When Stephen Nichols returns to the fold as Steven “Patch” Johnson for the upcoming 50th anniversary of Days of our Lives, the show will also be bringing in the character of Patch and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) now teen-aged son, Joey!

Actor James Lastovic has been in the role which is said to be a 2-year contract role!  The young actor was born in San Diego, California.  He made his acting debut in a film called “A Talking Pony!?! in 2013.

When the casting call went out for the role of Joey on DAYS it said, “16-year-old gorgeous Caucasian male who struggles with resentment and abandonment issues.”  Lastovic will debut on DAYS in late summer.

So intrigued to find out the story of Joey?  Comment below!

Im just happy that they are bringing someone in tied to the Bradys and hopefully this means more airtime for the wonderful but underused Mary Beth Evans…his description however sounds like JJ when he returned to Salem…hope its not a recycled storyline!!!

Mary Beth Evans is filming as a contract player and so glad for her.

Not interested in watching that outdated “vision” of Days that obviously includes throwing the most epic storyline (WilSon/PaulSon) under the bus.Higley almost killed Days last time around, and from what I’m hearing, she hasn’t learned a thing. She and Griffith are totally ignoring the kind of mix of characters and storylines that gave Days the best ratings in many years (2013 till beginning of 2014). My watching Days ends the day they sideline Sonny, Paul and Will!!!

And forget about it, Higfith will never introduce a new gay character, they’re destroying the gay storline that was the most successful storyline on the show and got them 4 Emmys in 3 years and ratings highs whenever these characters were front and center (even this year, with overall bad ratings, the best ratings days and weeks happened with Sonny and Paul being front and center). But these people don’t care about what viewers and fans want, otherwise they wouldn’t spend all the money on vets that never brought ratings up in the last couple of years.

Looking forward to this! 😉

For some reason, he reminds me of Tony Dow from Leave It To Beaver in this snap. X

Yes, Yes. He looks so familiar, I couldn’t put my finger on it. He also has the look of Corey Haim.

Hope he is a good actor or we will have to call him Corey Ham…lol

Wow. I was thinking he looked like a young River Phoenix–not seeing Corey Haim or Tony Dow at all.
I also see a dash of a young Leonardo Decaprio.

You’re right. He does look like Tony Dow back in the day. I wonder how many people who read this will have any idea what we’re talking about?

I have no idea…lol

I never watched that show…im too young….kidding…lol…he does resemble him!!!

You are a riot, Jimh.

I saw a young dancer on Dancing Wiith the Stars. This Joey looks like this kid. Does anyone know if this is him?

Interesting, since there are no teenagers in Salem, so it means the kids on the show will be teenagers by the summer..Good move..This shows needs diversity..Theo and Hope’s bratty daughter will be aged up.

“oh, shucks”

“oh, no”

LOL

love your description of Hope’s bratty daughter

she’s a keeper and a genuine in front of the camera

I wish they’d recast Aidens son… he doesn’t seem comfortable

I love Ciara and hope they don’t age her as Lauren is fantastic. And so cute!

I don’t think it’s possible for me to be more excited about the reunion of the Johnson family, Joey, Kayla and Patch, by late summer. I only wish it would start to air sooner than that.

It’s also great that Patch’s sister Adrienne has a storyline involving Lucas and Justin who is back full time! I’m hoping Patch and Adrienne’s brother Jack comes back!!! Exciting DAYS ahead!!!!!

I know, right?

how to contain all this excitement, till

WE “are” talking : good excellent actors with so much presence

Kayla, Patch, Rory, Justin, Adrienne, Lucas, Sonny

I can’t stand this

*Rory = Joey

Why do soaps write all teens as surly, hostile, nasty mini adults?? I was a teenager and the most important things on our minds were not our parents love lives or troubles. We were concerned about dances and exams and friends and girlfriends and parties. Just as no parent should be THAT wrapped up in their child’s love life…Eve are you listening??…no kids are that wrapped up in their parents’ drama. I hope this Joey is not just a rerun of JJ. Rory is a god example of how real teens act. That kid has a natural charm and charisma and soaps should be capitalizing on popular characters the audience wants more of…not forcing their favourites and pets. It would be cool if T and Rory were brothers or cousins. Give them both more airtime.

I agree, T is a fantastic character, and the actor is so great too, same with Rory, great character & actor. Wish they both had more air-time.

The word out is that Joey is a troubled teen, similar to how JJ was a troubled teen when JJ first returned to Salem from boarding school. I was surprised to hear that the writers went that route with the Joey story so soon after JJ. That seems like overkill on the troubled teen scenario. That sounds like what they did with all those unnecessary cat fights.

Not looking forward to the troubled teen Joey story….Been there done that. I hope they can change course quickly on that and come up with something else for Joey. That said, I am glad that Joey is being brought to the show because it is a natural growth process for the show. Characters we enjoy who are central to the show have produced offspring who should be incorporated into storylines at some point. Just think the troubled teen scenario is too soon after JJ’s troubled teen story.

Not another JJ.

Heaven forbid…..I do not like JJ….well, not to the point of cray-cray Eve. That woman should be de-sexized. Is there such a word?

I hope DAYS can write good story, as Days has not had a good teen scene since the Shawn/Belle/Philip/Chloe story arc. Those were the DAYS!!! The character of Paige is god-awful, and JJ is so-so.

I’m glad they’re bringing on the next generation of legacy characters. But gee-wiz! must all the teens have a chip on their shoulder when they premiere? That’s not the only kind of teen there is.

Me and my friends have been watching DAYS for WilSon and PaulSon since 2011, and we’re not interested in the crap these “new” head writers are obviously coming up with. They have been ignoring this fanbase since they were hired, not a single mention of Sonny, Paul, Will and this multi-Emmy winning storyline so far! And very obviously, neither has there been a recast for Sonny nor has Christopher (Paul) been seen on set in many weeks, so they’re literally excluding this storyline and fanbase that was a HUGE part of Days’s success (see multi-year ratings highs 2013 till early 2014) from their “big” 50th anniversary that they’re hyping everywhere.

The execs and writers are talking about everybody and everything except our boys that got them more buzz in the key demos on Social Media and all over the web than any other character(s) or storyline. They’re turning Days into a “back to the 80s” travesty, and no one I know is interested in watching that. I’m also almost 100% sure that they changed Freddie’s last month when they came in, to virtually kill this whole storyline, since Freddie already told us there will be a (quote) “bizarre” outcome.

I’m done with this show as soon as they sideline the most successful storyline, PaulSon and WilSon!! The vets won’t bring ratings up for long, there will be an increase for the anniversary (as it always happens, no matter how good or bad the writing regime is), but it’ll die down fast, and then ratings will drop lower than ever before, since Higfith are pissing off almost all the fanbases that were part of the winning mix we saw in the best recent year in the ratings (2013).

Great addition to cast. Enjoyed his recent appearance. Can’t wait for more!

I heard Joey will be having a gay relationship with Ben when Abigail leaves him.

Definitely gorgeous…his eyes are dreamy, and in fact ,he looks like he could be Nichols and Evans offspring! I wish him all the best in his new role! : )

it looks like “Joey” wears hearing aids. (I am a HIS) just wondering if that was true only because of his speach. He is a cutie.
