DAYS Billy Flynn Delivers Emotional Performance As Chad Makes Peace With The Late Stefano!

On Tuesday’s episode of NBC’s Days of our Lives, one of the most talked about and highly-anticipated scenes finally hit the airwaves and did not disappoint!

The scenes featured Billy Flynn as Chad DiMera and Joseph Mascolo as Stefano DiMera.  In story, Stefano is dead, but Chad never got the chance to say goodbye to his father, a man he had his own contentious relationship with.   While having a drink and starring at the larger than life photograph of Stefano by the fire, Chad looks up and sees an apparition of Stefano.

Stefano tells Chad: “I’m here. Take your shots. I’ll listen.”   An emotional Chad sits on the floor by his father and begins to tell him that he is one of the scariest SOB’s he has ever met.  Chad also feels he owes EJ’s children for bringing him together with Stefano, and he also realizes how much he misses his sister, Lexi.  Chad tells Stefano, Lexi was the best of them.   Then as Chad cries, Stefano tells his son he is a good boy.

Next in a heart-tugging performance by Flynn, Chad tells Stefano that he wanted to make him proud, but he knew he didn’t cut the mustard.   Chad reveals he doesn’t know who to be now, and that Stefano changed towards the end of his life. Stefano tells Chad he wants him to learn to be the man he wants to be.   Chad hugs the apparition of Stefano.   In the morning, Abby (Kate Mansi) finds him asleep on the couch in the DiMera living room.  He reveals to her about the visit from his father, and that he finally feels free.

Once again, Billy Flynn proved why he is one of the finest actors in this genre always enfusing Chad with great emotional depth and complexitity that continues to make the audience root for this one of a kind character.

So, what did you think of the performance of Billy Flynn in the key scenes between Chad and the late Stefano? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!

He did a fantastic job. Yesterday’s scenes were worthy of an Emmy nomination for sure.

I agree and I was so glad to see Joseph Mascolo as Stefano DiMera again in new scenes.
Also today’s episode (March 2, 2016) was an honor to Joseph Mascolo for the many years he played Stefano DiMera. I don’t know why they color-bleach or sepia tone the past footage, but they were fun to watch.

I love Billy/Chad. He is a turn-on….sexy, passionate, good-looking and a great talent.
Nonetheless, Shell. I am confused as heck with the character. He’s neither coming or going….I am not grasping his role, yet…hmmmm.
Needless to say, I always enjoy Giuseppe Mascolo.

The performance will live long in the memory and on the DVR.

Chad needed that scene and we, the viewers, needed that scene. It was a great resolution to a complex character that was Stefano DiMera. Billy Flynn, who I hope DAYS has on a very long contract, never fails to find the nuances that make his character Chad stand out. Joseph Mascolo will be missed but not soon forgotten.

Billy Flynn done exceptional as Chad talking to ghost of Stefano…BRAVO , BRAVO BILLY FLYNN!!! IT EMMY WORTHY!!! hugssss i am huge fan of yours!! <3

Beautiful, well written praise for Billy Flynn!! He is excelling as an actor by the day. Great raw emotion used to always deliver an awesome performance. Thank you for the article and thank you for the wonderful acting Mr.Flynn:)

It was heart wrenching and I felt every word he said

Yes, we’ve see far too little of Chad and Abby–they just disappeared off the canvas–and Ben has escaped? Tell me things will heat up again.
And, btw, just between you and me, is all this current mess with Hope shooting Stephano and Steve taking blame for Joey’s smothering and killing of Ava just a bad dream a la Bobby Ewing on Dallas? Tell me I’m correct now, ok! Otherwise where to go with these dead-end stories (pun intended–lol!)???? Nightmares, indeed!

He has improved so much…hope he gives acting lessons to the teen set…guess Bens escape means the kidnapping of Abigail and she will not be found until a new actress takes over the role.

I thought Kate Mansi aired through May at least. That would be a long time with no Abigail.

im not sure…

Congratulations to Billy Flynn on a very impressive performance.

Days is his first big job. If he’s this good now then can you imagine what he’ll be like with more years of experience? This guy is gonna go places, and will accomplish much.

I agree, Eddie. I have been saying/thinking the same thing for quite some time now.

He is so multi-dimensional. He will be an incredible actor on the BIG screen some day.

We need to enjoy him on DOOL while we can. His DAYS are dwindling, I am sure.

Totally agree

Excellent performance!

Although I am weary of soaps using “ghosts” or “visions” of characters that are dead, it was a good scene but why couldn’t they have done it when Stefano was alive– a vision telling you exactly what you what to hear is hardly realistic or meaningful– but yeah he acted the scene well—- it took me a while to warm up to his playing Chad, now I can’t imagine him not playing him, so kudos to Mr. Flynn– it is rare for a recast to out shine the original actor in the role.

He is so talented, and I’m not just blowing smoke. I look forward to his scenes just to see what choices he is going to make! The complexity that he has infused into the character is amazing. I love him on Days, and I love the character of Chad, so I selfishly don’t want him to leave. I have been watching Days since I was 3 or 4 so I know the value he is bringing to the show……. BUT he is going to do great things wherever he is. He is doing it in Daytime and I’m sure he will be amazing in movies and/or prime time. I really want to see him in a cable show. Maybe Homeland opposite Claire Danes?? They’ would kill it. I keep telling my hubby this actor is IT, real deal.

He also needed the story and the dialog. He’s finally getting nuanced material. His story is the bright spot in a dismal period for Days, creatively.

Amazing performance! He knocked me back in my chair and I was pulling the kleenex during that marvelous exchange between Chad & dad…heart wrenching truly–BRAVO!!!

Wow…beyond touching. Thank you Billy Flynn for gracing us with your immeasurable talent. Bravo on a job well done!

I wouldn’t mind Stefano being a ghost/memory a la John Abbott on Y&R.

I still don’t like Billy as Chad.

Well acted scene, but drawn out and I was glad it was at least explained, as few things are, as a “possible dream”.
This show lately is a total snooze, and of course now, predictably, they have announced that Ben has escaped….watch out Abigail.
I find much of the show a little boring and the “same old same old”, I could tell that Patch was going to take the rap or attempt to take the rap for what his son did to Ava, that was pretty predictable.
For a while there, the show was quite innovative with Paul being the closeted Professional Baseball player who once knew Sonny, and Will feeling threatened by him. Now, it’s the same old tired soap plotlines, father attempting to cover up his son’s murder, mother being very protective over her teenage son, etc etc yadda yadda yadda.
This doesn’t mean that I think the actors aren’t proficient, I just honestly feel the writers need to come up with more complex and diverse storylines.

Yes, Billy Flynn is amazing. I was shopping around for a show as I was done with GH and his work is really what hooked me into Days–a show I hadn’t watched since the 70’s. Watched a bit last April and then came on board fully in August. Kate Mansi took a little warming up to, but she’s pretty great too. This particular episode should be great for an emmy reel as he displays range throughout the episode. He just makes Chad feel like a real person.

I think Days has done a great job this week. The fallout from Ava’s murder, the Stefano celebration, Eric/Jenn stuff and Brady bringing Summer back to Salem. Looks like setting up for some pretty great stuff. I’m on board and very glad I made the switch to Days.

Love Billy Flynn. I thought form the beginning he was the perfect choice for Chad.. He reminded me of a young EJ Dimera. Terrific actor for sure.
