General Hospital Scores 2nd Most-Watched-Week in Over 2 Years in Key Demo!

Courtesy/ABC

The Young and the Restless is not the only show to have an extremely strong ratings week ending October 20th! According to ABC, General Hospital delivered its 2nd-most-watched week in well over 2 years in the key Women 25-54 demo!  And the show continued to be strong for the 9th straight week in Women 18-34 and in the number one spot in that demo!  Looks like Robin’s (Kimberly McCullough) return to the canvas, and all the events surrounding it are clearly paying off for GH!

Here is the official summary of the numbers from Nielsen via ABC, “General Hospital climbed to an over 2-year high in Women 18-49 (745,000/1.2 rating) and delivered its 2nd-most-watched week in well over 2 years in Women 25-54 (960,000/1.6 rating) – since weeks of 9/26/11 and 8/15/11, respectively – ranking a solid #2 in the demos and was the #1 program for the 9th straight week in Women 18-34 (254,000/0.8 rating).   Furthermore, it climbed to a six-month high in Total Viewers (2.821 million) – since week of 4/8/13.  General Hospital  improved over year ago levels by 11% in Women 18-49 (745,000 vs. 672,000) and by 17% in Women 25-54 (960,000 vs. 819,000).”

So it looks to be a very good time for soaps as we head into the crucial and all important November Sweeps period!   What do you think of General Hospital’s performance over the last week?  Do you think with the big ratings period behind us, GH will score in the top spot of all the key female demos? And what about the men? What show are you watching?  Let us know!

The show has been “must see TV”. I love the stories…all the former cast and stories being blended into the new. Btw I thought the Heather, Lucy and Scotty scenes were so funny…the three of them have such comedic timing…give us more Ron and Frank.

I enjoyed that scene too, and hope the 3 work together again in the future…i wonder if Heather got her disguise from the same disguise shop where Dr.O gets hers…

What I want to know is where Dr. O. obtained that oh-so fab and fashionable black croc tote she used to stash her disguise and weapons of mass comas….wonder if it could have come from that same high-end handbag shop in Switzerland that left “The Oprah” in such a snit????? As Britt pointed out, the stylish scientista does have money!!! LOL…..

I hope Valentini is cluing into the meaning behind this……fans love theScorpios!

Hear hear! The Scorpios-Robert and Robin, Mac, and Anna Devane (Scorpio) are all on fire! And the evil comedy pair of Cesar Faison and Liesl Obrecht are the best super villain duo ever on daytime TV, even better than Mitch Laurence and Allison Perkins.

I have to admit that I love most of GH these days, but the when the focus is on the Jeromes, Morgan and Kiki and Michael, Franco and Carly, I will fast forward or in the case this week skip those days.

Agree totally on the Franco and Carly piece, and Michael and Kiki are beyond boring now that they’re in happily ever after. However, Morgan and the Jeromes were fabulous today! As were Robin and Faison, Britt and Nik, Robert and Anna.

The show is getting better and better.

Although I wish they would resolve their contract issues with Genie and Tony, if only to give us a decent resolution to LnL. Even to be done with it after that.

You are FF past some very exciting good stuff …

I agree with su0000 100%…

Well deserved!!! Still think it should be numder one!!! Love GH!!! Love the great legacy characters getting more play!! It truly is must see most of the time!!! Thanks GH!!!

Which legacy characters are getting more play exactly?

Welcome to the Scorpios. Goes to show you. Give the fans who they want, and your ratings will go up. I am not happy about more mobs, but I just DVR and can FF the ones I don’t like. The week -one day I watched real time .If I never see Scummy, Carley, Franco, Luke the new mobs I am fine.I know we have to wait for sweeps ,so the conclusion of Robins abduction will be she sees all and cannot tell she4 is alive. get on with it. Oh yes also here the he !! is AJ ?

Jill Farren Phelps, if you can take a break from killing “Young and the Restless,” please tune into “General Hospital” and take notes.

This is how you do daytime drama … and don’t alienate long-time viewers.

No. I want JPP to stay at Y&TR. Gh is great these days w/o you. Steve Burton can also stay at Y&R too. We are better at GH w/o you.
.

I agree! I don’t understand all the people clamoring for Jason to come back. I never got the love for that character. He was always so rude to Alan and Monica, who wasn’t even his birth mother but raised him and took care of him. And why is it every time he was in the hospital for some brain-related issue or another, he was allowed to wear his black t-shirt instead of a hospital gown?

Josh….are you actually suggesting that JFP look around and take note of her mistakes????? She is in this business since the 70’s….if she was going to learn from past mistakes….don’t you think she would have done that already?

I don’t care for Michael and Kiki. Trying to justify that Morgan did wrong for keeping her real identity from them makes them the victim is stupid. He only did that because his brother was after his girlfriend and couldn’t be trusted. Trying to make stupid out of the viewers in order to put them together is insulting. Although this is not real life, these things in real life happen and no one would say it’s ok for a brother to go after a brothers girlfriend or wife and them play them as the victims is not realistic. My friends and I will not watch any part of the show that involves Kiki and Michael.

2 good actors wasted…

The show has been incredible! I’m excited to watch it EVERYDAY!! I feel like it’s been November sweeps for the last 2 weeks and it’s still October!!

Totally must see TV. Better than anything on nighttime tv. I still hope Spixie get their baby back. Gp GH

I hope Maxie & Spinelli get their baby back.. I can’t stand LuLu these days. Saying it’s her baby, her daughter , and isn’t giving her up. She has a sad awakening coming. LuLu is oppessed …Don’t care for her much lately…

I call Lulu, Shrewlu, because she has become such a bitch, a shrew. I always love to see Jerry Jaks, robert, and Faison. I hope Ron writes it that spixie get
Their baby. I also hope that the Britch baby is 1/2 hers and 1/2 Dante. Now that would be interesting. Love GH these days.

@mary… I love the “ShrewLu” label, too, as do so many others….it deliciously defines the role: girl has gone from 0 to 100 as lame, but basically likeable, to absolutely beyond insufferable….cannot imagine how she’ll ever be able to get back into the good graces of the viewers when this babymamadrama finally ends. JMB definitely could have pulled off the range of emotions and their nuances that Lulu has experienced over these past many months, but sadly, ER as NuLuLu never achieved those necessary shades of gray. Thus, I see this character/actress continuing to struggle with finding her place and fanbase. As for Britt’s baby, I am still holding out hope that it will actually be her biological child, and that she lied to Faison simply to get his goat….in terms of the real father, there could be numerous tantalizing possibilities if dear “mutter” provided the ” paternal DNA” via her vast collection of past patients. With her Swiss House of Horrors, she had access to many fine specimens, including a Quartermaine, at least one Cassadine, possibly a Jerome, not to mention Scorpio and Duke. Who knows of what and from whom materials she availed herself???? Would be rather awesome if Britta’s offspring is related to Prince Nicky…..would provide yet another impetus for their union.

Can’t wait to see more of Anna and Duke, with some excitement and reminiscing about the past. Their love is the very best!!!!!

Use the Duke character better.

GH is GREAT right now! Has been since Robert woke up from his coma and Robin became a contract player again.

I love the days of the week where we have Robert, Anna, Robin, Cesar, Lisl Obrecht, Jerry Jacks, and Luke. And even the Jerome stuff has grown on me a bit.

Some of these actors play the best crazy I have ever seen!

On the coming attractions for Gh’s Monday episode you see ROXY! I wonder what will be going on with that. Roxy is a BLAST!

Is she going to be Roxy from OLTL or Delia from Ryan’s Hope. Either way, Irene Kristen is great.

YAY!

Yes, it is totally about the Scorpio/Devane shows, the fans want them! Having Dr. O has given some comic relief. I also do not care about Micheal/Kiki/Morgan.

I would rather see Molly, the long lost Kristina, and wrap up the AJ story.

GH is the best and always has been!

Olbrecht & Faison are awesome lately…keep them going (not to jail) I have watched GH since the beginnings with my Nana, it is great……Can’t wait for Patrick & Robin to reunite…his connection with Sabrina sucks. Hope Robert sticks around Lulu has turned into a whiny shrew with no fashion sense….hoping though that Britt’s baby is hers & Dante’s since Britt has already said Ben isn’t hers …..keep up the good work xoxo

Yes, Dr. O. must be kept on the canvas at all costs….even if they have to dip into the Anthony Geary slush fund to do so…..sorry Luke, you have been uproariously upstaged and her name is Liesl Obrecht!!!! It is high time for this Valkyrie-loving vixen to assume Helena C’s mantle as GH’s resident “Madame Kryptonite,” the irrepressible and impossible to vanquish villainess of venom. As the glittering Germanic glory, Gati is wickedly worthy, the height of wight!!!!

LOVE LOVE LOVE GH!!! Been watching for 30 years
And I won’t stop no matter what! But I must say I
Am THRILLED to have Robert back and to see Robert
and Anna back in action! It’s just killing me that they just
missed Robin! Waiting for robin to reunite with Patrick
and Emma!!!!!!! At first I wasn’t sure about Morgan
but his acting is def growing on me! Very real! Keep
up the good work GH!!!!!!! Now if Steve Burton would return all
will be right in Port Charles! 😉

I am a man and have watch GH since it began………..love what I see a mix of excellent actors and a good storyline dictate a excellent return for Kimberly/Robin. To bad the writing was not as good for Genie Francis’s return…………good storytelling for good actors mean a ratings hike and talking for more people to watch………..also advertisement as Brenda received in 2010 can do it too…….keep up the good work GH and please try to do it for all cast……….Love Robin and her return…..
