Days of our Lives anniversary week is being capped-off with news from Nielsen Media Research, and in a press release from NBC, touting the 50-year-old drama’s current success!

For the week of November 2- 6, DAYS delivered its most-watched week in 20 months averaging 2,721,000 million viewers for the ratings week.   That performance is only bested by the week of February 17-21, 2014 where the show averaged 2.836,ooo viewers.

In addition, week to week, DAYS grew +10% in women 18-49 (0.87 vs. 0.79 for the week of Oct. 26-30) and +11% in women 18-34 (0.52 vs. 0.47).  Versus the same week last year, DAYS was up +15% in total viewers (2.721 million vs. 2.373 million for the week of Nov. 3-7, 2014), up +49% in women 18-34 (0.52 vs. 0.35), up +6% in women 18-49 (0.87 vs. 0.82) and up +12% in women 25-54 (1.18 vs. 1.05).

In results for the 2015-16 season thus far, DAYS ranks #5 among network daytime series in both the women 18-49 and women 18-34 demos.

With Aiden (Daniel Cosgrove) and Hope’s (Kristian Alfonso) wedding, as Bo (Peter Reckell) attempts to get back to Salem,  the Bicentennial celebration, and Abigail  (Kate Mansi) learning Ben (Rob Scott Wilson) is the necktie serial killer, the series was firing on all cylinders.  We anticipat next week’s ratings for this week’s airshows, where Bo and Hope see each other again for the first time in 3 years or more, will also garner some very high numbers!

So, what do you think about DAYS rating performance?  Is it the best daytime drama on television right now?  Did DAYS knock it out of the park for their 50th anniversary?  Are you surprised at the numbers?  Share your thoughts below!

“…DAYS ranks #5 among network daytime series ”

I have to believe, this is – very – good news

please give us a renewal notice already

Right own

I expect a two-year renewal. I’ll take five, though! 🙂

Yeeeees!!!!!!

HI, Mary.
Sounds reasonable and reprehensible, at the same time. I am as suspicious as you are, but not comparable to what was done to Will. From what I gathered, Peter does not want to be part of the show. There were probably many negotiations going on behind the scenes. But, I believe, Guy was just thrown under the bus without much notice. As far as I’m concerned, Guy/Will was stabbed in the back, as it were. I read all these comments about ‘haters hating on Will’ ( which is one of the worst grammatically incorrect expressions in existence). No one wanted Will gone…NO ONE, albeit some of us wanted a recast. The return of Bo has always been ‘iffy’; but, Will? I loved the character. I don’t know if I would compare the two situations…apples and oranges. Just my opinion.

too bad daniel cosgrove was sacrificed for peter reckalls temporary return,,, imo daniel cosgrove s mezmorizing portrayal as aiden s tortured last days were one of the main reasons viewers kept tuning in!… at the very least aiden should ve ran off and not been killed off. hope and aiden were the next ‘ it’ couple!!!

instead of tptb turning aiden into a maniac why couldn’t they write hope being torn between bo & aiden – then kick bo to the curb and then bo leaves salem since peter didn’t want to stay on the show……………..

That would have been nice. Instead, the writers are going to give fans what they want in the short term. Bo and Hope back together for a few weeks then the rug will be pulled out. All will find out that Bo is dying as a result of what happened to him during his 3 year captivity. He cannot be saved. Since Peter is leaving the show Bo’s death will happen fairly quickly. But the writers will make sure that Hope, Kayla, Steve, Victor, Caroline, Shawn, Ciara, Jennifer, Maggie, John, Marlena, Roman, Brady etc each get to say goodbye to Bo. Then a funeral will be held over several episodes and Hope will truly be a widow. I know it’s not a nice scenario but given what the writers did to Will I am deeply suspicious.

@Damien; too bad daniel cosgrove was sacrificed for Peter Reckell
@elm51; why couldn’t they write hope being torn between bo & aide
@Mary; Hope will truly be a widow

posts are full of yearn for love and romance… i’m certainly with…

oy! Hope… had it in spades! twice ! w/ Bo and Aiden! and both will be gone

I am so with… that to see Hope torn between both… would have been tantamount to serial recipe

knowing that Hope tragedy of lost husbands…. looms… is heart ache!

if only DAYS production would have written these ideals

argh! this is going to be Kristian Alfonso year… nevertheless!

it’s pretty clear… that the writers have Rafe waiting in the wings !

??? after Bo … after Aiden ???

I will laud Galen Gerring presence and how his character does drive and carry

one of my lady loves ( fancy face) is on a harrowing road

I agree their chemistry was great

I agree I really liked hope and aiden together

The only surprise is that the ratings weren’t higher. I continue to hear from long-time viewers that they can’t wait to watch the show each night. I do not think the ratings are completely accurate. With more than 5,000 fans gathering in Pigeon Forge two weeks ago for the book signing, it seems a lot of fans are not be counted.

The highlights from the shows have been endless. Will’s murder, the return of Sami and Sonny, the dark side of the murders, Aiden’s descent into madness, the emergence of Abby and Chad as a supercouple, Bryan Datillo’s tour-de-force, are just a few of the highlights. In the end, the show realizing the veteran actors is what the viewers have wanted for years Patch, Kayla, Bo, Hope).

I have not watched a soap in years that has been this capivating. Thank you Ken Corday and Greg Meng for making my favorite show the most exciting it has been in years.

Now, let’s see more Theresa and Brady.

Problem is many people Fast Forward through commercials on their DVR then the ratings do not count. Also many fans do not have a DVR & will watch on YouTube when they come home which also doesn’t help ratings. I agree ratings are much higher then the ratings sport.

Theresa and Brady? I mean, hasn’t there been enough of the pairing of those two? I just think it gets a little monotonous with the SAME deal of Theresa being manipulative and Brady being taken in over and over. Also, I am bored to death by Nicole and Daniel.
I DO like the storyline of Ben and Abigal, due largely to the incredible dramatic performance given by Kate Mansi as Abby. I also enjoy the tension between Chad and Ben. I realize of course that the show has other characters, but it’s time to explore other avenues than the same old same old jazz between Brady and Theresa. There are new characters that could be interwoven into the storylines.

I fast forward theresa and Brady’s scenes I can see him falling off the wagon again get a clue

LUV IT! Been a 50 year view and miss seeing all the oldies but goodies. Bringing BO back is the BEST THING EVERRR !! Luv this Chad, superior acting and I am a grandma!! Ha~

OH and having the writers get all “Shonda-rymes” with Aiden, was hard to take. But having his son, Chase, and Ciara grow up literally over night? Come on. Usually they send kids away to school THEN bring them back as teens.

Yes, I love Chad–and Abbi. Great story fraught with storm and drung.

Days is real good right now but i hope they tone down the violence soon…glad ratings improved…Andre is a little too cartoonish…seriously, give Patch a makeover…couldnt we have some Julie and Gabi scenes about Nick Fallon…judgement is still out on the teens…how about a triangle involving Ciara-i know she is a teen-with Rafe and Hope kind of like the 70s triangle involving Julie and her mother Addie with Doug!…GH could take lessons from Days…use your vets…tie newbies to the vets…interesting character driven stories that involves the entire cast…i miss Rory and Bev…where is Ann and Maxine…Bo is going to die and Hope marries him in the hospital-my prediction!

Bev needs to return, pronto!

even if to mix it up and played bad girl… and “lure” JJ

she’s a HOTTIE…. reminded me of a young Cybill Shepperd… ala, the “Last Picture Show”

plus Bev could hook up with the new Australian actor

WE MISS THEM ! Bev… Anne… Maxine anytime now folks… the most interesting character meld with vets….

and Rory too!

I like Maxine too.

The teens are awful. They cannot act. I was watching Y&R last night and thought the actress who plays Faith is a great actress. Why can’t the Days’ teens act? They are wooden. I hope they will improve, but it’s painful watching them while they try to act their way through scenes.

i hope to see some improvement with the teens…i

I thought the actress playing Ciara was good yesterday–also the young man playing Aiden’s son. They’ve new on the set; I’m sure they will “jell” with the seasoned cast. I’m giving them the chance.

Yeees! Mo, I was floored when I saw Faith act like a little adult. I couldn’t believe the ready tears over losing her little brother. This little girl is going places. Her acting was flawless.

I’d like to see Ann back too.

No a thousand times no!!!

Haha Ann and her many wrapped dresses

Most definitely it is the best soap airing–and it is giving the fans what they want–familiar and beloved characters, suspense, romance, and high production values with music, lighting, etc. And it is telling stories that the viewer can’t wait to see. It is not insulting nor ignoring the longtime, loyal viewers. And, at its core, it is about family.

and, if you’ve noticed, it’s getting back to its Catholic roots, with Caroline & Bo both saying novenas, and Sami consulting the priest, with the message from EJ in the Bible .. TomSell didn’t even have the traditional Christmas Eve service in the church last year. Nor did they show everybody at Thanksgiving dinner. Remember? Last year’s Thanksgiving episode was Kate & Clyde in bed! My mom always looked forward to seeing the holiday episodes with “the family”. LOL, so glad to see DAYS is back on track! (oh, and I love the return of romance most of all! Chad & Abby are the new super couple, they are hitting all the tropes. Just like Jack rescued Jennifer time and time again, Chad will rescue Abby. I’m swooning, lol)

Along these lines, I fully expect that this year’s Christmas episode will include Will’s Christmas Tree ornament “accidentally” (on purpose) being smashed into a million pieces. I’m betting that a Horton dressed as Santa will step on and crush the ornament, to figuratively add another nail to Will’s coffin. However, if the writers really want to appease the vengeful fans, then a lightning bolt from the heavens will reach down to shatter the ornament, as a sign of the Almighty’s complete disapproval of everything about Will. Given the show’s recent track record, it’s most likely outcome will be that Will’s ornament will be disposed of via the most humiliating and offensive method the writers can conceive.

Hey ChandlerFan, that’s very funny, and I know you are hurting at the loss of Will. So sorry. I loved Will too and I’m hoping that somehow the DiMeras will be able to “resurrect” him, as they have so many others, LOL. As for religion vs. gay, does it have to be one or the other? Why can’t DAYS have both? They usually show everybody in the church at Christmas Eve (everybody at the same church, LOL). Will & Sonny were there two years ago. Last year, no, they did not show it. Nor did they show any families having Thanksgiving dinner. It was like TomSell were trying to remove the religious aspect from the show.

It’s nice to see the gains, but the ratings should be way higher!

Potential viewers are missing out on alot of excitement. Please spread the word that these DAYS are to die for!!!!!

Congrats Days! Great news during their anniversary week. Just wait til next week’s ratings since this Monday was the anniversary show.

Hopefully Ken Corday can get that two year renewal for Days that he’s going for.

Goes to show;
people like vets returning and suspenseful killings/serial killer on the loose..
Couples are ho hum and not a people graber
but- bringing vets back and dark murders are a winning ticket.

It worked for RC his first 2 years, and it’s working well for Days!
(soap couples, do not entice viewers to tune in..)
Darke intense Drama, and a damned good plot to get involved in is what gets people clicking in.
Favorite character’s, a favorite family, a loved vet, entangled in murder/serial killer putting people on the edge, who is next is what sells tickets..

character evolve and merit standing ovation… and cumulative cast meld and all the more richer for

Kassie DePaiva, ex-Eve
Daniel Cosgrove, ex-Aiden
James Read, ex-Clyde
Robert Scott Wilson, ex-Ben

Billy Flynn, Chad ! bar none… the best thing going … I say this with all due respect to the cast as a whole… but with the firings of some raw talent.. new energy… newbies let

it’s now up to the veteran pull… to do just that… “reign” IN…
I love them to bits… Kayla, Hope, Bo, and Patch… let’s go! with all the supporting cast afire… frontburner smolder

A Martinez, Eduardo Hernandez… is the most riveting newcomer…

already posted my miss, above : Ann, Maxine, and Bev

my favorite pastime… is a rich beloved feast

wishlisting : Kimberly and Shane Donovan!

Once the ratings stunts are done is when we will see if this show keeps it’s added viewers. Let’s face it, once the Bo/Hope and Patch/Kayla hype finally dies down I am sure the ratings will go back down for DAYS. The necktie killer story is coming to an end. Caroline’s ridiculous illness story line is over (thank you Christmas gods). Aiden is gone. Eve is going soon. And what do we have left but some really bad teen actors. The new Ciara has about as much talent as my dog’s fleas. She is awful and the new Chase character is pretty lame as well. Didn’t get to see the new Theo enough to make a decision. Joey is okay but what can you do with one actor? We will have a new Sean Douglas soon so getting attached to this actor is ridiculous. Doug and Julie are both rather annoying. Julie is so tired and meddlesome. And let’s face it the actor who plays Doug is in his 90’s in real life. How much time does he have left? Once a show uses all it’s tricks all at once what else does it have. Dr Dan is soon to be no more. They are doing well now due to the return of various old timers but let’s face it, the show has got to be able to maintain that stride and none of the new stories are showing too much promise. I can’t wait till Patch goes back on assignment with the ISA hopefully to get a new eye cause that Patch is like a porn prop.

Don’t hold back Mateo tell us what you REALLY think – LoL.
I agree though that Caroline and her visions while wearing the red living room drapes was a tad ridiculous.
Nicole and Daniel (to me) are a snooze.
Doug and Julie need to go to a Retirement community and send a postcard to Salem once in a while.
The show will have to concentrate on some new characters for the new year in order to attract some new viewers. All this jazz about “Patch” being back and Bo being back will soon die down. Of course, it hurts me very much that Will was killed off, Sonny left for Paris, Derrick evidently left town to get a job at Del Taco or whatever, and Paul is left adrift telling a raspy voiced John he is glad to be his son. So much for the town’s gay characters.
Yes I do agree that the new Chase and Ciara are pretty lame.
I’m sure the show will take on a new direction for the new year.

I have been trying to watch every episode, but I still wish it was available on cable NBC On Demand. Watching the missed episodes on NBC.com does not do well with the speed that I have.
This week I have been interested in Bo Brady and A. Martinez as “Eduardo Hernandez”.

DAYS is now available through Roku…It’s a streaming device.

Yes that’s how I watch it now, through the NBC Ap through my RoKu which is pretty cool – a word of advice though there are some audio technical difficulties and I notice they are loading the ap with more and more commercials.

FYI: Days is on the POP channel at 8:00 Mon – Fri

STARTING WATCHING AND REALLY ENJOYING…GAVE UP ON THE BORING BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL…..SAME OLD EVERY DAY!!!!!

You are so right about the show being on fire. Daniel Cosgrove was superb as Aiden. I am going to miss him so much. I am very impressed by Rob Scott Wilson. His unraveling Ben is riveting. (Again, makes me so sorry the online All My Children didn’t last longer. I can only imagine what he would have done with Pete if given a chance.) Kate Mansi is wonderful as the terrified Abigail. I can’t wait to see how Chad is going to come to her rescue. And now, Sami has be kidnapped. This doesn’t look good. I am enjoying the show.

Keep going up!

So Sorry To Hear Of His Passing Prayers To His Family And His One Life To Live Family Wish You Were Back On TV Miss You all

You posted in the wrong thread.

So Sorry To Here Of MichaeL Passing He Will Be Missed By One Pre To Live Fans May He RIP wish You Were Back On TV Miss You All

I feel that Bo and Steve should remain on Days! This will keep the views watching! Love this show! Been watching since 1966!

Not only am I enjoying Days, my 17 year old is hooked…on Bo Brady and Hope and Steve and Kayla all these years later. Its magic.

oh yes, my 13-yr-old gets a big kick out of Bo and Steve! LOL

I knew DAYS could do it. They just needed the right team to write and provide vision. Now let’s focus on maintaining or bettering these numbers so they get another pick up through 2017!!!!!!!!

Also, if DAYS can fir fire out a way to keep Alison Sweeney, you can guarantee the numbers will go up. EJ anyone???? 🙂

All it took was one horrible murder after another. Killing off Will Horton was a long term mistake many new fans are still upset from it. Some may have not liked the Gay story line, but Will and Sonny were a 21st century couple. How are they going to keep up ratings when the 1980 favorites are gone and the deaths stop. The teens are boring to watch. Where will the shows ratings be in a few months?

I am not a fan of sami can’t act to me and the actor playing bo cant act be glad when both actors leave

Days Of Our Lives

Stephen Schnetzer Talks On His Return to Days of our Lives and Working with Susan Seaforth Hayes In Emotional Episodes

Who says you can’t go home again? In the case of Another World favorite, Stephen Schnetzer (ex-Cass Winthrop), he has proven that it is true, and you can go back to your soap roots and where it all started for you.

Last week on April 11th, Schnetzer, along with several other key returns were on set at Days of our Lives taping all-new episodes of the Peacock streaming soap opera, centering on the funeral of Doug Williams (the late Bill Hayes), and as part of the iconic soap opera’s 15,000th episode.

Stephen is reprising his first daytime role as Steve Olson, the brother of Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes). The last time Schnetzer appeared on a DAYS set was during his one and only run on the show from 1978 to 1980. Clearly, viewers will be in for some very emotional scenes when Steve returns to Salem to be there for his sister, Julie in her time of need. In real-life, Susan has been going through her own grief, having just lost Bill back on January 12th at the age of 98.

Photo: NBC

Michael Fairman TV caught up with Stephen during the 15K episode celebration ceremony, and during a break from taping the gut-wrenching funeral scenes, to get his thoughts on being part of these highly-anticipated moments that will air later this year in December. Here’s what he shared with us below.

What has this been like for you to work with Susan Seaforth Hayes after all of these years?

STEPHEN: She’s a dream and she’s so bright. We ran lines yesterday and we ended up just visiting for about 45 minutes and just catching up and telling tales about each other’s career. She even dropped off the autobiography that she and Bill did. And being back here at DAYS, every time I turn a corner, there’s another familiar face. When I was on the show 40 more years ago, a bunch of the guys, played softball on a team together. This is really a trip down memory lane as I knew it would be.

Photo: JPI

Taping Doug’s funeral must be a hard day for Susan. Are you checking in with her to help hold her up through this?

STEPHEN: I am and I’m checking in with Amy Shaughnessy (Susan’s assistant), and she’s holding her up more than anybody. We’re there for each other.

There will obviously be some major hankie-inducing moments when Steve comes back to Salem to console his sister.

STEPHEN: Oh, wait till you see it in December. It’s going to be great.

Were you surprised you got this call to come back to the show decades later?

STEPHEN: It was out of the blue! I was completely surprised. They should have called me decades ago! That’s what surprised me. When Another World went down, I thought I’d land somewhere else and it never happened. That was more of a surprise.

Photo: JPI

Cass is such an identifiable character for you. As well, you and Linda Dano (ex-Felicia Gallant) are so synonymous together as best friends Cass and Felicia from Another World. When fans heard you were reprising your role as Steve Olson on DAYS, they are now hoping there will be more of you on the show to come.

STEPHEN: Steven Olson is a real “Cassian “character. I cut my teeth on Steve Olson and that’s how Cass was introduced. He was kind of a roguish charmer. And then when the character stuck for Another World, they rehabilitated me, and turned me into one of the shows heroes. And that’s what would’ve happened if I stayed as Steve Olson probably. So, Steve is the ‘pre-Cass’, Cass.

As the story goes, you originally decided to leave Days of our Lives?

STEPHEN: I was never on contract. I was doing a day and a half a week and I got a Broadway play directed by Franco Zeffirelli starring Joan Plowright and Frank Finlay. I was able to it as I didn’t have to break a contract or anything. I cut loose and went back to New York for that.

How well did you get to know Bill Hayes during your first time around on DAYS?

STEPHEN: My first episode was with Bill and Susan, as her long lost brother coming into Salem. They were so good to me. They were so kind. I had been doing eight years of classical repertory theater, never been in front of a camera. I tell everybody, it took me longer than any other actor I’ve ever seen to get comfortable in front of a camera. And they were very supportive at that time in my career. Coming back to honor Bill now in 2024, and to be see Susan, I am just so happy to be here.

Looking forward to seeing the scenes between Stephen and Susan Seaforth Hayes come December and Doug’s funeral and surrounding episodes? Do you hope that DAYS might bring the character of Steve Olson back for a longer stay? Comment below.
