Genie Francis Returning To General Hospital!

Hot on the heels of her appearance on Sunday night’s 42nd Annual Daytime Emmy Telecast, soap opera icon Genie Francis is returning to her original soap home as the beloved Laura Spencer on ABC’s General Hospital!
The announcement was first made Wednesday by GH’s executive producer Frank Valentini on his Twitter account when he stated: “Hey #GH fans: I have AWESOME news…@GenieFrancis is coming back to @GeneralHospital !!!”
According to a show rep and TV Line, Genie will return to GH in a few weeks! Valentini then issued this statement: “Genie is a part of our GH family and the door has always been open for her to return when the timing and story are right. Lucky for us, the stars have aligned and we are thrilled to welcome Genie back home.”
Will Laura figure into the next phase of Luke’s (Anthony Geary) road to recovery and redemption after his over year long self-battle with Fluke? In a precursor, Anthony Geary and Genie were reunited on stage on Sunday night and presented the final award of the evening for Outstanding Drama Series at the Daytime Emmys! When Laura was last seen on GH, it was back in 2013 as the character left for France after divorcing Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner).
So GH and soap fans, thrilled to know Genie is finally on her way back to General Hospital? Comment below!
If Tony leaves I really hope they let her usher him out and keep her. She is GH as much as Tony. I hope she will be there a while. I love Genie!!!

Best news ever. I just hope she gets a story worthy of her talents. Laura has always been one of the most interesting and complex characters on GH. There is great potential for a powerful story.
Plus, Laura is the reason GH is what it is–the most iconic soap of them all. She should always be front and center. She is the heart of the show. And Genie Francis is amazing.
Louisa, you said it best! GH is crying out for some positive storylines–and Genie as its heart can give it in spades–IF the writers will rise to the occasion and write mature, uplifting dialogue between her and TG. She was Luke’s redemption once before; she can be again. Let the chemistry reignite, and let’s lift up this sodden soap.
Laura could possibly be his redemption, Nancy. But let’s just leave it at that. She could be his therapist, not his lover…please, ye gods, no love scenes with Luke…oh, my…barf.

When Genie Francis was on Y&R she was FANTASTIC. Seriously, her subtle, gentle and nuanced performance was captivating! BUT, they did not write for her and she exited.
SAME for Maura West and Michelle Stafford both formally of Y&R and subsequently hired at GH.
Now, I realize Genie is the original of GH, but PLEASE GH, write for her and let her talents shine! She will bring you fans, viewership and accolades you will not see otherwise. Genie is brilliant.
The best news ever would be if Geary is killed off and Laura not shed a tear. And remain within the gold.

It’s funny that you should make mention of this subject, CeeCee. A few weeks back, I had a similar observation about Sappy….it was moderated out of existence, but I questioned whether an “instant” and “contrived” foreshadowed fling with Mikey was designed to provide yet another sap to father a little “Sapster,” should a pregnancy storyline of convenience be required. (Needless to say, I certainly hope not! The thought of a Quartermaine heir being brought into the world via this unsuitable miss makes me want to hurl!) P.S. Speaking of previous posts, I did reply to a number of yours and they didn’t make it online….hope you received them in your inbox! One was about your sweet little Rosalba and her proud milestone and the other a less pleasant subject…I’m sure you can hazard a guess! LOL….

You do have a point, in that, Sabrina/Theresa may be with child and this storyline with Michael was contrived for said reason.
As far as Emme, formerly known as Marcey, or Marcy,…..she is more or less my size…I am a bit taller and somewhat more endowed (unfortunately for me) , so a little tummy growth stands out. Perhaps it was my imagination and saw something that wasn’t there? We shall see.

Truly, this is the best news of the day! So, is this short-term, recurring, a one-year contract? Fans like me are longing to know more details.
Hope it’s not a day or three like the warm actress Dee Wallace Stone. What another missed opportunity for TPTB to develop a story between Luke and his long-lost sister. Hope they don’t do a great injustice to Genie this time around like they did before. Hope Genie will stick up for herself and be given the dignity she deserves. I’m waiting–with a bit of hope—still.
It could be temp…the storyline is Laura returns to PC to romantically reconnect with Luke but she really is the evil Flaura…a fake Laura sent by Helene to kill Luke once and for all…thats what the upcoming murder mystery is planned for the show…just kidding…lol…its good to see her back…just hope she returns with a good storyline of her own!!!
Nancy, I don’t mean to be disrespectful but there is no comparison between Dee Wallace Stone’s Patricia and Genie Frances’s Laura.
Laura was a front burner character before she laid eyes on Luke. As much as I like Dee Wallace, let’s face it, Patricia was part of damage control.

Ah, Jimh, when I need a smile I come to this site and look for your comments…I would love to see Genie get a storyline for herself and not just as some prop for Luke or Scott. I don’t want to see her get back together with Luke because Tracy is perfect for him and, as I’ve said before, Jane Elliot is a much better acting/sparring partner for Tony than Genie ever was…(said by the woman who cut college classes to watch special L&L episodes) 🙂

Glad to hear Genie’s back. Hope she stays a while, and has more of a storyline than Luke. Especially since he probably will be taking time off for his yearly summer vacation.
I hope that Laura’s return is well orchestrated, and not some silly ploy to reunite the gross Luke and Laura. Their pairing is wrong on so many levels, and I need a strong Laura who is focused on her children and becoming a stronger woman than some weak shell of herself.
Right on, Scott. Laura needs no one…she can stand on her own two feet . I am really excited about her return. I will be given the opportunity to get to know the real Laura. The only way I can do that is for her to be independent free of any bonds; invisible as they may be.

Take notice of the language. It’s not the door has always been open for her, it’s open when the story and timing are right. So let’s put to rest all the comments we’ve seen about Genie not wanting to be on the show or all the unsubstantiated gossip about family issues etc.
They brought Genie back for the 50th, to use her like other vets, to bring back fans but had no interest in a real story for her or to give her a contract. This is how they treated a GH icon; as soap icon.
But things aren’t going so well two years later are they? The newbies and so called “heavyweights” from other shows aren’t really cutting are they? Ratings are down, and any time they show some improvement or life, it is short lived. Now they’re hoping the Nurses Ball will attract some people, but then what?
So now they bring back Genie, who should have never left two years ago. An actress and a character who should have her rightful place front and center on a show called General Hospital. I hope she’s getting everything she wants, the show needs her, not the other way around. But of course at the end of the day, it will be the same writing team, Genie can only act with what they give her.

Genie is the bomb–and always an incomparable, luminous, passionate presence on screen. And, yes, she was there BEFORE TG and L and L. You are right on, Harry, as usual–I really like your humor.

i agree that FV is double talking in his announcement of Genie returning, its like he’s trying to tell us the only reason she wasn’t on was because the storyline wasn’t there? what is he talking about? timing? is he for real. they sideline Genie and the character for two years, its the same excuse they’ve been using to not give Rebecca a storyline and kept saying the timing was never right, yet kept characters like sam and carly front and center and even in other storyline with other characters so we would have to be force to see them everyday. Its clear FV and RC have their fave actors/characters that they write for, they are doing the same thing that JFP and RG did, write in favor of certain actors and make the other half look like idiots just look at what they’ve done to Anna.

Hope he realizes that a short visit would be pointless. There’s so many avenues the show can take and it won’t be the end of the world if Laura doesn’t reunite with Luke, the characters have proven they can stand on their own, no reason to punish one for the sake of the other. Happy about this but wish that they would give her a better storyline than what will probably be her nursing Luke, making Tracy jealous. I wanted L and L reunite for a long time, but after the Fluke story, no, no, no..
Of course, I’d also hoped that Laura was the one that the “Legion of Doom” reported to, just because it would give her some power and a cool storyline… but I can’t imagine Genie would come back for something that would turn Laura into a villain. Sadly, on her last visit, she was just a shell of her former self. I hope they’ve figured out a good long term story for her. I’d rather not see her than see her in a story that fails her again.

Did you notice how Spencer flew into her arms? That was a truly veritable Kelly–Nicolas moment….what a touchingly authentic reunion. I loved it.

Exactly, CeeCee…..The joy that all the actors displayed for KT’s much-appreciated return was so genuinely warm and believable! Mr. Cooper, Liesl and Spencer seemed just as thrilled as we were to welcome this gorgeous dynamo back to town! I truly hope she can stick around for awhile, if for no other reason that Brad and she are sorely needed to make comment upon the fashion “yays and nays” of Port Charles…we can’t do all the work! However—LOL—just a few quick observations: Anna was as chic and classy as expected, fabulous color for her! Liz was utterly breathtaking….pretty in pale pink, very regal in her Audrey Hepburn-esque mode. Maxie’s dress was truly lovely….just so delicate and ethereal. And, of course, Alexis didn’t disappoint, falling out of her usual far-too-revealing attire whilst sharing herself with the world in all of her “Cooper’s Droop” glory!!!! (God help her…) Last but not least, the truly magnificent Dr. O’s style statement as “The Lady in Red” was totally befitting of her flamboyant image, really unforgettable…..what great fun! KG rocks!

I thought it was a beautifully written commentary on the ladies’s apparel…I even complimented ALL the guys….so dashing and debonair.
My favorites were Maxie’s and Lulu’s. Valerie’s top was simply splendid. However, I thought the motif should have carried throughout….same fabric and, I would have chosen a one-piece in lieu of a two-piece…..mid-drift? Nah! It is just my opinion….if one goes formal, then that attire defeats the purpose. She looked fab, nonetheless. Actually, they all looked better than some thespians on the Red Carpet….kudos.
Elizabeth looked like a princess…but, no bun….too matronly. …..beautiful, nonetheless.
Anna did not disappoint….sedate, yet sophisticated.
I liked Carly’s as well….not outlandish…she has flair.
The juxtaposition of Alexis’s arms and hands pretty much covered what I did not want to see….but, to her credit, the flash that I did see was okay…not the typical…”here THEY are….” The camera barely skimmed over her.
As corny as this may sound, Shay……I really like Nancy. I’m serious. I like the actress. I think you understand, I am not being facetious. But, Alexis, the attorney, should take a look-see at Alicia Florrick/Julianna Margulies (THE GOOD WIFE).
And, as I said above…Lucy blew me away…..I love her style.
@CeeCee…Yes, many of my (even quite innocuous) comments have been falling through the moderating cracks as of late. It has become tedious. Hence, just know that I have not been ignoring you….or the other kind folk who reply to me. I needed a few days off, so I didn’t even try to post over Sunday-Monday….now I’m back! (And I can relate to the allergies….awful, aren’t they?) Anyway, we agree on numerous fashion points. I totally concur that “Princess Elizabeth” was beautiful….I also felt the bun was too severe for her delicate features, but I surmised it was in keeping with the “Audrey” theme….not my choice, necessarily, but RB managed to pull it off. I totally adored the color, cut and fabric of Anna’s gown…..it complimented her well-honed frame and was perfect for her exquisite tango routine. I thought Val-Chops’ croptop was quite cute, too, but the skirt was too LillyPulitizer, luau-themed for me. I hate bright and gauche! I think Maxie could have carried off that tiny top much better on her petite frame, although her dress was simply angelic….really bridal in nature. Loved it! Alas, I found Lulu and Carly’s garb to be a bit akin to beauty-pageant wear…..although the vivid shades definitely flattered their blonde coloring. As for Alexis, perhaps she was not as exhibitionist in nature as usual, but it would have been refreshing to see her covered up for once….most of the other ladies managed to do so. (As for NG….not really a fan. But then, I’m not interested in most actors/actresses as “personalities” so their views and musings outside of the “business” don’t grab me. If they rivet me onscreen, I’m satisfied, and if not, then, whatever. But you are quite right about the wardrobe of “Alicia Florrick” I do not watch “The Good Wife,” but I am very aware of JM’s style, and it is drop-dead professional!) Overall, I found this year’s NB’s fashion extravaganza to be truly disappointing….to me the majority of the crowd looked like they shopped for prom dresses at Goodwill!!! Then again, it certainly paled in comparison to the Met Gala’s sartorial nightmares….what the? That used to be one of the most exclusive, elegant, sophisticated events of the social season, and now it’s been reduced to a reality tv special with each attendee fighting for the “worst-dressed” title! Lord have mercy!

I just sat in awe and amusement as the two of them opined and critiqued the denizens of Port Charles as they strolled the red carpet….it was epic. (But I was greatly disappointed that they had no snarky remarks for Sappy…..) Oh, how we must have this most unlikely but completely in sync duo back in our midst on a regular basis….they just go together, like bread and butter! As for the incredible Dr. O….WOW OH WOW!!!! KG certainly did not disappoint….by the way, were you aware that I actually previously suggested here “99 Luftballoons” as a possible song for Mutter? I had envisioned a much more elaborate production with a huge balloon drop at the end, but Liesl’s version was most satisfying….the outre’ outfit and the popping balloons were just classic Dr. O. flourishes. Touche’ and kudos to KG for once again stealing the show! Can’t wait to see her encore, encore….something heart-tugging, I’m sure! I hope they have a great story for Laura. I hope she’s free of Luke and Scotty and able to stand on her own two feet; a powerful source who stirs story. Genie looked better than ever on the Emmys. It will be thrilling to see her back in PC as Laura and find out what she’s been up to while Laura was in Paris. When the character last left PC , so many story points were left hanging in mid-air, just like this delay about the waterfront clinic ELQ is supposedly building. Hope some things are tied up/explained.
Genie Francis did look wonderful on the Emmys. I would really love to know where she got that black dress because I think it would be perfect for my mother who is the same age as Genie.

That is really funny; I heard they did not get along. When Maura West was on Y&R as Diane (?)-I think, or Diana (?)-the character was not liked either and she ended up leaving in a short amount of time. Luke and Laura were before my time, as well. I do remember them returning with Lucky in the 90’s-when Luke had his night club (loved that club) and they were entangled with the Wards and poor Genie-was always dressed in those frumpy clothes. Well, I think she looks amazing and I hope they have a good storyline for her-her last arc was boring, I thought.

Remember how astute she was in deceiving Victor? Imagine hoodwinking Victor !!…..has anyone ever succeeded in doing that? C’mon, she was as sneaky as can be….a true mistress of her craft…no pun intended. She was invaluable when Victor lost his memory…..as was Billy. (Miller)

Su0000, you’re obviously a hater, this is your second comment against Genie’s return. Genie Francis’ Laura, is what GH should be about. We watched her grow up and we love her. Do yourself a favor, and watch some GH on youtube from that era. Honestly, Genie was part of that time period (1978) when the show was almost cancelled. She helped to save it. Show some respect.
The think is, they didn’t just have Genie’s character (I suddenly forgot her name) written off Y&R. They had the character humiliated and figuratively tarred and feathered again and again. Everyone in town, even the lowest of the low, were allowed to kick her verbally. I think even Lily and Summer were allowed to go a few rounds on this character.
In fact, they had Victor’s retired golden retriever come back just to bark at her.

You have to understand that not everyone is a fan of Genie Francis’ Laura. There are a lot of GH fans who did not watch her grow up and come to love her. I was born in 1988 so obviously I’m one of those fans. Yes, I have watched some GH on youtube from that era. I am APPALLED that the producers turned what Luke did to Laura into a ‘seduction” scene instead of keeping it what it really was and is. WORST of all, that the producers would have Laura marry Luke!!! NOTHING, in my opinion, can be said to justify that. I can show Genie some respect for rising to the occasion to make that horrendous story line work and for helping to save the show.
Yes, Justin, I wish everyone could watch Laura on youtube–I watch when I can and always get a lump in my throat or laugh at Luke and Laura in the same apartment building–or Laura and Luke and Robert Scorpio–it’s the sheer FUN that I miss so much–watching the sparks fly as well as hearing the sparkling dialogue–and the adlibbing–how great was that! Genie Francis has said in interviews that she laughed so much (off-camera) that her stomach hurt! The actors were having a great time and so were the loyal viewers–that’s why we long for something comparable today. Writer, hone that sense of humor and get cracking!
I love Genie Francis, and, I did not know her or Luke, as a couple. She exudes that intangible quality/aura that is hard to explain. I simply love her.
Moreover, I do concur with Harry, in that, she was shamed on Y&R. It seems that those two little inconsequential nonentities, those harridans better known as Lily and Summer took pleasure in berating her. I wish someone would kick the viragoes’s A$$.

The story line should reflect that.

You haven’t seen anything until you see the comedic banter that Luke and Laura had–all through the Left-handed Boy storyline (Luke and Laura on the run) and the banter (and wonderful love and romance) between them when they lived in the apartment complex together–him upstairs, her downstairs. This was after they return from being on the run. Check it out on youtube. I do all the time. It’s so wonderful. Great writing and, most importantly, great adlibbing on TG’s and Genie’s part.
I agree. It is a wonder to watch how devoted Tracy is. I think Luke and Tracy are good for each other. Why fix something that ” ain’t” broken?
Some couples, as Luke and Laura, cannot reconnect. Leave well enough alone, I say. Laura should be allowed to find herself, and not be glued to anyone, at this time.

Julie Marie Berman was Lulu for eight years. She may that it was time to leave GH in 2013 for other opportunities and may not be willing to come back. I actually like Emme Rylan in the role of LuLu.

Su…there was much more family dynamics back in the day. The Quartermaines were dysfunctional, hilarious, close and at ep the center of many stories. Lila and Edward, Tracy, Alan, AJ, Jason, Emily, Skye, Alice, Justice, Lois…people were always at their mansion…Brends, Sonny, Nicolas…Robert Scorpio, Sean…for good or bad things were always happening. And the bickering was priceless. Scotty had his dad Lee and Lee’s girlfriend…can’t remember her name. Elizabeth and her sister Sarah and their ” gram” …Anna, Robert, Tiffany, Duke, Holly…all intertwined and always involved in some high caper espionage. Luke, Laura, Lucky, Lulu…
Point is I still watch and love GH, but it barely resembles gets it was. Those hours were jam packed with love, fun , family, adventure…and the zaniness that still goes on today…but even more so. It was a great show…Classic, vintage soapy fun…
I figured this would happen. She wouldnt have agreed to be on the Emmys with Tony if she wasnt planning a return. I guess better late than never. It will take her a year just to get caught up on what has been going on. I’m sure that will be skimmed over and they will concentrate on post Luke’s April 1st show. Either way there is plenty to do for Genie if it is written the right way. After all, her, Tony and Jane all have mega talent and can blow the right words off the page and onto the screen!

Fantastic news! Laura Spencer is an integral part of GH’s history. We love her smile, sweetness, toughness and optimism. Finally, a character to root for. Pair her back with Luke and if Tony wants to exit, bring back Tristan Rogers. Laura and Robert have wonderful chemistry and it could be a great love triangle with Anna.
We love Genie Francis, always have and always will. Jane is great but there’s nothing like Luke and Laura. Just pure magic. Ron and Frank, kudos for listening to your fans finally.
On another front, let’s get those rights back to OLTL. The characters had more heart and sole. So missing Vicki, all the Buchanans, Cramers and Lords but most especially, JOLIE.
Correct on all counts re Laura and the pure magic of Luke and Laura. And, yes, we need a character to root for. Tristan was great with both Genie and Tony–no one came close to the repartee–much adlibbed–by those three. And so much fun to watch. Made one feel better not sad and down.

There are a lot of good comments here. Can someone help me out here? Why is it that so many people are down on Anthony Geary? Some are just tired of him. I guarantee you IF he would have retired people would have started the “When is Tony coming Back?” campaign. People, you cannot have it both ways. He is a legend. Not because of what happened in 1981. He is a damn good actor. I would rather watch him EVERYDAY rather than have Nathan, Spinelli, Nina ,Franco, Shawn, Jordan, TJ, Kiki and Morgan jammed down my throat! I know Fluke was frustrating to some but I thought the April 1st episode was great and now we will see how they proceed with his recovery or maybe his demise? Genie will be great because it never made sense that she was not here for Luke, Lulu or Nick. Now she is. I hope they give her independence and that she helps Luke but moves on with her own agenda. Either way, Tony Geary is to daytime what Larry Hagman was to primetime. Respect that.

I have followed TG’s character since he played on “Bright Promise” soap–and was Spectator No. 1 (Harrison Ford was No. 2 if you can believe it) on Quinn Martin’s produced show Mod Squad, I believe. I think I’ve seen TG in all of his TV shows–even that awful 1st movie. I was always his greatest champion; however, this last story changed all that. I think TG has lost perspective on the great tender, funny, unpredictable character he first created. I know he has played Luke a long time–but stage actors come back many times to the same role or to a revival. When TG said in that interview that Luke is a “marauding angel of death” and a “serial murderer” I think he went off the rails re character of Luke. And it’s all on him because he said TPTB asked him what he had not done with the character and where he wanted to go with it, we got that horrid storyline–and a flat, evil, one-dimensional character that I could no longer recognize, and my opinion changed. I was particularly horrified that he made the Spencer family victims of their past–when it had been played previously in rich GH history as a family that overcame all obstacles with love. But I still hold out hope that he can get Luke back on track, most particularly now that Genie is back. Hopeful that their scenes will restore Luke to the person he used to be–edgy, unpredictable, funny, tender, energetic, quick-witted, etc.

Nancy, I concur completely and like you, I have loved Tony Geary and his creation Luke for over thirty years.
He is absolutely brilliant and there was always a sense of fun interjected into his sense of tragedy. One always had the feeling with Luke that his way of coping with his messed up childhood was to externalize those demons through adventure and mostly, through humor. Remember when Luke was funny? Most funny people (certainly most comics) suffer from depression so Luke’s funny bit always jived with me.
But this latest damage control story took all the fun out of Luke–it zapped up his spirit and I even thought his acting responded accordingly.
Appearantly people have taken things TG has said and turned them into more then what it is, example he said he wants to eventually retire and some people took it as right now and ever sense have taken to guess his exit storyline it’s so annoying but it keeps goin on, then there’s his opinion on Luke and hoe throughout the years different writers have change the core of what he thought the character was well some felt he was dissing all the years he was teamed up with genie, plus the fact that he couldn’t control specifically the previous regime hatred towards GF. My point, there’s been some stuff said that has created this assumption that TG doesn’t like working with GF, there’s been things both have said in interviews to have people assuming this . So I’m sure others will be more detailed but you know how this work, it only take one person to start so many rumors that are never true…

Amen Timmm! Tony Geary is the best actor in daytime TV history, for my money, and he has the hardware on his mantle to back it up. Hell, he probably needs an entire room to store his Emmys at this point, lol. All well deserved. The Fluke storyline ended up not being the best, but his performances were always top notch, as they always are.
He’s as good as it gets in my book, and one of those actors I would watch read the phone book, as they used to say back in the days when we still had phone books! 😉
And Dan, as I stated, Fluke is not over. It started to get a little stale and then April 1st happened. Now that Genie is back they have an opportunity to really lift this story to new heights! I hope it will silence Tony’s critics.

And that just proves what TG has said all along–he doesn’t care about the fans’ devotion or reaction. Guess he would rather play to his fellow actors, directors, writers than his fans. So be it.

Finally! This is excellent news! She’s been so desperately missed during the Fluke story, I’m glad they’re bringing her back now for the aftermath. They should also try to get Jonathan Jackson back for a short-term return, because he is also a big part of Luke’s life and has been missing from this story, arguably the biggest for the character of Luke and Tony Geary himself. Regardless, I’m thrilled Laura will be back!
Genie Francis career concerning General Hospital she came on in the late seventies as a teenager stayed on the show until 1982. Came back in 1983 to usher Geary off the show. Came back in 1993 stayed until 2002. Came back for short visits 2006, 2008 & 2013. Also had roles on AMC/Loving, Days and Y&R. This will more then likely be a short visit also my question is why now? I respect her for her devotion to a show which has not always shown her great respect.
When Luke and Laura came back in ’93, they had some good material-with Luke’s nightclub, Frank Smith, Lucky/Elizabeth, etc. Unfortunately, wardrobe dressed poor Genie in the frumpiest duds-lol!
Her last stint was unmemorable. I love Genie’s scenes wtih Scotty. I love Scotty’s scenes with Luke and how Luke refers to him as an “ambulance chaser.”
I’ve watched old YouTube videos of Luke and Laura-and I can see the chemistry, not being alive in the ’70’s-I was curious. But, now-I think that ship has sailed; although, I understand the writers and the fans wanting to respect the show’s history. I say, “go for it!” I hope that the writing is better this time around.
Sonny and Brenda of the ’90’s are my version of Luke and Laura of the 70’s and early 80’s.

Cameron Mathison Previews New Game Show ‘Beat The Bridge’ (Promo)
As previously reported, Cameron Mathison (Drew, General Hospital) will be seen doing double duty this summer when he premieres in June as the host of Game Show Network’s Beat The Bridge.
Now, while Cameron will be the host with the most, that doesn’t mean he will stop playing GH’s Drew. In fact, Mathison taped the game show in 2023, so it will now air for the first time in 2024.
Taking to his Instagram this week, Cameron shared his enthusiasm and some new hosting snaps, sharing, “Our newest game show host reporting for duty😎 Head over to the Game Show Network YouTube channel for your first look at the show and don’t miss Beat The Bridge premiering this June! I can’t wait for you guys to see this!”

In Beat The Bridge, an enormous interactive bridge dares players to cross by stepping on the right answers to challenging trivia questions. As they play, each steps forward and puts money in their team’s bank, with bonus money for each successful crossing. Here’s the catch: the team gets to keep the money only if it can “beat the bridge” by returning one of its players back across before time expires.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Nina Confronts Ava for Sabotaging Her Relationship With Sonny and Signs the Divorce Papers
Looks like Nina (Cynthia Watros) and Ava (Maura West) are back to be each other’s sworn enemy number one. By the end of the Monday, April 22nd episode of General Hospital, the women know where they stand with each other after Nina goes in on Ava accusing her of wanting Sonny (Maurice Benard) all to herself, while her marriage has been on the rocks.
In story, at Nina’s office, Ava shows up to see Nina and says she is sorry about what happened with Sonny and that he reacted the way he did, acknowledging that is was over the top, even for Sonny. Ava says she’ll smooth things over, but Nina says she now understands how manipulative and transparent Ava really is.
Given their horrible history, Nina goes in on Ava and how she should never have trusted her. Nina wants to know how long has Ava had this agenda dating all the way back to telling Nina to turn Carly (Laura Wright) and Drew (Cameron Mathison) into the SEC. Ava says she never told her do to that, but Nina wants to know how long Ava has been playing her for a fool.

Ava says she moved in with Sonny to keep Avery safe and she wants to be on good terms with Avery’s father, Sonny. Nina thinks she likes being in Sonny’s inner circle. Ava tells Nina if she goes to him about her advising Nina to call the SEC on Carly and Drew, it won’t work. Sonny still considers Nina a traitor and he will think she’s lying because she’s so desperate to win him back. Ava says if Nina would stop blaming everyone else that maybe Sonny would respect her. Nina says “like he does you?” Ava says Sonny not only respects her, but he also counts on her.
From there, Ava launches into why she and Sonny understand each other, after all, Sonny is a powerful, turbulent, and sometimes violent man. She goes so far to say if Nina wanted someone to just sit by the fire with and play with their grandchildren, she’s got the wrong guy. Ava then talks about Mike from Nixon Falls (Sonny with amnesia) and how Sonny hid the darkest parts of himself from Nina back then, whereas with Ava they are the same similar creatures, so he doesn’t have to hide anything.

Nina wants to know just what Ava wants with Sonny? What is her end game? Ava responds that they understand each other, in ways she can’t with Sonny. Nina tells Ava she can go ahead and have it all and signs Sonny’s divorce papers. Ava walks out with the documents, while Nina in tears at her desk, takes off her wedding rings and has her assistant come in so she can messenger the rings back to Sonny’s address.

Ellen Travolta Makes Another Return to General Hospital
If General Hospital’s Chase (Josh Swickard) and Brook Lynn’s (Amanda Setton) nuptials are on, you didn’t think Grandma Gloria Cerullo would miss out on the festivities, now did you?
Casting news from Soap Opera Digest reveals that Ellen Travolta is back taping scenes that will air the week of May 13th on the ABC daytime drama series. When viewers learned that Carmine Cerullo, was also on his way back to Port Charles, now in the face and body of actor George Russo, it only made sense that Grandma Gloria would join Grandpa Cerullo. Look for them both mid-May.
As most people know, Ellen is the older sister to John Travolta. She first make appearances as Gloria back on GH in the mid-90s. Most recently, she returned to the Quartermaine mansion to meet up with daughter, Lois (Rena Sofer) and granddaughter Brook Lynn for Thanksgiving in Port Charles in 2023. Michael Fairman TV interviewed Rena Sofer and Amanda Setton late last year where they shared what it had been liking working with Ellen, who remains very close to Sofer in real-life.

Amanda shared: “We fell in love immediately. What’s crazy is my maternal grandmother was Grandma Gloria. I had her till I was 30 and we were so close. She was really like a second mom to me. So, when I got this script and I’m reading “Grandma Gloria”, it was so bizarre. And then in meeting Ellen, she looks like my grandma – same haircut, same high cheekbones. It really did feel like I had a few days with my grandma. It was very, very special for me. Ellen is sweet, prepared, professional, talented and funny to boot. So, it was one of the best weeks I’ve had at work. I hope she comes back. My fingers are crossed.”

Now, we can’t imagine Brook Lynn and Chase’s wedding day to be smooth sailing, in fact, expect just the opposite, but could it be Grandma Gloria who is ultimately the hero or the calming voice of reason for any pre-wedding jitters? Stay tuned.
