More new characters look to be heading to Salem in 2016, and NBC’s Days of our Lives! Word on Twitter directly from actress Alla Korot has the former Another World star revealing she is playing the role of Janet Bernard.

Korot, best known for her role as Jenna Norris on the defunct NBC soap Another World related:  “Heading over to @DaysofourLives shooting 1st episode on Jan4:)) look out for Janet Bernard!”

Back in 1990 AW cast Korot as the child of Felicia’s (Linda Dano) late friend, Gloria, and played the role for three years, during which Jenna had some very well-known suitors: Matt Cory (Matt Crane) and Dean Frame (Ricky Paull Goldin).  Alla was nominated for a Daytime Emmy back in 1991 for her performance.

Alla has also appeared on daytime’s All My Children and Soapnet’s GH: Night Shift.

So will Janice Bernard be stirring the pot for some of the good citizens of Salem? Excited to see Alla back on daytime? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!

I like Alla, loved her on AW. Just not down with all these new roles/characters.

i completly agree mo!
although the show is light years ahead in production values from the last regime, the descisions to completly overhaul the cast is way too extreme! we lost all of the gay characters , paul shows up once a month…. justin and adriennes promising story involving lucas and eve was haulted… belles returned in astory but instead of familiar faces like jason cook, the only and best shawn and jay kenneth as the only and best philip we get unrecognizable subs! wats the point?… jj , the best young actor on the show is never on anymore… eric and nicole , days new supercouple were dropped for some aussie newcomer and …
and now this aw alumn!
..with all the new faces on screen , days can find a new viewer… im out

I wonder if Alla (Janet Bernard) will end up being both Rafe and Gabriella’s mother.

I hope not. She is no where need old enough. And she’s not Hispanic.

@ Mo

Rafe and Gabriella’s mother does not have to be Hispanic. As for being no where old enough, there are actors on Daytime who have taken on the roles that are older than they are.

Is she young enough to play Abigail Deveraux?

Although I am glad to see any former AW alum back on daytime, not sure if I’m happy another newbie is coming to Salem. I am hoping she has a better story than stolen elephant statues and that her character lasts beyond a year, otherwise she will be just one in a long line of failed female characters that never caught on.

I’m a forever AMC fan who’s VERY glad to see AK and VI in new Days roles! They had delicious chemistry back in the day, so I’m hoping to see more of the same in Salem! 🙂

I truly hope what you’ve posted ; “…They had delicious chemistry ”

makes me giddy with anticipation

Alla Korot and Vincent Irizarry ! He is such a big deal

his premiere is in less than a month ( mid – January)

I really hope Michael is planning a big interview with VI for closer to January 18 so we can find out more about his Days character/storyline (all under wraps so far!) and what else he’s been up to since online AMC ended. I’m enjoying what I’ve seen of Days so far and believe VI can only make it better! 🙂

I’m fine with new character roles. If the show continues with the same original characters with the same boring story lines no one will watch. New characters bring intrigue and suspense as long as the story line is worthwhile.

Thinking I would have rather they kept Cassie DePaiva as Eve along with Justin and Adrienne on contract! Big mistake Days!

I agree with you, too many newbies. They fired Kassie, what a huge mistake. Judi Evans needs to be back on contract and Wally Kurth. Days needs to bring back Vivian Alamain and her side kick Ivan. I miss them so much.

No Vivian without Carly! I actually would rather Eve stay than anyone come on. I think the Eve/Justin/Adrienne/Lucas story had potential!

I agree…id rather watch those three and Will and Paige!!!

Yawn. I already fast forwarded through Thursday’s show til I decided to just turn it off altogether. btw: that new girl cop is the WORST actress ever! Make her go away.. at this rate, I may just go back to GH full time. The only three people I find interesting on Days are Billy Flynn, Mary Beth & Stephen. I’m even sick of K.Alfonso and her screeching and frown face all the time.

I know, we need a long break from Hope. Someone said she was on every day in November! That’s overkill. And after Bo died she was right back in a front burner storyline. Give us a break from Hope and give that airtime to Nicole and Kate!!!!

I just loved her more in the 80s & 90s — this *tough* hard Hope isn’t very attractive to watch. Bo softened her up a bit. Other people & I don’t mean new characters need more airtime for sure! Kate is on like once every 2 weeks now, if that.

It’s great seeing the actors from Another World coming back! Alla is a good actress so I’m hoping she’s not just one of the short term actors coming on since the show was bringing on a lot of six month characters.

Loved Alla on Another World, she and Ricky Paull Goldin were one of my favorite soap couples ever. I really hope Days has a solid storyline in place for her and doesn’t just have another character on to meander around without any real purpose.

I really wis Eve could stay and Justin and Adrienne on contract, but if they wanted to add someone new why not Brittany Underwood as Stephanie Johnson?

I agree they should of kept Eve. Brittany Underwood would be great to play Stephanie Johnson!

I think Alla is a great actress. Her publicity shot shows she has gotten more beautiful with age. I agree on the comments that we want Alla’s character to have a purpose and depth. I was a fan of AW back in the day. I forgot about her great chemistry with Ricky Paul. I am excited to see her and Vincent on the show. I hope Vincent’s character will be potential love interest for Jennifer and Alla will be an obstacle in the Brady/Theresa storyline.

For the comments being made about actors, there is a difference in not liking a character and dissing an actor. I know how much work these actors put into being on a show and making their character memorable. If everyone would put themselves in an actor’s place, there would not be any negative comments. Let’s be more supportive of our remaining shows, even if we do not agree with a storyline and most importantly, be respective to new actors.

Is Alla related to Enya? I guess “Only Time” will tell:

I love Alla Korot when she played Jenna Norris on Another World. can’t wait when she starts on Days Of Our Lives!
