Longtime soap vet Barry Jenner passed away on Monday at the age of 75 from of acute myeloid leukemia at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, his wife, actress Suzanne Hunt revealed to The Hollywoood Reporter.

Jenner started his career on NBC’s Somerset as Tony Cooper and Another World as Evan Webster in the 70’s.  In primetime soaps, he played Dr. Jerry Kenderson, who had an on-again, off-again love affair with Linda Gray’s Sue-Ellen Ewing, over three seasons of CBS’ Dallas.  Barry also played the former husband of Donna Mills’ Abby  named jeff Cunningham for several episodes of Knots Landing back in 1981.  He also appeared on Days of our Lives.

Jenner was well-known for his primetime roles on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine as Starfleet Admiral William Ross, and as Lieutenant Murtaugh for 18 episodes on the sitcom Family Matters, and appeared in countless primetime dramas and comedies over his career.

So, do you remember Barry for his roles on Another World, Somerset, Knots Landing or Dallas?  Share your condolences in the comment section below.

I loved to hate him as Tony Cooper on Somerset.

Didn’t know he was on soaps, I knew him from Star Trek DS9. He played the only friendly Admiral the franchise ever had!

RIP
Just watching these now. Sad.

Barry was not only a fine actor but an outstanding gentleman and public servant. Aside from his busy schedule in his acting roles he spent 21 years as a Los Angeles Police Reserve Officer. I had the good fortune to work with Barry on many police details. He treated people with respect and sincere kindness. My loss revolves around a fine actor, gentleman, police officer and a friend. Rest in peace my friend.

I remember him…one of my favorite Another World villains…as Evan Webster he had an affair with Olive Randolph and he plotted against Gwen Frame and tried to kill John Randolph but that backfired and Evan was killed instead!!! He was married to Susan Harney who played Alice no.2 on Another World after Jackie Courtney was fired…didnt he also play a cop on Family Matters or some other comedy….also, i remember him on those other serials as well…another sad passing of another soap great!!!

oops…overlooked it-‘Did i do that!’-lol…i see it says Family Matters

I remember him from Another World. Evan’s introduction made him look like Mr. Clean but viewers soon found out he was rotten to the core. Mr. Jenner played him to perfection. (Oh, for the good old days with quality writing and stellar acting!)

Thanks for confirming my recollection; I thought he had been married to Susan Harney (who was underrated as Alice, I always thought).

Sad to read of Mr. Jenner’s passing; he was a good bit older than I thought.

Susan Harney was the best Alice recast….she even looked like Jackie Courtney…she did a fine job!!!…Evan Webster and Sven Petersen(Roberts Blossoms) were AWs greatest villains along with the late great Beverly Mckensie as Iris and Christine Jones as Janice Frame!!!…the 70s were the best soap decade for quality writing and stellar acting on AW and many other soaps!!!

I remember Mr. Jenner as Jeff Cunningham on Knots Landing. Oh, how I loved, loved, loved Knots Landing!

Me too!!! I wish they would release more DVDs too!!

Remember him from Dallas and his numerous appearances on the $25,000 Pyramid.

Another beloved celebrity has passed away. Very sad. Rest In Peace, Barry Jenner. You will be truly missed.

Amen.

I wasn’t familiar with this actor’s work (although he looks familiar) but he had quite an impressive background and must have been a very respected actor. RIP.

I remembered him as Jeff on KL—it was so good when Abby turned the tables on him and took her children back after he took off with them.

I watched Dallas and Knots Landing, but don’t remember him.

I do…RIP Barry.

Thanks for sharing that

I remember him on DALLAS. RIP.

Was he any relation to Olympian Bruce Jenner?

wow….rip.

I remember him well. So young to go. Condolences to his wife and family.

I remember him from Somerset and Another World (which gives a clue as to my age) ~ always enjoyed him.

I remember him as Tony Cooper on “Somerset,” replacing Ernest Thompson. He and Fawne Harriman (Ginger Kurtz Cooper) made a lovely couple. Then, his marriage almost broke up over his affair with Victoria Paisley (Veleka Gray). I was a devoted fan of “Somerset” and regretted they cancelled it to make room for Harding Lemay’s AWFUL “Lovers and Friends.” (Although Tony, Ginger, and Joey Cooper were written off before the end of the series.)
