James Read Confirms Return To DAYS: "Clyde Rides Again In Early September"

Actor James Read can play “bad dude” pretty darn well!  When viewers of NBC’s Days of our Lives last saw Clyde Weston he was extradited from Salem to Florida for his crimes, and said an emotional farewell to his son … necktie serial killer Ben (Rob Scott Wilson).  In addition, the elder Weston did not divulge to anyone that Ben was a serial killer when he was taken out of town!

Monday on twitter, Read thanked his followers and fans for all his  birthday wishes from July 31st, and then confirmed he was indeed back on DAYS next month on air.  There has been speculation and online rumors that Clyde could be involved in baby Tate’s kidnapping.

James tweeted:  “Thanks so much for all the birthday wishes-So appreciate it! Be on the lookout – Clyde rides again in early Sept”

So, what do you think about Clyde Weston being back on the DAYS canvas? Excited to see Read again? Comment below!

That’s a pleasant shock. I love James Read. I thought Clyde was history. Can’t wait to see what dastardly deeds he’s up to this time around.

Why? Clyde was one of the most poorly developed characters DAYS has created in recent years. James Read gave the role his all, and is a great actor, but Clyde is in prison and should stay gone. Hopefully this is only a short cameo appearance.

I loved (to hate) Clyde the last couple months of his run, Jimmy. I hated to see him go and am looking forward to his return!

I more than disagree. I would love to see Clyde go up against wacko Andre. And then there is the revenge Clyde will play out on Jennifer, JJ and Abby. It will be perfect.

So glad he’s back—he knows how to play a great sleazeball. Wonder who he’ll go toe-to-toe with this time? I’m staying tuned.

More revolving door nonsense. Characters come, characters go, characters return. The only thing missing is a compelling, well planned story.

You are so right. This show is like the Titanic with no captain. They bring on people and let go people every few months with no explanation and no long term stories. Abe’s new daughter vanishes with no mention. Not that her character was special.

Wonderful news! Still wish GH had scooped him up–LOL!
But can the writers top his previous storyline or will this return be anticlimactic? Hope not!

As much as I admire Read’s professionalism and talent, the PTB re grasping at straws. This seems like a futile act of desperation to me.
Complicating Tate’s disappearance will be a tedious, boring uphill fail……Am I the only one not feeling it? Now, Read and Summer will be tied in this despicable evil act which is supposedly done to hold our interest. Sadly, not mine.

He’s certainly a very capable actor, however I’m not quite sure what the impact of his return would be, the show surely needs all the assistance it can obtain – right now it’s really slow.

So let me get this straight they are bringing this guy back but they won’t bring back one of the most loved characters in the which is Will you know the one they killed off for this. Gotta say dool you suck and no wonder your ratings are so low you deserve it hope you get cancelled and soon

It would serve you right, Amber, if they in fact were planning to bring Will back, but mouths like yours caused the show to be canceled just as Will returns!

HTF do you know who they will or will not bring back?!

Oh, no, Amber. We are all too quick to complain about this and that. I am first to admit the show needs massive help….a miracle, if you will.
But, never, ever do I want DOOL gone. EVER!!

I really don’t think he has anything to do with Tate’s kidnapping. If Abby’s child was kidnapped, I could see that. He really had no story with Teresa or Brady so that would make no sense. Maybe I’m right, maybe not. We’ll find out next month! 😉

FANTASTIC NEWS!!!!! Y-A-Y!!!!!

What’s the point? “Clyde” was a terribly conceived character and is completely irrelevant now that both his children are gone.
There is NO reason for him to come back.
And how did he get out of jail already?
Stunts do not make a show better!

Really like the actor, but have only watched Days for a few minutes periodically over several months. Lost interest in many of the story lines. It does not seem like Days any more – the storylines are all over the place, no cohesion, revolving door of actors does not give you a chance to invest in the character, it is dark and mean spirited. Who needs that when you are looking for some light and possibly romantic escape? Everyone is devious, back stabbing, etc. I would like Days to stay on for nostalgia sake and I like many of the Vets, but if it stays like this, it may be coming to the end of Days. I like small town Salem with family stories and relationships.

I was glad to see Clyde to.

See Clyde go.
