GENERAL HOSPITAL: Laura Learns Nikolas' Fate & Genie Francis Reminds Us All Why She Is An Icon!

The Friday cliffhanger of ABC’s General Hospital was a doozy!

And at the epicenter of it was a several minute performance by daytime treasure Genie Francis (Laura) who unleashed a gut-wrenching turn upon Laura learning from Ava (Maura West, who was also excellent in this episode) that her son Nikolas (then Nick Stabille) was shot by Valentin (James Patrick Stuart), and fell off the balcony to his “death”.

Once Valentin follows Ava downstairs, after she tried to seduce him and knock him out, Laura has some choice words for him while her world is rocked to the core learning Nikolas is “dead”! She spews at Valentin: “You say you hate the Cassadine’s because they wouldn’t acknowledge you, but look at you! You are just like them.  Mikkos would be proud.  My son wasn’t.  He was different.  He was a good man.  He would have welcomed you into his family with open arms, but you didn’t want that.  You didnt’ want it, did you? You didn’t give a damn about a family!  You want blood …  you want power … you want money …  and you took my son!  I will never cooperate with you!  Never, never! You took my son damn you, and you might as well kill me too!  I will never cooperate with you.  Never, never!”

Valentin calmly tells Laura, “I think maybe you want a demostratation of what happens when you don’t cooperate with me.  So, I hope you enjoy joining your son.”  As Valentin aims his gun at Laura, wouldn’t you know! Kevin (Jon Lindstrom) steps in and pushes Laura out of the way and takes a bullet.  As the episode fades to black, Laura is shocked to see Kevin has been shot! Genie Francis reminded us all in those moments of the power of her performances when given material worthy of her talents.  GH fans have patiently waited for Laura to have some major story, and it looks like this may give this Daytime Emmy winner some material to seek her teeth into.

Also in this episode, Sonny (Maurice Benard) caught Kristina (Lexi Ainsworth) and Parker (Ashley Jones) making out in the hallway of the hotel.  He looks shocked too! What will happen when he confronts Kristina?  Meanwhile, poor Lulu (kudos to Emme Rylan for having to recite those directions multiple times within the Cassadine Compound.  We couldn’t haven’t memorized that!) ends up in a maze of sorts and trips upon a skeleton of a body.  Who’s is it?

Best line of the episode has to go to Ava as played by Maura West when she said to Valentin: “I understand vendettas, just Google me.”

So, what did you think of the performance of Genie Francis as Laura unloads on Valentin for killing Nikolas? Did you enjoy the performance of Maura West?  Are you glad Parker and Kristina finally hooked up?  Will Sonny try to understand his daughter’s sexuality? And, will Lulu get more than she bargained for trying to escape?  Share your thoughts in the comment section below!

Awesome Episode!!

Todays episode was the best cliffhanger anyone could ask for. Christina is in big trouble with Sonny. Nurse Webber accepted Francos request for a date. I like them as a couple! Carlos’s brother is here and will he become a long time visitor to Port Charles? Will Robert Scorpio be Annas surprise? I sure hope so! Who will try to kill Julian or is he gonna survive all his haters? Can’t wait for Mondays episode.

I don’t know, Kate, about Robert Scorpio, because I recently read that Tristan Rogers is returning to The Young and the Restless, as Colin Atkinson, Jill’s (Jess Walton) husband, in late-August. Unless he will be appearing on both GH and Y&R, which they didn’t say!

As Mr. Fairman stated, look at what Genie can do with proper material! Us fans have waited over a year to see her shine! Co-credit goes to Kevin Collins. He was spectacular! Ava was great, something finally stopped Sonny in his tracks and Lulu looks to have stumbled onto a female corpse? Great cliffhangers FINALLY!

Sing it! I am so sick of TPTB wasting her talent!

Looks like the corpse is Luke’s BUT its just Helena playing mind games!

Yes! Genie Francis was wonderful today. I loved seeing her in action. Long live GH!

Agreed. I love Genie. She really put her acting cap on. Amazing performance.
One question. Why did she not break down over Nik’s death the first time? She was as cool as a cucumber.
The writers did Laura a disservice. And, I do not care that it was to show good face for Spencer’s sake. A mother needs to be pretty indifferent or stoic to muster that kind of will power. The emotions are too overwhelming not to lose it…..that’s all.

Awwww poor me 🙁
I see Laura a newbie lol .. So, I can’t get excited over her..
I am waiting to see the devil himself (Valentin) bring his destruction and open the gate to hell !!
((he is billed as the worst of the worst bad guys, so am waiting!))

Good point. I hadn’t really thought about that.

Laura didn’t give that type of performance the 1st time that Nik “died” was because it was never a certainty that he was really dead.

CeeCee..that’s the EXACT thoughts I had regarding Laura’s meltdown…why didn’t she react the first time. I, too, tried to rationalize the calm demeanor…being strong for Spencer…perhaps she wouldn’t let herself believe it because it wasn’t conclusive…but STILL…a mother….Same with Lulu, she was sad…but no big reaction. And Into still keep saying no one told Alexis that her favorite nephew was presumed dead? This was what I wrote on another post…the fantastical stories that aren’t supposed to be realistic…vampires, people back from the dead, ghosts, masks, scary mansions and evil arch enemies…I love them all because they have a built-in “poetic license”. But when human emotions and/or common sense is involved and the writers gloss over them…that’s when the fourth wall is broken for me. Make me FEEL and relate! Which “Laura” made me feel yesterday…and through no fault of Genie Francis…finally!

@ Mister Media.
Well, Mr M, I thought it was weird. The only thing I can think of is that the writers knew what was to come: that is, Nik being killed a second time and the viewer would not appreciate her pain if acted more than once.
Yet, it just goes against nature.

@Rebecca 1.
Exactly. I love a good dramatic, fantastical soap. At the same time; I love just a spec of reality shoved in there once in a while.
As I wrote to Mr. M, it is possible that the writers wanted to put the emphasis on this ‘time around’.
Does it mean that Nik is really dead this time?
I truly love Genie Francis and her ‘jaw-dropping’ performance……but, let me tell ya…..no one beats Maura West. The line (in the intro) is soooo typically Ava, ‘Dahling’…LOL. This woman just attracts, captivates and mesmerizes her audience.
I can’t think of anyone else doing this role justice except Maura….well, maybe Michelle S could prove her bombastic ‘kick’ in the head, given the opportunity.

@Sonya.
I am not so sure about that, Sonya, albeit you may have a point.
From my perspective, even IF there were no body; even IF there were uncertainty of Nik’s whereabout; or what happened to him…..that is secondary to the pain and worry a mother experiences. There was no trepidation, except widening of the eyes. I don’t even remember seeing a single tear on Laura’s face. How does a mother do that? I’d have no hair left on my head. LOL.
Maybe Laura is emotionally stronger than the average mother. But, she did do her thing this time…and how!!
I freak out when my kids get a slight fever.
Sure, or not sure, should not make a difference, in my opinion.
Those are not the actions of a mother who just heard her son has vanished.

Celia, I wondered the same thing about Laura’s lack of reaction the first time. But I think I remember that something about not finding the body right away made her suspicious, along with Spencer’s odd reaction. She also never believed Jason killed Nikolas; too bad that idiot Jordan can’t seem to get THAT message.

They weren’t sure if Nic was dead or just missing the first time.

Laura’s reaction was different this time because A: she heard a gun go off and B: Valentin is there live in person and Laura believes he is evil and would kill.

@Timmm.
Hey, Timmmy,
You are saying that there was hope the first time, albeit there was no body. Yet, that fact would have made me even more worried….not knowing is worse.
Yeah, I suppose the gunshot made it more real and tangible for Laura, Timmmy. I, also, realize she knows how sadistic and rotten to the core, Valentin is. But, my point is that Laura showed no emotion whatsoever. He son disappeared and she didn’t lose one iota of her ‘cool’?
That’s weird to me.

@CeeCee….Why was Laura “cool as cucumber?” Because that’s just the way she often is….you have to remember this woman has already been there/done that so often in her life…..she’s repeatedly stared down the baddest of the bad—thus far—in Frank Smith, Mikkos Cassadine, and his awful spawn, Stavros, not to mention, Helena….and others! She’s had over thirty years’ worth of experience with psychotic criminals, save for the portion spent inside her own mind in a sanitarium! I found her “grace under pressure, dead calm” exterior fully consistent with the Laura I’ve known and loved. Beyond that consideration, Genie has never been one to overact….she lets the moment build to the exact right time for emoting….such are her finely-honed skills and nuanced performances! This is a lady who doesn’t need to chew the scenery, don tarted-up apparel or act like an overheated teenager to get noticed or steal the scene!!! Her mere presence and seasoned professionalism gets the job done each and every time, much like the fabulous Finola Hughes, who shares many admirable qualities with the likes of Miss Francis.

She sure out-acted all those lame kids on the show still in Port Charles!

j9: You must be referring to Aaron, among others. That guy makes high school drama classes seem like the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.

SUOO–Genie is not a newbie. Just because you say something over and over does not make it true.
Yes, Genie Frances gave us an emotionally, guttural performance. I had the same reaction as some of you. Why did Laura respond in such a matter-of-fact manner the first time she heard of her son’s death? And on another note, clearly, Nikolas is faking his death yet again. My God, I am tired of Nikolas playing dead. Can’t this old dog learn a new trick?
GH has been providing some good old fashioned soapy escapism as of late.
However, I do wish they’d cease and desist with all the gun violence. Too much of that going on in the real world right now. I don’t know about all of you, but I want a good dose of escapism served up with my soaps.

hi Osgood Fielding lll..
Laura is a newbie – to me – so yes, it is true, for me.
I didn’t see her until her stint now on GH, so yah, a newbie to me.
0ooh wait, I saw the actress on Y&R doing nothing, but that was a short while.
As for Jenie’s acting she is good.. I see Mara West as better ..

I believe Nikolas is shot and we will next see him in a hospital and Nikolas will rise from the dead again as Tyler/Nikolas..
Bad guys shoot people lol .. in all tv, movies, and books, they shoot .. lol

I am finally glad to see the talents of Genie Francis being used! This is going to bring out the Laura we’ve all been dying to see for years: a strong, more driven Laura!

I love Genie and I hope that she gets the well written story lines that she deserves.

Yes,redux!

There are truly not enough words for how incredibly talented and beautiful Genie is! She is soap royalty and shouldn’t have had to wait this long to be given her rightful place back on GH. One thing is for sure – her fans are extremely devoted to her and expect to see her far more often. Her emotional depth still slays me – young actresses ought to sit at her feet to learn from her. Amazing, amazing woman!!! Love her!

Yes, Nancy! No histrionics or actress “tricks” like hiding your face and such. Just raw, honest emotion mixed with a mother’s natural, fierce anger. An entire acting lesson in one scene! BRAVA, GENIE!

Yes!

You’re speaking my language!

It was a Wow episode. Move over Tony G, Genie finally got to show her stuff. And Ava…what a great “seductress.” Loved her scenes with Valentin…great lines, and at times so funny. Still not sure that version of Nicholas is dead. Has he had nine lives yet? And I guess you never know what you might find in the tunnels. But while I was looking forward to a new, “evil” Cassadine, I’m not liking how trigger happy the Valentin character is.

The women ruled the day on GH and Genie was AMAZING I have never seen anyone better! Finally Genie is getting a real storyline that she can soar with and Maura West is a treasure.

Hey, Rose…and LOL.
Trigger happy? Isn’t that the point? ‘Baddest’ of the bad….Leroy Brown.

Celia…re: Valentin being trigger happy…baddest guy I guess with good reason. It just seemed I got used to other Cassadin’s , especially Helena, “stretching” it out more to inflict maximum mental hurt on the victims.

LB is from Chicago and that is a war zone!

Rose…I think this is what makes Valentin interesting. He has a very calm demeanor and then shoots to kill without blinking…like a true psychopath. Stavros, with his over- the -top craziness, was an obvious madman. Franco ( James Franco’s version, was very overtly mad/insane as well, albeit brilliant,) I personally loved seeing their craziness on full display…thought it was fun. But this guy is compelling in a different way because he is so seemingly measured and even-tempered. I don’t think being left out ogpf the family fortune is a good reason to go on a killing spree…did I misinterpret you?

Rebecca…I’m not crazy about the crazies, and am not a great fan of James Franco except in the first Spiderman. Almost had to FF his time on GH. I guess what I’m trying to say, I prefer watching Helena’s more “elegant” style of getting her vendettas and revenges. I thought her will was a classic example of this. Valentin is more of a slam-bang kinda guy in comparison, a least for to me. But none the less an interesting character who I hope provides good storylines.

Rose…as said I thought James Franco’s insanity was fun…but yes, Helena was (is? Time will tell..deliciously evil.) Used to love her cat and mouse with Luke, her menacing sneer at Alexis…now I’m feeling nostalgic! 🙂

Yes,move WAY over TG–then perhaps you’ll fade from sight or memory–which is ok with me–more than ok; you sabotaged and maligned the greatest love story of soaps–and beat down Genie in the progess. Shame! Shame! But Genie has endured–like Faulkner’s character Dilsey. LOL!

Genie Francis conducted a Master Class in soap acting today. Watch and learn from the best!

Shouldn’t that performance get her an Emmy nod? Methinks it should. 🙂

Mr. Fairman said it best: “Genie Francis reminded us all in those moments of the power of her performances when given material worthy of her talents.”

as i watched it i said to my partner this is why they pay her the big bucks,,,i had chills seeing the treasured talent ooze out of this daytime icon..written for a power house actress the scene was electric,,,it felt like a true soap opera moment which in my opinion has been missing for some time from our daytime serials…so bravo genie for proving to everyone you are worth every penny you demand…i think its such sweet justice that jill pharon phelps who canned genies ass from young and restless the minute she arrived is now in the unemployment line while genie is stronger then ever,,,oh yah tony geary who….

Something is going on with Tony he had always lived and respected GF something is off with him I think I know what it is but not going to go there

Yeah, “Tony Geary who”? Now he has got his wish–he can fade into anonymity and we former fans can forget how he damaged our L and L love story irreparably.

James Patrick Stuart is a masterclass ACT

as – well – as oozing in sensual

I have not liked that Valentin Cassadine… is written in a corner as it were ?

is his shelf life limited ? I HOPE NOT

I like his ode to moustache … he has the complete mesmerize going

Genie Francis is simply the best actress in daytime! Since returning to GH and FINALLY being signed to a contract, it looked like the writers were finally giving her the credit she so deserved, but Laura languished on the sidelines propping up other’s stories… until now. I love that they’re giving her a love interest in Kevin (please don’t let Valentin’s bullet take him!) and showing her acting chops as a strong, female lead. Today should only be the beginning. Laura deserves to be strong, as we know she can be… no more playing the victim! More and more Laura, please!

I totally agree. Laura definitely needs to be more front and center, and I to hope Kevin survives so she can lean on him and “mourn” her son. Genie is a much needed asset to the show and I hope the powers that be recognize that and take advantage of this talented actress. Maybe if we’re lucky, they can find Denise Alexander for a couple of mother daughter scenes. I’m just sayin’…

I agree about Denise Alexander coming back as Lesley. Since Genie returned this last time, Lesley hasn’t been seen, and I always thought Genie requested that Denise be asked back when she came on because Laura and Lesley’ s relationship as mother and daughter is so important. Hopefully we’ll see her soon.

Hear my echo–“More Laura, pease”!

Genie Francis was wonderful, as always. As for Nikolas, I don’t believe he is dead. I really don’t believe Helena is dead, either. The evil, vicious old witch has come back so many times in the past, so why not again. This is just a theory of mine, but could it be that Nick Stabile has completed his temporary run as Nikolas, which began on Friday, June 17th, and that is why he was shot and fell over the balcony, and that he isn’t dead, and when we see Nikolas again, Tyler Christopher will return to the role?! Molly Burnett’s temporary run as Maxie is almost over, as Kirsten Storms will be returning to the role on Wednesday, August 3rd. What really annoys me is that Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Carly (Laura Wright) are always looking and judging what other people do wrong, yet look at all the two of them always get away with! Sonny was responsible for so many murders, including A.J. Quartermaine’s (Sean Kanan), and Michael (Chad Duell), like an idiot, forgives Sonny for the murder of Michael’s biological father! When will Sonny and Carly pay for anything?! Nothing against the actors, just their characters! Also, I think it will turn out that Naomi Dreyfus (Robin Riker) will turn out to be Elizabeth’s (Rebecca Herbst) real mother, and Eluzabeth and Hayden/Rachel (Rebecca Budig) will turn out to be sisters. Yesterday’s GH episode indicated that, if you read between the lines. They can’t stand each other as it is, so will they co-exist as sisters, if this comes to pass?! By the way, Robin Riker played the fourth and final Beth Logan on The Bold and the Beautiful, and Beth was the mother of William deVry’s (Julian Jerome) character, Storm Logan, on B&B. William deVry was the third and final Storm Logan, and Beth and Storm were both killed off on that show. The second Storm on B&B was Brian Patrick Clarke, who also appeared on GH, in the mid-1980s, I believe, and Ethan Wayne, the son of the legendary John Wayne, originated the role of Storm in B&B! Again, kudos the the spectacular and very beautiful Genie Francis for that outstanding performance today as Laura. She always does a phenomenal job in the role!

Great post Michael. Yes, others agree with you about Hayden and Liz being sisters, should be interesting/fun if they are! Thanks for the info on William Devry and Robin Riker. Didn’t know that. As long as soaps are on the air these actors never gave to say goodbye for long it seems. A community unto itself. Nice for soap viewers too when they pop up again!

i’m not holding my breath and have averse reaction

is this nothing more than propping and solidifying Hayden character and the actor… to “change” the history of the Webber family?

the “rivalry” and or their characters interaction… are always on

it just seems easier to keep the status quo as is

adversarial… they do not have to be related

Thank you, Rebecca. I do love sharing trivia about the soap opera actors/actresses, etc. I read that when Robin Riker took the role of Naomi Dreyfus on GH, she already had a summer vacation planned. Therefore, we’ll only see Naomi here and there during this summer. I would assume that once the summer is over, Naomi will then appear more often. I also read that Naomi’s arrival in Port Charles is going to change many loved, so it will be very interesting to see how this will all play out. As for Griffin, we all know by now that he is the one that Claudette cheated on Nathan with. If Nathan ends up with the b–ch-on-wheels, scheming Claudette, which I hope will never happen, then will they put Griffin with Maxie. The two of them have been friendly. Be well, Rebecca, and thank you again!

The sisters thing, Michael, was crystal clear to me from the word, “MOTHER??”.
And, there are many of us who believe Helena is still alive….in a spectral manner.
Nik? I agree; I doubt he’s dead. The falling out of the window twice symbolizes something. What? I am not sure, at this point. The Phoenix rising? Will Nik, reborn, be the continuing bond of the demonic Cassadine heritage? Forever forged in blood?

Lol CeeCee…I heard “dadadadaaaaaaa” music when I read your post just now!

Absolutely, Celia! Nikolas can’t be dead. He’s too important a character. I would not be a bit surprised if Helena just turns up alive, when we least expect it. Now, this Valentin Cassadine is all we need. Another crazy Cassadine. I have read that Helena quakes in her boots, at the very mention of Valentin’s name, so if she is alive, Valentin would more than likely, keep Helena in line, which I’m all for. Valentin did say that he doesn’t care about Helena. Well, Celia, time will tell. Thank you, and be well!

@Michael.
Thank you, Michael. I always enjoy your comments.
You know, there is a good possibility Valentin is holding Helena prisoner down in the ‘catacombs’; dungeon; tunnels…whatever.
As I mentioned before, the waters surrounding the Cassadine castle connect to pier 54. All these hostages need to do is find the vortex. LOL.
Helena would be held in a cell-like cave guarded by Cerberus.
Lulu will come face to face with both. Oh, my!!!! Wouldn’t that be a plot twist!!
You be well yourself, Michael.

Celia, I really think you’re going to be absolutely right about Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) holding Helena (Constance Towers) hostage, and Lulu (Emme Rylan) will stumble onto something down there. Thank you for saying you always enjoy my comments. So very nice of you. Likewise for me. As you know, the very beautiful, late, great, Eluzabeth Taylor, originated the role of Helena Cassadine in 1981, cursed Luke (Anthony Geary) and Laura (Genie Francis) at their November 1981 wedding, and Luke and Laura have been going through hell ever since. I can’t believe that this Wednesday, July 27th will be one year since Anthony Geary last appeared on GH. I also can’t believe that this year makes 40 years since Genie Francis first joined GH. She was known, back then, as Genie Ann Francis. Even though Genie Francis will always be the Laura we’ve known and still love, all these years later, the role of Laura was first played by Stacey Baldwin. Amy Vining, who grew up with Laura, was first played by Carrie Ann Warder, and then for years, by the late Shell Kepler, who passed away so young. Such a terrible loss. I just loved when she used to gossip as Amy, and always say the wrong things. Amy never knew when to keep quiet, very true, but she was so very, very funny. Now we have this new nurse Amy (Risa Sorkin), who also does the same things as the original Amy character did. As if we didn’t know that the new character Amy is based on the original Amy character. GH is really getting extra, extra interesting now. We’ll just have to sit back, enjoy watching, as we always do, and see how everything plays out. Time will certainly tell. Be well, Celia!

Celia, I just forgot to mention, that between Elizabeth Taylor and Constance Towers, the role of Helena Cassadine was also played for a short time, by Dmitra Arliss.

Hopefully he fell on top of Sabrina!

@Michael
Hi, Michael.
You’re such a nice man, sir.
No, I did not know Liz Taylor was Helena number 1. Then again, I am not very “educated” in GH history….just bits and pieces. The basics.
I know that Ms Towers is married to John Gavin. I watch old movies with my grandmother….she told me that. She started watching GH when I did….a little over two years ago.
Unfortunately, GH was not in her ‘repertoire’ of soaps, back in the day. She mostly watched DOOL, ANOTHER WORLD ( her favorite), AMC, OLTL, and SOMERSET. My mother only watched Y&R, time permitting. She was married with kids and in law school.
I suppose GH is getting a bit more interesting. It depends on the storyline and the people involved. The Valentin thing, so far, has been too much too fast for me. My head is spinning….it’s very cartoonish…but, entertaining, nonetheless .
Naomi’s story sounds ‘finger lickin’ good’, LOL. And, I want Nina to get a classic love-story with Curtis. But, these writers never listen to me.
Later, Michael.

Celia, thank you so much for saying you think I’m nice. That is a very nice compliment from a very nice lady, which you certainly are. Yes, I know that Constance Towers is married to actor John Gavin. Yes, Elizabeth Taylor played Helena originally, followed years later, by Dmitra Arliss and Constance Towers. Constance Towers, years ago, played sweet Clarissa McCandless on the CBS-TV political soap opera, Capitol, which ran from 1982-1987, and was replaced by The Bold and the Beautiful, the sister-show of The Young and the Restless. In addition to GH, I watch Y&R and B&B, and I love all three soaps. My late dad used to watch the same three soaps with me, and my late mom watched Days of Our Lives, which dad and I followed once in a while. I love watching old episodes of Anither World online, and I remember Somerset, which was a spin-off of Another World. On Capitol, Constance Towers’ character, Clarissa McCandless’ rival was Myrna Clegg, played by Carolyn Jones of The Addams Family. When Carolyn Jones became ill, Marla Adams filled in as Myrna Clegg, then Marla went to Y&R, to play Dina Abbott Mergeron. Carolyn Jones, who passed away in August 1983, was permanently replaced as Myrna Clegg on Capitol, by Marj Dusay, who played Blair’s (Lisa Whelchel) mother, Monica Warner, on the sitcom, The Facts of Life. Be well, Celia, and thank you again!

@Michael.
Wow!!!!, Michael….what an impressive account of ‘all things’ soaps. You have some memory. Sometimes, I can’t remember what day it is!! LOL.
My grandmother still bemoans ANOTHER WORLD to this day!!
Thank you so much for that, Michael. Later.

Hey there, CeeCee….I told you months ago that “LaLiz” originated the role of Helena when we first showered Constance Towers with praise for her present-day portrayal of the “Ice Queen!” We ended up having a very lengthy discussion regarding Miss Towers’ successful and varied career as both an actress and singer on stage and film, plus her long marriage to the multi-talented John Gavin. I also recall mentioning her polar-opposite “Clarissa McCandless” character on “Capitol.” By the way, speaking of Elizabeth Taylor’s take on Helena, I just spoke of it on the most recent “Valentin” thread when we broached the topic of Mikkos. You must have missed it, or you would have already been aware of the history of Helena.

I hear what you’re saying too Patrick. As long as Liz is still a Weber…did we ever know who her mother is? I don’t remember…

Hilarious!!

No, Rebecca! I don’t believe it was ever mentioned who Elizabeth’s (Rebecca Herbst) mother is! All we’ve known all along is that Elizabeth’s father is Dr. Jeff Webber, played by Richard Dean Anderson, from 1976-1981, her brother is Dr. Steven Webber, played last by Scott Reeves, whose mother is Heather Grant Webber, played by Georganne LaPiere (the real-life sister of Cher), Mary O’Brien, Christina Hart and Robin Mattson, who has played Heather the longest, and her sister is Dr. Sarah Webber, played years ago by Jennifer Sky and Sarah Laine. It’s possible that Jeff’s present wife, whomever she is, adopted Elizabeth when she married Jeff. So, naturally, Jeff could have fathered Elizabeth with Naomi Dreyfus (Robin Riker)!

Michael..I didn’t know Cher’s sister originated the role of Heather. After reading your comment I googled her and read an interview she did in 2013. She expressed regret about leaving GH, said she got bad advice from her manager, had a blast on the show, was hurt that she wasn’t asked back for the 25th or 50th anniversary. Said she loved working with Richard Dean Anderson (ceeCee, you should google him from the 70s I think? He was tres beau!) and though she admires Robin Matteson…hopes she’ll get tired of playing Heather so that ABC might ask her to reprise the role! Expressed regret that when they decided to bring “Heather” back to the show they didn’t ask her…interesting!!!

You’re welcome Michael. It’s such a little soap “society” we have here. Funny, all the history, etc…we probably know more about these fictitious characters than many in our own family tree! Hmmm…have to work on that….;)

Summer vacation. Finola Hughes will be gone too. That’s the upside of having a big cast. There’s always something, someone to keep the stories going… 🙂

Rebecca, I just forgot to mention that Camilla Moore, who played Anna Devane on General Hospital, from late 1991 to 1992, has a twin sister in real-life. I believe both of them appeared on Days of Our Lives, although I’m not certain whether it was before or after GH!

Rebecca, I read that very same interview that Georganne LaPiere gave, and I know she regretted leaving GH. I didn’t actually see her as Heather when she originally aired, which, I believe, was from 1976-1977. I saw her a number of months ago in a classic clip from GH, when Georganne was originally on the show. She was a patient at GH, and Nurse Jessie Brewer, played by the late Emily McLaughlin, was in this scene with Georganne. Also, when Emily McLaughlin was out sick in 1977, the late Aneta Corsaut, of The Andy Griffith Show, filled in as Jessie Brewer. The first Heather I saw was Mary O’Brien, who left the show after her character tried to give someone iced tea laced with LSD, and instead, drank it herself, by mistake, and had to be institutionalized afterwards. When Heather was seen in the sanitarium, actress Christina Hart played the role briefly, but only the back of her was seen. When Heather got over the LSD trip, and the character returned in the fall of 1980, Robin Mattson took over the role, and has played Heather, on-and-off, ever since then. I actually started watching GH in the fall of 1978, when GH was under quarantine, during the lasa fever epidemic. During that time, Genie Francis’ (Laura) real-life father, Ivor Francis, played Dr. Eric Lombard for a short time. Ivor Francis also played a doctor briefly, I believe, on the original Dark Shadows. Ivor Francis passed away in 1986. Also, I thought actress Julie Mannix was the original Heather on GH, but she played another character named Heather on GH during the early 1970s. The Heather character originated by Georganne LaPiere, didn’t arrive on GH until 1976! Be well, Rebecca!

Rebecca, I forgot to mention that Julie Mannix and producer Frank Von Zerneck are the parents of Danielle Von Zerneck, who played a character named Lou, on GH, who was friends with Blackie Parrish (John Stamos) and Frisco Jones (Jack Wagner) in the mid-1980s. She was only on GH for a short time. Lou was killed when she fell and hit her head in Kelly’s Diner. Frisco, as you may know is the biological father of Maxie Jones on the show, and Maxie’s biological mother is Felicia Jones, played by Kristina Wagner, who is married to Jack Wagner in real-life!

Ok Michael…now you’re scaring me! Lol…you’re memory and/or knowledge is phenomenal!

Thank you, Rebecca, for the very nice compliment about my memory/knowledge. So very kind of you. My late parents used to say that people were always amazed by what I remember. I don’t do this purposely. Things just stick in my mind. Not to praise myself, because I never do, but dad used to call me “the walking computer,” or “the human computer,” because of my memory. LOL! I didn’t mean to “scare” you, Rebecca. LOL! I hope I’m forgiven! LOL!

Like someone said, “a real soap moment.” Genie deserves all the accolades that have NOT come her way. “And the winner is . . . .” 🙂

@Michael….What a pleasure to read the vivid recollections of someone with whom I share some (but not all) of those wonderful soap memories from decades past! Oh, where to begin? Well, “Capitol” was a “capital” soap! Very apropos for its time during the Reagan administration! I loved its glossy premise and sophisticated characters like Sloane, Trey, Myrna, Jarrett Morgan and so many others! (How could one not enjoy a show with a Gothic loony such as Julie Adams’ Paula Denning, that harpsichord-playing “agoraphobia-faking” political wife who left her inner sanctum only long enough to run over her not-so-useful-idiot psychiatrist in a parking deck? LOL….) Oddly enough, I’ve often spoken of Constance Towers’ salt of the earth Clarissa McCandless character on this website when we’ve been otherwise discussing this actress’ superb modern-day portrayal as GH’s Helena, whose cooly calculating Cassadine matriarch is so vastly unlike Clarissa…a woman I prefer to think of a being the “good twin” Helena never had! As for your notion about Hayden and Liz being sisters, it would seem a good bet, although I really hate to see this history being written into the Webber family tree. I vaguely remember the pre-McGyver Richard Dean Anderson as Jeff…and his romantic trevails with Monica, Heather and Anne Logan, who I think bore a striking fresh-faced resemblance to Rebecca Herbst….from the moment I first saw Liz, I wondered if Anne and Jeff eventually got together and had this lovely lass as their daughter, but alas, after many years, we’ve finally gotten that answer. (Or did we????) At any rate, I’ve often called for Dr. Webber’s return to GH….probably not in the original form of the seemingly retired Anderson, but as a suitable recast. Jeff’s total absence from the show all of this time has never made much sense, particularly given his paternal link to original chief of staff, Dr. Hardy! (Plus, he still has his two exes on the canvas in Monica and Heather….it would have been good fun to see him interact with both since neither ended on especially good terms with him.) In terms of the “Three Heathers,” you’ve mentioned, I’ve only seen clips of the previous two, but I have to say Robin Mattson absolutely owns the role! She has segued very successfully from the sexy, but seriously disturbed, seductress of the 1980’s to the character-driven Mommie Dearest psycho we now see. (Long live Heather!) Honestly, just reading your lengthy list of names from what I consider to be GH’s best era leads me to ask you if you view today’s show as being as lacking as I do….despite occasionally enjoying the talented vets who come and go with regularity, I find that the newer characters and actors simply don’t live up to the excellence of bygone days. When you consider that in a very short period of time GH launched the later primetime/film careers of the aforementioned Anderson, Rick Springfield, Emma Samms, John Stamos, Janine Turner, Demi Moore, Tia Carrere, Jack Wagner and yes, Genie Francis, it certainly gives pause to the sort of casting we currently see as opposed to that of the Monty days where we had both young talent and charisma in spades! Other than Jonathan Jackson, there is nobody who today really represents that sort of leap, and he was cast on the show years ago. One other reason I also wax so nostalgically about the Ice Princess days of GH is because it was the last “pre-Corinthos” decade……once the ’90’s hit, Port Charles became “Sonny City,” and my hardcore GH habit came to an end, believe you me! Am I the only one who is amazed that we continue to suffer through “Dimples'” domination of the program, and yet, Luke Spencer is now but a (thankfully) forgotten memory???? Who’d have ever thunk it way back when, eh, Michael?????

Shay, thank you so much. What a wonderful post you gave, and I really enjoyed reading it. To answer your question about GH lacking today, than it was in years gone by: I absolutely agree with you, 500%! LOL! Yes, every so often, some characters from GH’s wonderful past return temporarily, and although it’s nice to see them, it’s not like when these characters were a permanent part of the show. About Anne Logan, you know, Shay, I never thought of it that she could have been Elizabeth’s biological mother. Great point! The thing is, Naomi acting the way she is, and asking about Elizabeth’s past, it would more than likely turn out that Naomi is Elizabeth’s mother. We only knew that Jeff remarried after Heather, and his daughters Sarah and Elizabeth were supposed to be with his new wife. Heather is Jeff son’s, Steven Lars’ mother, and I don’t recall them ever mentioning the name of Jeff’s present wife, who is supposedly the mom of Sarah and Elizabeth. It’s possible that Jeff’s present wife is Sarah’s mother, but Elizabeth’s mother I think will definitely turn out to be Naomi, although on these soap operas, we don’t know what will happen next. Yes, I miss the days of the ice princess. July 27th made one year since Anthony Geary last appeared as Luke. Yes, Shay, this is now the Sonny Cornthos show. I just can’t take Sonny or Carly. They judge everyone, but never look at all the things they’ve done, and have gotten away with. These writers will always let the two of them get away with everything, and it.’s really appalling. I’m so glad Genie Francis is finally getting a great storyline, which is long overdue. She brings back memories of GH’s heyday, and she steals every scene. As for Capitol, I just loved that show, and seeing the late Carolyn Jones as the original Myrna Clegg. When she was ailing, Marla Adams filled in as Myrna, but then went to. Y&R, to play Dina Abbott Mergeron. Carolyn Jones was permanently replaced as Myrna by Marj Dusay, who was known as Monica Warner, Blair’s mother on the sitcom, The Facts of Life. Marj Dusay was also one of the Alexandra Spauldings on Guiding Light, along with the late Beverlee McKinsey, the original Iris from Another World, and Joan Collins. Marj Dusay also substituted for Louise Sorel as Vivian Alamain on Days of Our Lives. My aunt, dad’s sister, knew both Robin Strasser, who played on AW, AMC, OLTL, Knots Landing and Passions. My aunt also knew Linda Dano, who played on AW and OLTL. Both Robin Strasser and Linda Dano used to shop at Loehmann’s, the well-known women’s clothing store, where my aunt worked for many years. Yes you are absolutely right when you say that Constance Towers’ Capitol character, sweet Clarissa McCandless, is like the “good twin” her GH character, Helena Cassadine, never had. You know, Shay, that the late, great Elizabeth Taylor, was the original Helena, and then years later, Helena was played briefly by Dmitra Arliss, before Constance Towers took over the role in 1997, I believe it was. The four remaining soaps on the air today, are not like they were years ago. I remember years ago, when there were over one open soaps on the air at once. This was when soaps were soaps. From what I understand, The Bold and the Beautiful, which replaced Capitol, is filmed on the same soundstage at CBS in Los Angeles, CA. The Clegg mansion on Capitol, was so beautiful, and looked so large, as opposed to the Forrester mansion on B&B, which, although very beautiful as well, seems a lot smaller. Anyway, it was such a great pleasure taking this trip down soap opera memory lane with you, Shay. Thank you again, and be well!

@Michael….Thank you for your great, detailed response! You are so right when you state what a kick it is to share our fond memories of soap days gone by!!! However, to clarify, when I spoke of the possibility of Anne Logan (aka, Susan Pratt) being Liz’s birth mother, I was referring to my first impressions way back when Rebecca Herbst debuted as Elizabeth Webber….right off the bat, I noticed an uncanny resemblance between the two actresses, and even through the subsequent years, such a notion made sense based upon their physical similarity. But I believe it became somewhat apparent awhile ago that possibility was most probably not to be the case when Anne and her dalliance with the dishy Dr. Noah Drake served as an update to her whereabouts, although it would have made for an excellent reveal! I can see a like situation with Robin Riker being mother to Liz….it’s not so much I mind her as a prospective maternal source…..I’m just not pleased to see Nurse Webber linked to Hayden in such a familial manner, nor for Rebecca Budig’s character to have a bloodline to one of GH’s founding families, because her addition to the show has been an ongoing source of irritation for me. Her “Haychel” really rubs me the wrong way, much like Nina, and even often, Ava, do….since, in my opinion, there’s too much effort (i.e, revisionism…) expended into creating a place for them within the show’s framework to the detriment and expense of the more traditional players and original storylines. Then again, if the shoe were on the other foot, I cannot imagine those who adored these aforementioned chicks in their prior spheres of soapdom would have been thrilled if Luke, Laura, the Q.’s ,Cassadines or especially, Sonny and Carly, barged into their respective fictional soap villages and took over the town with their larger than life presences, either!!!! (Hey, let’s face it, even a lot of us long-time GH fans are less than elated that the latter two are lording over their own home turf, if the many posts here dissing the almighty, omnipresent Corinthos clan are indicative! LOL….) Regardless, I loved your list of soap style mavens of yesteryear….they all added such sass, class, pizzazz and a huge glamour quotient to their respective canvases, something which is soooo sorely missing from today’s scene. I adored Linda Dano’s Felicia Gallant, and I wasn’t even a follower of “Another World,” per se….I would just frequently tune in to see what she was wearing!!! (I also admired her other career in fashion/lifestyle TV…..what a fabulously chic and tasteful woman!) As for your tales of Loehmann’s (R.I.P.!) via your aunt….I never visited the flagship location, but during my junior high/high school days I bagged many a great bargain at the store’s various suburban shops…..especially in “The Back Room!” I was a sample size and that was the place to get the best, most exclusive stuff! The ladies who worked there were so kind, helpful and attentive, and they would even assist you in creating a private space to try on their sumptuous offerings, so as to avoid the dreaded “communal dressing rooms!” Oh, what wonderful memories! I’m sure your aunt was similarly a real peach and had amazing stories to tell of her years with that much-missed retailer…..I know many stars, and not just those of the soap variety, shopped at that NYC fashion mecca! (Wasn’t Lauren Bacall a regular there????) As for Marj Dusay, she was my hands-down favorite Myrna Clegg…..always so commanding and regal, particularly when she was “Queen Bee-ing” it with her much more down to earth frenemy, Clarissa! It was actually rather serendipitous that you mentioned Miss Dusay, as I was just thinking about her over these last few weeks….I hope it is permissible to mention this topic, but I don’t know if you remember that Marj was born in Russell, Kansas, attended school with Senator Bob Dole, and during his 1996 presidential run, personally endorsed him by recalling her deep admiration for the man and his inspiring life story as a returning—and seriously injured—WWII hero. I’m unaware as to whether she actually attended the GOP convention or spoke there on his behalf, but given the recent reactions to Kimberlin Brown and Antonio Sabato Jr., I was moved to wonder if she suffered any comparable blowback for that political decision, since back then, as like today, so many soap stars were all in for the Clintons. (Is it like being in a bit of a timewarp or what???) As we didn’t have Twitter, Facebook or message boards to air the truly vicious comments we have witnessed in our modern environment, one can only guess, but there were still quite a few soap-themed publications left at that point, and I can remember reading that even then there existed a pretty partisan atmosphere not totally different from the present day one. At any rate, I should certainly hope there were no such issues, because Miss Dusay was—and still is—-such a magnificent and gracious grande dame of the soap world! That being said, I hear you about that awesome Clegg mansion….it was an architectural masterpiece…an absolute triumph of the chiaroscuro….a palace fit for American royalty! The same could also be said for the Alden family’s home base on Loving…it was another example of the spaciously scaled sets that were de rigueur during that gilded age of soap operas! (Oh, what fun just thinking about them! Quite frankly, I find the only way to currently satisfy my yen for such similar high production values and expensively-clad actors is to partake of British dramas….particularly of the period variety! That’s my main source of entertainment now…..I only hang in—albeit sporadically—with GH out of a sense of loyalty for the show it once was. Sad, but true! Annnnndddd….speaking of B&B, I watched that program for about its first decade…..and thoroughly got into it for its definitely inspired moments of soapy good madness, along with the requisite dose of beautiful people, wardrobes and locations!!! That is, until it officially morphed into “The Brooke Logan Show,” and turned into the totally unrecognizable hot mess that it has now become! But I digress….) Oh well, Michael….enough of the wistful reminiscences of soap operas past for now….it’s been such a joy to read your fact-filled remarks….please provide more of your precious posts, not only so that I can continue to indulge in this sweet nostalgia we have going, but also so that others less familiar with our formerly wonderful world of soaps can understand not only how truly creative and unique they once were, but why we still pine for those magical “days of our lives!” Later, my friend, take care!

Thank you, Shay, for another great post. Yes, now that you mention it, my aunt did mention that Lauren Bacall did shop at Loehmann’s. My aunt might have even known her as well. Years ago, I remember that there were close to twenty soaps on the air at once, and now we are down to just four, all taped in California. To think, that years ago, the majority of them were taped in New York. So much has changed. Another favorite of mine was Dark Shadows. Both the original daytime soap, and the primetime revival mini-series were excellent. I hear you about the British dramas. I followed both Downton Abbey and Mr. Selfridge, which were both outstanding dramas. I started in the middle of season three of Downton Abbey, and I was hooked. Mr. Selfridge I watched from start to finish. There is something about the English dramas and comedies, as well as the castles, mansions and regular homes, that give such a cozy, warm feeling, and they seem to approach things with a more relaxed attitude. As for the soaps, I really enjoy watching old episodes online, because it’s an escape for a few hours back to the better days of when soaps were soaps. I can remember a great deal of these episodes as if they aired yesterday. What i can’t understand is that there are many classic episodes of Another World, Ryan’s Hope, The Bold and the Beautiful, Guiding Light, As the World Turns, Days of Our Lives, One Life to Live, etc., but there are only clips of Capitol and The Young and the Restless. I don’t understand why they can’t post free episodes of these two soaps?! Even though Y&R is still on the air, why can’t they put classic episodes of it, from the 1970s and early 1980s, for free?! Capitol ended in 1987, and that show should have full free episodes. There are some clips of Capitol in English, but very few. Most of them are dubbed in Italian. Then some say that you can watch episodes online for free, and when you go to a certain site or app, that’s supposed to have these episodes available for free, there is nothing there. I just don’t understand why they do that! Anyway, thank you again, Shay, and be well!

I forgot to mention, Shay, that Susan Pratt (Anne, GH) was married to an actor named George O’Hanlon. There was a doctor on GH in the late-1970s, Dr. Todd Levine, played by Craig Littler, I believe. This was around the time when the English nurse Dorrie Fleming, played by Angela Cheyne, was on the show, which was a brief time. Craig Littler played with Susan Pratt, known then on GH, as Susan Pratt-O’Hanlon, in a Saturday morning children’s show, called Jason of Star Command, I believe. In this show, Susan Pratt was billed as Susan O’Hanlon.

Genie Francis was stunning! The first of much better storylines for her I hope. As for Liz & Hayden, I’m thinking they are half sisters with a common daddy in Liz’s father & not Raymond Berlin. Remember how Naomi passed out at the mere mention of Heather Webber & Liz’s father’s mention gave her heart palpitations on the hospital room? This soap is cooking on all burners these days!

Once again, Genie Francis gives a spine-tingling performance. Reminded me of the scene on the dock several years ago when Luke told her Lucky was dead. Glad Genie is finally getting the storyline she has earned.

Also glad Christina and Parker story is being explored.

Pristina!!!!!

Yes, very reminiscent of her finding out Lucky was “dead.” By the way, she should have gotten an Emmy for that performance. “Good things come to those who stand and wait.” And, oh, my, has she waited!!!! LOL!

All I could say was wow when I watched. Genie is phenomenal! About time the writing has gotten better! There are real quality actors on this show capable of great things if they have the proper material. Finally worth watching daily again. Great job to all

Years ago when Lucky “died” Laura was awesome. I cried with her just like yesterday. She is amazing! I love Genie and Laura. Finally, the old Laura is back!!!

Long may she reign! Kudos, Genie! We all love you.

Genie Francis… You did it again girl!!!
Once more you proved that you are one of the top rated
Actors in the soap world!! Your performance Friday
Was tremendous and wonderful! You are a great actor and I am
Very happy to see more of you on the show. I can hardly wait for Monday!!!

Genie was great! Maura was amazing the whole epsiode was amazing.. This time last year GH was trash with the dumb storylines but kudos to Jean and Shelly they have proven me wrong so far with good stories loving the whole cast on the island is great move. Tired of sonny running port Charles doe do miss when the jeromes were after him he needs so competition ASAP. But overall great episode and way better this year than last.

Genie was amazing…I am so happy she is back. Finally GH writers giving her a meaty story and her chemistry with Jon is off the charts…loving them. And the cliffhanger we were left with…amazing…this is why I fell in love with Soaps!!

Yes, yes. And the chemistry IS off the charts–so real and unforced. Two consummate actors–giving great performances.

Mr. Fairman, fridays episode w/ Genie Francis was a standout, but you didn’t even mention thursdays episode wish had some highlights itself, the first one being that Liz and hayden could be sisters , wish would make hayden a webber and part of a legacy family. (will jeff webber make an appearance if the future) i also enjoyed seeing lucy and scott in that episode, and i’m loving the match up between franco and liz, they have so much chemistry. then although i never liked the carlos character, Dr. Joe Rivera popped up as his twin, i can buy that, he’s really handsome w/ his suit and hair slicked back, a 100% improvement plus he’s a doctor tie to GH. So friday was great too along w/ the great Genie Francis finally shining through.

Absolutely, aria. If Joe joins the GH medical staff and sees Julian, all hell may break lose. Imagine if Dr. Finn will not need carry out Sonny’s death sentence reserved just for Julian? Dr. Rivera will do it for him, no strings attached. And, no one will be the wiser.
And, yes….Jeffrey Parise looked polished and handsome….what a transformation! I love what’s to come. I have that much confidence in this actor.

CeeCee…Sonny didn’t tell Finn to kill Julian. Sonny suspects (correctly) thst Julian gave himself some medication (that’s what Julian’s underling brought him) to simulate heart trouble. Did this to avoid prison. Sonny wants Finn to make sure he doesn’t do this again, give him a clean bill of health so he can go to the arraignment and then jail.

@Rebecca.
Yes, I realize what sneaky Julian did. But, I also thought that when Sonny told Finn to take ‘CARE’ of Julian, he meant to kill him.
I probably misread the whole incident. So, by ‘ taking care of’, did Sonny mean for Finn to make sure that whatever went into Julian’s body, an anecdote would follow? Ok, I get it. Thanks.

Antidote; not anecdote. Wow!!!

It was sort of a play on words CeeCee. Finn also thought Sonny wanted him to “take care of him” in the murder sense. Sonny meant literally “take care of him” as in somehow get to consult on his case…take care of him and make sure he’s well enough so he can’t escape his arraignment or prison. Sonny wants him behind bars…

Although I am no fan of Julian, Celia, and never will be, it just angers me that Sonny has the nerve to judge others on the show, and wants to play God. Who is Sonny to talk about others, with all the murders he has gotten away with?! He killed A.J., because he misunderstood, thinking that the letters AJ, that Connie wrote in her own blood after Ava shot her, meant A.J. Quartermaine, but instead of really looking into this, and not assuming before he really knew, he committed an unnecessary murder, went to jail for it, and then because he grabbed a bomb that Michael had, trying to save people on the Haunted Star, and threw it in the water, all of a sudden, he’s a hero, and the idiot governor pardons him. C’mon! Where is Michael’s head at?! He was getting very close to his biological father, A.J., whom Sonny killed, and Michael forgives Sonny?! Where is Monica’s head at, as well?! Why didn’t she press charges against Sonny for killing her son, A.J.?! Sonny is behind evil things as well, and makes others do his dirty work, so he stays “clean,” and these people, like utter fools, do Sonny’s bidding, and they end up going to jail, and Sonny remains free. Case in point, Sean Butler. Then, what really gets me, is that these people who go to jail because of Sonny, have nothing against Sonny, and are all fine with this. C’mon!

Michael…so many of us feel that way about Sonny! The smug grin, the superior attitude…If possible I think Carly is even more obnoxious! Lol…the two of them talk about and judge the other characters…Franco, Alexis, Liz, our dearly departed AJ 🙁 … It’s galling! And some of us have expressed our fury at how Michael forgave Sonny for murdering AJ..after a brief ” time out!” He shouldn’t have forgiven Sonny even if it didn’t culminate in murder…what about the years of threatening AJ??? Hanging him from a meat hook, poisoning Michael against him, Carly setting AJ up to appear drunk when he wasn’t…what about TAKING him from AJ and forcing him to sign over his parental rights…they totally kept AJ from seeing Michael! And now, to a lesser extent, they’re trying to do the same thing to Ava! Let’s all have a collective screammmmmmmm!!!

@Michael.
Hey, Michael,
I have run out of adjectives when describing Sonny. However, everyone on these boards knows my feelings for mini-me, Corleone ‘wanna’ be.
Everything you said, Michael.

Thank you, Celia, for agreeing with me on Sonny and Carly! I’m so glad I’m not the only one who feels this way! What Sonny and Carly need is a good swift kick in the (pick any part of the body). They are both beyond obnoxious, as Rebecca said. Why did Michael forgive Sonny for the murder of his biological father, A.J.? Michael is such a little lap-dog/idiot! What about Monica? Why didn’t she press charges against Sonny for the murder of her son?! It’s absolutely disgusting all the terrible things that Sonny and Carly have gotten away with through the years. These writers will always let them get away with everything, which is beyond appalling. Sonny and Carly should just mind their own business, and stay out of other people’s affairs. After all, thugs and sluts who live in glass houses, shouldn’t throw stones! LOL! Hope all is well, Celia!

@Michael
Ohhhh, Michael….there’s a Sonny or two on every soap. Look at Victor Newman. He gets away with EVERYTHING. Just once, I’d like to see their ilk get their just desserts.
Thank you, Michael….all is well.

Oh, yes, Celia. Victor Newman makes Sonny Corinthos look like an altar boy. I would love to smash both characters. Always getting away with everything, and then judging others. What nerve. Such hypocrites. Carly is just as bad. Nikki is a total moron who keeps forgiving Victor and going back for more, and remarrying him, for what? The millionth time?! I’ve honestly lost count. Nikki deserves everything she gets from Victor, because she’s always so naive to him, and never ever will learn! LOL!

Aria…I don’t think it would make Hayden a Weber…it might just mean Hayden’s mother had an affair with Liz’s father which IF this is happening at all would make them half sisters thru Hayden’s mim.

That’s sort of what I said the other day. Naomi cheated on Ray Berlin and was pregnant with twin girls (Liz and Hayden)…..where in turn, she ‘ceded’ Liz to the Webers. They could be full sisters. But, your versions makes more sense.

It sounded more like Naomi had an affair with Jeff Webber this would make Hayden a Webber I didn’t get no implication that Naomi is Liz mom but that she hooked up with Jeff and had Hayden.

Aria…hmmmmm. Interesting take. That would mean Hayden will no longer be known as Hayden, daughter of Raymond Berlin, master of the ponzi scheme! Lol…not sure that’s where they’re going but I think you’re the only one to come up with that twist…

@Aria.
That’s possible, as well, Aria. We shall see see.

Thank you so much, Rebecca, for agreeing with me on Sonny and Carly. I just would like to smash the two of them. Sonny calls Julian a coward, yet Sonny lets everyone do his dirty work, and comes out smelling like a rose. If that’s not a coward, I don’t know what is. The same with Carly. They are the town thug and the town slut. These writers will always let them get away with everything. Michael is so dumb, to forgive Sonny, and I don’t know why Monica didn’t press charges against Sonny for the murder of her son, A.J.? Enough is enough! The ones who do Sonny’s dirty work, are true idiots. They end up paying, and Sonny remains free. Case in point, Sean Butler, who is still in jail for being Sonny’s little lap-dog. LOL! All of a sudden, Sonny and Carly have morals. Yeah, right! Give me a break!

I am not a fan of Hayden. TPTB just seem to plug her into all of these stories, into scenes with legacy characters, hoping that the character will take off. I just don’t see the appeal.

Loved it that TPTB apparently “heard” us when we raved about Parise’s performances. A keeper–another professional showing his wares.

I thought that Genie Francis performance was awesome, some of her best work. She always been an good actress… love it love it love it… The scene with Kristina not so much. I think that the age difference had a lot to do with it. She looked like a child engaging in inappropriate behavior with an adult. And I just don’t enjoy Ashley Jones playing this role, when I see Ashley Jones I think of Bridget on the B&B. For what it’s worth a ll the actors and actresses really with in on Friday… Great Show.. can’t wait until Monday

Genie Francis has always been great. For decades she gave gut wrenching performances like when they thought Lucky had died but Tony Geary got the Emmy. At last she can shine on her own and proves why GH was number one in the heydey and she still can bring it and bring up those emotions that soaps are supposed to be about.

BEST PERFORMACE GOES TO GENI FRANCIS AWESOME JOB

I’ll second that emotion!

I hate Christina’s story. Why make Parker an older Woman? The whole thing is just gross.

Hi, Fanny….how are you?
This is so strange because I have been thinking of you lately….and, here you are!!
Many have been asking for a gay storyline, Fanny. I am okay with it. It’s real life. But, as yourself, I don’t like the age difference, myself. We shall see.
However, for some reason, I think Kristina is better off with Parker than ‘ I don’t trust you, Aaron”. Something about that guy.

Parker should have been a man. Sick.

I don’t mind age difference relationship stories as long as everyone is of age and wanting to be there. But, lol, Chrissie and Parker just really made me cringe…I said this on another post and a few agreed…they looked like mother and daughter to me. Really don’t like this pairing at all.

I also think Cristina’s apparent bisexuality came out of nowhere. As a young girl she was boy crazy. Unfortunately she was badly abused and seemingly searching for male approval as she felt unloved by Sonny. Wasn’t true,. He loved her but Alexis gave Sonny limited time with her…fearing for her daughter’s safety. But my point is she never showed any confusion or attraction to girls…

Although a bi or lesbian story is relevant, Chrissie didn’t have mommy issues…she had Sonny issues. It would make more sense to me if she brought home a much older man ala Sonny. Lol, as I debate myself, Sonny and she have gotten closer so she wouldn’t crave male attention like she once did.

Bottom line for me? I like Aaron and would prefer to see her, finally, in a fun, happy relationship. Parker? Don’t see it…though Christina and Valerie would look cute together… if that was a choice.

You know, Celia, Parker on GH, is played by Ashley Jones, who also appears from time to time as Dr. Bridget Forrester, on The Bold and the Beautiful. Also on B&B, are former GH stars, Scott Clifton (ex-Dillon Quartermaine, Sean Kanan (ex-A.J. Quartermaine) and Rena Sofer (ex-Lois Cerillo), who plays NUTJOB Quinn, on B&B. LOL!

@Mary Temple.
Hi, Mary,
Many share your sentiments, even in this day and age. It is what it is.
I am just wondering what our reaction would have been if Parker had been a man…..much older than Krissy. He, as her professor, would have been maligned to no end for using this much less experienced, younger woman as a ‘play-thing. That would have been the reaction.
Some would have probably gone as far as calling him a pedophile, albeit Kristina is in her majority.
I am really nonplussed at this turn of events, not the gay part, or the age thing; but, just the fact that, Parker as the ‘adult’ and the ‘professional’ professor, behaved in a disrespectful manner. That is, taking advantage of this young heart. I understand the student-teacher link is no longer there….still, in that respect, I also find it “gross”, and “sick”.
I can certainly understand that the writers are mimicking life, as this happens all the time within academic institutions; so, I cannot be a hypocrite and ‘aghast’!! LOL.
My point is, when there is a certain line that is crossed; we all jump on the band wagon….especially if it goes against our principles.

GH runs a little behind on their current events storylines. Hayden and her dad with the ponzi scheme. Bernie Madoff. Pristina (Parker & Kristina). The movie Carol: The Price of Salt. Older/younger woman. But there are all types of relationships out there. Just watch an entertainment news show. Mick Jagger and his 29 year old gf. Mick, by the way, is 120 years old. Ijs.

@Letmeatc8ke….Well, GH has its own “Mick Jagger” (paternally speaking) in Sonny!!!! He’s now up to AT LEAST 4X4 status, with the likely possibility always left open for previously unknown—and future—children to up his seed-spreading score. Plus, given that he has somewhat less mileage and is of younger years, I have no doubt that Sonny will equal—and perhaps even surpass—“Sir Mick’s” amazing fatherly feats!

Hello, Fanny! I just mentioned you to CeeCee a few days ago, even though my post failed to make it online, and now, here you are! Hope you are well….I find that that the entire Kristina storyline has been botched from the beginning of her reprisal in the form of the current actress. Given that the last time we saw this character she was a foxy, fully mature female who was fully into the guys, there seemed to be no true rhyme or reason for any of these sudden changes to her sexual predilections. It were as if the writers were simply making up her physical whims as they went along to see what would plausibly stick. The whole Parker thing materialized out of thin air, and made no sense other than with the explanation which I first posited months ago, that this regressed woman-child was desperately in need of a together maternal figure—one most obviously quite unlike her own mother—to provide the affection and guidance she was so clearly craving, and Parker provided that. Once her shocking behavior caught the momentary attention of real said mama, the urge for Parker appeared to abate….hence the pivot back to the male species!!!! Now that the “substitute mother” has returned, and voila, at a most propitious opportunity, given the utter mess Alexis has once again made of her own life, Krissie has fallen back into her previous habit of filling that security void left by her less than stable home environment. It’s not such a far-fetched notion, particularly when you know darn well if Parker had been a man the first thing to come out of a lot of people’s mouths would have been the words, “Daddy issues!” As far as CeeCee’s assertion that this storyline is reflective of real-life as far as the professor-student dynamics, she is correct….this hackneyed scenario is as old as time, but it still doesn’t make it right, no matter the genders of the parties concerned….it’s just wrong and smacks of distaste. Having said that, if GH were so hellbent upon this theme for an arc, it should have been with two appropriately age-matched adults….I believe I’m not the only one who seriously—or otherwise—has proposed that Alexis would have made a perfect partner in this Sapphic pairing, since it’s certainly not unheard of for women of certain years to throw in the towel on men after so many disastrous attempts at a successful relationship. Now THAT would have made sense!!!!

Ihave watch her from the teen years great actor an outstanding perforance i use to run home just for her and luke now almost 60 years old she still bring out that spunk she always had

Genie, you are a spectacularly talented actor and I am overjoyed that you are finally being given the material you so rightly deserve. Mr. Valentini, keep this up. More Laura! Long live General Hospital!

And it CAN live –IF Genie gets to show her stuff more and more. I’ll say again how much TPTB are wrong to dismiss their most loyal, longstanding fans.

I was blown away by GF in this episode. She’s not been given something that has allowed her to really show her acting chops in some time, so this was a treat.

Kudos to the rest for a great Friday show!

Looks like Kevin got shot in the shoulder he will be fine and sorry this guy is a bust I am about as scared of him as u would be a fly swat him!

kKay…Scary is not his strong suit. There’s enough of the high adrenalin guys on GH. But he is attractive for other reasons…smart, charming, caring. And he did step in to take a bullet meant for Laura. Reading the room situation like he did pre-shooting is more his game. Wish Laura had kicked Valentin in the balls before he shot her, or at least punched him out …sorta like Ava. And I’m not a very violent type person.

I was disappointed doesn’t mean he is a bad actor just was not rattled,

Rose, I think k/Kay meant Valentin is not scary to her…

Shame on you kay. KIDDING!!!!! I love Kevin’s quiet charm. He is good looking for an ‘older’ gentleman; tall, easy-going personality….perfect for Laura. They look good together.
….Rose: I am not a violent person either….but, I would love to smack some choice characters around to next week.

Sorry I was talking about the actor who is playing the newest Cassidine I adore Jin Lindstrom I apologize for not making myself clear. I was expecting big things from the actor who is playing the newest Cassidine a little dissapointed

Did you really say “older”? Wow!
And, fyi, Genie Francis (Laura) is not “old,” either. 🙂 🙂

@ nancy dillingham.
Please, nancy…’gimme’ a break. Are we back to bickering? I have better things to do than start another melodrama.
I did not call either Lindstrom or Francis old. I said he was older. …which he is. To me he is….He is not an elder gentleman; but older one.
I refer to my Dad as older. He’s 58. He’s not younger, but older.
I beg you not to twist my intent.

LOL, Kay….there was a bit of vonfusion. Sorry! Nonetheless, I was kidding.
I think Kevin put his Psychologist’s cap on….ergo, the seemingly indifference to the events. But, Laura outshone everyone in the room….Ava was upstairs , at the time.
But, now that the confusion is cleared, Kay. I do agree with you. I expected Valentin to ‘sprout’ horns at any moment. He doesn’t even seem to manhandle anyone, either….well, he’s a coward; he either just shoots at people or has his henchmen take care of the ‘messy’ parts.
His cowardice is especially shown when trapped…he tucked his tail between his legs and fled…. stupid ‘wabbit’. Love the actor, though!!

Should have been Michael Muhney!

MM is done in daytime I was not there but they destroyed him sad great talent

MM is done at Y&R, for sure. I hope those allegations, and thats all we ever heard, allegations hasnt ruined his DAYTIME career! What a talent!

Ahh, Timmmy. I hear you!! We will never know….sad.

Geni Frances was ar her best when she told Valentine off I love Geni she showed everyone you can’t be Afraid of getting in someone’s faces about anything no matter how a fraid you are I am getting tired of all this gay crap and Julian needs to pay for killing 2people I can’t believe they are dragging this out sent him to prison already I feel so bad for Alexis what he did to her was not right and Kiki want in the world would she go back to Morgan put her with Dillon they look cuter together please please bring tristen Rogers back I think he is great what ever happened to the good old days on gh .

As for Genie she looks radiant and happy I have no idea what they are doing over there TC wins an Emmy and they can’t give him a contract?

GF was great. Loved seeing Laura passionately defending her first-born. Also appreciated this regime actually allowing Nikolas to do something heroic (but, of course, it had to be when the sub was playing him. Sigh). Looking forward to Tyler’s return, but I can’t figure out how they’re going to explain his surviving this latest “death” (knowing Jelly, I’m sure it’ll be really contrived).

I actually thought Emme (Lulu) was very good even in her smaller role. Just found her very believable. Why we had to hear 18 hours of directions in the escape plan is beyond me. Lol…my head was swimming after the first round!

Exactly. Why???? Go to the pantry. Take the first door at the end. Close the door. Take a left and another left and then a right.
Yeah, I like Emme too. It was fine until the skeleton. That just sent me into peels of laughter.
I know it was a prop to make us gasp in horror; but, sadly, it had the opposite effect on me. Go figure.

Was that really part of the directions verbatim because if so I’m impressed. I stopped at “take.”

Was the skeleton well-dressed? Maybe it’s Helena. Lol…

ALL HAIL QUEEN GENIE!!!!
Knocked it out of the park. As of late it’s been Princess Maura, but the queen lives. Long live the queen!

I know, Letem, I have taken Genie unto my heart since her short stint as Genevieve on Y&R. I did not know her before that. She is the real thing, in one talented package.
But, Maura West is simply a ‘different sorta….kinda’ actress. Maura is indisputably the quintessential femme fatale. That ‘come hither’ look must kill men. As a woman, I take whatever probable devastating affect ‘this’ type has on men for granted. I don’t know…,
LOL, my husband said Maura West “oozes honey”. They both hail from Boston, so, he’s partial.

🙂
I’ve been a fan of Maura’s since her days on As The World Turns. She always brings it. ALWAYS!

I really like that description–“a different sorta. . . kinda” actress. Too much, for my taste. Not believable for one minute. And what a deadend character.

In all of 20 seconds, Genie gave the performance of a lifetime. If they just let her anchor this show it would get back on top again. She grounds the show and truly IS General Hospital. She will always be the heart of this show so… let it beat.

Love it! Genie–“always the heart”. . . “let it beat.” On and on . . .

Genie Francis was amazing!!! Friday’s episode reminded me of what a gem, what a talent she truly is! I see a Daytime Emmy in her future! Stunning! A job well done!!!

From your lips to God’s ears (or to the voters) re Emmy for Genie’s performance.

Genie and Maura were awesome, both separately and together. In the final sequences where Ava had to tell Laura about Nik there was a sympatico connection that, if there hadn’t been any words for MaWe to say, you would have understood what she was telling her. That’s quality acting from two luminous veterans who make every thing they do crackle with energy and urgency. I’ve never cared for the work of the recast L so she’s a non entity here.

Ashley Jones and Lexi Ainsworth are both capable and winning actresses but there’s something a bit off with the mix. On paper the scenes are sensitively written and the acting from both is sincere and committed. Visually LA has such a youthful appearance even though I believe she’s in her early 20’s. Her Kristina doesn’t “look” like her backstory from a few years ago when Lindsey Morgan was playing her. I don’t see a Kristina who went through a Las Vegas wedding and subsequent kidnapping by Trey. LM seemed to have a more world weary, jaded approach to the role that struck me as more mature. That’s not a dismissal of LA who I’ve always enjoyed for her great rapport with NLG, HP and KeMo whenever the Davis coven has been on screen. Having said that, it’s still early in this story so I’ll let it play out.

Genie is simply the best! So happy she finally got some material to sink her teeth into. Laura is the heart and soul of GH. Hope TPTB are finally going to let her anchor this show!

While the writing continues to be lackluster, the performances on Friday’s episode showed why Laura and Ava should ALWAYS be in front and center storylines instead of Sonny and Jason.

I can’t dredge up any interest in the Parker and Kristina thing. This “story” only gets airtime every six weeks or so and if Kristina really is a lesbian she’ll most likely end up off-camera hanging out with Brad and Lucas — unless Parker turns out to be the daughter of a rival mob family (and even then the story will be all about Sonny).

As for Lulu, I’m guessing she’ll find the secret lab where Helena used her egg to create a daughter with Stavros (which would have real story potential if Ron Carlivati were still headwriter instead of Jean and Shelly).

Genie did a great job. Reminding of the work she did when Laura learned Lucky was burned in the fire. Laura should be the centerpiece of the show just like Luke was.

She WAS the centerpiece–even BEFORE “Luke and Laura.” Remember her performances when she killed her mother’s lover (accidentally, of course.) And remember how young she was when she played those scenes. And remember also that when she came to GH she had only ONE other actor experience–on the show Family. Mindblowing, isn’t it?

She is proving herself worthy to be praised. I’m sure Abc is watching

Exactly, @nancy dillingham! Even though Genie’s earliest appearances as Laura pre-dated my GH viewing, I do remember when I became aware of her, and she really was one in a million!!!! She had a self-possessed presence and poise that belied her tender years, and could always hold her own against any of her senior cast mates. On top of that, she had a really natural quality about her in that she absolutely radiated warmth and personality, yet was never contrived or prone to overacting….in fact, she could be very effective in the most understated and restrained manner in her role as Laura. All of these admirable traits are still quite evident in today’s Genie Francis, but to have seen them in someone so young was really so unusual and unique. Perhaps that is why hers is still the gold standard to which I hold all other GH actors, and why I am so often disappointed as a result!

Thursday ep: HUNK alert (s) Ric Lansing Yowsah he has raised the bar that much more… with his natural “gray” hair…. WOAH

GH… let him wear those black glasses… just to stir

J&S if you ever , your person… fall in love with any one… that you write for.. this is IT

WRITE WRITE WRITE… he’s amazing

i’m still holding out hope… since GH holds so much stock… in Laura Wright… that the only character who is her match…. OUTSIDE OF Ingo Rademacher…. is Rick Hearst

Hunk Alertsssss LOL Dr. John Rivera … (Jose) I love how one of the posts… directed us all… it’s all in his eyes… YUM… i’m going to eat this up and feast… had to go their

FRIDAY ep”

Ms. Lexie Ainsworth. (Kristina) Period. she’s still leading the pack… what a delightful scream

3 anecdotes:

1. “The Best Day of My Life”
2. “I think I finally know the difference between making love and having sex”
3. “I felt something I’ve never felt before”

Parker and Kristina are beautiful

it was breathtaking to watch these two woman interact

THIS is so much coop… that I can’t believe the good fortune GH has… with this trio

Kristina w/ Parker w/ Aaron

dang it ALL… I’m in

it’s a conundrum that i’m on equal footing… just excited for the solid acting and the CHEMISTRY that these three generate.

AS for…. the quip above… that Sonny is finally sidelined… roflmao I’ve got more to say on this

this is GOLD congrats to Lexie Ainsworth, Ashley Jones, John Deluca

the thing that I want to point out… which is nothing more than a plot point to help out Alexis

all the above transpired after Kristina and Aaron bonded… right?
she shared with Molly.. but other than that… this drawn out play with Parker was sublime… this trio deserves that much more REEL, splash, and angst

Dillon / Kiki : don’t they define the cutest together… and that’s not bubblegum… HOT

Kevin / Laura : the first thing that came to mind… “wracked with sobs” how could you not take leave and go with Laura as she let go her LOVES for her children… specifically Nicholas and has to be… the dashing smoldering… I love him.. Dr. Kevin

these two… Laura and Kevin… are CLASS Act

Hamilton Finn : i’m just not caught yet… is he a drug addict ? a highly addictive draw?

!. he’s much more interesting than Silas
2. he smiles a lot more… and that’s pause and catch.. because of those ginormous BLUE eyes
3. he’s much more talkative

yet he’s not bonded yet with any one .. I like the quip and share with Tracy

meh on Hayden… it’s like the writers are trying every thing… they can to light up Hadyen.. it seems to “forced” that Finn and Hayden would go their… ???

I guess I have to accept the fact that it will be revealed that Hayden and Liz are half sisters… i’ll leave it at that… till “their” mother REELS a little bit more.. after all those anxiety moments with faint

WAY OFF BASE : ( TMS ) too much Sonny… for REAL ? Sonny is “snowballing” or tit for tat… getting FINN to help him with Julian… seriously ? it gives me the impression that perhaps Michael Easton character is not on for the long haul… at the expense of MB ? no way

PLUS… he already finds out that Kristina may or may not be bisexual… or just dang it having FUN… OK.. ease up…

does any one else notice that everything is write with the world… till the characters of Sonny / Carly / Jason / Sam… get involved and it all spirals ?

A WHOLE ‘nother LEVEL : high brow much to do dream on the best they’ve got

Ava / Valentin / Nicholas

these three actors are in a whole ‘nother arena… dream stuff

go for it Maura West , Jeffrey Patrick Stuart, Tyler Christopher WOW

Stand outs : Dr. Joe Rivera, Ric Lansing, Kristina , Parker, Valentin, Ava, Aaron

GH has all the requisite for smolder

PS i’m tuning in for the dance of Franco and Liz as well

is Kristina going to find out she’s pregnant… by Aaron

and this is what “helps” her mother Alexis.. because she lied to Julian that she’s pregnant ?

and this is what stalls… Kristina with Parker

you know… it’s FUN to watch story begin… but when the show has to wreak it by featuring in and around Sonny / Carly / Jason / Sam…. it all spirals to heck and back

i’m just saying… the writers could have drawn it out… stretch… let them play, explore,

for Sonny to find out that quickly

IT was a dream to watch Kristina and Parker… let alone ubber hottie Aaron

Love it, Patrick.
The prospect of a pregnancy hadn’t even dawned on me. Good one!!
I think TPTB may want it over with Kris and Parker….that’s why the rushed ‘discovery’.
Good ole Sonny. Again his celestial qualities never cease to amaze, albeit I must admit he handled his ‘talk’ with Kris famously.
Aaron? I don’t get him….not yet. But, I am guessing that’s exactly how the ‘biggies’ want it. Good guy or bad guy?
I doubt they made their minds up as to what to do with this character.
A coffee stand? Seriously?

My god, that final scene on Friday’s episode when Laura blew up at Valentin, that was as good as it gets from Genie Francis. Like another poster said, that was a master class is acting. Finally, finally, FINALLY, what everyone has been waiting for, the writers gave her some emotional material to sink her teeth into, and remind everyone why she is one of the greatest actresses in soap opera history. I literally got goose bumps. I said to myself, there’s my Genie, she’s back! I know you can’t win an Emmy from only one scene, but that was most definitely Emmy quality work.

Loved that entire episode. A number of great performances. Already talked about Genie, can’t forget about the incomparable Maura West. I’m loving James Patrick Stuart as Valentin. He’s certainly not your run of the mill, dime a doze, cartoon villain. One of the best Friday cliffhanger episodes they’ve had in a long time. I don’t care what the ratings are, whether they’re up, down, sideways, whatever. That doesn’t matter to me, ratings go up and they go down. GH is firing on all cylinders right now, in my opinion.

“Greatest actress in the history of soaps”–bar none.

I wouldn’t go that far but I like her a lot. She exudes “genuine”. Laura is the character we root for. She’s down to earth… of the more realistic characters that makes her relatable.

One of the more realistic…if not THE most realistic character…

@Dan…..As an actor, James Patrick Stuart is displaying the right stuff as the vile Valentin, but in terms of how the character has been written and thus, presented, I’m a tad disappointed. I always envisioned this most lethal of Cassadines as a charming, charismatic psychopath clad in a Savile Row suit and French cuffs. (Very European, mysterious, sophisticated….and taking his own sweet time in revealing his true identity to the unsuspecting people of Port Charles.) To say this “Casual Friday Cassadine” hasn’t met my previously imagined expectations is a bit of understatement, indeed!

Good show today but I like most of the acting as I watch most everyday. Is Nicolas really dead though?

I don’t think he’s dead Jane. A few of us think there might be the real Nicolas and an imposter…and the imposter is dead! Actually, I think Rise thought of that first. We shall see…either way I’m sure Nuc will he back. Ummmm… I hope!

Maybe that’s what Helena meant when she said Laura would find something she thought she lost…

Lol…Rose not Rise…Nic not Nuc

Genie Francis was amazing in these scenes and I laughed to myself, about her not wearing waterproof mascara. I remember way back when, watching a lot of old scenes on YouTube and the streams of black mascara running down her face (during crying scenes). I miss the old days of General Hospital. Unfortunately, today, the actors, characters, and storylines do not interest me. I still watch and catch-up when I go home for lunch, but I do not DVR the show and really, am just bored to tears most days (watching it).

LOL about the waterproof mascara.

yeah the dramatic intensity …

the only other actress that comes to mind was Linda Dano from Another World , she played Felicia Gallant

Patrick, my aunt, my late dad’s sister, knew both Linda Dano (Felicia, AW; Gretel, OLTL) and Robin Strasser (Rachel #1, AW; Christina, AMC; Dorian #4, OLTL; Hecuba, PASSIONS). They both used to shop at Loehmann’s, the well-known woman’s clothing store, where my aunt used to work. My aunt said they were both very nice ladies!

That’s so funny, dmr….lots of black tears, back in the day? I thought it a very effective way to show Laura cry out her pain ..black tears and all. It made it more real.
Waterproof mascara doesn’t do the job as well as regular ‘fat lash’ mascara. LOL.
I said practically the same thing about the most stories not holding my interest . I enumerated them. But, I like the reborn Hayden and Liz ….looking forward to the upcoming ‘mother’ revelation.

I don’t know why… Linda Dano was the first actress that popped in to my mind… after reading your post

Another World… ranks right their… with THE BEST I call it and will continue to … the sophisticated ONE

As the World Turns… complete

All My Children… first heart tug.. and forever

could go on and on

Linda Dano rung out heart after heart

anyway.. it gave me pause

I LOVE youtube for airing all the RIP serial

I can go their and LOVE all this stuff over again

I wanted to go their find my reason for thinking Linda Dano

I think a thread every other month or so… should be about posts that catch our attention… or threads

the first one I watched about Linda Dano

I was floored… !

roflmao … all good

“The character of Donna love Hudson… is now being played by… Anna Stuart”

PLUS: I got to see the so beautiful… Sharlene Hudson… knock me out

you get my drift

Nancy Lee Grahn’s Star-Studded ALS Fundraiser Reveals “I’ll Be There” Video Featuring Soap Opera Notables

Talk about your impressive line-up! It’s a soap fans dream and for a great cause. General Hospital’s Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) is prepping her one-night only ALS fundraiser which will feature many of her friends and co-stars.

The benefit is set for May 4th in Glendale, California. Slated to participate are Genie Francis, Jane Elliot, Peter Bergman, Maurice Benard, Eileen Davidson, Thorsten Kaye, Michelle Stafford, Stephen Nichols, Rena Sofer, Jason Thompson, Kelly Monaco, Melissa Claire Egan, Maura West, Kristina Wagner, Gregory Harrison, Trevor St. John, Kate Mansi, Kirsten Storms, Cynthia Watros, and many others.

On Wednesday, Grahn took to her social media and released an “I’ll be there” video shout-out featuring, Monaco, Elliot, Bergman, Bernard, West, Harrison, St. John and more. In a touching and important moment in the new video, Michelle Strogny, who is battling ALS, is featured.

Photo: ABC

Previously, in speaking with Soap Opera Digest on the impetus of the event, Grahn recalled, “I was actually doing Zoom events during Covid and I met this woman that I just fell in love with, Michelle Strojny. At the time, Michelle had been living with ALS for four years. Now, it’s five years. She is a mom of a teenage son, she has the most wonderful husband, and she has been dealing with this [disease] for quite a while. And obviously, there isn’t a cure yet. It’s not survivable yet. But as she says, it’s not incurable. Nothing is; it’s underfunded. But anyway, I just really dug this woman. She is so grounded and filled with grace, and she spends all of her time working to raise money for the cause. We did a fundraiser for her last year and then I thought, ‘You know what? The soaps don’t ever get together to do something for charity.’ Collectively, we have this amazing community and we don’t collectively use it for a good cause, and I think it’s such an easy thing for us to do and we could potentially really make a difference.”

As GH viewers know, Gregory Harrison is playing the character of Gregory Chase, who is also battling ALS in a touching storyline that is currently playing out shedding a light on this disease.

For information on Nancy’s event, including the stars who are s scheduled to participate click here. To purchase tickets to the event click here.

Check out the video featuring Nancy’s friends and co-stars below.  Now let us know, your thought son the line-up for the benefit and helping raise awareness and funds for ALS research via the comment section.

‘General Hospital’ Writer Shannon Peace Let Go, and Shares on Sprina: “One of My Only Regrets is to Not Have the Opportunity to Develop That ‘Ship’ Further”

As General Hospital’s new head writing team of Elizabeth Korte and Patrick Mulcahy gets off the ground and running, there are still changes a foot on the writing team.

Now comes word via breakdown writer Shannon Peace that she is no longer on contract with the long-running ABC soap heading into its 61st season. Peace shared a heartfelt message on her Instagram, thanking the fans, and the show for the opportunity and the importance of diversity in the writers room.

Peace began, “After almost 3 years on staff and 106 episodes penned, I am no longer on contract with General Hospital. Writing for this country’s longest running television serial drama has been an education of epic proportions; I will forever be grateful that I earned my WGA card on a daytime fixture that holds memories for so many.” (Peace pictured below with GH EP Frank Valentini and script writer, Charlotte Gibson from about ten months ago).

Photo: SPeaceIG

Shannon added “Even more importantly, as the sole Black breakdown writer (and only POC in the writers room) during my tenure, I pushed for vital interactions and discussions that prioritized inclusion, visibility, and representation”

The writer pointed to the example of vital interaction when in story, “Stella and Portia’s frank July 2022 conversation about the role race played in Esme’s framing of Trina is just one example of the impact I’m gratified to have had.”

Acknowledging former GH co-head writers was also part of Peace’s farewell expressing, “Appreciation to my former bosses, Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor – not only taking a chance on me, but for valuing my opinion and championing my voice.”

Courtesy/ABC

Many GH fans know that Peace was key to the development of the love story between Trina Robinson and Spencer Cassadine as played by Tabyana Ali and Nicholas Chavez. Shannon gave a special shout-out to ‘Sprina’ fans, “I also want to thank fans who were supportive of my work, especially the recognition of my love for ‘Sprina’. One of my only regrets is not having to develop that ‘ship’ further.”

She concludes her statement with,”In the aftermath of a historic writer’s strike that shed new light on the troubling ways writers are regarded in daytime, my sincere hope is that General Hospital recommits to valuing staff writer efforts and input, with a more intentional focus on diverse viewpoints — and thrives for another 60 years.”

Accompanying her post, Shannon added, “Thank you all for the love and support these last few years. I hope GH fans get all they hope for and more!”

So, what do you think about GH not renewing Shannon’s contract? Will there be more continued changes afoot? What do you think is the future of ‘Sprina’ anyway at this point as viewers wait to see if Nicholas Chavez officially returns to the show?  Comment below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Learns Britt Died and Tells Anna He Has Been Working For Cates Since November 2021

On the Tuesday, March 26th of General Hospital, Anna (Finola Hughes) and the viewers learn about where Jason (Steve Burton) has been for over two and half years. However, Jason gets some news of his own.

Anna is visiting Jason at the PCPD interrogation room. She asks him if he shot Dante (Dominic Zamprogna), which he flatly denies. Anna believes him, but she tells Jason it doesn’t matter, because video footage shows him on the roof at the time of the shooting

When talk turns to Jason not willing to speak without his lawyer present, Anna can’t grasp why Jason would instead spend an hour alone talking with John Cates (Adam J. Harrington).

Photo: ABC

It is then that Anna brings up that John went by “Jagger” and that the two of them knew each other in high school. Jason doesn’t recall much of his time in high school following his brain injury, but then he gets furious realizing John knew about “Jason’s” past. That is when Jason slams the table and tells Anna, “I’ve been working for John Cates since November 2021.”

Next, Jason explains further that he has been working as an informant for the FBI. Anna wants to know how this came about and he tells her that after the tunnel collapsed, and he couldn’t make it to Britt (Kelly Thiebaud)… all of a sudden he sees Anna’s face drop.  Anna is the first person to tell him that Britt died and was murdered. She tells Jason the killer is in custody, but he continues to be shocked, overwhelmed with tears welling up in his eyes. Realizing he has to pivot to save his life, Jason continues telling Anna how he wound up working with John.

Jason explains that after the tunnel collapse in Greece, FBI agents grabbed him and placed him under arrest and took him to Quantico where he met John. At Quantico, John played a recording of RICO violations and offered Jason a deal if he agreed to be an informant against Pikeman, the illegal arms dealer.

Anna hears from Jason that he thinks Pikeman is selling illegal arms to anyone flagged by the NSA but has ties to the WSB which they needed a civilian to infiltrate their organization as a military soldier, a mercenary.

Jason tells Anna he was a part of the team brought into eliminate Sonny (Maurice Benard). Every time an attempt was made on Sonny’s life over the last two years, a different team was sent to do the job. Anna gets furious when she learns that John told Jason his job was to kill Sonny and she was with John at the warehouse that night. Jason ensured the sniper missed Sonny and left the rifle behind. However, they were supposed to meet an extraction team. Before he was shot, Dante saw it was Jason on the roof and when he turned around with his hands over his head, Dante was shot by the other guy. Jason says if Dante dies, he’ll be charged with capital murder and then will be useless to the FBI.

Photo: ABC

Meanwhile, John visits Bobbie’s and runs into Carly (Laura Wright). She learns Jason is in custody and is going to head to the PCPD. Before she does, Carly has some words with Cates when she learns not only does John have a vendetta against Sonny, but Jason too.  Carly tells John he should recuse himself from the case.

So, what did you think about the moment when Jason learned Britt died? What do you think of Jason’s return storyline thus far and what we learned about Jagger/Jason and more? Comment below. But first, check out a moment from today’s GH with Jason and Anna.
