GH's Latest Promo Offers Up First Glimpse Of Bree Williamson In Her New Role!

The first glimpse of Bree Williamson in her new daytime role on General Hospital is located inside the latest promo from ABC

Williamson who made her mark with soap fans when she played Jessica Buchanan and her alters on One Life to Live, is playing Nathan’s (Ryan Paevey) ex-wife, Claudette West.

This summer look for Claudette to be heavy in story with the two men from her past, Nathan and Dr. Griffin Munro (Matt Cohen).

In On-Air On-Soaps latest interview with GH’s head writers Shelly Altman and Jean Passanante they revealed that Bree was their first choice for the role.  Altman related why: “Bree has a very intelligent, and sexy quality to her, and that is what we saw in this character.” Look for Bree’s first episode to air next week on July 5th.

Watch GH’s fourth of July promo after the jump featuring Bree’s debut and let us know if you are excited to see how her story plays out in the comment section below!

I wonder if she’ll have a French-Canadian accent?

Well a Canadian accent will be easy since that’s where Bree’s from, so I imagine so! I think she was trying to lose it on OLTL, as there was one time where she pronounced a Canadian ‘o’ and an American ‘o’ in the same sentence lol

Lol, too funny, Walter. It’s not the letter ‘o’ on itself….it’s the combination of ‘o’ and ‘u’ together….such as house, out, about etc.

If she does, Tim? It will be a fake one. The only citizens of Canada that have a French accent are the people of French descent who live in certain parts of the province of Quebec. The rest of the country speaks English. It is a fallacy to think otherwise.
I visit family in Toronto on a regular basis, the only relatives that speak French are those who studied it in school. It is an ELECTIVE course; not mandatory. I also studied at U of T for a couple of semesters…..none had an accent and few spoke French.
But, if “Claudette” has lived in NYC for so long, she may have lost her accent, if she ever had one. LOL.
I am just happy to see Bree, regardless of her accent. LOL.

I work with someone from England. Has been living in the US for roughly 16 years… She is still British speaking.

@Christy.
Hi, Christy,
There’s a vast difference between an English accent and a Canadian accent. We, as Americans are very familiar with Canadian actors, comedians, singers…entertainers, in general. With the exception of Celine Dion, who is a true French Canadian, I could never really tell the difference.
I did not even know Jason Thompson was Canadian. Same goes for Jim Carrey, Drake, Ryan Gosling, and so many more.
Many of my husband’s relatives have been here over 40 years….they still speak with an Italian accent. As do my Grandparents who speak with a thick Scottish brogue.

She confirmed in SOD that she would be using her natural Canadian accent, and would not be using an American one.

Hey, Scott,
You know that each country in the world has slang, dialect and an accent that may vary from state to state, town to town.
As far as I am concerned there’s no true American accent. New Yorkers have different accents, depending on the borough in which one lives. New Englanders have accents that are so different from Connecticut to Maine. Just to name a few. As a matter of fact, there are some parts in Maine that people speak with a French Canadian accent. (Frenchville).
So, the same goes for Canada. As I said, Torontonians do not have an accent, per se, just a couple of words, here and there. LOL. Now, I’m contradicting myself, ehhy? I remember in Poly-Sci class, the professor would always end his sentences with ehhy?
I never noticed Bree’s Canadian accent in all the years she was on OLTL. I had no idea.

Sorry, Scott.
Autocorrect isn’t so correct. Keeps ‘adjusting’ what I write. Should read: Poli-Sci.

Watching; my heart didn’t stop and my jaw didn’t drop.
(they lied lol)

TeeHee, me neither su0000. Just not feeling it.

You slay me, su. Didn’t do it for me either. Tepid, at most.

Bree Williamson is recurring, not on contract yet. I am looking forward to see Bree on GH next week. Welcome back to Daytime Bree.

Me too! Wonder if she and Franco will pass by each other at the hospital, and give each other funny looks. 😀

That’s funny, Christy….like, “…hey, haven’t I seen you somewhere before?”.

I’m so HAPPY to see Bree–always loved her incredible acting on OLTL! She is a formidable actress, so I hope the writers give her great material.

Bree looks great! Nice to see her back on a soap.

How cool is this! Looking forward…

I will wait and see…she will bring baby Nate?…she will be crazy and try to kill Maxie?…soap ex’s are like stalkers…they all end up in town and want their ex back doing whatever they can do get him or her back instead of moving on-sigh!!!

Sure she will be bringing (or hiding) a baby and there will be a “whose the daddy” storyline and as usual, there will be tampering at the hospital lab with the results.

You’re on a roll, Jimmy. Claudette will stalk both Griffin and Nathan…..with hook, line and sinker; the priest by his collar; the cop by his holster.

it will be so good to see Bree Williamson on the screen again. hope she is in for a long stay at General Hospital. hope all the viewers give her a fair chance !

Hope the WRITERS give her a fair chance.

Our lovely Bree Williamson has returned to our small screens!

She is that!!!!! And more, Softjohn. Love her.

Welcome back to town, pretty lady. You’ve been greatly missed.

I liked Ms. Williamson on OLTL and am happy to see her on GH. Please allow us a compelling story line and make it longer term. That said, Port Charles is a very crowded place these days. I am not sure everyone is needed. And that is difficult to say as there is a lot of talent in the studio.

AWESOME!!!!

She is hot! I hope her character is good. Good luck with Ryan, the anti-Di Nero!

I hope they don’t just bring her in as a one note bad girl and waste the talents of yet another high profile soap star. A good cop and a good doctor (priest?) both loved this woman, so if she was just another garden variety bad girl, it would be lazy storytelling and a huge letdown, and would further undermine and weaken Nathan and Griffin’s status as leading men. They just CANNOT introduce her in any fashion similar to how they botched Michelle Stafford’s entry. They, the powers that be, were so excited and eager to get their new prize, Stafford, onto the screen and into major story, they thrust her into nearly every story. It was also very insulting and insensitive to feature a coma patient of 20 years being introduced that way. I have a friend who was in a car accident a year and a half ago, she was in a coma for 2 months…and to this day, a year and a half later, she remains a virtual vegetable in an upright wheelchair and can only blink her eyes and squeeze her hands in response. There has to be something instantly emotionally relatable whith all these new characters or they are just doomed to fail. Bree’s talent won’t have a thing to do with her ultimate success or failure on this show…we all know she is a dynamite actress. If solid, integrated writing is not there, it won’t work. look at all the shows that have squandered Sarah Brown’s talent!!!! Four at last count.

Love Bree and her work so I’m looking fwd to something new on this show.

Bree is amazing — she should’ve been a Lulu recast. Sadly, with the current head writers I don’t look for her character to have any longevity.

Bree Williamson was one of the actresses I thought of to take on the role of L after I’d gotten over the initial shock of Julie Berman taking leave of GH.

I really look forward to Bree’s debut. I was never a big fan of her Jessica on OLTL but just the other day watched her scenes where Nash died and she was amazing. She had me in tears, as embarrassing as it is to say. Hope her GH character is interesting.

Great, another new character to suck up airtime. Meanwhile, a story that started oh, 2 months ago Laura & Dr. Collins hasn’t even gotten off the ground. OH yes, I should be sooo excited, right? NOT.

I’m with ya. But, I predicted that Laura’s story would go nowhere. I know this crappy show too well.

I wish she were playing Jessica. This character does not sound like one that will be able to stay.
