GH’s Jane Elliot Talks Tracy’s Exit Story, Deidre Hall & Her Favorite Soap Opera Role!

The elusive Jane Elliot gave her only exit interview to her longtime friend, and noted soap journalist, Michael Logan of TV Insider.

As Jane will wrap up her run as Tracy Quartermaine next week on the May 4th episode she opened up about a myriad of subjects in her farewell chat including: her final story arc, her decision to leave, what her dear pal DAYS Deidre Hall (Marlena) had to say about her departure, and even talked about her favorite soap role of her storied career.  Here are some excerpts below:

As to her on-screen send-off Elliot related: “Well, it’s the first time Tracy has left Port Charles not in disgrace. (Laughs) That’s a big win! The first time she left, it was after she tried to kill her father, Edward. The second time she fled with a bag of money and baby Dillon. The third time, she came back to town with Dillon but Edward sent her packing again. She also got kicked out in 2003. Can’t remember why. And, now, it’s by her choice. She’s leaving because she is determined to be a better person.”

As to her final storyline, Jane cxpressed: “Oh, I think it works well enough and that the audience finds it relatable. Tracy is a woman who was never approved of by her father and has spent a lifetime trying to measure up, trying to be who she thinks he wants her to be. That’s why she fell for Luke Spencer. He was always Tracy’s drug of choice. She couldn’t get Luke to commit to her the same way she couldn’t get her father to commit. So you see a repetition in her behavior. To now learn that she really did have her father’s love is satisfying, as is the freedom that it now gives her.”

As to what Deidre Hall had to say when Jane announced she was exiting and retiring from acting as of now: “She had a really hard time with my decision, but it’s more about me moving away. I have always been amazed watching Deidre negotiate the business. I believe certain people come into our lives because we’re woven from the same cloth, we’re in the same tribe, we’ve known each other for many, many lifetimes and can finish each other’s sentences.”

As to her finest role, Elliot says it’s: “No question about it. Guiding Light. The story (head writer) Doug Marland created for me was just so good and so rare. Thanks to Doug, I learned who I was as an actor. He stretched me. He pulled me. And I rose to the occasion. He made me look good and I made him look good. Playing Tracy Quartermaine is fairly easy. You don’t have to dig deep. But, to play Carrie Todd, I had to go very, very deep. And it wasn’t just because of her madness. She was a fully fleshed out, fully realized character living a really rich life. It was a very complete role. And I loved playing opposite Jerry verDorn [Ross], the most generous actor I’ve ever worked with. It was a once in a lifetime thing and I knew it at the time. No 20/20 hindsight necessary.”

So what did you think of Jane’s comments?  Did you love her as Carrie Todd  on GL the most?, What do you think of Tracy’s GH exit story thus far?  Weigh-in below!

I will miss Jane Elliot!! I love Tracy and will miss her wit, humor and her loyalty to her family (including Monica!) Good Luck Ms.Elliot, you are loved.

Loved the interview, Michael. It’s great to see how discerning Jane is and how well she articulates her choice of her favorite role–how it was fully fleshed out and how she had to “dig deep.” She’s right, also, when she says playing Tracy “is fairly easy.” Tracy is a type, rather than a full character.
Her comment–again– that “Luke is Tracy’s drug of choice” and that Tracy ‘s falling for him is just like her attempts to get her father to love her gives me renewed hope that she will NOT end up going back to Luke and repeating the same destructive pattern. Learning that her father really loved her, Elliot says, now gives her freedom. I’m encouraged that she will take that knowledge and be strong and lived a more realized life.

I am crying to read Guiding Light’s Carrie Todd was her favorite character. I will miss JE as Tracy on GH. I remember her on GL and I am sad. I wish JE a much deserved retirement.

Gonna miss Ms. Elliot. GH won’t be the same without her.

Just finished reading Michael Logan’s full interview with Jane where she says soap opera used to be about STORYTELLING and now it’s about EVENTS rather than EMOTIONS.
She nailed it! And that’s what we longtime fans have been saying.
She says also that advertisers say that they want to get young people watching so that want the younger actors to have more time on screen. Well, they are wrong; the young people are NOT watching daytime drama; it’s truly the more loyal, longtime fans that continue to watch in hopes of seeing their favorite actors because these fans do relate to the storytelling and emotions that once ruled the screen. We have no investment in EVENTS. But, alas, TPTB do not listen and thus the demise of the once-great medium.
Finally, I loved it that Jane says she wants now to give–not to be paid–for her time, her education, her intellect. What an altruistic goal. Good luck, Jane, with all that.
Bon voyage and may you sail on halcyon seas.
(PS And it would have been GREAT to see you go toe to toe with Sonny as a mob boss, as you say! 🙂 )

Yes, yes- agree with you and Jane and I hope sooner than later someone will realize there is a market for older viewers and we want to see our favorite actors and since advertisers consider us worthless, then what about Netflix or Amazon or Hulu-or am I wrong and that would not be viable?

Not all advertisers see us as worthless…I almost get sick with all of the pharma ads shown during soaps. Thank goodness for the mute button.

For a while, Jane’s observation about younger people being the driving force in daytime was accurate. The youth obsession forced many beloved vets to backburner or recurring status.

On GH in the past few years, there’s been a shift toward focusing on contract characters in their 40s and 50s. The puzzling thing is that it’s often newer characters like Nina, Franco and Ava and not vets like Ned, Felicia or Lucy.

If anything there’s not enough stories on next generation legacy characters. HP (Molly) and TR (TJ) are good actors and I’m constantly wondering why she doesn’t have a story. And I bet if you poll longtime viewers, the next generation legacy character they would love to see most would be Serena Baldwin.

I find it unfortunate that the younger actors do not have much talent (Kiki), yet, they are given much more airtime than the veterans. Also, many young people today do not watch daytime, which leaves the veteran viewers at a loss.

Thank you Jane for a wonderful interview and letting us all know what really goes on with the soaps will miss you but have a glorious time on your next adventure!!

One more “finally”: LOL!
Forgot to comment on Genie’s giving Tracy a journal that everyone wrote in–Jane says she will treasure that. Now isn’t that just like, sweet and thoughtful Genie?
I’ll miss seeing Jane and Genie’s scenes–so very glad they got to have the few that they did–so marvelous to watch the chemistry of two great pros. So much fun!

Yep. Then there’s Tony, who can now ride off into the sunset with Tracy, thus forever ending his being part of the Luke and Laura supercoupling that he so despised -yet without unlikely he would have achieved even a modicum of fame. Too much to ask that Jane go out a strong woman on her own- would have rather the lady mob boss story and her character blaze of glory gunfight.

Let the anger go about Tony! He made a choice and said what he wanted to say. There are millions of people who retire from a job and give their employers a thumb!

I love Genie and I thought when they put her back on contract she would be given something to do. I enjoy seeing her, but she seems to just be talking scenery. The Turkey story insipid. Sick of Lulu and her drama and Laura playing mama bear. Hoping Laura could get something interesting going on and soon.

Yes, Barb, so do I.

Yes please! Her pairing with Kevin drew me back to the show last summer. Now nothing. It’s sad really. Instead the focus on nSonny and company.

So sad to see Tracy/Jane leave. She will be missed

She found playing Carrie Todd fufiilling but for the most part the audience loved her as tracy, I’m glad she got to play more then one role on her lifetime and that she found something meaningful hope she pays tracy a visit can’t imagine never seeing her act again .

Carrie Todd was written by Douglas Marland who brought the late great guidling light back from the dead and made it compete neck and neck with general hospital which was all the rage. But guiding light went to number 1 and won the Emmy because of him so that’s why she loved that part and that show. Amen soap Jesus

I love Tracy Quartermaine. I don’t know Jane Elliot, LOL. So, ummmmm…I’m not too thrilled with this excerpt. While she might be a wonderful person I don’t think she had her GH fans in mind when she gave this interview.

If this had been an interview long after her GH departure and she was reminiscing about her overall soap career I’d be fine with it. But right now, while GH fans are mourning the loss of Tracy Q she almost brushed the character off. She showed no affinity for the character, no mixed feelings of leaving a soap she’d been on for so long, a fictitious family she’d been so central to…she paid no tribute to any on the GH staff. The fact that the fans mourn the loss of Tracy more than she does sours it for me.

While I’m able to suspend my disbelief to enjoy the show, I’ll have to try extra hard to separate the actress who doesn’t seem to give a damn about Tracy Q from the Tracy Q I’ve come to love.

With all said, perhaps I’ll seek out the full interview to see if there was any saving grace in its entirety.

Hi Rebecca,
I think you will find the entire interview incisive and revealing. Take care.

Thanks, Nancy. Thanks for your courteous response to a difference of opinion as opposed to some…(cough, Judith, cough). Please see my explanation of why I feel the way I feel.

Hope all’s well!

Jane’s interview was excellent and she has no need to kowtow to anyone. Her honesty and candor is a breath of fresh air. Jane gave ABC and GH much more than she ever received in return and owes her fans no debt of remorse or phoney lamenting of a fictional family or character-as she is quite well reality-based, as opposed to you. I am much more interested in hearing from her, than from someone who spends their days posting incessantly on the soaps, watching the soaps, and insulting real people while defending to the nth degree fictional characters.

Dear Judith…I don’t know you from a hole in the wall, but after your DEPLORABLE answer to me might I request…don’t respond to me again unless you can answer as a mature adult in a civil matter. I have no need to give you an answer, but out of compassion for your lack of comprehension, I’ll try.

I responded to the “part” of the interview which was printed on this site. I ended with saying I’ll look up the interview in its entirety to see if it read better to me. TO ME. That’s the part you apparently don’t get.

I also said that I thought it would be a good interview if it was given a while AFTER she left GH. Why? Because I, personally, like to think an actor I’ve invested in, actually likes his/her role. It has more meaning for me as a viewer. If I think a person is not a fan of the character…than it takes something away from MY viewing experience.

Since she is leaving the show and many fans witll miss her, I’d rather the interview have been about GH, about her years there, ANY fondness she may have had for Tracy, how she’d miss her GH sons, her sister-in-law…her perhaps feelings for the Qs and the rich history they’ve had…how they’re all one-by-one…leaving the show.

Your idiotic comment about my not being “reality-based”, LOL, we’re commenting on the show and I went out of my way to actually say…the “fictitious family”.

Now, step back and get off my comment unless you can share your opinion in an objective, non-offensive manner. How’s that for reality?

Dear Judith–just this.
LEAVE REBECCA ALONE!
Thank you kindly.

Judith, god bless you!

PS, Judith.
I do understand from whence you come. Been there. But, I am an avid poster….not as much lately.
I am not too familiar with Jane Elliot

Harry, my love…I just saw your “knight-in-shining armor” comment in my defense. Thanks…hope you know I’d do the same for you! I’ve missed you!

In rereading my comment regarding the interview I think the “doesn’t give a damn about Tracy Q” came off more strongly than I even meant it. LOL. Just felt disappointed in her responses, as said, for the reasons I gave (and stand by) UNTIL I read the entire interview by Michael Logan. It’s a good read if you’re interested in the full version.

Hope you’re hanging in there…

Hmmmm…I thought “knights in shining armor” were strictly verboten at this website. Guess that rule only applies when it’s “Sir Timmm” doing the defending!!!!

Right on, Judith! Totally right on and then you get dragged in the gutter by someone who can’t stand that Jane Elliott is being honored and not her.

My hero.

I’m sorry…I don’t mean I’m “sorry” but, LOL, I can’t resist coming back to this thread and each new hysterical (and I don’t mean funny) criticism gets more and more ludicrous.

Hahahhaa…Nicki…”dragged into the gutter by someone who can’t stand that Jane Elliott is being honored and not her.” You got ALL THAT by me being disappointed Jane didn’t seem attached to Tracy? So funny.

MOON MULLIGAN WHAT THE. ..I loved Judy Garland as Dorothy Gale so did she but as she’ll t tell you her finest hour Vicki Lester in A Star Is Born ..I loved Barbara Streisand in Hello Dolly and Funny Girl she loved Yentl more because it was a story so close to her heart. In other words. .although fans loved Tracy for her snark and vapid Ness JE loved the role of Carrie because it was more in depth and emotional. A very flawed very well together character. Who wouldn’t be proud. No she didn’t have her GH fans in mind. .she had her career and her career defining roles and her faithful Loyal fan base
In mind doing this interview. I think you should reevaluate your answer madam. No snarling reply please lol.

And I’m not even going to point out my spelling gaffes. .oh heck yes I am vapidness which I now realize may not even be a word lol

I never snarl at you davlestev1! LOL…I get what you’re saying and I get what Jane was saying. Just didn’t enjoy hearing how she wasn’t that fond of Tracy. Sigh…I’ll repeat it again. Yes, if it was an interview given months after her departure and a look back at her soap career I’d feel differently about it. (Also, I never watched Guiding Light so never knew her as anyone other than Tracy.)

Again, my point is I like “Tracy.” It would be nice if Jane liked her, too. Now when I watch the last scenes I’ll just be thinking about how she apparently didn’t…which then effects how I experience the exit of the character….

Not only that, davlestev, but the role of Carrie was written by someone who knew how to write and who wrote the character consistently. I can’t blame Jane for thinking that Tracy has been less of a dramatic challenge to play, as too much of the time, she has been–I would have to agree with her assessment. That the audience responds so strongly to Tracy is in that sense a tribute to Jane–she has made Tracy worth caring about despite some very questionable writing for the character from time to time through the years (and whenever she did get some good material with depth, she knew how to run with it). I didn’t get the sense from the interview that Jane didn’t like Tracy or didn’t like playing her; I just think she wished she’d been written with more depth and challenged her more as an actor. In my opinion, Tracy has been a supporting character for much of the last decade, a player in other characters’ stories, when she should have been the one the story was about.

I’m grateful to JE for giving us her insight on Tracy’s need for Luke. It does make a little more sense now. Of course, we should have been getting that from the writing all along, and we didn’t. Or at least, I didn’t.

Hi Michael (not Fairman)…

Since you might not see my comment which I wrote after my initial one above, Jane went much more into depth about GH and Tracy, as well as her career, etc. It filled in everything I was looking for here, which I felt was rather dismissive of GH so it left me disappointed. But you’re right, after reading her entire interview (by the attributed Michael Logan) it was a much more enjoyable interview for me…and I appreciated Jane’s point-of-view regarding character.

It’s just nice when you’re invested in a character to feel that the actor playing him or her is into the role…for me, anyway. I didn’t get that sense here but got more of her point of view when I read the interivew in its entirety.

And so, sigh…and LOL…if people can’t understand MY take on it, no matter. To each his own. We’re asked what we think. That’s what I thought!

Love Jane and the interview was good.

Wow. Judith is clearly a loyal fan of Jane’s, as am I. Your rather vicious response to her seems to me that her comment was entirely spot on. You are on here daily, repeatedly, and since you see this as your domain, you spew venom when another driver crosses your path. Her comment rings especially true after reading your response(s). I don’t know you, nor do I care to, so add me to your list of idiots with poor comprehension skills. Have a lovely day, here, on the internet, alone.

Spot on. Thank you!

BWAHAHAHA UHHH…I’m not really sure Kevin what that was all about but I guess I’ll consider myself told?? First my mouth dropped open…then my eyes bugged out..then i busted out laughing what else is there for that rant? PEACE.

Oh and thanks for noticing my presence I don’t feel so lonely anymore #smileyface.

Sorry Kevin I thought that was for me it clearly wasn’t. I guess whatever Judith said must have been quite nasty since its gone. Again sorry.

Oh good lord I don’t know who you’re responding to LMAO I’ll leave this part of the thread alone. Don’t normally see such agro in this site as in the past so I’m best off just leaving the type of comments alone.

Kevin….On behalf of myself and my fellow idiots, please let me be the first to welcome you to our close-knit circle. We’ve traditionally been a small and very select group, but apparently a recruiting drive is currently underway to expand our membership rolls. And here’s some really great news: our next meeting will feature a lecture on “reading comprehension” conducted by none other than our resident expert!!!! And yes, refreshments will be served!!!!! Please pass the word to all interested parties….RSVP required!

oh, yes, Maureen! Spot on! LOL.

Love Jane Elliot but this storyline drives me crazy. First of all some random woman shows up and Demands the painting- as if it were her right to have it. I’m on Tracy’s side – it’s Tracy’s painting! What if Samira demanded that Monica sell the mansion in order to ransom her child- would Monica agree? No! Secondly the traffickers are selling her daughter for 20 million? That’s not realistic- for arguments sake let’s say 1 million then I’m assuming the monks and/or Samira pocket the rest? I can see the family doing a great deal to help if they knew Samira was Edward’s daughter- but they don’t know that. They have no connection to her and they aren’t a family focused on giving every cent they own (including the company) to every hard luck story out there. I can understand using their money to fund the hospital- but unless next month Monica donates the home to be used as a shelter, sell the jet, jewelry (including the rock on Olivia’s hand), cars, clothes ect and every profit donated to whoever asks for it first- then they are all a bunch of hypocrites. Love Jane but this story is implausible and I want to slap Samira every time she says she Must have the painting.

Yes. Don’t like any of it and hope Samira disappera never to return. Why not bring back Skye Quartermaine or an unknown son or daughter of AJ to shake things up? I am hoping Sonny and Ava get together as a couple.

Laura…Great summary of how I feel about the whole Samira thing since the get-go.

Samira is horrible! Jane cannot run fast enough!

Ok, so now we know Samira is a liar and a con woman. So I am guessing she will now move in with Nelle and or Amy and prove to everyone she is worthy of Port Charles. Perhaps a performance at the nurses’ ball where she reveals her true colors- as I doubt they are blue. Sonny needs a new woman now, so here we go-one brief moment in the crypt leads to another Corinthos baby.

Thanks for the verify, appreciate it

No doubt Jane Elliot is one of daytime’s best actors and I agree 100% that GL’s Carrie Todd was her greatest role thanks to the brilliant writing of Douglas Marland. Marland’s tightly plotted story of Carrie and her multiple personalities was expertly interwoven with the murders of Diane Ballard and Joe Bradley, her romance with Ross Marler, her search for child she gave up for adoption, and her role in breaking up Justin and Jackie Marler’s marriage. The amount of well thought out story that Marland packed into a little over a year (while building a sympathetic character in Carrie) is something today’s headwriters should study and learn from.

I loved Jane Elliot’s portrayal of Carrie Todd and it was my favorite role for Jane for I was addicted to Guiding Light during the era when Douglas Marland wrote for GL…To me, Douglas Marland was and always will be the best head writer ever to have graced daytime dramas…

Amen! Jane has every reason to say she loved that role and Jerry is a wonderful human being and actor! Kudos Jane enjoy your retirement !!!

Jane will be dearly missed. Best wishes on your retirement

I have always felt that the writers on GH never wrote for the actress but wrote for the character. Tracey over the past decade was never truly fleshed out. She was one note and never really saw a struggle worthy of the actress playing her. Other than amazing emotional scenes when tracey’s parents died, the character was always just fighting even when asking for another slice of pizza at the q family thanksgivings.

As happy as I am to see the actress be able to leave with her head high, and retire happy, I’m sad she won’t play another Carrie. It’s sad no writer presently has the desire to write like Doug Maryland or Agnes Nixon or Bill Bell Sr (not even his son comes close)

Well said, agree!

Paul, I also agree…along with Douglas Marland, Bill Bell Sr and Agnes Nixon were tops…

As usual, Jame gave so much class in this interview. I am still very upset she is leaving but I will always remember her for everything she gave through the years I had the chance to watch her. Most definitely an actress everyone can learn from but never emulate. Jane is (was) in a class all of her own. I’ll never forget you, Jane!!!

One of the MANY reasons I love Ms. Jane is that, of her rich body of roles (#GH, #KL, #DAYS, #AMC, #TheCity), she always singles-out the role Doug Marland wrote for her and the year she spent (1981-82) on #GuidingLight playing multiple personality sufferer “Carrie Todd-Marler”, and she’s never wavered from that choice. (I was a junior in high school and would RUN home every day to see this storyline unfold!) It was definitely a high-water mark in the 32 years I followed GL!

I love Jane Elliot and I’ll miss her. As far as her exit story is concerned, it has been a contrived abomination. Friday’s special episode was a lose-lose for the current writing team. The new material they wrote as they “borrowed” the entire premise of the masterful film, Defending Your Life, was weak and “wacky” in the worst sense of the word while the past clips that were included made viewers long for the days when the show was especially well written. If the powers that be plan on trading the character of Tracy for the newbie Samira they are out of their minds. This actress needs to get into acting classes pronto and endeavor to master a second facial expression. The potted plant in the corner of the room was out-emoting her. She had better be gone by mid-week or I will lose complete faith in the show. And the less said about “Judge Sonny” the better. Finally, I’m glad that Jane didn’t feel the need to pander to the current regime at GH and spoke so highly of her role on Guiding Light. That was from the golden era of soaps, when scenes were given time to play out and dialogue was masterfully crafted. GH could improve immensely if it would get away from the editing style it has adopted, with short scenes and quick cuts. It undercuts the drama and the acting. Godspeed to Jane Elliot and long live GH!

Agreed!

If the Quartermaine family doesn’t have Turkey on Thanksgiving, why, why now? Maybe Samira is meant to attract a younger demographic and her eyes are x-ray and will soon spin in circles and change color with her moods. Or she will make some tasty pickle-relish hummus.

HaHaHaHaHa!!!! And TRIPLE LOL, Barb!!!!

Agree with everything you wrote!

Samira is worse than Sabrina! [Never thought that would happen!] I wont attack the actress but she is not good for the part and the story sucks! Why not Jimmy Lee Holt? Tracy and him would be fabulous in scenes together!

Jimmy Lee Holt would cost too much! (You get what you pay for….)

I am going to miss her!

Harry…Good to hear from you again.  I’ve almost done a “Harry” for the same reasons since you left last time. For some reason I wasn’t able to to comment on the story/thread you reappeared on. Hope this message gets to you.

I have liked the flashbacks as well, some of which I don’t remember seeing before.  Jane will greatly be missed, but good luck to her in her new life.

And the whole Samira thing has bothered me from the beginning, particularly her constant, guilt-trip-badgering of Tracy for the portrait.  I have just never liked the character or trusted her.

And since they seem hell bent on bringing Luke/Tony back for the finale in some way, wonder if it is somehow tied to the fact that he was imprisoned in a Turkish jail during one of Tony’s summers off.  You know how writers can pull things out of the sky and try to make it into a story. Just a thought. Plus in older pictures he had blue eyes. I can handle him being part of one of the flashbacks because he was important to Tracy most recently.  I just don’t want to see her leave with him.  And I know this won’t
seem nice, but I don’t want Tracy to give Samira the portrait to “redeem” herself, certainly based on the scetchy, unverified info they have from Samira.

@Rose….Hello again…nice to see you are back amongst us and doing reasonably well after the issues to which you’ve previously alluded. I just wanted to expound upon your mention of all those “BigPharma” ads to which soap viewers are constantly subjected. It’s my belief that the worst thing to ever happen to the well-being of the public was the unleashing of the infernal, non-stop barrage of tv and print promotions on behalf of practically every “cure to what ails you” chemically-based concoctions known to man. Not only were they deceptively dangerous in that they encouraged unsophisticated, non-medically-trained individuals to seek–and often downright demand—from their physicians more and more substances to correct every problem in their lives, but they’ve created the false illusion that there is a medicinal fix for everything, when in reality, just living an existence with healthful habits like proper diet, rest and physical activity, not to mention, generally well-disciplined personal habits, would negate the need for most of these said products. (Many of which have such horrendous side effects that they actually end up spawning worse situations than those they were purportedly supposed to alleviate or eliminate.) As far as I’m concerned, one’s goal should be to thrive as much as humanly possible without any drugs in their daily lives whatsoever. Before anyone misunderstands that statement, I’m not saying that all pharmaceuticals are evil or unnecessary….there has always been a place in our society for them when they have been used sparingly, only when truly essential and with proper medical guidance, and most importantly, as a treatment of last– not first–resort. But in today’s environment of instant gratification and rampant substance abuse–both of the legal and illegal variety—it’s would certainly not go amiss for a total re-thinking of the wisdom of showing wall-to-wall advertising spots of one “magical med” after another which makes promises that are not only often dubious, but sometimes deadly in their consequences. Of course, as a diehard capitalist and freedom of speech advocate, it does give me immense pause to even consider the thought of putting the brakes on such entrepreneurial and marketing activity, but then again, sometimes there is enough of an impetus in the notion of the public good to make sweeping changes that benefit us all…like in the example of widespread tobacco restrictions. As for the question of what such revisions would do for the sponsorship of soaps, I can only hope that there would be enough household cleaning products and feminine hygiene options left to hawk to make up for the slack.

I’m with you on what you say about big pharma ads, and good life style choices. And I’m all for free speech (even Ann Coulter :)). Especially since I made my career on selling advertising for national publications, including a doctors magazine at one point, before you would see these type of pharm ads directed at consumers.

On the good side for pharma, they really help keep the soaps afloat. And you can ff or mute them. Especially when you keep hearing about symptoms you may or may not have, to ailments I’ve never heard of, sometimes followed by an ambulance chasing lawyer ad. I just get upset that besides these kinds of ads, and those you’ve mentioned, that advertisers think these are the only things daytime viewers are interested in needing or buying. After all, we are still looking for romance and adventure in our soaps.

And I’m all for free speech (even Ann Coulter :)). Especially since I made my career on selling advertising for national consumer/business publications, including a doctors magazine at one point… before you would see these type of pharm ads directed at consumers.

I am having a hard time with the legal and illegal drugs. I just can’t buy into legalizing some as recreational…I know it’s complicated. Get rid of the black market, get the tax money, etc. yada, yda, yada. But all I see is more DUI type accidents, and/or entry level into something more “satisfying.” Very troublesome that even some of the legally prescribed drugs can be addicting, or just a medicine cabinet away from the wrong people. Yet no one is putting more safe guards on guns, and their ownership which history shows as having “sometimes being deadly in their consequences.”

*

@Rose…I enjoyed our discussion….it was quite nice to share some common ground with you (again!) You are so right about the presumptuous nature of advertisers and their expectations of consumers’ wants and needs….I rarely sit and view an entire episode of GH, let alone check out the commercials, but of what I have seen, I’ve often wondered, who would look at these often dimwitted portrayals of the public-at-large and relate to them so closely that they are moved to actually make a purchase or even more so, hightail it to their local M.D. and demand the latest meds they’ve just seen on tv???? I really don’t get it…then again, I guess I’m just a Pollyanna at heart…I so abhor drugs of all varieties and alcohol, too…I totally refuse to partake of any of them, so your grave reservations about the proposed–and sometimes—passed legalization of um, a specific substance, definitely resonates with me. First of all, I don’t consider it to be harmless….it is a gateway to seeking more dangerous highs, regardless of what its proponents say…furthermore, even limiting this particular “cash crop” to a medicinal classification is disturbing to me because it lends it an air of legitimacy that I don’t feel is warranted or deserved…call me skeptical, but I don’t buy into the notion that there is no other elixir available on God’s green earth that can do the same miraculous things that this one does…I honestly don’t and more so believe it sets a really bad example to the youth of our country to try to convince us that thus is such. Add to that your aforementioned exponential expansion of DUI occurrences and accidents, not to mention, increased auto insurance rates across the board, and you have a real recipe for disaster…and, no, I don’t mean brownies!!!! Even far too many of the prescribed pharmaceuticals have a huge role in creating the nightmare scenario of this disgusting heroin epidemic. Amongst adults of a certain age, these addictions have most often been fueled by previous legal painkiller usage and those in the younger generations have frequently been spurred on to the stronger stuff after being primed and readied by years of ADHD treatments….such a slippery slope, to be sure! Okay, I’m done proselytizing, since I know I’m already preaching to the choir!!! As for their part in keeping the soaps afloat, I do realize that the ad revenues generated by promoting these drug companies and their array of offerings are substantial indeed, a necessary evil, in fact, but it still roils me to see so many potentially harmful products being presented in such a casual, user-friendly format….I think I preferred those print ads of yesteryear you mentioned that carried a greater gravitas to them…especially since the side effects, albeit featured in miniscule type, were clearly spelled out and should have put the fear in anyone intelligent enough to read them! Lastly, I deeply appreciated your generous sentiments on free speech…of course, I suppose you realize I would support Ann, since I’ve followed her writing for years and consider her to be a gutsy and courageous lady for “sticking to her guns”—No pun intended!—despite the downright dangerous atmosphere she now faces whenever she makes a public appearance…(But my support also stands for all peaceable people who only wish to say their piece and not destroy property or do harm to others.) And to think I happily remember Ms. Coulter from her days in a kinder, gentler time when the worst thing she encountered on a college campus speaking tour was a cream pie to the face…hey, she became quite proficient at dodging those particular baked goods!!! (See You Tube!!!) Later, Rose. Take care!

Well, now, my Shay. I suppose it’s my turn to give thanks to both you and Sir Timmm, as you have both come to my “rescue” numerous times. Timmm is my hero.
I hold no rancor in my heart. But, what goes around, truly does come around.
Incidentally, I see that many of my replies to you and Timmm have not made it on the other sites, nor here. Perhaps, this one will also limp along and have a similar end.
I only see half of my reply here which I submitted too soon, by mistake.

You and Rose have a good point about pharms and commercials. My cousin ( recently passed away at 34) developed liver cancer from THE drug which controlled Crohn’s disease.
Very scary, indeed.

Rose I replied to your reply to me and it was never posted. I apologized and wanted to start a conversation with you which seems weird now I guess and who knows if you will get this or not. I said maybe I was wrong wanted to get your take and asked best way to just put to rest and that I would take your lead on it as I am sick of the whole thing but did see it as one trying to control others and being rude but enough. Wanted to know what you think is funny and why you came here about you and said you probably sell a lot of advertising and I can be friendly too good grief feel like an idiot although don’t like being called one. Hope you get this.

Hi Gary…Glad I got your reply. I get sick of all of the back biting threads as well. I try to keep out of it, but sometimes something comes up, and I can become part of the “discussion.” Unfortunately you stand the chance you may offend someone else who sees it differently. I suppose we could all learn to voice our opinions a little better sometimes. But I do try to be positive in most of my posts.

What do I think is funny? Hard to say except why do some like mysteries and others romance, or bios, etc. when it comes to books. Or movies, tv shows, characters/storylines on soaps/ fast food places, etc? What I do know is I don’t like “humor” that puts anybody down, is rude, or insults them on any level.

I did sell a lot of advertising. And really enjoyed it. I only brought it up because I have familiarity with this industry since I was in it for a number of years, and had been commenting on the pharma ads on MF. So I can see both sides…as an advertising industry person, and as someone in my “civies” who wants to watch soaps for romance and adventure. Not what pharma wants to talk about or disclaim in their ads re: possible illness or ailments. Not fun to watch. But again, thank goodness they are keeping our soaps alive in a different way.

I will miss Jane as she is a dynamic actor. I also enjoyed her as Carrie back in her younger years on Guiding Light. Good luck Jane whatever you do!

I have love the great Jane since the first I saw her.
A big loss for GH and the Quartermaines.

As for her exit story/scene- it stunk.
It was emotionless and lackluster.
1- it highlighted Tracy’s crueler side and was empty of her kind side.
2- it was simply stale, nothing special.
3- not much connected to the last moments as a memory of a great goodbye.

Samera brought nothing to the story, bad acting eeesh, and disconnected to everything Tracy- totally out of place. (bad story writing)

All in all.. loved seeing Tracy/Jane through the decades and that’s it.
The goodbye Stunk.
Not a tear shed or a happy smile given to Jane/Tracy fans. .

I didn’t like the episode either Su as I wrote above with the exception of some great clips from days gone by (which I know you didn’t watch but held great nostalgia for those of us that did…) which was the point…to give a retrospective of her years on the show. And MANY of those years was her, as you put it, “cruel” side which was also the point…should she be allowed to go back to “life” and do a good deed, by sacrificing the picture to save another. Tracy’s conscience speaking to her.

Yes, in the latter part of the last few years we’ve seen a kinder Tracy, but that wasn’t the Tracy of most years. While she always had a good heart, her desire to be first in her father’s heart, to win his approval and her insecurity led her to do very wrong, manipulative, hurtful things. So it was appropro that they showed the negative as she wrestled with her conscience over the picture.

Even so, I still didn’t like the episode. But that wasn’t the goodbye as you say. She’ll be on through next week.

Dear Rebecca and Suoo, I agree with both of you. Good to see you both!
I have taken a long break from GH and only tunned in recently to watch Tracy’s last scenes. My favorite scene was the flashback which involved Tracy and Edward (played by the one and only David Stuart). “Daddy” tells Tracy that she values money over love and relationships and for that reason he is cutting her out of his will. The acting was sublime and the writing was intelligent with a King Lear-like theme running through the dialogue.
To compare and contrast GH from yesteryear to the present is like comparing Van Gogh with Thomas Kinkaid.
Rose, good to see you! Keep your head up. Shay, we always could bond over our mutual dislike of perky characters whose names starts with S and which contain 3 syllables. I don’t know if that’s good or bad, but I always loved your droll sense of humor and unique perspective.
I hope all is well with all of you.

Hi Harry! I hope you saw my “welcome back” post to you! Really glad you’re back. A Harry by any other name just didn’t feel the same!

Hey, rebecca,
I actually had the same thought about the Immigration officer/agent. It did cross my mind thst he has an agenda….nothing to do with immigration.

General Hospital is a disgrace for targeting ICE Law Enforcement UNFAIRLY.
I will no longer watch, I hope other fans follow through.

Uhm, no.

Here, here, Janet….my thoughts EXACTLY!!!!!

Well, if Sabrina, er, Samira…what’s her name? Forgive my confusion, I get all insipid, perky, useless, pointless, Disney-like cartoon soap characters, whose names begin with S and have three syllables, mixed up. A rose by any other name would still smell the same…..
But I regress, er, digress. Allow me to start again. If S—– (fill in blanks) had come to Port Charles with something to do that didn’t involve stomping her tiny feet and yelling that she needs that painting, I would be on her side.
Given she came into Port Charles with a huge sense of entitlement and a terrible singing voice, I say send her off on the same steam ship AMC’s JR Chandler rode off on with a “return to sender” sticker posted on her bottom.
It’s nothing against the actress (okay, it is a little–the girl cannot act) but during the course of Tracy’s exit strategy we must certainly do not need to have a new character thrusted onto the canvas. That was some pretty horrid writing.

Hello, my Shay,
Did I not say the Semira person smelled of politics? Any new character introduced from any of the countries out of Eurasia, Middle East, Far East, that is in the news, will undoubtedly be embroiled in politics. ‘Tis in the air—streaming….in my humble opinion.

Thanks for the welcome and humor. I am speaking to Shay to avoid confusion. Now of course I can not see your post from down here and don’t comprehend much anyway so no big loss, surely. Hope you get this, thanks.

You don’t mean you want to stop watching do you?

A father dreams of choking his 10 year old son, a woman sleeps with the man who held a knife to her throats and murderers continue to walk around town with little remorse — and some comment about a day player is what annoys the most?

The ICE officer was treated in the same vein as the PCPD and WSB — ineffective law enforcement agencies unable to solve crimes.

And that is the rub right there, Steve! Our brave, real-life ICE officers are now anything BUT ineffective in their duties since the “new sheriff” came to town and decided to enforce existing laws that had been ignored for years! (Hence that “day player” was an intended diss to ALL of them and the policies they represent, as some don’t like it very much that these people are finally free to once again do their jobs.) I’ll leave my explanation at that, because I know you have voiced your displeasure with political issues being discussed too much on a soap site, and I can respect that. Personally, I’d like to see less of them broached not only here, but on entertainment programs, as well, and yes, that definitely includes GH! Oh, and for the record, I’ve personally slammed plenty of revolting, immoral characters/storylines from the show, and that includes those concerning Ava, Sonny and most especially, Alexis!!!!!

I actually don’t even think he’s legit. Sonny called him personally to deport Jax. And, the guy never showed his papers. Just a thought…

Again, effectively on point, Steve.

If you ever read the writers’ twitter feeds you will see that more time, energy, and effort seems to be put into bashing current admin., much more so than effort put towards plausible story, character development–etc. I get the political digs being made, don’t care for them and again, did not add any good ingredients to the stew- but I am not going to stop watching. I am still furious over AMC OLTL cancels and will not watch The Chew out of spite-though some of the recipes look good when I see the last 2 minutes of it right before GH comes on. But I hear you on ICE.

Well, thank you for that heads up, Maureen! Although I seldom venture over to any Twitter pages to speak of, those aforementioned ones will definitely be on my ever-expanding “avoid at all cost” list! Quite frankly, if these GH writers—or any of their like-minded malcontents in Hollywood, for that matter—would put as much effort into creating entertaining products that everyone could enjoy, rather than wasting their God-given talents alienating a good half of their potential audiences, we would all have something worth applauding. Instead, what we are getting are endless examples of vitriol aimed at our new administration, such as that extremely uncalled-for moment of smug, self-satisfied snarking which totally ruined what should have been solely a celebration of an iconic GH character who will be greatly missed by viewers of EVERY political persuasion!

OK! I stand by my original comment above which was based on the excerpts Michael Fairman ran. I’ve just finished reading the entire interview by Michael Logan and it reinforced my opinion here as it related ONLY to the partial interview on this site.

However! After reading the interview in its entirety, which I said I’d do, it completely fills in what I felt was lacking here. The excerpts that we were shown were not GH-centered and read to me as a lackluster…almost q negating of the Tracy Q role and GH.

The entire interview is wonderful. Jane comes off as so wise, intelligent, articulate and warm. Down to earth. I like how she described her work, her different roles and the business side of things. She also left the slightest door open for a GH return…for however brief…down the road…a few years from now (hopefully, GH will still be on the air). A “slight” door open, but still….

She also mentions more of GH and her high opinion of Wally Kurth. There! Good interview, Jane! As for the excerpt above vs the entire interview…the sum IS greater than its parts!

Yes! And I’ve always thought Wally Kurth could hold his own–with warmth and humor–don’t you think?

Hi Nancy! Yes, I’ve always loved Wally. I really, really hope he’s sticking around this time. It was such a bad move when they let him go the other times. He’s just such a force of goodness, intelligence, humor. And he and Monica are the last of the original Qs (I know Wally wasn’t the first Ned but he goes way back).

Thanks for pointing me to the entire interview. It really did make a difference, filling in the gaps from what I felt was missing here.

Hope all’s well with your mom!

How nice. Self-serving and disingenuous, but sweet. Reality is this is Michael Fairman’s site and comment pages, not your personal public journal, nor a bully pulpit and you use it arbitrarily for both. I am not going to cower and run from your nasty comments and mean-girl games.

Thank you for having the courage and honesty to speak the truth.

Judith, once again, I’ve never spoken to you here in the entire time I’ve been posting…unless you had a different name and are someone else. If not, I have no idea why you’re suddenly “on me” and honestly, I could care less. If someone, again, finds that to be a nastry response, then, LOL, let’s read your comment to me above which I’m responding to.

So…go away. Thanks!

True and long over due.

Yes, Judith! More, Judith, please!

You have insulted a myriad of posters on here, myself included, over the years -people that never even addressed you, personally, but made the grave error of expressing their opinions on a character on a show. I have stayed out of here since your last rabid attack. You love to tell others how they don’t have the intelligence or comprehension of a snail-to put it mildly-then make nice with others to play the victim. It is so refreshing to see someone stand up to you and your bullying on here. You have never once apologized to anyone, ever. Wish you would consider going away instead of telling other people to do so.

No idea what you’re talking about. Seriously. I actually think there are posters going by several names. But, I’ll play.

I’ve never insulted anyone…I’ve defended actors who have been insulted…for age, looks, accents, etc. There are quite a few people on here who are snarky…just read through the posts. At least when I get to that point I’m either defending myself or a principle. I don’t “bully” anyone. Matter of fact, I never gang up on anyone either as a handful of you are doing.

It’s fine. Really, it’s interesting on a sociological level to see how people like to band together and turn on others.

Oh. Why don’t you dig up those supposed bullying comments I’ve made…I’d love to see them. Telling people to go away? I think I have a right to do so when that person’s insulted me. No? Ummmm. Yes!

I don’t “play” nice. I’m quite real. I’m very friendly with people whom I respect and who I share friendly opinions with even if we disagree. And for those who choose to be nasty…you get what you give.

Thanks for your input, Frank. LOL.

Hi, rebecca.
Yes, it is good to get along; with everyone.
As I said to Shay, I hold no rancor. Life’s too precious to tear each other’s hair out.
The comment to Judith was a part of the rest of my comment which was not posted.
Rest assured, it was not against you. Just the opposite. It was not against anyone. There are enough posters here who have agreed with her. Therefore, such must be telling you something? Think about it.
I do not play both sides. I do not have that in me.
Nonetheless, as Frank, with whom I have communicated in the past, is a gentleman, and the ‘comprehension’ ‘stuff’ he mentioned, is actually true. Why? Because you said that not only did I have no comprehension skills, but, you also said I needed to see a psychiatrist.
My point? It is done….in the past. I am communicating with you, yes? I’d like to continue doing that because I find we do have certain things in common.
But, when I saw Harry’s/Addison’s comment ( laughable) and then Shay’s, I could not resist. All is forgiven, trust me. No way do I want to revisit that place….
As I try to say to Shay being on the receiving does catch up with us. None of us can escape THE wrath.

“your” baby, not “you” baby.

This exit storyline is underwhelming
perhaps had Samira been played with a dynamic quality…

And if somehow her eyes didn’t look so creepy- I have to remind myself that her character isn’t blind. But everytime I see her eyes (assuming bad color contacts) starring blankly, she really does give off the impression that she is blind.

Such a classy lady Jane Elliot is. I have a sneaking thought that one of the reasons Jane is deciding to leave “General Hospital”, might have to do with how the character of quirky Tracy Quartermaine has been written… I, myself, would say pretty much once Bob Guza, Jr. was axed as “Head Writer” from the show (“General Hospital”). I, myself, as an avid Port Charlesian fan and or viewer, think and / or feel that Tracy wasn’t involved in as many of the storylines as she definitely was “back in the day”.

The only reason Tracy survived Guza’s Quartermaine Bloodbath was tying her to Luke. He refused to write for Monica or Ned, so they were bumped initially to recurring then nowhere to be found.

I’m no Geary fan (and I love JE) but if it wasn’t for him, Jill Phelps would have moved Jane off contract years ago.

Unfortunately some people have cement in their heads here. Jane is retiring! The article was about her 50 year CAREER! Not just a GH send off! The woman chose a character from Guiding Light, so what! I never watched that show but that is JANE’S favorite character, her right. I loved her as TRACY. Thats my CHOICE! I love her portrayal of Tracy but I love more that she is a women who has control of her life, made a decision and will enjoy the next chapter in her life. She deserves that. Its like any retiree. They retire. Some un-retire and go back and fiddle with small jobs. She may. She may not. I love that this women is honest and comfortable in her own skin. Her comments about demos and writers was very raw and truthful. It gives me a little bit more of an understanding about the team of JELLY. Yes, they can do better BUT sometimes their hands are tied because it is a different time. Also, I have said this before, soaps want to build their audiences with new viewers BUT a lot of the kids today DONT even watch TV. You cannot hold their attention any longer than that of a TWEET! Write the soaps for the long time fans and lets honor the VETS on these shows who are old pros that can deliver! God bless Jane, thank you.

And it turned all types of political too HEE HEE

What a hearfelt post, Timmmy. Wow!! I always knew you were one-of-a-kind guy, albeit I don’t ‘know’ you. LOL. Sometimes people don’t need to meet, in the flesh, to appreciate a sense of integrity and honesty.
So glad you’re my soap friend.
Furthermore, your love of Tracy is touching. I did not know Jane/Tracy until GH, and, as a latecomer. But, I fell under her spell, as well. There’s something about her that reels us in. Can’t put my finger on it. Perhaps, it’s the character’s in-your-face demeanor, by taking the bull by the horns. Mostly, I admire her tenacity and her style of staring people down. I, too, will miss her.
Later.

Hey, CeeCee. It’s good to be able to exchange comments with you again in a good-natured way. However, if you’re playing both sides please stick with one! On the one hand, you send me a friendly reply to something I’ve posted, then you jump on the bandwagon (it seems from your comment above to Judith which seems to be missing a part…). So, if we’re back to being friendly on here; great. If not, let’s keep it consistent! More sincere that way, doncha think?

Thanks Cee, my friends and family will agree with you, I am one of a kind and I LOVE it! And you are correct, we dont have to meet to ever be friends but if we did, we would be best friends!

Appreciate your kindness, Celia. Thanks very much

@CeeCeeGirl! Hello, mia amica! Despite all the fun we’ve been having with Luke’s funky new look, of course, I realize that he would fit right in amongst Amsterdam’s denizens!!! (Enough episodes of Scandi-noir attests to that notion as numerous Nords have rocked that same style, series after series!) It was just such a shock to see him in all his “Breck Girl” glory after years of nearly-naught strands. Well, that, and the strangely-smooth skin he displayed in sharp contrast to his craggy, careworn complexion of yore. But, hey, AG is what he is….a true original! Enough said! Anyway, it’s lovely that you have “escaped” to MV…..after this brutal thread we could all use a nice break!!! Furthermore, I completely agree that Mr. Fairman never envisioned this sort of scenario for his website…he’s between a rock and a hard place with this nonsense, yet to read post after post of what I consider to be nothing less than an “intervention,” it cannot be denied that a lot of real people have been at best, truly offended, and at worst, deeply hurt, by one individual’s bad behavior and that’s just not okay! I don’t understand why that is considered “over-dramatizing” that fact! If I had received copious replies such as those we’ve witnessed, I would have been mortified and so greatly ashamed that I wouldn’t have been able to resurface here again, except to make a heartfelt apology to all those affected. At any rate, I know conditions are much better at other soap threads, but at this point, I’m barely keeping up with GH, let alone any other shows, so it would feel a bit disingenuous to mosey on over to those pages dedicated to fans of the other three programs…but I’ll try to check them out, just the same! I’m just glad you have other places to go to opine, since I know how much you enjoy the majority of your visits–and other contributors—here. Having said that, thank you again for your always beautifully benevolent sentiments…regardless of being mocked for my expressions of appreciation, I truly do feel that way, not just in reference to your kind statements, but those of everyone who took the opportunity to send them to both of us. Why being gracious about that particular matter–or any other—is regarded as fodder for derision is beyond me…..along with those untold aspects of this website that remain a mystery! Oh well, best be going! Have a wonderful stay on “the island” and do try to keep in touch….somewhere! I shall do the same…Later, bella!

Everything you said is oh so true and most intelligently put, “Mr. One of A Kind,” Timmmbo! Kudos!!! When I first read Mr. Fairman’s coverage of Jane Eliot’s parting interview, I found his summary very interesting, but it certainly didn’t spurn me on to throw some sort of insane hissyfit because….gasp!….Tracy Q. didn’t end up being this veteran actress’s favorite daytime role…it was certainly her prerogative to choose, and choose she did in this wide-ranging discussion that covered her entire impressive career. (Having my curiosity piqued, I did further peruse her thoughts on another website.) Consequently, I came away with much respect not only for this woman’s candid assessment of the soap business, but her refreshing candor about the variety of characters she has portrayed over the years. However, I still cannot see what the big deal was in reference to some of Jane’s opinions…whether expressed in their abridged version here at MFSoaps or in full text in Mr. Logan’s article. For anyone to have made so much ado about these comments by this beloved soap opera icon strikes me as really quite strange and OTT….seems to me that if an individual gets that bent out of shape over a few honest—albeit perhaps surprising—remarks that apparently don’t meet with their expectations/approval, then they truly need to get a life outside of the soaps….not to mention some well-advised therapy, too!!!!!

Ya think?

Speaking from an educated viewpoint on the subject, therapy would most likely not be sought in the first place, it is rare, only later in life if at all. Oftentimes, when it is sought, the same denials and the therapist is then challenged and attacked verbally. Sounds strange, but it is not the fault or a fault, it is a disorder that occurs in more people than most realize and usually occurs as a result of childhood traumas, abuse, neglect or a weird combo platter of things. The subject is fascinating to me and many others and many variations played out in one form or the other on our soaps. It truly is impossible to make rational points and the truth is so often rearranged to suit the offender leaving others hurt and especially confused and it is not fun-at least for friends and family members- many seek help themselves and are advised to set firm boundaries and in a lot of cases have no contact in order that they may reclaim their own lives and have some semblance of normalcy.

Betty Broderick has the disorder. La Jolla socialite murdered ex-husband and his new wife. The 2 movie Meredith Baxter so excellent and now many years later, Betty is unable to admit wrongdoing on her part. Yep. It was his. She is very clever and did her best to manipulate and won a mistrial claiming battered wife, Only she was never battered. Yes, hubs cheated and lied and dumped her. Considering her behaviors, who wouldn’t? Control of others and image so very important. Manipulative with her own children, husband, the press when on trial–sound familiar at all? We solved our own murder and lived to tell!

Thank you sweetheart. It seems that in society today SOME people seem to jump off the deep end if their cupcake is missing a sprinkle! Some people are sitting and waiting for a fight. They troll everyone’s posts and attack in a cowardly way. [Sounds like ISIS] They won’t have an educated debate with you because of your own opinions. IF you dont agree with them, you are WRONG! Sounds like this country right about now! Jane is a wonderful, talented women who SHOULD be a role model to others and is to some but if she doesnt say exactly what others want o hear, LOOK OUT! Its like Tony Geary, he walks out on his OWN terms, doesnt say what SOME fans want to hear and people despise him for that. HE can say and feel how he wants! Do we still have that right in America? Now I will admit, he didnt seem to pacify us long time L&L fans BUT, all these people on this sight love Laura and if Luke and Laura would have ran off into the sunset, Genie wouldnt be on the show today. I dont really care what Tony does or says, I likeD him on GH, PERIOD. Bye sweet Shay!

I know it is absolutely none of my business, but I would love to know what a union pension for what 40 years or so of working in tv looks like. Not in any begrudging way, whatsoever. Jealous, totally. But love my Janey girl and wishing her a beautiful and fun retirement.

This is an open comment to anyone who cares to read it.

This site, as others on the web allows people to come out of the woodwork and think they can insult others behind their screens. Attack. And then get encouraged by posters who “side with them.”

We see it on Twitter, on Facebook and everywhere else. On Variety. com, political articles, etc.

I am only going to explain this because I’m so disgusted with a few of you that I need to vent. Take it as you want. Or don’t.

I stated my opinion about the excerpt from Jane’s interview. I didn’t direct my opinion to anyone, insult anyone, argue with anyone. I gave MY opinion. If you don’t like that opinion you can ignore it…or you can disagree in a way that’s not insulting. You like Jane Elliot? Great. So do I. Actually, if anyone has ever read my posts I usually defend actors…whether it be their looks, age, storylines, etc. However, in this case I explained my reasons why I felt Jane dissed her own character, didn’t seem to care about the character and how that made me negatively. I’m entitled to that interpretation. That’s how I felt when I read it. There was no need for a personal attack which I then received. When I’m attacked, I’ll return the favor. As many of you have, will do, when/if it’s directed at you.

I further said I don’t know Jane (obviously, most of us don’t on a personal level) but I love the character Tracy. I then added Jane might be a wonderful person but I was disappointed in what I read. In rereading my comment I would have tamed it a bit by not saying she seemed to “not give a damn” but that came from my gut in the moment.

Either way, this isn’t an apology. I don’t owe anyone here anything, nor do you owe me or each other. Best we can hope for is civility and respect.

The few times I’ve gotten into arguments here have been when I felt actors were being attacked due to their age or physical appearance. Because at that point it leaves the fictional world and it’s a personal insult to another human being and that doesn’t sit right with me. I don’t want to hear someone being called old, wrinkled, fat, buck-toothed or anything else. That’s when I go into a mode defending others and in so doing, arguing with people who think it’s okay to do so.

I’ve seen people here insult the adorable child star who plays little Emma. And I didn’t hear anyone complain. I’ve heard people bash Anthony Geary…and I didn’t hear anyone complain. Nancy Grahn and I didn’t hear anyone complain. However, I said I was disappointed in the excerpt and a handful of people are all over the place with their wrath.

Again. I’m not defending myself. I said it and I stick with the impression I had UNTIL I read the entire interview. Either way, don’t come at me with your high and mighty personal insults because I dared say something you didn’t like. When it comes to race, age, religion, sexual preference, physical appearance, disability…politics…yep, we understand these are important issues.

When “Judiith” whoever this person is addressed me, she (or he) could have said…”why do you think Jane doesn’t give a damn about the character? I didn’t get that from what she said…” And, a civil conversation could have ensued. But, instead, she chose to insult me…when I said nothing to or about her…and thus started the “fun” to which others jumped in and attacked ME, LOL, instead of her for originating the nastiness.

Take a look at yourselves before you jump on the bandwagon.

You attack and insult others from behind your screen, you rationalize it while saying you are not defending yourself, you insult other people and their intelligence, their identity- either fake or imposter or man/woman #graspatstraws – I do not enjoy confrontations nor do most other people– so many sit in silence-and have-while you bully and justify and attack and rinse, repeat and this has gone on here for years with you chasing people out of the comment section. So when one person has finally had just enough of you and all that is you- man or woman or low comprehension or whatever it may be– it bursts the floodgates for others who have held their tongues and let you run amok. Enough out of you for a good long while, but we all know that is too much to hope for.

I’m so not insulted. I’d love for you or anyone to give me an example. There have been exactly three people I’ve had continuous run-ins with on this site…and it all started over a GH storyline and proceeded from there.

I’m not going to go into anything again. I’ve said what I feel, meant, am. If you or anyone else disagrees, fine. Do I think you’re individual posters or perhaps the same two or three with multiple names…perhaps. Don’t know.

But I know what you’ve accused me of I haven’t done. There’s enough snark around this site and I’ve witnessed several “attacks” on other posters. Once a few of you sink into your latest “victim” you hold tight.

Funny!

Barb, I love you!

This has been going on for years it is crazy and I went to another subject to get away from it and there it was, so I left. I wonder if it is a bot or computer program- it seems to stick to the same mode of operation repeatedly and almost robotically. Hi Barb!!

And by the way, thank you again, Harry, for having the strength of character to step up for me. Easier to keep silent or to sit back and enjoy the latest “show.” Later! 🙂

Hi again, Rebecca–and thanks for asking about Mother. She’s medically stable still–went out in the sun two days with pt and me. She is still eating well– I will leave in about 20 min. to go help her with breakfast (“mash” her boiled egg, put milk and sugar in her oatmeal, do restorative exercises, etc). Thanks so very much for your inquiry and your empathy. I always appreciate your kind thoughts. Have a great day. 🙂

Hi Nancy. You’re welcome, again! I know what you’re going through is tough…and so nothing compared to the crap that’s being slung on this board. In the scope of life…so unimportant.

Hang in there. And thank you for your support out here! 😉

Leave Judith alone!

Most of the people on this thread were on here the last time that I remember this happened and I remember– Michael Fairman himself had to step in because the situation was out of control and escalating. It was at least over a year ago and was on a page regarding General Hospital. There were well over like 400 comments on the page. I have tried to find it but there are hundreds of pages and I was not a player, merely an observer, so find your own page but it is there.
There were several posters new and regular and the posts, in my opinion, were harmless and extremely witty and amusing and people kept piping in with new over-the-top things. Some of the best ever in posts. Then rebecca1 inserted self into conversation and also posted how obviously people could not comprehend and -well pretty much exactly what she has said here. People got their feelings hurt being told they were stupid and so forth and responded to her and pretty much exactly same as now but she was calling people out by name and not going to apologize. I know darn well that there are people on here that now what I am talking about and that I am telling the truth. Some of the new posters had no idea what was going on and were offended and did not return that I have seen. I wish that none of this had ever happened, as it totally ruined some highly entertaining and hysterical creative writing among posters on here that were enjoying each other’s wit and repartee and not the boring and repetitive criticism as per usual. Please post my post- and please others verify me. Thanks.

Yes, Gary, that did happen. But my interpretation is a different than yours.

Here’s the background. There are three specific people I had an ongoing feud with here. I’m not going to mention their names. One, the one the “feud” actually started with…and I…managed for the most part to get over it and become friendly. Our friendly rapport slides now and then. But at least we tried…

It began way before the event you mentioned. It was during the story when the character Nina kidnapped Ava and tried to take her baby. I thought the acting was fantastic and the story compelling, though difficult to watch. Because of THAT opinion, a poster said to me, “I guess you like seeing babies harmed,” which put me on the defensive. I responded that, noooooooo…because I thought the story was fantastic/compelling/incredibly acted it’s ridiculous to say something like that to me. Instead of apologizing to me, the poster kept at me, it got heated…and then someone else chimed in and egged her on.

After that, there was tension. The two posters who had become friends kept bringing up things which I consider to be ageism. Nancy Grahan was/is constarntly attacked…she was called old, her “wrinkled breasts” should not be shown and her sexual scenes wtih Julian were unrealistic because of her age…she was like “a dog in heat” and she should be home knitting booties.

I defended the actress and the character because I don’t like those types of comments. Where MY comment regarding the Nina/Ava story was about a nightmarish scene which I thought well-acted and gripping/while disturbing…their comments were insulting an actress about her age/looks, etc. The fights ensued on almost every thread Alexis and Julian were mentioned. It took on a life of its own. Since that time, a third poster befriended the two…and they persisted in the type of “jump on the bandwagon” behavior. I became the lone voice for defending against ageist comments and it just spiraled.

During the episode you’re referring to, I believe it was about “Alexis” again. Things were said and I made the “grand” mistake of saying something like…”I don’t know how anyone doesn’t see this about the character…there’s either some grand comprehension thing going on or just ageism” something like that. Don’t remember exactly. But, yes, in that moment I said something snarky. (Out of ALL the previous attacks that were going on across the board on didfferent threads by various posters on various subjects..that was THE comment that took off because the three posters I didn’t get along with encouraged it to keep going… People I’d never heard of suddenly appeared and started the “group mentality.” I stepped back, thought about what I’d said…and apologized. Explaining that it was said because a button had been pushed due to the history on said subject. But no, that wasn’t enough. It went on and on and on…and just like now…certain people, one who is part of that history, tried to literally “recruit” people to continue the assault. (see above if interested). Again, tried to explain the “faux pas” and walk it back…but nope…the jury wasn’t having it. Those who had been offensive in the past, who had said far worse and had antagonized and belittled each time I defended the Alexis character as well as the actress herself…who always continued with their trio clique and talked openly with offensive, antagonistic comments about me in a school-age type behavior to “gang up” on one person had found their “moment.” Here, they were “getting supporters”. So, with each new person “jumping on the bandwagon” it kept going on and on and on. One of the three said, as above, “oh, you don’t know what we go through, (not verbatim but something to that effect) and openly egged people on. Again, it sprialled. So what you considered “witty, amusing, etc,” was just posters banding together to attack one.

Immature, unrelenting group mentality. I’ve seen other posters attacked on this site, as I’m sure have you all. Just the other day one poster said they were the first to predict something in the storyand another poster replied “hate to tell you, there’s no contest. No one considers you the “winner” but you.” Again, not verbatim but something to that effect.

Other times others are put down for their constant negativity…”you don’t like anything, do you,” or…”how dare you not like so and so…one poster was attacked because she’d said she’d met some of the actors and she knew a particular actor didn’t feel a particular way and was attacked for her “know–it-all” post and was doubted if she ever met the actors. She, too, was verbally assaulted. There are many such incidents where people get nasty to another.

As said, I usually defend…although at times stories and opinions evoke different responses out of people and we all get “involved” with our viewpoints. There are some who though we’ve disagreed on a few posts, we remain pleasant and continue on.

This incident is reminiscent of the other as you mention. However, I said nothing other than my opinion about an excerpt. The response I got was an attack on me…not an objective difference of opinion. Thus, my unpleasant response to her. And then…SHE was defended. See above. So, yeah, when you come at someone you’re going to get an attitude. When someone apologizes, like I did in the first event you mentioned, and people STILL feel the need to attack, well, that’s their thing, not mine.

People seem to pick and choose who they’re going to “gang up on.” Some people, who probably agree with me, don’t want to put themselves on the line. Human nature.

There have been many insulting things said about people and the actors. I’ve been a staunch defender, particularly of women of a certain age. I’ve also defended the actress who plays Valerie who upon immediate appearance was ridiculed for her teeth. I think she’s beautiful and said so. There is a continuous barrage of personal insults to the actors…I’ve tried to explain that these are real people and it’s really insulting to personally criticize their looks, age, etc. I’m extremely sensitive to others. Which is why, when rereading my own response regarding Jane’s excerpt, I didn’t like that I had said, she doesn’t seem to “give a damn” about Tracy. I, myself, didn’t like that when I reread it but there’s no edit button) Other than that, I stand by my impressions of the excerpt. And, LOL, the fact I’m even writing War and Peace (how appropro) to explain this all is hilarious that its gotten this far. After criticizing me, why don’t you go back up this thread and see how it all started. I gave my comment and Judith responded with a personal insult to me…which I then responded with a nasty comment back. Makes sense to me…and this is where I would say…are the posters having a “comprehension” problem because again…there’s seems to be a misreading of who attacked who. (whom?)

This has either given you some history, or not. Either way, there’s no apology from me. I gave my opinion and got insulted. It’s not me who should be apologizing.

I hope other posters continue to express their opinions in spite of what just happened here. We’re all entitled to them…and I, for one, will continue to voice my opinion and continue to post against personal attacks regarding age, looks, etc. And, as always, it’d be great if there was any possibility of an edit button so that words said in the moment, like mine, about Jane not giving a damn about her character, could be corrected. However, in lieu of that if a second look/thought and a retraction of a particular word is regretted as I expressed…which again…not for the sake of fellow posters but should Jane read the comments…but if that’s not enough for certain posters than that’s his/her issue, not mine.

While you’re busy dissecting my comments and trying to insinuate something about me, perhaps take a read at the so-many negative comments that have been expressed by a handful of others at actors as well as each other. I’m not the “culprit”of this board. I’ve seen or heard about this group mentality being engaged in on FB, Twitter, etc. Wow! Let’s not even get started on the Michael Muhney discussions…people were at each others throats. Ridiculous…

Gary, nail on the head, thank you!

I remember, but it is pointless, a total waste of time to give this any more energy as it will not result in anything just like time after time before.

I have posted several times as of late and most are not published which I find extremely irritating since they are certainly G rated-yet others get full-page spreads over and over to espouse their innocence and victimization by others on here who are obviously horrible folks or fake folks or whatever. Gary, yes, true and no apologies were ever made to anyone ever nor will they be. Moving on.

You are correct. I wish they would ban the offending poster instead of giving it full-on air time like to the point of insanity. Now I will most likely get some messed up response and I can not stand it at all. Where is Judge Judy for a ruling on all of this-seriously calling for a legitimate something to make this end. Stop allowing it to drive others away like the plague.

I verify, Gary…and, not afraid to do so. But, rebecca will say I play both sides.
Not so…..I chose the side of peace, and heeded Mr. Fairman, after retaliating. No way did I take it laying down. By the same token, some hurtful words may be forgiven, but not forgotten….Shay, Timmm and many others may attest to that.
I like interacting with everyone here. I am a people’s people…taking the good with the bad.
It is I who must thank you, Gary, for taking the time. Kudos!!

Gary you told the truth and then had it all twisted and thrown in your face and it is despicable and I appreciate you telling the truth and shining light in the dark abyss.

Please to verify and add that her version of the truth is pure fiction. She has never apologized to anyone and has been a bully on here for years and continues to on this very page and no doubt will continue to. Her role as staunch defender translates that she will anytime a post does not please her immediately assail the writer’s intelligence, veracity and turn and twist the knife and play victim.

Yes Gary is telling the truth and so are the others on here.

Absolutely verified!!!! It happened over April Fool’s Weekend 2016. Been there…done that!

@Shay.
Yes, amica mia….it also happened on the Antonio Sabato Jr. site; Januaty 17th.

Well said, Rebecca!

I completely understand your point. Here we are devasted to be losing Tracy Quartermaine, and (in the interview) Jane does belittle the character. I’m sure it came out wrong in the interview, but it is like pouring salt on our wounds.

I always look forward to your comments and really appreciate the time you take to comment. 🙂

Thank you, Abruzzfan! I appreciate you stepping up for me and understanding where I was coming from (which began this insane “condemnation.” LOL) As I mentioned, if you’re interested look up the entire interview. It reads better and fills in some gaps.

Thanks so much again. I look forward to and enjoy your comments, as well.
🙂

You have never apologized to anyone on here ever. You have re-written history to make others look and feel bad and present yourself as a heroine to the oppressed. Nothing could be further from the truth. I do not wish to engage with you in any way but I am not going to have you turn my words around or treat other people on here like dirt as you do.

Gary…Like I said it’s all in the eyes of the beholder. Guess you and I will have to agree to disagree about how we interpret other’s words, observations and intent. And act on them. Because we obviously see things differently.
And if I can approach this in a more neutral way, more and more I find it amazing how much the same we can all be, and yet be so different in sensibilities and views. This is one of the big questions in life for me. I’ll end with a 🙂 here to let you know I can be quite friendly.

You have been insulting and rude and dishonest all over this page and been doing it for years and that is the truth regardless of how you spin it.

Ooops! I left out the quotation marks.

Brian replied May 1st, 2017 at 1:06 pm

“Is someone supposed to make sense out of this nonsensical word salad?”

You wrote this in reference to Patrick’s comment about the Emmy wins.

Now, really, do you not see the utter hypocrisy of yourself?

Enough! I’ve enough of this onslaught against Rebecca1!
This is the most out-of-hand thread! I’m with Rebecca1! She said no worse than ANY of you handful of people on here that have the nerve to gang up on her!
Soap fans are way over the top! Rebecca said nothing wrong. I’ve been following this page since she posted her first comment and her opinion on Jane Elliot’s part interview. She didn’t think Jane sounded enthusiastic about GH or her role. It disappointed her. Big deal!!! She felt let down and had hoped Jane would express some sentiment about leaving. I agree with Abruzzfan who also agreed with Rebecca. In THIS excerpt I can see where she (they) felt that way. Either way, this subsequent attack on Rebecca…yes, starting with Judith, got way out of line. And Rebecca answered accordingly. Good for her!
I, for one, appreciate your posts, Rebecca1. They are always wise, insightful and intelligent. Well written. There are always the band of suspects who like to gang up on you when they see an opening.
Some of us, myself included, don’t post a lot. But we read the posts. So, I’m not very vocal out here but this was too much to not respond to. Don’t let these nasty, vengeful people get to you. As you have pointed out, they have each made quite a few comments on this site that have not been the nicest.
To add insult to injury, you took the time to explain yourself and they’d have none of it. Who cares. Don’t even bother.
Keep posting, Rebecca. They’re the ones stuck in their rude behavior!
Best to you.

@Brian….As one of those people who mildly chided you for your albeit cleverly-put “word salad” query—in the most good-natured manner possible, might I add…—I am awaiting your rude, condescending, indignant, unhinged and nasty response in which you tell me that I’m obnoxious, I need to go away and the website is a much better and more harmonic place without me. C’mon now…time’s a-wasting…Chop chop!!!!

Thank you, too, MichelleK! I wrote you an immediate reply but it didn’t make the cut.

I’m not familiar with you but I do appreciate your kind words. We need people like you out here! Hope you start to post and know that there are some friendly people on this site who don’t do the group attack mentality thing. Sigh…life imitates art…in this case…in this current political climate…this type of behavior imitates what’s going on “out there.”

Best! And thanks again!

Guess it’s all in the eyes of the beholders. So I just want to get the record straight about the overblown Rebecca bashing.

I’ve been here since the beginning of the “differences of opinions” brought up in this thread. And have at times defended and been engaged in the Alexis/Julian ageism story, liked Sabrina, thought Valerie was ill-served by the writers. And never got cutesy or rude about any other actor’s roles or appearances like some which still hasn’t stopped to this day.

And what some others on this thread have been accusing Rebecca of has been done in spades by “the other side” …many of whom seem to be coming out of the woodworks, or somewhere, for this particular thread.

And speaking for me, over the last few months I’ve noticed regulars I’ve quite enjoyed in the past have been posting less in the last while, if at all. And not with the same humor or wit when they do. I have some thoughts about why, but I won’t get into that. But partly, maybe it’s because we are sick of all the negative that’s out there, and for too many, become acceptable mainstream language. Not what I originally came to MF for in the beginning.

Thank you, Rose. So glad to have met you on here…and our shared sensibilities regarding some wonderful shows outside of soaps and our similar views/sentiments on the “current climate” reinforce my feelings on that. I get the feeling we’d be friends offline, as well.

I remember the wit and humor and miss it but it was attacked as being one thing or another and so were the people who were being witty and funny and I made the mistake of putting my two cents in and was told how stupid I was, among other things and did not post again, and most certainly did not appreciate it and yes, still hold a grudge, I guess. The actors and writers and producers of these shows are all either loved or hated or so and so should have got the emmy and when one is taken off contract or a new actor replaces another- there is hell to pay and this goes on and on and will and yes a lot of times it is very mean and nasty-I never saw that on here but it was painted as that and then the posters attacked. The day the humor died. I am guilty, certainly, of curiosity about certain hair or lack thereof and characters behaviors and so forth so does that make me mean-spirited? And if so, then why is it ok for me to be attacked in the name of defending fictional characters? I am not looking for a fight with anyone whatsoever.

Rose, you are often negative on here and never hesitate to join a thread just to say you don’t think it is funny or you don’t care for this or that. I don’t share your viewpoints on a lot of issues you discuss on here that have nothing to do with soaps. But I never interject myself, nor do I see others disrespect you. Why is it that others who don’t agree with or don’t care for someone’s post or humor- move on to something they like or start their own thread but leave the others alone? You did not like it when jokes were made about Ivy’s electrocution and you don’t like this and that. Not one post I can recall called out Rebecca and insulted her repeatedly as she has repeatedly done with others you are way off base there. Why can’t people post on here and not be told off or why even put in you don’t like it. And you wonder where the humor went- well you and your buddy Rebecca took a huge chunk of it.

Sure, there was a lot of questionable segments during the whole Samira plot which thankfully culminated on Monday’s episode.

And just as Jane sang his praises, Wally Kurth and Ned come out the true hero in the story. Tracy can leave town knowing she leaves the family in good hands. (Frank, put WK on contract!) I’ll give credit to Jelly for wrapping it up in a way that answered many of the questions we had and ships off Imitation Ashton forever.

Maybe now Ned will change his last name to Quartermaine.

Agree, Steve. Actually, now that I think about it I wonder why Ned ever took Ashton’s name. From what I recall he was never close to his father…

It’d be great if Michael went back to his Q name…I think… but now I’m not sure…he was Corinthos, changed it to Quartermaine but then went back to Corinthos when he forgave Sonny.

With Maurice Bernard yielding so much power over there, we are stuck with milquetoast Michael Corinthos.

Ned has the Ashton name because up until he was in his 20’s, Larry was assumed to be a Lord. Tracy would have wanted her son to inherit the title.

Hi Steve…

Yep; you may be right regarding Maurice/MIchael Corinthos. Though I’d like to think the writers would realize that many of us want Michael to show more loyalty to AJ…to at least MENTION him from time to time.

And thanks for the Ashton clarificiation.

@Steve…Whether he goes by the surname of Ashton or Quartermaine, I’ve never held much affection for Ned, and that is particularly true now that he felt compelled to overshare with us on Monday the direction in which he so proudly “swings!” (TMI!)

I don’t know how I missed that part-and sorry I did. But I love, deeply love Ned. He is so tan and handsome and charming and sexy. Did I mention that I love him? I loved AJ, too then he went to Bold but is not on that show anymore either and Helena is dead, so can’t count on her to revive him.

I love and adore Ned, too!!

Hi Abruzzfan…hope they’re not getting our hopes up about Ned…and that’s he going to be sticking around this time. I agree. Adore him!

Kudos, Steve! You called it regarding Ned changing his name to Quartermaine! I loved it! Maybe the Q’s are going to rise again. Now if only Michael and Jason would come back to the fold…

Like so many others, I will miss Jane Elliot and our Tracy Angelica Quartermaine. I love Tracy, she’s one of my favorite characters on the show. I find it rather unfortunate that TPTB, once again, royally screwed up a legacy character’s exit from the canvas (Luke/The Fluke) with this ridiculous Samira storyline. The actress who plays Samira gives me the creeps. Honestly, I’ve just forwarded thru the story arc or left it on in the background while doing other things around the house. What a shame!

God bless Jane Elliott and I wish her the very best in her adventures and life. How I love hearing stories from these actors and actresses about how things used to be and so on- Michael Fairman, I wish you would interview the ones who are not on tv now, but still around and beloved and have great stories to tell. But thanks for all you do for the genre, for sure and I watched the Emmys on the internet and I thought it was one of the best and brought back memories of the grand days. The sun is out today and I am grateful to be here another day and wish others on here a great day and since we are all here together may we seek to find common ground and understanding before we rip one another to shreds.

The only scenes I wanted to see were in the Quartermaine house today and if they would have spent the entire hour in there-more than fine by me. I started to cry. I still don’t remember any friendship between Laura and the Q’s and feel she is just being plopped into scenes because she is on contract. What a waste of her talent and those tears running from her eyes just too much and I guess Ned is now Ed. I guess and hope there are more tears tomorrow, as these tears are sweet, filled with love and remembrance.

Obviously no one has ever heard Less is More bloody hell the yammering about a actress who is retiring you think we were in the middle of the second coming give it a rest!! She is retiring after 4o years she said she liked her role on Guiding Lught better she adored Jerry Van Dora my god deal with it take a seat ! Wish the woman a great retirement and shut the bloody hell up!

Jerry Van Dorn my apologies and yes he is a wonderful person and over looked actor!!!

Guiding light!

At least half of the posts I have spent time writing have been discarded and not posted. I never use inappropriate language or anything I could think that would trigger a deletion. From reading other posts I am guessing that many posts are not posted- so what it the point of posting at all then? There are conversations where things are clearly missing and the entire thing is really fiction, as whomever decides what gets in and what stays out- moves their own narrative- whatever that may be-forward. I think it only fair that if you take the time to post on here you are given that respect to be posted or that the parameters are at the very least explained. What is the point? This is not honest nor fair and taints the entire discussion whatever that may be.

I have had the same thing happen and have commented on here maybe a dozen times in past few years and am seeing -or not seeing- about half of my comments and I am not bothering after this. Especially peeved to read your post, not in any way with you, but that you are correct-basically conversations are being manipulated, things left out and in essence this is like reality tv or something because what people are saying is being manipulated and I can see where swearing and threatening and so forth would not be allowed but I have never done that and it would be nice to have some clarity but I feel duped and kind of angry -why bother with the comments if you are only getting what is a partial take on them?

I feel duped and irritated and will go elsewhere. A good deal of my posts never appear and if I am going to be called names and so forth I would think I should be able to defend myself. But you are correct, Maureen, there is no point and these comments are fictionalized since we are not able to read what is really being said and I have never taken advantage of that and do not appreciate being censored when nothing I have said would be considered inappropriate.

Tell me about it, my friends!! Only the chosen few. It’s a miracle whenever I get through.
What is the point?

Celia aka CeeCee…I have tried several times to post this. Perhaps it’s arrived in your email, as we know many times when our posts don’t make it here they sometimes make it to the person’s email. So, let’s see if this one appears here. You have now stated several times that you never attack, you only “defend” yourself. Which is all I’ve done on this post, by the way. However, you attacked me way back when you didn’t like my reaction to the Nina/Ava/baby scene. All I said in a comment was that I thought it was compelling, terrific acting albeit disturbing to watch. Here’s what you wrote to me and attacked me with…which as you know…started our entire feud….

So, by the way, stop rewriting history and playing the victim…like I somehow started insulting you. Your asking me if I liked seeing babies kidnapped, having needles stuck into them…do I ENJOY these…Why? Why would you attack someone’s morals/values, etc and make such a ludicrous statement because I thought a scene was extremely powerful, well done..and yes…uncomfortable. You were insulting my integrity. Did you/do you not see that? YOU started with me…not the other way around…

CeeCee replied November 6th, 2014 at 10:05 pm

@rebecca,

With all due respect, rebecca,I am somewhat dumbfounded by a few of your contradictory statements. You seem to fluctuate between making jokes at the insanity unfolding before the viewer, “….Loved the entire episode”. By the same token, your comment to jimh, “….Although I like the storyline I also am uncomfortable watching it…” …is so contradictory to your first comment. Huh? You like baby snatching storylines? You like kidnapping pregnant women and sticking needles whether I agree with her or not. I suppose I should not get so hot under the collar, but your use of the word “levity” was so not apropos, …..it really did me in.
I appreciate Su, who, at least, does not vacillate and sticks to her guns. I get her….

CeeCee replied November 6th, 2014 at 10:23 pm

Correction…sticking needles into them. Whether I agree with you or not doesn’t even seem to matter since I have no clue what your stance is….

A very interesting point, I think, very valid and don’t understand it and does not seem right and if we are only hearing half of it- I know a lot of times it seems something is missing and I see some posts that are like gibberish one after another that I don’t understand. What is going on with this, can someone please answer?

@Beth…OMG! I couldn’t believe it when I read your interesting theory further down the page, because I posited a similar one a few days back, even though it didn’t make it online. It was something to the effect of “unless this person is the soap-apropos alter-ego of MF—which I seriously doubt—then why should they be dictating who and what is permitted on this website? (I loosely paraphrase….) As I said, I never bought into the notion for a second that such were the situation…least of all because with countless creative irons in the fire, where would Mr. Fairman find the time for such ridiculous nonsense?.He’s a very busy man what with this website, his numerous other soap-related projects and his budding music career! Nobody is that much of a master multi-tasker!!!! However, I have given considerable thought as to why this unbearably bad behavior has been allowed to go on for so long, and I surmised that maybe this individual was a friend or relative known to someone at this website, yet I’ve reached the point where I don’t even think that’s it, because I would hope that after this much utter insanity the person would have been provided some sorely-needed professional help by now. So, for the question of why this business has been allowed to continue ad nauseam? I’m flummoxed. However, I have long pondered the possible motivations and psychological reasoning behind this individual’s conduct, and I’ve arrived at the place where my hunch is that this is either a person who is being paid by a rival media company—they did state they were in publishing, after all—to drive away traffic from this website (In which case, kudos! They are doing a really great job….) or what we have in our midst is someone who’s just plain nasty and truly far too invested in soap operas—-particularly certain characters!—and that the only way they can derive their sick jollies is when they are spreading their misery to everyone else through their poison I-Pad! (Pens are so passe’…) Anyway, Beth, I remember you from your wonderful past posts, especially the Downton Abbey ones. (Ahhh…still missing that show!) I hope that you’ll reconsider your decision to step back from these threads because I always enjoyed your contributions to the conversation, no matter the topic!

I have thought a lot and been emotional and cried watching Jane Elliott yesterday and today. I want to apologize to any and all I have offended with my big mouth on here. I am sorry. Judgement Day to me is a real thing and the time we have is so short and I have been spending over 3 hours a day watching soaps and coming here and reading and commenting. Jane will never invite me to lunch. Nor will Tracy, as she is not real. I need to work on the relations I have with real people in the real world and to nurture those and have those moments that make me cry when I see then on tv. I am signing off from here and going to take Tracy and Jane’s lead and work on me and my life. I must say that Luke looked like a drag queen who had seen much much better days and in my mind Tracy handed him $20 and went on her way. Thanks, and take care- all of you.

Ok. Uhm wow, ok. I sincerely apologize to anyone I have offended or made rude remarks to-even if they were first made to me or others. I am sorry, and I mean it. Life is way too short. The emotions on here and GH and Jane and then reading posts from Celia- so classy and kind and from Maureen and funny interesting people like Shay. I am sorry, Rebecca. I apologize to you and others and actors I have insulted and for wanting to have inappropriate relations with Ned, now Ed, as well. I want to be a better person and to have better relationships with people that I can look at and talk to and eat lunch with and hug. I gave decades to people and shows that were cancelled due to money reasons- but again, they are just fiction and if I am relying so much on fiction and internet to fill my life- something is amiss-and I speak only for myself. I resign from here, effective immediately, in order to pursue a better, life for myself and I, too wish all of you the very best. Wow. Ok, Bye!

Emotional and cried here, too. I do not want to spend my days being insulted or hurling insults to people I don’t even know on the internet all in response to fiction on television. I also spend hours watching soaps and then on here and elsewhere and not how I envisioned my life. I am sorry for the things I have said on here in anger and apologize for any and all things I have said that were hurtful or offensive or rude. I am turning off the tube and going back to the gym and working on real-life issues with real people and putting my house in order. Later, dudes.

Hey Mo– The more I think about it I agree. I have posted and nothing shows up. I have wanted to crack some jokes but would most likely get chewed a new one. I am sick of the people trying to control the things we say and then say bad things and lie about it and get away with it. Only I am not apologizing to any of these people who are sick liars. They can say whatever they want. I am outta here for good. Later.

@Barb and Maureen.
Barb–thank you for the shout out. Means much.
Maureeen: I cried yesterday myself….especially when Tracy had her little talk with Monica.
That scene was so emotional for me because one could see the love between Leslie and Jane….after decades together, they most likely do feel as sisters. I have three of them, LOL…so, whether blood-related on not, having spent most of your life with someone, as Leslie and Jane have, must have created an unbreakable bond.
Nonetheless, ladies, please do not disappear completely from these sites …….we all enjoy your posts.
Stay well.

TY, Maureen….no worries. Keep smiling, my friend!!

I have tried 4 times now to be a part of this conversation and I give up. Talked about my issues with bullying and depression and how it feels like rejection when your posts are not posted. Oh well. I apologized for my comments that have been hurtful.

@Maureen, Frank and Helen….To all you’ve said and then some—AMEN!!!! As a veteran contributor here at MFSoaps, I can unfortunately personally attest that your observations and suspicions are basically correct!!! Not only have copious amounts of comments I’ve submitted in the past—also politely written with great care and free of profanities—-been rejected en masse, but what you have actually read here online is but a small fraction of those posts which I have taken the great time and effort to write. It’s not that I necessarily expect each and every word I offer up to be posted….editorial discretion is one thing as it applies to various guidelines that Mr. Fairman has very specifically spelled out on previous occasions and which I believe most of us do try our best to honor in theory, but to demonstrate what is a clearly deliberate pattern of deleting the majority of certain individuals’ remarks as a means to prevent them from expressing their views, corresponding with other obviously interested and willing parties and especially defending themselves against ongoing campaigns of bullying and defamation, only fairly begs the question as to why. Quite frankly, were it not that I truly enjoy Mr. Fairman’s excellent content, as well as the “company” of most of the lovely people who inhabit this website, I wouldn’t even bother to visit any longer, but I refuse to be denied those pleasures simply because of the endless escapades of what basically comes down to a single troublemaker who has long sought to monopolize these threads, repeatedly target the same posters for whom they harbor personal animosities and dictate who and what is acceptable here. Given the gushing wellspring of abounding disgust and resentment voiced by normally silent—but undoubtedly perceptive—MFSoap readers over this blatantly preferential treatment granted to the rare few, you would think someone would finally realize that the stubborn refusal to alleviate this situation needs to be reviewed…Continuing to fail to acknowledge this fact and attempting to conceal the true scope and depth of the outcry for something to be done only inspires more dissatisfaction and discord. There are surely enough different examples of posters which indicate that there is a legitimate issue worthy of the many complaints that have actually made it here online, so to pretend that this is not a valid point of grievance seems disingenuous, at best. Finally, despite my own deeply declared disappointment with these present matters, I do remain a diehard fan and supporter of this website and appreciate all the hard work that Mr. Fairman and his team put into creating this daily soap opera experience….it is oh-so-fine and one-of-a-kind, so he is rightly proud of his product. However, I— along with so many others like yourselves who have spoken out here—simply want to be able to fully participate in these discussion threads!!! (It would also be my sincere hope to have better future access to those I’ve come to consider as really dear friends!!!) To dispense with the painfully-evident social engineering we are now witnessing would make for a more welcoming atmosphere in general, not just for those of us who are familiar names that have been around for awhile, but nice individuals like Maureen, Helen and Frank who have demonstrated an immense interest in joining in on the conversation!

I wholeheartedly agree, my lovely friend. You went through ‘the battle’ with me….vicious and cruel. Shout out to Timmmbo, as well.
I miss Fanny…..I have only seen her post twice in months. She always “patted” my back, as it were.

I do have a big, forgiving heart and I truly tried to be civil and jovial with a certain someone….to no avail. I understand people and their suffering. Silent pain and heartache is part of my life. Only those eho have lost a child are able to truly understand. That, too, as minimized and guffawed.
I will make myself scarce, somewhat, on all GH sites.
Later, my love.

Celia, of course I had to come back and take a peek. I am truly sorry for the horrible things I said to you, I regret it and honestly find you to be a remarkable woman with a heart full of kindness, bright and thoughtful. I have delighted in your posts and wish you and your family the very best. Shay, so well-spoken, articulate, humor and wit for miles. I really am taking leave. I can’t blaze a trail sitting on my couch and knowing that I have hurt others by my words on here makes me really sit up and take notice and it is not a good feeling inside at all. Again, I apologize for being unpleasant and spiteful and rude on here, and regret it immensely.

I so enjoy reading your words- truly, I have been smitten with your writing since I made the mistake of coming here and then the worse error of posting, I had only posted a few things and was so enjoying myself and honestly did not believe there was any malicious intent or content involved and then came insults and I again in error responded and was called a stalker and that was it for me posting. Every time I think of it I am rattled, furious. I rarely visited, but with Jane leaving I wanted to read the stories. Then I saw someone give her a taste and it was like an early Christmas present. Repeatedly, she was asked to apologize and that only made things worse. Years later, the same bizarre hunt and peck and twist and attack and make up phoney supporters- ok enough. I am shaking and do every time I think of this and my statements- well most of them made the waste can and not printed and find that so infuriating as well and now I guess I sound like a rageaholic and really, I am not- am not a stalker do not wish to harass or communicate with or say anything more about it. I have shed a few tears myself this week and all this drama is so not what I am wanting or needing and makes me feel sick, really. I don’t care to continue on here and I am still so upset, but I will take the time to say that I apologize for my remarks, I regret ever getting involved here except I enjoyed some very clever and humorous people and sorry if that humor was taken as a bad thing I never want to go out of my way to be obnoxious or offensive. I still feel hatred. But I am sorry for my comments and for offending.

This may seem a little out there, but does anyone remember Vikki Buchanan I don’t know if I am spelling her name right but from OLTL and she had DID dissociative identity disorder. I may get banned from here but could that possibly be going on in real life- MF is R1- I mean the more I think about it the more sense it makes to me and he would not even know if he is even in control because if she is in control people still think it is him-and it is him only it isn’t because the alter is driving the bus. Would not that explain quite a bit? I just realized if this is the case then of course, this post will be destroyed. We’ll see. Great posts here. Really appreciated.

Your posts are always excellent- at least the ones that get on here. I thought it was over but I tried to talk to Rose since she replied to me and she seems ok to me and I wanted to talk to her and just get this over but I was deleted again. I know this is free and all. I guess just be grateful for what it is but so frustrating and you wait and wait to find out and then nothing.

@Beth.
I don’t know if this post will make it…..but, anyway….here it goes.
Of course I remember Vicki from OLTL……LOL. And, no, I do not think you’re crazy, albeit I’ve been called that on here by someone.
Actually, when I first joined this group, circa three years ago, I stated that R1 was one of the moderators, not Mr Fairman. She just gets away with too much. Funny, that!!!!! ….if I insulted anyone, it was done in self defense—I am not in the habit of attacking people with a barrage of verbal abuse. However, being reared by two attorneys; I stand my ground when affronted in any way, shape or form.
I was sort of thinking along the same lines. LOL. I love Michael Fairman….I read his bio—-exemplary human being with integrity —so altruistic and loyal…..not to mention his vocal talent–great voice. No, he is not her.
Needless to say, when I brought it up, I was kicked, smashed and whipped with the Cat o’ Nine Tails ( lol) for saying it.

Gary: I have been telling Shay that her writing is ‘extraordinaire’—-she is so good with the plume, she should consider having her writing published….hear that, Shay????
Really need to run……LOL.

Hey CeeCeeGirl! Thank you for your lovely, encouraging sentiments! I’m beginning to think the only means of getting a message through to you shall be to self-publish a book entitled Shay’s Missing MF Posts: The Lost Years!!! (Yes, there have been THAT MANY over quite some length of time….LOL.) Of course, I will dedicate that voluminous work to you, as well as the vast majority of truly wonderful people I’ve encountered here…you’ve all been a real inspiration!

Everytime I see a post I make, I think, maybe the days of missing ones are over, but it is a daily thing on here. The lottery. Multi-state or Shirley Jackson’s -sometimes both or neither. In case of the poison ipad, could blackmail be involved? I don’t know, I would like to step out of the mire and away from it. It certainly has affected a lot of people negatively, and some way classy posts and apologies, which surprised me. I thought perhaps another apology would come, but no. Hell. I am willing to apologize. On another note, there is not one stable loving normal couple on GH. I have started to really dislike Lulu who never seems happy with what she has or about pleasing her husband. There is no wise person people go to for advice, no powerful women that control things that I can see. Love Jane, but Tracy never reached those heights and only because she wasn’t allowed to. Like she said about being a lady gangster- that would have been so good. Grand dames or doyennes is that the term- Y&R had Katherine -Nikki will never be that. Missing Helena, Dorian, Phoebe Tyler, Myrtle Fargate, Enid Nelson, Marion Colby. I do think personality disorder obsessive compulsive something with strong needs to control on other issue ?

Love you, Shay…you know that, yes? As I said to Timmm, one can strike a true friendship without ever meeting, when there is meeting of the heart and mind.
Nonetheless, GH boards have become very stressful. I doubt this was Mr. Fairman’s intention.
As you say, it is due to only one person.
You should visit Days and Y&R…..this nonsense simply does not happen…..not that I have seen.
We’re on MV right now……my husband has medical conference at Mass General….so, I will take advantage of absorbing the island before the summer madness begins.
As far as Geary’s hair? Well, someone mentioned it is the Amsterdam thing going on? Well, not too far from the truth. I am a frequent visitor….I can attest to it. LOL.
Ciao, bella.

Beth, you may be on to something but I don’t know how we can follow through. I hated all the alters except Nikki Smith. I loved her, but she would get so sloppy drunk and mess things up and wish she could have kept it together longer or completely taken over. All the rest of them, I did not care for at all and reject. I liked seeing Nora, but seemed kind of sleazy with her and Valentine and then with Olivia. Now if Nikki smith could come to GH and people think it is Vikki and she takes over the magazine or newspaper and hangs out in those sleazy waterfront bars, yes.

Do you even hear yourselves? There are 190-something comment on here…34 of which are mine. Shay? You have 30. Almost the ENTIRE post was a bash fest against, LOL, me…for stating I was unhappy with the intetview…and you’re all here trying to decipher why your posts don’t get through…your frustration…how ONE person single-handedly ruined your MF experience. You then go on to your “theories”. I think she needs help, personality disorder…GASP!…maybe she is really Michael Fairman! maybe she is paid by another rival company.

Wow!

I’ve been the one receiving this avalanche of attacks and have been “fending off” (smart thing would have been to ignore you but it was too fascinating to see how far you would take it and keep it going) and interesting to how the support you got encouraged you to pile on more shite. I have cited “proof” of things I was saying but several ones that would completely prove my point didn’t make the cut…with dates and all. I’ve pointed out the hypocrisy of certain posters accusations…those didn’t make the cut either,. GASP again!!!! Therefore…I must not be Michael Fairman, or rather, he is not me! Because if I were, or he were…then ALL my “proof” would be in your face. (The fact that the thought regarding Michael Fairman/me was even tossed around is hilarious.)

What about a word count?

To Barb, Maureen, Gary, Frank, Kevin, Beth and anyone else who so graciously took the time to share their thoughts here: First of all, thank you for your very kind and generous remarks…they were most appreciated! Reading your replies really touched me…but by the same token, I found your highly-personal accounts truly heartbreaking. To think that the simple act of posting in good faith at a website such as this—which should be a fun and uplifting exercise in free expression—could produce such dispiriting emotions on any level is deeply disturbing and never should have happened in the first place….period!!!! Speaking for myself, whatever has transpired at MFSoaps has always stayed here at MFSoaps….I’ve never allowed it to seep into my extremely busy “real life” so as to upset me to the extent that it apparently has for far too many of you. Quite frankly, the only less than otherwise wonderful feeling I’ve ever experienced as a result of visiting this website during these last few years I’ve participated has been one of utter, complete disgust over the nasty antics that have become much too pervasive, so it was that escalating cruelty perpetrated not just upon my own being, but others for whom I have developed genuine affection, that left me with no recourse but to state my vociferous objections whenever necessary. That’s always been the perspective from which I was coming. Having known enough flesh-and-blood bullies to realize they are best ignored since they are basically just losers looking to provoke a response, it definitely gave me pause to even consider taking on this self-professed online nemesis, but given that this vicious cyber stuff has the potential to invade your personal space and follow you wherever you go 24/7 via all those smart devices we can’t seem to do without, and despite my own misgivings, I just refused to tolerate what I deemed to be an unacceptable situation. I certainly don’t regret the decision to resolutely take on this particular individual and their ongoing campaign of harassment, especially since it seemed to spread exponentially to more and more posters—actually a greater number than I had even realized until reading your own unfortunate stories of uncalled-for treatment, but I do feel bad that it ever got to the point of being something that had to be done. If this activity would have simply ceased on its own accord or been stopped by those in charge long ago, it would have been a much better scenario for all concerned. But as they say, hindsight is 20/20….with a bit of luck, perhaps this latest airing of objections will produce a better outcome than previous attempts. At any rate, as I have said before, I hope that all of you will take another stab at being a part of this soap opera-based community because as far as I’m concerned, despite the unpleasantries we have each faced at some point or other, the positive aspects far outweigh the negative ones!!! Once again, thanks to each and every one of you for your complimentary comments…they meant so much! Wishing you all a great weekend!

You left out the Academy. (You WERE accepting the award for the best drama queen on this site, yes?)

Nancy Lee Grahn’s Star-Studded ALS Fundraiser Reveals “I’ll Be There” Video Featuring Soap Opera Notables

Talk about your impressive line-up! It’s a soap fans dream and for a great cause. General Hospital’s Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) is prepping her one-night only ALS fundraiser which will feature many of her friends and co-stars.

The benefit is set for May 4th in Glendale, California. Slated to participate are Genie Francis, Jane Elliot, Peter Bergman, Maurice Benard, Eileen Davidson, Thorsten Kaye, Michelle Stafford, Stephen Nichols, Rena Sofer, Jason Thompson, Kelly Monaco, Melissa Claire Egan, Maura West, Kristina Wagner, Gregory Harrison, Trevor St. John, Kate Mansi, Kirsten Storms, Cynthia Watros, and many others.

On Wednesday, Grahn took to her social media and released an “I’ll be there” video shout-out featuring, Monaco, Elliot, Bergman, Bernard, West, Harrison, St. John and more. In a touching and important moment in the new video, Michelle Strogny, who is battling ALS, is featured.

Photo: ABC

Previously, in speaking with Soap Opera Digest on the impetus of the event, Grahn recalled, “I was actually doing Zoom events during Covid and I met this woman that I just fell in love with, Michelle Strojny. At the time, Michelle had been living with ALS for four years. Now, it’s five years. She is a mom of a teenage son, she has the most wonderful husband, and she has been dealing with this [disease] for quite a while. And obviously, there isn’t a cure yet. It’s not survivable yet. But as she says, it’s not incurable. Nothing is; it’s underfunded. But anyway, I just really dug this woman. She is so grounded and filled with grace, and she spends all of her time working to raise money for the cause. We did a fundraiser for her last year and then I thought, ‘You know what? The soaps don’t ever get together to do something for charity.’ Collectively, we have this amazing community and we don’t collectively use it for a good cause, and I think it’s such an easy thing for us to do and we could potentially really make a difference.”

As GH viewers know, Gregory Harrison is playing the character of Gregory Chase, who is also battling ALS in a touching storyline that is currently playing out shedding a light on this disease.

For information on Nancy’s event, including the stars who are s scheduled to participate click here. To purchase tickets to the event click here.

Check out the video featuring Nancy’s friends and co-stars below.  Now let us know, your thought son the line-up for the benefit and helping raise awareness and funds for ALS research via the comment section.

‘General Hospital’ Writer Shannon Peace Let Go, and Shares on Sprina: “One of My Only Regrets is to Not Have the Opportunity to Develop That ‘Ship’ Further”

As General Hospital’s new head writing team of Elizabeth Korte and Patrick Mulcahy gets off the ground and running, there are still changes a foot on the writing team.

Now comes word via breakdown writer Shannon Peace that she is no longer on contract with the long-running ABC soap heading into its 61st season. Peace shared a heartfelt message on her Instagram, thanking the fans, and the show for the opportunity and the importance of diversity in the writers room.

Peace began, “After almost 3 years on staff and 106 episodes penned, I am no longer on contract with General Hospital. Writing for this country’s longest running television serial drama has been an education of epic proportions; I will forever be grateful that I earned my WGA card on a daytime fixture that holds memories for so many.” (Peace pictured below with GH EP Frank Valentini and script writer, Charlotte Gibson from about ten months ago).

Shannon added “Even more importantly, as the sole Black breakdown writer (and only POC in the writers room) during my tenure, I pushed for vital interactions and discussions that prioritized inclusion, visibility, and representation”

The writer pointed to the example of vital interaction when in story, “Stella and Portia’s frank July 2022 conversation about the role race played in Esme’s framing of Trina is just one example of the impact I’m gratified to have had.”

Acknowledging former GH co-head writers was also part of Peace’s farewell expressing, “Appreciation to my former bosses, Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor – not only taking a chance on me, but for valuing my opinion and championing my voice.”

Many GH fans know that Peace was key to the development of the love story between Trina Robinson and Spencer Cassadine as played by Tabyana Ali and Nicholas Chavez. Shannon gave a special shout-out to ‘Sprina’ fans, “I also want to thank fans who were supportive of my work, especially the recognition of my love for ‘Sprina’. One of my only regrets is not having to develop that ‘ship’ further.”

She concludes her statement with,”In the aftermath of a historic writer’s strike that shed new light on the troubling ways writers are regarded in daytime, my sincere hope is that General Hospital recommits to valuing staff writer efforts and input, with a more intentional focus on diverse viewpoints — and thrives for another 60 years.”

Accompanying her post, Shannon added, “Thank you all for the love and support these last few years. I hope GH fans get all they hope for and more!”

So, what do you think about GH not renewing Shannon’s contract? Will there be more continued changes afoot? What do you think is the future of ‘Sprina’ anyway at this point as viewers wait to see if Nicholas Chavez officially returns to the show?  Comment below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Learns Britt Died and Tells Anna He Has Been Working For Cates Since November 2021

On the Tuesday, March 26th of General Hospital, Anna (Finola Hughes) and the viewers learn about where Jason (Steve Burton) has been for over two and half years. However, Jason gets some news of his own.

Anna is visiting Jason at the PCPD interrogation room. She asks him if he shot Dante (Dominic Zamprogna), which he flatly denies. Anna believes him, but she tells Jason it doesn’t matter, because video footage shows him on the roof at the time of the shooting

When talk turns to Jason not willing to speak without his lawyer present, Anna can’t grasp why Jason would instead spend an hour alone talking with John Cates (Adam J. Harrington).

Photo: ABC

It is then that Anna brings up that John went by “Jagger” and that the two of them knew each other in high school. Jason doesn’t recall much of his time in high school following his brain injury, but then he gets furious realizing John knew about “Jason’s” past. That is when Jason slams the table and tells Anna, “I’ve been working for John Cates since November 2021.”

Next, Jason explains further that he has been working as an informant for the FBI. Anna wants to know how this came about and he tells her that after the tunnel collapsed, and he couldn’t make it to Britt (Kelly Thiebaud)… all of a sudden he sees Anna’s face drop.  Anna is the first person to tell him that Britt died and was murdered. She tells Jason the killer is in custody, but he continues to be shocked, overwhelmed with tears welling up in his eyes. Realizing he has to pivot to save his life, Jason continues telling Anna how he wound up working with John.

Jason explains that after the tunnel collapse in Greece, FBI agents grabbed him and placed him under arrest and took him to Quantico where he met John. At Quantico, John played a recording of RICO violations and offered Jason a deal if he agreed to be an informant against Pikeman, the illegal arms dealer.

Anna hears from Jason that he thinks Pikeman is selling illegal arms to anyone flagged by the NSA but has ties to the WSB which they needed a civilian to infiltrate their organization as a military soldier, a mercenary.

Jason tells Anna he was a part of the team brought into eliminate Sonny (Maurice Benard). Every time an attempt was made on Sonny’s life over the last two years, a different team was sent to do the job. Anna gets furious when she learns that John told Jason his job was to kill Sonny and she was with John at the warehouse that night. Jason ensured the sniper missed Sonny and left the rifle behind. However, they were supposed to meet an extraction team. Before he was shot, Dante saw it was Jason on the roof and when he turned around with his hands over his head, Dante was shot by the other guy. Jason says if Dante dies, he’ll be charged with capital murder and then will be useless to the FBI.

Photo: ABC

Meanwhile, John visits Bobbie’s and runs into Carly (Laura Wright). She learns Jason is in custody and is going to head to the PCPD. Before she does, Carly has some words with Cates when she learns not only does John have a vendetta against Sonny, but Jason too.  Carly tells John he should recuse himself from the case.

So, what did you think about the moment when Jason learned Britt died? What do you think of Jason’s return storyline thus far and what we learned about Jagger/Jason and more? Comment below. But first, check out a moment from today’s GH with Jason and Anna.
