DAYS OF OUR LIVES: Kassie DePaiva and Casey Moss Bring The Tears As Eve and JJ Learn Paige is Murdered! True O'Brien Shares Goodbye To Fans!

On Wednesday’s episode of Days of our Lives, Paige was found murdered, and it was the end of the line for her portrayer True O’Brien.  Paige is the second murder victim in the latest serial killer storyline on the NBC soap opera, the first being Serena Mason (Melissa Archer).

O’Brien took to her Twitteraccount this week and shared a heartfelt message to her fans as she ended her on-screen run, which actually ended for her some six months ago since DAYS tapes so far in advance. True had related: “Thanks everyone for all the love! On the bright side, some AMAZING and heart wrenching work is coming from @1CaseyMoss and @KassieDePaiva”

And it was Kassie DePaiva, who at the end of Wednesday’s episode had the moment of the day when Eve insisted on seeing her daughter’s lifeless body in the hospital morgue.  Eve is now a grief-stricken mother having no idea what to do next now that her daughter has been taken from her.   Later, she comes to see Justin (Wally Kurth) in the D.A. office and falls apart in his arms.   Earlier, in the episode a shell-shocked JJ (Casey Moss) had found Paige dead in the shower in her dorm room.

The drama should continue in the days ahead which will also provide plenty of angst, tears, and drama for Moss and DePaiva as they grapple with the ramifications, and their endless guilt over this young woman’s death.

So, what did you think of Kassie and Casey’s performance?   Will you miss True?  Looking forward to seeing what happens with JJ and Eve?  And, who do you think is the Necktie serial killer?  If all signs are making it looks like the guilty party is Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn), who would then be the next victim?  Share your thoughts below!

As powerful as both performances were, Casey Moss delivered a more believable performance for me than Kassie did in the final result.

In my opinion both Kassie and Casey delivered emmy worthy performances.

That’s very hard for Eve she loved Paige the highlight of her life but JJ he didn’t do anything to help he should’ve called to tell Eve but he didn’t so it was his own fault I hope he could be the next one to be killed off he shouldn’t be too attached to Paige and I want JJ to go and Jennifer and Abby

I thought JJ did a very poor job of showing his grief. I was surprised that he wasn’t as upset as I thought he should be. Very disappointing…as for Eve, I thought she did an excellent job.

Well Jill, please keep in mind, everyone shows grief not only at different times, but also in different ways. I don’t see JJ as the type of personality to breakdown into hysterical tears; I picture him to be more of the swallow that hurt and turn it into something else type of personality.

Eve killed paige

Definitely will miss True, she is a great talent, she really shinned in the last few months. I need to catch up on a few episodes to respond properly to the episodes revolving around Paige’s death. With that said, hoping Kassie submits herself for Lead or Supporting Actress next year!

Wow, I think you must be watching a different show than me because my opinion of True is the total opposite! LOL The poor girl couldn’t show emotion, rarely changed expressions, and basically walked through all her scenes. I kept hoping she’d get better, and I think there was one time she did show emotion, but I’m relieved she’s gone.

This killer story, if it gets rid of the totally useless characters, is a god-send! So far, so good!

I agree with SZima. The Paige character was lifeless when the character was alive.

I thought Paige would turn out to have a long lost twin Eve gave away at birth…Paige found out and has had secret off camera contact with the twin named Saige…Saige and Paige switched places…Paige left town and Saige pretending to be Paige was the one actually murdered…Anyway, you’d think with his ‘grandaughter’ murdered, Shane would come to town and help with the investigation???

Totally on board for all/any of that to pan out. True O’Brien showed Paige to be much more than the ‘way to sweet to be interesting’ cersion we originally met. Paige was finally starting to be interesting!

Yes, she was, Tom84. However, Paige always did have a sense of herself….of who she was…..very mature for her age. It is unfortunate to have things turn out the way they did. It is always the case when the writers attach complicated love stories to a character’s life. I would have loved to have seen the relationship between mother and daughter develop more extensively on the show.
Eve did a bad, bad thing. She is now paying the consequences of her actions. When flirting with fire, there is always the chance of getting burned.
I am so in tune with Eve right now…..her heart is no more. She is to be pitied and embraced, sorrow and all. A good ploy for the viewer to forgive what she did. Feeling sorry for her is one thing, but not blaming her for putting this in motion, is another.
I would like for Kassie to remain…I love and appreciate the actress. Perhaps, it took this tragedy to set her Eve on the right past….but, the cost is too much for me. The sacrifice too colossal. I get a pang in my gut each and every time a child is killed off.

as posts have “all” ready stated: the return of Frankie (Billy Warlock) WOULD create more mystery mayhem and feud between Eve and Jennifer…

I’m distraught for Eve’ : what if she had a child with Frankie that no one knows about…. and this would be the catalyst for one upping Jennifer… and these two just move ON. or at least have a mature feud .

I want for Eve to have her own child. NO… this isn’t right…

JIMHHHHHUHHHHHH

Paige Saige and a triplet Parsley..GOOD GRIEF MAN

And raised by Mrs. Dash…lol

I read that was casting the role of Summer. Maybe True got the job and will return as a different character altogether! Then the new character could be JJ’s girlfriend! Can’t you see the look on JJ’s face the first time he lays eyes on Paige’s look-a-like?

That would be great…

Just read your post, Jimh. What an imagination!!! May I have dome of your brain cells?
It makes more than perfect sense to me…Paige and Saige…twins….ok writers, let’s go!!

serial killers targeting young women is not entertainment. reminds me of the music box killer in OLTL–cheap misognistic thrills. right up there with killing children during ratings sweeps.
doesn’t mean that death and grief don’t have a place in soaps. they could actually have a plot about low income families and show how at risk kids are when they are poor. or have a rich character get caught up in drugs and get killed getting their fix (or explore the rise in heroin use across all classes)
But where people got the idea that serial killers focused on young women is a legitimate plot twist should be sent to rewrite hell

Some male characters will be killed off too…maybe Will and Bo???

Then you should check out Hollyoaks’ Glove Hand Killer storyline. Its victims have so far been male.

And let’s not have the killer end up being gay (I mean really how many of those are there–they are typically lumpy white heterosexual males). How about a fundementalist Christian who wants to kill all male adulterers? That would be an easy way of wiping out any male chaff on any show as there would be no one who would be immune!

I haven’t even seen the eps yet… and I’m crying…powerful wave of emotions wont stop

What’s my Eve’s hold ?

does she have a lifeline… for her daughter Life was bigger than her own

will we see Eve fragile, taken apart, shell shock…

will the humane lost part of her surface

doggone it…

tip my hat to @Ray

it looks like , we will be getting two of the Donovan woman (Eve and Theresa) moving the audience forward.

Eve w/ Eduardo… possibly Justin… and I can hope… w/Rafe.
Theresa with help from Maggie… for ownership of Basic Black…

I will continue to laud two of the most versatile women in Serial… Kassie DePaiva and Jenn Lilly…. who continually captivate and generate story… whether you like them or not… they reel worthy script

I love these two women… I hope Shane and Kimberly come home for Eve and Paige.

Yes, Patrick. Eve is falling apart as we speak. But, she’s a DONOVAN…..made of strong stuff. Picking herself up is the only way she can fortify herself for Paige’s sake. This is why she should immerse herself, neck deep, into finding the fiend that killed her precious baby. I hope the writers go that way. But, of course, Rafe has to be the hero. He’s back on the force….so, it stands to reason he has to be the super hero, yes? What say you?

Very sad that they killed off Paige. Kassie did give great performance.

She really did. But to me, it seems like Eve is still in shock – I have a feeling that in terms of Kassie’s fantastic performance, the best is yet to come!

“Oh” without doubt… Paige was her life

Kassie DePaiva’ best is here

The only part I didn’t like was a line Eve said when Justin took her home. Eve said she couldn’t believe Paige would not be sitting on the couch waiting for her. If Paige would not have been murdered, she wouldn’t have been waiting for Eve at the apartment. Paige would hardly set foot in there unless she had because she never got over what Eve did with JJ! The writers goofed on that line! Paige and Eve never “made up”. That is what the writers should have focused on. It would have added more opportunity for Kassie DePavia to snag an Emmy nod. Maybe it will come later (the dialogue or in a monologue).

Kassie really proved herself to her critics. No one can play a grief stricken mother as well as she can. I also love her paired up with Wally Kurth.

First off I have known for a longtime that Paige was going to die both actors did a fine Job on screen and Kassie was not Eve when she paid tribute to True O’Brien playing her daughter on Days. My mother told about Paige she got it from her Grandson Freddie Smith..none other than Sonny K.

So is true that Bo will be killed off? If not, how are the writers going to deal with the fact that Peter Reckell apparently only agreed to come back for three months because he didn’t like the way Bo was written off last time.

Kassie DePavia is leaving Days? Hope not!

This topic is so achingly real, I find it very hard to discuss it.
Kassie is so believable….she must be drawing this reality from personal experience…..straight from her heart….her gut. It is that painfully visceral.

She gave an emmy winning performance and won me over…i now like her as Eve!!!

Everyone will say this, but just when Paige got interesting, she died. This is one example why such an accelerated taping schedule can backfire. But it will allow Kassie to do what she does best…rage filled grief. And if it gets her out of the teeny bopper storyline, even better! She needs to be in league with the heavy hitters in Salem! The show is firing on all cylinders now, and is living up to the hype! I cant wait to watch it each day!! Casey Moss will impress as always, as the stakes are high now for all the characters.

dang! wow!

marquee, feature, and gavel….

LOL yes…

“…She needs to be in league with the heavy hitters in Salem! The show is firing on all cylinders now, and is living up to the hype! I cant wait to watch it each day! ”

I truly am at a loss for words.. on how good DAYS of OUR Lives has turned
each day I’m stupefied… at what’s reeling

LOL… gamut of tears, joyful, jubilation, that it’s in Salem!

this is one of the fastest turn around ! and take note ! this is not just good stuff… it’s the best !

I watch this show… each “DAYS” … building… the momentum… is taking off…
I’m just soaking in all production that’s going on

and cant believe it… so… i’m a little shell shocked with

It was really well done. I miss Paige now. I thought it was stupid for the writers to have Eve kiss Justin on today’s episode, on the same day she discovered Paige was dead.

The kiss made absolute sense. When Eve is desperate, she acts out sexually. That’s how she got JJ into her bed in the first place. She’d just learned that she could not have the throat surgery and saw that as the end of her singing career. Now, she’s lost her daughter and feels totally alone in the world. She probably doesn’t know any other way to try to cope. Eve is a deep disturbed character.

Kassie DePaiva is fantastic in this role.

Yeah I get what you are saying, my response when she kissed Justin was that it was that it was a cheap shock for the audience. But today’s 9/11 episode was awesome. Eve got to show remorse and guilt so I was really happy to see that. i know they want to put Eve and Justin together but I want to see Eve dealing what what happened. I hope they keep writing scenes like this for Eve because Kassie can really bring it.

I totally agree, but I suppose on one hand, they’ve already made Eve turn to men when things are bad, with the whole pouncing on JJ thing when she found out she couldn’t sing. I didn’t like it, but I can’t say it came as a surprise either.

Well the good thing is Eve was much better on today’s episode 9/11. She showed more remorse and Kassie did a fantastic job. I really hope that they write things like this where she shows her true talent. This Eve I would like to see more of.

Wow Days is getting good now, kassie Depaiva deserves a emmy next year. Her acting on yesterdays episode made me cry.

Oh wait til you see today’s episode, 9/11. She really knocked it out of the ballpark.

Personally, I was heartbroken. I didn’t see this coming, and I thought maybe it was a hoax to throw off the killer that Paige had agreed to do with JJ’s assistance, especially since he didn’t seem as overtly emotionally as I expected.
The performance given by Kassie DePaiva ranks as one of her best. Not crazy about her character but felt deep empathy for her as was crying with her when she kept saying “Paige I’m sorry,, I’m sorry” and I kind of lost it.
I really thought it was a hoax, but well, guess I was wrong, JJ and Paige were a cute couple, I was rooting for them somehow to surmount the recent events and get back together.
I guess now, Eve will hate JJ even more after her initial grief and despise Jennifer even more than she already does….and I guess this time around we can’t blame her.
WOULDN’T it be a kick though if JJ entered a room smiling and Paige was there, and it had all been a set-up to throw Clyde off the scent…..if indeed it IS Clyde behind these murders….and I suspect it’s not even him, I suspect it’s Aiden.

I really don’t want it to be Aiden.

I mean… what a tribute to Daniel Cosgrove

what an actor he’s turned out to be… just top notch… nothing over the top… a quiet, present … romantic.. tender… loving… He’s Masculine and yummy to boot…

when he first started…. I posted… he has magnificent eyes… they just throw me…. ! LOL… he’s that present…

I want it to be Ben. or… as some have posted… what if it’s Andre ?

Loving Kassie and Casey and already missing True! Loving the characters and storylines! Loving the twists and turns! Loving all of ‘Days of our Lives!’

Daniel or Jennifer is the necktie strangler. Daniel never wears his ties, so Jennifer may have found a use for them!

The next murder is said to be controversial…Victor or Caroline is my guess and Bo will be too late!

When Maggie and Victor were talking about Caroline and life, you kind of felt one of these three will be next…i still think its Will who is murderd and that is why Sami returns to Salem!!!

That could be, Jimh! Sami would also come back for Caroline…

OH please… do not let it be any of the three mention…. (Maggie, Victor, or Caroline)

let it be Will

I actually forgot for a moment that Caroline and Sami are related…she could be next but Guy Wilson isnt too popular with many Days fans so i still believe his DAYS(PUN) are numbered!!!

I found the reaction of JJ to be curiously understated. The shock and horror of finding the love of your life murdered was just not portrayed. There’s no way to know if this was the due to the actor’s choices or dictated by script or direction. Kassie DePaiva turned in an excellent and heart wrenching performance. Days is on fire and has gone from being my least favorite soap to my favorite.

casey protrayed jj as more angry and shocked then grief and sorrow! jj found the body and his mind went straight to anger towards cylde! casey s best when jj s angry! he tore the salem pd and cylde and a new one for paige s murder! i cant wait to see more of jj s reaction in upcoming episodes! casey s been so good at having a explosive temper and in between he s been delivering cool subtle performances! he s also been awesome as knowing he s out of his league in taking on cyles drugpin business and scared shitless!
casey s the best young actor and future days leading man! good job casey!

Kassie DePaiva’s performance was truly gut-wrenching & heart-felt. You could feel her pain. That was one of the best acted scenes I’ve seen on DOOL’s in a while. She really tapped in some raw emotion. She’s a true veteran! Love her!
I think either Ben is the serial killer & is trying to frame Chad so he won’t ruin the chances of Ben & Abigail being together. Or, it’s possible Aiden may be the serial killer.
As far as True’s character, I’m sad to see her killed off. I really loved her and Casey Moss’ on-air chemistry. But, I won’t be missing her over-all on the show. I know the new writers will be adding some dimension and excitement into the existing roles. Hopefully, any new characters on the show will be brought to life by great storylines.

ICAM! Wow. KDP brought it.

This was another great show. It seems the pace is almost too fast. After JJ found Paige, why did he not reach out to Jennifer and Abigail? It would have been great to see him have a final “morgue” scene with Paige, but it might have been too similar to EJ and Sami. I hope the show lets her death play out in many ways, especially with Eve and Justin, Eve and JJ finally calling a truce, etc. The drug storyline is getting lost in the shuffle with Patch, Bo and the murders. As much as I hate to admit it, I have not missed Sonny and he has already been gone for two weeks.

The show’s lighting looks better every day. The production standard is much better than three weeks ago. I look forward to the show every day again, which is something I haven’t said since Sami and EJ left the show.

Give us more Kate!

Keep up the great work.

And finally some different sets!!!

While I was never a fan of Paige, I thought the acting on all fronts in this storyline this past week has been stellar. Casey Moss and KDP were terrific. Just goes to show that when the writing challenges the actors as Paige’s death definitely does, these two performers can deliver and then some. For too long, DOOL has been too dull and uninspired, but the cast is energized and things are finally happening. It’s so much more fun to watch the show nowadays.

My question is WILL there be any more murders in Salem? I heard the rumor that Will Horton will be a victim. If Will is murdered by the Salem serial killer, it will most surely point the finger of guilt at Ben because Abigail has been confiding in Will. When Ben finds out and hears convention between Abigail and Will, he (Will) is toast!

As far as Paige’s death is concerned, I addressed that on the page that discusses Aiden, Paige and Bo. Don’t care to repeat myself here.

Regarding Paige’s death I will say this… Why hasn’t Theresa been told that Paige has been murdered? Theresa should have found out by now! Instead they have her running around trying to buy Basic Black!

Everybody in Salem knows that Theresa is Eve’s nearest kin in Sake. It is not realistic that no one would contact Theresa regarding Eve!

Even though Theresa is not the most mature or responsible person in Salem, she could have been told her sister needs her. I attribute this to short-sightedness on the part of the writers. There would still be time for Theresa to pursue buying Basic Black. (Although I think that idea is ridiculous and I hope that falls through because the notion is not believable even for a soap opera!)

I really think the writers are trying to mature Theresa and give her some growth…

I say: it’s about time

as i’m watching the best of daytime…

I watch scenes with Daniel, Eric, Brady, and Nicole… and have so little interest in them…

and these 4 were (doing their best) at carrying the show

so I can’t totally abandon their characters

everything else about DAYS is exciting

I believe the writers are trying to mature Theresa and I am all for that. But it should be done in a way that is plausible. Getting a job drawing designs would be plausible. One could even believe that Theresa is so excited about exploring her fashion design talents that she would come to work regularly, work hard and learn the fashion design business. But the idea of buying Basic Black or the idea of Nicole agreeing to partner Theresa is too farfetched.

Maybe the writers didn’t know how good Jen Lilley had been at portraying irresponsible and immature Theresa! Surely they couldn’t have come up with this ridiculous story if they had known.

I was never really a Paige fan however I do love Kassie I think she did a wonderful job as the grieving mother, actually speaking for myself I love Eve.I just feel so sorry for her .She always look so sad ,and if someone ever killed my daughter or son worse yet my grandchildren I would go after the sob myself. As far as Chad is concern no I don’t think he killed anyone ,it will be someone that you would never expect.Who knows maybe it is VIctors nephew I know he left town but how do we know for sure if he did or not.Now that is someone who is very capable of Murder we all know that.I hope Eve doesn’t get killed and I like her with Justin

I missed the part about Xander leaving town…. what an opportune time to return him… back to the show… as was posted… that… he’s the son Vincent Irizarry’

this would a a surefire twosome

another strong family to feature

PS: I Love the potential of Eve and Justin

I read in a SOD issue that Adrienne is breaking things off with Lucas and wants another chance with Justin…

could Eve be the one to make all the difference…. for big time drama…

and before we even have time to soak this in… VI character falls for Adrienne?

I don’t know if you did catch the show yesterday or not but Adrienne and Justin are going to give it another try .Oh rats I was so hoping that Eve and him would become an item.Unfortunately I just don’t see that happening especially now that Adrienne is going back to Justin, ugh,Oh do you or anyone else here get the Pop channel?Well they are now showing same day episodes of Days every night from 8-9 pm so now if we miss an episode we can always watch it there.. I also saw that Days ratings are not doing to well, maybe this necktie killer story will pick it up somehow ,funny they should do another serial killer story because I have been thinking for months now they need something like the Salem Slasher story or the Salem Strangler and boy was I ever happy when they decided to do this because the shows need something to liven it up. I want to see more of Eve ,I have this sneaky feeling that she will be on a lot more now,Good because as far as I am concerned she is the best part of the show.

What if the reason that Justin is so eager to put Chad behind bars is that he, Justin, is the killer? It’s far-fetched but they can justify it somehow if they wanted to. Meanwhile he and Eve grow closer and closer, making the reveal that much more dramatic. Just a passing thought….

I don’t think it is far fetched I went on record on another thread that Justin was my gut feeling to be the killer. The killer has to be someone no one would suspect in a million years. It has to be a character that is central to the show, but whose long term potential is limited– Days lured WK from GH, and I doubt he switched shows just to be a two bit player– and Justin owns a lot ties– the only mystery if this is true is what turns Justin into a murderer and what is his motive? Of course just by guessing Justin this early could be he is just a red herring and in the end we will all be surprised by the real killer.

1. i’m reveling in “all” the posts

because they’re that good

and DAYS is reigning

but… Wally Kurth’ Justin

this would be thee sucker punch of all sucker punch

I love him too much

but his acting is so sublime intelligent and mystifying that i’m on for the ride

I thought Kassie was phenomenal; as I expected she would be.

I’m not a fan of any Devereaux character. And I find any scene where Casey has to express significant emotion to be horrible. His voice takes a pitch that is incredibly whiny & grating.

I’m hoping Eve channels all her fury over Paige’s murder and directs it at Jennifer, JJ & Saint Abigail.

Kassie was amazing. I haven’t cried during a soap in ages but I have this week. Awesome performances!

I agree and yes I did some crying myself too.

Why did they have to kill Paige off, her and JJ made a good couple. I’m bout to stop watching Days and when is Clyde going to get his cause he needs to be stopped!

paige was just starting to be interesting. There are other characters that I’d like to see the serial killer strike…Theresa, for instance isn’t believable as a person that could possibly be in charge of basic black… Really? Cmon she still appears to look and act like a child could you really picture her as a woman in charge? It’s laughable!!

Kassie is one of the great actresses of the genre. If things had turned out differently I was certain she would have taken over from the great Erika Slezak as the matriarch of OLTL. Alas, was not meant to be.

I miss our beloved One Life to Live and all the fascinating people of Llanview so very, very much.

Its over three years since the people of Llanview left ABC. I assume you were a long time viewer as I was. There was never a better crafted, family oriented, funny or entertaining soap. I mourns and miss it still.

I think Clyde is the killer.

I hope you’re right. But I dunno. I think that is what they want us to think and they will twist it and it will be perhaps Ben? Ben knew Paige from before they both arrived in Salem so there is some history there. I think he’s trying to set up Chad to get him out of the way and apparently he has no conscience.

KDP always delivers, but I found her scenes way too short to have the needed impact. Soaps today think we have zero attention span so they switch scenes with dizzying speed.

can a body tell me about Justin and Adrians kids other that Sonny

Justin has a son with Angelica named Alexander. Justin and Adrienne adopted twins they named Joey and Victor and Sonny is their only natural child together.

pueformance good…willmiss True…Bens dad behind the killings…jenifer or JJ may be next

I know who the murderer is.. .Non other than Eric Brady.. Notice the ties he has been wearing these days… It has to be someone we know and someone we would never expect… There are clues that days is planting in the scenes.. we need to be watching for them.. .I am sad that I have figured it out so early though… but watch.. you heard it first from me!! Tim S…………………….

My husband has been saying the same thing – Eric.

U r proberly right it will be someone we least suspect. I just want Clyde gone. I am surprised at Victor and Stefano. They R suppose to know everything. I’m mad because of EJ. Stefano should know by now that Clyde was behind EJ murder. And the bug he planted hasn’t been found yet. Eve caused Paige death with all her meddling, she put everything in motion.

well I sat and just cried my eyes out for Eve. Her acting was superb. I really hated to see True go. I wanted so badly for her and JJ to get back together. Please leave Nichole and Daniel alone. She deserves to be happy. I think the killer is either Clyde or the less obvious is that overbearing Justin. I wish Rafe would smack him. Mmmmmmm maybe it’s Aiden. That would be a good way for them to get rid of him leaving Hope available for Bo. So far I’m enjoying the story. I only wish it was two hours long so we could get an hour of show instead of a half an hour with all those stupid commercials. I love Days. Been watching since day 1

I don’ t know if it was just me but watching Kassie today crying and throwing and knocking things over I broke down and yes I did cry.It felt so real.Hey I know I would have done the same thing as Eve,it just touched me so another job well done by Kassie

Okay I have at least two people I can think of who maybe the killer ,how about Ben we all know he has a mean tempter ,now get ready for this one Rafe,I know you are saying no way would Rafe ever kill someone,Hey they have had bad cops before and he to is such in a hurry to have Chad put in jail.also just a thought suppose the killer is a woman well any woman can go into a store and buy a tie,or perhaps it is someone that hates all woman as long as whoever it is doesn’t kill eve,, just a thought ,just do what I do try to look for clues for instance how some people talk I knew who the strangler was after a month by the way Jake talked,

Okay so here I am playing detective again ,something i love to do anyway that is besides the point here is a name to that I think could be the murderer ,are you ready for this Joey that’s right Kayla and Patch’s son hey he sure has a problem there is something that smells about him I know he has been angry because his dad wasn’t around but I believe there is more then that ,he looks and acts like he is dangerous is that the right wood to use and did anyone notice the killings started just about the same time Joey came into town. I could be wrong it is only a guess, but we wont know anyway till November ,,,

I also have this strong feeling that Eve and Jen will become close.Jen will feel so bad for her it may take awhile for Eve to even consider Jen as a friend, but we all know that Jen can be nice if she wants to be,I wouldn’t be upset if they got rid of Jen .never liked her snooty attitude, like she is miss perfect makes me want to upchuck lol Also that story with Abby and Ben does absolutely nothing for me at all it is just so boring ,,, To be honest I would rather have Abby with Chad…

I think that Rafe is the killer hey who would suspect him so he is a cop big deal cops can kill someone just like everyone else ,and he seems to want put someone away really fast .Even Marlena acted like she was so afraid of him.He to me looks to be hiding something and check out his and Chads jacket.if I am right they are wearing the same jacket ,so whoever thought they might have seen Chad may have actually seen Rafe.just a thought ,

As I was watching the show today I could just feel Eves pain,I cried along with her .Kassie is such a great actress and I hope she stays on days for years to come. She has touched my heart with her performance today,, she made me wish that I could reach out and give Eve a big hug.

Oh my God it has ben and yes I spelled it that way for a reason =i love to use puns but I was half way right I did say either Ben or Rafe, of course it has to be Ben the guy has a bad temper and I know he would do anything to have Chad put away.I hope Abby isnt this stupid to go away with him,but my question is why kill Paige and try to kill Marlena,? What did she ever do to him.I hope they catch his sorry well you know soon.Cant wait to see Eves face when she see’s who the killer is ,to be honest the minute Ben pulled that box out from underneath his bed I knew right away there would be ties in there ,Imagine how Abby will feel when she finds out her husband is the killer .I wonder now what is going to happen we are not suppose to know anything until November,so who knows,,,,by the way everyone have a nice day

whoops I meant to say it has ben a long time since days had a serial killer ,good job

Oh no not again well I just heard that Days has let go of Eve.I am not a happy camper.Days is making a huge mistake, why do they keep getting rid of characters that I love? I was so hoping that Kassie would be on Days for a ,long time .This stinks, well Kassie if you should read this ,I am so sorry that you are leaving you are not only a wonderful actress and I know you have a beautiful singing voice to .Days should have never made you stop singing .Now the only song I am singing is the blues.I am a big fan ,love ya. a fan

If I could write to Kassie I would tell that I think it just stinks that Days is letting her go.Whatever happened with the story that Eve was going to drive Jennifer crazy?? I knew something was up when they never had her Eve doing anything or talking about it.She is one of the main reasons why I watched days.Bad idea letter her go.As I sat here today watching her at Paiges funeral and breaking down the way she did ,oh what the h-l I sat here and broke right down with her.I know what it feels like to lose someone .I lost my husband .That is besides the point I could feel Eve’s pain.I dont blame her one single bit for yelling like that what was she suppose to do? I wish that Days would just let her stay.Is this due to the new writers letting her go I say all of this is bs.I should have know once her daughter was killed Days was going to do this.Hey this is awful just so awful I so looked forward everyday to watch Kassie perform and Kassie you got a raw deal I loved you as Eve.Damn it Days why couldn’t you get rid of Jennifer or Ben ,

Kassie’s performance was indeed worthy of an award. As a mom of a beloved daughter, I cried buckets. I didn’t like the writers killing off Paige. True is precious.

I agree with you about Kassie.I just wish Days didn’t can her.I have daughter to so I could feel her pain.Call me silly but I felt so bad yesterday for Eve I wish I could have jumped into the tv screen and give her a hug,

Matthew Ashford and Melissa Reeves Talk Return to DAYS for Doug’s Funeral, Susan Seaforth Hayes, and Their Enduring Friendship

Last week, Days of our Lives celebrated the taping of their 15,000th episode which is tentatively scheduled to air on December 3rd. The story will feature emotional and heart-tugging scenes of Doug Williams funeral and honor his portrayer, the beloved Bill Hayes, who passed away on January 12th at the age of 98.

While the actors, producers, and crew took a lunch time break to pose for some pictures and speak with the press, they knew they would have to get back to taping the funeral, which was going to make it a tough day, but also cathartic for all who loved Bill Hayes.

Several returns have thus far been announced including; Melissa Reeves reprising her signature role of Jennifer Horton (a part she first played in 1985), and Matthew Ashford as Jack Deveraux. Reeves had last appeared on the show back in 2021, and she was replaced by Emmy-winner Cady McClain in her absence when Jennifer was in storylines. In real-life, Melissa had moved full-time to Tennessee along with her husband, Scott Reeves (ex-DAYS, GH, Y&R). Now, and as previously reported, Reeves will first appear back on DAYS for the Thanksgiving episodes with the Hortons.

Michael Fairman TV caught up with Matt and Melissa during the 15,000th episode celebration to get their take on: being back for these special episodes, how it has been working with and watching Susan Seaforth Hayes portray Julie’s grief over losing Doug, and how they have supported each other through the years. Check out what they shared below.

Melissa, you are back on the set of Days of our Lives for this very emotional and special moment in the series history. How does it feel?

MELISSA: Oh, my goodness. I am honored. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else but to be here for Bill. He was like my real-life dance partner. He taught me how to ballroom dance. And to be here for Susan, of course, who’s just been our sweet hero this whole week. We’re just following her lead. She’s just been this incredibly strong example for us in the midst of this trial and season of her life. She is like just lifting us all up with her. It’s been incredible.

I was at Bill Hayes memorial service which was truly incredible and I know at the time you were in Tennessee. It was moving and celebratory of his life, all at the same time.

MELISSA: That’s all I have heard. I have to watch it on You Tube. They said it was just a real celebration of his life and I love that.

This must be difficult for Susan Seaforth Hayes depicting the death of Doug, when she is still grieving the loss of her beloved husband. (Susan pictured above with the returning Stephen Schnetzer who plays her on-screen brother, Steve Olson).

MELISSA: I’m sure Susan has those moments at home by herself, but she’s so good at being a leader and leading all of us. We’re following her, you know, and she’s like, “This is how I want to feel today.” And we’re just going along with her, you know? It’s so sweet.

Photo: JPI

How is it to see Matt Ashford again live and in-person?

MELISSA: You know, Matt and I can go years without talking, or seeing each other, and then the minute we see each other we’re chatting away.

MATT: Melissa was out on set doing a scene yesterday on the phone talking to a stage manager; as she was telling some really tough news on the phone. I’m like crying in the background, literally, I’m off-stage crying.

MELISSA: And then we get like back into normal life, and we’re like, okay, “What’s happening? What’s happening with this … or what’s happening with that?”

I had read, Melissa, that you were in touch with Matt about if there night be a possibility for you to reprise your role as Jennifer for these special episodes?

MELISSA: Yes. Well, Matt was like, “Hey! Would you want to come back? “And I was like, “Matt, you know, I would always come back. ”

MATT:  Every time I come here to Days of our Lives, they ask, “Where’s Missy? How’s Missy?” Everybody backstage says, “I miss her.” All of the crew is asking about her and saying, “It would be nice to see Missy. Nothing wrong with you Matt, but …”  They said, “Where is she?” I said, “She wants to come!”

Photo: JPI

There are some beautiful photos of Missy and Bill and Susan thorough the years that I found. It just reminded me of just the deep and entrenched history we all have had with the show, personally and professionally.

MATT: Missy is roughly the age where Francis Reid (ex-Alice Horton) was when she started the show, which is just crazy.

Photo: JPI

I’ve always said Missy was going to be the next generation Alice. Do you feel that Jennifer is the heir apparent matriarch of the Horton family?

MELISSA: Yes. I mean, this has been greatest blessing of my life, and that would be great. I told Ken Corday (executive producer, Days of our Lives) when I was 17 that this show would be my life. Ken always told me, “This is your home,” and I’ve always felt like that.

How have gotten through the scenes watching Susan Seaforth Hayes as Julie go through the loss of Doug?

MATT: Susan is bringing her best performance life for her and Bill. I mean, she’s a showbiz baby. She always has been one hundred percent, and she’s doing it for him, and this is who they’ve always been. So, you’re seeing this amazing performance colored by her life. She has her private life as Susan, but she has enough plugged into Julie that she’s done amazing work. The director, producers and writers are giving her room to live in these moments and it’s quite wonderful.

Photo: JPI

Have you already broken down in tears during the taping?

MELISSA: Yesterday, but today’s taping of the actual funeral I think they want us to try and be just more celebratory.

MATT: I mean, it is a beautiful long life for Bill Hayes and his character of Doug Williams, and so it will be about that. Then, you get a bunch of us together in the church pews, and there’s going to be hijinks.

MELISSA: We all have been through the waves of grief. You have that awful cry and then all of a sudden you feel okay.  There are those family situations we are portraying where you’re like, “What do we do? What do we do now? You know, no one knows what to do. But, it’s so sweet. I’m looking forward to seeing how the scenes all turn out.

So, are you glad that Matt and Melissa are back for the 15K episode and Doug’s funeral? From what we can tell, it’s going to be quite an emotional journey for Days of our Lives fans, and especially the performance of Susan Seaforth Hayes,

Ron Carlivati Talks on Decision to Make Days of our Lives 15000th Episode About Doug’s Funeral, and Previews Chances for WGA Award

This week, Days of our Lives celebrated the taping of their 15,000th episode. In of it itself, that is an incredible accomplishment for the long-running soap opera currently streaming on Peacock.

However, this on set gathering was a bit different. Though the show is celebrating their achievement, they are also in the middle of taping scenes surrounding the death and the funeral of Doug Williams, played by the late Bill Hayes, who passed away on January 12th of this year at the age of 98.

As previously revealed many longtime favorites are back to honor Bill and the character of Doug including: Gloria Loring (Liz), Melissa Reeves (Jennifer), Matthew Ashford (Jack), Maree Cheatham (Marie), Victoria Konefal (Ciara) and Stephen Schnetzer (Steve) to name but a few.

Michael Fairman TV was in attendance and spoke with Days of our Lives head writer, Ron Carlivati to gain some insight into how the 15,000 episode was crafted and the decision to honor the character of Doug Williams and Bill Hayes as its epicenter. In addition, Ron weighed-in on this Sunday’s April 14th WGA (Writers Guild of America) Awards, where he and his writing team are facing off with General Hospital for the daytime drama prize. Here’s what Ron shared below.

Was this your idea to make the 15,000th episode centered around Doug’s funeral and passing?

RON: It was. When you’re looking at it, and laying out the calendar for the whole year and you see 15,000 is coming up, we’re like, “What are we going to do?” And then, we got the news that Bill had passed away and something kind of clicked. I was like, “We should honor Doug on that show.” So then, we started to kind of build around that … when does he pass away? How does he pass away? Who could come back? You know, it’s a lot.  I’m very pleased with the returns that we got as there’s so much that you could do. We wanted everybody we could get. So, we put together a wish list and Janet Drucker (co-executive producer, Days of our Lives) made it happen.

Photo: JPI

You have Melissa Reeves back as Jennifer, when the role was last played by Cady McClain. What has it meant to have Missy back for these shows?

RON: It was so nice to see Missy Reeves. I think Cady has done such a good job, but on the 15,000th episode to see Missy as Jennifer, it’s a big deal. So having her was great, and overall, the milestone was a big undertaking, because you want to live up to it. You want the 15,000th episode to be good. Now, it has a lot of real emotion that you’re playing. because for the cast and the crew they’re honoring Bill Hayes just as much as we’re honoring Doug Williams.

Photo: JPI

Was it hard for you and the team to write this episode?

RON: Yes. I’ll tell you why it was hard to write.  When I wrote, for example, Asa’s (Phillip Carey) death on One Life to Live or Victor’s (John Aniston) on DAYS, Asa is a different type of character. Like, you could have characters going, “Oh! I’m glad he is dead.” You could have different points of view, but with Doug, you’re not having that. Every person loves this man. No one had a bad relationship with him. So, you’re challenge as a writer is how do you make it that not everybody’s saying the same thing and doing the same thing. And so, we tried to find ways to make the episode about all the familial relationships and yet, how do you make it about Doug and yet broaden the scope.

Photo: JPI

I had spoken to Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie), a week after Bill’s memorial, for an interview. She said that she felt very fortunate that you did include her on discussions of how you would tackle Doug’s passing. How did that conversation go?

RON: First, I attended Bill’s funeral, which was incredible. I said to so many people it was an emotional service, but it was hard to be sad at this. The guy had an incredible life and it was an incredible celebration. And so, you’re sitting there watching this knowing that you now have to write something similar. And how do you write something that lives up to what you just witnessed? I wanted to talk to Susan to get her thoughts about, you know, how much do you want this to be about keeping Bill separate from Doug. How comfortable are you sharing your grief. She was incredible to talk to. It was a great chat.

You’re in the middle of taping these major scenes for the 15,000 episode to air in December. How do you think it’s going? Have you seen any of the scenes?

RON:  I haven’t seeing anything. I mean, we were still making changes to the script up till this morning!

Photo: JPI

The Writers Guild Awards are this Sunday, April 14th and once again this year there are two daytime drama nominees, General Hospital and Days of our Lives. How are you feeling about your chances this year?

RON: It is often just GH and us in the category. I’ve won three years in a row, so I’m kind of feeling like it’s their turn.

Photo: JPI

What episodes did you submit for contention? If I recall, they had to do with Victor’s memorial.

RON: The episodes we submitted were centered around Victor’s funeral. I think one has story with Vivian (Louise Sorel). We had some fun stuff, we had some emotional stuff at Victor’s death, and I am pretty sure that our submission was three episodes right around that time.

Did you make the decision to go with those episodes because there was a mix of humor and drama?

RON: I like to have some humor, but it was also the funeral, then there’s Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) giving birth, and then Vivian’s crashing the reading of the will. So, we had a lot of fun and it’s hard sometimes to pick three that tell a story, as opposed to submitting for the Daytime Emmys, where the writing team only submits two shows. So, we shall see how it goes on Sunday.
