GENERAL HOSPITAL: Elizabeth Is Reunited With Her Son Jake In Tearjerker Episode!

Courtesy/ABC

In a tearjerker of an episode from ABC’s General Hospital, Monday’s broadcast featured so many gems and well-written scenes filled with heartfelt emotion and subtext, and delivered with exquisite performances from: Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth), Jonathan Jackson (Lucky), Tony Geary (Luke), Leslie Charleson (Monica), and Billy Miller (Jason AKA Jake).

The moment every GH fans was waiting for since last Friday’s cliffhanger had Lucky reuniting Elizabeth with her believed-to-be-dead son Jake (James Nigbor).  After first disbelieving Lucky that little Jake could be alive, Elizabeth finally came around, especially when little Jake walked through the door with Luke.  The moment when Elizabeth asked if she could hug the son she grieved for over the past five years was riveting.  Jake looked to Lucky to know if it was OK to hug his mom, and then Lucky says, “She gives really good ones.” Finally, Elizabeth got to hold her son in her arms.  It was simply a hankie-filled moment times ten!

In yet another beautifully played scene, an overcome Elizabeth takes a beat with Lucky outside of the house to try to pull herself together fearing this will all be ripped away from her.  She says, “I feel like I am going to wake up with an IV in my arm and this is all going to be a dream,” but Lucky reassures her that their son is home.  The chemistry between longtime scene partners Jackson and Herbst was still palpable throughout, and as strong as ever.

Even Elizabeth and Luke shared a very important scene with so many undercurrents of their history, where it appeared to be the last scene between between Becky and Tony.  Luke had a fantastic line of dialog when he said to Liz: “For such a tiny little thing … you have awesome resilience.”

Juxtaposed with all of this emotion was having Monica, played by the indomitable Leslie Charleson, back on the canvas sharing scenes with her on-screen son, Jason AKA Jake, although she has no idea that Jake is the boy she raised …  and was the all-time shining star of the Quartermaine Clan.  When Monica reminisced about Jason and her love for him, and her history with him to Jake, it was another lump in your throat, tug-at-your-heart moment, played endearingly by both Charleson and Miller.

And still later we come to the scenes between Jonathan Jackson and Tony Geary on the porch at Liz’s house, when Lucky admits he has demons too, that are keeping him running and not settling down.  Luke tells Lucky that he is not like him, that Lucky is facing his demons, where Luke didn’t.  Lucky says he is even scared to pass this darkness down to his sons.

Next, Luke told Lucky he loved him, and with tears in their eyes each of the men said they would be there for each other.  Luke related: “If this battle gets bloody and you get weary, let me know …  let me know, son … and I will be there (snaps his fingers) like that.”  To which Lucky replied:  “Maybe next time I’ll rescue you instead.”  To which Luke says profoundly, “You already have.”

As the episode came to a close, it was Elizabeth and little Jake getting to know each other, when who should arrive on the scene …. Jason! Now mom, bi0-dad, and son are all in the same room together.  What will Liz do next?

Kudos go to GH head scribe Ron Carlivati and his writing team for the script for Monday’s airshow.  So, what did you think of the moment when Elizabeth was reunited with her son Jake? What did you think of the Lucky and Liz scenes?  Monica and Jason (AKA Jake)?  Lucky and Luke?  How many hankies did you need for the episode?  Share your thoughts and comments below!

Today’s show was amazing! Liz and Luke’s goodbye scenes and Liz and her lil Jake. Becky was amazing! I felt her pain and uncertainty in those scenes.

this is final moment of Luke Spencer and his family finally going home after 37 years I will be miss that old goat I still have lot of memories of him over the years I came in 1981 or 82 when I saw Luke and Laura captured bad guys from ice princess with one and only Robert Scorpio as WSB agent after that Luke and Laura got married and took off somewhere in late 1982 then Robert Scorpio took over for next 10 years later oh, gosh, I feel like going cry by the end of spencer era … Thank you for everything, Anthony .. U r da man!!

I am like you. I have watched this since 1982 and I love it. I will also miss Luke but he needs to retire and enjoy the rest of his life.

aw thanks for the wonderful re-cap Jeffrey…Good morning, as i re-watch the pas week with the fabulous realistic actor he is JONATHAN JACKSON (his way of easily cries, tearing up etc, he is amazin, and the passion in his A+acting i just love this young man, and him huggin’talkin to this father luke i was all tears still am today on my day off!) and then seeing him with laura and with jake jr. & liz? I just love it. so much. LUKE IS yes lat 60s now.but not a OLD GOAT LOL i like to say he will return 1 day even if only 1x i m sure he will come back while GH is on. till then i will love the re-runs,on my dvr, i save and convert from dvr to dvd, love this past week and i am so happy JONATHAN JACKSON has returned! I will await his next return 1 day too as i am sure he will come back again later.

This was an episode that tore my heart out and reminded of what soaps can be! Rebecca Herbst brought an authentic understated performance and every emotion could be read in her expressive eyes! The history between Liz, Lucky and Luke was honoured and having the original actors, including little Jake added an extra depth to every scene. While no dialogue was needed amongst these master actors, the writers outdid themselves! I can’t wait to see the next scenes with the incomparable Billy Miller and hope that GH can keep on this course!

Your right Shannon, the writers outdid themselves OR I say they finally did what their supposed to do!

If they did what they were supposed to do they would have found a way to connect this plot point to Luke/Fluke.

If they really wanted to bring back the kid, I wouldn’t have bothered with Frank Smith and his daughter. I would of have Luke in therapy and while there, he begins having flashes about hitting little Jake. I would of have Luke realized his dark side Fluke, using his Helena connection faked the brain dead results and then switched the kid because Fluke wanted Luke to think he killed the child and be tormented by that idea, when it was Fluke who hit him. Then Fluke gives little Jake to Helena for safe keeping or maybe she handed him to Stravos so he could practice his freezing techniques

When Luke realizes the kid is still alive, he escapes the mental ward to track down Laura and then the two of them could go off on their little adventure trying to track down Lucky– they could have still ran into Holly and Ethan, in their search for Lucky. Lulu could have still have taken off with Dillon to look for her parents but instead of lying to Dante, she just flat out leaves because she is Spencer in chase of the the thrill. Dante could have still slept with Valerie after being drunk and ticked off at Lulu for taking off.

Then the Spencer clan finds Lucky in trouble with mob if you really want to throw Frank Smith in there and saves him. Then it is Luke who lets him know little Jake is alive and not Frank Smith because that made no sense, then the family go off to Cassadine Island to try to find the kid– Tony G and JJ can still have all those heart to heart moments, Tracy still could be fed up that Luke because he took off to find Lucky with Laura instead of her, thus breaking them up, and little Jake could still be alive for the Liz-Jason story.

This way the plot point would have been a nice bridge between the Luke/Fluke story and Tony’s exit whatever that might be– but as they told it, it was a contrived and flimsy story that produced great moments but didn’t really flow like a real soap opera story should do.

Agreed. I was doing that horrible ugly, can’t breath, sobbing during those scenes.

What am amazing job by Becky, Jonathan, and Tony. Just exquisite work by the actors. And I can’t rave enough about the script/dialogue writers. All these beautiful two people goodbye scenes they are writing for Luke/Tony with Lucky and Liz are so gorgeously laced with character history and actor history. I’m just blown away by it.

Although the whole another back from the dead thing grates at me. These scenes for Tony make it all worth it. This is what soap should be. 🙂

Nice read…. especially, the part…. “… reminded of what soaps can be! ”

it was simply (BRAVO! ) serial at it’s best…. the flow and continuity between stories… was not loud, not action packed…. weaved in and out of the featured storyboards.

#1. Luke, Lucky, Jake, and Liz
#2. Laura and Nikolas mixed it up… dang it… isn’t she lovely when pulled together
#3. Monica and “nuJason”. I marveled at Leslie Charleson

I like when Monica is telling “Jake Doe” as she went to the guest house… ” I picked that baby up… fell in love, and knew he was mine”

believe you me… there were several times I teared out

for all the lauding Rebecca Herbst deserves…

I really liked the ending scene as show faded…. when “Jake Doe” comes home… and walks in on Liz and Jake… as Jake looks at and turns…. started near bawling

it just seems to me… that we are on the threshold of the new supercouple,

Liz and Jason

If I may laud the Spencer Magic… between Luke and Lucky…. as Lucky is telling Luke he’s battling demons of his own : Luke replies; “it this battle gets bloody, and you get weary…”

Great post Shannon-

That episode was one for the ages!

Great job from Rebecca Herbst. I really felt for Liz today. Now all I want is for the character to come clean about Jason.

And Jonathan Jackson does it again wow. I loved those scenes with Luke on the porch. And also, it’s amazing how Lucky’s presence humanizes Luke. Tony Geary was at his best today.

Okay.. great episode.. but now lets talk about jail time for Cassadines… No one is talking about that… come on…. .lets go…

LOL. What’s the point talking about punishment for the Cassadines, Tim? They get away with everything…just like Sonny.

Well, the Cassadines operate under Greek law.
Moreover, I am more upset that the evil Dr O, kidnapper, torturer, and attempted murderess, has been made GH”s chief of staff.
It’s now time to right that wrong.

Lol, Harry. I’m not quite sure what Greek law is. But, the ancient Greeks introduced DEMOKRATIA to the world….a good thing, yes?
Good ole Dr. O. It’s an honest to goodness farce, is it not, Harry? Only on soapland !!! LOL.

Liz should just drive a stake into Helena’s black heart!

And, another through her own heart snd Nik’s. Liz is doing the same thing to Monica, Timmm. I am still reeling over Nik’s words to Lucky….”….Carly, the Quartermaine’s, all of them have just moved on. They have gotten over Jason’s death”. …or some such nonsense. One does not get over a loved one’s death. I wonder how Nik would feel if the roles were reversed.

Good point, Cee Cee. I love Lizzy but her recent actions make me sad.

Awesome episode. This is the GH that we all know and love. Characters we know and love. Family history. Emotional twists. Stakes. Jeopardy. The best scene was Luke and Liz. The two have really grown over the years. The chemistry between Liz and Lucky is palpable. How can we get Lucky back on the show? Loved the juxtaposition between Liz and Jake and Monica and Jason. I really, really, really hope they bring Jason back into the Q fold and not the Sonny orbit. So much to like about today’s episode. More of this, please.

I have been waiting for this so long. I cried through the 1 hour show. It was wonderful. I am so happy that Lucky is back for this. I love him on Nashville and I want to thank him for coming back for the end of Luck.

What an AMAZING episode. Brought tears to my eyes more than once. The scenes betwen TG, JJ, RH were beyond perfection. LC and BM were wonderful as “Monica” & “Jason”. Kudos to everyone involved. Can’t wait for the fallout!

The common thread to today’s show was Mothers & Sons…
Elizabeth coming to terms with the knowledge that little Jake
is really alive. Luke letting her know second chances are rare,
enjoy, be happy in the moment.. Luke and lucky on the porch..
PRICELESS. It was interesting to see Monica interact with Jake
/Jason, she seemed comfortable telling him about her son & who
he was..how much she’d loved him from the moment she held him
in her arms. I feel Jake’s personality leaning more towards being
like Jason Q, than JM aka…Stone Cold. We shall see in which
direction they take him… When Laura relayed the daily events to
Nik he didn’t seem too fazed, almost indifferent.. Until she says
it’s a shame Jason isn’t here to witness his sons return… Was
he just about to spill, when Lucky walks in…. These two need
to clear the air, but that’s not all… Is Nik completely innocent
in all this? Not by the way Lucky is eyeing him…

Well said, Fanny. Yes, the theme has been mothers reuniting with their sons
I thought the scenes between Luke and Lucky were sublime, bittersweet and emotionally powerful. I found Luke’s words to Lucky about facing the darkness to be very wise and right. And when he told his son.”God, I love you,” it was clear this was Tony Geary saying this to JJ. It’s the end of an era for sure.

@Harry… Anthony and Jonathan are phenomenal scene partners….
They move around one another with such ease and care, Love &
respect is so evident between them. I can’t tear myself away from
watching Luke & Lucky, the end is near & how bittersweet it feels.

Yes, Harry!

completely, agree… with you about the scene coming up between:

Laura, Lucky, and Nikolas

I hope NIkolas had nothing to do with Jake. and that it was Helena who did this all on her own.

I loved how Helena was telling Luke… ( 7/9/15) ep.

“The site of you brandishing a gun just doesn’t thrill me”

LOL… she goes on to tell Luke :

“Nikolas has finally picked up the gauntlet. my grandson, has exiled me to a remote life of solitude. stripped me of all power. I am so Proud. How much more Cassadine can he be? ”

fans are in an uproar enough with Nik taking over ELQ… so let it be that… business… how much will NIk be in hot water over knowing Jake is Jason? i hope it’s minimal… even tho I don’t care how Sam feels… she’s going way overboard… as she’s “fighting” for Michael because Jason did. blah blah blah

What a touching post, Fanny…makes me feel wistful and teary-eyed. I am always painfully thinking, what my baby would be like, had he lived.

I also noticed the aloofness on Nik’s part. Very disconcerting. And, it made me think the same thing. Was Nik really and truly unaware that his grandmother held little Jake captive? If Nik did know, it could not have been for long. His heart started to turn cold recently. The thirst for power and recognition does turn heads. As far as I am concerned, prince or not, Nik could not be more plebeian to me. “Nothing is so common than the wish to be remarkable.” Shakespeare.

I am interested to know and, more importantly, understand this new development. Where are the writers taking us?

As yourself, I so enjoyed the relaxed, cozy and unhurried conversation between Monica and Jake. I felt a pang (a good one)….such a credible, comforting scene!!

Lucky strikes me as a very conscientious, albeit tortured soul. He seems to be tormented by something or someone. Himself? Is he another melancholy Hamlet? Was he always so removed?

@CeeCee…Ma, Chere Chere CeeCee…
I am so very sorry for your loss…My most fervent wish
for you is happiness & peace dans ton coeur.

Lucky is good, fair and brave…I’m over simplifying him.
“We are shaped and fashioned by what we love” Voltaire.
Losing his loved ones literally and figuratively…started to
mold him into someone he no longer recognized. He
chose to leave PC behind in order to reconnect with himself.
As lucky explains to Nik, he doesn’t feel like he’s succeeded
in doing that yet…& the urge to leave again is overwhelming.
Nik and lucky were compelling to watch, each struggling with
their own demons…great match as brothers.

@Fanny.
Merci, mon amie. J’apprecie tes mots aimables.

I suppose that restlessness which has invaded Luke’s being for a lifetime, has been passed down to his son.
Nik is an enigma to me. Just as I thought I knew him, he throws me a curveball. His upbringing was no picnic, considering his DNA. You are so right. Each is fighting his own demon….sometimes, that battle is never won. Later, ma chere.

Wow! What an emotional episode of GH! Rebecca Herbst continues to shine and brought a nuanced but powerful performance when she came face-to-face with a son she thought had died 5 years ago.

I haven’t been this excited about the show in a very long time. As a longtime Liason fan, I’m so glad that Cartini have righted such a terrible wrong and returned little Jake into the loving arms of his beautiful mother.

This episode was amazing! When Elizabeth got to hold her baby Jake again… I was a mess of tears! Becky’s performance throughout the show was superb! The whole show was excellent. Luke/Lucky, Luke/Elizabeth, Lucky/Elizabeth, Jake/Monica & little Jake/Elizabeth scenes were so well done. Episodes like this one are what make GH watchable. Congrats to the whole team.

I was completely against this storyline because I’m so sick of characters coming back from the dead. It cheapens everything that came before, and it makes me disbelieve any future death. That said, I still found the performances in this episode to be powerful and riveting. Rebecca Herbst, Jonathan Jackson, and Tony Geary were at the top of their form, and it made the scenes heartbreakingly beautiful in spite of the absurdities. Leslie Charleson was brilliant and outstanding. She plays Monica’s heartbreak with such understated elegance.

Glad to hear Charleson finally got something to do. She gets neglected far too often.

She is a gem!

What an emotional and profound episode. Becky Herbst played it perfectly, the fear, the hope, relief, and love. The conversation between Luke and Elizabeth sounded almost personal on the actors part, such a golden nugget. So happy GH has gotten back to history and family.

Thank you to the writing team for giving my girl a chance to shine! Excellent work Becky you go girl you have as much talent as the rest of those gals and a good Kind person also! Indeed a class act!

We love the actress/person, (at least, I do) and, I think she radiates beauty and goodness, but, k/kay, Lizzie has bee a naughty girl, of late. Nonetheless, you are so right….it does not take away from her charm and kindness, albeit her despicable actions, thus far. The thing is, I never tire gazing and appreciating her beauty…. or watching her act. I still think she is adorable and “a class act”, as you stated.

First time GH has made me cry since Cartini took over (except for Flashbacks). That’s what we’re looking for guys, we want to CARE. Now keep it up!

I believe Kate Hall has been writing these incredibly well written scenes. Kate Hall for head writer!

The reunion was nice, but I didn’t feel the emotional connection like everyone else. I’m happy for the little boy being reunited with his mom but I just can’t get past Lizzy’s selfishness and lies about Jake/Jason.

I agree Penny, Liz is doing to others what she despised them of doing to her!

I said something similar to Shay on another thread, penny. As touching as the reunion between Liz and little Jake was, I expected to feel so much more. Where were the kisses? I mean, Liz has not seen her child for years. She should be overcome with joy, not being able to contain herself. Perhaps this is her personality…not very demonstrative? She could also still be in shock…floating in air . She was so sedate and composed…..I’d be going nuts!!!! Yet, I can’t get over how classically beautiful she is!
And, yes. Her deceit does put a heavy pall on my sympathies, as well.
I actually found the reunion between Monica and Jake (the relationship unbeknownst to either, of course) to be more emotive and affecting…..I didn’t even realize I was holding my breath, until Jake left. I sincerely loved that scene, and how easily these two fine thespians fell into each other and into character. Considering this was their first, honest-to-goodness interaction, they were superb. That’s the stuff of which a soap is made….that is what good writing is…..that’s how a story insidiously creeps into our hearts, entrapping us!! (in a good way).

@CeeCee…You can tell everyone, including Elizabeth is treading lightly
around little Jake… Taking it really slow as not to scare him, they are all
strangers to him after all. I’m thinking mother and son will need therapy,
just knowing Helena had little Jake for so long under her care is frightful.
That being said…I like yourself..would be overcome with gratitude, joy &
endless boundless love, that could not be held in check.

This show was great!! The conversation with Monica and Jake was powerful. Lucky bringing home Jake was neat- still kind of random as far as the story line, I am wondering what this is all about and how it will play out. Kids are kind of absent at GH so this should be interesting. How will Jason act with Jake? Now I loved how Luke told Lucky to shake the demons- powerful talk!
I am wondering if Nikolas knew Jake was alive? That will be the big question! How will Lucky and Nikolas interact?
Bring Hayden back! I loved her~

OMG..what a truly wonderful episode. So very well written. I just cant believe Jake is back and Liz has her three boys to hold and love. Like someone said above, THIS is what soaps are made of. Rebecca Herbst played this beautifully, understated, not the scenery chewing some think means your acting. I felt every single emotion that played on her face. Kudos to GH, Rebecca, Jonathan , Tony and little James. What a great little actor he is. He is playing it to perfection, kind of standoffish (he doesnt know them after all) but still sweet.
I wasn’t as thrilled as others are with the “Jason was perfect” scenes with Monica and Jake. It is way too heavyhanded. We get it..Jason is perfect and wonderful, nobody can meet his high standards.

That was awesome!!! I would he so happy if Y&R would copy GH and bring Delia back. Pleeeeeease!? I’m praying to the soap gods. I’m also praying to steal Billy Miller back before they ever did that though. It’s awesome to see a wrong be righted for once!!!

No, Billy is staying! Y&R screwed up!

That’s for sure 🙁 Billy has never been the same. He made Billy’s sarcasm adorable, and was believable as a screw up who was constantly trying to do better. I can’t imagine BJ being capable of pulling off the scene where Billy accidentally got a tattoo of “Victor” on his back. And BM seems to be completely loved as “Jake” too, with amazing chemistry with Elizabeth. Dang it, Y&R!!!!!

Agree with all of comments, but what was missing was just basic curiosity from Eliz about what happened and who had her son all these years. Wouldn’t that have been the first thing most of us would have said?

That and an explanation for how it could be pulled off. The glossed over explanation from Thursday or Friday was Luke saying something about the Cassadines being able to pull off things like this. Didn’t fly for me. And I still don’t like this much rewriting of history. JJ was amazing, as always. Oh, and instead of spending more time with the boys, especially Aidan, he had to go off to fill in his mother? He could have phoned! This is all too lame for me. From reading the other comments, apparently I’m the only one. More realism please.

The thing that bothered me is that if it were my daughter, I would have collapsed to my knees in relieved tears. I didn’t see the stunned relief that I would have felt. But that also would have really scared Jake, so I don’t know. Maybe Liz was maintaining self control. I wouldn’t have been able to.

I agree with both of you. While I have loved these last few days of GH…Jonathan Jackson is practically the heart and soul of the show..he is so natural, easy-does-it, his rapport with Luke, Laura, Elizabeth..the whole thing hearkens back to the essence of the show. It FEELS like GH…Luke, Laura, Lucky…Monica…sigh…. If only Luke were staying…JJ back for good ( doing the impossible…staying on NASHVILLE as well…love him there, too!) perchance to dream, lol, with Scorpio, Holly, Sean…THAT was GH! And these scenes only emphasize what a different, lesser show it’s become.

But…while having lil Jake back was poignant, the acting great, the reactions were waaaay too minimal. A child, a son, a grandson miraculously alive! And, what. Some tears, tender moments. There should be shock, hysterics, disbelief, perhaps fainting, swooning, lol, SOME expressed shock!

And, please…Lucky’s leaving to see Laura? When two sons, one whom he hasn’t seen in years other than presumably on skype…and the other just returned from the supposed beyond!

Carlivati did the same thing on OLTL. Todd, Roger Howarth comes back after YEARS presumed to be living amongst family and friends with a different face, ala, Trevor St. John…and after a simarly composed response they’re over it.

What about Ava/Diane? Did u see many jaws drop when she walked in? Nada.

However, Kudos to the actors and to bringing back a piece of GH’s yesteryear…

By the way, is Jake Jason’s biological son? Because if so, the casting was perfection. That little boy looks like a Steve Burton mini me.

You got it Ashleigh. Lucky agreed to say he was the baby daddy to protect the boy from the mob.

Haha, Ashleigh. I thought the same thing. They even spiked up his hair and gave him a bit of an albeit sweet, cold stone, nonchalant attitude.

I thought the “moment” was mediocre. Maybe because that kid just stands there with this dumb look on his face. Jonathan Jackson is always amazing. That’s where my kudos goto.

I think it is the same little boy get ready for a bumpy ride that child has been raised by Helena for what four or five years this is going to be RC’s version of the bad seed. He will start off with drowning cats I can bet that is where he is headed that is why the boy shows no emotion.

Ive been saying the same thing…little Jake will turn out bad…first he’ll spook his brothers…then he will try to harm Spenser because he wants Emma…he’ll mentally torment Liz…then Josslyn will fall in love with the little terror of her dreams…lol

I had the exact same notion, k/kay! There is something deeply chilling and spooky about this so beautiful, but eerily calm, quiet boy….it goes beyond the natural trepidation that any child in his situation would display. If this storyline progresses in the fashion that this troublesome foreshadowing would suggest, then I would say be afraid…be VERY afraid!

I didnt want to pick on a kid but he was Steve Burton like! [Mr. Roboto!]

Haha mini stone cold!!!!

Too bad he wasnt more like billy miller!!

Well to be fair when he was first hired on GH he was what 3 or 4, back then all they hired him to do was stand there and look cute and have a passing resemblance to Steve Burton. I don’t think he is professional child actor and he probably hasn’t done any real acting in his life, so this isn’t his fault, it is casting fault, they should have recast the role.

You got it, Timmm. Shay actually called him Sone Cold Jr. Little Jake is so cute, though. Brick-Wall, not so much.
How did the name ‘stone cold’ come about, anyway?

@CeeCee. Stone Cold was a nickname given to Jason by Spinnelli.

Thanks, Timmm. Stone Cold surely fits Steve/Dylan, albeit I saw a tinge of a ‘humanoid’ presence in him as he said farewell to a tearful Avery.

If you think about it from the perspective of the Jake character, can you imagine how overwhelming and confusing it would be to have these people show up out of nowhere, disturbing the only existence you’ve known for the past 5 years? A place where even though he was being held, he was obviously well taken care of, and wanted for nothing. Then some guy shows up telling you that he’s your father and he’s gonna take you away. Hell, that would be scary for me now and I’m 35, let alone an 8 year old kid, lol.

I think that he was told to play it this way. James Nigbor, the boy that plays Jake is a real cutie, and I think he’ll do just fine.

And of course, K/Kay brings up a great point. There’s no telling what Helena could have done to this kid’s mind over the past 5 years. We know brainwashing and mind manipulation is her specialty. Will definitely be something interesting to look for.

When he was four, his hair was styled up to make a point. You can see that in the picture Lizzy was gazing upon before Jake’s entrance.
It’s amusing to think that the Cassadines maintained that Ed Grimley point all these years.
I guess they were trying to make a point.

The scenes were good between the adults but emotionless with the child. It was like Elizabeth was hugging a tree. Nor thrilled with the new Jake as he looks a little Psychotic to me.

I dont understand why he was coached by the director to show some emotion?

He does have a bit of a Children of the Corn thing going there–does he not?
What amuses me is that the boy has the exact same hair style he did five years ago.

Right? Lol!!

its not a new jake its the same kid playing jake, he was younger, and probably after “jake’ was killed the kid playing him never kept up with acting, but its the same kid..

Perhaps little Jake is being schooled to behave that way…he has that disturbing ‘Damien’ look about him. He has been with Helena, afterall.

It was beautiful, almost had the 90’s General Hospital feel to it. I just have so many questions, and seriously, they’re not going to explain how or why little Jake ended up on Cassadine Island, other than it being Helena’s machinations? They have to explain who’s organs Josselyn received, though, correct?

If it were me, I would get a DNA test ASAP.

I can see it now. Should GH live for years to come (and I am holding my breath), a new regime tells the story that it is a Jake look-a-like, not the real deal.

Hmmmm. Good idea. But, as we all know, Chrystie, something drastic needs to happen before any bright idea dawns on any of these characters.LOL

I have a feeling Nikolas knew little Jake was alive. This will complete his turn to the dark side.

Turn to the dark side. If its true and Nickolas knew .Darth Vader has nothing on him. I like Nick and Lucky is his brother. Of course Liz took Aiden and proved he was lucky’s so he could be playing the revenge game. I just hope not. Seems most of this show has tried to keep kids from the parents. Liz needs to think what she is doing.

Absolutely. I said as much, Rob. How truthful has Nik been? It looked to me he could not look his mother in the eye. Too bad. All these characters, that I sooo loved, have disappointed me to no end. I am still hoping the writers will redeem him and Liz, somehow.

Yet another emotional episode I thoroughly enjoyed!! I loved every second of it from Luke/Lucky, Jakeson/Monica and Elizabeth’s reunion with her son. Becky Herbst has been doing outstanding work this year and it’s nice to see her being given so much material after so many years on this show. Killing off baby Jake was a huge mistake and I’m glad it’s being rectified. The last few shows have felt like old school GH for me. I hope they keep it up! There are still a lot of questions about what happened to little Jake that I hope will be addressed but for now, I couldn’t be happier with this story!

The good news: Monica and Jason’s scenes were an A+! Billy Miller seems to have chemistry no matter what show he is on and who he acts with! Its great to see Leslie back and we have been waiting for scenes with Jason. It was worth it. For once they didnt side step important dialogue and make us ASSume they had a conversation off camera. It was just precious! I cannot wait until Monica puts two and two together! {A mother always knows!]

The good news part II: Another home run by Tony and JJ. You see people, this is the Luke that all of us long time viewers fell in love with! JJ is so talented. I dont see how he is not a major movie star? Anyway, I loved how Lucky said he might rescue Luke one day and Luke said that he already had. If you think about the whole Fluke story thats what I got from Luke’s line. Having Lucky back home was just what the doctor ordered!

Now the bad news: I wanted so much for Rebecca to knock it out of the park and submit this scene for Emmy consideration but she blew it! I understand her not believing Lucky initially that Jake was alive but once the kid walked into her house she should have been hysterical! She acted like Jake was lost while shopping at Target and the security guard found him stuck in between one of the cloths racks! I wanted to cry. It was just not that good. Any mothers out there? Tell me how you would feel if your deceased child walked into your house five years after you “Buried” him or her? I like Rebecca but she really let me down. I was much more blown away by how Monica and Jason sat and had iced tea as she filled “Jake” in on her beloved Jason.

I was more hysterical when our Target store closed…lol

Thats funny Jim. I cannot believe they are closing some of their stores. Now K-mart and Sears, I understand.

Haha! That’s what i was thinking. JJ was the only powerhouse in those scenes. The rest was nothing to write home about.

HaHa, jimh.

Jim and Timmm…in reading the business news, for TarJay to close one store is nothing compared to their Canadian experiment. They came into Canada a couple of years ago to great fanfare, opened about 150 stores (or a least lots) nationwide, and had to close down everything within two years. Totally beyond bungled.

I buried a baby 15 years ago…i probably would go into shock or had a heart attack…

Jim, I am so sorry.

Jimh…So sorry. This storyline must be bringing back memories.

@Rose,
This storyline is otherworldly and the most painful…a heaviness in the chest, for parents such as Jim and I. It is a profound ache in our hearts that can only be ‘understood’ by those who have walked and are still walking in our shoes.

Ha! Jim, that is funny.
Timm, I understand but I was thinking that Lizzy was trying to keep herself controlled as to not frighten the child. Lizzy is so beautiful that she takes my breath away. Easily the most beautiful woman on daytime.

Hey……I just said that! Rebecca is easily the most beautiful woman on daytime. Why? She is natural. No fru-frus; no frills; no fuss. Just a natural beauty.

read @Ashley post above…. I wanted the reunion to be … all out tears… crying… a letting go of my heart… that I can release all these past 4-5 years on hold

i thought the same as Ashley… that she didn’t want to “scare” Jake… with losing her emotions

dang it tho! Liz has chemistry galore : w/ Lucky, “nuJason”, Nikolas, just whomever they pair her with… and we are witnessing proof postive of her Lead Actress carry

I would imagine;
when a mothers dead son walks into the room she would;
1st ; faint/pass out !
2nd; hysterical crying
3rd;
as Liz.. in complete shock unable to grasp what was actually happening..
A mummified moment .. (not quite in this world at that moment..

I’m more inclined to #3. 1&2, though understandable, would be too much for me. And what about Lucky…it’s as if he’s delivering the mail.

For people complaining about fans not being happy, watch the last two days of GH ,and you will see why. This is what we were use to, except for the Guza years where the mob was the *good guys*, Monica and Billy Miller, just like the four L’s all actors in every sense of the word. But, Jason was NOT good after the accident.
We get story lines off screen, twitter to answer questions, and actors who have no talent. none, nada . We get every actor who isn’t working right now ,but did on a different soap. why? Liz did a great job . maybe the kid has been brainwashed like Lucky was, I certainly hope Liz remembers that lucky and takes Lil Jake to Kevin. The thing I most hope for is FrankenRon see what we see and make ajustments.

C’mon..
GH was not a daily cry fest in the 80’s..
No matter what the era moments as Tony’s exit are rare, in any soap..
Y&R doesn’t have any scenes as the past 3 days of GH ..

I’d bet nobody cried through Luke & Laura in their white space suits and helmets and
Luke in the jungle in a loincloth with black dress socks on.. lol
80’s GH had a lot of campy crazy, also..

Soaps have their moments, and it is the special emotional moments of the 80/whicher years that are being remembered..

GH has its’ moments too..
If JJ had not returned it would be different moments..
I love this story.. It is fun for me to get a wee look back..
Tony as always is at his best..
JJ is giving his best, all are giving their best for this story, Tony’s last.
It is pushing emotions, very well done !

Liz and lil Lucky and Jake/Jason are set up for some great stories..
I can see Jake recalling he is a Q before he recalls he is stone cold..
Nikolas and ELQ is good stuff..
Of course Sam will freak out when she learns Jake is Jason and in love with Liz..
GH will have a great fall season..

The Tony exit story was written for these special moments that will never be forgotten, they will linger on and very well done….
((looking forward to the Luke and Tracy’s goodbye 🙁 Jane and Tony will give us greatness..
The very last scene; emotional impact ..

Since you’re well adept at utilizing Youtube videos of GH of days gone by, please look up “BJ’s Heart”. If you don’t cry upon watching those scenes, then well, you have no heart.

Dear Harry..
I do not care to cry 🙁 but some scenes I just have to cry
Here is a crying YouTube list for you..
BJ Jones’ heart going to her dying cousin, Maxie.
Josslyn’s donation from Jake
Storm shot himself so that Katie could get his heart.
Zack’s liver went to save his brother’s daughter
Olivia received Gus’s heart after his death
Viki received her husband Ben’s heart
Colleen’s heart went to go to a dying Victor.
Rafe’s heart went to Alice
Dylan’s part liver went to Paul
I guess there are many favorite soap organ-transplant storylines to make one cry..

indeed, BJ’s heart to Maxie may well be the best one ..

Yes, Su, there were campy, crazy stories back then. Wild, fantastical trips on earth in Port Charles to one from another planet with Casey, the alien. But at the heart of all those stories were relationships. Families were closer, friends were closer, romance was everywhere you turned…from Frisco and Felucia to Anna and Duke, Sonny and Brenda, Robin and Stone, Lucky and Elizabeth. There were cliques…great families…you just had to be there, lol! And the scene between Luke and Lucky was just the way it was…just a very special relationship. To put it succinctly, it was a vibe…and ya just can’t get it back….

Okay, Suoo. I did not mean to sound snappish…not this time.
I can see that you are trying and I do appreciate it.

No matter how “crazy” and “camp” GH got in the 80s, it had one thing that today’s GH does not have: it had Luke and Laura, greatest love story of all time! Amen!

I thought the whole episode was played with great understanding of what the situation was. It would have been easy for Rebecca Herbst to sob uncontrollably and flail about, making it all about Liz. Instead, she took the role of a mother who didn’t want to frighten what would, almost certainly, be a traumatized child. I thought the struggle that Liz was having – wanting to hold on and never let go, vs. not wanting to frighten Jake – came off perfectly.

It is hard to pick my favorite point in the episode, but I think it was right after Lucky told her Jake was here. She glanced to the door then the camera watched her through the window of the house moving from the fireplace, looking towards the door, she crossed to the door and steadied herself on the chair before finally looking so hopefully at the open door.

Clearly Liz, was in shock. She was stunned and voiced as much when she broke down outside the house. She said she wanted to smother him and never let him go, but she knew that would be too much for the little boy.

I’m sure there will be many questions and follow ups in the days to come, especially for Nik. But well done all around.

PS – I still don’t think that we need to be criticizing the child actors.

I agree–Lizzy was in shock and also fighting to keep it together for the sake of little Jake.

Oh my gosh!! It was an amazing episode! Tears!! Now Lizzie, do the right thing with big Jake and be the heroine I know you are!!

Yes it was another brilliant show filled with great moments, and if you are willing to overlook all the contrived and flimsy story that made those moments possible, then yes you should be very happy. But this isn’t what soaps used to be, soaps used to like a great meal, filled with many courses, with each course, wonderful on its own, so when dessert came– it was just the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. Ron and Co love dessert, but one cannot live on desserts alone, and soaps need more than a handful of great moments strung together to survive.

The writers had so much time because of constraints on JJ’ s time I am willing to cut them some slack the last few weeks Tony has even relaxed and showed his softer side. I’m sorry this is one back from the Dead I am willing to accept because it righted a producer and writer who decided they did not need a legacy character remember JFP just about killed everybody she could get her bloody hands on. I will watch drama likes this any day over the mob nonsense and excuse me everybody being fooled by a woman in a black wig and an accent and not know it is Ava.

Yes, Indeed it was. What a Powerful Episode. This is, What GH is about. Loved every minute of it, to all involved. Thanks GH!!

I Thought Rebecca Herbst did a good Job. Liz was unbelieving what Lucky was saying because she saw him in the hospital. She was num IMO – I think If my child came back from the dead I would be hesitant to believe he was my son. I think Becky shows her emotions in her facial expressions which I find well done. I tend to get more annoyed at some actressses who scream a lot. I think Liz reaction was appropriate for what was going on disbelief, happiness, anger, scared, hesitant to hope. I liked the Nik and Lucky scenes today also.

Two great episodes in a row! So thrilled to see Monica Quartermaine back and let’s hope it sticks.

I loved seeing Monica again. Been years since I have!

Loved Liz’s scenes.
Confused, though.
She has 3 boys. Jake is
Jason’s, but was raised by Lucky.
Are Aiden and Cameron Lucky’s
bio-children?

Cameron is not Lucky’s bio-son, but Aiden is.

But Lucky raised all three boys as his own.
Lucky is the only father poor Cameron has ever known.

So, Liz had three kids with three different men? Hmmmm. Such a netherworldly concept for me.

@CeeCee..
A few of the women on GH have had their children with
different men… In order.
Elizabeth had Cameron w/Zander, Jake w/Jason, Aidan w/Lucky.
Carly had Michael w/AJ, Morgan w/Sonny, Joss w/Jax.
Alexis had Sam w/Julian, Kristina w/Sonny, Molly w/Rick.
Laura had Nik w/ Stavros, Lucky & Lulu w/ Luke.
Tracy had Ned w/ Lord Ashton, Dillon w/ Paul.
Olivia had Dante’s Inferno w/Sonny, New baby w/Julian.
Ava supposedly had Kiki w/Silas, Avery w/Coin-toss Sonny
or Morgan. Still to early in the game for Lulu, Maxie, Sappy,
Rosalie if she stays on as a Q or a C, wouldn’t this scenario
be a pip…Hayden comes out of her coma pregnant w/ Nik’s
baby…….

Thanks for the info, you guys!

@Fanny. Thanks, Fanny.
WOW!!!! I cannot relate, Fanny…LOL. I suppose there are women/men who do live such complex lives, in the real world, not just Soapland.

When I first heard they were bringing little Jake back, I was not happy. There are too many back from the dead stories on GH. However, the writing and acting for the episodes were amazing and emotional. I know this is picky, but if they were going to rewrite history, they should not have kept writing the “5” years comments since Jake died. He died in 2011 so it has only been 4 years.

I am so over the lies. This whole storyline will have to go full circle before Elizabeth and Jake/Jason find their way back. I’ve been catching up on all I’ve missed in my stubborness. Even before she knew Jake was Jason they had that undeniable chemistry that they always had. She was always his protector, confidant, nurse, supporter his love and in my opinion soul mate. The nurses ball when she decided she was going to take her happiness. Was a revaluation for her. Side bar… Why couldn’t Nick keep this to himself? Anyway… I was rooting for her last weekend when i watched that episode! But now all she is doing is perpetuating the lie. Fact, the truth is going to come out. It’s breaking my liason heart! I understand why she did it. I can’t understand why she is still digging the hole deeper? ELizabeth has to say it before anyone else does. Note, does anyone remember the chemistry that Lucky and Sam had? I was rooting for them when JJ wasn’t in the role. I think i understand though it sickens me, why they wrote Elizabeth and Nic together. They successfully killed that Lucky And Elizabeth childhood love. Their love was well It was sweet. Now this… Ok RH bring Elizabeth out of this. Im trying to wrap my head around how? I would have done as she did that first night but it would have had to turn into something more for keeping the lie going. I don’t agree with why and how the lie has evolved after that initial shock of learning the truth. But i believe this storyline as horrible as it is will lead Liason into forever. Just my theory. Jason had this idea about Elizabeth stuck in his head. Start at the beginning.

Nancy Lee Grahn’s Star-Studded ALS Fundraiser Reveals “I’ll Be There” Video Featuring Soap Opera Notables

Talk about your impressive line-up! It’s a soap fans dream and for a great cause. General Hospital’s Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) is prepping her one-night only ALS fundraiser which will feature many of her friends and co-stars.

The benefit is set for May 4th in Glendale, California. Slated to participate are Genie Francis, Jane Elliot, Peter Bergman, Maurice Benard, Eileen Davidson, Thorsten Kaye, Michelle Stafford, Stephen Nichols, Rena Sofer, Jason Thompson, Kelly Monaco, Melissa Claire Egan, Maura West, Kristina Wagner, Gregory Harrison, Trevor St. John, Kate Mansi, Kirsten Storms, Cynthia Watros, and many others.

On Wednesday, Grahn took to her social media and released an “I’ll be there” video shout-out featuring, Monaco, Elliot, Bergman, Bernard, West, Harrison, St. John and more. In a touching and important moment in the new video, Michelle Strogny, who is battling ALS, is featured.

Photo: ABC

Previously, in speaking with Soap Opera Digest on the impetus of the event, Grahn recalled, “I was actually doing Zoom events during Covid and I met this woman that I just fell in love with, Michelle Strojny. At the time, Michelle had been living with ALS for four years. Now, it’s five years. She is a mom of a teenage son, she has the most wonderful husband, and she has been dealing with this [disease] for quite a while. And obviously, there isn’t a cure yet. It’s not survivable yet. But as she says, it’s not incurable. Nothing is; it’s underfunded. But anyway, I just really dug this woman. She is so grounded and filled with grace, and she spends all of her time working to raise money for the cause. We did a fundraiser for her last year and then I thought, ‘You know what? The soaps don’t ever get together to do something for charity.’ Collectively, we have this amazing community and we don’t collectively use it for a good cause, and I think it’s such an easy thing for us to do and we could potentially really make a difference.”

As GH viewers know, Gregory Harrison is playing the character of Gregory Chase, who is also battling ALS in a touching storyline that is currently playing out shedding a light on this disease.

For information on Nancy’s event, including the stars who are s scheduled to participate click here. To purchase tickets to the event click here.

Check out the video featuring Nancy’s friends and co-stars below.  Now let us know, your thought son the line-up for the benefit and helping raise awareness and funds for ALS research via the comment section.

‘General Hospital’ Writer Shannon Peace Let Go, and Shares on Sprina: “One of My Only Regrets is to Not Have the Opportunity to Develop That ‘Ship’ Further”

As General Hospital’s new head writing team of Elizabeth Korte and Patrick Mulcahy gets off the ground and running, there are still changes a foot on the writing team.

Now comes word via breakdown writer Shannon Peace that she is no longer on contract with the long-running ABC soap heading into its 61st season. Peace shared a heartfelt message on her Instagram, thanking the fans, and the show for the opportunity and the importance of diversity in the writers room.

Peace began, “After almost 3 years on staff and 106 episodes penned, I am no longer on contract with General Hospital. Writing for this country’s longest running television serial drama has been an education of epic proportions; I will forever be grateful that I earned my WGA card on a daytime fixture that holds memories for so many.” (Peace pictured below with GH EP Frank Valentini and script writer, Charlotte Gibson from about ten months ago).

Shannon added “Even more importantly, as the sole Black breakdown writer (and only POC in the writers room) during my tenure, I pushed for vital interactions and discussions that prioritized inclusion, visibility, and representation”

The writer pointed to the example of vital interaction when in story, “Stella and Portia’s frank July 2022 conversation about the role race played in Esme’s framing of Trina is just one example of the impact I’m gratified to have had.”

Acknowledging former GH co-head writers was also part of Peace’s farewell expressing, “Appreciation to my former bosses, Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor – not only taking a chance on me, but for valuing my opinion and championing my voice.”

Many GH fans know that Peace was key to the development of the love story between Trina Robinson and Spencer Cassadine as played by Tabyana Ali and Nicholas Chavez. Shannon gave a special shout-out to ‘Sprina’ fans, “I also want to thank fans who were supportive of my work, especially the recognition of my love for ‘Sprina’. One of my only regrets is not having to develop that ‘ship’ further.”

She concludes her statement with,”In the aftermath of a historic writer’s strike that shed new light on the troubling ways writers are regarded in daytime, my sincere hope is that General Hospital recommits to valuing staff writer efforts and input, with a more intentional focus on diverse viewpoints — and thrives for another 60 years.”

Accompanying her post, Shannon added, “Thank you all for the love and support these last few years. I hope GH fans get all they hope for and more!”

So, what do you think about GH not renewing Shannon’s contract? Will there be more continued changes afoot? What do you think is the future of ‘Sprina’ anyway at this point as viewers wait to see if Nicholas Chavez officially returns to the show?  Comment below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Learns Britt Died and Tells Anna He Has Been Working For Cates Since November 2021

On the Tuesday, March 26th of General Hospital, Anna (Finola Hughes) and the viewers learn about where Jason (Steve Burton) has been for over two and half years. However, Jason gets some news of his own.

Anna is visiting Jason at the PCPD interrogation room. She asks him if he shot Dante (Dominic Zamprogna), which he flatly denies. Anna believes him, but she tells Jason it doesn’t matter, because video footage shows him on the roof at the time of the shooting

When talk turns to Jason not willing to speak without his lawyer present, Anna can’t grasp why Jason would instead spend an hour alone talking with John Cates (Adam J. Harrington).

Photo: ABC

It is then that Anna brings up that John went by “Jagger” and that the two of them knew each other in high school. Jason doesn’t recall much of his time in high school following his brain injury, but then he gets furious realizing John knew about “Jason’s” past. That is when Jason slams the table and tells Anna, “I’ve been working for John Cates since November 2021.”

Next, Jason explains further that he has been working as an informant for the FBI. Anna wants to know how this came about and he tells her that after the tunnel collapsed, and he couldn’t make it to Britt (Kelly Thiebaud)… all of a sudden he sees Anna’s face drop.  Anna is the first person to tell him that Britt died and was murdered. She tells Jason the killer is in custody, but he continues to be shocked, overwhelmed with tears welling up in his eyes. Realizing he has to pivot to save his life, Jason continues telling Anna how he wound up working with John.

Jason explains that after the tunnel collapse in Greece, FBI agents grabbed him and placed him under arrest and took him to Quantico where he met John. At Quantico, John played a recording of RICO violations and offered Jason a deal if he agreed to be an informant against Pikeman, the illegal arms dealer.

Anna hears from Jason that he thinks Pikeman is selling illegal arms to anyone flagged by the NSA but has ties to the WSB which they needed a civilian to infiltrate their organization as a military soldier, a mercenary.

Jason tells Anna he was a part of the team brought into eliminate Sonny (Maurice Benard). Every time an attempt was made on Sonny’s life over the last two years, a different team was sent to do the job. Anna gets furious when she learns that John told Jason his job was to kill Sonny and she was with John at the warehouse that night. Jason ensured the sniper missed Sonny and left the rifle behind. However, they were supposed to meet an extraction team. Before he was shot, Dante saw it was Jason on the roof and when he turned around with his hands over his head, Dante was shot by the other guy. Jason says if Dante dies, he’ll be charged with capital murder and then will be useless to the FBI.

Photo: ABC

Meanwhile, John visits Bobbie’s and runs into Carly (Laura Wright). She learns Jason is in custody and is going to head to the PCPD. Before she does, Carly has some words with Cates when she learns not only does John have a vendetta against Sonny, but Jason too.  Carly tells John he should recuse himself from the case.

So, what did you think about the moment when Jason learned Britt died? What do you think of Jason’s return storyline thus far and what we learned about Jagger/Jason and more? Comment below. But first, check out a moment from today’s GH with Jason and Anna.
