DAYS Casting New Contract Role Looking For Gorgeous Female! Who Would You Suggest For The Part?

Courtesy/NBC

Days of our Lives once again continues to usher in and out characters,  and now comes word that the series is casting another new character to the canvas!  According to Soap Opera Digest, the NBC soap is looking to cast the role of “Val”!

“Val” is said to be 25-years-old, gorgeous, female, who is described as “passionate, intelligent and sensitive. Val blows into town in a whirlwind… She appears successful on the outside, a girl who seems to have it all but … at times she has a fragility and (vulnerability) that gives us the feeling of a painful past that she desperately wants to keep secret.”

The role will begin taping in mid to late December, but will not air till May of 2016, due to DAYS production schedule of being almost six months ahead.

So, put your casting director hat on! Who would you like to see come to Days of our Lives to play the part of “Val”?  Who do you think fits the bill? Comment below!

Bree Williamson? Maybe a bit too old but she could certainly play that and play it well.

At 35 Bree Williamson is too old for the role.

Yeah…. I would have loved for them to have cast Kassie DP in a role that was more suited to her age, instead of casting her in a role that was 10-15 years younger and then put her in a relationship with her daughter’s 18 year old boyfriend. Let’s not have a repeat with Bree.

Elizabeth…. Kassie is only 6 years older than Melissa Reeves. Since their characters are the same age Kassie was hardly cast in a role that was 10-15 years younger. She also looks amazing and can pass for younger. Now, I’m not saying that I think they should cast Bree in this role but actors rarely play characters that are exactly the same age as they are. It’s about whether they have the right look and APPEAR to be about the right age. That’s why actors often hide their ages if they can.

KELLY THIEBAUD (ex-Britt, GH)

Kelly is too old. The role calls for a 25 year old.

Also calls for ‘gorgeous.’

Kelly is definitely gorgeous.

I’m not seeing the purpose for this flood of new characters. DAYS has characters from its past that I would love to see return, as opposed to all of these new characters coming in, even if the casting has been great. I just don’t want to see another Madison James, or Serena Mason, or Taylor Raines, where a great actress is cast in a subpar role with no ties to the canvas. Hopefully they have a better plan for “Val” than they did for any of the other brand new roles DAYS has had in the past few years.

As for actresses for the role, what about Kelley Missal, Kim Matula, Kristen Alderson, Stephanie Gatschet or Bonnie Dennison?

hi Jimmy ..
Just want to say..
No longer (politically correct stuff) are we to use the word Actress..
We no longer are to differentiate the male female, all are actors..
He, She = actor..
All, are now just an actor …. go figure lol

Ahh, my dear Su. I will never do that; refer to an actress as an actor. It just feels weird to me. Besides, why not call both genders actresses? Why does it have to be in the masculine form? Soon, we will be referring to ‘she’ as ‘he’, lol. Hmmmmm. Politically correct? Golly, Su, I don’t know about that! Really?
There’s no law that tells me I must masculinize the female form of words. I think, Su, it’s our choice….whatever we want to use. It’s bad enough there’s no differentiation within the animal kingdom….eg: dog; bitch…lion; lioness etc.
‘Nite, susu. Later.

I too don’t understand the influx of new characters. Use the ones we have in good story. It seems like they have been casting a lot of new ones lately.

I’m not impressed with the acting of Lani or the new kids.

Whoever it is, get someone who can act!

Brittany Underwood might be a good fit for the part. I liked her on OLTL as Langston.

Me too Brian, she is a terrific actress. Maybe I will put some make up, high heels and a wig and audition for the role. LOL.

Can you pull stilettos off, Anthony?

I agree

Stephanie Gachet

Gatschet

Good choice! She’s young and beautiful.

True O’Brien…in search of her past comes to Salem to seek answers because of a dream she had and finds herself drawn to Paige’s grave…could she be Paige’s unknown long-lost twin sister Saige?…be sure to tune in tomorrow for the continuing story of Days Of Our Lives on most of these NBC stations…lol

Good idea, although a bit young!

I like Kim Matula, but don’t think she wants to do another soap.

Just say they aged her…lol…she should be slighly older now after they did the children who now look like they went to school with Paige…i already miss younger Ciara and Theo!

Im Calling Abby recast as December is when Kate’s contract ends

Hope she stays…i also hope they arent bringing Bens sister back even as a recast

Wish they would get rid of the character of Abby, Between her and her mother, both are enough to turn someone into a serial killer.

I am hoping she stays too, but I was thinking maybe it was a recast of Stephanie Johnson

Oh I hope Kate Mansi doesn’t leave. But that does sound like her recast if her contract is up next month.

Myself

Seriously: as always, Kelley Missal (OLTL). She is only 22, but I am sure three years won’t make that much of a difference.

I’ve wanted this for eon

OK… I think you posted… she’s in college on the east coast

I haven’t seen any one… with such natural sex appeal

hello

@ CeeCee, Kelley Missal definitely popped into my mind, too. So glad would welcome this beauty, this great talent to DAYS. IF only she could live in Cali for a few years. She’s AMAZING.
Good call.

@Patrick.
Hi, Patrick,
That’s great that Kelley is in College….too bad for us, since she’s the perfect candidate. ‘Dani’ is all grown up. Lol. But, she can work around her schedule. Winter break is coming soon….and, that will go for a few weeks. It can be done; yet, her studies may suffer. Wishful thinking, I guess.

Perfect casting choice…lol

Thank you…lol.

@Shay.
I have been trying to let you know, ma belle, that I have written to you twice in the past few hours. Nothing untoward, Shay, truly. But, my posts are being rejected. So I tried on this site. I find that DOOL and Y&R do not have favorites. The moderators are very fair. So, if this continues, I will not bother posting on GH any more. ‘Nite, carissima.

Where is DAYS getting the money to pay these people?? First all the returning vets, the new teens, Eduardo, Shawn, Belle and the new Philip, Real Andrews just got cast, Lani, now this girl?? GEEZ!!!!

Most of the returning vets have no interest in staying past the 50th anniversary shows. Personally I’m getting tired of seeing the same handful of people day in and day out.

I am too. Let bo go lets move on. Bo came and went its ovet

The new aussie doctor who was supposed to be Daniels protégé but Daniel is leaving. .so whats his mentoring going to be? Handing over his stash of condoms lol

Lmao!

That’s funny. He is leaving? Really, dav? Did I miss the point of his being on the soap? Was it temporary? I missed much of the episode and haven’t caught up. Hmmmmm.

Yeah CeeCee that was announced a while back under the new writers coming on board. I liked him being Maggie’s son..but really. .he just never clicked

Kristen Alderson is a good choice, Brittney Underwood, the former actress who played Kristina on GH , I don’t know her name!

Brittney Underwood would be AWESOME…

Yeah, Christina (sp) is a good choice too, Kate. But, I think she’s too ethnic looking, no?

I just want to comment on the ludicrous shooting of six months ahead Days continues to insist upon. I had hoped that would end with all the new changes taking place.

You might change your tune if and when there is a writers, actors, or some kind of technical strike that lasts for six months.

If that were to happen, DAYS would be safe and the other soaps would flounder, but at least your wish would come true. lol

I think I’d rather take my chances with a writing, actor strike than be held hostage for months on end before the show can reverse course for certain storylines, characters, etc. that just aren’t working out. 😉

I am hoping this is a recast for Stephanie. I would love to see that character come back.

Would love to see Shelly return in the role.

should be me, sounds like a part made for me.

Laura Harrier.

adrienne leonne!
2nd and best colleen carlton abbott of y n r!! sony hows her anywaz for doing her dirty and replacing her with that horrible recast until patty killed her.
i miss her character on y n r, but she could really do sweet and vixen at the same time! she would give teresa a run for her money and i could picture her and jj making trouble together, on the streets and in the sheets in salem!!!

Abigail recast, bummer I Love Kate!

Me too. She’s beautiful and a good actress.

I hope it’s not a recast for Abigail, I really love Kate in the role, she is totally believable. I’ve seen this happen before, another actress assumes the role and it’s just not the same. I hope they don’t recast her – I usually don’t care that much but in her case I would voice an objection.

Steve Kent Reportedly OUT as Sony Pictures Television VP in Charge of DAYS and Y&R

On Friday, reports surfaced that Steve Kent, Senior Executive Vice President of Programming at Sony Pictures Television, is no longer with the company and overseeing the Sony soap operas, Days of our Lives and The Young and the Restless.

According to Soap Opera Digest, a set side source reported that Kent’s last day was last Friday, April 12th, which was one day after what would have been his final appearance in his Sony VP role at the Days of our Lives 15,000th episode on set celebration.

During that ceremony, Kent gave a brief speech giving kudos to DAYS for its incredible milestone. Days is a co-production of Sony Pictures Television and Corday Productions, while Y&R is produced by Bell Dramatic Serial Company in association with Sony Pictures Television.
