GENERAL HOSPITAL: Is Little Jake Alive After All?

Courtesy/ABC

Monday’s episode of General Hospital ushered back on to the canvas f-time Daytime Emmy winner Jonathan Jackson as Lucky Spencer in short story arc.  Jackson came back to GH to share some final scenes with Tony Geary (Luke) before the soap icon leaves the canvas.  Over the years, Geary has made no-bones about that top on his list of favorite scene partners is Jackson.

In story, it was Lucky who saved the day for Luke and Laura (Genie Francis), by firing bullets as Frank Smith and his henchmen, who had his parents at gunpoint. After some shoot-em-up moments, Lucky, Luke and Laura were reunited again in a tender moment for all longtime fans of the ABC soap opera.  Lulu (Emme Rylan) even got in on the action and got to share a hug from her big brother

As Smith laid bleeding out and was trying to get to his gun to shoot his nemesis’, Luke finally put an end to his life 20 years after he thought he had done in the first place.  Before, Luke sent Smith to hell for eternity, Smith utters some words about “Lucky being in on it.”

Courtesy/ABC

When Luke questioned Lucky, it seemed that Lucky put himself in harm’s way intentionally, because of little Jake! – The believed-to-be dead four-year-old son of Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) and Jason’s (Billy Miller), who Lucky raised as his son!

Viewers recall that it was back around March of 2011 when news broke that then GH head writer Bob Guza was going to kill off the adorable cutie patootie via a hit and run … and it would be revealed that none other than Luke Spencer, who was drinking at the time, was responsible for it.

Meanwhile on yesterday’s episode with Elizabeth remembering little Jake in front of big Jake (AKA Jason), and clearly Sam (Kelly Monaco) and Jason being drawn closer to one another now that they are working together, could this be the added wrinkle that would be thrown into continue to keep Sam and Jason apart?

In addition, in a recent issue of Soap Opera Digest it was noted from current General Hospital head writer Ron Carlivati, that Lucky’s return is not the end of the story, and that the head scribe wanted there to be some other component that had a lasting impact on the show and on the story.  Is this what he was referring to?

After Monday’s airshow, social media was abuzz with some GH fans saying that they were very against history being re-written yet again, while others who detested the original story of killing-off the little boy were hoping that Jake could be alive after all, although it seems implausible on many levels for many fans.  And still there are those who even went and re-watched the five minutes following the original death of Jake, and related: Elizabeth saw no car, and didn’t even hear a crash, but found her son at the side of her yard, not on the road.

The debate is on:  Would you like it to turn out that little Jake is alive?  Are you intrigued by the story?  Are you against it? What did you think of the return of Jonathan Jackson? Weigh-in below!

I just don’t trust TPTB for bringing back Jake, they are just teasing Liason fans so that they will watch the show due to the fact that the ratings are plummeting. I left the show in 2008 for the crap that they did to Liz and Jason just because one person didn’t like an actress and favor another. I really wish Jake will come back and make Liz whole, she hasn’t been her Lizzie self where she is a take no prisoner person. I know I am rambling but I will switch back to GH if Jake does come back, or Y&R and DOOL I will stick with you.

Ash

the boy who last played Jake has apparently taped scenes. I think by Friday Lucky will be at Liz’s door with Jake.

Patrick

two things :

#1 Jonathon Jackson : dang it! I haven’t done this in awhile… just attempting to capture JJ’ presence : en·ig·mat·ic
ˌenəɡˈmadik/
adjective
difficult to interpret or understand; mysterious.

as i’ve posted before– Anthony Geary comes alive… with his son… “Lucky”

@Ceec ! I’m with you… Jonathan Jackson au naturale is top tier

even Traci is a close 2nd to being paired with Anthony Geary.

#2. when Liz is telling Jake… “Jake’s ghost has been following Lucky around all this time”

and later… when Luke is asking Lucky what part of this is he in on? Lucky states… “Jake”

the dam is cracking… it’s roiling bubbling and is surfacing…. let out

preface: could they be doing this… as a way of getting the audience to reunite Liz and “Jason” with their son, Jake? so as to ease the transition that he won’t be with Sam and Daniel Edward… as she seems happy with Patrick?

the chemistry with Liz is all their
the chemistry with Sam is not REELing…

emotional

virginia

Sam is always the best . Liz is a big bore .

Harry

Oh please, Virgina. This Lizzy vs Sam fight is just plain silly.
It is possible to like both of them. I know I do.

Patty

Yes bring little jake back please!!! That would be amazing

Rebecca1

I can’t imagine and would never understand Jason staying with Liz after he learns the truth, regardless of whether their son is alive. Keeping him from his wife is reprehensible…keeping him from his son is diabolical.

Lisa

Let that poor baby RIP and let JASAM find their way back to each other…….. now. 🙂

Matilda

Enough Back from the dead characters. There have been about a dozen since Cartini took over. RC/FV have turned GH into a total joke and the ratings prove it.

There will be some who will rejoice over Baby Jake being alive, but that will mostly be the Liason shippers and that is exactly why this is being done. It is a plot point to give Liason a child too, so there is no distinction for Jasam. RC thinks this complicates things and makes it interesting, it doesn’t.

The big problem with bringing Jake back will be the story they will tell, the explanation that will be given. The show doesn’t make sense on a daily basis, so this will be no different.

Somehow Frank Smith is involved? Really? This will wind up being so convoluted and ridiculous, it will be beyond bad.

CeeCee

I am so confused already, Matilda. All these Luke Spencer enemies!!!!. I guess Helena had a hand in resurrecting Frank Smith? And what does he have to do with little Jake?
I agree, this storyline will turn out to be as convoluted as the Fluke claptrap.

Matilda

CeeCee, that’s what RC thinks is tying the canvas together; linking unrelated characters together with no logical thread.

Marianne

jason gave Jacob Martin to Lucky to raise why would he turn his back on the one he can claim Who is so attached to him he runs to him whenever he sees him plus he practly raised Michael as his own why forgive Elizabeth for what she helped Nicholas do to his family

Rose

I totally agree! It seems the writers don’t like jasam or jasam fans very much. Every time we get one step closer to them they do something to put them ten steps back! I don’t understand it because there are SOOOO many jasam fans and I know several that won’t watch the show unless they change the writing for them in favor of them. People don’t like to admit this but they ARE A super couple much loved! The modern day Edward and Lila or Monica and Alan. Destroying this couple is a HUGE mistake. I can’t believe they didn’t learn that the first time around when they let Steve Burton go without a fight. I love everything else about the show but I so beyond disappointed about jasam!

Harry

I honestly do not get the logic behind the JaSams and the Liasons.
If Jake does turn out to be alive, this is not a slap in the face of Sam and Jason fans anymore than it is an endorsement of Jason and Lizzy.
I think this kind of fan mentality is ridiculous. Besides, Sam has a baby with Jason.
Jake being alive after all is more likely a case of righting a wrong. Bob Guza and his team should have never had Luke kill Jake while driving under the influence. That was a horrible storyline and the beginning of the end for the character of Luke. I see Jake being alive as a retirement gift for Tony Geary–the proverbial gold watch, if you will.
I hope Jake is alive as I always detested that story. I don’t approve of killing off soap babies/children as a plot point. The only time I saw it work was with the “BJ’s Heart” story because it unified the entire town of Port Charles and it rose up to actually mean something.
Bring Jake back to Miss Lizzy.

megan

but this is the problem, catering to any one fan group. Jasam had years of their couple, those of us who are not jasam fans and we are many, were very bored of that. Couples have to shake up, and the last thing I want to see is a longterm jasam story. Reunion, fine, but time for both characters to move on.

Rebecca1

Rose…a child is not going to keep Liz and Sam together. She’s lied…kept him from learning his true identity and took a husband from his wife; a child from his father. Jason staying with Liz after discovering all this would be more ludicrous than EVERY character being brought back from the dead!

Becky

Exactly. Waaay too many. Soap fans enjoy them from time to time to get our favorite actors back. It’s usually because a body was never found, however. How are they going to explain that Josslyn got Jake’s heart? I know, it was Helena or Frank Smith (who both have also come back from the dead) who finagled it somehow. Too much, too much!

Becky

And if this is true, they may have lost a viewer.

Laura

Josslyn did not get Jakes heart…she got his kidney.

Rebecca1

Correction! Lol…I meant won’t keep Jason and Liz together…obviously.

CM

JaSam are more than welcome to each other. But let the kid live, I say. Retcon him as Lucky’s, I don’t care. But I hate dead kid storylines.

Jimh(leave it to beaver)
Jimh(leave it to beaver)

The superb acting with Lucky and his parents saved the storyline…imo…if little Jake is alive maybe Nik knows this and to save him, he is being blackmailed into taking over ELQ…the secret of the two Jakes(one is Jason and the other is little) Jake plotline!!!

Jimh(leave it to beaver)
Jimh(leave it to beaver)

My problem with little Jake—did Robin bring him back from the dead—a bit gruesome to me when it involves a child, especially because i had to bury one 15 years ago…too much like that horrible Pet Cemetary movie…hope he was alive along instead but having his loved ones grieve is also terrible…really hope they dont do it!!!

CeeCee

hey, Jimh.
You and I are in the same boat, my friend!!

Fanny

@Jimh… Agreed as to how seamlessly JJ reverted back into Lucky
mode, wonderful seeing the threesome together again… The tale
of 2 Jakes would obsolve Nik of any wrong doing regarding ELQ’s
hostage takeover. Helena the puppet master at play…

Ash

Yes. that little boy never should have been killed off. he was killed off because Becky Herbst (Liz) was fired and her exit story was to have her go crazy after her son’s death. when fans revolted about her firing, she was rehired but this rushed and horribly written story was already well in the works.

I hate when they kill babies on shows. fans who don’t want Jake alive are fans that don’t want Liz to have a connection to Jason cause they want him with Sam. Sam and Jason are going to be reunited. righting this wrong isn’t going to change that. Bring little Jake back to his mama. I’m all for a baby not being dead. I know he’s like 8 now but still remember him as that little boy

maddiehayes

I agree, Ash! I am one of the fans who wrote in to the show in support of Becky when she was fired. She’s not even my favorite, but she is a good actress and Liz is a legacy character. And the way her son was killed off .. just so Jason&Sam could rationalize bringing their own child into a life of danger .. turned my stomach. I’m glad the show is finally righting this grievous wrong.

Sharon

I think the ratings will go way up if Sam & Jason are finally reunited. We do not need another story involving Helena brainwashing a child esp not dead Jake Like the story where she brainwashed Lucky.

Rose

No no no! Just NO! It’s ridiculous after leaving NO holes for Jake to have survived. Jason Robin and Patrick all watched him go brain dead in the operating room and Liz and lucky sat by his side afterwards until the organ donation! It’s all a dream or something, it has to be! Please

megan

As one of the fans who was very angry at Guza for killing Jake, i don’t care whether he left any holes or not in the story, I want jake back. That was a senseless and mean-spirited death. It was intended to show RH the door by ruining her support from fans. It did not. Bring back Jake.

Jim

if they do bring back little Jake, where has he been and who’s been raising him and how old should he be. (the writers can make him older) if, they do bring him back, this be one of the storylines of the ages, even for GH.

Sandy

Bring him back n for goodness sake let jake remember who he is

CeeCee

Good point, Sandy. Perhaps, seeing little Jake, will stir Jason’s memory.

Bernice

That’s exactly what I think will happen. Lil jake will make Jason remember who he is and put everything together. which is a little messed up that him seeing Danny didn’t make him remember.

jonboy

So glad I stopped watching this crap and, from the looks of the ratings lately, it seems I’m not the only one.

Nikki

If you stopped watching you wouldn’t be on here commenting, good try though.

Timmm

I agree Nikki, why bitch about a show and threaten to “Stop watching” and call yourself a fan!

CeeCee

Ha! You go, Nikki, Girl!!!!!!!!
Jonboy peeps in once in a while and repeats the same thing time and time, again.
No one is twisting your arm, Jonboy.

jonboy

Haven’t watched since mid December, nasty Nikki. That doesnt mean I cant read the blogs and comment my opinion. If you don’t like it, ignore it. Simple.

Nikki

Wow on here again!! I can see how much you hate these soap’s. Not trying to be nasty but standing up for the few soap’s we have left against people putting them down with the same old remarks.

Harry

Wow–I must stick up for Jonboy. He has been a GH fan for a long, long time and clearly his show became so bad he had to stop watching. I remember Jonboy from way way back. I do recall his posting on the GH AOL boards. He stopped watching not because of his disdain for his show but rather, due to his love of what it once was.
He gets to pop in here from time to time when he sees an article which perks his interest. I know I do the same.

Nikki

Maybe so but you don’t constantly get on the Michael F. soap site to just say Im so glad I’m not watching it anymore. In other words same old sing song hoping to encourage others to do the same.

CeeCee

Be that as it may, Harry. Being a long-time GH fan and carrying this big burden of disappointment on his back, does not mean he MUST pop up now and again to complain. He can send me to Hades and back…do not care. I rather watch ‘crap’ than nothing at all. If that makes me stupid and small-minded, sobeit!!!!

jonboy

Thank You, you spoke my sentiments exactly. To Nasty Nikki and the others, if this is yiur thing then by all means have at it. Such a stupid thing to suggest my negative post could encourage anyone’s viewing habits. If I had such power I would use it in far more important places. While I miss the GH I once loved I have found that it frees up an hour to do other things. When I see things on here that remind me why I gave it up, I’m gonna comment. It’s my right: freedom of speech. As I said, Icky Nikki, don’t read my posts and stop getting your panties twisted.

Rebecca1

I agree, Harry. And you go, jonboy! People get into possessive mode over soaps and soap sites. It’s beyond ridiculous. I’ve been questioned by one poster….just one…but it’s still nerve…as to my popping up on a soap post other than GH and felt the need to explain that sometimes I’ll contribute my opinion if it involves an actor I like who is now on another soap…or a more general topic that catches my eye.

What is also galling is that some posters have friends here who do nothing but complain about stories/characters on GH ALL fhe time…but then randomly criticize a regular poster like jonboy.

Bottom line…you don’t want to read someone…move on. You decide to read him/her and disagree…that’s fine, too. Don’t TELL someone where they can or cannot post. It’s absurd.

trisha

I hope Jake is well & alive & that Jason & Sam get back together

Ginger

I’m thrilled that RC is rectifying the horrible wrong that Guza perpetuated – killing off a 4 year old is as disgusting as JFP killing off little Delia within weeks of being hired. Now if only we could rid PC of the mob and the little mobbie.

Loretta Corrine

It would be good if Jake was alive but just cause he’s alive it doesn’t mean Jason will stick with Liz. Jason loves Sam, all the lying Liz has done, for sure any chance she had with Jason will be over real fast.

CeeCee

Right, Loretta. I once truly believed Lizzie and Jake/Jason belonged together. But, I quickly changed my mind once the devil took over her brain. What Lizzie is doing is sinful and unpardonable.

Vicki

I have mixed feeling on this. Since its daytime the writers can take license with ANY storyline. Since Joss got one of his kidney’s I am not sure how they could explain that away….I want Liz to be whole again as well and am also wondering if Nik doesn’t know about this also which would explain his recent Cassadine like behavior. I am very concerned that Robin may know about this also which MAY speak to the comments being made about Anthony Geary’s exit story having far reaching effects? Jake died on Patrick’s watch so if she knows her relationship w Liz and Patrick may never be the same. I don’t want to upset the JASAM fans here but I think that ship has sailed. Sam has been in 2 serious relationships since Jason “died” and I am not sure they can get that magic back with Billy Miller playing Jason and I do like him in the part.

Rebecca1

I think they’ve showed over and over that Sam’s never gotten over Jason…from her frantic to finding his ring, hesitating to move in with Patrick, expressions on her face riding on the back of ” Jake’s” bike, reminiscing about the Fourth of July with Jason…her connection to Michael for Jason…the list goes on and on.

Bernice

I agree with Rebecca. I don’t think it matters what other relationships she has had. Jason has always been in forefront of heart. that magic will come back right away. you can see sparks now as she spends time with jake (Jason). when the phoenix went missing you can see the anguish in her face.. yes Rebecca the list goes on and on… cant wait for her to find out he is Jason

Kayla

Not sure how Jake survived without any kidneys since he gave both to Joselyn when he died. See how the writers acknowledge this fact if they bring him back.

aud

I remember they had an illegal organ donar ring around that time. Easy peasy to say Joss got one of those kidneys

Shay

Yes, and in retrospect, it was probably supplied by one Dr. Liesl Obrecht….that crafty lady had her hand in many a GH plot…especially when there were Cassadines involved!!!

Amy Long

Wait…didn’t he give his liver or something to Joslyn? COME ON!!!

Harry

They donated his kidney to Josslyn. One can survive with just one kidney.
Oh, what am I doing! It’s a soap Stupid( calling myself Stupid, not you).
People come back from the dead all of the time! Yes, it defies belief, yes it require an amazing suspension of disbelief but we’ve all been utilizing that suspension since we first saw Tadd Martin rise from the river of death.

Mary SF

Okay, someone coming back from dead, for soap writers should be like salt is to chefs– a little here and there-okay, but doing it all the time, it just ruins the dish. For me what gets ruin when soap writers relies on this device all the time or too much are all death scenes on soaps.

It is very difficult for me to get emotional involve in any death on a soap because I’ve seen too many characters who die come back to take it seriously. However there are some deaths soap writers have left alone and one of those has been children deaths. If they bring back this child from the dead, as a viewer I would have felt ripped off, that my emotional investment in that tragic story was all for naught, and henceforth any child’s death on a soap will be meaningless to me going forward.

One of the main reasons I watch a soap is to get emotionally involve with the characters. In the past when a beloved character died– I could cry, and go through the mourning with the other characters, now I just yawn at death scenes and funerals etc. The last death scene on this show that moved me was Edwards and Katherines on Y&R because I knew the actors who played had died and it would unlikely there will ever returned these characters from the dead with recasts.

I don’t know about you, but I really miss being able to cry during death and fall out on soaps. Death is very real and frankly there are times it should be just be treated seriously, and not a plot device that can be done and undone at will. Maybe for a Cassadine since their stories are not rooted in reality anyway, but not in this case. It sets a dangerous example, where other soaps might start killing off children just for a quick emotional story then a year later undo it and say they are alive—

No this one isn’t about being soap stupid for me if they bring this child back it will in my opinion be insulting to viewers and to the memory of story already told. Just because he didn’t write that story, Ron should respect that is was done and let it stay done.

Rebecca1

Once again I agree with Harry. Though you make excellent, valid points, MarySF…frankly…any good news, in real lifr or soap land, is welcomed by me. I can go through the grief at the time the story is told…go through the emotions not knowing at the time the character will be brought back…and still feel thrilled if a favorite character or actor comes back. I wouldn’t expect or want it on a weekly prime time show…but, it’s a soap and both OLTL and GH take that poetic license…a lot. But I’d rather have a fav come back, or a child…coupled with interesting well written stories…good acting would be a plus. (the Lucky kidnapping/Luke exit has been so tacky, cheesy, implausible..the hit men were horrid actors…the scene between Lulu and Lucky, the brother she adores, hasn’t seen in ages and thought possibly dead…lasted about a minute. And then she went home. Just warmed my heart. Not) my point is, I’m fine with the returns…no matter..it’s all good…all subjective.

Lucy D.

I’m glad they’re bringing little Jake back–there was no good reason to kill him in hte first place–talk about plot points and agenda driven. I’m so hoping seeing Jake will jolt Elizabeth back to reality and tell Jake who he is–and I want there to be a reasoable explantion for Nic putting a hit on Hayden.

Jake being alive will not interfere with the reconciliation of Sam and Jason–though if you think once they unite they’ll live happily ever after, you don’t know much about soaps. And for all this “they’re destiny or soulmates” Jason was ready to abandon Sam when he didn’t think Danny was his. We all seem to have forgotten those actions.

Speaking as someone who’s rooting for a Liz/Nic reunion–I am so tired of the Sam/Jason 4-ever fans rooting vs. any happiness for Elizabeth. And there’s still NO chemistry between BM & KeMo–I don’t care if they’re a real-life couple or not. They’re just flat.

Patrick

“… there’s still NO chemistry between BM & KeMo–I don’t care if they’re a real-life couple or not. They’re just flat. ”

“thank You”

i’ve been saying this from the start

pelting start now

I really think the best thing to do… is that Liz and “Jason” are reunited with their own son…. Jake. bam! ’nuff said

who fell in love first ???? Steve Burton’ Jason… with Liz or Sam… seem like it would be Liz

case in point: 4th of July @ the park…. their may be a comaraderie… of sorts.. as that’s just what an upstanding guy… “Jake” is.

but…. I just didnt feel anything… as “Jake” is asking, Sam… is their any place else to go… to watch the fireworks… as the park is “so” crowded. and Sam shares that their is this one lookout point that Jason rode with her on the motorcycle… ???

ok…. Sam tells “Jake” it’s a memory that’s forever etched in her heart. leave it at that!

I don’t get a vibe or real with Sam and “Jake”

as i’ve posted… Steve Burton actually acted his stoic strong silent self… FOR Kelly Monaco, (he made this pairing)… she was the damsel in distress fully protected…

it’s something to watch Kelly Monaco talking so much in her spiked black boots with tank tops… fully loaded…. (she could speak a little more animated, would help)

nothing is helping her ????

if Patrick is where she made her bed… she still has Daniel Edward and Emma.

janet

For my money I say Bring back Jake fine Liz needs her son. let Jake adult be someone else or at the very least Jason Quartermaine. Not the killer for hire. I don’t care who they put him with. Liz Sam ? they both have sons with him. FrankenRon never learn. They beat us over the head with Franco, and MST. forgot her name I always FF them Until JJ leaves that is then I am gone again. Re_ Ron has taken all the talented actors they brought on, and wrote such stupid stories for them .No one watches any more. How long before another car comes along and takes little Jake out again, ala Duke and AJ. Plus there are so many mobs maybe they could all take each other out.

janet

Forgot this 24 hours and Dante AKA Sonny Jr. jumps into bed with the pig who told tales on his wife because she wanted to sleep with him. Dante even did the deed in his marriage bed. Nine months guess we know what Re-Ron will write baby coming. Dante is definitely Sonny’s son jumps nine feet in the air to conclusions. yuck. another character ruined even tho I haven’t liked him since he lied about Sonny shooting him in cold blood. What kind of stupid cop says he shot himself and they still allow him to keep his badge and gun ????

Fanny

Ticked me off him sleeping w/ Val-Trollope !

k/kay

If Baby Jake is alive I hope Luz grabs him and drives to Genoa City and let’s Jason know his son is still alive and that Billy Abbott is in Port Charles pretending to be him.

k/kay

Liz

Fanny

Wouldn’t that funny.

Harry

Ha! K/Kay. I know what you mean.
Billy Miller is great but I am not seeing him as Jason at all. He is the antithesis to Stone Cold.

Dan

While she’s there, I hope she picks up Robert Scorpio so he can come home to GH where he belongs. Tristan Rogers not being around for Tony Geary’s farewell is a damn shame.

Rebecca1

Lol…

downtownla

I think all these resurrected characters are an apt metaphor for the show. Ron is trying to revive his dead show. Problem is, just like AJ, Duke and Frank Smith, he doesn’t know what to do with them once they come back from the grave!

Timmm

I am tired of being invested in stories and then being asked to forget what happened! Are soap fans morons? HELL NO!

su0000

I say– let the kid live..
If Jake the kid is alive I can guarantee you it will not interfere in any fans lives, it will just be a story twist, no big deal calm down ..
GH script is not the bible..

It would not be changing history.. It is adding onto it..
the history is still there – we’d simply be finding out what really happen.
……………….. and that’s the rest of the story ………………….

If they want to bring him back, that’s not a bad thing.. 🙂

Abruzzfan

Su – I agree100%!

Tim

To quote Jud Crandall from Pet Sematary,”sometimes dead is better”

Jen

I’ve wanted Jake to be brought back for a long time, so I’d be very happy to see this happen. He never should have been killed off in the first place. Since people have been brought back from being frozen after being thought dead, Jake being brought back doesn’t seem that implausible to me in terms of soap themes, however they explain it. I’m just happy to see Elizabeth and Jason have their son back. I love both characters and would like to see this happen. I also think young Jake is a great character and his presence opens up numerous story possibilities. It would be nice to see Cameron, Aiden and Jake together as well.

Allen saint james

It would vindicate Luke and help resolve a storyline that most fans didn’t like. It’s a great way to send him off and breathe more life into the ongoing saga of Jason and Elizabeth. It’s her chance to raise her son with Jason, why not take it.

Allen saint james

About young children dying on soaps I don’t have a problem with it as its a drama. There are some parents and loved ones who watched and could relate, and that’s what soaps do best.

Kathleen

Wait—Wasn’t little Jake kidnapped as a baby from the park? I think I remember Sam watching a young girl take the baby, but she didn’t do anything because she wanted to keep Jason away from Liz. So maybe the baby given back was not Jake, and was some other child who resembled him. Then that baby is the one who died, and real baby Jake was with someone else like Helena or Frank Smith or who knows who.

CeeCee

Although I am somewhat, if not completely, in the dark about little Jake’s backstory, I think your scenario has strong potential for a storyline. I really like your depiction of what could have happened to little Jake, Kathleen.

Patty

Wow what a great idea and it does make sense (except Liz should recognize her own child)! Thank u and hopefully Ron C. Is reading this 🙂

Deborah Ann Pease

I’m so happy lil Jake is alive I always knew he was kidnapped n a dead boy with his face was the kid Elizabeth found at the side of the road I hope this keeps Elizabeth with jason there son Jake . Ty lucky for bringing yr son back to his momma

Dawn

Please no more detours in getting Jason and Sam back together. Billy Miller and Kelly Monaco have something Billy Miller and Rebecca Herbst and/or Jason Thompson and Kelly Monaco doesn’t…chemistry. Steve Burton and Kelly Monaco were my favorite couple before SB left but I think the chemistry between Billy Miller and Kelly Monaco is even hotter.

Dawn

PS. I can live with adults being brought back from the dead by writers but when the writers are cruel enough to kill off a child then the child should not be being held somewhere being raised by people they don’t know after some life altering trauma. Just bad.

su0000

that may or may not be..
we have to wait for it to play out..

I am an equal opportunity fan and ALL no matter of age or race can come back from the dead..
((I’m waiting for soaps to bring back Jimmy Hoffa))

Billy has chem with all women, he is pure charisma .. 😉

Abruzzfan

Billy Miller does have chemistry with every women. Love him as Jake or any of his other characters.

Karen Hophan

I would love it if little Jake was really alive. Soaps bring back people all the time, so this would not be any different. I think this would cause Jason to be torn between Sam and Liz.

randy

my dream of general hospital,,,
laura,,,holly and anna….become charlies angels,,,and start breaking down the crime in port charles,,,leslie webber and monica quartermaine start duking it out over another man,,,women over 60 do have sex,,,
the gay boys in port charles actually get adequate airtime and story..
valerie goes bye bye,,,dante and lulu hve a life crises lulu battles cancer giving marcy rylan some material to sink her teeth into,,,
heather webber has a journey with nina clay to total rehabilitation…but the antics between these two along the way are epic,,,
ava was set up to think she killed connie,,she was shooting blanks,,,but the person in the closet was the one shooting the real bullets scoreing revenge on ava,,,,
so we can finally have multi talented maura west back as ava not this clown dumuccio…
morgan and micheal,,,just have them shitless and half naked,,,no storyline needed,,,
have jason be jason,,,ewnough allready with the jake crap,,,,have some delicious triangles between nicholas jason sam and liz,,,
then again its my dream

SW

I would like nothing more than baby Jake back in Liz’s arms…and with that the realization that keeping Jason/Jake’s identity a secret is wrong. It pains me how they are always making her the bad guy!!! I get that Sam is the end game, but does she have to trounce all over Liz along the way?? TPTB are killing me here!

I may be done with GH with more rewritten history and resurrections. This plot device is overused in Port Charles to the point of nonsense. There is no emotional reward in it. I would rather deal with the fall out and the healing. That is drama. And why then can some chracters be dead and others not?

GH once was a stellar soap. For all the promise and joy of recalling past characters and updating past stories — and there has been much of that — the oft-employed back-from-the-dead trope and increasing crowded cast (which, for me, allows little opportunity for daily engagement) are making Port Charles a difficult place to spend time day to day anymore.

lifgoson

Have watched GH for years and never liked Elizabeth so to see her selfishness and lies come out would do my heart good. For me she isn’t just one of those characters you love to hate she just does not truly fit with anyone except Rick since they are two of a kind. It would be nice to see Jason and Sam turn into the next Luke and Laura since think about it they could start over with Danny and Jake if he is brought back and Elizabeth exposed. The new story line with Dante cheating on Lulu makes me want to vomit though.

Michael

How are they going to explain this storyline since Jake was brain dead and was an organ donor for Jocelyn?

su0000

Well, that is always a challenge for the writers and they work it out lol
It’s always interesting to watch how they do it..

I once read on a soap writers/producers blog/whichever don’t recall whom just what was said;

Soap stories are never ending they can continue on decades after to forever.
A long forgotten story or character can be brought back at anytime from the holding grave. (the holding grave, I liked that lol)
There is no history changing in a soap because stories are never ending.
The events in stories can be added to or taken away from, but forever ongoing..
I am recalling the words, they seem correct.

Michael (not Fairman)
Michael (not Fairman)

In general, I’m pretty much against this kind of resurrection. I think back-from-the-dead plots should be used very sparingly—like, once in a decade on any given soap.

Well, we’re not going to get that, clearly—on any of the remaining four soaps. Since that’s the case, and we’re stuck with this as a soap staple, then I don’t see why it shouldn’t go in this direction once in a while, at least—not bringing back some character I actually wished was really dead, but bringing back a character I thought should never have been killed off in the first place. I did not buy—not for a single minute—what they did to bring AJ back; the explanation made no sense. And I realized I did not care; I was glad to have AJ back, and what they did with him, at least initially, was interesting stuff. So if they want to bring Jake back, and the explanation stretches plausibility beyond the breaking point, well, that happens a lot lately—and at least this time, it will have a purpose that I can get behind.

That said, I agree with those above who have said (1) that it’s happening way too often on this particular show and is wrecking credibility even more than it normally does (whenever a soap does it), and (2) that the show does not seem to know what to do with resurrected characters (e.g., AJ, Duke) once it has resurrected them.

By the way, if Jake really is resurrected, dare I hope that we’ll actually get to see Monica?

Kelsi

No general hospital writers messed up because if you watch the episode again when jake died, he was on the operating table and Patrick and robin operated on him when he passed. Jason was watching through the window. So how are they going to explain this?

Messana

OK, I got it. Little Jake is a clone of big Jake (Jason). After all he was on Cassidine Island where all kinds of weird stuff happens. Sooo, what do you think? He does look a lot like the old Jason. It would explain how little Jake died and why he has no scars from the accident and kidney operation.

CM

Yes, please, let this poor kid be alive and return him to his mother. I don’t care about Liz/Jason vs Liz/Sam ships. The death of Jake was stupid and horribly written and apparently meant to give everyone drama but Liz while they shipped her off-screen. That all failed so give her back her baby.

Abruzzfan

I agree CM!

Alabama

I would love it if they had Lucky come back with little Jake, I hated that they killed him off in the first place it was a horrible, disgusting storyline…Please bring back Jake

jackie

It’s been too long…..leave that story line alone. Too many resurfacing emotions for fans and not happy ones!

Ces

This whole big send off storyline for Tony has been a drag!! Really, Frank Smith? And now we have “another back from the dead” person/kid/baby coming back? It’s constant. Leave the dead people dead. We don’t need Jake — why? just to put him in a corner with Josselyn and Rocco and Danny. GH has their characters have kids and then they end up not even onscreen (and I don’t really care to watch them onscreen anyway).
I’m bored with all these stories right now. Trying to think of one that is capturing my attention? Hm.. nope.

CeeCee

How about the couldn’t-keep-it-in-my-pants, stupid Dunce-Dante; I-have-no-maternal-instincts-La-La Lulu; and at-last-someone-who-sees-past-my-teeth-Valkyrie Valerie, triangle, Ces? LOL.

Shay

Oh, CeeCee…This storyline absolutely sickens me. Even though Lulu was a real “lulu” of an irresponsible wife and mother, it’s still no excuse for her husband’s infidelity. Seeing the “Val-debeast” taking advantage of Dante’s inebriation and emotional vulnerabilities was utterly appalling….as was the way she wrapped her serpentine legs around his body like a vise….now that she’s taken a bite out of him, he’s trapped in her web of deceit for good, even if he’s too stupid to realize it yet! Me thinks “Val-Chops” is soon to be going all “Fatal Attraction” on him…she will NOT be ignored!!!! (Hmmm…reminds me of??? LOL….)

Ces

LOL on the Teeth thing!!! Funny CeeCee — yeah, lame story. Dante was super creepy that night. I’m pretty certain Lulu wouldn’t leave Rocco but hey, these people don’t give a damn about their kids once the ‘story’ is over. Now, Sonny is running a daycare too!

CeeCee

@Ces.
Thanks, Ces. Couldn’t help myself…LOL.
Yeah, Sonny and his brood!! I think Lulu should start kicking some a$$, starting with Dante and ending with Sonny. Then go find Valerie and knock her teeth into place.
Dante dared to kick her out of her own place? This is the last couple I expected to to break up. But, I hope Lulu does not forgive him. Let Dante go to Valerie. See how happy they will be. Dante will regret having given Valerie the time of day or the benefit of the doubt.
I want her to be stoned by the townspeople…..wearing a scarlet letter is not enough; being scorned is not enough;…..I want corporal punishment. LOL

CeeCee

@Shay.
No, sweetie, she will not be ignored. There is always a dig, one way or another, distorted always…… B&B is the only soap I do not watch……never did. So, I never go on the site just to randomly pick on a regular poster and dissect his/her post for spite. Beside the fact, Shay….I cannot be bothered with old hags and Yentas who despise youth. I love the elderly…I do a lot of work for them….I detest old, jealous hagnags, who need to just push it a little farther. I find that so amusing… I am a happy person, considering my loss. Our hearts are open to criticize and praise storylines and characters….that is the point. At least I am one person who does not use different aliases to post here. I am not stupid…hasn’t anyone else figured it out yet?
As far as Valerie? I am starting to follow Harry’s premonitions, albeit I was feeling it too. Harry suggested that we may have a possible fatal attraction in Valerie. However, I doubt she can stand up to Glenn Close.LOL. It’s obvious that Dante has come down to earth where his senses seem to be somewhat restored. He is not happy with Lulu’s explanation, but I do think that he believes her. He realizes it was a bad judgment call on her part, compounded with the fact that he feels she chooses to follow her father’s/family’s dictates. Thus, bottom line? He wants to keep his little family alive and standing. Will Valerie accept this? Or, as Harry says, turn into a banshee, thirsting for blood? Quite a transformation, that!
Later, Girl.

Shay

@CeeCee….That “Valkyrie” label was an interesting choice…..although you would have no idea of this, way back when Spinelli was just a lonely cyber geek obsessing over the ladies of Port Charles, he gave many of them nicknames. Sam was “The Goddess,” Lulu, “The Blonde One,” Liz, “The Maternal One,” Maxie, of course, was “Maximista,” and Carly was termed “The Valkyrie,”—for obvious reasons! The “Jackal” also coined the famous “Stone Cold” for Jason and your favorite SonnyBoy, was nervously called “Mister Sir,” which always cracked me up!!!! There were numerous other monikers, as well. But those are the main ones that apply to current characters! There’s actually a webpage dedicated to all of these clever designations entitled “Spinelli’s Nicknames,” should you wish to check them out!!!! (It’s quite a list, although many refer to now-defunct players on the GH canvas.)

CeeCee

@Shay.
Hello, Shay, Shay.
LOL. I call Valerie Valkyrie sarcastically,….as you know, Valkyries are virginal and beautiful; serving Odin. My paternal grandmother, who happens to be Norse, would tell us children so many mythological and folklore stories. The Valkyrie would capture my attention the most. This entity and her ilk, would lead a slain warrior, of her choice, on the long road to Valhalla. This was, of course, an honor for the worthy hero.
The idea is that Valerie is leading Dante to temptation and to the road of destruction….I thought it was an apropos caricature, when I wrote it. Then, again, my brain is always racing ahead of myself which makes me wrongly assume people know what the heck I’m talking about. That is what is so fantastic between me and Jude. We can read each other, always.
So, this thing with Valerie and Dante is not over. Dante is under the false impression that his explanation was enough to assuage or, rather, put to rest and truncate any sexual relationship in the future. But, we all know there are hot embers under Valerie’s ashes.
I will have to give a look-see at Spinelli’s list. Gee, Shay, he must have had a lot of time on his hands….LOL.

Colleen

I would love to see Little Jake back. This will be a well needed twist to my favorite soap.

T

I can’t wait for Jake to come back! The powers that be should’ve never killed him off all those years ago in the first place! However, I’m definitely weary since this regime likes to bring back fan favorites that should’ve never been killed off (Duke; AJ) and then kill them a year or two down the road.

Jennifer

Come on! So Stupid! Really, let the dead stay dead! Liz is the worst! Such a whiney boring character who only gets a man by manipulation. I used to love her with Lucky, but after that she got really desperate.
Jasam is where it’s at! I am really looking forward to those two reconnecting and spending more time together. I just wish he would get to know his son Danny as his son (not Jake who is long dead).

Shawna

I love the idea. I can think of a few great ways this could play out.

aria

i’m not sure how i feel about this, it does make for a good debate, but i don’t have it in me, so i did hate that they killed off little jake, so i guess i’ll skip criticizing this twist and just see how it plays out, but for real, I know that FV/RC are now the show runners and Head Writer and its their show to run, but they can’t undo everything the previous regime did, it just shows lack of respect and poor creativity from their part. I dislike the previous regime but not all their stuff was awful, Fv/RC might in the future be let go, and someone will then undo everything they ever did, so as they say what goes around come back around. just saying, but since i’m team liz and jason, i ll enjoy this new twist, granted it won’t make sense, to have lucky spend four years sharing little jake ghost only to then just drop him off to his mom and then disappear again , what is his explanation going to be? is he going to peruse his dream of being a singer and move to Nashville , hmmm, i wonder….

Rebecca1

Lol…maybe they’ll recast Lucky. Though I love JJ…he’s amazing on NASHVILLE and as we all know is not coming back to GH. They’ve recast the part before…might its time for Lucky’s return….

Abruzzfan

T – I agree . I can’t wait for Jake to come back! The powers that be should’ve never killed him off all those years ago in the first place!

ABOUT TIME!!

One more thing Cheesecakes..
If you want realistic storylines and plots, then you don’t need to be watching a SOAP OPERA!

I predict Little Jake leads to Big Jake remembering he is Jason.
Just watch Cheesecakes

CeeCee

Exactly what I said, Kelly. Little Jake will be the catalyst Jake needs to snap out of it, as it were.

Daryl

way back when this all happened there was talk that Luke was not the one who ‘killed’ Jake .. there was a lot of ‘wait till you see what really happened’ .. well i guess we will now

GH’s Laura Wright and Wes Ramsey Talk Their Love Connection & The Demands Of Daytime

After presenting for the first time together, at the 45th Annual Daytime Emmys since they’ve been a couple, Laura Wright (Carly) and Wes Ramsey (Peter aka Henrik) of General Hospital have certainly been in the throes of a romantic, fun, and cherished relationship. The two former stars of Guiding Light reconnected last year at Emmy time. Now, sharing their over one year anniversary, Michael Fairman TV caught up with Laura and Wes to get some insight into what makes their relationship work amidst the hustle and bustle, and pace of both being on a network television daytime drama series, and with the pressures of Hollywood where often relationships between two actors seem to start hot and heavy but then fizzle out.

If you caught this week’s GH, you witnessed that the town of Port Charles has found out that Peter is the notorious Cesar Faison’s son, and the ramifications that will be felt for weeks and months and potentially years to come. Meanwhile, Carly is in all sorts of trouble, thanks to naughty Nelle (Chloe Lanier). Nelle is making Carly look awfully unstable and what happens next could change Carly’s life forever.

So, what do these two lovebirds have to say about their relationship and their passion for working on the soaps? Check out what they had to share below.

Wes, you had met Laura originally years ago on Guiding Light.

Wes: Yes, 15 years ago in New York.

And what did you think of her then?

Wes: Well, I was smitten, but I had to keep it to myself.

You had to keep it under wraps, huh?

Wes: Yep!

Laura: I was married then.

Wes: She was pregnant with her second child.

Laura: And he’s a good Kentucky boy.

Wes: Uh-huh! But we would run lines in the green room and I would try very hard to make sure she didn’t catch me staring at her… too often. But we laughed, and had great conversation.

Laura: I would always say, “Wes, will you run lines with me?,” because I would want to run my lines.

Wes: We never had story together, but she always knew I was game to hang out with her for a moment.

It’s good when you’re in a relationship with someone and you can laugh with them. You seem to be able to do that a lot!

Laura: Oh, gosh. I think that’s all we do.

Wes: Yes, yes, yes, yes…

Laura: Like, we belly laugh. It gets to the point where people would think we were ridiculous. We’ll say things and just think it’s the funniest thing ever and people would be like, “You guys have a problem …” and we’re like, “Yeah.” (Laughs)

Laura, and then he comes back into your life years later…

Wes: That’s right, it was Emmy weekend 2017.

Laura: I totally was not expecting it at all. Even when I gave him my number I walked away going “huh…”

You mean you thought he wouldn’t call?

Laura: No, I didn’t feel that… because he hit on me hard. He’ll tell you that.

Wes: I still am hitting on her.

Laura: I remember I walked away quick after he got my number. I was like, “Oh, my God … I gotta go.”

Courtesy/Instagram

Wes: There was an assertiveness on my part that was for sure 15 years in the making. I did not expect to run into her. I also did not expect for her to tell me that she was recently single. In that split second, it was one of those, “stop the presses!” moments. Like, you need to give me your number, I’m taking you to dinner.

Laura: I go, “Oh, be quiet! Are you like, 32, because I can’t do that.” (Laughs)

Wes: And I said, “Far from it.”

Laura: He’s like, “I’m getting ready to be 40.” And I’m like, “I can do that!”

Then, on top of all of this, Wes, you land a primo role on General Hospital. That of Henrik aka Peter, Cesar Faison’s son.

Wes: Yes, a dream come true.

Laura: I’m going to jump in and say it’s a role that he worked all on his own for. He had to screen test against 8 plus guys, 3 different auditions, 2 different days.

Wes: That’s true.

Laura: I can’t say strong enough that the best actor got the role. Meaning, Wesley is so talented and has the ability to give this character the depth, and emotion, and layers that it needs to tell the story that needs to be told. I just think he’s incredible.

So, did you know from the get-go who you were going to be playing?

Wes: I did not.

Laura: I did! (Laughs)

Wes: I’m thrilled that the writers have been giving me such incredible material to dive into.   Each month that goes by, it becomes more and more complex, and more and more layered and intense. I love the depth… I love the conflicts… I love the humanity… I love the desperation… I love the psychology behind it. It’s a very interesting story and a great journey to tell.

Laura: I was getting ready to say, where you mentally have to go to be the son of Faison and Anna Devane (Finola Hughes)! To blend that together is amazing. It’s incredible to watch.

You used to run lines together on Guiding Light. Do you run lines together now on GH? It’s like a full circle moment.

Laura: We do, and we carpool.

Wes: Something we were trying to manifest together. We thought it would be a lot of fun to work together one day.

Laura: The last week we worked, we didn’t. He worked all afternoon. I worked all morning. I was like, “Are they doing this on purpose?” I was so mad! I was like, “Why are you in the afternoon everyday?” (Laughs)

Wes: She lost her chauffeur. (Laughs)

Laura: I did! He always drives us to work. I also love when we both have afternoon calls, because we love having mornings together. So, I didn’t get my morning, nor did I have my chauffeur!

So, two actors can have a good relationship? You see so many Hollywood relationships with actors and they go bust. But that’s not always the case …

Wes: Oh, my God, yes.

Laura: I’m going to say this; I think I can see it being more difficult for daytime

actors, because the work we do is so intense. I know the weeks he’s getting ready to go into, and I’m getting ready to go into. Where we go emotionally and psychologically to tell these stories, on the level that we tell them, as quick as we tell them, you kind of have to become really in a headspace. The fact that we can …

Wes: … the long hours …

Laura: Yes, and exhaustion! You really have to go, “Wow! It’s not about me right now. It’s about us individually as actors.” Thank God, we know the workload. I know what he’s getting ready to go through.

Wes: I have always had so much respect for Laura’s work. On Guiding Light, I’ve always been in awe of what she’s capable of doing. So, the level of respect is obviously there. But also, the understanding whatever it is that you need from a personal assistant in one moment… or a life partner in another moment … or a best friend in moment … or whatever it is in order to get through the day-to-day and the week-to-week, so we can do what we love to do. We know we’re very lucky to have the opportunity to do what we love.

Courtesy/welcometolaurasworld Instagram

Laura was such a great co-host on my Soap Nation Live! Daytime Emmy Nomination Specials, in particular when she talks about acting. It’s so rewarding to hear the other actors who are guests on the show listening to what Laura has to say about her craft and respecting the hell out of her.

Wes: Without a doubt. You can’t watch her work and not be in awe. It speaks for itself.

Laura: I just love the journey of going to the places that we go; to bleed for it.

Wes: Leave it all out on the floor.

Laura: I know that process. So, when I see another actor that’s bleeding, I just bow to them, because I know what it takes to go there. I know the work that Wesley does. When I see that he’s spent at the end of the day, I’m like, “Babe, I so get it.” So, I can see where it could be really difficult for people that haven’t been there, because it’s a lot of work and you’re spent. It’s hard! For us, that works.

What do you think of Laura and Wes’ love connection? What do you think of the latest developments for GH’s Carly and Henrik? Comment below.

GH Nurses’ Ball 2018 Conclusion: Anna Learns Henrik Is Her Son, Maxie Has Her Son, Ava Wows, Mike & Sonny Duet!

In the most moving and exciting episode of this 2018 GH Nurses’ Ball, all roads lead to the truth about Henrik and how he is really living his life as none other than Peter August (Wes Ramsey).  First, Robert (Tristan Rogers) who has punched out by Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) on stage drags him outside of the ballroom for his part in the cover[up.  Robert is worried about Anna’s (Finola Hughes) safety. Nina (Michelle Stafford) confronts her husband about how long he’s known who Henrik is.  She later figures out why he has been trying to whisk her and Charlotte out of the country.

Courtesy/ABC

Onstage Mike (Max Gail) takes a mic, and makes a moment of saying he has Alzheimer’s and then launches into the song he remembers,“The Summer Wind.” As he sings, he imagines being accompanied by a big band as he proceeds to deliver a showstopper.  Suddenly, in reality, Mike is lost and disoriented … scared he stares around at the audience.  Sonny (Maurice Benard) gets up to the stage to help his dad by cluing him into the lyrics.  Sonny sings with Mike and gets him through the song.  They receive a standing ovation.

Ava (Maura West) who is preparing to perform her number comes across a moment between Kiki (Hayley Erin) and Griffin (Matt Cohen) backstage where they are in a hug.  Little does Ms. Jerome know that Griffin was consoling Kiki after her lewd run-in with Dr. Bensch (James DePaiva).   Then it is Maura West, who truly brings down the house for this year’s ball with her Ava’s rendition of “You Don’t Own Me.”  That tune was certainly a nod to all those that Ava feels have wronged her.  Yup! Sonny, Griffin and Kiki we think are some on her list!   Dressed in a white pant suit and accompanied by a bevy of male dancers, West knocked the interpretation of the song out of the park, to make it work for her character and the Nurses’ Ball.

Courtesy/ABC

Elsewhere, Maxie (Kristen Storms) has gone into labor, and Peter is right there safely delivering her baby boy. Maxie is taken by paramedics to the hospital, while Peter calls Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) at Maxie’s urging to let him know what happened.  Spinelli has just found out, through Sam (Kelly Monaco) and Jason (Steve Burton) that Peter is Henrick!

Anna is walking into a trap on the pier as she waits for Henrick. When he appears, he has no idea that Anna is his mother, and thinks it’s all been a set-up.  He points a gun to eliminate her once and for all, but Anna says she has something to tell him.

The Nurses’ Ball concludes with a touching finale of “Champion” featuring: Epiphany (Sonya Eddy), Felix (Marc Anthony Samuel), Bobbie (Jackie Zeman), Amy (Risa Dorken) and the other nurses.

So, what did you think of the final episode of the GH Nurses’ Ball 2018?  What did you think of the musical performances? Do you think Maxie’s baby will be OK? Will Anna be able to tell Henrik that she is his mom? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
