And the race is officially on!  This morning the nominations were announced for the 39th Annual Daytime Emmy Pre-Nominations which determine which daytime drama performers are officially in the running for Emmy gold.  Next step, the final round of judging which gets underway on March 27, 2012.

Here is how it worked:   A ballot containing a full list of entrants in each of the six performer categories was sent to registered, eligible peer judges.  The ballot contained an unrevealed and randomized order of performers in each category, regardless of their show affiliation.

Judges were required to view clips containing the work of each performer entry before selecting their top 10 performer choices in each category.  The judges sent their ballots directly to Lutz & Carr, an independent accounting firm, who tabulated the results. The Lead Actor contains 11 pre-nominated performers due to a tie int his category.  The candidates below who received the highest number of votes now advance to the blue ribbon at-home screening round, scheduled to begin on March 27th, 2012, which will determine both nominees and winners.

And now after the jump, here are this years Pre-Nominees!

Congratulations to all the Pre-Nominees, but yes, there are some glaring omissions! Where is Kimberly McCullough (Robin, GH), James Scott (EJ, DAYS) Ilene Kristen (Roxy, OLTL), Florencia Lozano (Tea, OLTL) and Kristen Alderson (OLTL)? And … a host of others!

Take a look at the list soapers, and let us know who you are rooting for in the six acting categories! More soon, as On-Air On-Soaps will bring you our continued Daytime Emmy coverage!

WOW!!!!!!!

How the hell does Hillary B Smith get overlooked AGAIN? She had some of the best material. I guess the academy doesn’t recognize true talent when they see it.

I agree ,and the girl who plays tia.I loved the way she calls her brother ,toe mass,I miss one life to live.

I hope they are not being prejudice againt Hillary. Hillary is one of the best actresses in daytime.

I know

I love that Erika Slezak is on this list, she submitted some of her best work for her Emmy reel. Hopefully she will get a nomination. I’m sad that Melissa Archer wasn’t given a pre-nom, I thought she had some great stuff last year.

I want a nomination and a victory for Nadia Bjorlin. She so deserves it.

jACQUELINE mAC INNES Wood BETTER WIN FOR BEST YOUNGER ACTRESS!!!!!!!!! SHE IS THE GREATEST!!!!!!!!

I can’t believe James Scott has not been nominated! He is one of the best actors in Daytime. And his performance during the death of his son Johnny was outstanding. Just don’t get how he could have been overlooked.

Also where is the talented Lauren Koslow? She has been overlooked again? Her performance as Kate is truly emmy worthy.

Congratulations to all the Days of Our Lives nominees! Chandler Massey has the emmy won for younger actor.

James Scott’s omission has me confused too. As does Alison Sweeney’s. Did they not submit the scenes where they thought Johnny was dead? Not the sex part, but the tour de france tennis match they had before it? And if not, WHY THE HELL DIDN’T THEY? It was by far their best work of the year, and they both knew it. They talked about how much pre-work went into making those scenes work was. Very odd IMO.

WTH are wrong with the people in charge of the Emmy pre nominations. Dominic Zamprogna is such a passionate phenomenal actor and its beyond my understanding why such a fantastic actor was not nominated. and snubbed by all in charge..

I couldn’t agree more! He should have been nominated last year but it was said that he wasn’t qualified because an actor had to be on during a certain time frame. However, Jonathan Jackson was nominated and wasn’t on the show long enough as well. I believe that these nominations are so partial to certain actors/actresses. But Karma will win and those that were shunned will make it big time in this industry!

I third this. Dominic Zamprogna has been overlooked for three years now. I don’t understand if this is some sort of popularity contest or what? Obviously these people are not voting on acting ability. No offense to Sean Blakemore but that is a joke. He’s like a glorified extra. Everyone says Daytime Emmy’s are a joke. Well I believe them now…..

Outstanding Lead Actress In a Drama Series ~ Crystal Chappell will ALWAYS get my vote in any category. She is truly an Outstanding Actress and an Amazing Lady (not to mention smart & beautiful). She is sooo deserving of any and all awards she receives.

I can’t speak to all, but other than a few places which I can see the Emmys got it right (Michael Muhney, Debbi Morgan, Darnell Williams – and I have never watched Y&R, & haven’t watched AMC really this year), the rest seems to be business as usual. Lead Actress who did not have story? Supporting who was on for a few months & only recaptured character at the end (and I love her)? Younger actor nominees who can barely walk through a line reading? Lead Actor nominees who are unwatchable and barely coherent?

I don’t see how anything has changed.

I think it’s sad for the few who really deserve the recognition that the Academy has proved itself unworthy of respect.

From my lips, to “the gods” ears:
Best Actress: Erika Slezak
Best Actor: Jerry van Dorn
Best Supporting Actress: Arianne Zucker
Best Supporting Actor: John Wesley Shipp
Best Younger Actress: Molly Burnette
Best Younger Actor: Chandler Massey
Best Soap: OLTL of course!

They snub Jacob Young who summited the screen with JR and “Babe”? I guess they figure that Jackson did not the win in the bag easy enough

Why weren’t James Scott or Alison Sweeney or Katherine Kelly Lang nominated? Why isn’t Billy Miller in lead actor category? Why is Debbi Morgan nominated for Harmony????? Surely there was someone better. Not saying she’s not a good actress, but she hasn’t had much to do on Y&R. Glad to see Chandler Massey, Don Diamont, Michael Muhney nominated. Some good, some bad as it is every year.

Katherine Kelly Lang NEVER gets anything & I love her!

Agree-Harmony on Y&R? She’s done nothing worth getting a nomination!

I know. It’s quite sad. Not saying every year she should get a nom, but there have been years when she’s been phenomenal and def deserved at least a nom, but nothing. I don’t get it. Seems like some people are nominated all the time just for showing up.

I agree Gloria and Mo

My vote goes for both Steffy and Stephanie for Bold and Beautiful. And that’s about it.

I question the wisdom of some of the pre-noms in some of the categories. So, here goes my dissection of the pre-noms:

Lead Actress:

Jeanne Cooper should NOT have been put on the pre-nom list at all. She did not have a strong storyline at all last year.

The fact that Katherine Kelly Lang from B&B was again not on the pre-nom list is another glaring omission. KKL had a great year last year.

Another omission would be Alison Sweeney for DOOL. She definitely should have been on the pre-nom ballot for Lead Actress, especially for her work when Johnny went missing.

Lead Actor:

John McCook for B&B?! Seriously?! He did not have lead actor material at all last year. Someone mentioned on another message board that Ronn Moss from B&B should have been included, I disagree. Ronn is not a good actor at all. Half the time, he just phones it in.

Michael Muhney finally gets a pre-nom and he richly deserved it. I hope he makes it onto the final Emmy ballot.

Stephen Nichols for Y&R????? Seriously?! That one puzzles me to say the least.

James Scott as EJ on DOOL also should be on the pre-nom list also for when Johnny went missing. Huge omission there.

Supporting Actress:

Like many others, I’m very surprised that Genie Francis made it onto the pre-nom list. That never should have happened.

Elizabeth Hendrickson is another questionable choice.

I also question Debbi Morgan’s choice for Supporting Actress for Y&R. I really hope she makes the final Emmy ballot for Lead Actress.

Nadia Bjorlin should be on the final Emmy ballot as should Arianne Zucker.

Extremely surprised by Gina Tognoni’s addition on the pre-nom list. I watched OLTL during its final year and she just didn’t have any strong material.

I however am surprised that Melissa Archer didn’t make the pre-nom list for OLTL.

Supporting Actor:

I’m hearing that Bradford Anderson didn’t have good material last year at all and some are surprised by his addition to the pre-nom list for GH.

I don’t know enough of Sean Blakemore to make a judgment about his pre-nom addition.

Matthew Ashford in Supporting Actor is the right move for him. He deserved that pre-nomination. Whether he makes it on the final Emmy ballot will only happen depending on the material that others who made the pre-nom list submitted.

Trevor St. John and Roger Howarth from OLTL not being on the pre-nom list are major and glaring omissions. They deserve to be recognized for their work and they weren’t.

Scott Clifton’s addition for B&B is an excellent choice. He had some awesome material last year.

Greg Rikkart for Y&R is another head scratcher. I’m a bit surprised he made it onto the pre-nom list. Greg did not have a good year last year. So, I’m not sure what scenes he submitted that got him on the pre-nom list.

Billy J. Miller being added is no surprise. He always brings his A game every year when he’s on Y&R.

Younger Actress:

The only questionable addition is Christel Khalil from Y&R. She is not a fan favorite and she does not have good acting chops at all.

Shelley Hennig for DOOL?! Who even remembers her anymore?! She was on at the beginning of last year before she exited the show. She won’t make the final Emmy ballot. If she does, I’ll be shocked.

If this category were to come down to two, perhaps three actresses, I’ll say Lexi Ainsworth, Jacqueline McInnes Woods, and Kimberly Matula. Those three ingenues will battle it out for Younger Actress on the final Emmy ballot. None of the other actresses will be able to hold a candle to those three. As much as I like Jacqui and Kimberly, I’m rooting for Lexi due to the fact that she was robbed of her Emmy last year. There was so much outrage from her losing to an actress from what I’ve heard who could not act her way out of a paper bag, much like Christel can’t either.

Younger Actor:

This category is chock full of excellent young actors who had banner year’s last year! My choices for the final Emmy ballot are as follows:

Chander Massey (DOOL)
Bryton James (Y&R)
Austin Williams (OLTL)
Chad Duell (GH)
And the fifth and final spot (should the voters decide to go that deep) is a toss up!

Kevin Schmidt (Y&R) should NEVER have been on the pre-nom list due to the fact that he was hardly on the show at all last year.

So, that’s my assessment. What are you thoughts?

Do you think Stephen Nichols’ pre-nom is in the wrong category? I can’t think of any other reason it would puzzle you. I mean, honestly, you couldn’t think Chander Massey deserves an Emmy but not Stephen Nichols, right???

Ok I watch both soap operas and to be honest Stephen Nicholas is not a lead actor and he is good actor, but show nothing that was quite emmy worthy. Chandler Massey is very talented actor for his age and gave emmy worthy perfomance. Both are good actors , but Joshua Morrow and Eric Braeden did better than Stephen Nicholas, but did not submit any thing.

Good LAWD! No James Scott??? No wonder there’s no respect for the Daytime Emmy’s! Complete & utter sham!!!!!

What happened to Susan Lucci? Did she remove herself from contention?

anything that has to do with one life to live .best actress, best actor ,best writing ,best soap,Im torn between erika and kassie i love them both ,same with jerry and robert.best writing team one life to live ,best ever soap one life to live ,and I say one life to live again because for so many years they were ignored and now that abc/disney canceled the soap,it will never have another chance to win,and thats so wrong. I wonder if we will see the emmys,so far no one is willing to show them.sad .

what happen to Melissa Archer, Bree Williams, Michael Eastman, and Andrew, Trevor,Farah , John Paul all from OLTL. Did they miss those talented actors.?

Andrew Treschetta?! Seriously?! He can’t act his way out of a paper bag to save his life! Sorry, but that is one actor that I’m glad was not on the pre-nom list. Austin Williams (Shane) can and does act way better than Andrew can dream of doing.

Personally, I’m inclined to say that both have improved, as has Shenell Edmonds and Patrick J. Gibbons, but none of them are at the point of deserving a nomination.

The only time I found Austin Williams to be believable, was a brief moment when Shane became convinced that the presumed dead Gigi was really his mother.

Kelley Missal, on the other hand, has come a very long way, and I see Florencia Lozano’s fingerprints on that talent. Where was her pre(pre) nomination?

Woohoo. Matt Ashford has only back on DOOL for 6 months and already has an Emmy nomination !!!!!! Nice work Mr. Ashford Congrats!

Erika Slezak more than deserves the award. As for pitting Chandler Massey,Austin Williams and Eddie Alderson against each other..Wow! Talk about ‘Sophie’s Choice’. Damn! Speaking of the Aldersons, where the heck Kristin’s pre-nom as Starr? I’d replace Shelly Hennig with her anyday. Wait,i just noticed something else. No Trevor St. John or Florencia Lozano? Really?

Congrats and well deserved nominations for Erika Slezak, Jerry Von Dern, & Eddie Alderson. Gina T, Robert S. Woods, John Wesley Shipp, & Kassie D are talented but I just feel others were more deserving of the nominations, smh and just Wow that the popularity contest still rules over talent for the daytime emmy process.

James Scott should have been included.

You are 100% right!

Erika would be the best win. Should she not get it, which I doubt, it will go to Blair.
NOT sure who will win male. ???
NLG deserves to win for supporting actress. But will she? I doubt it.
Supporting actor will be hard….As much as I HATE Spinelli’s character, he is a good actor. But I want Jason Thompson to get it!!!
Is Molly going to win ?? (younger actress)
I bet Shane wins at OLTL. He was good last year in the bullying storyline.

As usual GH has more noms.

Melissa Archer never gets pre nom.. i dont understand why.. shes a great actress that deserves to be and shes had some amazing scenes/storylines in the past, especially this year.. n Where is Bree Williamson on this list.. Shes another one that should have been pre nom. no one does a crying scene like Bree.. Shes gotten nominated in the past but never wins.. soo sad! They’re both amazing and will be missed.
Hope Kassie Depaiva or Erika Slezak wins outstanding lead actress!

Of course Erika Slezak, Robert S. Woods, Gina Tognoni, Austin Williams (Shane Morasco) And what hapen to Michael Easton & Melissa Archer…..ONE LIFE TO LIVE (BEST SOAP OPERA) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Roxy should have gotten something (she’s quite a character)………………And Kassie Depaiva…..

I’m rooting for OLTL all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My vote always goes to Crystal Chappell she’s a fantastic actress, always gives 110% to her roles, she deserves to win Outstanding Lead Actress In a Drama Series!

Crystal Chappell gets my vote for best Leading Actress (ALWAYS)
Nadia Bjorlin gets my vote for supporting Actress (DEFINITELY)

I vote for my competition CARLY Actor (Crystal Chappell)
Lovely Molly Burnett

I can’t believe Shawn Butler was nominated. What’s this…no Kimberly McCoullogh? She was robbed! Also how did Debbi Morgan get a pre-nomin for Y & R? She’s only been onscreen for what a month!?!?!

Michael,

I agree that Debbi Morgan should not have gotten a pre-nom as supporting actress for her role on Y&R. She hasn’t been on the show all that long for her to have gotten any decent material to present. She made her first airdate late last year.

Chad Duell~best younger actor

How old do you have to be before you are no longer considered “younger” as in the “younger” actor category. Because I am wondering why Christel Khalil is in that one.

I don’t know how it will all play out, but there have been some performances in the last few months that have knocked my socks off. Jason Thompson’s this week was one of them.

[I am only familiar with ABC soaps.] Agree on the glaring omissions! Unbelievable OLTL’s Florencia Lozano (Tea) and Ilene Kristen (Roxy) not included, and Trevor St John (Todd/Victor) and Kelley Missal (Danielle) weren’t in the pre-nominations. Lozano and St John have been incredible for the last couple of years. I don’t understand how or why they have been repeatedly passed over.

I am happy for OLTL’s Kassie Depaiva (Blair) and hope she wins. She deserves an Emmy for almost 20 years of consistently great work. Jerry verDorn (Clint) is also worthy, but neither Kassie nor Jerry likely have a high enough profile to win compared to the other big names. John Wesley Shipp (Eddie Ford) and Austin Williams (Shane) are certainly deserving too.

I am amazed GH’s Maurice Benard (Sonny) and Steve Burton (Jason) are nominated for the same monotonous characters year after year. Where is Kimberly McCullough (Robin)? At least James Franco wasn’t included. Congrats to the younger GH nominees: Lexi Ainsworth (Kristina), Haley Pullos (Molly), and Chad Duell (Michael).

I misunderstood. These are not the nominations but the pre-nominations from the list Michael posted on February 12. So the people included here may be excluded from the final list of nominations. Will any OLTL actors survive other than Erika Selzak?

I agree ,but you have to throw kassie depava in there to ,she is a good actress and I never understood why she was never up for any award ,especially when one life to live went live ,she was brilliant .so i will be happy if one of those two win ,and I hope that one life to live takes all the awards, the best everything, love and miss my favorite soap.

My objection is that Kassie DePaiva did not have a lead story, so she should not have been submitted in the lead actress category, much like Gina Tognoni should not be on this list for supporting.

I hope OLTL takes all the awards too!!!!!!!!! They deserve it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love the OLTL stories…………..Heart-warming…………..And there was suspense.. ETC………….The was the best soap out of the three!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have my wine and lmao! Alexa asked: ” How do they get thes nominations with no story? ” David answered: ” Extortion? Slept will someone? Sold their soul to the devil? Mind control? Bribery? Cheated the process? Threatened to kill someone? Blackmail?

I replied to him: “And you’re talking REAL LIFE, and not soap plots. LOL LMAO! ”

And Barbara, you “dont give a rats ass” lmao! hehe haha. heheha ha. lmao. You guys are hysterical on this damn site when you guys want to get a point across! Damn, she left her 2 cents at your post. lmao. I thought that’s what we are suppose to do…… Better yet, don’t leave 2 cents (economy is too bad) better leave a quarter. LOL hehe haha.

I know Michael HAS TO get his laugh on sometimes on here. After One Life went off the air, it was bad on the site. We were all in mourning and on ATTACK. We couldn’t get our hands on the executives, so we went after after one another; it didn’t make sense. I hope no drinks and take to the site after the 39th Emmy Awards. Lord if someones favorite doesn’t win… I’m staying clear of comment. LMAO!

Just imagine if we could have gotten our hands on the executives after One Life went off? They would of went home with their clothes torn off….. lmao!

I don’t understand how many of these individuals were nominated when, simply stated, they had no story. Does anyone have an explanation, other than political bullshit or some kind of prejudice? I would really like to know.

Extortion? Slept will someone? Sold their soul to the devil? Mind control? Bribery? Cheated the process? Threatened to kill someone? Blackmail?

Cute, but I already implied this without the more explicit way (not that I ever have a problem with telling it like it is) of expressing it. I was talking about specifics, but thank you for playing/patronizing.

You guys are funny on this damn site when you guys want to get a point across.

@ Daivd: ” Extortion? Slept will someone? Sold their soul to the devil? Mind control? Bribery? Cheated the process? Threatened to kill someone? Blackmail? ”

And you talking REAL LIFE, and not soap plots. LOL LMAO!

seriousy, alexa,I could care less about what you object to.

Why should you care about my objections? I expressed my opinion; I am not asking anyone to agree or anything else. Am I supposed to care that you don’t care (I’m guessing that you don’t even though your words say you do, but whatever)?

and I expressed my opinion also, and I dont give a rats ass about yours, this is what you wrote to me,my objection is that kassie depava did not have a lead story so she should not have been submitted, well I think she did,you left your 2 cents at my post ,and Im telling you I dont care what you object to,and now Im expressing my feelings.so now we are even.

So happy Kassie DePaiva and Erika Slezak are in the group, woo hoo! Vincent Irizarry, awesome! Michael E. Knight, great! I think Bree Williamson should be on the list. She did a great job as both Jessica and Tess. Austin Williams on the bullying issue, good job! Florencia Lozano should be on this list as well. Jerry Verdorn, happy for him. Maurice Benard, cool! Gina Tognoni, way to go. Hillary B. Smith, so happy about that. Jacqueline MacInnes Wood B & B should be on the list. Robert S. Woods, congrats! I could go on and on and maybe I will on another e-mail.

I don’t see Hillary B Smith on this list.

another good actress .nora and tia.what do these people do throw a few names in a hat then each one pulls out a name ?I hope one life to live gets all the awards for best actor ,best actress, best writing and best dam soap ever, and it shouldnt be gone and brought back.

I agree with you TOTALLY!!!!!!!!!!! (Barbara t.) 3/3 comment at 6:56am)

@Todd you know I swear I saw her name on that list. I guess it was wishful thinking on my part. She really deserves to be on that list as well. There are so many that deserve to be on there. They should create new categories to give them all a chance to be nominated.

Have any of you seen Venice the Series it is a web show that includes a cast of many soap stars. It is great to see them in a different setting. Some of the cast memebers are Nadia Bjorlin, Crystal Chappelle, Galen Gering, Hilary B. Smith, Peter Reckell, Susan Seaforth Hayes, Gina Tognoni, Jordan Clarke (GL), Jessica Leccia (Inez-OLTL) and so many others. There are too many to name. Check it out!

Ok, I don’t mean to be an ass about this, but how in the Hell did Gina Tognoni get on this list? I mean, what exactly did she do to deserve this? I’m a huge OLTL fan, but I don’t recall any outstanding performances coming from her. I noticed that Florencia was not on the list, neither was Farah Fath who in my opinion killed it on the rooftop and what about Melissa Archer or Bree? There were so many that should be on that lilt, but Gina was not one of them. To me, that’s like a throw-away nomination…..which means it’s just a name thrown in the basket, just to fill an empty spot. And I have to say is, OLTL better win for best soap…..no other show deserves it.

I love Gina, as well, but she had no story and admitted herself that she didn’t reclaim her character until shortly before she left the show.

Also, Kassie DePaiva did not have a lead story, so where does this nomination originate? I also heard she had a very weak reel (which seems to be the popular reason Kimberly McCullough was not nominated).

I don’t see how Florencia Lozano could be omitted again.

How are the awards revamped again?

Exactly….Florencia, Bree, Melissa, & Erika were the actresses that were HEAVILY featured on OLTL last year. Hell, Farah was featured WAY more than Gina….so this nomination just makes no sense. And did anyone else notice Eddie Ford on the list? That’s a freaking joke! I mean he was only on the show for what, a month, before he was killed off? Then I’d like to address Kristen, Kelly or Shennell weren’t mentioned for the younger actress category. I don’t see how this is any different from any other year. I may be biased because I’m such a huge OLTL fan, but the entire cast really stepped up their game this past year and delivered some great performances….and it seems like they are being treated like the red-headed step child yet again. This is how I break it down in my mind….if I had to choose Leading Ladies, I choose women who carried stories throughout the year, you know really dug their heels down into the stories… Examples for me would be: Florencia, Farah, Erika, Melissa & Bree.

Now if I were to address the Supporting Ladies…..these are women the co-piloted some of these great stories. They assisted in making those scenes great. I would choose: Robin Strasser, Kassie, Kim Zimmer (Loved her scenes with Viki), & maybe even Susan Haskell (because watching her & Melissa on screen together was always a no-blink moment.)

To address the Leading Men, that’s easy…..Jerry Ver Don, Trevor St. John, Michael Easton, & I’m gonna definitely put Mark Lawson’s name in the hat ( for Leading or Supporting. Cause let’s face it the DNA work that he did was amazing!)

Supporting Actor….John Paul, Robert S. Woods, Roger Howarth…(I know I’ll get some heat for not suggesting him for Leading, but he came on at the end of the run, and by this time, Trevor had done most of the heavy hitting…just how I feel.)

Younger Actress….Kristen, Kelly or Shennell

Younger Actor….Austin (aka Shane)…enough said.

And of course best show…OLTL!

These are just my thoughts and opinions…and I may take a little heat, but that’s ok, because the current list that the Emmy’s have is just ridiculous. Hell, if nothing else, let the fans pick the nominees, since the academy can’t seem to get it right.

So true!!!!

I go along with all your picks ,including kassie depava.

You remember the good old days, when we used to have the Soap Opera Awards? Think they were sponsored by Soap Opera Digest. It seemed like that award show got it right more often than the Emmy’s. Over the years of watching The Daytime Emmy’s, I have often felt like I was watching the same show year after year….same people nominated, same shows winning every year…it has become a snore fest, that more often than not, seems to favor CBS soaps…

I think it was the soap opera digest ,I forgot about those, the emmys are the same every year one life to live was always ignored, all my children to but mostly oltl, young and the restless got all the awards .but I never could figure out why oltl was never up for everything actor, actress, writing, best soap, its always been my favorite ,no other soap will ever come close to the way i felt about my favorite characters from landview,I hope this year they win several emmys.wonder if we will get to watch it ,no one wants to put it on.guess we will have to find out who wins on the net.

I hope to GOD that some of the actors and actresses from those FINE shows that were Cancelled etc..win to show appreciation for their fine years of performances. GO ROBERT WOODS!! Would love to see others win and not always the CBS crowd.

I agree,I hope one life to live gets them all .

So do I !!!!!!!!! OLTL all the way!!!!!!!!

I hope Chandler Massey wins for younger actor and Shelley Hennig for younger actress. She was amazing in her reveal scenes with Mark Hapka when he barged in on her in her weeding dress and uncovered all her lies.

This list sucks! In what world could OLTL not have 1 nomination possible for younger actress but DOOL can have 4….when Kristen Alderson delivered every day of 2011 as well as Kelly Missal. Also a head-scratcher is how neither Farah Fath or John Paul Lavoisier made the cut. The scenes of them talking down Shane from the rooftop were classic and some of the most powerful of the year. Gina Tognoni as the only OLTL supporting actress. Really? OLTL consistently mangled her stories. The scenes from the double wedding should have placed both Melissa Archer and Bree Williamson on the list. Again no Trevor St John or Florencia Lozano. Trevor’s scenes in which he found out he was Victor and tried to convince Tea and Dani to move to Hawaii were the best of the year. I loved Jerry’s performances as well, but Trevor deserved a nomination. Florencia Lozano was OLTL LEAD actress for 2 years! It is a crime that she has not been prenominated. Lastly….there should be a special award for Roger Howarth whose return provided the best storyline of the year in all of soapdom. There was little love for OLTL. Gina will not be nominated, John Wesley Shipp was on for like 2 minutes, and Jerry and Bob Woods performances are too subtle to ever be recognized. I think the only chance for last year love will be Erika Slezak and I pray Austin Williams.

Agree with everything. It’s as if there was no connection between the pre-noms and the reality of what we saw on OLTL. So many others deserved recognition for years of solid work and this was their last year for that chance. Bizarre and disappointing. The fans should have their own People’s Soap Choice Awards.

Both of yall should know that days of our lives 90% of time is snub in nominations and at the emmys awards, but. do agree with you , that at least Kristien Alderson should. have been given a nod, but One life to Live is usually does not get any nods in this category and Days usually does not get any nods in lead actress or supporting actor, were one life to live does get nods.

What happen to amc kendal, Zach, David. JR’Greenlee, Ryan, and then Roxy, Tea, from OLTL?

I think tia should be on that list to.shes a spit fire and I like her ,im hoping she and victor pop up in port charles to continue the story of 2 todds.

So happy for Crystal Chappell…a well-deserved nomination. I am also really happy for Robert S. Woods…

Melody Thomas Scott HANDS DOWN IS the only nominee in the Prelims….SHE DID THE BEST work on Y&R and of course Ms.r Cooper should also be nominated for her body of scenes with Tucker, and Bryton….but MTS deserves the Emmy,…..pay attention……actors, she is in a class by her self………..just give her the EMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I’m glad chandler massey , arianne zucker, crystal chappell , molly burnett, Kate mansi, and. Matthew Ashford made the list. From. Days, but james scott should have made the list for lead actor. I will also glad to see. Kassie Depaiva, John Wesley Shipp, Austin Williams , and Robert. S woods from One Life To Live. , Kristien Alderson should been given a nod. .: to be continue

I find it interesting that Days’ ONLY Lead Actress pre-nom went to an someone that they fired for bringing the ratings down (they claim). If she wins, more egg on this show’s ratings-challenged face.

They really said that? I actually started watching Days again when I found out Crystal was coming back…but I stopped when she left again :(. I thought there were a lot of ppl who started watching Days because of Crystal’s return.

I started watching again because of her also. Yes, they blamed her for the poor ratings. Who are they blaming now?

I so glad michael muhney (Adam) for Y&R made the list as well Billy Miller , Jeanne Cooper , Melody Scott Thomas and. Michelle Stafford, but Kevin Schmidt should not made the list, the dude is medicore actor at best.

I’m glad I waited for the official announcement of the pre-noms before getting too excited. They are some names on this list that weren’t mentioned before so it’s a nice surprise. I am a little surprised that gh got so many prenoms. The actors are all great but weren’t really given a lot of good story lines to work with last year imho. I’m crossing my fingers that this is KDP’s year. It amazes me that she hasn’t won before. I wish Roger Howarth and Mark Lawson would have been on the list but I think their was some tough competition. The biggest surprise to me though is that Florencia Lozano didn’t make the list. I have to say that the catergory I’m most disappointed in is Lead Actor. The word is that Tim Leary is a shoe in which is fine but lets at least give him a run for the money.

Gotta love that Crystal Chappell is the first name and picture on this list. Go, CC!

Very interesting that the only leading lady for Days is the one they fired right after she shot the scene that got her pre-nominated. All the more reason to take it home!

Congrats to Ari, Molly, Chandler, & Nadia also! Good luck!

Yay! So happy for Crystal Chappell. Go CC!!!

I am rooting for Crystal Chappell. She brings life to any soap. Its time she gets another Emmy for her work. We neeed her back on daytime TV. Revamp CC is the girl todo it!

After the performances Melody Thomas Scott has been giving last year and the past few months in particular, THIS IS HER YEAR! It’s high time they give her the Emmy she’s deserved for 33 years!

Couldn’t agree more, her name jumped out at me because she is hardly ever recognized for her work, and this year in particular she was unbelievable.

Well said! The voting process was a joke for years-all about popularity! Hopefully this year, with the changes they’ve made, that’s finally over!

Crystal Chappell gets my vote for best leading actress. She is an amazing an inspiring individual that gives 100% + in everything she does. Happy for you CC you so deserve it!!

Mark Consuelos Celebrates One-Year Anniversary as Co-Host of ‘Live’ Alongside Kelly Ripa

Today, April 17th marks a full-year since Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo, All My Children) took over the co-hosting duties of ‘Live” alongside his wife, and longtime co-host, Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley, All My Children).

Consuelos replaced Ryan Seacrest who are six seasons decided to be back on the west coast full-time. For Consuelos, now having the opportunity to work off of Ripa as co-hosts has been something of adjustment for him, but viewers have been eating it up.

Live with Kelly and Mark has remained the No. 1 entertainment talk show on television over the past year, growing 3% in average total viewers to 2.23M per episode.  It is also the most-watched daytime talk show in the last year in key demos of women 18-49 and women 25-54. All of this, since the real-life marrieds teamed-up.

Speaking with Deadline, Kelly Ripa shared why the two are gelling on-screen, “I do think that there is something very possibly relatable about our relationship. We have disagreements like a normal couple, and we’re not afraid to let them unfold on the air and in front of America, and I think people find a lot of themselves in that.”

Mark weighed in how he has progressed as a host, and what he could improve at, sharing, “I’d like to get better at my interviewing skills. I’d like to get better at reading a teleprompter…I think I’m getting better at throwing to commercial. The other day in the middle of the show as we go to commercial, my sign off was ‘See you guys around.’ I mean, the show wasn’t over. The most obvious thing to say would be, ‘We’ll be back right after this.’ But I just said, ‘See you around.’ So we went to commercial and one of the producers (goes) ‘What was that?’ I don’t know… So for the next few sign offs, as a joke, I’d say ‘See you around.’ We got a kick out of it.”

Meanwhile, Kelly has given huge props to Mark, “I find Mark utterly compelling, really interesting, super funny, and he’s bold in a way like nobody else. He says what’s on his mind. If he’s thinking it, he says it.  I’ve done this a long time and oftentimes people will adjust their natural personalities to pander to what they think the audience wants to hear, and Mark will tell people what he thinks, and he doesn’t care if it’s not a popular opinion. It gives him an edginess that I think is really missing in the landscape today. Everybody’s so afraid to say anything, and Mark is unafraid to say exactly what he’s thinking.”

In a statement, Debra O’Connell, President News Group and Networks, Disney Entertainment shared, We could not be more thrilled with how Mark has seamlessly joined the show family as permanent co-host. His undeniable charisma and his and Kelly’s natural chemistry are evident as they deliver the laughs and smiles to our viewers each morning. We are incredibly proud of how Live has continued to evolve and that the audience is responding so enthusiastically.”

So, do you think Mark Consuelos is the best co-host his wife Kelly Ripa has ever had on ‘Live’? How would you say he is doing as co-host after one full year on the job? Comment below.

Jacob Young Shares Production Pic of Cast of His New Film Featuring Joan Collins and Nadia Bjorlin

Last month, during a livestream conversation on the Michael Fairman Channel, while promoting Jason Cook’s film, Four for Fun, and featuring soap notables Jacob Young (ex-AJ, AMC, ex-Lucky, GH, ex-Rick, B&B) and Brytni Sarpy (Y&R), Young revealed some intel on his upcoming movie project.

Jacob shared that he was set to direct, produce and star in a Agatha Christie-like murder mystery feature film, Murder Between Friends shooting in Prague.

The actor/director expressed, “I’m flying at the end of the March to Prague to direct, produce and star in a film with Joan Collins (ex-Dynasty). Nadia Bjorlin (ex-Chloe, Days of our Lives) is in it, and Toby Alexander Smith from Eastenders (ex-Gray Atkins). Plus, a couple of my Broadway friends and a very well known Czech actress (Hana Vagnerova). It’s very ‘Knives Out’ without having a hundred million dollars to shoot it, but still will be a lovely film nonetheless.”

Young is currently shooting the film’s principal photography abroad through April 17th.
