Camyrn Grimes Returns to The Young and the Restless!

News that came first out of Soap Opera Digest late today has that Camyrn Grimes was on the set today at CBS and The Young and the Restless taping new scenes!

According to SOD, “Grimes first show will air on Monday, July 8.  Specifics are being kept under wraps but it is more than just a one-day visit. Grimes originated the role of Nick  and Sharon’s daughter in 1997 and played the part until the character’s shocking death in 2005, the effects of which are still felt in storyline today. The actress has made several guest appearances since then!”

So does the re-appearance of Grimes mean Nick (Joshua Morrow) is visited by Cassie’s ghost yet again, over his guilt that he lied to everyone about being the bio-dad to Summer?   Or, is something else at work here for Grimes?  A new role?   Let us know your thoughts!

just bring her back, she is missed and she is the best we love her

I wouldn’t mind her coming on as a brand new character. Someone who looks just like Cassie. That would be such a mindscrew for the Newmans. I can’t wait either way. Her death is still such a huge part of this show 7 years later. That says how important she was to Y&R. Welcome back Camryn!

I have been very vocal on this since the role of Cassie was done in by her death. This is and always will be the biggest mistake Y and R ever made in their history and thats saying something when u look at some of their collasal blunders. The story could have been just ad big if they had let her live and deal with the consequences and continue to battle life as a teenager. I eelcome tjis fine young actress back in sny capacity to let her shine and make up for their stupidity. All os us love C.G.

She is dead let her stay dead you cannot bring back someone from the grave after 7 years..If they want a Cassie look alike fine but don’t let her be connected with the Newmans..Give it a rest Y and R.

Dee agree it has only been 7 years and yet Summer is 18! Will not work some screw ups just are better left alone and move on.

Yeah, right? If she comes back as Cassie she’ll be younger than some people that weren’t born yet when she died! Gotta love soaps!

HOPE SHE IS SOMEONE NEW

I think its wonderful she is coming back. I hope she comes back as Cassie…should be an interesting storyline….maybe bring Nick& Sharon back together???

I an so happy that they are bring Camyrn Grimes back, Iove her as Cassie Newman I hope the have a great story line for her

I am so sick of writers not having new ideas for new stories and they can come up with is bringing back the dead..

why couldnt sharon have had twins,,,,hmmm…do i know something..as nick loses one daughter maybe he get another back,,,

That’s what I was thinking too. Cassie’s twin!

Well, if she isn’t coming back as a ghost– then the ever popular twin who didn’t know they were a twin scenario would be the way to go. All they have to do is come up with flimsy reason why Sharon didn’t remember giving birth to twins– and viola– she has a new role on the show, without bringing back Cassie from the grave.

All the replies show how much she is missed seven years later, this should show TPTB at Y snd R what a mistake it was, even if they never admit it.

I would love for Cassie to come back she played a great part and i would love to see Sharon and Nick get back togehter again.

Me too!

Hey there NEWMAN’s they Had Money it’s a SOAP BRING HEr BAck as Cassy Might as well they brought other people back to the Soaps lolololol all in all it’s make belive ok look 1 night Summer was a Little over night she’s almost an adult come on lolol Do it BRING her back she could be Unducked and finnaly found her way back 🙂 And Bring Back In SHARON’s MOM .

Cassie’s death was a pivotal moment (and the last great storyline this show ever had). Bringing her back as a twin would only cheapen the impact of her death.

I definitely agree, that story was absolutely amazing y&r played every beat of her death, it was tough for me to watch bc she grew up in that role, but I’m suspecting this is gonna be the start of nick and sharon finding their way back together. And a twin would cheapen Cassie’s death.

I think they should definitely bring her back. can’t wait to see what storyline they have in mind for her. please don’t let it be something really stupid.

Let Cassie have twin…as much as I loathe doppelganger stories, anything to put CM back on canvas & doing double time with Sharon Case & Josh Morrow. It would be wonderful if Sharon being so young had twins and Primrose orchestra the black market baby and sold it at the hospital with a lackey working for her, neither Sharon & Doris knew Sharon ever had twins…great story for a part of Cassie to return as young adult to be important facet to the Newman family.

Remember the days when Y&R told realistic stories without psychos, unknown twins and immortal villains?

Don’t bring her back as a ghost, PLEASE bring her back for the real Cassie. Don’t listen to all these stupid people telling you not too. You did it with Taylor on B&B and it worked just fine, it could have been the same thing with Cassie all these years. Nick needs her now more than ever. People when actors are killed off its cause they want to leave, but thinks change and I have seen them bring them back from the weirdest death ever. So I’m all for Cassie coming back and CAN’T WAIT!!!!

I’d rather we find Cassie has a twin than have another ghost hang around. I love John Abbott but NOT as a perpetual ghost. If they do bring Cassie back to life, or as a twin, she must stick around to make the ret-con worth it. Bringing Phillip Chancellor III back to life was a big waste of time.

She can be someone else since Cassie would not age, being dead, and Camryn obviously will.

Three possible solutions…1-yes they could bring her back as Cassie’s twin, it would lame and predictable. 2-Cassie could have been taken by her bio dad who has a grudge against Sharon and has brainwashed her all these years to hate Sharon & Nick. She is a doppelerganger who looks like Cassie that both Sharon & Ncik will bound over and get back together.

She’s sane. One week working for Jill Farren Phelps, she’ll quit.

And for the record, people, it’s been 8 years since she died, not 7.

May of 2005.

I think they should bring her back, but not as Cassie.

I think it would be nice to bring her back, but not as Cassie someone new that looks like her

I burned out on doppelganger stories but I would welcome one here and Cassie had a twin…use the history blame on Primrose. Sharon was young and her & Doris didn’t know thing about twins. Gosh CG grew up on YR and it would be exciting to see her back somehow or someway.

I liked Cassie and Grimes. However, I am thinking this could be a HUGE mistake. If Grimes is briefly returning for a few “ghost” scenes (ala John Abbott) with Nick and/or Sharon, that is fine. However, if Grimes is playing the “not dead” Cassie, a twin, or simply a Cassie look-a-like, I’m betting it will flop.

The writers over the past few years have attempted this several times: Phillip II faked “his” death so he could live as a gay man in Australia; the hammy actor hired by Jack and Sharon who looked exactly like John Abbott. These situations were complete flops. Thom Bierdz couldn’t act his way out of a paper bag and quickly disappeared to Australia while the viewers were left with what — the decades long mourning by Kay, Jill, and NIna didn’t mean a damn thing.

All of the writers have effectively used Cassie’s death in the plots. Nick and Sharon frequently mention it and, logically, it was a tragic situation that impacted them greatly. I haven’t liked a lot of the writing for this couple over the past few years (particularly, poor Sharon!) but I do like how the writers have always kept Cassie’s passing as a key event in their lives. If Cassie is not dead or this turns out to be a twin, it really undoes a LOT of what has been done with Sharon and Nick over the past 5-7 years.

Bringing Grimes back seems unnecessary to me. There are a lot of ways to improve the show. To me, bringing this actress back (and possibly Cassie) isn’t one of them.

Speaking of which….. where the hell is Gloria??? A one-time great character played by a superb, veteran soap actress who was reduced to the Genoa City “village idiot” before she completely disappeared. THAT is a character and actress I would bring back immediately. With one son on the verge of divorce and the other one facing legal issues, Gloria would be a welcomed and logical character to bring back full time!

I wasn’t watching when Cassie died however everytime Sharon and Nick are together at her death it brings tears to my eyes. If she could be alive that would be great. I’m still furious for ABC GH killing off Jake Jason/Liz’s son.

How could she come back as Cassie’s twin if Cassie’s younger sister Summer (born two or three years after Cassie’s death) has now been made 18 years of age? If Summer is 18 now and Cassie was about 16 or 17 when she died that would make Cassie THIRTY years old by now and what would that make Sharon and Nick – 50?! That just shows that when SORAS backfires, it backfires disastrously and makes the whole show laughably poor quality.

Sorry, I meant to say OVER thirty, not thirty.
Actually, if Cassie was 15 when she died and Summer was born 1 and a half years later, and Summer is suddenly SORASed to 18, that would make Cassie 34 and a Hal f years of age, which would make Sharon 50 years old, since she was 16 when she had Cassie.

You do know the math, I’ll give you that… But you should also know by now that age is so irrelevant and is “just another number” when it comes to soap operas! Jussayin 😉 #BringCGback

Y&r needs to check their facts for those of us that have been watching
Show since the70’s .when nick got the paternity test thee first time, there is no way he would have hurt Sharon anymore . Phyllis would have been fine going back to jack. Please don’t think you y&r fans picked up on every detail. Making jack the dad is clearly for ratings at adding Sharon to be there for all his confidential info is ludicrous . Please give your longstanding fans some credit. We remember everything.

Ala, I see your point but I’m a longtime viewer since it debut and always said Summer was Jack’s bio dad. As for Cassie, Nick not hurting Sharon he has many times example Grace anyone. I think by that point their marriage was in trouble and when Phyllis announced she was pregnant I feel Nick found a way to relieve the pain of losing Cassie. I love CG she has grown up on YR and I say bring on the twin, this is putting Shick in the same atmosphere which I personally would love…JM & SC still have it. Think how Nikki & Victor will react if Nick is seeing Sharon again…FUN dysfunctional stuff with the Newmans…love it!

I have been a Y&R fan since 1975! Yes, thirty plus years!! Cassie coming back would be the best. I named my second child after Cassandra ( Kassie) who used to be with Paul Williams. Then when they introduced Sharon & Nick’s daughter as Cassie I couldn’t believe it especially because my own daughter has the exact gorgeous red hair! My heart goes out to Jeanne’s (Catherine’s) family and cast members! She will be dearly missed by this long time fan!! Love this show after all these years!! It my daily me time to watch in the evening:) can’t wait to see Cassie again!!

OH hell yea “Cassandra murder” love it…I love Doug

The ghost route is currently being used by John, which I am fine with if they can’t find a realistic way to bring him back.

So, yes the twin route is the best. Keep in mind Josh has only been writing since Oct, and we’ve had no real “out there” stories by him.

I am okay with him NOT playing it safe on this one. Let him write something to get her back on screen.

Miss your icon Jeannie cooper

Anyone think Chelsea and Cane make a good pairing?

Please, please, please bring Cassy back! It would shake so many things up, not to mention she is absolutely beautiful these days! 🙂

I think she needs to be Cassie. It’s a soap!! Some how it was all a plan of some master mind. The writers of this show can come up with something. On Dallas it was all a dream Bobby had. I love her as mild and keep the family together Cassie. Bring her back!! PLEASE !!

I WOULD LIKE TO SEE CASSIE COME BACK HER ROLL IN THE SHOW IS OUTSTANDING WE HOPE TO SEE HER SOON
