DAYS Casting Role Of Confident, Dashing Man In His 30's: Who Would You Suggest For The Part?
Put on your casting director hats, Days of our Lives fans!
The show is currently seeking an actor 30-39 to play the role of “Alex”, who is said to be confident and quite dashing!
The role is set to begin taping this March.
According to Soap Opera Digest, the character description reads: “Alex has spent the last ten years traveling the world and amassing a small fortune. His ambition grew and his success in the marketplace has given him an enough of a cocky confidence to come to Salem with an agenda to challenge his family for control of the business. When it comes to women, Alex can be a bit of a playboy like his dad used to be.”
Now if the role on the casting call is really “Alex”, could he be the son of Justin ( Wally Kurth) and Angelica Deveraux, and thus Sonny’s (Freddie Smith) half -brother? Time will tell!
So, which actor from daytime or primetime TV would you suggest for the role of “Alex”? Let us know your thoughts via the comment section below!

Steve Kent Reportedly OUT as Sony Pictures Television VP in Charge of DAYS and Y&R
On Friday, reports surfaced that Steve Kent, Senior Executive Vice President of Programming at Sony Pictures Television, is no longer with the company and overseeing the Sony soap operas, Days of our Lives and The Young and the Restless.
According to Soap Opera Digest, a set side source reported that Kent’s last day was last Friday, April 12th, which was one day after what would have been his final appearance in his Sony VP role at the Days of our Lives 15,000th episode on set celebration.
During that ceremony, Kent gave a brief speech giving kudos to DAYS for its incredible milestone. Days is a co-production of Sony Pictures Television and Corday Productions, while Y&R is produced by Bell Dramatic Serial Company in association with Sony Pictures Television.
Kent started his soap opera career as a producer for CBS’ defunct Capitol and then as the supervising producer of NBC’s Santa Barbara from1984 to 1993.
At Sony, before his role overseeing the soaps, Kent was Senior Executive Vice President of International Productions for Sony Pictures Television International department.
If reports are true, the question becomes who has taken over his position, and would oversee DAYS and Y&R from the Sony side? Share your thoughts on this developing story via the comment section below.

maybe Andrea has a son…wish they stop[ writing all these vengeful dark people…where is the love…………’Birds sing out a tune…rain clouds hide the moon…i dont care -will i’ll stay-with my loneliness…i dont care what they say i cant watch Days without any love! Here i will watch- for only awhile…please brighten up my Days and make me smile…if it will happen i dont know when…loosing Days will be like the death of an old friend….but please dont go away…i really want you to stay!…oh i’ll cry…dont let my show die…too hard to say goodbye!…… I don’t care what they say Days just needs a little LOVE!!!
Who is Andrea?
Andre Dimera i meant….
I am so disappointed in what this turn, means; for Leann Hunley
she’s the one thrown to the curb… for Rafe and Hopes get out of jail free card
so not fair… or real
OK…i’m 3 weeks behind.. not matter
when I keep up with posts and SOD
Kristian Alfonso and Galen Gering.. as good as they are.. are not REEL
are not what DAYS should focus
Leann Hunley… as a DiMera .. along with
Kate / Andre/ Chad/ Abs / Thomas
BEST of
this is what jump starts Salem
Yeah, Leann Hunely was so poorly used…she needed something better…hate when a good actress is so terribly wasted!
I am fine with new characters coming on the show, but it would be nice to see a few of them come on without having a dark side or a connection to another character and we have to wonder who it is for months. The Valerie Grant storyline is moving at a snail’s pace. Why should be care that she has a son?
The character of Alex should be a character like Daniel or EJ, one that is a true leading man. It seems the show has missed the boat on that for a few years with the exception of Chad.
Yes, true leading man like I said. EJ filled an important role and that role has been vacant for many years. I know a lot of people like Chad, but I don’t like the actor playing him. Yes, Billy can act, but I don’t find him attractive and I do think he’s missing something. So Alex needs to be cast very carefully.
We don’t care that Valerie has a son. There should be more intrigue about it and her trying to cover things up if we’re to be interested and more interaction with Julie who bugs her about seeing a picture. Or what about Julie going on FB and seeing a picture-something. I can only hope that once it is revealed that Valerie had David’s child that Julie will be on more. Julie is funny (even when she isn’t trying to be) and we need more of that. Loved her snarky scenes at Thanksgiving.
And Days needs to dial down Deimos. More Victor. Less Deimos. We see him all the time. And I don’t know why Deimos and Brady don’t just tell Nicole their suspicions. Then she can call the clinic to see if Chloe had another implant and/or contract Chloe.
MARCO DAPPER!!…(EX-CARMINE, y n r)…
boy is a hell of a looker, easy on the eyes, charming, dastardly, sexy
y n r cut him short and sony kinda owes him so hooking him up with a days gig would be nice. his story on y n r with lauren had so much potential until tptb fell short and made him a lunatic
if he is justins son… the resemblance and dimples are a bonus!
snatch him up days!!
Marco Dapper…AW, HELL TO THE YEAH!!!!!
Please, no, Marco should be nowhere near daytime ever again!
what do you have against marco s acting scott?…
his job was to portray a ladies man and ultimatley seduce lauren…
i think he delivered and then some!!
I was not a fan of his acting, at all. And don’t want him anywhere near daytime again.
no matter what the naysay
Marco Dapper made Lauren LIVE
Marco Dapper brought the show ALIVE
Marco Dapper ROCKS, and was no slouch in the acting arena.. he made his mark
YIKE
he’s so YUM
Patrick…to me, Marco Dapper is Y-U-M PERIOD!!!!! TPTB at Y&R were TOTAL IDIOTS for cutting Marco/Carmine loose!!!!! MARCO DAPPER ROCKS!!!!!
Have a good one, Patrick.
I didn’t mind Marco on Y&R. Don’t know if he would fit this role, but I’d be happy to audition him.
Gary Busey!
Mike Pence
Or Donald Trump Jr.
Scott Baio
Uh, Harry…I hope you’re only joking……….
DAYS should be joking. The extras are more interesting in the background pretending not to watch the actors at work fighting through bad sl’s and dialogue. Could you imagine having to pretend to not see Abigail behind a plant squeezing a stuffed toy in that where in the world is Carmen San Diego hat? Stop casting more characters until the ones you have keep us glued to the set. .right now I feel like I’m trying to stay put on an heavily oiled leather SOFA! !
There is only one obvious choice: Joan Collins.
A baseball cap, sunglasses, and some dimly lit sets and no one would realize that the part of 30-39 year old male character was being played by an actress over 80.
Clearly, this role is begging for Collins.
AND he could take a trip to Cougar Town for a romance with Carolyn Brady.
Dame Joan could rock it
It’s Caroline Brady.
I’m cracking up! Yes, totally!
We do need someone who can take over the role EJ played on the show (I mean role as in terms of leading man). Maybe this character can do that. At the mo, don’t have any actors in mind, but since I’m not an agent or casting director, that’s okay.
Tom Pelphrey or Brandon Barash. Please!
I would definitely go for Brandon Barash.. he’d mix
Brandon Barash, yes! Or Brandon Beemer, since Days doesn’t seem to think it needs Shawn, lol.
LOL Day’s doesn’t think they need writers.
Ron Raines LOL
Josh Kelly , please (34)
ex-Cutter, OLTL
Like I am suppose to believe that Chad, Sonny and Dario are the new Mob…. That meeting on Thursday was funny and soo unbelievable.. lol.. Come on Days…. really?
A lot of stuff is unbelievable. How ridick is JJ being promoted to a detective and then going to interrogate Eduardo? AND he’s telling everyone and his brother about the case, but sshhhh, it’s a secret. He ought to be fired.
Agree. Gobsmacked by the utter miscalculation and POINTLESSNESS of the scene.
But then again I feel the same way about all of the teen ‘storylines’ as well. Ugh.
The teens are awful. And now they’re all living together! Why don’t they stay in a dorm? Or at Hope’s house since she’s in prison (or was when they made the plans to cohabitate).
Nail on the head Tim S. Since when did the Hernandez family become a “family”? All of a sudden they’re running the docks and Eduardo is Salem’s Sonny Corinthos!!! Not only that they’re treating Orwell as just some other piece of techno instead of the illegal thing it is. Countries terrorists and all types of bad characters and companies would be crawling all over that town right now as well as the government here. Ill conceived stories make for declining ratings because of frustrated viewers. How could you NOT have learned a lesson with elephant diamonds. Now you have purse microchips!!! The less said the better about that pointless Prague fiasco. That blink and miss it out the blue prison escape…still SMH….Eric acting all creepy to aunt hope….like he’s a creepy kidnapper and not her nephew. The truth comes out about holly but Chloe…for real though…telling Nicole and watching her kick Deimos to the curb after all her baby heartbreak would have been a whole lot more exciting!!! Does anyone at Days remember why soaps became so popular in the first place??
Here’s a thought lock all of the writers and tptb in a room with one month of British soaps to get an idea why millions still watch them. Just this week on Emmerdale they visited the character of Ashley…former pastor who’s suffering Alzheimer’s and dementia. His young daughter doesn’t want him in care but Laurel his wife knows better. Gabby the daughter had to mind him in one episode and he kept telling everyone around him he had to go. They kept keeping him from leaving but once he was left with gabby he went…he didn’t have to go out the door…he meant to the bathroom that he forgot where it was in his own house…so her peed on his self…I was in tears!!!
He not her
why not peter porte who played ricky williams on young and the restless ?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I don’t know if he is to old but how about that gorgeous Justin Hartley? I know he is already on This is Us which i watch every week. They are both on the same network. He is so nice to look at and watch, what a handsome man. A great actor, and I wouldn’t mind trying him on for size lol ,
Michael Roark would be perfect. If not Jason Gerhardt.
Michael wanted to do primetime or something else otherwise he’d still be at Y&R. I also think he’s too old.
Didn’t the show just get rid of John-Paul Lavoisier who would fit the bill? If TPTB couldn’t figure out how to make him work on the canvas, why do they think lightning will strike with someone new?
JP would not work. He didn’t work at Philip, wouldn’t work in this role. It’s a shame, but the way it is. Writing didn’t help the character either.
Someone that actually act, unlike the most recent teen scene/young trendsetter crowd.
Agree. To be fair, they have nothing to work with. Daddy is dating! I wanna be a rock star! My life is sad!
Maybe and a big maybe, maybe if they got some great actors in the role, the writing would improve. Long shot I know. The only one of the teens I don’t mind too much is Theo. I don’t know why they recast Jade. Should have just let her fade away.
Days used to do teens well, but I think they had better actors to work with (which is very important).
Uh…honestly? They NEED another actor in his 30’s? What they need are some better scripts, the writing has been AWFUL –
for a while there, with Sonny and Will having problems (and Paul thrown into the mix) the show was really reflective of today’s issues and very innovative. Now, it’s back to the same old “so and so is pregnant but who is the baby’s father” bit which has been done since 1921 – also, how many more times is Hope going to be dying in a bed or in a prison hospital or in an explosion?
