DAYS OF OUR LIVES: Sami Lays The Smackdown On Abigail!

Courtesy/NBC

After letting EJ (James Scott) know that she set him up, put him in jail, took his company, and has known that her new hubby had an affair with Abigail Deveraux (Kate Mansi), Sami (Alison Sweeney) isn’t finished!  In fact as she told EJ, she is just getting started at how she is going to make him pay and suffer for his betrayal!

But EJ is only one half of the guilty party, and on today’s episode of DAYS, Sami finally lets on to Abigail that she has known for months that she had sex with her husband in the shower of the company changing room and more!

Sami also made sure that Abigail’s mother, Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) saw the illicit photo of EJ and Abigail in the throes of passion that was in her possession too, and then Sami proceeds to let Abigail have it with both barrels!

An enraged Sami begins: “I am upset that I thought the woman that was my friend, the woman that I let bake cupcakes with my children, the woman I felt sorry for because my husband’s brother ‘hurt her’ … that woman who came into my house had an affair with the father of my children and the man that I love.”

Later in her tirade, Sami continues to confront Abby for having sex with her man: “Do you want to talk about the shower?  In the company changing room?  You tracked him down at his place of business and had sex with him in the shower.  And you were like, ‘What if Sami doesn’t find out?  It’s all cool with me!’  I’m… not…done… yet! I know that you were naked in the shower having sex with my husband where anyone could have walked in on you … because someone did … me!”

So what do you think about how Sami revealed to Abigail and Jennifer that she had known all this time of Abby’s affair with EJ?   What did you think about the performance of Alison Sweeney who brought her A-Game both on Thursday and Friday’s episode of DAYS this week?  Let us know!

Love Allison Sweeny.

I concur! Really, really going to miss her! I hope to read her books soon. They sound like a fun, quick read.

Ali was fantabulous today and I loved how she humiliated that skank Abigail

The whole thing was beautiful, I could watch Sami lay Abby out over and over. Just wish one other character on that show would give Abby some heat over her willful assistance in cheating.

Ali was fantastic.

Tell me about it!!!! Why isn’t anyone mad at the fact that Abby is such a pig and slept with her cousin’s husband (after also trying to sleep with Carrie’s husband) ??? She isn’t ten years old. How could Will ever speak to her again? It’s all just ridiculous to me. If someone slept with my mom’s boyfriend/husband or hurt her in any way, that’s the last time I would ever be civil to them. I’m not a fan of how they’re playing this out.

Fans of the genre should watch those episodes and tune in Monday!!! I’m sure most DAYS fans are very happy with DAYS and all it’s performers! Can the Y&R fans say the say the same?

It was entertaining but i dont see much of an aftermath…Abigail humilated and thats all…wish she past an std to E.J. and then he to Sami…that would make great drama and give Abigail the reputation as the town skank…lol

more to come from Sami……

From the Y&R ratings “struggle in key demographic”, it would appear that they are not. The Days characters actually have emotions and aren’t afraid to show them. The stories come to a logical conclusion. I am very impressed with DOOL.

Are you loving Kassie DePaiva as Eve? I am!!!

Days is the best written soap these days. GH is terrible from the bottom up. Y&R is as boring as it could be.

Correct. Y&R was my favorite soap. Now, I don’t care much if a miss a few episodes. Days and GH rock.

Definitely loving Kassie DePaiva as Eve. She’s just getting started and I can see her causing major trouble for several people. Once again, I have to say Days is heads above Y&R. Y&R had Genie Francis and Debbi Morgan and Darnell Williams and did nothing with them. Days is letting Kassie act. I love it.

“…Sami also made sure that Abigail’s mother, Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) saw the illicit photo of EJ and Abigail in the throes of passion that was in her possession too, and then Sami proceeds to let Abigail have it with both barrels! :

Kudos! applause… standing ovation

if this is what it takes.. and is plausible enough to bring down Jennifer

then so be it : have at it : Sami reigns in Salem!

let Jennifer stew… and is so distracted for her daughter.. that she’s not fully aware of Eve.

for the millionth billionth trillionth time… if Jenn should win…and not let the otherworldly tour de force charcters… (Sami, Eve, Theresa ) win payola… then it’s all for naught… why would the audience vigil for this outcome… Jenn is boring

Daniel is boring

Abs and JJ need to learn from their livelihood and move

dabble in EJ
dabble in Theresa

it’s not a bad outcome

Jenn and Daniel are dull

Jenn and Daniel are meaningless

Abs will venture forward with Ben… with her her ideals
JJ will invite Paige with his own past experiences and load his manhood.. with Theresa Jealous

it’s all I can take… to leave well enough alone… Daniel and Jenn don’t belong

let Abs and JJ travel fly nest and live

Jen is in serious need of a mental breakdown like her mother Laura…then we hear Eve remark in front of Laura(hope she returns for the shows 50th) ‘Well the nut surely doesnt fall far from the tree’ to which Laura returns with a not too friendly slap!!!

I thought it was the “apple” , jimh…lol. Just kidding. Very fitting pun, “nut” how very clever of you , jimh…then again, your remarks always are.

Sami gave it to EJ & Abigail with both barrels and they deserved it. Knockout performances by Allison Sweeney. Really sorry to see her go.

The past two days have been incredible on DOOL. First, confronting EJ on Thursday and Abigail on Friday. This has been my favorite storyline all year and the confrontations did not disappoint. Alison needs to submit these reels at next year’s Emmys. The dialogue was perfection, with Sami saying everything that everyone who has been cheated on wished they would have said.

I still can’t help but wish Abigail would hav been pregnant. The fallout would have been amazing. It would have also been great if Chad would have been in town to hear from Sami that EJ and Abigail hooked up. Recast Chad with an older, more mature actor, bring back Melanie and the show will rock. I am also hoping Peter Blake comes back.

There was rumor Melanie was returning but dont know how true…would be nice if Melanie returns, having run into Chad and they arrive in Salem as husband and wife?

WOW! Loved every bit of it and waiting for more! Emmy worthy!

Well written and well acted on all parts. All 3 actresses did a great job. Sami had every right to say what she said to Abby, and I even liked Jennifer giving Abby unconditional support, though I’m sure she’s very disappointed in her. I have to give DOOL credit. They faked us out with the Ejami scenes where we thought she was confronting EJ and I was not happy about that, but what they ultimately wrote was better and well done all around.

Ali delivered it like no one elses business…not sure how dool will deal with the loss of this dynamo…hope she gets an Emmy nod

I think what she said is open to interpretation. The way I heard it, she could have figured it out after the fact.

No matter what, I can’t wait to see what Sami has left for the homewrecking sl*t.

I would hardly call Abigail a homewrecker. That would imply there was a home to wreck. EJ has raped Sami himself…he was responsible for her being raped repeatedly by the Fake Rafe… Sami has shot EJ in the head…they have done horrible vile things to each other. This brief dalliance with Abigail is the LEAST of what these two have done. Sami and EJ are messed up damaged people who have no idea what love really is. Using Abigail as a scapegoat for their screw ups is not fair.

You probably don’t realize your watching a soap. All that stuff about EJ and Samantha – in the past. Done. Not germane to this discussion. And yeah, Sami and EJ are messed up, damaged people. That still doesn’t change the fact that Abigail is a “lying, homewrecking sl*t” (Her words). BTW, Abigail is as much of a screwup as Sami and EJ are, maybe even more. After all, she had no moral compunctions about going after a taken man, the father of the children she babysat for, the fiancee of the woman who’d been nothing but kind to her. And don’t forget that she wanted to continue being EJ’s side piece, even after he turned her down.

How true that is, Johnny. I really am a fan of Sami, so it becomes very easy to overlook her past flaws; specifically for myself since I missed the majority of Sami’s misdeeds.
I did get my minute of satisfaction and that is enough for me. I am not a vengeful person by nature, so personally I would not continue to wrest any revenge and create all sorts of havoc for Abbi or torture her. But, Sami is a different animal and no one crosses her….she does seek the ultimate vendetta. As I previously said, Sami cannot simply leave quietly with her tail tucked between her legs…how mortifying! She must flamboyantly walk the Bette Davis walk ….head high, shoulders straight and hips swinging in defiance, her stare challengingly saying, “I dare you…!”. All she needs is a cigarette between her fingers throwing her arm this way and that…lol can you picture it?
I do agree with you; EJ wrecked his own “home”. Granted, Abbi was old enough to have known better, but, if EJ and Sami had been in complete harmony, and if his love for Sami had been all-consuming and true,he would not have lost himself in someone else so easily. In that case, Abbi’s persistent pursuit of EJ would not have been an issue. Am I too naive? I repeat, these scenes are so well-written and compelling…I raise my glass to you DOOL !!

Well, in the next few weeks what will really happen to poor Abigail…Ben will break up with her before their relationship even got started…will she cry over something that barely started…will Jen disown her(doubt that)…had it been Abigail and Danial and Abbey got preggars that wouldve made for better drama…big deal how its currently written…Sami and E.J. are leaving…so i dont see much of an aftermath…i can see Theressa, Eve and Ann making some remark to Jen about her not so goody daughter…Abigail and Ben will move on and be together…Clyde rapes Abigail who will become pregnant…she passes child as Bens after refusing not to get an abortion and keeping rape a secret…Clyde terrorizes Jordan for weeks and gets Rafe fired from his job and blackmails Kate…Ben learns Abbey was raped and the child not his…Clyde found murdered…Jen confesses on the witness stand she killed Clyde and has a breakdown in the courtroom…she gets away with killing Clyde because of an insanity plea…Aiden defends her…Jen is placed in a mental hospital and as she is escorted from the courtroom Eve is heared to remark’ The nut doesnt fall far from the tree’, bringing up Jens mother Lauras past mental problems which is overheard by Laura(Erika Slezak or Jamie Lynn Baurer) who is in the courtroom and lets go on Eve with a not so friendly slap!!! No, this is not a spoiler just me dreaming up another story of how i wish it would turn out…lol

I love that story, jimh!

John will rescind his machismo

still LOVE’ing it

Emmy winning performance by Ali Sweeney! I think that she was justified in her actions and letting Abigail have it with both barrels! However, EJ was sent by Sami to keep Abigail from going to Hope and keep her quiet. Little did EJ know that Abigail had the hots for him!

I liked it because she was furious but it was controlled, she knew exactly what she wanted to say and how to say it for the greatest effect. Her plan to humiliated Abby as much as Abby humiliated her by sleeping with EJ, was a lot better than seeing the two of them in some kind of cat fight, pulling each other’s hair out, or slapping each other. I love the scenes in the jail with EJ too— it is moments like that that makes putting up with all the slow dull stuff on this show worth it. And if AS doesn’t win an Emmy for these performances next year, it would be real shame

A.S. deserves an emmy next year…the show was getting dull until the Sami/Abigail confrontation which even made Jen a little more interesting for a change…however, other than Abbey humiliated i dont see much happening in the weeks ahead…wish Abigail had passed an STD to E.J. who then passed it on to Sami so all three got what they deserve…and if Jack was alive he wouldnt have much to say being he had raped Kayla all those years ago…jmo!!!

How exactly would Abigail have an STD?

You are right, of course, Mary. But my most satisfying moment in the jail cell, was the complete show of WOMAN-POWER !!!!! EJ DiMera, the I-can- get-away-with-anything son of the omnipotent Stefano D Mera was hoodwinked by not just a Brady,,,….a Brady woman, ditzy Sami to boot. How will Stefano ever get over it? Lol. How gratifying was that? Not to mention Sami’s superb performance in making both Jen and Abbi eat crow. I must also be fair here, in that, Mansi’s performance was not too shabby either. Her acting was credible, in my opinion…..her best yet.

DAYS production is, rightfully so, thanking, Alison Sweeney… by giving her, HER crowning achievement by chess piecing Salem… giving her that backbone… and letting EJ, Abs, and any one else who’s questioned her ability….

I am enjoying that she gets this tour de force try…. to be

is this all out vengeance… ??? what about love… that she’s questioned.. every since the day she saw Mom on the pool table with John

will she ryans daughter it and leave Salem… on her own two feet… or with EJ… and come hell or highwater… whatever her need has been… and give the fans who love Ejami… that light… even if it’s not a paved road to emerald city

it’s Sami TURN… time to leave an impression… that she’s not to be taken lightely

thats what i’d hoped for… I certainly do acknowledge and thank the stars… that AS carried DOOL for many a year… when it seemed DAYS was at a point of no return… Sami … for all her flaws… mainstays

when Sami first mentioned to EJ that she was the new CEO… and he took it lightely and you could tell, immediately, that he’d never have allowed that… hence… CeeCee… I love the WOMAN-POWER

but, i have to wonder… when Sami and EJ do exit… after 6 months as co – chair CEO… that Kate… will be ejected… from…. and Stefano… will rightfully attain his kingdom

my sentiment… that the DiMera always ascend the less than in Salem

I am so hoping.. that DOOL recast… or come hell and high water… who cares what Melissa Reeves thinks… they re-hire… Peter Blake… to keep the mix of DiMera interesting in Salem… Jason Brooks is the bomb… salivate

or bring on Michael Muhney, Trevor St. John… to carry the DiMera mystique

——

I’ve posted enough… that Kate Mansi does have the acting ability to mix with Sami and EJ… but… needs to buck up… forget her mothers rosary and horton happenstance… and find her steely resolve.. and get her identity… it’s not all rose colored follow the rules… get to communion… GET a LIFE Abs

do I hope… beyond measure… that Jenn eats crow… and is so caught up in … Abs… that Eve prevails… I LOVE how much energy : Kassie DePaiva… tumultuously delivers

she is enigmatic stirring beyond reach heightens in your realm first

LOVE the potential the Donovan Clan LIVE

Ali was incredible. I just hope ejami get back together before both actors leave. They are two lengendary together to not have that happen. They are soulmates.

Unfortunately that chance was ruined when they made him sleep with her cousin—which was sooo out of character for EJ’s character. I still hate that they did that. They ruined the only relationship on the show that still had chemistry with a typical “cheating” storyline.

When Abby opened the front door and Sami was standing there with that look on her face.. I was scared..lol

ASweeney was wonderful this week. I loved her outing of notsosweet liitle Abby to her mother. Sami was fearless while Abby could only sniff and hang her head. If Sami only knew how Abby had gone after EJ her treatment of Abby would have been worse. I do wish this story would get back to EJ and Sami minus the ever present “angel”.
I

I totally agree, Cindy! I think Abigail was flattered and admired EJ because he read Jack’s book and they discussed Art; that’s why she had the hots for him! I wish they would write EJ sticking up for himself as far as how the sex with Abigail started. She went after him, taking his scarf off, unbuttoning his jacket in the cabin when he tried to leave several times. He was vulnerable because Sami kicked him out of her bed and accused him of knowing about Kristen’s drugging Eric long before the debacle of a wedding. Abigail following him into his private shower and getting in there with him was so disgusting for a girl who claimed to be so virtuous; belonging to the “Golden Circle Club” and wanting to wait for the right man or marriage to have sex! I would have said the same thing to a girl who went after my husband and had sex with him! Good job, Sami! You are vindicated!

Pardon my impertinence, bettyr, but are you defending EJ’s multiple indiscretions? He was vulnerable because Sami did not want to have sex with him? Awww, poor EJ… He has needs. Forgive me, but that is so archaic…He just could not keep it in his pants. Abbi, the temptress (NOT), unleashed her wanton desires on him? He is no teen ager whose hormones are raging and galloping uncontrollably. He did not have to succumb….not to an undescript, not so pretty, totally unsexy, little Abigail….he should have made a dramatic exit by stating…”Get thee to a nunnery”,
We cannot exculpate EJ and put it all on Abbi’s head…that is called a double standard. If a girl/woman steps out, she is automatically labeled a slut…but, when a guy does the same thing, he is what? A stud? I suppose it is generational, but, cheating is cheating, no matter the generation. And, both parties are accountable. Not one, more than the other. As I said, that way of thinking is passé …I do agree with the rest of your statements, except that Abbi was not so virginal …remember Chad? He “deflowered “her…there’s a nice old-world word for you…lol. As many posters have stated, Abbi is a hypocrite…with a holier-than-thou attitude, similar to her mother.
I admire how well thought-out these scenes were written. I hope the moral of this story gives us pause…don’t mess with Sami? Lol. Seriously, I don’t know how I would act in similar circumstances. I give my marriage and my little family my all. So, seeing a facsimile of insipid Abigail go at it with my husband would make me see red. Knowing myself–(spitfire) — I certainly would not be as composed as Sami. I applaud the collaboration of the writers, the actors and the show collectively.

“… I give my marriage and my little family my all. ”

beautiful

well said

as do I

do i dream a little dream… a little bit… sure… it’s not a manifest… but… sublime endorphin out of reach magnet

YOU said it best… Days of OUR Lives is to be celebrated and endeared and lived with

watch DAYS

“… I applaud the collaboration of the writers, the actors and the show collectively. ”

isn’t it something to say this about a show in this current day realm ?

days is doing it

Wow! I have not seen Days since Abby was in her terrible two’s! Now she is her terrible twenties it would seem. I have not turned on GH or Y&R in almost two months and turned on Days just yesterday in order to watch the magnificent, always pitch perfect, Kassie Depaiva. Seeing Allison Sweeney’s amazing swan song was deliciously great fun and crystallized the joy of watching day time drama. You know, that feeling that your eavesdropping on your neighbors? And last time I saw Sami was when she was pounding on the huge church windows, sobbing and screaming while watching her perfect big sister marry Lucas. I may be tuning back into Days as I need a new soap to fill the void GH and Y&R have left behind.

You will not regret your decision to watch DAYS, Harry. There is sooooo much to love!!!

Thank you 4ever. I guess you could say the first time I tuned into Days, the devil made me do it. Yes, I tuned into to watch Marlena spin her head around and spit up green vomit at John.

Carrie married Austin…not Lucas.

“… turned on Days just yesterday in order to watch the magnificent, always pitch perfect, Kassie Depaiva. Seeing Allison Sweeney’s amazing swan song was deliciously great fun and crystallized the joy of watching day time drama.”

@Harry : purrrFECT

these women are on top : in charge : commanding

have to repeat your last line :

“…crystallized the joy of watching day time drama”

DAYS is 98% full of all the elements that trigger attention span…. I watch the whole hour and can find nary a complaint (save for Daniel and Jenn ) but that’s ad nauseum… and even I have to give myself a break.

Kassie DePaiva with her daughter Paige
Kassie DePaiva with her sister Theresa

I hope KD is on the a long long time

all the perfect combustion between Eve and Jenn… makes me laugh…

I have to applaud Alison Sweeney : her acting was top draw

that controlled steely reserve she dug up with Abs and Jenn…. was a marvel to delight in

LOL… loved when Sami was telling Abs and Jenn… if you look even more closely at the picture…. you’ll see the Horton Cabin…… where this all went down

delicious stuff…. evenmoreso down the turnpike for OUR Days

Hope and Aiden : wasn’t Hope radiant pulled together… as she and Aiden slow danced close

Kristen is coming home next month

Are Brady and Theresa married?

lets go to the MOVE’ees : this is marcqee stuff

No Patrick, Kristen is coming home next week! She comes home on Friday the 25th of this month! Do a happy dance!!!

I don’t think Brady and Theresa are married. It’s a trick..Trickster Theresa…Troublemaking Theresa…Theresa the Terrible…it’s all Theresa…and what will KRISTEN do?! What will Theresa do? What will Eve do? I know what we’ll be doing…we’ll be watching!!!!!!!!!!

I am a newbie to DOOL. I started watching because my all-time favorite Kassie DePaiva was coming on board. And as usual, she doesn’t disappoint. but whoa!!! Even though I have been an admirer of Alison Sweeney personally, I hadn’t watched her act. OMG!! She is something else! I’m sorry she’s leaving, but I will continue to admire until she does.

I hope all your DAYS are enjoyable, conniemac! Happy viewing!!!

Me too. I dropped Y&R when the good actors started dropping like flies. When I heard Kassie was going to Days I started watching just before she got there. Been watching ever since.

It wasn’t as good as the EJ confrontation but you could tell that Sami has been dying to get all that off her chest ever since she found out. She held it in for so long and unleashed it. Otherwise, she has no room to talk after sleeping with Nicole’s husband and cheating on Rafe then blamed EJ if I’m not mistaken. The shoe’s on the other foot and she doesn’t like. boo

Hoping AS ends up on GH!!!! Please soap gods

Wow, can you imagine? Oh, the possibilities !!

NO. PLease, No.

She’s too good to be wasted on that mess of a show.

She is directing at GH lol

I guess everyone has to take a turn taking out the garbage.

sami did the right thing

Alison’s performance was spot on. She is my fav actress and will always be. She deserves an Emmy already.

Not that EJ did not deserve every word, but Sami herself cheated on her husband (Rafe) and has never gotten the verbal bashing from anyone for all her antics. Wonder why Sami thinks Abby deserves the dressing down. Oh, yeah, it is because Sami is so special that crossing her is an absolute NoNo….Only Sami can go after other women’s men. LOL

Good point, Emma. But, I think that since Ali is leaving, Sami has to depart with flourish. She is the anointed one…lol….can do no wrong. She did get a taste of her own medicine, didn’t she ! Glad you brought that out.
My supreme and absolute satisfaction was exposing Abbi and divesting her of her good girl image. And, as I said earlier, The jail scene with EJ was superlative….so palpable; so real. I love this show !!!!
I am anxiously waiting to see how the writers are staging EJ’s and Sami’s exits. Will EJ remain in jail? Will Sami go to places unknown with the kids to get over her hurt? The twist would be if she did forgive him and they all leave together, as a family.
I am also interested to know Jimh’s feelings on how this storyline should end. His comments entertain me.

jimh’s comments entertain everybody! If he gave up on DAYS, I’d slip into depression!

That’s exactly how I felt! When she goes after other women’s men, they are supposed to cower and concede. Even the men she cheats on are reduced to hanging their heads. I’m glad it was EJ that cheated on her. She was counting on his obsession to keep him in line but nope. He strayed anyways HEHE.

Well #1 it was her cousin and #2 Abby is not supposed to be like Sami (who’s known for being a little nuts). Abby needs to get her a** kicked. Remember when she went after Carrie’s man? Good thing Abby’s a pretty girl because she’s very annoying.

I do not think Sami & Abby are cousins. Abby IS a cousin to Sami’s son, Will, but not to Sami herself.

This situation is about Sami dressing down Abby for sleeping with EJ, and nothing else. If Abby has to be taken to task for trying to pretend an affair with Austin, then Carrie can well take care of that, and has.

Meanwhile, Sami is calling out Abby for having sex with EJ (who has cheated on his wives many times) but seems to not remember how she herself cheated on HER HUSBAND with EJ.
Sami was never a cheater on her men, until that fateful day. But her wrath should be rightly aimed at EJ. And while she is saying something about making Abby her friend, that is not true. She coerced a reluctant Abby into lessons on art…….but they were never friends.

Phenomenal acting by Alison Sweeney and James Scott 🙂 will miss these two.

AS was incredible as was JS on Thursday! What else can I say? They can’t be replaced!

Great show. Hell hath no fury like a scorn soap diva. it was great to see Sami let Abby and her holier than thou mother have it. Jen reminds me of Liz on GH, soooo boring.

Amazing week of DOOL!!!

DOOL is the best. Loving it.

I hope that the writers don’t let E.J. and Sami split completely. E.J. took a lot of heat from his father when she shot the cop. E.J. groveled at his father’s feet to get help for Sami. Plus, he did everything to help Sami, Kate, and Gabi with the Nick situation.
Also, I can’t believe that S. Di Mera doesn’t know what’s happening ; he’s a smart man who is clued into everything. Any man who knew about E.J and Abby seeing a doctor about a pregnancy knows what Kate and Sami are doing. I’ll never believe that writers are writing S. di Mera as a fool. EJ. isn’t as ruthless, powerful, and shrewd as his father; therefore, he doesn’t have the sharpness and smarts of his father. So, I never expected as much from him. E.J. at times appeared to be softer and putty in the hands of his enemies.
I don’t want this retaliation to be one sided ; E .J. needs to get some zingers in also. Afterwards, send them off the show together trying to make their marriage work because they truly love each other and for the children who will be caught up in this mess.
Sami’s only thinking about herself and her hurt ; what about the kids?

GREAT week on DOOL, absolutely great. I could watch Sami smack Abigail and Jenn every day, every week. And if Abigail doesn’t take Sami’s advice and get out of town then she’s every bit as dumb as she looks, and that’s pretty dumb.

DOOL is the best. I can’t even watch GH or Y&R anymore.

I AGREE SAMI (ALISON SWEENEY) DEFINATELY DESERVES AN EMMY FOR HER PERFORMANCES… I LOVED THE WHOLE CONFORTATION WITH EJ AND THE ONE WITH ABBY AND JENNIFER… I LOVE WHEN JENNIFER SAID I DONT WANT TO HEAR ANY MORE YOU SHOULD LEAVE THEN SAMI SAID WELL YOU SHOULD LEAVE BECAUSE IM ABOUT TO UNLOAD AN EARFUL ON YOUR SLUT OF A DAUGHTER. I LOVED IT ALL ACTUALLY JUST WISH THEY WOULD OF SHOWED MORE FOCUSED ON THAT… I CANT WAIT TO WATCH MONDAY’S EPISODE N SEE MORE OF THIS AND THE REST OF THE WEEK

I have never been a Sami fan. That is mostly because under Jim Reilly’s pen she was written as such a one note brain damaged psychopath. But lately, thanks to some kick-ass writing, Allison Sweeney seems just lit from within. She has been nailing every performance and knocking them right out of the park. If I have one quibble, it would be a much more interesting story if Sami was actually not mad at Abigail…and not going the predictable route of calling her slut and whore etc. Sami did far worse in her youth than Abigail ever did. It would be neat if Sami realized her past mistakes, and forgave Abigail thereby kind of forgiving herself for all the horrendous things she did. It comes off as very hypocritical for Sami to be so vitriolic towards Abigail when Sami spent most of her life plotting to steal someone else’s man. But aside from that….I love everything about this story. Kate and Sami are just awesome as frenemies! The writing on Days is as good now as it was under Paula Cwikly and Peter Brash circa 11-12 years ago! I laughed out loud at the recent scene where Kate encountered Jordan/Tammy Sue in the park and said “Talking to yourself now Jordan?”. WHO is Kate to take anyone to task for talking to themselves in random public places??????? LMAO. Kate regularly confesses her crimes while talking to herself in strange places like parks, restaurants, town squares, offices, etc etc. Eg. “Oh Sami…if only you knew I was the one who was responsible for you being sent to death row for killing Franco. If you ever found out that the real killer was actually my son Lucas Roberts, there would be hell to pay! But you will NEVER find out!”. It sounds as absurd as it looks. I wish this show, and others, would stop having people talk to themselves so much. It is a lazy way to recap story, it makes characters look like morons, and it insults the viewers. That said though…Lauren Koslow understands the camp factor just enough to pull it off, even though I wish she didn’t have to.

I know some people in real life who talk out loud to themselves….maybe not an entire page of dialogue but nevertheless they do.
Of course, some of them should probably be institutionilized but regardless, I have witnessed it. I found myself talking out loud the other day when I was looking for something in our Supply closet at work….”now where did I put those syringes” (I work in medical) –

Lol. Janet…we all do to some extent. But we don’t confess crimes out loud to ourselves in parks. If we do we are psychotic and deserve to be caught. Viewers are not stupid. We can tell what characters are doing and thinking through body language, facial expressions, etc. Characters don’t need to telegraph every thought and action by talking to themselves.

I am the ONLY one who felt sorry for Abigail – I thought Sami could have told her privately that she didn’t appreciate what had gone down with EJ –
She didn’t have to humiliate her in front of her own mother. I realize it’s a campy
soap but even at that I thought it could have been written differently.

Exactly. Sami has had a lifetime of mother issues so you’d think…even in her hurt state…she could have not had Jennifer right there. Then again Sami and Jennifer have not always had the best relationship so maybe a part of the old bitter psychotic Sami wanted to stick something to Jennifer. Sami cannot be jaded and stupid enough to think that Abigail is just a flat out whore. After all EJ raped Sami. Sami knows how persuasive he can be. It would be a much more powerful, unpredictable plot point if Sami was NOT mad at Abigail. Kate Mansi is an awesome actress and she makes good out of some very inconsistent and bizarre writing choices for the character of Abby. I like her and Ben but I wish he had been cast as a recast Chad.

That’s a very noble sentiment, Tony…..in real life, that is. But even then, people lose focus when faced with betrayal. By the same token, I may be wrong, but, it think you’re missing the point. Most of us (the viewers), at least Sami fans, wanted to see Abbi humiliated…and her mother as well. We were waiting for it to happen with bated breath…I was, anyway. Obviously I cannot speak for everyone. I overstep! Forgive me.

Did you just say she “didn’t appreciate what had gone down with EJ?” Did Abby break a dish or sleep with Sami’s husband?

I think she broke a dish when she was reaching for………like sand through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.

Patrick, I love your eloquence and your poetic heart. Most people would need to decipher your writing…I get it !!!!! I write with my heart as well. Shakespeare better watch out… You may just outrun him…lol.

@boes…now, that’s funny.lol

Great performances all around. I think Sami was just raring to go at Abigail and the fact that Jen turned up wasn’t going to stop her…it just made the confrontation sweeter for her.

Cannot wait to see what other havoc Sami & Kate will ring down on the DeMera’s. I bet that is how Kristen returns…at the bequest of Stefano to help deal with this crises.

Can’t wait for the public humiliation to begin. Sanctimonious Abby (& Jen) both deserve what’s coming to them. Finally.

It is really bugging me how Sami’s own family (Eric, Will & Sonny) seem to be taking Abby’s side in this. They need to see Abby’s true colors. I hope her begging EJ to be his mistress was recorded and ready for public consumption. (And yes, I get that Sami is no saint. Shouldn’t throw stones…blah, blah, blah)

“Oh, I was just absolutely, livid ” with the near slap heard ’round the world

once you think she’s adulted up… a woman

she childlikes… and her spoiled bratty little antics… just get the best of you doesn’t she?

Tuesday Ep: when she goes on a little rant… a little rage…. taking out her frantic histrionics on Eve.

Oh, I just about had it

———–

I will cement and applaud at the end of that ep…. just how GOOD Casey Moss’ JJ was with Kassie DePaiva’ Eve. sterling, above board… magic stuff

that being said :

Oye! doesn’t Melissa Reeves’ Jennifer get older the more she has to fret, angst herself, hand ringed out…

LOL… seeing her vascilate betwixt her childrens drama and propping herself bubbly I can do this in love making love with Daniel

Yikes!

anyway…. to watch the shows…. steer toward… and ultimately… see the Horton worthy ascend : at the expense of, quality top draw acting skills of the like, Theresa, Eve, Kristen, Anne, The DiMera… heck, now throw in Sami. just gets to me…

the payoffs (thank god for all the good actors : sans Daniel and Jenn… and she’d better buck up, Abs) I guess are all we get…. as Jennifer Horton and Daniel will judge for the rest of the world.

it just rankles me again… that Daniel the superhero and magic hands… does it again… saves John Black from death

hail hail… the dullest couple in all of daytime and DOOL history

blech!

I love to rant about these two

ie: Abs, slaps Eve at Horton Square

oh please, oh, please

where is Mary Beth Evans’ Kayla…. to take over the hospital from Daniel

where is Judy Evans’ Adrienne, to HELP distract from tired Jennifer

I have only just started to watch DOOL with a more concentrated interest because of Jen Lilley being in the cast as Theresa. I always liked her as Maxie when she subbed for KiSt when she was out on sick leave. Seeing her sink her teeth into this role that is a complete 180 has been quite satisfying. That said, there is very little that I’ve seen so far that hasn’t been intriguing or engaging. The current saga with AS’s Sami and LK’s Kate setting up and then destroying EJ, Abigail and Stefano has been simply delicious for the “take no prisoners” MO these two women employ. Kudos to the writers for penning story whose fallout will reverberate and then bleed into other stories on the canvas for months to come. Kudos to the actors for leaving everything out on the table, no holds barred. Their performances have given me some very good reasons to tune in and spend an hour in Salem every day.

Great work done by all the actors in this story; Allison deserves an Emmy for being able to spew that hypocritical crap out of Sami’s mouth without laughing out loud at the insanity. Sure Abby had sex with Sami’s man but the nerve of Salem’s biggest WHORE, Samatha Gene, calling any woman a whore, never mind one who has only had two lovers in her 26 years is a JOKE. Sami the slut had Lucas, Rafe and EJ moving in and out of her in a span of a few weeks because her whorish behind could not decide which man she “loved.”

EJ is an idiot for ever being with Sami again after she SHOT HIM IN THE HEAD and left him to die as she strolled right back to her house and screwed Rafe. She did not care that the father of two of her kids was dying at her hand. This worthless woman has zero room to talk about anyone’s morals. She is trifling, pathetic and a twisted gold digger. She whored herself out to EJ for his millions because she sure as HELL doesn’t love him. She married him to get her hands on his company; now that is a WHORE move if I ever saw one.

These two, EJ and Sami, are the most dysfunctional disgusting Soap pairing ever; they have done more evil to each other than anyone else. And please, the comparison to Luke and Laura is a joke; Luke and Laura was bad enough but they were nowhere as disgusting as the double rape, many attempts are murdering, child stealing, hiding duo. What else is left for EJ or Samil to do to each other? Actually succeed in finally ending each other’s lives? If EJ loved Sami as much as he claimed he would not have sat back and enjoy her getting raped daily by faux Rafe. What man that loves a woman happily place a stranger in her bed??? EJ nor Sami knows what love is; the writing for Ejami proves only a person willing to deny over 50 percent of the writing and burying the head in the sand will buy the so called “Epic” love. I was an Ejami fan but the shooting in the head killed my love for them and EJ having faux Rafe rape Sami daily ut the nail in the coffin.

Bottom line; AS and JS are good actors and have great chemistry but the writing IMO was screwed up from the get for any real love story for their characters. Sure they have a fan base but just as many are disgusted by the pairing. Thank goodness both actors are gone and hopefully to better.

Matthew Ashford and Melissa Reeves Talk Return to DAYS for Doug’s Funeral, Susan Seaforth Hayes, and Their Enduring Friendship

Last week, Days of our Lives celebrated the taping of their 15,000th episode which is tentatively scheduled to air on December 3rd. The story will feature emotional and heart-tugging scenes of Doug Williams funeral and honor his portrayer, the beloved Bill Hayes, who passed away on January 12th at the age of 98.

While the actors, producers, and crew took a lunch time break to pose for some pictures and speak with the press, they knew they would have to get back to taping the funeral, which was going to make it a tough day, but also cathartic for all who loved Bill Hayes.

Several returns have thus far been announced including; Melissa Reeves reprising her signature role of Jennifer Horton (a part she first played in 1985), and Matthew Ashford as Jack Deveraux. Reeves had last appeared on the show back in 2021, and she was replaced by Emmy-winner Cady McClain in her absence when Jennifer was in storylines. In real-life, Melissa had moved full-time to Tennessee along with her husband, Scott Reeves (ex-DAYS, GH, Y&R). Now, and as previously reported, Reeves will first appear back on DAYS for the Thanksgiving episodes with the Hortons.

Michael Fairman TV caught up with Matt and Melissa during the 15,000th episode celebration to get their take on: being back for these special episodes, how it has been working with and watching Susan Seaforth Hayes portray Julie’s grief over losing Doug, and how they have supported each other through the years. Check out what they shared below.

Melissa, you are back on the set of Days of our Lives for this very emotional and special moment in the series history. How does it feel?

MELISSA: Oh, my goodness. I am honored. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else but to be here for Bill. He was like my real-life dance partner. He taught me how to ballroom dance. And to be here for Susan, of course, who’s just been our sweet hero this whole week. We’re just following her lead. She’s just been this incredibly strong example for us in the midst of this trial and season of her life. She is like just lifting us all up with her. It’s been incredible.

I was at Bill Hayes memorial service which was truly incredible and I know at the time you were in Tennessee. It was moving and celebratory of his life, all at the same time.

MELISSA: That’s all I have heard. I have to watch it on You Tube. They said it was just a real celebration of his life and I love that.

Photo: JPI

This must be difficult for Susan Seaforth Hayes depicting the death of Doug, when she is still grieving the loss of her beloved husband. (Susan pictured above with the returning Stephen Schnetzer who plays her on-screen brother, Steve Olson).

MELISSA: I’m sure Susan has those moments at home by herself, but she’s so good at being a leader and leading all of us. We’re following her, you know, and she’s like, “This is how I want to feel today.” And we’re just going along with her, you know? It’s so sweet.

Photo: JPI

How is it to see Matt Ashford again live and in-person?

MELISSA: You know, Matt and I can go years without talking, or seeing each other, and then the minute we see each other we’re chatting away.

MATT: Melissa was out on set doing a scene yesterday on the phone talking to a stage manager; as she was telling some really tough news on the phone. I’m like crying in the background, literally, I’m off-stage crying.

MELISSA: And then we get like back into normal life, and we’re like, okay, “What’s happening? What’s happening with this … or what’s happening with that?”

I had read, Melissa, that you were in touch with Matt about if there night be a possibility for you to reprise your role as Jennifer for these special episodes?

MELISSA: Yes. Well, Matt was like, “Hey! Would you want to come back? “And I was like, “Matt, you know, I would always come back. ”

MATT:  Every time I come here to Days of our Lives, they ask, “Where’s Missy? How’s Missy?” Everybody backstage says, “I miss her.” All of the crew is asking about her and saying, “It would be nice to see Missy. Nothing wrong with you Matt, but …”  They said, “Where is she?” I said, “She wants to come!”

Photo: JPI

There are some beautiful photos of Missy and Bill and Susan thorough the years that I found. It just reminded me of just the deep and entrenched history we all have had with the show, personally and professionally.

MATT: Missy is roughly the age where Francis Reid (ex-Alice Horton) was when she started the show, which is just crazy.

Photo: JPI

I’ve always said Missy was going to be the next generation Alice. Do you feel that Jennifer is the heir apparent matriarch of the Horton family?

MELISSA: Yes. I mean, this has been greatest blessing of my life, and that would be great. I told Ken Corday (executive producer, Days of our Lives) when I was 17 that this show would be my life. Ken always told me, “This is your home,” and I’ve always felt like that.

How have gotten through the scenes watching Susan Seaforth Hayes as Julie go through the loss of Doug?

MATT: Susan is bringing her best performance life for her and Bill. I mean, she’s a showbiz baby. She always has been one hundred percent, and she’s doing it for him, and this is who they’ve always been. So, you’re seeing this amazing performance colored by her life. She has her private life as Susan, but she has enough plugged into Julie that she’s done amazing work. The director, producers and writers are giving her room to live in these moments and it’s quite wonderful.

Photo: JPI

Have you already broken down in tears during the taping?

MELISSA: Yesterday, but today’s taping of the actual funeral I think they want us to try and be just more celebratory.

MATT: I mean, it is a beautiful long life for Bill Hayes and his character of Doug Williams, and so it will be about that. Then, you get a bunch of us together in the church pews, and there’s going to be hijinks.

MELISSA: We all have been through the waves of grief. You have that awful cry and then all of a sudden you feel okay.  There are those family situations we are portraying where you’re like, “What do we do? What do we do now? You know, no one knows what to do. But, it’s so sweet. I’m looking forward to seeing how the scenes all turn out.

So, are you glad that Matt and Melissa are back for the 15K episode and Doug’s funeral? From what we can tell, it’s going to be quite an emotional journey for Days of our Lives fans, and especially the performance of Susan Seaforth Hayes,

Ron Carlivati Talks on Decision to Make Days of our Lives 15000th Episode About Doug’s Funeral, and Previews Chances for WGA Award

This week, Days of our Lives celebrated the taping of their 15,000th episode. In of it itself, that is an incredible accomplishment for the long-running soap opera currently streaming on Peacock.

However, this on set gathering was a bit different. Though the show is celebrating their achievement, they are also in the middle of taping scenes surrounding the death and the funeral of Doug Williams, played by the late Bill Hayes, who passed away on January 12th of this year at the age of 98.

As previously revealed many longtime favorites are back to honor Bill and the character of Doug including: Gloria Loring (Liz), Melissa Reeves (Jennifer), Matthew Ashford (Jack), Maree Cheatham (Marie), Victoria Konefal (Ciara) and Stephen Schnetzer (Steve) to name but a few.

Michael Fairman TV was in attendance and spoke with Days of our Lives head writer, Ron Carlivati to gain some insight into how the 15,000 episode was crafted and the decision to honor the character of Doug Williams and Bill Hayes as its epicenter. In addition, Ron weighed-in on this Sunday’s April 14th WGA (Writers Guild of America) Awards, where he and his writing team are facing off with General Hospital for the daytime drama prize. Here’s what Ron shared below.

Was this your idea to make the 15,000th episode centered around Doug’s funeral and passing?

RON: It was. When you’re looking at it, and laying out the calendar for the whole year and you see 15,000 is coming up, we’re like, “What are we going to do?” And then, we got the news that Bill had passed away and something kind of clicked. I was like, “We should honor Doug on that show.” So then, we started to kind of build around that … when does he pass away? How does he pass away? Who could come back? You know, it’s a lot.  I’m very pleased with the returns that we got as there’s so much that you could do. We wanted everybody we could get. So, we put together a wish list and Janet Drucker (co-executive producer, Days of our Lives) made it happen.

Photo: JPI

You have Melissa Reeves back as Jennifer, when the role was last played by Cady McClain. What has it meant to have Missy back for these shows?

RON: It was so nice to see Missy Reeves. I think Cady has done such a good job, but on the 15,000th episode to see Missy as Jennifer, it’s a big deal. So having her was great, and overall, the milestone was a big undertaking, because you want to live up to it. You want the 15,000th episode to be good. Now, it has a lot of real emotion that you’re playing. because for the cast and the crew they’re honoring Bill Hayes just as much as we’re honoring Doug Williams.

Photo: JPI

Was it hard for you and the team to write this episode?

RON: Yes. I’ll tell you why it was hard to write.  When I wrote, for example, Asa’s (Phillip Carey) death on One Life to Live or Victor’s (John Aniston) on DAYS, Asa is a different type of character. Like, you could have characters going, “Oh! I’m glad he is dead.” You could have different points of view, but with Doug, you’re not having that. Every person loves this man. No one had a bad relationship with him. So, you’re challenge as a writer is how do you make it that not everybody’s saying the same thing and doing the same thing. And so, we tried to find ways to make the episode about all the familial relationships and yet, how do you make it about Doug and yet broaden the scope.

Photo: JPI

I had spoken to Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie), a week after Bill’s memorial, for an interview. She said that she felt very fortunate that you did include her on discussions of how you would tackle Doug’s passing. How did that conversation go?

RON: First, I attended Bill’s funeral, which was incredible. I said to so many people it was an emotional service, but it was hard to be sad at this. The guy had an incredible life and it was an incredible celebration. And so, you’re sitting there watching this knowing that you now have to write something similar. And how do you write something that lives up to what you just witnessed? I wanted to talk to Susan to get her thoughts about, you know, how much do you want this to be about keeping Bill separate from Doug. How comfortable are you sharing your grief. She was incredible to talk to. It was a great chat.

You’re in the middle of taping these major scenes for the 15,000 episode to air in December. How do you think it’s going? Have you seen any of the scenes?

RON:  I haven’t seeing anything. I mean, we were still making changes to the script up till this morning!

Photo: JPI

The Writers Guild Awards are this Sunday, April 14th and once again this year there are two daytime drama nominees, General Hospital and Days of our Lives. How are you feeling about your chances this year?

RON: It is often just GH and us in the category. I’ve won three years in a row, so I’m kind of feeling like it’s their turn.

Photo: JPI

What episodes did you submit for contention? If I recall, they had to do with Victor’s memorial.

RON: The episodes we submitted were centered around Victor’s funeral. I think one has story with Vivian (Louise Sorel). We had some fun stuff, we had some emotional stuff at Victor’s death, and I am pretty sure that our submission was three episodes right around that time.

Did you make the decision to go with those episodes because there was a mix of humor and drama?

RON: I like to have some humor, but it was also the funeral, then there’s Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) giving birth, and then Vivian’s crashing the reading of the will. So, we had a lot of fun and it’s hard sometimes to pick three that tell a story, as opposed to submitting for the Daytime Emmys, where the writing team only submits two shows. So, we shall see how it goes on Sunday.
