BREAKING NEWS: Easton, Howarth and Alderson To Head Back To GH in New Roles!

The news that every soap fan of both General Hospital and One Life to Live has been waiting to hear an update on is finally unraveling significantly according to TV Guide Magazine’s Michael Logan. TVG is reporting that it looks as if Michael Easton, Roger Howarth, and Kristen Alderson, will all head back to General Hospital, BUT in different roles!
TVG related that multiple sources have revealed that the original One Life to Live stars will soon return to GH after being forced to vacate the show for several weeks because of the legal entanglement over who has the rights of the usage of the Llanview characters, since Prospect Park has been trying to keep the characters somehow on the new OLTL canvas for their online reboot. It appears now ABC is just going to change direction to get out of the legal conundrum as they want these actors back. So fans of General Hospital fans will no longer see Easton as John McBain, Howarth as Todd Manning, or Alderson as Starr Manning.
According to the report, “ABC doesn’t want to risk any more legal entanglements with Prospect Park, which currently owns the rights to all OLTL characters, and the only way to do that is to have the three stars play characters that in no way resemble the current ones. Word is, GH head writer Ron Carlivati is devising some clever ways to work around the headache, even though John, Todd and Starr are now tightly woven into Port Charles society and all three are involved in blooming romances.”
GH nor ABC would confirm the development. However GH executive producer, Frank Valentini revealed, “I can’t really comment for legal reasons. It’s not like I’m trying to keep a secret. ABC doesn’t want me to say anything.”
OLTL’s new head writer, Tom Racina stated, “First it was, ‘Yes, we have these actors,’ then it was, ‘No, we don’t have them.’ I don’t know that any show has ever gone through this kind of thing before. It’s a very unique situation what with all these legal issues between the two parties but we came out of it very happily. You’ll see.”

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Brook Lynn and Chase Have Their Bachelor and Bachelorette Parties
On General Hospital, Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Chase (Josh Swickard) both were treated to Bachelorette and Bachelor parties to shake off any of those pre-wedding jitters. At The Savoy, the ladies have a touching and fun time with Brook Lynn.
The bride-to-be gives a speech to thank everyone for coming, while Lois lets everyone know to try the signature cocktail the “Brooklynn Chaser”, which gets everybody eventually and mostly, drunk.
When Tracy (Jane Elliot) questions Lois (Rena Sofer) as to why there is no music for the party, Lois realizes she forgot, and somehow, who does she call to the rescue? Spinelli (Bradford Anderson)! Saving the day, he winds up playing some tunes and later gets on the dance floor to ‘shake it off’ with the gals.

Lois makes a speech as the mother of the bride, and shares how proud she is of the woman Brook Lynn has become. Wedding games begin, including one of “hot potato” with a wedding bouquet.
When it’s time for the “Silly Poses” section of the party, Spinelli has now morphed from DJ to staff photographer taking memorable photos of the ladies to remember the evening by.

The best part of the event, was when Brook Lynn tries to get her grandmother Tracy out on the dance floor, which, at first, she refuses. After several of the guests bust a move, a tipsy Tracy joins the dance party after Joss mentions that if her grandmother Bobbie was here, she would dance. Tracy says “she agrees” and begins to cut a rug on the floor, much to the delight of the other women.

In the final moments, a tipsy Joss and Kristina (Kate Mansi) have a confrontation about Sonny, and Joss lets Kristina in more on Sonny’s behavior, which looks to have clued in Kristina a bit more as to how something is way off about her dad.

Across town at the Hatchett Bar, Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and the men with the exception of Anna (Finola Hughes) and Jordan (Tanisha Harper), all attend Chase’s Bachelor Party where throwing hatchets into a dart board for supremacy is the order of the day. Drew (Cameron Mathison) and Ned (Wally Kurth) get into some words over ELQ, while Dante makes a toast to his police partner, Chase.

Suddenly Dex (Evan Hofer) shows up. Chase thanks Dex for coming, but Dex gets some dirty looks from other cops on the force. Dante gives Chase his present, which is a signed baseball by the Boston Red Sox.
Ned (Wally Kurth) makes a speech that although no one is good enough for his daughter, Brook Lynn, Chase has come closer than anyone has, so welcome to the family. Running in at the end is Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez), who just left Brook Lynn’s party, and she toasts her singing partner, Chase, and to the great man that he is.

Cameron Mathison Previews New Game Show ‘Beat The Bridge’ (Promo)
As previously reported, Cameron Mathison (Drew, General Hospital) will be seen doing double duty this summer when he premieres in June as the host of Game Show Network’s Beat The Bridge.
Now, while Cameron will be the host with the most, that doesn’t mean he will stop playing GH’s Drew. In fact, Mathison taped the game show in 2023, so it will now air for the first time in 2024.
Taking to his Instagram this week, Cameron shared his enthusiasm and some new hosting snaps, sharing, “Our newest game show host reporting for duty😎 Head over to the Game Show Network YouTube channel for your first look at the show and don’t miss Beat The Bridge premiering this June! I can’t wait for you guys to see this!”

In Beat The Bridge, an enormous interactive bridge dares players to cross by stepping on the right answers to challenging trivia questions. As they play, each steps forward and puts money in their team’s bank, with bonus money for each successful crossing. Here’s the catch: the team gets to keep the money only if it can “beat the bridge” by returning one of its players back across before time expires.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Nina Confronts Ava for Sabotaging Her Relationship With Sonny and Signs the Divorce Papers
Looks like Nina (Cynthia Watros) and Ava (Maura West) are back to be each other’s sworn enemy number one. By the end of the Monday, April 22nd episode of General Hospital, the women know where they stand with each other after Nina goes in on Ava accusing her of wanting Sonny (Maurice Benard) all to herself, while her marriage has been on the rocks.
In story, at Nina’s office, Ava shows up to see Nina and says she is sorry about what happened with Sonny and that he reacted the way he did, acknowledging that is was over the top, even for Sonny. Ava says she’ll smooth things over, but Nina says she now understands how manipulative and transparent Ava really is.
Given their horrible history, Nina goes in on Ava and how she should never have trusted her. Nina wants to know how long has Ava had this agenda dating all the way back to telling Nina to turn Carly (Laura Wright) and Drew (Cameron Mathison) into the SEC. Ava says she never told her do to that, but Nina wants to know how long Ava has been playing her for a fool.

Ava says she moved in with Sonny to keep Avery safe and she wants to be on good terms with Avery’s father, Sonny. Nina thinks she likes being in Sonny’s inner circle. Ava tells Nina if she goes to him about her advising Nina to call the SEC on Carly and Drew, it won’t work. Sonny still considers Nina a traitor and he will think she’s lying because she’s so desperate to win him back. Ava says if Nina would stop blaming everyone else that maybe Sonny would respect her. Nina says “like he does you?” Ava says Sonny not only respects her, but he also counts on her.
From there, Ava launches into why she and Sonny understand each other, after all, Sonny is a powerful, turbulent, and sometimes violent man. She goes so far to say if Nina wanted someone to just sit by the fire with and play with their grandchildren, she’s got the wrong guy. Ava then talks about Mike from Nixon Falls (Sonny with amnesia) and how Sonny hid the darkest parts of himself from Nina back then, whereas with Ava they are the same similar creatures, so he doesn’t have to hide anything.

Nina wants to know just what Ava wants with Sonny? What is her end game? Ava responds that they understand each other, in ways she can’t with Sonny. Nina tells Ava she can go ahead and have it all and signs Sonny’s divorce papers. Ava walks out with the documents, while Nina in tears at her desk, takes off her wedding rings and has her assistant come in so she can messenger the rings back to Sonny’s address.

PP has the rights to everything to do with OLTL, but these actors have a choice where to act. And IMO they chose wrong. IMO if they are so disloyal to OLTL fans and all the work they, and PP have done, not to return, I for one say they can stay away. This is typical behavior for RH who abandoned OLTL at least 4 times and went to ATWT. OLTL doesn’t need them. Bring back Trevor St John as the “real” Todd. By doing this Ron and Frank further screws up GH and disrespects the show’s history and the fans.
You got that right! This is not fair! GH is a horrible show, and that’s why I don’t watch it. I didn’t even watch when Roger and them went to it because it was so stupid.

The actors chose to return to GH. It is their decision. ABC isn’t at fault. The actors can work where they want. JMHO.
@marfa. you can’t force what is not there. All 3 actors wanted to stay with GH. Nobody can take any actor away. If anything, it was PP who forces these actors to stop working for a few weeks which is not fair to the actors. they need to make a living.
First of all there was no OLTL when those actors were signed and PP had dropped their plans. Next the actors do not belong to OLTL exclusively. The actors are people with families who had been given a chance to have a job and gave OLTL fans a chance to see their favorites again. If you are talking characters that’s different…..take the characters and recast.
GH has a huge fan base that disagrees with you.
When all the actors from OLTL lost their jobs I thought it was awesome that GH found a way to re employ a few of them.
I for one am sad that all the story lines that these actors were woven into will now just abruptly end! I’m most sad for the end of the storyline that Starr was involved in, although all 3 actors who moved to GH had amazing story lines.
I for one would love to see something worked out so they can all come back as the same characters. This is all uncharted territory, so it will be interesting to see how this all plays out!
they belong tono one!!!! not really sure if ANYONE gets this… up until 4 months ago there was no OLTL. it ended LAST YR. therefore the characters & the actors were free to go ANYWHERE. & THEY DID. Screw PP & the back & forth BS they did with ALL the fans & the actors who played these characters.can’t throw it away & then when someone else wants it claim it as yours… I hope PP gets taken to the cleaners with the lawsuits… YOU SHOULD HAVE LEFT LLANDVIEW & PINE VALLEY ALONE IN THE 1ST PLACE.

well, I don’t agree with you… ABC has screwed up a few times, but they did it royally when they themselves put in writing that the peple they were leasing the rights of OLTL to the other company, sole rights to any characters. Dumb, Dumb, Dumb.
I have watched OLTL from the beginning, and GH from very early on (my mom must have had GH on when I was 3 or 4), cuz I remember Steve, Jessie, Phil from way back. When people would ask what my favorite tv show was, I’d answer OLTL. GH was 2nd place. But then ABC execs did the unthinkable and got rid of two great soaps and without making sure PP was actually going to go on with the show… I know there is a term for that , at least in real estate, something to the sale (or in this case leasing) is contingent on the sale of another property… you know what I mean. I thought it was great that ABC was able to keep some of the OLTL stars and characters, and yes it made a lot of OLTL fans into GH fans (me included). WIth the new writer and producer (also from OLTL) and the quicker pace, more story in the time frame, less dragging things out, mob stories not being #1 all the time, GH was actually a much better show because of getting the new blood from OLTL… including Todd, Star and John.
I’ll watch Roger being Todd any day, no matter where is showing up. I don’t understand why OLTL can’t just have a different story line and we keep our storyline on GH. It’s not like they will have any crossovers, that is abundantly clear with GH having to give these actors new characters to play…
It’s a shame, but I’ll keep watching. I can’t imagine Roger not being entertaining no matter who he is playing….
Wondering how they end Todd & Star being on GH… so “todd ‘ will be back in llanview for a little while, so I wonder if he and star will have a plane accident, MIA or such… and John will just be out there somewhere on FBI assignment.

but my first reaction was ‘ahhhh, no.’ Really wanted them to keep the characters they’ve been playing. Can’t imagine Roger and Kristen not playing father/daughter anymore. It won’t be the same, but hopefully it won’t be as bad as we think it could be.
On the other hand, for GH viewers, Jason was still on GH after he forgot who he was and became so different then he was before… and that worked out ok.
The actors can NOT work where they want to work, they are under contract to ABC. Roger Howarth obviously has a different contract than Easton and Alderson because he’s slated to do a month on OLTL before his GH return. When their contracts expire with ABC, then they can do what they want. Alderson said she didn’t want to comeback to OLTL online before it fnished it’s run on ABC, and Easton was one of the FIRST actors to sign up with Prospect Park before it failed to reboot the first time.
Does anyone here actually know anything about Intellectual property and contract law? There was and will always be a OLTL, it is owned by ABC under copyright law and leased to PP. Those rights never lapsed and so PP owns all the characters. GH must have their permission. The actors are a separate issue. They can sign where they choose, but must live up to the terms of their contract, which we don’t know. So, they might not want to go to OLTL or they might not be allowed to. But they do have a choice where to work and ABC has a choice to allow them to. They have made exceptions in the past. Actors frequently work on several projects simultaneously.
Personally, I find RH, KA, and ME irritating. So if they don’t want to go back to OLTL, the heck with them. Many much better actors are making a sacrifice to come back. They seem to make a living for their families too.

I totally agree. Please take them off of GH and return them to OLTL. Ugghh. Otherwise, if you’re going to keep these 3 actors on, you might as well give them new identities as they have NO TIES to Port Charles!!!
Think about writes of GH, they have no families anymore that will come and visit. You’re not going to see “Stars” mother, brothers, aunts or uncles. John will never have scenes on Gh with any family (Liam, Natalie, Michael McBain).
It is BEST to scrap their OLTL ids and make them totall new people or send them packing to OLTL where they belong.

First off, the “characters” are heading back to OLTL it’s the actors that are staying in GH. And quite frankly, you can’t blame them for wanting to stay on GH (a network show where they are getting paid mor money) for an online series that is a huge gamble especially given PP track record. I totally respect their decision.
They all are getting new identities that’s what it is saying. The characters belong on OLTL not gh. GH will have the actors but OLTL will have the characters Todd, Star and John-exactly like it should be!
Send them packing where they belong. No knew id’s. Cause think about it, what “knew ” character has ties to Port Charles. The bottom line is WE fought for the return of OneLife and AMC because of these character’s, and to see them on another show is CRAZZZZZY!

Uhhh…all along the OLTL fans have been screaming that the CHARACTERS belong to OL. Well okay – you get John, Todd and Starr back. Enjoy. However, the actors don’t have a contract with PP or OL and are free to pursue employment with anyone. They chose ABC ( and GH). Done. It’s called free enterprise.
Yes, I DID read. I was agreeing with someone who was defending the position of NEW IDENTITIES. There are people out there who do not want them to have new identities.
For the record, I do not blame Michael, Roger and Kristen for wanting to stay on GH> I support them 100%. It is the fans that are crying about the new character’s they’ll play that are the issue. My point was that it is pointless to keep them known as Starr, John and Todd when they’ll have no past, family etc…. Ugghhh!!
To Dani um OL got their Chars back and GH kept the actors. And that is how it is. And I can NOT wait to see Michael Easton back on General Hospital. No matter “WHO” he is! Luvin it!!

My point was it is BETTER TO HAVE THEM PLAY NEW CHARACTERS so don’t complain about it. That was my point and what my response was given to. I’m HAPPY they are playing NEW characters since STarr, John and Todd wouldn’t have been able to have the OLTL visits from Blair, Tea or anyone else from OLTL.

what’s the fuss? OLTL fans want the characters back, now they got their wishes. GH fans want the 3 actors, now they get their wishes. The actors wanted to stay with GH, and now they got their wishes too. This is a WIN-WIN-WIN situations for all parties involved. As a GH fan, I’m thrill to see all 3 actors back to GH canvas. Can’t wait for their new storylines to unfold during May sweep! 🙂

Agree. This sucks. But, I will adjust to new actors playing Todd, McBain & Starr on One [More] Life To Live. (Someday, they’ll be together, again in Llanview.) I will NOT let this turn of events rob me of my joy at the Return of the Soap.

PP was not allowed to offer them a contract as ABC put them under contract in despite of the Agreement between ABC and PP. So yea I agree they were not given a choice they were TOLD where they are going to work by ABC!!!
All 3 actors WANT to work at GH. Yes, they DID have a choice. If they had wanted to return to OLTL ABC would have released them . I don’t usually say anything good about ABC, but they were good enough to offer to release the actors from their GH contracts if they wanted to return to OLTL. All 3 wanted to stay on GH. And, yes, Mo , the contract is better with ABC than PP.
PP did offer them a contract and all three said “No thanks” . That is what you call a choice.
Sounds like the actors didn’t want to go back to NY/Conn anyway…so it doesn’t matter. GH doesn’t need them but the writer wants these actors…so be it.
I am glad they are coming back to GH but not as different characters. ME will not be the same if he is not John McBain and his chemistry with Sam will be different. This is sad. If they would have just left One Life to Live alone and not cancelled it, for the show that did not make it, then we would not be having this problem. ABC is wrong for this situation and for not working with Steve Burton and now he has left the show. OLTL needs to be put back on TV also, not on this computer website.
Also we have watched Starr grow up and now she is going to be a totally different person. Not happy about it.

I agree with you. Thrilled they will all be back on GH but different roles?? That’s stretching it, unless Todd decides to change his name and can still technically be Todd!! And John Mcbain can use an ‘alias’ name because he’s hiding from someone but still be John.. Starr? idk!

Plus, Roger Howarth is so much better on OLTL. I love him, but I did not follow him to ATWT when he played a different character.

This is not Frank and Ron’s call, it’s ABC’s. Remember, Frank and Ron also signed on to PP during the 1st reboot, they were loyal to OLTL.. if it was their call, I have no doubt it wouldn’t have been an issue. It’s funny ABC is making all this fuss over something they deemed worthless.. now all the sudden they care about their soap opera properties.
Well, keep in mind — there’s a new regime at ABC Daytime than the one that cancelled OLTL and AMC. A new regime that has shown evidence they value daytime drama.
I agree AJ…ABC is like a little spoiled kid that dis-guarded a toy and said they don’t want anything do with it anymore and then when someone else takes an interest in it the SPOILED ONE wants it back….ABC outta grow up!!

When ME took a picture of Mcbains boots I knew something is not good. I cannot even begin to imagine these 3 not being their original characters. I love them so much and cannot wait to see what the heck is going to happen.
I’m glad that GH has the actors back. I just hope it all works out them coming back as new characters. I will be watching for sure!:)
I think it’s great.As actors they need to play different roles to expand their skills.Playing on character for to long makes it difficult for them to find other roles….So for their sakes I hope it works out!
I am glad they are back on GH! But as different characters I am not sure. What happens to Natalie & baby Liam & John’s brother? I guess a new character to play
his role on the reboot of OLTL…..This is all weird situation . I liked Todd as Starr’s
father & Blair as her mother. So use to seeing them as John,Todd, &Starr!

TARLY you show me ONE article where all 3 actors say that they did not want to go to OLTL. ME was one of the first ones to sign up with PP. And if they wanted to work for ABC why not let them say it??
Personally I could care less if the actors return or not and when them 3 are out of work again DUE TO ABC GIVING GH THE AX which they will, well I say TOO BAD for being STUPID and staying with a LYING BACKSTABBING company who screwed you before!
Joliefan Forever You need to realize PP failed the first time around to bring OLTL online. I read PP statement November 2011 In that statement PP said they were NOT bringing OLTL/AMC online after all. It was a done deal PP wasn’t bringing the soaps online. The next thing that occured was PP made a deal with GH to lease the 3 characters (ONLY THE CHARACTERS) for $$$$ The actors all signed contracts with ABC GH. PP at that time was dead in the water so to speak this is how all of this occured. PP then in January 2013 announces they will be bringing OLTL/AMC online after all. PP then wanted to work something out to share characters. The actors had the choice if they wanted to do crossover. ME has a family and they live in CA. ME’ s mgmt was the first to come out and say ME has no plans to return to OLTL. So that was RIGHT from his mgmt team. Fans should understand the man has a REAL wife and child to think about. I am sure ME didn’t want to leave them in CA to go to CT for a month at a time. WE also don’t know what else PP wanted from these actors. RH did agree to crossover his family still lives on East Coast. After RH was on OLTL taping more issues arose. Which one of the actresses from OLTL addressed that this was becoming more complicated. I think everyone needs to understand this situation nobody planned but in the end the actors should not be blamed for at all. Both KA and ME’s mgmt teams have spoken and said actors are happy on GH and want to continue to work on GH. PP has the characters back so it is time for everybody to stop bashing and move on.
PP never said that they were NEVER bringing them back they said that even tho they could not go forward at that time due to financial backing falling thru and not being able to get the Guild contracts done that they were not giving up! ABC is the one that went to PP and ASKED them to use the characters ONLY IF the actors went with them, So PP agreed because they wanted the actors to be able to keep working while they got everything done, and an AGREEMENT was made between the 2 companies….So what they should not get paid for ABC using their characters but PP can pay them millions and a % of profits from the shows? When it was announced that OLTL was coming back they wanted their characters back and ABC made it so that lawyers had to get involved, and PP was LEGALLY given back the characters what does that say about ABC??….Then it went in to all of this….What you GH fans seem to ignore is the agreement that they have regarding these characters and more than likely actors, without a written agreement PP would not have had a Legal leg to stand on!
I have been a BIG FAN of ME for well over 10 years even before he came to OLTL and I have never seen his “management Team” make comments or statements for him, that was always done by Michael or his PR person, and you GH fans should NOT speak for Michael and what he wants or doesn’t want or what he thinks after all he is the only one that really knows! Which actress Erica or Kassie since them 2 are the only ones that have done interviews since the announcement about them coming back…..I don’t blame the ACTORS I put the blame where it belongs ON ABC’S DOORSTEP! And again being Legally bound by contract to ABC does not mean they choose to stay on GH……
Joliefan, I’ve been a ME fan since he was on DAYS. I watched all three ABC soaps. I am still furious with ABC for canceling AMC & OLTL. I do not presume to speak for Michael. He spoke for himself on Twitter and on Facebook. He said he wants to stay at GH. That was his choice. He could have been released from his ABC contract, but he chose to stay. Lawyers got involved when the ACTORS told GH and ABC that they wanted to stay and that they preferred to keep playing the characters they were already playing.
I am really saddened that they will not be on OLTL. We all saw “Starr” grow up on that show, and I feel like she is deserting her true fans. John and Todd are who they are because of the fans, and I still feel that a compromise could have beern reached, As a matter of fact, from a previous update last week, I was under the impression that Todd was indeed coming back to OLTL. 🙁 Oh well the show will go on regardless, and we have lost and gained many charecters on all three of these soaps over the years, (including Todd/Victor Jr) and adjusted and stayed loyal. Even when the storylines needed life. I am very excited to see AMC and OLTL return!!!

The characters ARE going back to Llanview. Only the actors–who have contracts with ABC/GH and WANT to stay there–are coming back as new characters.

Viewers are pretty smart. Much more so than conventional wisdom credits them. Why pre-judge before you know what will happen?
That means they are GH forever? I kind of like the idea of them going back and forth between soaps, as they respective characters……..but I am not going to complain….just happy all the soaps are on……I think it’s hard to get used to them as different characters…as in the case with Jason on Y & R………and Jessie and Angie…could not watch them. Oh well.

The article says ABC decided to rewrite their characters because they wanted them on the screen sooner rather than later. Once again it’s ABC decision not PP.
It is the ACTORS who decided they do NOT want to go to OLTL. PP has the rights to the CHARACTERS but not the rights to the ACTORS. As the actors decided they want on GH why not go ahead and get them back onscreen? The actors themselves want back at work on GH ASAP. It was the actors that decided it, not either ABC or PP.
ABC owns their contracts, PP owns the characters-are you saying that the actors dictate to ABC what they want to do? I don’t think so.

Tali, yes ABC owns their contracts and ABC said if any one or all of the three actors wanted to return to OLTL they would release that actor/actors from contract. The actors themselves chose to keep their contract with ABC and stay on GH. NOWHERE DID I SAY THE ACTORS “DICTATED” TO ABC ANYTHING.
ME & KA have both tweeted, and in Michael’s case, Facebooked that they want to return to work on set at GH as soon as possible.

I didn’t see the word “dictate” anywhere. But the actors do, indeed, have contracts with ABC, and indicated they’re perfectly happy to stay where they are. Prospect Park couldn’t force them to come back to OLTL, and certainly ABC/GH wasn’t going to do any such thing. So yeah…the actors were kind of the linchpin here. They didn’t dictate anything, but their preferences certainly were pivotal.

@k/kay LMAO ITA I think it’s going to be a total flop. Not being negative, just realistic. Michael, Sam and Carly are going to meet those three again and what
have ANOTHER instant connection or those three are going to have the SAME dialogue and say ” have we met before” or ” you look familar” Sam met TWO of Michael Easton’s characters and was connected to both of them. I hope the next time ME/KeMo DON’T pair up, it was soooo FORCED & PREDICTABLE last time. I KNEW exactly how their scenes were going to be played out , because RC/FV made them soo predictable and made Michael Easton way too dependent on KEMo for s/l and work. Sam hardly interacted w/ others. Majority of Sam scenes were w/ McBain. They were BETTER on PC, they wasn’t forced. on there They should test ME w/ others and years down the line (GAG) ME/KeMo can pair up. They should have them as friends the next time. I dont want another contrived forced ME/KeMo pairing. They NEED to pair ME w/ someone else. ME should expand his horizons and do a role that has doesn’t have anything to do w/ PC.
I don’t necessarily think they are needed on GH. There are other characters/actors who fill everything. I watch both. oltl will always be my fav though
I love all the actors on GH. I’ll be interesting how GH pulls this off. I love Kristen with Chad Duell, Roger with Laura and Michael with Kelly. In fact Duell has sparked up quite a bit with having both Kristen and Sean Kanan in his orbit. Just think that these new characters wont have the baggage that their OLTL personas had. GH is in a very strong creative renaissance so I think this might work. If anything it’ll make us all tune in more to see if it works. PP should just give ABC the rights to the characters and be done. The new OLTL should concentrate on what they have especially if the GH transplants did NOT want to join the new reboot anyway.
I couldn’t agree with you more!! Sucks that RH, ME and KA have no say in what show THEY want to be on — they obviously don’t want to be a part of the reboot. I’m sure they are thrilled to stay with GH but we’ll see how this plays out…
ITA, Robbyrob. PP should have just given 3 characters to GH if the actors themselves do not want to go back to OLTL. Forcing the characters back, PP just ended up with 3 costumes, no less. Had they let them go, they could have once in a while bringing them back for a guest visit. Now they just lost those 3 forever. Good luck to PP!
We Lost actors FYI Sweetheart Actors can be replaced! And they are being replaced because Todd Starr and John will be home on OLTL where they belong!

David, actually ABC still OWNS both the shows OLTL, AMC and the characters for both shows. They only licensed the shows to PP. Maybe ABC did try to buy the rights to those three characters. Last I read PP planned to recast those roles. And speaking of ABC still owning the shows, OLTL, AMC, and only licensing them to PP, that license isn’t forever. It has an expiration date.

ABC sold the rights to the shows and everything that comes with them to PP for MILLIONS because they don’t want the shows, If they own the shows still then why would they need PP’s PERMISSION to use those characters? Robbyroy, I totally agree with you. PP should have lost all claim to the three actors when the deal fell through the first time. Even if they signed on with PP it didn’t happen and when offered a job at GH they took it. IMO PP is the one who is being unreasonable. They need to give the characters to ABC/GH.
AWESOME! So glad the actors are returning to the show that they want to work on! I will accept them in any role. I’m a fan of both OLTL and GH for over three decades and I find it a shame that the characters couldn’t crossover between both shows but from all I’ve read PP wanted to approve storylines of the 3 as well as Caleb and other Port Charles characters. If that is true, GH had no choice but to move forward. Is anyone else confused about RH- I read that he returned to OLTL so they wouldn’t recast Todd. I doubt he is actually Victor as that is a OLTL character unless he plays that on OLTL and then returns as someone brand new for GH. Time will tell. Just glad the actors are back. Oh, and please no hating – this is my opinion and I’m entitled to it.I’m a OLTL & GH viewer for over 30 years not a sheep as others have been called. Can’t wait to see what RC comes up with. More great stories to come.
Personally I will be extremely grateful to see all this back and forth drama done and over with. I don’t know how Kristen, Michael or Roger’s characters are going to change; nor how the writers are going to do it. It all seems like a huge ball of wax.1

Sorry – but you are incorrect. GH can create the characters as they see fit and it will be up to PP to pursue legal action IF they think the characters closely resemble the same attributes. I can totally see Rogers character being a “businessman,” Michael’s character being a detective, and Kristen’s being pretty much similar to what she’s doing now. It amazes me how the fans are upset because the actors do not want to do an online show for less money. Unbelievable.
How do you know they make less money Kelly? Are you the actors accountants? If not then you know nothing! And when PP sues GH for Copy right infringement you GH fans can try to spin that too! And I find it funny that their is not one article with all 3 of them saying that they did not want to return! Drink some more Koolaid sweetheart!
Thorsten Kaye confirmed they are making less money in an interview with Carolyn hinsey. He said it was worth it to him because of the close proximity to his home.

Well the Actors have a 3 year contract with ABC so I doubt they are gonna let them go.
They’re coming back; reporting indicates as new characters. Fans want them back, and so does the network and so does the show. So they can finally come back to work.
AMEN! ABC should just let them be…tear up the contracts and move forward. Let them go back to OLTL. They have left town, so time for new blood. Too many out of work soap stars need a job. Bring back some of our favorites from As The World Turns. Carly needs a new man…bring Michael Park in to play another guy named Jack. Then we’d still have CarJack, just with a twist.

If they are going to pull crap like this, why not just make OLTL and AMC completely different shows with different characters, ignore the roots of it all and just give them the same names as the former shows. Well Sandi Taylor. Sharing between two shows is not going to work. It has to be permanent in one show, and guest stint on another but not sharing equally. Sharing equally means you’re asking for these characters to live double lives and worse, to be two timers. How do you expect Todd being shared between Carly and Blair unless you want him to be a cheater?! That’s just an example. sharing ain’t gonna work. ABC did the right thing by deciding to make the trio into new characters and get rid of the legal mess that PP has brought on.

The actors have contract with GH so their home will be based in PC until the contract runs out. You want John to sleep with Sam in PC every night and then pays Nathalie in landview a visit with some sort of one night stand before he heads back to PC? Didn’t think so. Sharing just make those 3 characters nothing but cheaters. The characters need to stay in one show only. And you OLTL fans have won in this case, the characters remain in landview. Not sure why you guys are still bitter about this.

I’m a big fan of RH since he came on GH. And was going to watch OLTL-2 on Hulu just to see what he would be doing. Now that RH will not be Todd, I’m not going to watch Hulu. so yeah, there will be boycott by both fanbases. 🙂

This is disappointing – I’m a fan of all of these characters on OLTL and GH. I think they made the transition into Port Charles appear seamless and the storylines are all working. It’s sad that the ‘powers that be’ can’t figure out a way to make it work for the actors and the audience. It really takes away from the new launch of OLTL, when it feels like they’re preventing the storylines from moving forward. I enjoy the crossover and think that both shows could benefit if they could work it out.
This is going to do nothing for the launch of OLTL! Please OLTL still has the characters and they will be home on OLTL where they Belong!!! YAY THE REAL TODD IS COMING HOME TSJ!!!!!!

Now Trevor has to come back (hopefully please) at some point to OLTL 2.0 – or there will be no Todd at all unless they recast. Maybe it will turn out that he (Howarth) isn’t Todd or Victor but a 3rd brother with a different name? a clone? lol. That way he could keep the same personality.. Easton could come back as “Stephen Clay” who is maybe actually a psyco or could have some sort of redemption perhaps. Alderson could be easily recast on 2.0 and with a change of hair color a new GF for Michael. I would have rather seen some cross-overs instead of this and recasts. But if given the choice I think it is a small sacrifice to pay to get One Life back.
Hey Im an Actor thats been working in both LA and NYC and I have a few friends that do extra work on The Client List and from what they’ve told me TSJ is not very interested in doing OLTL 2.0. He’s been booking tons of work in Primetime and thats where he really wants to work. Not taking this for gospel because I heard it 2nd hand, but as an Actor I could totally believe it because EVERY actor wants to make it in Primetime.

It’s evident you know nothing about film or television, Joliefan. Five weeks is barely long enough to shoot an indie film, let alone a big budget. And if you’re a regular on a primetime series — sorry, but you aren’t going to take five weeks off to do a daytime serial. Travis has shown much more sense than your blathering. YOU might want to do some research yourself.

Wow JolieFan I’ve now realized you dont read b4 shooting off at the mouth. If you would have read the actual comment, Pen said regular contract role. As a guest star of course you can shoot an episode, because primetime shows shoot anywhere from 8-10 days per episode. Pen said if you are a REGULAR on a show you can’t do that, which they are right. Please read before telling people what they meant. This is my business and no actor thats a regular on a PRIMETIME show can take 5 weeks off to shoot other things. And I’m not speaking for ALL ACTORS, but most actors want to be on a hit primetime show, and if you tell me I’m wrong then clearly you know nothing about this business. It’s not just about the actor. Every team, from Agent to manager wants their client to be as huge and popular as they can be. And please dont tell me to do research. My research is being around actual people in my Industry and field, not reading articles on the net. Please, half that research is being written by Press Agents putting SPIN on most of what you are reading.

Also if you had actually read the comment and the point I was making, I wasnt saying that Trevor was on contract. Re read my comment and you will notice not once did I make that statement. If you actually took the time to read it instead of being on the defense and ready to battle, you would have seen we were just talking about tv show shooting schedules and the time it actually takes to shoot a show as a regular vs. being a guest star. That phrase WAS NOT ABOUT Trevor. You seem to need to be right. All I can say is UGH…..what a headache. I would like to see the characters AND the actors stay on GH. I know Cartini can work magic but I’m not convinced that I will be able to buy these actors as new characters now. We’ll see.
Im happy they are staying with GH but not that as different characters, ABC has the money, why do they not fight them on this?? Ill say it again Prospect Park made a mistake in LOANING them to ABC if they had intentions of them bring back the soaps in which they did, did they really think the fans would say OK THEY CAN GO BACK TO OLTL??? Happy they will remain with GH but this is one mess that could have been avoided!!!

Thankfully ABC did just what you said & did return the characters. We all knew that the Actors don’t belong to Prospect Park and have a choice to work where they want. I’m glad the actors are happy and am excited to see what happens next. Who will be the new Todd? If Trevor doesnt return, there will be a completely new Todd Manning in the mix. WOW. And what will Roger’s new character be on GH. Can’t wait to find out! The bad thing is that there won’t be any cross promotion between shows. That would have helped OLTL 2.0 but I’m sure Prospect apark considered this. They must be prepared and will certainly have another way to drum up viewership. Looking forward to April 29.
everyone’s missing the point here-PP owns EVERYTHING OLTL-including the characters of Starr, Todd, and John, However-they DON’T own the actors playing those roles. Everyone will see Starr and co. on OLTL eventually, if this report is true (there’s much more here than everyone’s reporting). Just watch both shows already, the Llanview 3 may have to be recast-get over it

The shortsightedness of Prospect Park could cost OLTL viewers.
They are embarking on an ambitious “test”. If these shows work online they are missing the opportunity to crosspromote. All soaps have survived when major characters were killed off, left, etc. OLTL has been away long enough and has enough vets that if its going to be a success it will. They are ensuring that three of their most popular former stars never set fot in Llanview again. of the three, Ill give you Howarth is irreplaceable and from the sound of it Trevor St John has no interest in reprising his role. I do have a feeling they may have gotten him, or will get him, for a cameo. Just to resolve the cliffhanger. Having these characters go back and forth for story arcs would have been tremendous. It could lead to many great stories that would have only strengthened both OLTL and GH. Seems to me PP dropped the ball in a big way.
WTF part of the A-C-T-O-R-S are going back to GH NOT the C-H-A-R-A-C-T-O-R-S……So no this does not affect OLTL. So many of you’s need to learn to read the actual articles instead of just the headlines, they could not do crossovers with characters because you can not show John in bed with Natalie one day and the next day or a week later he is in bed with Sam, the characters and story lines could not overlap on either show and that is exactly what would have happened Neither ABC nor PP could do crossovers……

Prospect Park didn’t drop the ball…ABC did. From what was reported in the past Prospect were okay with them going back and forth, if was ABC that wasn’t.
Let’s not turn on Prospect Park. It was ABC that cancelled the shows, it was Prospect Park that allowed One Life To Live fans to have a piece of Llanview live on with GH until/if they were able to reboot the show.
It is BUSINESS. For both parties…they’re not in business to make the viewer happy. They WANT the viewer to be happy so that it translates into profit…that is a given. Just like all businesses.
Personally I would have liked the three actors to stay on GH…although I was a huge fan of OLTL and hope the reboot is good. I’m looking forward to it. But I got used to them on GH. With that said, two of the three didn’t want to go online with the reboot.
Think it’s a crazy idea to give all three characters new identities…but I’m willing to play along and my curiosity is piqued. We shall see…
Why would this cost OLTL viewers? I know this sucks, but the characters get to return-that’s all I’ve been hearing from certain GH “fans” that they want the OLTL’ers to return. Actors can be recast, it’s part of life

GH does not depend on OLTL viewers, they have their own. Did Frank and Ron bring along some OLTL fans by bringing over the characters of John, Todd, and Starr? Of course, but let’s not forget this show has been on the air for nearly fifty years and those characters didn’t show up until the beginning of last year.
It’s all good..recast….it’s been done before and it will be done again,i THINK ALSO THEY ALL BELONG TO OLTL…but you know they could fine some great talent and we will get on board….
This is how I feel, because it seems to me RH is incapable of playing the original version of Todd anymore. This hyped up [GH] comedic version is very tiresome non-stop, so I think he will benefit from a new role. At least I hope so. It’s been stomach churning for me to watch this instant LOVE obsession of his for Carly.
I’m looking forward to the changes at OLTL and so hope that TSJ and Ted King will come back.
I hope that TSJ comes back, but last I read he hasn’t been approached. I guess they won’t be addressing how Tomas/Alcazar look alike. Oh well.

I haven’t watched GH in years but would imagine this is not welcome news to GH fans. After a year, I’m sure these characters have become part of the GH fabric and it seems silly to have these 3 faces suddenly show up as different people. As a OLTL fan, I feel the show can certainly do without these 3 characters. People leave town all the and life goes on. Does this mean OLTL will recast the roles? That doesn’t make sense. I don’t watch GH but am aware that those character’s lives have continued while they were in Port Charles. I guess we’re supposed to pretend the last year didn’t happen.
What a mess. Once again, thank you to the short sighted, dark hearted power brokers at the alphabet network for creating yet another mess for the fans.
Was a Michael Easton fan long before he was on OLTL and am glad he is staying on GH. The actor wanted to stay on GH. He has mad chemistry with Kelly Monaco that can’t be denied. I’m glad for this ending. GH can work with the actors without PP impeding on their creativity. If PP hadn’t made certain demands, the outcome would have been different but again ABC gets the blame.
I love how people think GH fans will be disappointed. I for one am thrilled, I too was a fan of ME before he came to OLTL/GH, I loved him as Tanner on DAYS back in the day. Watching Kristen grow up before our eyes as Starr, I think it’s great she gets to play someone new. I’m really excited, wish there was a date on their comeback. 🙂
ABC had no right to sign these actors to long term contracts knowing that was going to go against the agreement with PP. So really all of you GH fans need to quit trying to blame PP for something ABC created by thinking they could walk all over PP and they would just roll over! GUESS WHAT THEY WERE WRONG! I think you’ve got the story reversed! PP can make all the demands they would have wanted to me they own OLTL characters. ABC didn’t want them that’s why they canceled OLTL, duh!
No, Tali. PP can’t make demands on GH characters like Sam and Caleb. They went too far. Read HNY for some of the demands made. They were trying to mess with characters that were NOT the OLTL three.
Actually it is only a headache for ABC not PP. Read the article with Kassie, PP is going by what happened last on OLTL, they are not following what GH did with these characters!! So all this GH crap is RC’s mess to clean up not ours HA!
I think Ron’s got this covered. When all of this started, ABC offered to give the characters back right away; it was PP that said, “No, let’s share!” Ron and Frank already had a plan to transition the actors to new characters. So I don’t think this will be an issue.
I love what RC & FV have done with GH so there’s no headache for ABC. Cartini can be creative and so can the actors. Fresh roles or perhaps legendary characters. Maybe Kristen can play Serena Baldwin and Lynn Herring can stay in the mix? Roger can play some Quartermaine or Cassadine. Michael can play Lorenzo. Possibilities are endless. And Kassie tweeted to the show’s casting director about her new love interest – could be Todd or even someone else. Lots of possibilities. I think the fans of both shows need to be commended though. GH fans expressed interest in having the actors return even if different characters while OLTL fans said they wanted the characters not the actors. All of our comments paid off. They listened. More power to the fans!

The mess Joliefan is referring to I believe is the mess that they have to try to bring them back as 3 completely different characters. From reading these posts most General Hospital fans don’t want them coming back as different characters. I don’t think it is going to be easy for them to create likeable believable characters that the fans will accept, after them playing very popular characters.

Craziness. ABC cancels the show, has PP PAYNG for the rights to the characters and then won’t release their hold on them. Granted, PP does not have legal rights to the actors but I am sure a short term deal could have been worked out had everyone tried.
I feel bad for the actors. They lose their jobs, relocate across the country and then get embroiled in this nonsense.
If the roles are recast, people have to look at it from a business standpoint, not an emotional one. OLTL could try to bring back TSJ as Victor and that might help ease the disgruntled fans.
I suppose Todd could have been a triplet, John have another long lost brother and Starr….hmmm….

Rumor has it.. Brion Frons set this in motion..he hated the soaps & pushed. I don’t think ABC “got” it till fans went bonkers. I think by that time damage & Frons getting rid of AMC & OL was in motion..sad I fought for OL so hard. FYI Brian Frons..was fired! And truly I would luv to see AMC & OL back on ABC. Fans DID get the raw end of the deal on this. BUT PP actions left very bad taste with me out of the gate. I just hope everyone enjoys their fav soap being back on. I really do wish you the best.

Im not here 2 sing ABC Daytime praises. But I think you are also missing the fact that ABC then also paid licensing fees back to PP for these 3 characters and then had the 3 actors sign contracts with them. Lets be real, most people including me thought PP was DEAD. But they eventually got enough funding and you are right the characters do belong to them, but the actors dont want to do it. And its not because they dont care about OLTL, but the reality is they already moved, and they will only be working 5 weeks on, 5 weeks off. From a Financial point, I would stay at ABC as well. Because if they did take the job, move BACK to NYC and then this doesnt work out…..Its easy for us to dictate where these actors should be going, but in reality we dont pay their bills.

Yes, ABC made the mistake of cancelling OLTL. With all due respect, the characters being on General Hospital allowed Llanview to be kept alive and with the increased popularity of GH, helped bring OLTL back to life. JolieFan Im not here to speak for EVERY fan, I said most people. And when I say most people, I mean people like me and other industry types. In my Business when people usually say that a project is being put on hold Indefinitely, that usually means DEAD. And I completely feel ABC should have never canceled these 2 Iconic shows, but Im 2 busy in my life 2 be worried about boycotting a network based on 2 shows. To be honest they were taking the lead from 2 other Networks that already did it, and guess what those networks Survived and they felt they could do the same.
Also you claim that everyone knew they weren’t dead. Well 2 the many actors that were attached to this project, they gave many statements that contradicts that statement. Most them moved on because even they too thought this was Dead. And at the end of the day these 3 actors owe nothing to us but themselves. All I’m saying is I’m tired of so called fans saying what these actors need to do. They only have to answer to themselves. And no they are not hurting for food, but you act as if you know what their bills are. YOU DONT.

I think it’s dumb. If they are going to stay they should be the same characters. Otherwise, what’s the point? They would be better off using the budget to keep their own vets. They are the ones with a history to GH and who fans are invested in. They are the ones who helped make GH what it was in it’s heyday. Jack and Kristina Wagner, Genie Francis, Ian Buchanan, Lynn Herring and Jon Lindstrom just to name a few. JMHO

Well…see, they’re actors. By dint of their craft, they play all kinds of different characters. It kinda goes with the territory.
A lot of the vets came back ONLY to honor GH50. From my understanding and yes some of them I would luv to stay if they can. I have NO idea what other projects they may have to keep them from staying on GH?
I am not happy about this at all. I don’t like that all of a sudden these three are gonna be back, and pow, they are all three someone else. I mean seriously, what about the past year?? It was all for the fans of OLTL. Believing in te Cartini like I always have I started tuning in when they came over to GH. I’m gonna miss these three people at OLTL however maybe them being different characters on GH will allow them to be on both shows as the three we know and love on OLTL, and different people on GH. It’s understandable in the sense that the writers don’t have to write based on what other writers are writing. With Julie Marie Berman gone now, who I fell in love with while at GH, and after the 50th a lot of the key classics leaving I’m not sure Ill continue to watch. IF I do, it would be to watch Sabrina Santiago!! I love that character. Have to see how this plays out, but I am def ready for MY OLTL 4/29!!!

We the fans worked hard to bring back OneLife and to see our character’s on that show. This hurts us. We will never be able to see the story of the two Todd’s., amongst our investment of these character’s for so many years?

I am thrilled that Michael Easton will be back. I can’t wait to see how they develop his story. I will miss John because he has been the first man that has ever treated Sam with gentleness, kindness and understanding.
John’s the only one I wanted to say because he FIT IN with GH, because his character is so different. On top of the fact that had had previously worked with Kelly Monaco.

I first would like to state that I am a 43 year fan of all abc soaps past and present before certain people start attacking me. When OLTL ended 14 months ago we all “hoped” that PP would get their act together and bring back the shows. There were no guarantees, just hope. So GH hired 3 actors and “borrowed” the characters. Then PP finally got it all together and then threw a temper tantrum and forced 3 people to stop working. Cartini worked their magic on GH and now they will once again. I have faith. True I would have loved for them to have worked it out that the characters could have stayed on GH but I give GH kudos for putting an end to this debacle and putting these 3 talented people back to work. In my opinion the writers at OLTL should focus less on these 3 and put their efforts into getting Trevor St. John to sign a contract.
There was no getting their act together Angela! Financing fell threw due to no fault of their own and they were having a hard time finalizing the contracts with the Guilds (( a lot of ppl believe that ABC had a hand in that too)) ABC asked PP to LOAN them the characters along with the ACTORS that played them because they NEEDED our fans to save their show!! ABC KNEW their time with them characters was limited but they sign them to 3 year contracts knowing that PP can and WILL legally take back them characters at anytime! What tantrum did PP throw? They PAY MILLIONS TO ABC for those characters and ABC tried to play bug bully on the block and keep something that does not belong to them! If anyone acted like a child in this it is ABC!!

I disagree. Ron and Frank wanted to employ actors they had worked with and wanted to make fans happy. Many OLTL viewers already watched GH. I don’t believe the OLTL crossovers saved GH. I think less mob storyline saved it. And returning favorites like Anna and Duke, Frisco and Felicia, Laura and Scotty, Lucy and Kevin. Great writing saved GH. Stories the audience loves. And soap viewers banding together. Young and the Restless saw an increase in viewers as did Bold and Beautiful. Fans came together and supported a genre that means so much to us. This is why OLTL and AMC will do well. Fans coming together to support the genre. 🙂

Here’s a question…Since Antioinette Patterson aka Skye Chandler Cudhay, Kinder, Davidson, Jacks Quartermaine has a history on all three, who OWNS her character!
ABC owns the character of Skye, remember at one time ABC owned all 3 shows! HOWEVER they do not OWN AMC & OLTL anymore PP does!

Well I was having issues watching them on GH and was jumping up and down when they left so I won’t watch GH now they feel wrong to me on GH when I’ve watched them for 10yrs on OL so after the 50th it’s bye to GH it was my least fav anyway I’m just p-ssed off on the whole thing I’m only supporting OL now

You read incorrectly. OLTL has the characters. The actors chose to work on GH. So, you’re happy, right? The three characters will stay on OLTL. That is what you want, right?

I don’t blame PP because they want what belongs to OLTL and those are 3 core characters that are important to OLTL….Do I blame ABC -yes they cxd OL in the first place and now they won’t release the actors if they want to go….jmo…the actors well they do have to do whats best for them but us OLTL fans were loyal to them for almost 10yrs can’t they give us at least the reboot like RH is???? Just to be clear I was and am a OLTL fan first I had pretty much stopped watching GH only reason I even started again was because OL was cxd and then they butchered our OLTL characters and what little HEA endings we got on OLTL I found myself watching less and less….then the vanpire crap hit and I suddenly had 3ms worth on my DVR unwatched……I don’t think people are seeing this right…..ABC is hoarding these actors and PP wants the characters which is in PP’s rights but typical ABC won’t even release the actors long enough to do the reboot even if they choose to so many are saying the actors dont want to do OL well IMO this is just assumtion as we have not heard one word from the actors as they are under a gag order….lets say they want to do it…they have to have the almighty ABC’s permision to do the reboot so YES I am holding ABC responsible and punishing them its back to boycoting all ABC which is nothing new i’ve been doing it since they cxd OL only occationaly watching GH.

Lynn, you say you believe it is assumption when people say the actors don’t want to do OLTL. I’m not assuming. Michael Easton said on Facebook and Twitter that he is staying in California and will return to GH when he is allowed to. Kristen tweeted she doesn’t want to return to OLTL. Her whole family is now settled in California and she loves it. If they’re under a gag order guess they’re in trouble.
I wish Kristen would change her mind because I love the relationship Starr has with her mom.
