Kate McKinnon once again cracks up her Saturday Night Live co-stars, and the audience, and herself when she appears  on last night’s episode as Deenie, somebody’s mom who is obsessed with her favorite soap opera, The Young and the Restless.

Deenie comes in during a segment of  Weekend Update to give a recap of what happened in Genoa City in 2015 and chats it up with Weekend Update anchor, Colin Jost.

However, Deenie has nicknames for all of the characters on Y&R  including: “Moustache Man”, “Perfect Skin”, “Sexpot”, “Dark Hair”, “Hottie”, “Skinny Minnie”, “Priss Pants”, “Big Boobs”, and “Military Doctor”.

Watch Kate as Deenie explaining what went down this year in Genoa City after the jump! Then, let us know which characters is Deenie referencing above?  Share your thoughts in the comment section below!

That is so hilarious. That is exactly how my Gran would describe her soaps. HaHa.

Kate McKinnon is a marvel! Her characters and impersonations are terrific. I’m still cracking up over her alien abductee character from a couple of weeks ago!

Right, Jamesj? Plus, it is so obvious and amusing to watch Colin Jost thoroughly enjoy himself watching the characters do the ridiculous. You could tell how sometimes, he tries very hard to control his mirth. He just soaks it all up. Last night we were watching old episodes;…. Jimmy Fallon doing Barry Gibb with Justin Timberlake, as Robin, gets me every time. I never tire watching these shows over and over again.

Thanks for your reply, CeeCee. You’re right about Colin Jost. It’s such fun to watch the show when the writing is good and the actors really get into character. Kate is adept, for sure. In the scene I referenced (talk show with alleged survivors of alien abductions), Kate was so good, host Ryan Gosling was cracking up. I also love those Timberlake episodes and much, much more…

SNL since near day one has spoofed the soaps..
Always have the granny as the watcher..
Always made fun of the love couples, Erica Kane was their prize for that ahaaa!
Comedians love making soaps look really over the top stupid LOL ..

SNL is about as old as GH …

George Carlin comedian; SNL’s first-ever host;
performed “Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television”

@ su0000, another SNL fan! Awesome! I definitely like your input as well! Lots of great memories from SNL.

You and CeeCee may be surprised to hear that I continue to use countless SNL catchphrases, some decades old, in part because I’m such a wild and crazy guy!

@su.
Thanks for the info. Speaking of George Carlin, he and my grandfather went to the same all-boys High School; Cardinal Hayes. He was always a very funny man, or so granpapa says.

That’s funny Ceecee, I was watching “The Best of Jimmy Fallon” and “The Ladies of SNL” yesterday also.

When you see Jimmy Fallon doing impressions you realize how talented he really is. I was amazed how he looked and sounded exactly like Adam Sandler and Gilbert Gottfried! And his Bee Gees impression even made his fellow Bee Gee Justin Timberlake almost bust out laughing. He got Justin to laugh when they did a Family Feud sketch recently.

James: SATURDAY NIGHT will never get old. All the characters are memorable and immortal…..and neither will Steve Martin’s catchphrase, get old. I try never to miss a show.
Blake: Timberlake and Fallon are a class and classic act. Those two are the funniest pair since Abbot and Costello. Have you ever seen Fallon do impressions of the gorgeous Jim Morrison? Or THE BOSS? How about Neil Young? My gosh….to die for. These skits never lose their flavor.

Well, James….isn’t that special?

That was the best! I loved watching Ryan Gosling lose it every time she was telling bits of her story.

Hi Chrystie!

I had to rewatch the skit after my last post, just to refresh my memory. This past weekend’s show (with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler as hosts) was terrific, in my opinion…

You would think an NBC show like SNL would have had her talk about Days instead.

That’s what I was just thinking.

S&L is actually about as old as Y&R!

So in Deenie’s cast of characters, who is who?
Mustache – Victor
Big Boobs – Ashley?
Military Dr – Stitch

I was wondering the same thing, lol. Couldnt tell who Big Boobs is…
at first I thought Nikki? And Perfect Skin, I thought of Abby until it
was obvious by the boathouse reference she meant Hilary.
But was funny overall.

Hilarious. Love it!

Not available in my area?? Canada? Where can I find this SNL skit?

Mark Consuelos Celebrates One-Year Anniversary as Co-Host of ‘Live’ Alongside Kelly Ripa

Today, April 17th marks a full-year since Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo, All My Children) took over the co-hosting duties of ‘Live” alongside his wife, and longtime co-host, Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley, All My Children).

Consuelos replaced Ryan Seacrest who are six seasons decided to be back on the west coast full-time. For Consuelos, now having the opportunity to work off of Ripa as co-hosts has been something of adjustment for him, but viewers have been eating it up.

Live with Kelly and Mark has remained the No. 1 entertainment talk show on television over the past year, growing 3% in average total viewers to 2.23M per episode.  It is also the most-watched daytime talk show in the last year in key demos of women 18-49 and women 25-54. All of this, since the real-life marrieds teamed-up.

Speaking with Deadline, Kelly Ripa shared why the two are gelling on-screen, “I do think that there is something very possibly relatable about our relationship. We have disagreements like a normal couple, and we’re not afraid to let them unfold on the air and in front of America, and I think people find a lot of themselves in that.”

Mark weighed in how he has progressed as a host, and what he could improve at, sharing, “I’d like to get better at my interviewing skills. I’d like to get better at reading a teleprompter…I think I’m getting better at throwing to commercial. The other day in the middle of the show as we go to commercial, my sign off was ‘See you guys around.’ I mean, the show wasn’t over. The most obvious thing to say would be, ‘We’ll be back right after this.’ But I just said, ‘See you around.’ So we went to commercial and one of the producers (goes) ‘What was that?’ I don’t know… So for the next few sign offs, as a joke, I’d say ‘See you around.’ We got a kick out of it.”

Meanwhile, Kelly has given huge props to Mark, “I find Mark utterly compelling, really interesting, super funny, and he’s bold in a way like nobody else. He says what’s on his mind. If he’s thinking it, he says it.  I’ve done this a long time and oftentimes people will adjust their natural personalities to pander to what they think the audience wants to hear, and Mark will tell people what he thinks, and he doesn’t care if it’s not a popular opinion. It gives him an edginess that I think is really missing in the landscape today. Everybody’s so afraid to say anything, and Mark is unafraid to say exactly what he’s thinking.”

In a statement, Debra O’Connell, President News Group and Networks, Disney Entertainment shared, We could not be more thrilled with how Mark has seamlessly joined the show family as permanent co-host. His undeniable charisma and his and Kelly’s natural chemistry are evident as they deliver the laughs and smiles to our viewers each morning. We are incredibly proud of how Live has continued to evolve and that the audience is responding so enthusiastically.”

So, do you think Mark Consuelos is the best co-host his wife Kelly Ripa has ever had on ‘Live’? How would you say he is doing as co-host after one full year on the job? Comment below.
