GENERAL HOSPITAL: Will The Port Charles Earthquake Cause A Seismic Shift To The Couples On The Canvas?

Friday’s cliffhanger of General Hospital brought with it plenty of the shakes!
Just as people were positioned in proximity to one another who were arch enemies, or former lovebirds, the Port Charles earthquake began to play out putting lives on the line.
Let’s take a look at what we know thus far: Josslyn (Eden McCoy) and Oscar (Garren Stitt) are trapped in the ice freezer at the Floating Rib after stealing a moment alone in the middle of the “alternative dance” they were hosting when the quake erupts. Inside the ‘Rib’, former flames Drew (Billy Miller) and Kim (Tamara Braun) end up together when he grabs her to save her from falling debris and the quake. Bets are these two will certainly ‘bond’ over trying to rescue their son, Oscar, once they realize he is MIA. Will Drew recover a missing memory of his that triggers some feelings for Kim?

Meanwhile, Sam (Kelly Monaco) who left Drew as a chaperone at the “alternative dance” heads to the Quatermaines to pick-up Danny, and who is there? Jason (Steve Burton)! As the quake begins, Jason grabs Sam to save her and to help her take cover. This will leave these two alone, and perhaps trapped together. Will this be the trigger to rekindle their romance, or will they both continue to fight their feelings?
Then there is Michael (Chad Duell), who before the quake told Jason that if anything was to happen to him or Nelle, he would want Jason to raise their unborn baby. Why did Michael say that? Could we lose Michael? And as fate would have it, Carly (Laura Wright) and Nelle (Chloe Lanier) are together duking it out in their verbal sparring when the earthquake begins. Will Nelle go into premature labor? Will Carly help her? Will something else horrible go down?

Finally, we saw Franco (Roger Howarth) struggling with the horror that he may have pushed Drew down the stairs as a child confronting Jim Harvey (Greg Evigan) at his construction site. Franco missed his wedding to Liz (Rebecca Herbst) in the process. And even though Jim says he can confirm that Franco threw Drew down the stairs since he was there, Franco believes there is more to the story and Jim is lying. And BOOM! Earthquake! These two will be stuck together, most likely. Will Franco finally uncover the long buried truth, or will Harvey perish with some secrets? Many questions to be answered next week on GH!

Would like to see some real Jasam feelings happen. And Drew to at least start remembering some of his past. And evil Nelle to come out on top and actually marry Michael. And Laura to return and be sent mysterious clues to end up finding both Lucky and Nicholas and bring them home.

The earthquake will jar Drew’s memory, Phyllis…..could this be the reason for the quake?
A more significant question would be: was this a bonafide earthquake or did the Harvey-minions ‘stir’ the sleeping monster?……what caused the rumbling ‘neath the the surfacce—-is there a gold mine down there in which they blasted?

The cause of the earthquake will most likely turn out to be Jim secretly “fracking” pocket of natural gas which are beneath the Charles Street area. This destructive & toxic process has been causing dozens of earthquakes in recent years, in states not previously known for earthquakes, as opposed to the West Coast of the US, or other nations around the Pacific Rim where quakes are common occurances, due to natural geological movments beneath the earth’s surface. (Or “ceiling rumblings”, as we call them down here in Hell.)

I believe there is oil under the property they are fighting over.
I believe the delicious delight Jim Harvey caused the quake and I just hope Amy is crushed by a steel beam!

Hey, CeeCee…I smelled this anti-fracking storyline a mile away and stated so in a previous post to you, which I guess you failed to receive, as it didn’t make it online….. As I previously mentioned, the gold you to whih you referred was actually “Black Gold, Texas Tea”….and the next thing you know, Old Jim’s a billionaire! Yep, that was the method to his madness all along. As for those who were skeptical regarding earthquakes in the East, I’m sure you are aware that they have happened in both recent and historically past years long before fracking ever took place….I recall hearing about epic ones in Boston in the 1700’s, NYC in the 1800’s, and numerous incidents in locales such as Canada, Pennsylvania, Michigan and even Ohio, Indiana and Illinois, hence they really are not that rare in the Northeastern quarter of the US. At any rate, I’m finding this entire storyline a real yawner, since it appears that it will have no real consequence as to culling the GH herd, which is what a good soapy natural disaster always should do!

Yes, earthquakes happening in the East may be rare, but they have happened, do happen and will happen again….learning more and more about the history ( geological, and otherwise) of our country, and the world, is a passion for me—my brain is like a sponge, LOL… I think you get it, as I know yours is, as well.
I have yet to figure out the reason for this….at first, I thought it would be to eliminate characters.
I will not check the mishap off, though….as mediocre and repetitious this disaster appears, I strongly feel that this ‘earthquake’ happened in order to catapult both Franco’s and Drew’s to regain their memories. Also, I think the bigger reveal will be ( as I have indicated ) that Franco DID NOT push Drew down those infamous stairs. Harvey did. He never tried to help Franco as he was trapped under that weightless piece of tin ( Ha!), nor did he come back with help. It seems that Franco’s mind is gaining lucidity …..he is remembering the sequence of events causing Drew’s fall.
Franco’s complete redemption is alive and kicking, Shay. HaHa!!
PLUS: I agree with those fans who think the reason for this sort of unnatural quake was to bring Drew and Kim together….likewise, Sam and Jason. If that is so, all I can say is GOOD!! I want to see how Jason and Sam interact….hopefully no thumb-twiddling from boredom while watching, as with Sam and Drew. Poor Billy—I have yet to come to grips with the change in him. I want my Billy back!!
By the same token, if Steve’s tenure is a short one, what happens to Sam when Jason leaves? Will he fake-die, again! LOL.

Oh yes, CeeCeeGirl, we do share a keen interest in history, and I have to say mine has been awakened now more than ever by those who seek to obliterate the past from our present with revisionism and the destruction of cultural/national symbols and landmarks….I believe all vestiges of what came before us need to be preserved for future generations….the good, the bad and the ugly, since as Santayana so presciently observed, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” As for this earthquake business, it really was quite lackluster in terms of both drama and spectacle, especially with no deaths in the offing….color me disappointed! I’d had such high hopes! In other words, GH let a good tragedy go to waste! I have to admit, I was gratified to hear Sam finally profess her love for Jason…if only Anna had been in Finn’s close proximity at the time, we could have had a similar outcome with them both blurting out the truth of their not-so-secret attraction and not a moment too soon! I must admit, I was more than a bit thrilled when Alexis walked in on Kim and Julian’s little moment…how I hope that they have a hot fling, since I am so not into Drew with her! I still would like to see him reunite with Liz, which looks doubtful given that Franco is still in her good graces…hey, it’s showertime! (I’m just thanking my lucky stars that it isn’t Alexis lathering up with someone in that locker room lovenest….Lol.)

See, Michael is a milksop…..mama’s boy; no matter how TPTB try to show his ‘manly’ independence. He completely gave in to Sonny and his mother for killing his father….no, Carly may not have pulled the trigger, nor did Michael, but completely disregarding this fact, makes both Carly and Michael unscrupulous low-lives. Plus, Michael is a Q, not a Corinthos….everytime he refers to Sonny as, “my Dad”, I cringe.
Michael should honor his real name by using it; considering he is ELQ. ….sort of hypocritical, I’d say!
I do think Nelle loves Michael, albeit she is soooo misguided…..too bad, he csn’t see it because of his mother’s influence. And, Michael is no saint.

What I think will be nice is it true starts to remember things and his feelings for Kim starts to surface. Jason and Sam reunite. Franco and Elizabeth get their happy ending and it turns out that Franco is not as bad as he thought he was. I haven’t hopes for Nelle Michael deserves better so I either hope that the earthquake makes her get out all her animosity so they could be together or she has the baby her story line ends Michael and Kiki or someone worthy of him praise the baby and he has someone who he can live happily ever after with. Enough disappointing relationships

I have this feeling that Harvey pushed Drew….or grabbed Franco and as he swung around, Drew accidentally went flying down the stairs.
Young Bobby had the look of terror in his eyes as he saw Harvey’s BIG feet descending the stairs. His little face looked haunted to me…..he saw Harvey as the giant monster with two heads. I think Franco blocked the most significant part of what truly happened.

Well…it would been more exciting had they killed off half the cast…i would had tuned back fr that!!!!!!!….i heard Carly causes Nelle to miscarry…Micheal breaks off ties with his mom and becomes a cue.then asks Nelle to marry him-could just be a rumor that i started-lol

Laura and Lucy were supposed to open a Deception Spa back when RC was head writer. Supposedly budget cuts precluded creating new sets at that time, so it was forgotten and both Genie and Lynn (both recurring then) left for a while.

I do not mean I’m right, of course, but something does not jive…..especially if Heather is involved.
So, my friend….you do make a good point. Harvey may, very well, turn out to be Franco’s father. Would Harvey hurt him?
I hope the writers come up with a better story line in that. It’s always a predictable storyline since they use it so frequently. This time if she has a miscarriage I hope for once they’ll do it in more realistic way. Michael has been through enough and he doesn’t deserve any more disappointment. I wish he can meet someone will take his breath away and one who will feel the same way without any games. Personally is probably his best interest that she has a miscarriage or I complicated pregnancy where she’s no longer part of his life. I hate to wish death on anyone but her storyline is useless and I’m so disappointed that her character win that direction
I had enough of this Franco pushing Drew down the stairs story. It has been given more air time than it deserves — first off Franco should have trusted Elizabeth and just told her what he feared instead of assuming she would just walk out on him if she found out. His keeping it a secret just makes him look pathetic and insecure. But the real waste of time is we all know in the end the writers will make Franco innocent, so why did we have to watch months of angst to find out, it was big bad Harvey who pushed Drew down the stairs. At this point if Franco died in the quake, it would be us and the character out his misery

Absolutely, Mary, but that is but a pipe dream, and we both know it….along with any hopes that Ava, Julian, Alexis, Nina, Jordan, Aunt Stella, Peter or Nurse Amy will be going away any time soon! I suppose we should thank our lucky stars that Laura is safely stashed away in Paris with Spencer or the evil showrunners may have decided to make this beloved character the big casualty of this storyline! Given the current state of this soap, we must thank God for small favors….
Honestly, Mary! Who didn’t push their younger sibling down the stairs when they were three years old? Or lock them in a toy box? (shudder!). I mean, can they think of something more sinister with which to taunt Franco? Franco is New Coke Light, and maybe Kevin can teach him a thing or two about brilliant psychosis 101 with tales of his brother Ryan, Coke Original. And yes, I know, I know, Franco didn’t really do those normal things siblings do to each other, he was merely trying to protect Andrew from big, bad Harvey. And Shay, what a waste of an earth quake. Not one of the characters you mention above perished in the quake. It was so anti climatic it was enough to make me wish Sparkle Pony had come galloping back to life only to be squashed by a boulder before she could announce her resurrection.

I must say… I was taken.. with the stairway scene between Franco and Drew. it was jarring

4 things about the “earthquake”
1. Rebecca Herbst RUNG IT HOME. it was so romantic as she tells Kevin… she will stay @the church… because Franco will get their. ( I was in tears ) I LOVE MY LIZ. it was the one tender scene outside of the quake. perhaps that meant any thing ? she’s so beautiful.
2. another touching moment… dag! when did Oscar man up.. as he drew Josslyn in for a kiss in the freezer. did they do the same thing as did Maxie and Nathan… as Josslyn already shared.. she’s tired.. and did she nod off with her head on his shoulder…. HELP .
3. just props to Max Gail. sharing scenes with Sam and Jason. do we have to imagine.. what Mike would have been like with a clear present mindful being ? he just seems like he’d be the best dad…. a formidable reckon. just sharing laughing dancing being sexy. his smile is all we get right now.
4. OK .. not that I’ve seen too much “bonding” they should have played out a little bit longer… for the angst and fear to really set in… WITH Kim and Drew… over their son. I’ve fallen for Kim… so whomever TPTB. ugh , right ? writers block much ? Kim and Julian… Kim and Drew…. this is the gold
MOST embarrassing scene… for the love of God… Yeah, ALL principal players are alive and well… and it was all for naught. Michael Corinthos is not dead . Michael you are so uninteresting. hopefully you and Nelle hit the road. Just leave

Yes, Mary SF; agree. It’s obvious that Harvey was abusive…probably terrorized both boys and made some type of threat to Franco’s mother; send Drew away. As for Bobby/Franco? He subliminally knew he was close to his “brother” when they were little which is why he’s held on to the rabbit’s foot for all these years and why he painted the picture of the two of them…which is also why he probably thought he was a Quartermaine (thought he was Jason’s twin). And now…Betsy’s had to twist the tale again so that the truth about Harvey’s abuse doesn’t come out.
But…is the Faison/Drew story connected to the Harvey/Franco/Drew story? Here we have three men who have lost their memories in some shape or form:
Jason lost his Quartermaine memories in the car accident.
Drew’s memories were stolen from him
Franco has been lied to and emotionally manipulated and has blocked out trauma
Franco and Drew were close; either one was always targeted and the other was the protector or they both protected each other.
I differ than you in that I’m loving these stories; love Franco and really want him to marry Liz and reconcile with Drew. I think it’d be interesting to see how men who hated each other come to remember that they once were close and loved each other.
it’s very interesting… HOW Drew and Jason are so sure about ONE thing. and 1 thing only . ok that’s stretching but nonetheless…
when it comes to Franco….. they just “hate’ him.. and want to avenge the people he’s hurt , so much so, that Jason would have left Franco their stuck at the construction site, had it not been for Sam… saying it’s better if he’s alive and telling him that he should be reminded daily of all the atrocitites that he wrought.
even franco tried to explain again.. how he had this tumor and didn’t know what he was doing.
which could go a along way… in helping this story along.. and it’s just ( which is really sad ) if Drew memories come back to validate Franco. that it was abuse at the hand of both Betsy AND Jim.
makes me want to cry. these two young boys.. who were powerless… hence the “fighting” which was protecting each other.
LOVE your last para… which goes along with what I posted ^ above. HOW in the stairway… both Franco and Drew “clung” to each other… perhaps not fully understanding and didn’t vocalize what happened… but spoke volume.

Gotta say, I can’t bear to watch the show anymore. GH is so harsh and angry. The show really needs a softening. I’m a 35+ year watcher and I don’t keep it on. DOOL is the better show.
I don’t watch either–not since Genie’s last appearance–and I’ve watched since first episode of GH lo those many years ago! Can’t bear it without Genie.
An earthquake? Seriously? That is the only way they can bring Sam and Jason together? SMH!! I love watching Carly and Nelle fight it out. They have huge chemistry together. The show has had moments of late but they really need to build more stories. Right now, we have gimmicks and that can’t last forever. Kudos for a great episode on Friday.
Agreed, Mateo…Carly and Nelle can really put on ‘them’ gloves…enjoy every minute of their sparring, albeit, it is kind of disturbing how Carly digs into pregnant Nelle—-the baby does feel stress.
For someone who professes to love her own ( her unborn grandchild), Carly is, surely, not following her own credo.

Julian and Alexis will have their closeness time
and Lulu will be a pain in my azz trying to be a reporter
Jordon will rescue Curtis from a crashed jailcell
Curtis will be saving people.

Well, I for one am glad this cliffhanger was predicated upon the wrath of Mother Nature rather than predicated upon a rain of bullets.
I actually did not see this coming so good on them.
And now for yet another hilarious, albeit unintentionally, hilarious moment–the sight of four foot Lulu in six inch heels wavering around as if she were doing the hula hoop. I replayed that moment about three more times and just when I was done with the hilarity ensuing, the previews come on and there she is again–Lulu, long hair flying in a swirl around her trying to refrain from toppling over in her six inch heels. Bah ha ha ha!
Why was that sight so side splittingly funny? I have no idea but I do have a new nickname for Lulu—Lulu Hoop.

I forgot to give praise where it’s due….I may be bored here and there, but Max Gail deserves an award for demonstrating what acting is all about…..so natural….the fluidity of his movements; the dismayed look on his face, searching his confused mind for the next word, pulled me in……I am so taken by him, I can’t get enough. I appreciate him now, more than his role on BM, forty or so years ago.

The ultimate…Jason with Sam and Drew with Kim. Memories restored. Nelle gets what she deserves, baby survives. Julian and Alexis reunited. Elizabeth fogives Franco. That would be a perfect ending to all the turmoil!
Every time we hit a dull patch, something blows up, gets derailed, burns, quakes, etc. It wouldn’t be a respectable soap otherwise. The JaSam thing is way too obvious, even for their fans. But I’d like to see Drew and Oscar bond more, so what the heck. Shake, rattle, and roll.
Poor little Oscar….Soaphound, did you hear his pubescent voice break?–little squeak came out as he was pounding freezer door, screaming for help. Awwww….
I knew you’d catch that, Celia. How adorable is Oscar? I will say that a diehard romance with 15-year-olds makes me uncomfortable but who could resist puppy love? One more thing– Drew will be rescuing Carly’s daughter tomorrow and by next week, she’ll stab him in the back AGAIN by touting her JaSam obsession. Guaranteed!

They both hold their own with the quirks and antics. So much fun watching these brilliant actors like Lucille Ball and husband. Keep these two together, lets watch as they fall in love with each other. It’s over for Julian. Can’t forget he tried to kill her and drove her to the shell of the strong woman she is. She needs laughter.

They have a great rapport and I’ve said the same as you…quirks…they’re both sarcastic, witty, clever…professional and neurotic! Now when Anna and Finn had their epic Christmas argument, that was banter! Besides, when emotions are so deeply felt, they often are difficult to express, even for the most articulate and poised of people…it’s the silent looks between Anna and Finn that speak volumes for me….and they are screaming out to each other!!! As for those pushing a pairing between Anna and Andre, I really cannot fathom such a notion….one hot dance routine does not a relationship make! If this were going on a year or so ago, my judgment of Alexis would have been clouded; because when we are iffy about a character, everything he/ she does gives us indigestion, yes?
Since her break-up with Julian, I have changed my tune where Alexis is concerned. I do agree that she is very volatile—does not practice what dhe preaches….especially to her daughters.
However, it is a mother’s prerogative to ‘straighten’ out her children, especially because of her own mistakes; meaning: a mother, or anyone who cares, does not want to witness her own mistakes repeated in her children.
Anna has no personality, Shay…paired with Finn, we will have another Rafe and Hope; Sam and Drew.
Finn has a sort of a dead personality….for this reason I think Alexis can draw some spark from him….different strokes for different folks.
Believe me, I completely am on Anna’s team….but, I want her to have a MAN!!!! Not Finn, not Andre ( Lord help her…please, not Andre!!)….I was not enraptured by his hips and backside swaying to and fro so sensually ( ugh?!?!), albeit I truly appreciated his style and talent. He looks so stiff, so, it was a pleasant surprise.
I understand that you feel Alexis’ intractable reputation turns you off….same here. Her upbringing was not a safe haven, per se….made one mistake after another….Finn is no prize either, as far as I’m concerned. They will heal together.
Nonetheless, I will not dismiss a pairing between Anna and Finn, completely, as I would between

Although we are both quite passionate in our opposing positions on this particular subject, we still agree on many points….other than our vastly differing amounts of goodwill for Alexis, of course! The utter disdain train left the station for me a long, long time ago and knows no bounds for this exasperatingly obtuse character…it only gains more steam with each passing example of her poor life choices! And yes, the “intractable reputation” as you so superbly put it, plays a great part in my less than generous view of this emotional mess of a woman…hence whilst it’s indeed true that Finn certainly has his own troubled past, I feel like he would be capable of leaving his addictive behavior behind him with the proper mate…someone level-headed and sensible with genuine substance, like Anna, who I do admit has been far too dour in recent years. First; I think whatever Jim Harvey is working on below ground caused the quake.
Second: I think Jim Harvey was physically abusive to the boys (which I mentioned on another thread, as well) and in reality Franco was Drew’s protector ( and perhaps vice versa). Poor Franco; find out soon!
Third: Kim’s hiding a lot…not sure how/why but she has something to do or knows more than she’s saying about Drew’s history/background.
Fourth: Michael’s not going to perish. Morgan is “presumed” dead and Mike has alzheimers. No way are they going to add Michael to the mix…unless that’s the writers way of killing off Sonny and Carly; overwhelming, insurmountable grief! Hmmm…maybe Michael will fall into a sink hole and find Morgan alive and well and the TWO of them get pulled back up!

I don’t think Julian or Drew have fallen for her just yet. Drew is madly in love with Sam (unless that changes when he gets his memories back) and Julian, while interested and attracted to Kim, is still in love with Alexis.
I’m confused about Kim. It can’t be a coincidence that she wound up in the same town as Drew. She must have known about his kidnapping (either before or after) and his change-of-face…not sure if she was coerced or is on the dark side. UNLESS they change direction and just have her as a partner for Julian, there HAS to be more as to why she landed in Port Charles in the first place and what she’s hiding…

There was another earthquake in PC back in 1991. This was during Gloria Monty’s short second stint as EP. She hated some of the sets that were in use at the time (namely the Brownstone and Robert’s office) and used the quake to get rid of them.
A very pregnant Felicia was trapped on the Brownstone stairs when the shaking began.

Yes, my friend….it bothers me, as well, more than I can say. It’s time Nina had her own story. ….showcase Michelle’s talent. She is one of the best on daytime and beyond, regardless of what is said about her. She can bring it, prove her mettle, given the proper and pertinent story.
It is hard, for some, to dismiss Nina’s past behavior—not so hard for myself—she slept for twenty years; was betrayed by her mother and husband; lost her baby in the most animalistic, unnatural and traumatic way possible…..as far as she knows, literally ripped from her body
When all these horrific and perilous happening are factored in, Nina has swum to the surface to make a new life for herself….
Delinquent Sonny, Amazon Carly, Monotone Sam, Re-born Jason etc. suck up most of the time on stage; while this gem of an actress kisses Peculiar Valentin’s ( love him, anyway, LOL) arse….ahem, feet.
Finding out that either Kiki or Nelle, or both ( as fraternal twins), is her child, would make such a compelling story….especially with Nelle, who truly needs guidance, right now. She can ameliorate her persona as much as any other character.
Why was everything Carly did forgiven? From what I have read, Carly slept with her stepfather?
I like Nelle, more than I do Kiki—Nelle needs so much ‘work’ done……a diamond in the rough, whose story needs to be told, as the abandoned girl looking for love anywhere and in any way she can get it ! She, finds Nina, her mother; at last! Yeah!!

I think that in her ‘disordered’ brain, Nina, subconsciously, did to Ava what was done to her. Her actions were twofold: her baby ( or babies) was torn from her belly by her mother…… and, Ava stole her husband. This was Nina’s vindication.
What Nina did to Ava was an unimaginable and inhuman thing to do….but, in her twisted mind, it was an eye for an eye. Justice was done.

I think Franco’s main concern is that he’s not dangerous by nature. He wants to make sure that he’d never hurt Liz’s boys like he’s been brainwashed to think he hurt Drew. He’s haunted by that possibility and that’s why he’s also afraid to tell/marry Liz. He’s afraid she’ll leave him for fear of her boys safety…and he’s afraid that he could. He needs peace of mind. Hope he FINALLY gets it. Although, and I LOVE Franco, not sure if he does find peace of mind what they’ll do with his character. He’ll need a new story/function once his demons are resolved…
UNLESS!!!! Liz leaves him and he freaks out.

Not excited for this latest disaster. The kids in the bar are day players, and Joss and Oscar are not important to me. I’m so sick of this non triangle between Jason, Sam and Drew. Jason and Sam as a couple are like watching paint dry. Just leave her with Drew and let Jason move on. I only care what happens to Liz, Anna, and the Quartermaines during this story.
Last week was devoted to the teen scene and the dance. I’m in my late 30’s, I don’t care to see “Carrie” played out on General Hospital.
@dmr….Especially without an angelic teenaged William Katt-type in the mix! That whole dance scene was a total dud!!! So much build up for what seemed a complete non-event….kind of like this earthquake that didn’t even manage to pick off a few unnecessary characters in the bargain! I definitely feel cheated!
Shay, a total non-event, a total DUD! A lot of hype, much like their 14,000th episode. The earthquake would have been a great way to oust some of the recurring, unnecessary characters out of Port Charles (too many to name).
Tell me about it, dmr! I’m still trying to figure out the whole point of this event, other than to finally get Sam and Jason back together…I guess that alone was worth the price of admission, but I still think all the rest was just much ado about nothing and the waste of a perfectly yummy dress ala Joss!…It would have been a lot more exciting if there had been some dramatic exits for a number of characters who are just begging to be killed and put out of their misery!
Jason & Sam ( Steve & Kelly) should have the family they have wanted since 2005 through
2012. They should have love they bought vow to have when they were married and the family they wanted to have together. They have an amazing chemistry together. Andrew find his place with Kim and his son let Jason adopt Emily as his own.

I’m getting really annoyed at the attitude that Sam and Molly have toward Julian, especially since they both love Sonny and Molly has no problem with her criminal father, Rick, and all he’s done not only to others but also to Alexis. I guess Molly forgot that dear old dad slept with her sister (Sam) and betrayed Alexis WHILE she had lung cancer! And Kiki? What did Julian do to HER? He stayed by her side while Ava was in the hospital…

This earthquake feels like the writing equivalent of “look over there — what’s that?” in the hopes we’ll suddenly forget how boring the show is and that Genie Francis is gone.

Where’s the safety being married to the mob?
All Sam or Jason had to do was grab one of those ‘tubes’ swaying about on the floor and have Jason grab the other end to pull her through….but, no, she had to touch his mighty, healing hand. C’mon!!

What difference does it make. All the soaps do anymore is reunite the same couples day after day. There is no longer and suspense or surprises on soaps. Now it’s like watching a rerun day after day so predicting what’s coming next is as predictable as the sun rising. Of course Sam will return to Jason and Franco will suddenly remember the most uninteresting storyline yet. Who cares what he did as a small boy. The boring storyline of the improvements being made will have an ending. Blah, blah, blah. Tunes in to see the rerun of past shows.
I would like to see Nell go down evil should not prevail. Get Jason another woman. Straighten out Alexis let the memory of Julian go. Bring Laura back and somehow let something happen where she can be the mayor. Please let the new guy who know Franco go down and out. Let them find out about Peter.
If the show were going to take that approach that evil should not prevail then Sonny and Carly would have to pay for their numerous crimes…

Of course GH will get Jason and Sam back together, they have to so they can continue telling the same boring stories they’ve been telling for years. I quit watching GH when Steve Burton return and I will never watch it again. Billy Miller was great as Jason but when the executive producer left Steve Burton claimed that he wanted to spend more time with his family so he left but then he immediately turned around and took a job on Y&R to follow her. Then when he left that show he decided he wanted to come back to GH and the producers accommodated him but instead of letting him be the new character and stretching his acting ability they have to go back to telling the same old boring Sonny / Carly Jason / Sam mob stories that they have done to death! Initially with Burton’s return GH ratings went up but now I’m watching as they slowly start sliding again the fans want something fresh and new they don’t want the same stories they’ve seen over and over and over again but like I said of course GH will get Jason and Sam get back together even though it’s not what the majority of the fans want because they’re afraid to try anything new.
Totally Agree. These forced pairings are so contrived. Why not play out organically what is already happening. Drew and Sam seem to be be genuinely in love – see where it goes. Let Jason reinvent himself (away from Carly and Sonny). Otherwise, reunited w/ Sam, it is back to rinse repeat. Keep Franco and Liz together. Put Kim w/ Julian.

I beg to differ about the first one, Patrick…These past Winter Olympics totally tanked in the ratings, as in an historical low…they weren’t drawing people away from their lunchbreaks, let alone soap operas! I know this was the first time in my life I didn’t watch a single second of them because of the mix of highly obnoxious athletes and uncalled for politics. Oh, well….just another viewing institution to add to the must miss list along with most professional sports and Hollywood award shows, to name just a few. Seems GH is not the only one feeling “the wrath” these days……and deservedly so!

I think you highlight a great point, my friend….perhaps, it may be to graphic and too cruel to introduce the reality of a school shooting to the soaps, but it could happen behind the scenes….without the rif-raf and the destruction.
More kids should be visible…..it would exemplify today’s world and its hardh reality, if done with sensitivity and honest truth.
@Patrick….Curling seemed to be the sleeper hit of these latest olympics…go figure! (And I don’t mean skating….normally, that event is a can’t miss for me, but I just cannnot seem to get into this current generation of ice stars…and that OTT commentary that been going on these past few years by Johnny and Tara makes me want to hurl…don’t get me wrong, I enjoy a good snarking session as much as the next person, but not whilst someone is pouring out their heart and soul in a performance that has taken decades of preparation…it’s just out of place…better for a vlog or late night wrap-up spot. I prefer the views of the true legends like Boitano, Wylie, Kwan, et al….people who truly left their mark on the sport and continued to contribute to it years after winning their medals! As for the school shooting coverage, I never watch GH in real time, so as far as I knew, it was only pre-empted for the one day?

@CeeCee….As I stated, I’ve never missed a Winter Olympics in my life, but before the most recent one even began, I knew that I wouldn’t be watching….it all started with Lindsay Vonn’s nasty comments….and only went “downhill” from there!!! Honestly, the point of this event is to have an international festival of athletics sans the politics, and I’ve never seen a more disgusting display of anything but…our elected leaders and their families were treated deplorably, even though they were only attending in the same fashion as those who came before them…it’s a tradition, no matter who or which party is in office! As for the Oscars and other award shows, the less said, the better….I never have more than the lowest of expectations for the behavior of those involved in them, and yet, they always manage to surpass even that in terms of the depths they will stoop…The only highlight of the evening which I later cared enough to view was Gary Oldman’s gracious acceptance speech for his stunning portrayal of the legendary Winston Churchill.

I’m more concerned about the sets, lol.
They better not permanently destroy the Floating Rib or Quartermaine den.
First they destroy Mac’s house with the Lisa Niles fire. Then he’s replaced at the PCPD, but have him buy the Rib, which dates back to its “Jake’s” days in the 90s. Of course the name is an homage to the fine dining restaurant of the 70s where Susan Moore was hostess. Maybe Frank and the writers wrongly feel that since Julian has a bar the Rib is unnecessary. Ugh!
The Q den appeared around 1990 as an alternative smaller set than the living room/foyer/stairs set. At one time, there was actually another sitting room through the doors under the stairs. In later years, when they didn’t want to spend the $ to assemble the larger foyer set, it was awkward when visitors would go back to the den and say “The housekeeper said to come back”.
Anyway, let’s hope they don’t destroy any of Monica’s house (because Alan gave it to her).
If they were writing this realistically at all, Julian’s bar would be damaged far worse than the Floating Rib. The quake would be caused by fracking in the Charles Street neighborhood, and the damage to the sewer pipes which preceded the quake was no doubt caused by the same thing. Earthquake damage is always worst the closer you are to the epicenter, and in this case Charlie’s pub is much closer than the Floating Rib, the Q mansion, Ava’s gallery or any other set which may or may not be seen as wrecked in the quake aftermath.
@Steve….Are you perhaps a set designer??? This isn’t the first time you have offered an expert’s keen eye with your loving detail of long past gone soap locales and structures….keep them coming!
Not a set designer, but if I get bored with the writing I have to concentrate on something, lol.
I also look at the sets to see if they’re architecturally possible. A few examples:
– Jason’s new apartment has windows on two sides and that opening in the back corner. Unless a spiral stairway is back there, it’s impossible for a room to be there without seeing it through one of the windows on the side
– How are there two elevators in the MetroCourt lobby, but only one in the restaurant?
– Why would Elizabeth buy a house with such a small kitchen? And where is her (or anyone else’s) dining room set?
– It’s long been acknowledged that the hospital has 10 floors. The grand staircase on the nurse’s station set would lead to nowhere or a limited access roof when used for floor 10.
– Nobody has a storm/screen door in an upstate New York town?
– Wyndemere is on Spoon Island. How do people show up unexpectedly at Valentin’s door? Similarly, Monica must have the worst security to have people show up at her door unannounced.

Excellent observations, Steve!!! I guess your “hobby” is the equivalent of my sizing up the wardobes, make-up applications and plastic surgery/botox top-ups of the GH cast…not being able to discuss those here anymore is a real killer, especially some days more than others and for certain characters! But I do hear you on those architectural inconsistencies, as well! There was a time when Windemere was actually treated as the fortress on a remote island that it was purported to be…now people show up there in a split second and apparently without the benefit of a boatride! And security is not at all what it used to be at either the Quartermaines or Chez Corinthos….plus the absence of Alice at the former to guard the front door to “Monica’s house” and announce the Q guests is something to which I still cannot become accustomed…I do wish someone would mention that much-missed woman and find another quirky housemaid if Bergen Williams can no longer fulfill her “Dominator” duties…Then again, given that Olivia is doing all the “dominating” there these days, you’d think she would have something to say about n-action Alice, since she already fired “Cook2!” Lastly, I long ago came to the conclusion that that stairway on the 10th floor of GH only leads to two places…heaven or purgatory…..the latter being the hope where AJ is concerned!
Add Lila’s Rose garden to what is missing. And find some budget or use ABC’s Disney locations for the other adventure sets like Felicia, Frisco, Anna, Robert, etc. sometimes frequented. Then there’s
Wyndemere Castle on Spoon Isand…Beyond tired. I don’t think anythings been done since the Spencer birthday fire.
Also agree with Shay…find a new “Alice.” Some people in mansions, like Monica, shouldn’t be answering their own doors. I always think this when I see Victoria answering her door on Y&R. As for the kitchen…I’d like to see a way Olivia and a cook could find a to respect and work together. Because for Olivia cooking is like breathing.

We all know Nelle is going to steal Maxies baby. That’s a given. So sick of that story line. That just shows the writers don’t know what they are doing. The complete storyline with Jason, Sam, Liz and Drew had been screwed up for very long time . Cameron Mathison Previews New Game Show ‘Beat The Bridge’ (Promo)
As previously reported, Cameron Mathison (Drew, General Hospital) will be seen doing double duty this summer when he premieres in June as the host of Game Show Network’s Beat The Bridge.
Now, while Cameron will be the host with the most, that doesn’t mean he will stop playing GH’s Drew. In fact, Mathison taped the game show in 2023, so it will now air for the first time in 2024.
Taking to his Instagram this week, Cameron shared his enthusiasm and some new hosting snaps, sharing, “Our newest game show host reporting for duty😎 Head over to the Game Show Network YouTube channel for your first look at the show and don’t miss Beat The Bridge premiering this June! I can’t wait for you guys to see this!”

In Beat The Bridge, an enormous interactive bridge dares players to cross by stepping on the right answers to challenging trivia questions. As they play, each steps forward and puts money in their team’s bank, with bonus money for each successful crossing. GENERAL HOSPITAL: Nina Confronts Ava for Sabotaging Her Relationship With Sonny and Signs the Divorce Papers
Looks like Nina (Cynthia Watros) and Ava (Maura West) are back to be each other’s sworn enemy number one. By the end of the Monday, April 22nd episode of General Hospital, the women know where they stand with each other after Nina goes in on Ava accusing her of wanting Sonny (Maurice Benard) all to herself, while her marriage has been on the rocks.
In story, at Nina’s office, Ava shows up to see Nina and says she is sorry about what happened with Sonny and that he reacted the way he did, acknowledging that is was over the top, even for Sonny. Ava says she’ll smooth things over, but Nina says she now understands how manipulative and transparent Ava really is.
Given their horrible history, Nina goes in on Ava and how she should never have trusted her. Nina wants to know how long has Ava had this agenda dating all the way back to telling Nina to turn Carly (Laura Wright) and Drew (Cameron Mathison) into the SEC. Ava says she never told her do to that, but Nina wants to know how long Ava has been playing her for a fool.

Ava says she moved in with Sonny to keep Avery safe and she wants to be on good terms with Avery’s father, Sonny. Nina thinks she likes being in Sonny’s inner circle. Ava tells Nina if she goes to him about her advising Nina to call the SEC on Carly and Drew, it won’t work. Sonny still considers Nina a traitor and he will think she’s lying because she’s so desperate to win him back. Ava says if Nina would stop blaming everyone else that maybe Sonny would respect her. Nina says “like he does you?” Ava says Sonny not only respects her, but he also counts on her.
From there, Ava launches into why she and Sonny understand each other, after all, Sonny is a powerful, turbulent, and sometimes violent man. She goes so far to say if Nina wanted someone to just sit by the fire with and play with their grandchildren, she’s got the wrong guy. Ava then talks about Mike from Nixon Falls (Sonny with amnesia) and how Sonny hid the darkest parts of himself from Nina back then, whereas with Ava they are the same similar creatures, so he doesn’t have to hide anything.

Nina wants to know just what Ava wants with Sonny? What is her end game? Ava responds that they understand each other, in ways she can’t with Sonny. Nina tells Ava she can go ahead and have it all and signs Sonny’s divorce papers. Ava walks out with the documents, while Nina in tears at her desk, takes off her wedding rings and has her assistant come in so she can messenger the rings back to Sonny’s address.

Ellen Travolta Makes Another Return to General Hospital
If General Hospital’s Chase (Josh Swickard) and Brook Lynn’s (Amanda Setton) nuptials are on, you didn’t think Grandma Gloria Cerullo would miss out on the festivities, now did you?
Casting news from Soap Opera Digest reveals that Ellen Travolta is back taping scenes that will air the week of May 13th on the ABC daytime drama series. When viewers learned that Carmine Cerullo, was also on his way back to Port Charles, now in the face and body of actor George Russo, it only made sense that Grandma Gloria would join Grandpa Cerullo. Look for them both mid-May.
As most people know, Ellen is the older sister to John Travolta. She first make appearances as Gloria back on GH in the mid-90s. Most recently, she returned to the Quartermaine mansion to meet up with daughter, Lois (Rena Sofer) and granddaughter Brook Lynn for Thanksgiving in Port Charles in 2023. Michael Fairman TV interviewed Rena Sofer and Amanda Setton late last year where they shared what it had been liking working with Ellen, who remains very close to Sofer in real-life.

Amanda shared: “We fell in love immediately. What’s crazy is my maternal grandmother was Grandma Gloria. I had her till I was 30 and we were so close. She was really like a second mom to me. So, when I got this script and I’m reading “Grandma Gloria”, it was so bizarre. And then in meeting Ellen, she looks like my grandma – same haircut, same high cheekbones. It really did feel like I had a few days with my grandma. It was very, very special for me. Ellen is sweet, prepared, professional, talented and funny to boot. So, it was one of the best weeks I’ve had at work. I hope she comes back. My fingers are crossed.”

Now, we can’t imagine Brook Lynn and Chase’s wedding day to be smooth sailing, in fact, expect just the opposite, but could it be Grandma Gloria who is ultimately the hero or the calming voice of reason for any pre-wedding jitters? Stay tuned.
