Although today brought good news to Nashville fans, TV Line revealed that series star Connie Britton (Rayna James) will be having a reduced number of episodes, and will exit the show following show number 10 out of 22.  And, there is no word yet on how Britton would be written-out.

However, it should be noted that there is still an on-going negotiation with Britton and her reps with the Nashville producers as to how long her commitment will actually be now that the show has moved to its new cable home, CMT.

While Britton looks to be making an early exit, Hayden Panettiere will indeed be staying on through all 22 episodes along with the rest of the original cast including: Charles Esten, Sam Palladio, Jonathan Jackson, Clare Bowen, Lennon Stella, Maisy Stella and Chris Carmack.

I say leave on a high note, literally. NASHVILLE without Rayna & Connie Britton will resemble a “90210” episode with music thrown in. The only other reason to watch might be to see Gunnar and his ever-changing hairstyles. He is majorly cute.

Ouch, she makes the show, without her it will not be the same, though the show has an awesome cast!

Ricardo

No no, we need Connie in all 22 episodes, please bring her back full time. Connie is a terrific actress, and I love her character.

Rebecca1

Ricardo…they WANT her on all episodes. Sadly, she’s the one that wants out.

Rebecca1

Wow! Wonder if cmt knew that before they made the deal…I’m assuming so. I think it’s a real blow to the show.

Rebecca1

Very disappointed.

She shoulda left season 1 Hayden is the only reason to watch that show she is a star

‘When you have an A-LIST tv star in the mix, it’s bound to happen..She will not get paid nowhere close to what she will have been paid by ABC.

She is NASHVILLE with a great supporting cast..i will still watch the show until it’s completion, but losing her is sucks and the show will never be the same..That said, if she goes elsewhere, I will fallow her to another show..She is an amazing actor. An emmy win will sure fallow her!

Barbara from Atlanta

This makes NO sense. She is the star of the show.

Why “fight” a cancellation by ABC and move to a new network if the main actress isn’t even going to appear for the entire season?? The show barely squeaked by in being renewed for a 4th season, gets the ax from ABC thereafter, and miraculously finds yet another network only to have the main actress work “part time”??

CMT should cut their losses and cancel the damn thing!

Gail

NASHVILLE WITHOUT RAYNA IS LIKE SODA WITHOUT BUBBLES…FLAT AND NOT WORTH CONSUMING!

Rodd

The show has centered around her since the beginning. How do you do it without her?

Good luck to those who have to try and make that work.

I THINK WITH SOME GOOD WRITING THE GREAT CAST WILL HAVE A GOOD SHOW WITHOUT HER….

Helen

I have always considered this cast an ‘ensemble cast’ and though I will miss the character ~ the show will go on.

JK

IT WILL GO ON WITH GOOD STORY LINES….

I was thinking about this…if they don’t write her permanently out…and she scatters the ten episodes…she can still be a presence on the show in some way and IF it survives the first 22 episodes maybe she’ll reconside or still make appearances. I remember she didn’t seem too devastated when ABC cancelled it; rather “it was great now on to new things.” Ironically I heard that the actress who plays Layla, Aubrey Shea Peeples, was really active on social media to find Nashville a new home…and then they didn’t ask her back. I like her and her character! Great singer too! Loved Luke/Will Chase too and they also booted him off. Sigh…

Good Bye Ratings.
