Jensen Buchanan Joins The Young and the Restless!
Look who’s coming back to daytime? In a move that reunites her with her former boss on Another World, Jensen Buchanan has been cast on the CBS sudser, The Young and the Restless. Buchahan will be working again with Y&R EP, Jill Farren Phelps, who helmed the lives of the citizens of Bay City.
According to Soap Opera Digest, Jensen has joined the number one soap opera in the new role of socialite Elise Moxley. She will begin airing on November 13th.
Jensen told SOD on her sudden return to daytime, “I was really honored that Young and the Restless would come to me and say, ‘Do you want to do this part?’. I wasn’t exactly playing hard to get. I was just kind of retired and was sort of finished with that chapter in my life, but then I found myself beginning a new place in my life, and my children are both grown now — which is amazing because I had them on Another World— and found myself now saying, ‘I have the time, and I definitely have the passion again.’”
One Life to Live fans know Buchanan from her first soap role as Sarah Gordon. She then went on to Another World to play the dual roles of Vicky/Marley Frame, replacing Anne Heche. She later reprised the role of Vicky on As the World Turns. However in 2001, Jensen in a contractual nightmare move went to General Hospital to play the role of Melissa Bedford, but was still under contract to ATWT. She has not appeared on another soap opera until now.
What do you thnk of the news of Jensen joining Y&R? Happy to see her back on daytime? Did you love her on Another World? What story, and with whom, will Elise Moxley find herself in within the canvas of Genoa City? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!

On Friday, reports surfaced that Steve Kent, Senior Executive Vice President of Programming at Sony Pictures Television, is no longer with the company and overseeing the Sony soap operas, Days of our Lives and The Young and the Restless.
According to Soap Opera Digest, a set side source reported that Kent’s last day was last Friday, April 12th, which was one day after what would have been his final appearance in his Sony VP role at the Days of our Lives 15,000th episode on set celebration.

Y&R’s Hayley Erin Previews Her Role in Horror-Thriller ‘New Life’
I wonder if she will be a new love interest for Jack or Victor? Either way she will be welcomed by me.
NOOO!!!! Tad Martin, er, I mean, Michael E Knight’s new character would be perfect for her!
Jack and Victor get all the chicks and I sick of it, sick of it I tell ya! I already am feeling the love and chemistry!
YES! LOL HOORAY!
some one… for Michael E. Knight character
I was racking my brain on whom he could get involved with
here she is… the answer
ugh! i’m so sick of the very idea that Victor and Jack are still “sexing” it up… hey… in front of the camera that is
Oh my gosh!!!! How great is that!!!! My grandmother is ecstatic. Besides Constance Ford, Jensen was her second favorite, as Vicky Hudson on AW.
She and Jack should be paired….more age appropriate than Gina. Plus, Jensen has Phyllis-like spunk…….something in which Gina, as a good actress as she is, desperately lacks.
Love Jensen’s return to Daytime.
hey CeeCee
Loved Constance Ford, loved her and had the opportunity to meet brilliant, everlasting Victoria Wyndham and Charles Keating, among lots of another AW actors at fan luncheons held back in NYC, in the late 90s.
Jensen opened up the door that taking over the role(s) of a very popular fan-favorite (Anne Heche) can happen successfully over time. (see my post below)
Jensen and Paul-Michael Valley (Ryan) developed their own sexy chemistry as Vicky & Ryan. My all-time favorite AW super couple!!!
I have to ask Gran if she attended that. She was/is such a socialite….she was always involved with anything that had to do with soaps with soaps. She slowed down a it….she’s 75, but still ‘butterflying’. AW , to this day, is her favorite soap.
Thank you for the info, Jeremy. Later.
She was great on AW. I didn’t think anyone could play Vicky after Anne Heche did such a great job, but Jensen did it.
Wonder who Elise is.
don’t forget the original Ellen Wheeler who catapulted to daytime stardom off the roll…even Cynthia Watros (Annie Dutton GL/Kelly Y&R) played the character briefly.
OMG I loved her on Another World– the only good thing about JFP coming to Y&R was the hope she might lure some AW alumnus back into daytime– I mean she did have Kale Brown do the radio announcer’s voice during a winter storm a while back, but nothing since. Another World had so many wonderful actors on it and some of them I haven’t seen since– would love for Tom Eplin to come back to daytime too. Looking forward to this, hopefully the character will be written well so JB can stay in GC a long time.
Why is Y&R collecting all these throw-back soap relics?
I was just thinking of Jensen Buchanan yesterday, after reading the various blogs regarding the departure of Guy Wilson’s Will from DAYS. So many fans bashed and bashed and rehashed Guy Wilson after fan favorite Chandler Massey left the role of Will. Recasts happen people, it’s hard to accept but it is what it is.
Fan favorite Anne Heche left AW after being so popular playing Vicky and Marley Hudson, etc etc. Then, OLTL favorite Jensen Buchanan came on board to AW, granted we didn’t have twitter, blogs, social media then, yet on a whole fan began to accept Jensen in the role. Point is, so many fans for various reasons disliked Guy, fair enough, point is, fan favorites can and do get replaced, it’s definitely a hard a transition for us fans, and I feel Guy Wilson did what he could with what he was given, and now we have no Will on DAYS.
Welcome back to daytime Jensen, I didn’t know she had contractual issues when at GH. I never knew what happened to her short-lived character, I think A. Martinez was on GH as Roy back then. I don’t watch Y&R, but it sounds like it’s a good time for Jensen to return to daytime. She’s got her own something something special about her. This may be great news for Y&R fans. Jensen is a gem in her own right. She successfully took over the role of twins Vicky and Marley, and won over fans. Guy was definitely on his way for fans to accept his portray, as many posters have said they actually enjoyed and or warmed up to Guy.
Give our recasts a break, filling up the shoes of fan favorite is no easy task. It takes time, and Jensen is proof of this.
I LOVE this post and wholeheartedly agree!!!!!!
The difference is Jensen did a good job in her recast; Guy did not. And I am one who LOVED Anne Heche and thought she was irreplaceable so for Jensen to have won me over means she was fantastic.
I hope she will be paired with Jack. As much as I love Gina Tognoni, she has no chemistry with Peter Bergman, Jack/Phyllis is not working this time. The writers are writing Phyllis too hard and angry and Gina constantly has a scowl on her face. Jensen is a fantastic actress and I am looking forward to this. Keep Elise away from Victor!!!
I remember her best from OLTL. She and Jessica Tuck were great as the Gordon sisters.
What was the story about the contractual nightmare on General Hospital? Her character just petered out.
I love her and miss her warm presence on daytime. It’s too bad that this role sounds like another short term throwaway role. I am shocked that no soap has plucked her up in a meaningful contract role…say Melissa or some other Horton on Days. But it will be nice to see her back in action even if it is with a name as dreadful as Elise Moxley. When will soaps learn not to cast big name soap stars in these pointless characters? Her last role on GH was a disaster and far beneath her talents. Her character was anchored to no one and went nowhere. She is in league with Laura Wright and Maura West as the younger generation of soap divas and deserves a role commensurate with her talents.
This is a good thing. Maybe JFP can get Victoria Wymdham to join as Ashley’s mom. Victor put Ashley’s parentage on the table recently.
Another new character?!? REALLY?!?
Pratt can’t figure out what to do with the characters on the canvas as it is – why???
You posted exactly what I intended to say, so ditto!
This is her first acting role of any kind since 2002,not counting any stage productions.
Maybe they can keep Michael Knight and pair her with him!
This is great news! She is missed in daytime and she will help Y&R be a little better but that’s not easy to do since it sucks these days.
I LOOOOOVED Anne Heche as Vicky/Marley but Jensen is so classy she belongs on Y&R!
Jensen has the look of the Hemingway sisters. So beautiful.
Jensen is one of my all time faves. I loved her as Sarah Gordon on OLTL. Followed her to AW and became a fan of that show. And even endured the GH stint. Glad that post-divorce she is heading back to soaps. I have never been a Y&R watcher but will at least check it out if she is on canvas.
This is fantastic. I was voting for Jess to take on Phyllis before GT. I love this actress. JFP – wel done. Now go get Victoria Wyndham and let her acting strength be a female counter to victor. She would be amazing toe to toe with victor and if she needs to be Ashley’s mother to be able to do it, I say yes!!!
Agreed!
Is JFP going to fly her in on her broom like she does Burton? We have Ashley & Lauren long time veterans of this show with no storyline and we bring in another FOJ. When she was playing Marley/Vicky on AW she decided it was just too much work to play both characters and she only wanted to play Vicky so they decide to bring in Ellen Wheeler the original portrayer of the characters and had her play Marley only problem Ellen is about a foot taller. She also if I recall was a total bust on GH.
Looking forward to seeing her!! Love to see her be part of Sharon’s family
I love jensen buchanan. One of my favorite actresses in daytime. She was amazing in the roles of Sarah Gordon on one life to live and vicky/Marley hudson on another world. Y n R is lucky to have such a talented actress to join their ranks. Wish her the best.
Really loved her on AW so it will be good to see her on Y&R!
I wasn’t a fan of hers when she took over for Anne Heche. I thought she was bland, boring and annoying.
This is just excellent news. Jensen is an incomparable actor, and her presence will lift the show and everyone around her. Huge props to Jill Farren Phelps for bringing her back into the daytime fold.
Ahhh AW’!!!! my o my hiw great would it be too see Grantband Vicky again! loved their storyline, they hated eachother with passion much like AJ and Carly from GH… hmm hope she can be paired with Victor! yes i said it.. VICTOR! I think it could work and be pretty fun.. did Hope have a sister?
I love seeing Jensen again. I think it will be pretty special, the story between her character and Victor. I was VERY HAPPY when my letter reached her about 20 years ago, thanks to Mr. Tom Eplin. And now VERY HAPPY to see her on Daytime TV again.
Yes, yes, and yes! Vicky (Jensen) was absolutely my favorite character and actress.
Loved Vicky And Marley Love Hudson Welcome Back Jensen
Love Jensen Buchanan
Am totally thrilled that Jensen Buchanan is back, loved her as Vicky/Marley on Another World, then seeing her on As The World Turns (even though briefly) is what got me to watch! 🙂
