41st Annual Daytime Emmy Winners Announced! Y&R Wins Drama Series, Billy Miller and Eileen Davidson Take Home Top Acting Prizes!

Courtesy/NATAS

In ceremonies held on Sunday night, it turned out to be a big night for CBS and its number one soap opera, The Young and the Restless.

The series was named Outstanding Drama Series,  Outstanding Writing Team for a Drama Series, as well as received the nod for Outstanding Special Class Special for its Jeanne Cooper Tribute at NATAS’ 41st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.  Y&R received six Emmys during the streaming event held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California,  the most of any show!

In the acting categories, Billy Miller received the perfect button on his career with The Young and the Restless wining his first ever Lead Actor in a Drama Series award for his riveting portrayal of Billy Abbott.  Miller had won two Daytime Emmys previously in the Supporting Category.  The actor decided to leave Y&R last December.  And after over two decades in daytime soaps, Eileen Davidson received her first ever Emmy win as Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her performance as Kristen DiMera on Days of our Lives.  Eileen received a standing ovation from the crowd in attendance!

The 41st Annual Daytime Emmys first live stream broadcast kicked-off with the announcement of the Supporting Acting and Actress category.

The first winner of the night was Days of our Lives Eric Martsolf who took home his first Emmy for his portrayal of a drug addicted Brady Black!   Next, The Young and the Restless Amelia Heinle won her first Emmy for her stirring performance of Victoria Newman Abbott.  Heinle paid tribute to her sister during her acceptance speech.

In the Younger Acting category, Chandler Massey had a three-peat for his performance of Will Horton on Days of our Lives.  Massey left the NBC soap opera back in November of last year after being fired from the show.   And Hunter King took her first Emmy for Younger Actress in a Drama Series for her work as Summer Newman on The Young and the Restless.

Lastly,  it was Prospect Park’s and TOLN’s One Life to Live’s that took home the gold for Outstanding Directing Team Drama Series , and Crystal Chappell and company received accolades for Outstanding New Approaches Drama Series! We will have full report on the live-stream ceremonies and more coming up!

So, what did you think of Y&R winning Drama Series?  Billy and Eileen winning Lead Actor and Actress?   Eric and Amelia winning Supporting Actor and Actress?  Chandler and Hunter winning Younger Actor and Actress? OLTL winning Directing Team? Let us know!

Amelia Heinle winning is a joke.

Thank God MCE as Chelsea did not win she never should be nominated

Sharon Case was robbed. Her character Sharon Newman is outstanding

Surprised Young and the Restless won this year with the writing at its worst I have seen in 20 years

Agree! Elizabeth Hendrickson nailed it and deserved it! I also thought Jane Elliot had a good chance since she is a legend and she had a lot of stories this past year.

Not true. She’s a good actress who’s been on & off daytime for 20 plus years. Maybe not the best in the category but still good.

What you say is true. Thanks.

I am so happy Amelia won, she is a wonderful actress. you are the joke, you sound miserable. Lol.

And her fans are apparently between 5 and 8 years old. What a lucky girl…

You can say that again! There were others much more deserving.

Can you explain your unkind comment please?

Laurene…I AGREE!!!!! But…I’m glad that Billy Miller won…YES!!!!!

I love Eileen, but I was shocked she beat Heather Tom. Heather KILLED it this past year with the Brooke/Bill/Katie affair reveal at her birthday party!!!!

Eileen was amazing and deserved it.

I love Heather Tom, but Eileen Davidson deserved to win this year. Good for her, Heather winning streak is over, she won an emmy last year, and the year before.

I can’t believe that Y&R received any awards..
Last year to this, was terribly long drawn out and boring- FF mostly..
They rode the wing of a dead child to get some gold..
I also do not feel that Amelia and Hunter are great actresses there are far better in the soaps..

But- it is what it is..
It all comes down the opinions of a few, not the majority of the fans who had no say in the matter ..
anyways- I did not watch lol .. and I see I missed not a lot of nothing 🙂

Congrats to all the winners, deserving or not, well done !!!!

Im think Billy Miller aka Billy desereved to win. I think Amelia aka Victoria should win. Happy for all the winners but as far as best show NO Y&R is NOT beter then General Hospital by no means

Y&R is by far the Best Soap and DESERVED to win, so Happy they did!!! Kudos to Billy Miller Very deserving. And happy for Summer and Victorias characters as well!

Y&R was horrible and deserved a Razzie instead of an Emmy!

Thank you Timmm I applaud that so very much

how can Y&R with a 365 day production feature just one memorable story line?

everything else about Genoa City is forgettable

now that the Dehila story is history… and without MM, BM, MS, JC, EH… whats left

I so agree with you. There were more deserving actions who did outstanding work. Frankly I am so sick of her on Y&R I am about ready to drop it from my viewing schedule.

I am glad Hunter King won. I think she really knocked it out of the park when she was told that Jack and not Nick was her father. I am to the point I don’t like half of the characters on Y&R anymore. That and the longgggg dragged out storylines are getting old.

Wow you are so full of yourself, Hunter King and Amelia won the emmys, well deserved. I bet you cant act at all. Lol. who pissed you off today? These ladies can act, you are just a drama queen, who whines and cant get her way. Yes we all have opinions, but saying Hunter and Amelia are horrible actresses, is plain wrong. Happy. they won, including Eileen Davidson.

I do believe that if you can tear up on queue… cry me a river… on queue… then you’ve got some attention

however… it’s a 365 day production… and it’s telling… how much you pull in… audience feast or famine….

Hunter King… is not relatable… theres no insight to noteworthy… who cares that she’s not jacks daughter and it’s back to Nicholas… or either or… blech

i’ll soapbox and stand firm…. Heather Tom is the same… indifferent

Could not believe The Young & Restless won these awards except for Billy Miller. The show is almost unwatchable. General Hospital is by far the best soap on TV. They were simply robbed. The Daytime Emmy’ s are a joke.

I agree Y&R is boring it used to be a top soap and didn’t get the recognition it does now that it sucks who ever voted on this one got paid or drank to much cause it was way off. oh well I didn’t watch I knew it was going to be BS.

Im sad. Liz Hendrickson was robbed. She would of deserved a Emmy. So does Bryan Craig- who got robbed. cant believe this. I watched it online last night and the swearring wasnt professionnal at all. im dissapointed of the whole Academy!

What else could Liz have done to win? She was ripped off!

I have to say the red carpet online was a horrible, I wish they had online other interviewers to watch.
The show itself was good. With no commercials it kept moving except for that one towards the end that kept rambling on and on. Thank goodness Kathy Griffin and Sharon Osborne said something I thing she would still be on now talking.
I so sorry to see GH not recognized for any of its fellow actors. I read they won a few for awards the other night. They never even showed them at the table.

The red carpet show was terrible. The hosts were obnoxios and need to be replaced.

Your name is similar to Eileen Davidson!

Oh Judy and Ellen, you have NOOOO idea! (I was there to witness the carnage!) An abyssmal embarrassment!

the best part of the night for me was kathy griffin shutting down jfp. it was priceless, and funny.

I was so excited to see the Emmy’s yesterday on the internet. Was looking forward to seeing Billy Miller win. I saw the red carpet program and thought the four gals that did the interviews were not that good. Some comments they made to the women about their breast was way out of line. Hope they get better interviewers next time. Also was very disappointed in Kathy Griffin and her filthy mouth. And the gal from Y&R that spoke as they won best drama also had a filthy mouth. They both should be ashamed of themselves am sure they parents were embarrassed. Hope they will have this on again next year ONLY show some respect for they viewers who don’t want to hear the kind of talk we heard last night. If it does you will loose viewers. Maybe that is the way those people talk all the time and don’t give any thought to others who don’t want to hear it.

Also Sharon Osborne thought she was so cute BUT again she also had a FILTHY MOUTH. Will not watch THE TALK that show is really getting to almost be like gutter talk.

I agree. I can’t watch that show after they kept talking about the coach picking his nose and showing it over and over. I walked out of room and came back and they were still grossing me out. None are experts but they talk like they are. The deal in pop culture and online videos and stories. Airhead stuff. I can get my info elsewhere.

Eileen’s win was so richly deserved and the thrill of the night. I can and do watch her submitted reel over and over!

Eilleen congrats on your daytime emmy, well deserved. Eileen is a terrific actress
. I watched the emmys on my phone, the live stream sucked. It was not very clear and very shaky. Next year, it better be on tv.

Im ok with Eileen, Billy, Eric, and Chandler wins ect…they all deserved it…its nice to come home from the hospital and hear some good news for a change…Y & R isnt my favorite soap…Days is…but the Billy/Adam story on Y&R was well acted and played out so that had to be the main reason for the win…imo!!!

Drew Carey…he is a comedian and part of daytime…get him to host the show next year!!!

No no no no way, Drew Carey is very annoying. Joan Rivers can host the emmys next year.

I hope you’re alright. Be and stay healthy.

Doing somewhat better…meds help somewhat…thanks!

Congratulations to Chandler Massey for third win for acting and creating Will for DAYS who screwed up the reel on the Emmy show intentionally showing the new Will, the incompetent replacement. Nevertheless Chandler won, Congratulations Chandler!!

I don’t think Guy Wilson is a incompetent replacement. However, I admit that the replaced reel was a very messy situation.

That was really embarrassing. It’s awesome that Chandler Massey Rose above that disgusting error. His successor really does suck and it’s been months and he’s not gotten any better. I’d rather see Will and Sonny get written out at this point because the new Will is awful and Will and Sonny have no real story prospects. I think this is partly due to the recast. DAYS just will not admit it screwed up but at the same time they can’t write for someone who can’t deliver the goods so off to the backburner the gays go.

Glad Chandler got the last laugh.

I agree. Sadly Guy Wilson really does suck in the role of Will. They should entice Chandler to return by offering yo psyche for his entire college education!$

Oh my. Y&R won for best drama, best writing. No way. Of the three soaps I watch (Y&R, Days, B&B), Y&R would be my last choice for these awards.

I agree with winners Billy Miller, Eric Martsolf, Eileen, and Chandler. Would not have chosen Hunter to win. Amelia is good. Congrats for her. Forget who the others nominated with her were.

Days has got to be happy for winning Best Actress, Younger Actor (still miss Chandler), and Supporting Actor. Way to go.

B&B didn’t win anything, looks like. 🙁 Maybe next year.

I’m just afraid with these wins, Y&R will think they’re great as is when that isn’t true.

Congratulations to the winners.

I totally agree. The whole thing except for Billy Miller and Eileen Davidson winning was a joke.

So happy for Eileen and Erin so well deserved. Congrats to the other winners. Sad my GH was shut out….Bryan deserved that win. Looking forward to Billy coming to GH….we welcome excellent actors which are going of late…woohoo

hey Jake NJ, I am totally thrilled for Eileen and Eric too. Eileen is favorite of mine. I was so pleased that they both won. Even though I favor GH, I felt that DAYS should have won for best soap, that soap is pretty consistent. As for Bryan, I was surprised that he was nominated only because for me last year, he was very raw and hadn’t had a handle on Morgan, not until he got paired up with Ava, did I see him evolve. Bryan’s scenes with Maurice and Maura has only made his acting much richer. I didn’t think it was Bryan’s year to win, though he has done some exceptional work, he’s now in a place as an actor where he’s really growing, he’ll definitely be nominated next year…he’s one to watch. And, I too am looking forward to Billy Miller coming to GH, I hope the rumors will be officially confirmed soon. In closing, I don’t know what GH did or didn’t do to piss off the academy, the omission of nominations for Maura West, Tyler Christopher and Kelly Thiebaud was a complete shocker. Congrats to the nominations for OLTL, and I had hoped Younger Actress would have been awarded to the versatile Kelley Missal. Next year, I expect GH to kick some soap opera butt!

The Academy has obviously got a personal grudge against General Hospital. When they nominate a cancelled soap OLTL over the best soap on TV something is really wrong and I watch DAYS & Y&R. They don’t hold a candle to General Hospital.

Chh gh as won most emmys, but other actors on ithet show deserve to win and everbody has a encounter for taste and whay they like. I agree they should been nominated for directing and drama series

4 General Hospital to be so blatantly overlooked in the category of Daytime Drama, is a SLAP in
FACE. Not to mention ignoring the superb writing team headed by RON C. The show has been
nothing but GREAT since FRANK V. has taken over as Exec/Prod. The LOVE and CARE he’s
Injected into it clearly shows.
SHAME on U the Academy!!!

Politics Fanny!

Obviously the professionals in the business didn’t agree. Although I watch GH, when I look at the situation objectively, Jason Thompson is the only GH nominee who deserved a trophy.

Thank you Fanny for saying what so many of us are thinking. GH had some excellent storylines this year and some great acting. Don’t understand why they were treated so badly. I only watch GH and Y&R. If I had to give one up it would be Y&R. There are so few characters that I like on that show these days. Wish they would bring back Marie A Bell. At least the characters were likeable and she did not draw out the storylines like the current IIC.

Maybe you’ll find room for DAYS one day.

I totally agree!! Y&R is the most boring soap I’ve ever watched (and I’ve watched them all). GH has been incredible since FV and RC took over. To be shut out completely is a huge insult to an excellent show.

Not sure what is behind it, but some of it has to do with perception. If you look at films, some comedies are very popular and well written, but they will never win an Oscar. GH might have audience appeal because it is entertaining, but those in the business might not translate entertain value for artistic value. GH does do a lot of camp stories, mobsters, vampires, nurse’s balls, which are fun to watch and well written, but just not the kind of writing that wins industry awards usually. But I do think this year, there was a deliberate snub for GH for reasons insiders know better than we do.

These awards have been fixed for years. I do not even bother watching.

Not to take anything away from the winners, but what stands out is the enormous slap in the face to ABC/General Hospital. First the nominations, now this. I wonder why? Yes, the show has had it’s low points, but it’s also done quite a bit right and has deservedly been given much of the credit for revitatlizing the genre. TOLN? Really?

At the very least, Jason Thompson should’ve won.

I still say its payback for Carlavatis unprofessional rants.

SO TRUE RICH!

I was happy for all the winners AND the nominees. I was a bit sad that the actors I wanted to win didn’t, but then I got to thinking…With only four soaps left on network TV, the field of extremely talented actors is becoming crowded. It’s not like it used to be when there were twelve and fourteen soaps on the air and the talent was all spread out. With so many very talented actors out of work, shows have a greater ability to cast the most talented, if the money is there or the talent is willing to take what might be given to a lesser known/able talent. Our soaps are an embarrassment of wonderful actors and we, the audience, are the beneficiaries. We have some actors who definitely need to grow, but by and large, each show has wonderful actors. I think it all boils down to anyone who is singled out is lucky to be called the best of the crème a la crème in daytime. Soaps rock!

Great night especially for Y&R. Was very happy!
Production sucked as hell but still a great awards night!
OLTL winning Directing was a perfect send-off!
Congrats to DAYS in the acting category!

an almost-perfect result
way to go Davidson, Miller, & especially Massey

Absolutely! Love Eileen! Can’t wait to see Kristen back in Salem!

CONGRATULATIONS to all of the winners and to the number one drama in daytime: The Young and the Restless! Funny how the MAB and Y&R haters are conveniently quiet today!

One note: please increase the budget next year and find hosts who know what the F they are doing; the pre-show was an embarrassment to the ceremony!

MAB & Y&R haters are quiet!
I’m glad Y&R took most of the awards!

I haven’t watched the Daytime Emmy’s in years because they are just horrible and I’m sure this year wasn’t any better; in fact, I heard it was a hot mess of a show and frankly Kathy Griffin grates on my every last nerve!!
BUT …. Congratulations are in order for Eileen Davidson, Eric Martsolf (who has come a long way!!) and always Chandler Massey!
BOO that Jason Thompson once again was not a winner. This guy is terrific!
Also congrats to Ellen DeGeneres who is a class act on daytime!

Im happy for the winners but the big losers were the fans, it was terrible to log on and try to watch and from what Iread the red carpet was a sh*t show.

At this point, dont even bother if its not going to air on television, OR how about rotating it around the three networks and airing it in daytime. CBS had no problems advertising how many emmys they were up for but couldnt air the actual awards show?!?!?!

Lets face it too, if Y&R wins best show and best writing these awards are not based on merit. I cant complain about the acting awards, especially Amelia Heinle who I think has been underrated for years.

You missed nothing on the red carpet….unless you enjoy train wrecks. All those women should be out of a job today.

The streaming wasn’t the issue for me. It was the low class red carpet hosts and excessive swearing that bothered me. There are many qualified individuals out there who truly love this genre and would willingly and professionally take on those hosting roles and write appropriately for a prompter. So it may not air on network television again, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be classy. I hope TPTB at NATAS seek out those who really respect daytime for next year’s event.

Those “ladies” doing the red carpet were disgusting not just in their behavior and language, but the fact that they clearly knew NOTHING about the shows or the cast! What an insult to the viewers, but also to the industry as a whole. I guess NATAS got the “buzz” they wanted because everyone is talking. Nasty and pathetic IMO.

I’m happy for all the winners! – Eileen Davidson was the most deserved win of all of them!

TTFW too tacky for words

Hot off her win for Outstang Lead Actress, Eileen Davidson will once again dazzle us as Kristen on DAYS!!! Be sure to tune in to “Days of our Lives”, the soap that made her a daytime emmy winner!!!

I take a lot of pride in knowing… it’s from DAYS and NBC that she is fully recognized… her loaded persona is full rich feasted best come on it’s me i’m here, with and DiMera

how good is that ? LOL

if it wasn’t for the DiMera clan… where would the noble and righteous get

have at em Nicole
have at em Theresa
have at em Brady

Kristen is back… with her turn at noble… I predict ( thank you JimH…) with child perhaps… and will turn her loaded feature with the god fearing… and burn in hell with… god forgive… it’s a show

her machinations rivet and guns fired and re-loaded… spin treat

this is the only way… for her to keep on returning…with her new 2 year contract that requires her to feast at DOOL

she stimulates on all levels…. two very diverse characters

I, with many, cannot fathom her mindset , decisive manner… that it’s at Y&R that she loaded with

Genoa City is dead like

you can’t unspin that truth

Salem’ites remain

long live Eileen Davidson belong

I think with… she’s doing all that

I am so thrilled for Eileen Davidson, and that she got a standing ovation?!?! Eileen is a top-notch actress! I absolutely love her and am so happy that her hard work paid off! She deserved to win! Whoo Hoo! (On a side note, I am happy for Chandler Massey, too. I miss him. Not a fan of nu-Will)!

I wish I knew if the daughter of JFP congratulated mommy dearest or not!

Kathy Griffin was who we thought she was, classless. Sharon and Cheryl from “The Talk” were annoying, classless, and unfunny! Too many categories I could care less about. Big wigs from the morning shows won awards but dismissed being there because its a Daytime award show and its on the internet! Steve Harvey won and he wasnt there but someone from his show said how important it is because black this and black that. Boring! If it was so important to Steve and his accomplishments as a black guy, why werent you there Steve? BS! I would have FF through that crap and a lot of other crap like cooking awards! On a positive note, congrats to the Y&R girls and Michelle Stafford. They all looked stunning!

Michelle Stafford was the bomb…

we should all know by now… when it’s breaking in a new story…. they dress down… and look haggard… then it’s spitfire… shows on.. gussied up.

Michelle Stafford looked like a million bucks… she’s being featured

which by any stretch of the imagination… is why I like when Olivia is featured… she’s down for the count… and she comes up smokin’

love the women of

The Daytime Emmys have turned into a colossal joke! The rumors that something fishy is going on behind the scenes with this nomination and winning process seems evident to me. I am, of course, speaking of the HUGE slap in the face to “General Hospital”. I think it is the most entertaining, edge of your seat, incredibly acted soap on TV. I have nothing against the other 3 shows remaining, but when GH was omitted from the Best Show, Directing, AND Writing categories, as well as Finola Hughes for Best Actress, etc as a few examples, there is something wrong. GH should have been in Best Show as a 5th nominee or in place of the online OLTL. Finola or another GH actress should have been a 5th Best Actress nominee. Leaving it at only 4 when there’s so many other awesome actresses to nominate is stupid. The procedure sucks! The pre-noms were there, but the nominations were not, and then GH is completely shut out of any wins at all! Are you kidding me??!! For those not happy with the storylines lately, you’re also entitled to your opinion, but I don’t see it. I think it had an amazing year, and I am not alone in this as I’ve seen on many social media sites. The process needs a major overhaul with very fair, non-biased people handling things behind the scenes. I did not watch this year because after the nominations came out with a slap in the face to GH, I was suspicious and had a feeling the same thing would happen at the ceremony, and sure enough… I was right!! I just looked at the winners afterwards. Disgusting in my opinion!!

Totally Agree 100%

Over the years, sadly soaps have always been viewed as a second class citizen, and last night was a prime example of just that. Kathy Griffen was simply embarrassing. The use of foul language at an Emmy event was just a blatant diss. These are talented hard working individuals who deserve the same fanfare as every other award show, but instead of hiring a highly respected host ..they hire KG? Absolutely disgraceful!

I feel sorry for these actors, who work harder than any other genre in entertainment….
its time the industry takes a good look at the way in which they choose to “HONOR” these daytime actors…I was embarrassed for them!

Eileen Davidson is magnificent…so deserving of her award….

One ore thing, it is so disappointing that this event is not televised. Networks run shows like that ridiculous Joan Rivers show Fashion Police with her foul rude obnoxious mouth, but The Daytime Emmys are no televised? I guess we should be grateful that Joan was not asked to host…lets not give them any ideas shall we?

Thumbs down !

I think the inferior complex daytime has is starting affect those within the industry itself. It is hard to respect a genre that doesn’t respect itself. If they valued their work perhaps they would have put on a more dignified awards show– yes it wasn’t on network therefore not subjected to standards and practices, but if they really thought well of themselves would they have allowed so many classless people run the show? For a show that had the potential to reach new audiences via the web from other countries I don’t think the show they steamed left a very good impression of America or the daytime shows being honored.

Next year they should have it here in Canada, if they could a Canadian network to host it, I bet it can be done cheap and classy– we’re used to working on low budgets here and we are very polite— LOL.

And as much as we all hate commercials in reality those commercial breaks give award shows a schedule to follow and time to iron out any kinks in show before coming back live– so lets hope they do find a network home next year that will honor them properly and keep everyone is line, not just for the viewers but those on stage who need someone to stop them making a fool of themselves.

hey NATAS why not give Canada a shot at it– we can’t do it worse

I’m sorry, Eileen whose storyline was basically all about sex, sex, sex, should not have won, that honor should have gone to Heather Tom.

I was looking forward to an “In Memoriam.” Even though Matthew Cowles passed away in 2014, I was hoping for an honorable mention.

The biggest rob in my opinion was the GH was not nominated as either Outstanding Drama or Outstanding Writing… What the hell? GH has been excellent since Frank and Ron took over, and this past year Y&R has been extremely slow and boring. Yes, the Delia story was great in terms of acting, but writing? The death of a child on a soap is not worthy of “outstanding writing” IMO and I don’t think Y&R should necessarily be proud of it. This Emmy win has probably solidified JFP’s job, though, because I doubt CBS and Sony are going to fire the lady that just earned Y&R another Outstanding Drama Series trophy.

In terms of acting awards, Eileen and Billy’s wins were spot on (though I do think Jason Thompson should win next year). Eric’s win was fine, though I would have preferred a tie and Bradford Anderson to win as well. Amelia Heinle is a good actress, but Elizabeth Hendrickson’s scenes were much better, so I think EH should have won. Happy for Hunter King, but Kelley Missal did a great job too. The biggest joke for me was younger actor… Chandler Massey again?! I really thought Bryan Craig and Chad Duell did better and deserved it more than he did.

Hey any clues about the drunk soap starlet kathy griffin mentioned lol

I was so excited for the daytime Emmy’s. I loved that it was going to be streamed online for the first time. It really shows the change that is upon us with streaming live tv online & for free. I think there could have been a bit more advertisement as I forgot that it was even on until I logged into http://e98.637.mwp.accessdomain.com

The red carpet hosts & Kathy Griffin –

The 4 red carpet hosts where embarrassing. They clearly did not do any homework or bring any type of etic to the show. Some of what they did was for shock value but it was unneeded for this type of show. The fans would rather get real interviews then asking dumb questions and making the guest feel ashamed to even have to answer. But most of what they did was silly and a waste of our time. It was not funny it was sad. It made the show seem like a joke and it was a slap in the face to the fans who still support and tune in everyday.

Kathy Griffin is one of my favorite ladies. I love her realness and truthfulness and no bs type of comedy. But was she really a host or just a stand in to bring some ratings? She had one outfit the whole night which was a bit of a letdown. She only was on stage for minutes. I expected to see her in between awards, making us laugh and getting to see her work her chops on daytime. But sadly we got an opening act and then the odd pop up. Again it was a waste of what could have given the show the some comedy which it clearly needed.

The show itself –

I was kind of board & felt like I could have not have watched it and been ok with that. I expected more. This was a chance to really shine and bring the daytime Emmy’s into the next generation. They failed by the way the show flowed. I liked that it went by quicker than past years. But I felt left wanting more. Maybe a break in between awards with a musical act or again Kathy doing something fun. Clearly there were some glitches and parts that showed that they were in over there head and had no control of the show. But that was expected with this being the first online show. But I am hopeful that next year they were fix the missteps.

Overall I am just thankful that we have the daytime Emmy’s. I know last year could have been our last and for that I am thankful. There was also some very good moments that I am glad I got to see. Billy Miller was one of my favorite’s wins of the night. One life to live was my favorite. But no GH wins or being included in most of the big category’s was a bit shocking and seems on purpose and not just an over sight. GH has rocked it this year and had some amazing storylines. The best writing I have seen in years and the acting on all fronts has kicked it into high gear. They deserved to be at the very least nominated for best drama.

That is my review hoping next year will be better but still thankful we have an award show to recognize our wonderful daytime actors.

On a side note…wtf was up with Kelly? She had to be drunk? It was not funny it just looked messy and I felt bad for her co-stars who clearly were not wanting to be up on that stage with her!

Also…I did not understand why they included night time entertainment shows? They should be in the prime time show not the daytime show.

CONGRATULATIONS TO BILLY MILLER AND EILEEN DAVIDSON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WELL DESERVED WINS!!

the two standout scenes :

watching Crystal Chappell – LOL – giddy time…. WIN for “Venice”

she is so alluring stunning quintessential ALL woman… ps: with Hillary Bailey Smith

Sexy

seeing Chandler Massey again! yes! that inward shy smile…. you take one look at him… and your heart pulls out all the stops for our Will.

The red carpet was disastrous. Those tactless females had no clue who they were speaking to and their “valley girl” act was annoying as hell. Kathy Griffin emceed ok, but she still seems to mustakenly believe vulgarity is humorous. It’s not….and neither was she. Sharon Osbourne proved once again she’s a pig. Little wonder her children were a mess. And shame on Sally Jessy Raphael lookalike Jill Farren Phelps for referring to her daughter as “my f***ing daughter.”. But the show moved along, much more speedily than most award shows and was a major improvement from the couch comedy of last year. Yes, I didnt feel some of the wins were deserved but it is what it is.

its safe to say Sony bought the award show for its two shows dool, and y&r specially in every acting category. no wonder the networks wont air it, they are a joke.

In my Heart of Hearts : Days of OUR Lives should have won 2 years in a row

collectively… if you put these two shows side by side….. DOOL and Y&R

DOOL would come out on top. keeping abreast of 4 shows… is not difficult.

a clear winner – day in and day out…. it’s Salem that resonates all the Serial recipe

Congrats to the winners of the Daytime Emmy awards. I didn’t agree with most of them, but that is either here nor there.

Has there ever been a big scandal on how the winners are selected?

How many years does a show have to be off the air before they are ineligible for nomination? For what time period were these Emmies awarded?

Huge Congratulations to Chandler Massey.

First for being a superb actor on-screen. And last, but not least, for being such a classy, kind, gracious man off-screen.

After last night, it’s even more obvious why Chandler is so sorely missed, both on and off-screen.

you couldn’t have asked for a better 2 pair reigning supremely

these two ignited didn’t spare each other… acted their hearts out

this past year… was epic ! LOL

I don’t think we’ll see the likes of this again

from Y&R :

Billy Miller : Billy Abbott
Amelia Heinle : Victoria Newman

from DAYS :

Eileen Davidson : Kristen DiMera
Eric Martsolf : Brady Black

tour de force : accolades : standing ovations : LOVE them

LOL stunned by big win : Eric Martsolf …. kudos to him for coming along just fine and his natural effective performances daily

I was teared up the most by this win : Laud yourself girl ! you deserved this. It’s a little time to shine with Amelia

Billy Miller is the man

our treat is two fold : she snagged it : with her old skool recipe for all the elements Serial is at it’s best when she’s a part of : she was glammed up beautiful Eileen

Thank you Ms. Davidson for your contribution to

Cheers to Chandler Massey : no argument their.

I didn’t care for Hunter King winning…. and yes a behind the scenes does render… the more deserving Kelly Missal, Dani, OLTL should have taken home gold

I mentioned the backstage problems which contributed to the win for Hunter King…my comment was not allowed. I’ll try it again:

MM allegedly grabbed Hunter King’s breasts, which resulted in Hunter King grabbing the gold!

I don’t understand why that comment was not allowed. I did not accuse MM, I said allegedly. I did not say HK made it up for publicity…People can draw their own conclusions. What I tried to convey is…That alleged incident made headlines! It did, in fact, create buzz for HK and JFP for that matter. I’m sure some voters thought…that poor girl put up with a lot and then stood her ground.

When her name was called and she went on stage to receive her emmy, I yelled BS when she stated she was not expecting to win! Really? Who doesn’t expect to win after constantly being talked about, especially when their viewed as being “brave”?

Patrick and 4ever DAYS, I agree with you both. I was upset that HK won, which, as you said, more than likely had to do with publicity, because it sure as hell wasn’t talent. Whether the TMZ story that got her name out there is true or not, the point is it got her name out there. It made her, as you said 4ever, look “brave” and like a victim who “deserved” for something good to happen to her. If it happened and she truly felt violated, that’s very sad and my heart goes out to her, but that’s not what this award is SUPPOSED to be for. It’s supposed to be for TALENT, which would have been most of her competitors, not her.

Actually I was a bit surprise by some of the winners, based on the reels I saw Chandler’s reel wasn’t as strong as Byran Craig’s– methinks there was a deliberate movement to shut out any GH cast member from winning.

And I don’t think Billy Miller’s reel was as good as Peter Bergman’s, so he must have gotten it for his body of work, even though it is supposed to be judged on the reels.

Heather Tom had the better reel, but ED was a close second– Ms Tom might of have been a victim of too many previous wins– they just couldn’t bring themselves to do it again.

In Supporting I think any of the ladies from Y&R could have won it— so no big shock there. I guess for me the biggest shock was Eric’s win in supporting actor. I think there were so many entries about father’s losing children, it would have been difficult to pick which was performance was better, so I think they took the diplomatic route and chose the only reel not about a grieving father, which was Eric’s drug addicted rant.

As for Y&R win for series and writing I am not surprised. JFP isn’t stupid she knows what stories win Emmy awards and that is why little DeeDee was sacrifice for this very purpose. It is the only reason they killed that character off was to have a great Emmy reel. JFP got what she wanted— and now I shudder to think of who she will have to kill this year in order to get the award again next year.

I’ll go just this bit more

Heather Tom is not… is NOT in the same league as say :

Erika Slezak
David Canary
Anthony Geary
Kim Zimmer

she’s certainly not a reason to tune in to B&B… she’s forgettable.. after her histrionics…

her emmy real was obvious heightened with drab… that bun was pulled so tight and severe… she lost all ebb and flow consciousness

Chandler’s submission was clever and well done so it’s a shame it wasn’t shown. Plus that reel that was actually shown was a painful reminder that Chandler should’ve played out the wedding and he could’ve too had Greg Meng not fired him and replaced Chandler with one of the worst recasts in daytime history.

Chandler’s reel is only about 3 or so minutes and in that time frame, he showcased a performance where the acting was layered, nuanced and devoid of irritating histrionics unlike his competitors especially those kids from GH. Those GH boys were hysterical drama queens in their reels.

Good on you, Chandler!!!

I was pretty pleased with who won in the actor categories. I have to say I WAS surprised at Martsolft’s win. Back when I still watched Y&R I was very moved by Amelie Heinle’s performance during the Deliah story.

Thrilled about OLTL’s win. Showed there was some respect for what they tried to do.

Choked when Y&R won writing & drama. I haven’t watched in 6 months because the writing had gotten so bad. Will say they deserved the win for Jeanne Cooper tribute. Probably the last thing they did well.

I wasn’t shocked or bothered by Kathy Griffen…anyone who has ever seen her knows what to expect. And, while I am no pure mouth I thought Sharon Osborne’s language was low class…pretty much as I generally feel about her anyway.

The two women in the social media room were ok…not great but ok. However, the two dingbats on the red carpet were a joke. They either had no idea who they were interviewing, if they were nominated and the biggest eyeroll moment was when they talked to Maura West & Tyler Christopher and thought they were a couple and getting married. You could see this look on West’s face that she just thought they were ridiculous. And, could they have made more comments about the women’s breasts? It was embarrassing for all involved.

Did like that the show moved along swiftly without commercials.

It was a real blooper when they showed Guy Wilson in a clip while naming Chandler Massey as a nominee.

All in all….beat the pants off the shows HLN produced.

I know the “net award show” thing is new territory, but that Red Carpet was disgraceful, the interviewers were horrendous, an article in the Washington Post notes this today, how disrespectful they were to the classy actors. Kathy Griffen’s monologue was recycled from her stand-up, I’m guilty of watching too much Bravo! I guess Mrs. Osbourne was the “mature?” one who could show the “f” word is the “new vibe,” but this is where I miss Erica Slezak’s presence…and I used to think she was stuffy. And lastly, to trash Susan Lucci, next year, Kathy Griffen should be banned altogether. Thank God all the winners have professional yes, class, and bless them all. Let this be a glitch and let the soaps have a resurgeance.

all the actors who reeled nonplussed had every right

it was evident

the “hosts” did not know their craft… and history of

if this is on line again : i’d feature fans interviewing… MF … and knowing the requisite APB that it’s a freeing experience to render your character… feature aplomb… do it.. have at it… be their… it’s your take… on line feature is not just soul take but mindset behavior real

you said it perfectly A Baptiste : Ms. Osborne was merely telling .. this is the “new” vibe

My typo: “Thank God all the actors have professional DEMEANOR, yes, class…” People forget these Daytime Drama pros got there for many top-notch reasons and should be respected for that.

I used to watch and even care, but this year the blatent disregard of GH left me feeling it is all bogus.

Ok, I don’t usually leave comments but I had to for this, doesn’t anyone else think that it’s a little weird that no one from GH won and the show was completely ignored even though it was the shows 50th anniversary year? Has the show been perfect, no. But it has been good enough to recieve at least a nomination. No other show is able to create the buzz that GH does, and to completely ignore them seems odd to me.

I didn’t watch the ceremony this year because I believed many of the nominees were a joke and I also am not a fan of watching shows online.

When I saw the winners list, I was happy with my decision not to watch.

Let me first start by saying, I’m very happy that Billy Miller and Eileen Davidson won. Very deserved on both their parts. I was also happy for Eric because, while I was rooting for Bradford Anderson who did some of his best work ever in 2013 and in his reel, I am also a fan of Eric’s and believe he’s come a long way since his Passions days.

However, Ameila Heinle? Are you kidding? Over Jane Elliot, Elizabeth Hendrickson, and Melissa Claire Egan? Is she a bad actress? No. But was she stronger than the others? Absolutely not. I shouldn’t be surprised because the Supporting Actress category is usually a disaster (remember when Nancy Lee Grahn won over Rebecca Herbst’s outstanding work with Jake’s death?), but it’s still shocking. Jane Elliot had the strongest reel, in my opinion, displaying controlled range and delivering beautifully written dialogue. She was robbed.

Chandler Massey, who I was a big fan of, I’m sorry, but he did not have the strongest reel this year. It’s getting to the point where all of these “three peats” that keep happening just look lazy on the voters’ part. It’s like “Let’s just give it to the kid that won last year instead of who had the best work.”

Hunter King winning over Kelley Missal was a travesty. I’m sorry, I have nothing personal against Ms. King, I’m sure she’s a lovely girl, but she is NOT a good actress. It’s painful to watch her try and squeeze out tears while looking constipated and her voice is grating. Most of her work consists of stronger actors like Michelle Stafford, Peter Bergman, or Joshua Morrow doing the heavy lifting while she sniffles. Hell, even Linsey Godfrey’s reel was more deserving and hers’ was for COMEDY.

Y&R winning is, frankly, disgusting. Ever since Jill Farren Phelps and her hack writers jumped on board, the show went from bad to rock bottom. But, now they have that “all important” Emmy, so despite the dwindling ratings and losing their spot in the key demos, CBS will keep them on board.

They won because of the backstage drama.

That’s what I assumed happened with Chandler Massey and Hunter King. Chandler Massey because this was his last chance to win and people probably felt bad that he was “fired” and Hunter King’s name was plastered all over entertainment shows and blogs thanks to TMZ and there’s no such thing as bad publicity.

it was pretty clear to me that Billy Miller and Eileen Davidson were going to win

the supporting characters were far telling

the competition was loaded stiff and far reaching

supporting actor male:

Bradford Anderson
Dominic Zamprogna
Eric Martsolf

how loaded is this act… wow

best supporting actress

Jane Elliott
Elizabeth Hendrickson
Amelia Heinle

too close for words

I was shocked and celebrating Amelia and Eric… “thank you”

Nikki…more and more, you are a chick after my own heart!!!!! Girlfriend…you TRULY ROCK!!!!! Anyway, some thoughts and all of my own:

1. I totally agree…Amelia Heinle SHOULD N-O-T have won. And…no disrespect towards Elizabeth Hendrickson and Melissa Claire Egan, but I really pulling for Jane Elliott to win.

2. Nikki…you are SO PERFECTLY SPOT ON about that Hunter King. Blah. Furthermore, she SHOULD N-O-T have been nominated PERIOD!!!!! BLECH!!!!! To me, HK seems so fake and manipulative. No Thank You. As for that Summer character of hers…Summer is such AN UNWATCHABLE WASTE OF SPACE!!!!! Let me see…wanting to snivel and cry EVERY FEW SECONDS (wah wah wah), getting overly-emotional (oh, barf!!!!!) about having 2 dads (aka Jack and Nick), INSTANTLY falling in love with that DORKY IDIOT Austin (who held her Aunt Avery hostage), etc.. The (loony-filled) list goes on and on. Most of all, whenever that sniveling Summer opens up her mouth to EVEN SPEAK, it makes me wanna punch MY OWN LIGHTS OUT!!!!! Yep.
3. Lastly, TOTALLY RIGHT ON about that horrible JFP!!!!! To me, that woman reminds me of some of my ex-boyfriends…FULL OF ENDLESS HOT AIR…LOL!!!!! As for Y&R winning (YIKES!!!!!) Outstanding Drama Series…BEYOND DISGUSTING!!!!! WHAT A C-R-O-C-K!!!!!
4. While I’m thinking about it…quick correction: From #1 earlier in my post, it should have read ‘was really pulling for’. MY BAD!!!!!

Nikki…take care, hon. XOXOXOXOXO

Carol Burnett Talks About Being a Superfan of ‘All My Children’ on ‘Live with Kelly and Mark’

In a heartfelt reunion, of sorts, the one and only Carol Burnett appeared on Monday March 25th episode of Live with Kelly and Mark.

Burnett had first met Kelly Ripa (Hayley) and Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo) back when they all appeared on All My Children together. Carol played Verla Grubbs first in 1983 and then again in the 90’s.

Host Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley, AMC) noted to Burnett that “we go back a long time”. She also described Burnett’s character of Verla Grubbs, “extraordinary in every way.”

Carol’s love for All My Children is well-documented, hence legendary soap creator, Agnes Nixon, created the role of Verla for Burnett.

Speaking on how her passion for All My Children began, Carol told Kelly and Mark, “It started with my kids. They would watch at noon. I said, ‘What are you guys doing?’ I sat down and I started to watch and I got hooked!”

When Carol’s family decided to travel through Europe during one summer, the comedic legend recalled thinking, “How am I going to last if I don’t know what’s going on in Pine Valley?” She revealed she had a friend, “who sent me a telegram to the (different hotels) on Fridays to bring me up to date.”

In a hilarious moment from the segment, Carol recalled receiving a late night telegram while in Lake Cuomo when there was a knock at her hotel room door from the hotel manager who was shaking.

Carol related what it said, “Erica is still in a coma. Mark slipped again and ran away from rehab.” As Kelly and Mark broke into laughter, Burnett continued, “Chuck has learned that Donna is carrying his baby, who was once a hooker.”

Check out Carol explaining how she became an AMC Superfan below.

Malachy McCourt, ‘Ryan’s Hope’ and ‘All My Children’ Actor, Dead at 92

If you watched Ryan’s Hope through its 14-year-run, you know that Kevin the bartender became a beloved “member’ of the Ryan clan on the defunct ABC daytime drama series. The character of Kevin MacGuiness became so loved by the fans because of the actor who portrayed him, Malachy McCourt.

Sadly, according to his wife Diana McCourt to The New York Times, Malachy passed away on Monday from a heart condition and battling cancer. The actor was 92-years-old.

Playing Kevin on Ryan’s Hope was not much of a stretch for McCourt, because in his lifetime, he was the owner of 1950s Irish pub Malachy’s on Third Avenue in Manhattan. Known as one of the city’s great story-tellers, patrons from longshoremen to the actor Richard Harris would stop in and talk all things Irish with . On Ryan’s Hope, Kevin was best friends to “Ryan’s Bar” owner, Johnny Ryan (Bernie Barrow) and he tried to keep Delia (Ilene Kristen) on the straight and narrow.

In his soap opera career, McCourt also was widely-known for his role of Father Clarence McCourt on All My Children especially come Christmastime. Was Clarence, actually St. Nick? That was always the proverbial question. McCourt also appeared on the New York soaps: One Life To Live, Search For Tomorrow and Another World. Other roles included: Devil’s Own, Brewster’s Millions, The Molly Maguires, and Starman, to name

Later in 2006, Malachy ran for governor of the state of New York as a Green Party candidate. He tackled social issues of the time including being an advocate for gay and lesbian groups to march in the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

McCourt’s childhood was recounted within his brother Frank McCourt’s Pulitzer Prize-winning memoir Angela’s Ashes, which detailed their mother’s attempt to raise the four of their surviving seven children in poverty in Limerick, Ireland. Later, Malachy wrote his own memoirs: 1998’s Monk Swimming, and 2000’s Singing My Him Song.

Malachy is survived by his aforementioned wife, Diana, daughter Siobhan McCourt; sons Malachy Jr., Conor and Cormac; stepdaughter Nina Galin; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
