Shawn-D comes back in his original form with the return of Jason Cook to Days of our Lives!

According to Soap Opera Digest: Cook, who was so popular in the role of Hope (Kristian Alfonso) and Bo’s (Peter Reckell) son Shawn-Douglas Brady, is already taping scenes at the NBC soap opera for events surrounding the series upcoming 50th anniversary in November.

Jason Cook played the eldest child of Bo and Hope from 1999-2006 before leaving the series to work on other projects and other aspects of his career.  His successor was Brandon Beemer.

While storyline is also tight-lipped at DAYS on just how Shawn-Douglas returns to the Salem fold, we can suspect it will also have to do with the re-emergence of his on-screen father Bo, who is also back taping episodes of the long-running daytime drama series.

Are you happy to hear the news that Jason Cook is returning to DAYS for the series 50th anniversary? Let us know!

Good news when any vet returds if brief or long term. and no im not fully well as of this writing. i seemed earlier. later

Jimh,

I commented 18 minutes after you, but your post was not seen until after I commented.

I’m pointing that out, so as not to look uncaring. A thousand returns aren’t as important as your health…GET WELL SOON!!!!!

Thanks……i wasnt going to post until im completely well but i find coming here and commenting does take my mind off things and helps me feel somewhat better!

Jim hope you are feeling better. Agree the returns are great. Hope it doesn’t mean the end of the show. Shawn D loved him, and loved him as Matt on GH. I have to agree on one thing. when you are ill, taking your mind off of it seems to help you for a moment.Get well soon.

Absolutely fantastic news!

It may not be long term, but it’ll be nice nonetheless. We should also have Martha Madison back as Belle! Their daughter, Claire, is coming back too!

JKJ as a returning Philip Kiriakis would be gold!!!

DAYS is delivering!!!!!

Yes! The return of Jason Cook as Shawn-D is awesome news, he’s obviously the original teen Shawn-D from back in the day, and it’s so great he’ll be back for the Bo return and the 50th. Now, I too, would like to hope that Martha Madison returns, too. Of course, I would prefer Kristen Storms, but it’s probably very doubtful she will be released from ABC to pop over to NBC. It would be nice though. But, Martha would be fine, too to return as Belle. Thanks to Days, for making the Jason Cook return happen, and thanks to Jason, too. I miss him on GH.

Why not Kristen Storms Wally Kurth did double duty? ??

I hope the return of these Brady men give some movement to the Bo-Hope saga which seems to have stalled at Reckell’s exit. I have read a lot about Salem to catch up. This news seems very exciting for DAYS fans.

Any truth to the rumor that they are returning for caroline’s funeral?

Poor Shawn Douglas is now a father of a teenage daughter. My how the time has flown by.

I hope that the return is recurring, if not regular. And that Martha returns as Belle; I missed both of them. v was OK as Shawn-Douglas, but Jason Cook had better chemistry in the role.

DrOOL : wouldn’t he make a GREAT Sonny ?

seeing him as Shawn D….. is a blast

yayyyyyyyy!!!!!!
absolute fav heartthrob !!!! loved him as shawn d and his relationship with belle and mimi!
praying to soap gods he sticks around! he s sooo adorable , and even more in real life as i had the privilege of meeting him in person!
CAN NOT WAIT !!!!!!
thank you days!!!

he is… just so likeable. it would be amazing if Jason Cook returned to DAYS on a permanent basis, but I’ll take whatever we get from him
Great news from DAYS today!

Look forward to it. What about Belle and Claire?

This is awesome news! Jason is a really good actor, I loved him on both DAYS and GH. He was great as Shawn-D, better than Brandon Beemer IMO. Hopefully Martha Madison can return next. Can’t wait!

THANK THE SOAP JESUS THIS IS GREAT NEWS FOR DAYS.

Jason “Cookie” Cook is the cutest guy and was wasted on GH. I am so glad he is coming back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The new writing regime is really going all out and I commend them for it! I love Shawn and its great to see him back with the Bradys. I hope they will announce that Phillip is also returning. Too bad we have to wait till the fall to see all the vets return.

Man Days is going all out for the anniversary! Days is going to be kick ass starting late summer. I’d love to see him return for good, same with Bo and Patch.

There is a rumor that Michael T. Weiss might return, I hope so because that would be great also.

I’d love to see Carrie and Mike return for the anniversary also.

Michael T. Weiss’ Mike was paired with Derya Ruggles’ Robin and Lisa Howard’s April.

Roark Critchlow’s Mike was paired with Christie Clark’s Carrie.

Either one would be good, but Michael T. Weiss would create more buzz.

Days tapes so far in advance, that is almost maddening to hear about all these returns, knowing I have to wait 5 months to actually see it all unfold on screen. Kudos to them for keeping the spoilers to a minimum.

This is excellent news. I have said for months this was needed to keep Hope front and center. It seems like Daniel and Hope have lost a lot of steam lately. I have another idea. Can DOOL bring Jessica Collins on as the new Belle? I still want Nadia, Farah and Jay Kenneth back full time.

Jessica is too old for belle

Probably a no on Collins. She’s 44, which would suddenly make “baby sister” Belle now OLDER than Carrie (42), Sami and Eric (36-38), and practically twins with her brother, Brady (early to mid 40s). Belle should be around 30-34 at most (based on her last portrayer) and always younger than every sibling but Paul Narita, the baby in that family.

Get Belle back. It makes NO sense to have Shawn D and Claire back without Belle too. John and Marlena need a visit from their daughter also. It will be interesting to see who else is coming back but they need to do well in the ratings that’s for sure-I think NBC will make their decisions on how this all turns out.

Happy Jason is returning and not his recast, Brandon-also, I hope he leaves his Tom Cruise impression-esque personality behind-he brought this to work everyday while on General Hospital as Drake, Jr-I can’t even remember the character he played..

I’d like to see involved in an action adventure plot like his parents used to be.

I was all excited when I heard he was going to be coming back. Now it sounds like it’s just for the 50th anniversary; like Ali Sweeney. Bummer

Yes excited but too bad it’s not longer. He should be put on contract and come back for a long time.

If Martha Madison cant return they should hire Kristina Sisco to play Belle. She’s about the Right age. She played Charity on Passions.

Excited for JC to return too. I liked him saggy better then BB

I would love to see Jason Cook, Kristen Storms, and Bo Brady back on the show.
I really miss seeing all of them on the show!
I also miss E Jay Dimera.

Oh my goodness!! I am so very excited that Shawn D is coming back to Days!! Now if only you could bring back Mimi, that would make it even more amazing!! I was always a huge Shimi fan!!

Lisa Rinna Would Be Down to Reprise Her Role of Taylor McBride in ‘Melrose Place’ Reboot

When Lisa Rinna departed her popular role of Billie Reed on Days of our Lives back in 1995, her next major role would be a jump to primetime and the soapy Melrose Place.

In 1996, Lisa was introduced as new character Taylor McBride and stayed with the Fox young adult sudser for three seasons. Now in 2024, with the recent reveal that a Melrose Place revival is the works with Heather Locklear, Daphne Zuniga and Laura Leighton all on board to reprise their signature roles, would Rinna board the project should it come to fruition?

Speaking with PEOPLE, Rinna expressed, “Well, gosh, I’ve heard about it. I haven’t been approached or anything, but I would love to see what Taylor McBride is up to 25 years later. Wouldn’t that be something?”

Photo: FOX

OG Melrose Place fans know that in story, Taylor moved to the Melrose Place apartment building with her husband Kyle played by Rob Estes. However, Taylor had her eye on Dr. Peter Burns played by former GH star Jack Wagner (ex-Frisco). But, by the time she had moved to the apartment complex, Peter had married tough as nails ad executive, Amanda Woodward, played by Heather Locklear.

Recalling her time on Melrose Place, Rinna added that it, “was one of my greatest and most fun acting experiences, playing Taylor and working with Heather and the whole crew.”  Rinna also noted, “So if they need a Taylor McBride appearance, they know who to call. I’m around.”

The new Melrose Place is in development at CBS Studios. In the premise of the reboot, the Melrose Place residents reunite after the death of one of their friends, “but the pressure cooker of a reunion soon uncovers old traumas, rekindles old romances, reignites old resentments, and reveals new secrets… throwing our characters into chaotic drama that’s reminiscent of the past, but with a much more modern perspective.”

So, would you want to see Lisa Rinna reprise her Melrose Place role as Taylor McBride? Comment below.

Kristian Alfonso Returns to Days of our Lives for Tribute to The Late Bill Hayes

After a few weeks of Days of our Lives fans being upset that Kristian Alfonso (Hope Williams) was not on the first list of initial returns for Doug Williams’ funeral and episodes honoring his portrayer, the late Bill Hayes, comes word that the popular star is back and taping scenes.

Kristian reported to work on the Peacock streaming soap opera on Monday, April 22nd. She shared how important it is for her to be back for this particular return to the show that made her a household name.

“My return is very bittersweet,” Alfonso told TV Insider,  “because it is the end of an era with Bill gone. So to return to Days is very sad. I am appreciative that they came to me to include me in their series of shows honoring Doug and I’m very happy to see everyone, but I’m entering the studio with a heavy heart.”

Photo: JPI

It was back in 1983 that Kristian first debuted as Doug’s daughter, and now 41 years later looking back at it, and her time with Bill Hayes is very emotional for her.

“I remember my first scenes with him/ He was very loving, very welcoming. That he was very talented and an incredible actor and an icon, that all goes without saying, but my personal relationship and my working relationship with Bill, it was home,” expressed Alfonso. “Doing the scenes with Bill, I felt like I was with my dad because there was so much warmth and reality.”

Photo: JPI

Alfonso did express some deep regret, in that she had wanted to work with Bill Hayes during her last appearance on the soap back in 2023, but according to the iconic actress, there was something in the works but it never materialized.  “I’m sad that I did not get the opportunity to do the storyline that Ron (Carlivati, head writer) had planned/ It was great; we returned to Salem to reunite with our families and I would have had father/daughter scenes with Billy. What Ron had written was beautiful and emotional and it was a fantastic story. I was 100 percent for it and the fans would have loved it.”

Photo: JPI

As for if Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope will be back on-screen together anytime soon, Kristian would only say, “What I will say is don’t give up hope.” Doug’s passing and memorial episodes will stream later this year come late November into December.

So, are you happy to learn that Kristian Alfonso is back taping episodes surrounding Doug’s memorial episodes? Comment below.
