Is Patch and Kayla's Son About To Be SORAS'd? DAYS Casting Teenaged Joey!

Days of our Lives is on the hunt for a young hottie to play the role of “Joey”!  The casting call is for a 16-year-old boy who struggles with resentment and abandonment issues.

“Joey” reads like he could very well be the troubled teen of Steve (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans)! The role is said to be contract, according to Soap Opera Digest.

Back in 2008, Kayla gave birth to her and Steve’s son, who arrived three months prematurely. The baby boy has been named Joseph, to be known as ‘Joe’ Johnson.  Now, if DAYS could also bring “Patch” back to Salem somehow before the show turns 50, that would be treat for longtime fans of the series.

In addition, the series is casting the role of teenaged “Elijah” that sounds like it could be a SORAS’d Theo Carver!  DAYS is also looking for a “16-year-old, gorgeous African-American male'” who is a high functioning autistic.

So, who would you suggest to play the part of Joey and Elijah? Do you want Stephen Nichols to make a return, too? Share your thoughts below!

Of course we want Patch back but im sick of aging kids…British soaps do not rapidly age children…they grow up normally…stories are written for all ages and involve children as reallike children…im all for a Kayla story but they dont have to age Joey to do it…jmo

I totally agree. And, how does that work? …All of a sudden Joey is older than Sierra, Chase and Theo??? how does that work?
Isn’t Joey a kid…Parker’s age?

And wasnt Sami a teen when EJ was born? This and bringing people back from the dead and more than once is why our daytime dramas is considered laughable by many…British soaps let you watch their children grow up just like Eden said below your reply…also their dead stay dead…you feel the grief and sense of loss…in ours its ‘who cares’…sooner or later many turn up alive even characters shot dead right before our eyes!!!

Agreed, jimh! I love the fact that our soaps do not age children over night. It is wonderful to watch them grow and learn in ‘real time’. Some times the children’s story lines are even more interesting than the ‘adult’ ones in Corrie, Emmerdale and EastEnders. Just look at Chesney on Corrie…having watched him grow up on screen has been a right treat. Much better than having him go from 8 to 28 in a couple of years! Sarah Lou Platt is returning to t’cobbles this year with her daughter, Bethany who is 15, NOT 30. So much more believable and interesting. Many times the ageing just seems to be ridiculous, especially when some one is cast who looks the same age on screen and is supposed to be an auntie or some other such relation to another character in the story!
Hope you are keeping well and enjoying Corrie! The recent return of Jenny Bradley to the street is another example of what wonderful stories can come about by NOT ageing characters and honouring a programme’s history!
Cheers jimh! X

Yes, i wouldnt miss Corrie for anything…love how they bring back a blast from the past like Jim Mcdonald and Jenny and Sarah and Bethany(i wonder if Steves brother Andy will return plus id love to see Curly again too) plus i cant wait to see Roy getting a new love interest-miss Hayley and Tina…also, besides Chesney, ive watched David grow up from bratty kid to bratty adult…lol…so natural and believable…loosing Anne/Deidre was a shock-bet Ken and Audrey will become a couple….wish Corrie would do a period spinoff set in the early 1900s and focus on a young Ena Sharples and her life in Weatherfield during WW1…Cheers Eden! X

Jimmy D.-ex Rafe from GH….I know he is like 21 years old but he could still pass as 16?

hey y’all, I’m a long-time soap viewer, yet, what does SORAS, specifically stand for?

soap opera rapid age syndrom-or stupid opera rapid age syndrom…lol

Thanks, jimh, I thought it was something like that!

Not that bad
JJ was born in 2004 and is now 19
So Joey must be about 15 right?

Would love Steve back!!!

yeah, having Steve “Patch” return… would be amazing!

It’s early but so far I like the direction this regime is taking. A young hunky Australian doctor and a sorased Joey – both good calls.

… a 16-year-old boy who struggles with resentment and abandonment issues.

Sounds a lot like his cousin JJ when he returned to Salem a couple of years ago…..

I think DAYS needs to start bringing on characters like Joey and Patch, who already have established ties to Salem, instead of all the newbies. In the past few months, there has been a slew of new characters with no real ties to Salem. I was hoping that when Melissa Archer was brought on, it would be as Sarah Horton, Maggie’s daughter, not another newbie. Hopefully they find a good actor for this role! And here’s to hoping Patch returns, even if it’s just for short term! Is Stephen Nichols busy these days? He isn’t on Y&R or GH so maybe he’s available!

I too wanted M.A. as Sarah…her and Brady wouldve made a far better couple than Brady and Sappy Melanie…

The Melanie & Brady pairing is beyond boring. Brady was, and can still be, so interesting), but this “thing” between these two characters is completely banal, and painful to watch. Melanie needs to go back to Europe. Or better yet, kill her off.

I agree. Am relatively new to DAYS, after all the cancellations, and I love it, but it would be nice to see the show solidify its family trees. As anniversary nears, it may be a good time to remind everyone how these families connect. DAYS is very good.

@ Iakovos – I definitely agree with you regarding the show solidifying its family trees. Who would you like to see return for the anniversary? Any favorites of yours?

New to Days but I love Stephen Nichols. That would terrific to bring him back.

I would love to see Patch come back!

Is Andrew Trishitta too old for the role?

He’s 20. But, it would be great to see him working again in some other role.

Andrew (from OLTL) does look too old for the role, however, gosh, by the looks of him, he sure has some Patch and Kayla in him.

They’re known for casting 20 year olds to play 16 years olds, because in 1 year the 16 yr old will be a 19 year old college student, lol… so maybe Andrew would work.

I’d rather they bring back Julie and Doug or give a viable story to John and Marlena than concentrate on the younger set.

This is great news! Joey will be the reason Steve comes back!!!

If you Soras Theo then you’ll probably need to do the same with Ciara and Chase.

They definitely need to bring Steve back. If they did, I would actually start watching on a regular basis instead of catching an occasional clip on Youtube.

YES

Mary Beth Evans to be featured MORE on MY screen and yours

NOW…. they need to soras a daughter for Adrienne !!!!

let’s see two beloved moms… on screen

if you have to compare…. Kayla and Adrienne
move over Jennifer and Eve !!!!

I still LOVE my Eve

How many children does Adrienne & Justin have?

in the Wednesday episode, Sonny mentioned going to see his brother in Phoenix.

The oldest son is Alexander. Justin fathered him with Anjelica.
Next are the twins: Victor and Joey were adopted by Justin and Adrienne.
Jackson (Sonny) is the only child who Justin and Adrienne biologically share.

Ok, thanks! So, wait there are two Joey’s, Justin & Adrienne’s and Kayla & Steve’s?

And, is Alex the brother who Sonny is going to Phoenix to visit?

Yes, two first cousins are named Joey and Sonny is visiting his half brother, Alex.

Eric Nelsen, Andrew Trischitta or Jimmy Deshler as Joey

I was thinking Jimmy Deshler. I thought he did well as Rafe. Didn’t really see why they had to write him out when they did. Molly and TJ are hardly even own anymore… the 7-10 year old group gets so much more story time on GH. Eric Nelson looks like he should be Kayla’s son but might be getting a little old for 16. Then again as I said in an earlier post, they love casting 20 somethings to play teens.

I would love for Steven Nichols to return, but Days- my fave soap- just doesn’t do very well with returning veteran performers. Patch’s previous return to the canvas was a bust.
