DAYS Sami In Bed With EJ: "I Want Nick Fallon Gone!" – Watch the Video!

Courtesy/NBC

Courtesy/NBC

On yesterday’s episode of Days of our Lives, viewers were introduced to Vargas, the prison inmate with a grudge and perhaps a past with Nick Fallon (Blake Berris)!  Meanwhile, Nick reveals to Will (Chandler Massey)he set him up, and he hates him because he is gay.

However, the topper occurred during a steamy sexual encounter between Sami (Alison Sweeney) and EJ when Sami coos to EJ: “I want Nick Fallon Gone.”  That is quickly followed up by, “So now he has to go!”

Plotting is quite the aphrodisiac for EJAmi! So now just how far will Sami and EJ go to protect Will and eliminate Nick from everyone’s life?  Do you when  Sami and EJ can be naughty?  What do you think will come to light between Vargas and Nick?  Do you think murder is the next step to ridding Nick, or do you think there is another way to deal with him?   Watch the clip after the jump and weigh-in!

I am just so excited we got our Ejami and who knew GT could write them beyond my expectations? Have a feeling Psycho Nick will be knocked off and a *Who-Dun-It* will follow….

Those EJ & Sami scheming in bed/sex scenes were some of the hottest ones I have ever seen. Loved how turned on they were getting while they were plotting Nick’s demise. LOL. Only EJami!!

I know I needed a cold shower after watching those scenes– it is so great to see those two characters be themselves and enjoy being who and what they are.

I totally agree!! Love them together plotting and attacking each other; a true match made in heaven!

They were so HOT! They were so sparkly together and so in love. Bonnie and Clyde here they come! Love EJAMI 🙂

i f they are going the route for nick to get killed it will definitely be vargas & not ej – vargas is a character with no ties to salem & they can easily get rid of the character

I adore this steamy, scheming relationship known as Ejami……Bravo!

EJ and Sami are steamy, schemy and so much fun! 😀

Days is sure getting better and better. Hope it keeps up.

Agreed!

Plotting is quite the aphrodisiac for EJAmi!
Oh, yes it is! And lucky for us! Yesterday’s show was smoking hot!

So now just how far will Sami and EJ go to protect Will and eliminate Nick from everyone’s life?
I think Sami and Ej will do anything, even enlist Stefano’s resources to take Nick down.

Do you when Sami and EJ can be naughty?
LOVE it!

What do you think will come to light between Vargas and Nick?
I’d bet sex for protection was part of the deal between Nick and Vargas. In addition, I bet Vargas has something else on Nick which he will use to extort or threaten Nick. I can’t wait to see what Nick will do.

Do you think murder is the next step to ridding Nick, or do you think there is another way to deal with him?
I bet EJ and Sami will come up with a much more clever way to get rid of Nick rather than resort to murder. They’re great scheming together!

Have I said recently how much I like the umbrella story? Days is good again! EJ and Sami are finally together, Blake Berris is a terrific bad guy, and Chandler and Freddie are getting lots of screen time. 🙂

Nick can be redeemed. I hope Vargas will attempt to kill Nick but Will saves his life and it changes Nick to be a better person and accepts Will for who he is. They should become friends, and show Nick, Gabi, Will, and Sonny maybe playing a good game of cards, double dating ect, and learn that all it takes is loving and understanding to help them raise the baby together.

by the way they are like second cousins if im not mistaken. Will is the grandson of Bill Horton and Nick is the grandson of Marie Horton. Marie and Bill are brother and sister. You think being related theyd be closer but then my family arent even on speaking terms with a few of our cousins so i can see Nick and Will not having to be close 4…now.

I like this idea. Nick is certainly not the first Horton to have mental issues. His mother, Jessica, did too. And it would be great soap to see Will, who’s been giving a lot of power away lately to get it back by saving Nick. That would be some drama!

Love scheming HOT EJAMI and JS and AS have the best chemistry in daytime.I used to love Nick,,but no more.He is keeping WIll from his kid, cause he is gay.Nick is the villian here, and EJAMI are about to teach that boy a lesson!!LOVING EJAMI

I love how Days have finally written EJ/Sami.This is who they are…naughty/scheming and crazy sexy. They are not like any normal couple..they twisted and so UNIQUE. I think yesterday is 1 of the best-pillow talk ever on Daytime..it was so STEAMY!!!!!!! I was blushing watching it

totally! Sami can be her naughty scheming little self with EJ 🙂

Ditto!

I hope that Nick won’t be killed – Blake Berris is too good an actor to lose. He needs his comeuppance, though. So does Gabi, for that matter.

The scenes of EJ and Sami scheming were fantastic. I love that the show is having these two characters acknowledge that they get a charge out of each other’s capacity to go nuclear, yet had then pull each other back. Smart, sexy, steamy, scheming. That’s good soap.

Days is the best it has been in years. Kudos to everyone involved in the show for making it so enjoyable once more.

I really want Gabi to get hers! I wouldn’t want Nick killed off either because Blake is sooo good but hopefully they can both get what’s coming to them in other ways. Hopefully the writers figure out that and give us a big showdown! I’d like to see Will & Sonny raise the baby 🙂

Loved every minute of Ejami in bed. I think Will is going to reach a boiling point and will probably do something rash. I’m thinking Will will be the one to kill Nick. I would love a faction of the Horton family to stash Nick away still alive but everyone else thinks he’s dead.

EJami was SO FREAKING HOT yesterday!! They went a little dark at first but found the Grey together and I loved it. They are the IDEAL Scheme TEAM!!

I think Nick will still plague their family since they are letting him live, but that was probably the better choice for their soul’s sake. I think Karma will handle Nick in the form of Vargas and I think EJami has found their stride with each other and they will continue to burn it up on Days!

Naughty Sami is always HOT and FUN Sami! Ejami was setting the television on fire with those erotic scenes!!! Hottest sex scenes in the history of Daytime, hands down! Tremendous chemistry! It’s great to be back at DAYS!

Someone at DOOL finally gets who Sami and EJ really are. It is wonderful to see the two of them being themselves. Nick will not be “rubbed out” by EJami. Perhaps Vargas will try to murder Nick but EJami will find some other way to get rid of Nick.

I’m so happy to watch the great story that I always knew EJami would be come to life on my tv screen. Here’s to much more EJami for a long time.

I agree completely. Someone is finally doing justice to the rich history of the characters of EJ and Sami AND Ejami as a couple. Super couple for certain!

I love EJ and Sami plotting in bed! It was hot! Cooler heads prevailed & they came up with a plan… I can’t wait to see them execute it!

ejami is the one reason I never watch this show. Sami is brain dead. E has done some of the rottenest things to her ever on a soap. No days for me. or anyone I know that use to watch thiss show. between this garbage and getting rid of Jack.I don’t even bother to watch the spoliers.

Interesting…. So how exactly did you find yourself on a post about EJami if you stopped watching Days because of them and stopped reading spoilers? Obviously they interest you enough to comment on them and Days on a soap blog 😉

and yet you found the time to post on this blog about Ejami. Interesting.

Loved that scene. The true Sami is back and with EJ to make the perfect grey supercouple 🙂

Days itself has been rocking most of the time. Can’t wait to see where this story goes.

Ejami can bring their A game like no other fictional pairing I have ever seen.
It will be long time before daytime fans forget the expression on Ej’s face or the sultry sound of Sami’s voice when she whispered those words: “I want Nick Fallon gone.”

Damn those Ejami scenes were hot! I’m so impressed with Days right now. I never miss a day of it! Can’t wait to watch Nick get what’s coming to him.

EJami was on fire. It is such a delight to watch James Scott and Alison Sweeney. They are the best acting duo on daytime tv. It was nice for Sami to realize that as much as she wanted Nick gone, murder was not the solution. She also realized that requesting EJ to murder someone was going against what he has been trying to do, be a better man. I am on board with EJami’s plan to set Nick up, but I don’t think it will come to fruition. There will be other people after Nick. Vargas seems to be planning to deal with Nick as soon as he is released from prison. Will is probably going to hatch a plan to deal with Nick. My wild card is Kate. Will she cook up a batch of brownies? Days is getting good, but this “get rid of Nick” s/l shouldn’t drag out too long. Kudos to Blake Berris for making Nick the character to hate.

I really enjoyed the scenes between Sami and EJ…Umm…I’m still having a hard time putting into words how awesome that episode was! WOW!

Haha! You’re such an EJami 😛

I want Nick to continue pushing so Ejami have to take it to the next level. I want Ejami scheming while sexing it up in between!
I hope we actually get to see scenes of EJ and Sami trying to get Nick back into prison. I want to see it all- Sami breaking in, EJ erasing the info on Nick’s laptop, the action…etc

I’ve been dying for Sami and EJ’s fun bad sides to return!!

Nick has to go and who better to take him out!

I was fascinated by Ejami in those scenes. The actors played it flawlessly…it was sizzling hot, but the planning was effortless…just what I would expect from them. Nick will be lucky to survive this…although Blake is doing a terrific job…I can’t believe how much I hated the character in his conversation with Will yesterday. JMO, but Days is fantastic right now.

I feel a MAJOR “whodunit” coming with the suspects to be:Sami, EJ, Will, Sonny, Kate, Marlena, Vargas, Justin and Adrienne, this could rope in everyone in Salem!!!!!!!

Did Kate and Sami have some sort of a mind meld/switch? If I didn’t know better that was Kate in bed with EJ and Sami having coffee with Sonny?

The scheming and plotting that EJami were doing was awesome and the lovemaking was off the rails!!

Nick should be very afraid of Salem’s version of Bonnie & Clyde! EJami are not to be messed with and I think he overestimated his clout and underestimated this duo. Chance favors the prepared mind, and as smart as Nick is, as EJ told him, “he more stupid than he looks” and unfortunately, the heat and passion EJami exhibited yesterday gave them the time and motivation to go after him with both barrels locked and loaded!

Look out Nick! You’ve got some “Smooth Criminals” about to strike!

Hottest soap scenes I’ve seen in a long time. Ali and James still have their intoxicating chemistry. I think Sami and EJ will do whatever they have to do to make sure that Will’s daughter isn’t taken away from him. I expect it to be messy and soapy and delicious!

Days was off the charts yesterday The Ejami scenes were some of hottest scenes I ever seen on a soap I certainly dont think they will murder Nick they came up with another plan & I am so looking forward to watching EJami become the grey couple they were always meant to be & I hope Days holds on to Blake Berris He is very talented an is doing a great job!

It’s getting so juicy!!! I am on the edge of my seat these days! So entertaining and delicious! LOVING IT!!! I needed a drink after the episode just to calm myself down from all the amazingness.

Sami “using” EJ for his power to get rid of people, and EJ getting off on it was off the charts good. Blake Berris is also doing such great work. Say what you will about the character but the actor is doing phenomenal. And in terms of character involvement, this storyline is bringing in just about every character in Salem. So so great!

I’m spoiler free so I had no idea these twists would happen. I hope it was as exciting for people who read spoilers as it was for me.

any chance we can see Fr. Eric and Nicole take a round? Waiting ….. 😀

I love how EJAMI are being able to be themselves again! The show just keeps getting better!

Loving EJami, Nick needs to go ASAP!

Thanks Michael!! Those EJ and Sami scenes were mad HOT!! Ali and James did a fantastic job, and I so loved seeing EJami scheming together to bring down Nick. I’m looking forward to the rest of the story.

Loved those scenes! Scheming EJami are the best! It makes Days worth watching. They are finally being themselves, truly themselves, for the first time with a partner. I want to see EJ and Sami figure out a way to take Nick down without taking him out. That would be too easy, and I don’t want that as a dark cloud hanging over their heads with the possibility of being caught. It would be nice to see what Vargas has in store for him too. Either way, bigoted Nick needs to shut his trap. Tormenting sounds like a good idea. 😉

Seriously fantastic scenes with Ejami yesterday! I love that they are being their true grey selves, but finally they are doing it together, the way it should have been all along! And I love that this storyline is incorporating do many characters. Finally, Days is made of win!

I think that this is the first time Sami feels free to be who she is and not have to hide a facet of her personality and that has to be the greatest aphrodisiac on the planet.

EJ and Sami are schemers so seeing them together, scheming and making love was something I always thought would and should happen… but I never imagined it would be THAT HOT! Wow! Over two episodes too? I swear these writers either want to kill me or have me unproductive in the real world. I think with those two working together, Salem better watch out.
This whole story arc had been a treat to watch and I cannot wait to see if someone takes down Nick for good.

Sami took a long time to say no to murder! Love EJami!!!!

Sami still does say no to murder…

Love it love it love it. This soap has become oodles of fun again!
I’ve been waiting for ejami for 6 long years, and they have completely outdone my expectations! I love how EJ completely adores his Samantha when she’s scheming. Sami has finally come into her own….

Ejami plotting in bed together was HOT!

What a HOT scene!!

Wow. I wasn’t aware it could get that hot and sizzling during daytime television. EJ and Sami’s scheming and plotting in bed, wow. The spice that they’ve brought to the show has made some of the other, slightly lackluster, plot points even a little more interesting to watch. Kudos to Days and their exciting, enticing storylines. Go DOOL and smart move with the EJ and Sami coupling. Even though I wasn’t initially a believer, I am an “EJami” convert — they are definitely a pair made for each other.

Sex – Love – murder- plotting – EJAMI HOTNESS !!! The chemistry between those two off the charts Loving Days so much right now !!.

Love, love, loving Ejami! Rather surprised, yet elated that the writing is bringing this couple together even better than I imagined… And trust me, as many Ejami fans know, I have been imagining this pairing for YEARS and YEARS ’cause teasing was all we ever really got!

Hot!! hot! love that the really SGB is back!

Excited, intrigued,,,,,it was sexy, hot, passionate, wonderful beyond all expectations! More of that EJami PLEASE!!!

It was hot amazing sexy! The scheming is who they are and it works its real! They are made for each other! Very 50 shades!

EJami plotting against someone in between hot romps is how I always imagined these characters acting true to themselves while together. James & Alison have one of the best current chemistry there is in daytime & I’m SO glad Days finally managed to channel & use it properly.

As to how far they’ll go to get Nick out of everybody’s lives, they’ve concocted a good set up plan but now it’s matter of whether or not things will go according to said plan. Vargas coming after Nick might throw a wrench into things. I don’t know if it’s truly setting things up for a whodunnit because I feel like the writers will try to use Nick’s backstory of what happened to him in prison to try & redeem the character eventually so that tells me that they are invested into keeping him around. It’s great to not be able to predict what will happen exactly. I haven’t been able to say that about this soap for a very long time.

It’s great seeing EJ & Sami being able to be bad together instead of against each other. That’s how I’ve always wanted it to be. So kudos Days for delievering on that note!

Great story telling lately. Love how the Wabi baby story is pulling so many characters into one story…and lots of strong characters at that…we have Will, Gabi, and Nick…then Sonny, EJ, Sami, Lucas, Rafe, and Kate. Soon Stefano will probably be involved. Then there’s Hope and Vargas, and Eric.

Love it, just love it! And steamy-Ejami. Hot!

It’s funny too because I hated this babyplot and yet it ended up getting me the most erotic love scenes. YES LOVE. Sami is finally able to be herself and EJ earlier with his sister Kristen was once again contemplating how he could get rid of this ‘nobody’ but not lose Sami only for his love to tell him -‘did you really mean it when you said you would do anything for me and then POW he gets not only the go ahead but the pull that has always connected them was reinforced and consummated over and over again. I am glad they decided on the given course. I like that they are grey together.

The EJ/Sami scenes were swoon worthy. I thought my flat screen was going to melt!

I fear Nick found himself in a very unpleasant situation in prison, and that’s why he’s going over the deep end about Will and Sonny. I loved the sweet nerdy Nick, but Blake is really rocking homophobic Nick. That young man can act!!!

I absolutely love Ejami ! Their hot bedroom scene was phenomenal and plotting to make Nick Fallon gone was inspired! Ali and James really are bringing their A game to EJ and Sami’s relationship! Days is so good, again, that I can’t wait until the next episode! Good job writers, actors and producers!

This week’s episodes far exceeded my expectations. This is a couple that holds, my attention, keeps me tuning in and are just a joy to watch. THIS is what got me addicted to daytime to begin with. I can’t wait to see what happens next. Ali Sweeney and James Scott are magical together.

Matthew Ashford and Melissa Reeves Talk Return to DAYS for Doug’s Funeral, Susan Seaforth Hayes, and Their Enduring Friendship

Last week, Days of our Lives celebrated the taping of their 15,000th episode which is tentatively scheduled to air on December 3rd. The story will feature emotional and heart-tugging scenes of Doug Williams funeral and honor his portrayer, the beloved Bill Hayes, who passed away on January 12th at the age of 98.

While the actors, producers, and crew took a lunch time break to pose for some pictures and speak with the press, they knew they would have to get back to taping the funeral, which was going to make it a tough day, but also cathartic for all who loved Bill Hayes.

Several returns have thus far been announced including; Melissa Reeves reprising her signature role of Jennifer Horton (a part she first played in 1985), and Matthew Ashford as Jack Deveraux. Reeves had last appeared on the show back in 2021, and she was replaced by Emmy-winner Cady McClain in her absence when Jennifer was in storylines. In real-life, Melissa had moved full-time to Tennessee along with her husband, Scott Reeves (ex-DAYS, GH, Y&R). Now, and as previously reported, Reeves will first appear back on DAYS for the Thanksgiving episodes with the Hortons.

Photo: JPI

Michael Fairman TV caught up with Matt and Melissa during the 15,000th episode celebration to get their take on: being back for these special episodes, how it has been working with and watching Susan Seaforth Hayes portray Julie’s grief over losing Doug, and how they have supported each other through the years. Check out what they shared below.

Melissa, you are back on the set of Days of our Lives for this very emotional and special moment in the series history. How does it feel?

MELISSA: Oh, my goodness. I am honored. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else but to be here for Bill. He was like my real-life dance partner. He taught me how to ballroom dance. And to be here for Susan, of course, who’s just been our sweet hero this whole week. We’re just following her lead. She’s just been this incredibly strong example for us in the midst of this trial and season of her life. She is like just lifting us all up with her. It’s been incredible.

I was at Bill Hayes memorial service which was truly incredible and I know at the time you were in Tennessee. It was moving and celebratory of his life, all at the same time.

MELISSA: That’s all I have heard. I have to watch it on You Tube. They said it was just a real celebration of his life and I love that.

Photo: JPI

This must be difficult for Susan Seaforth Hayes depicting the death of Doug, when she is still grieving the loss of her beloved husband. (Susan pictured above with the returning Stephen Schnetzer who plays her on-screen brother, Steve Olson).

MELISSA: I’m sure Susan has those moments at home by herself, but she’s so good at being a leader and leading all of us. We’re following her, you know, and she’s like, “This is how I want to feel today.” And we’re just going along with her, you know? It’s so sweet.

Photo: JPI

How is it to see Matt Ashford again live and in-person?

MELISSA: You know, Matt and I can go years without talking, or seeing each other, and then the minute we see each other we’re chatting away.

MATT: Melissa was out on set doing a scene yesterday on the phone talking to a stage manager; as she was telling some really tough news on the phone. I’m like crying in the background, literally, I’m off-stage crying.

MELISSA: And then we get like back into normal life, and we’re like, okay, “What’s happening? What’s happening with this … or what’s happening with that?”

I had read, Melissa, that you were in touch with Matt about if there night be a possibility for you to reprise your role as Jennifer for these special episodes?

MELISSA: Yes. Well, Matt was like, “Hey! Would you want to come back? “And I was like, “Matt, you know, I would always come back. ”

MATT:  Every time I come here to Days of our Lives, they ask, “Where’s Missy? How’s Missy?” Everybody backstage says, “I miss her.” All of the crew is asking about her and saying, “It would be nice to see Missy. Nothing wrong with you Matt, but …”  They said, “Where is she?” I said, “She wants to come!”

Photo: JPI

There are some beautiful photos of Missy and Bill and Susan thorough the years that I found. It just reminded me of just the deep and entrenched history we all have had with the show, personally and professionally.

MATT: Missy is roughly the age where Francis Reid (ex-Alice Horton) was when she started the show, which is just crazy.

Photo: JPI

I’ve always said Missy was going to be the next generation Alice. Do you feel that Jennifer is the heir apparent matriarch of the Horton family?

MELISSA: Yes. I mean, this has been greatest blessing of my life, and that would be great. I told Ken Corday (executive producer, Days of our Lives) when I was 17 that this show would be my life. Ken always told me, “This is your home,” and I’ve always felt like that.

How have gotten through the scenes watching Susan Seaforth Hayes as Julie go through the loss of Doug?

MATT: Susan is bringing her best performance life for her and Bill. I mean, she’s a showbiz baby. She always has been one hundred percent, and she’s doing it for him, and this is who they’ve always been. So, you’re seeing this amazing performance colored by her life. She has her private life as Susan, but she has enough plugged into Julie that she’s done amazing work. The director, producers and writers are giving her room to live in these moments and it’s quite wonderful.

Photo: JPI

Have you already broken down in tears during the taping?

MELISSA: Yesterday, but today’s taping of the actual funeral I think they want us to try and be just more celebratory.

MATT: I mean, it is a beautiful long life for Bill Hayes and his character of Doug Williams, and so it will be about that. Then, you get a bunch of us together in the church pews, and there’s going to be hijinks.

MELISSA: We all have been through the waves of grief. You have that awful cry and then all of a sudden you feel okay.  There are those family situations we are portraying where you’re like, “What do we do? What do we do now? You know, no one knows what to do. But, it’s so sweet. I’m looking forward to seeing how the scenes all turn out.

So, are you glad that Matt and Melissa are back for the 15K episode and Doug’s funeral? From what we can tell, it’s going to be quite an emotional journey for Days of our Lives fans, and especially the performance of Susan Seaforth Hayes,

Ron Carlivati Talks on Decision to Make Days of our Lives 15000th Episode About Doug’s Funeral, and Previews Chances for WGA Award

This week, Days of our Lives celebrated the taping of their 15,000th episode. In of it itself, that is an incredible accomplishment for the long-running soap opera currently streaming on Peacock.

However, this on set gathering was a bit different. Though the show is celebrating their achievement, they are also in the middle of taping scenes surrounding the death and the funeral of Doug Williams, played by the late Bill Hayes, who passed away on January 12th of this year at the age of 98.

As previously revealed many longtime favorites are back to honor Bill and the character of Doug including: Gloria Loring (Liz), Melissa Reeves (Jennifer), Matthew Ashford (Jack), Maree Cheatham (Marie), Victoria Konefal (Ciara) and Stephen Schnetzer (Steve) to name but a few.

Photo: JPI

Michael Fairman TV was in attendance and spoke with Days of our Lives head writer, Ron Carlivati to gain some insight into how the 15,000 episode was crafted and the decision to honor the character of Doug Williams and Bill Hayes as its epicenter. In addition, Ron weighed-in on this Sunday’s April 14th WGA (Writers Guild of America) Awards, where he and his writing team are facing off with General Hospital for the daytime drama prize. Here’s what Ron shared below.

Was this your idea to make the 15,000th episode centered around Doug’s funeral and passing?

RON: It was. When you’re looking at it, and laying out the calendar for the whole year and you see 15,000 is coming up, we’re like, “What are we going to do?” And then, we got the news that Bill had passed away and something kind of clicked. I was like, “We should honor Doug on that show.” So then, we started to kind of build around that … when does he pass away? How does he pass away? Who could come back? You know, it’s a lot.  I’m very pleased with the returns that we got as there’s so much that you could do. We wanted everybody we could get. So, we put together a wish list and Janet Drucker (co-executive producer, Days of our Lives) made it happen.

Photo: JPI

You have Melissa Reeves back as Jennifer, when the role was last played by Cady McClain. What has it meant to have Missy back for these shows?

RON: It was so nice to see Missy Reeves. I think Cady has done such a good job, but on the 15,000th episode to see Missy as Jennifer, it’s a big deal. So having her was great, and overall, the milestone was a big undertaking, because you want to live up to it. You want the 15,000th episode to be good. Now, it has a lot of real emotion that you’re playing. because for the cast and the crew they’re honoring Bill Hayes just as much as we’re honoring Doug Williams.

Photo: JPI

Was it hard for you and the team to write this episode?

RON: Yes. I’ll tell you why it was hard to write.  When I wrote, for example, Asa’s (Phillip Carey) death on One Life to Live or Victor’s (John Aniston) on DAYS, Asa is a different type of character. Like, you could have characters going, “Oh! I’m glad he is dead.” You could have different points of view, but with Doug, you’re not having that. Every person loves this man. No one had a bad relationship with him. So, you’re challenge as a writer is how do you make it that not everybody’s saying the same thing and doing the same thing. And so, we tried to find ways to make the episode about all the familial relationships and yet, how do you make it about Doug and yet broaden the scope.

Photo: JPI

I had spoken to Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie), a week after Bill’s memorial, for an interview. She said that she felt very fortunate that you did include her on discussions of how you would tackle Doug’s passing. How did that conversation go?

RON: First, I attended Bill’s funeral, which was incredible. I said to so many people it was an emotional service, but it was hard to be sad at this. The guy had an incredible life and it was an incredible celebration. And so, you’re sitting there watching this knowing that you now have to write something similar. And how do you write something that lives up to what you just witnessed? I wanted to talk to Susan to get her thoughts about, you know, how much do you want this to be about keeping Bill separate from Doug. How comfortable are you sharing your grief. She was incredible to talk to. It was a great chat.

You’re in the middle of taping these major scenes for the 15,000 episode to air in December. How do you think it’s going? Have you seen any of the scenes?

RON:  I haven’t seeing anything. I mean, we were still making changes to the script up till this morning!

Photo: JPI

The Writers Guild Awards are this Sunday, April 14th and once again this year there are two daytime drama nominees, General Hospital and Days of our Lives. How are you feeling about your chances this year?

RON: It is often just GH and us in the category. I’ve won three years in a row, so I’m kind of feeling like it’s their turn.

Photo: JPI

What episodes did you submit for contention? If I recall, they had to do with Victor’s memorial.

RON: The episodes we submitted were centered around Victor’s funeral. I think one has story with Vivian (Louise Sorel). We had some fun stuff, we had some emotional stuff at Victor’s death, and I am pretty sure that our submission was three episodes right around that time.

Did you make the decision to go with those episodes because there was a mix of humor and drama?

RON: I like to have some humor, but it was also the funeral, then there’s Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) giving birth, and then Vivian’s crashing the reading of the will. So, we had a lot of fun and it’s hard sometimes to pick three that tell a story, as opposed to submitting for the Daytime Emmys, where the writing team only submits two shows. So, we shall see how it goes on Sunday.
