He’ll be missed. I’m glad they’re keeping Stefano alive.

Oh man, the emotions with this one. Joseph and Stefano have been a big part of Days that it’s hard to believe that he’s gone for good. I’m glad to see a send off episode. I’ll have to watch it on the NBC website later.

Oh, my goodness. Seeing Mr. Mascolo will be so surreal…..the show was not shown, today, due to the blizzard.
I do hope it will be shown tomorrow. I know I will cry….miss him. RIP.

I had a snow day here in NY, and I was able to watch DOOL live. I’m so glad I did. The In Memoriam for Joe Mascolo at the end of the episode was beautiful. It’s hard for me to believe we’ll never see Stefano again except in flashbacks. It was an honor to watch him for all these years. I never got tired of seeing the Phoenix rise, and it’s fitting that Stefano escaped from jail yet again. We’ll miss you, Stefano DiMera, and Joe Mascolo.

You are lucky, Beth. I had no programming ( I am in Suffolk County, NY), only the snow coverage until 3PM.

May you R.I.P. !!! The Great Stefano Dimera.

The “Phoenix” will be missed, maybe not so fondly, but the role was played briantlly by Joe!

Will miss him.. He was Iconic!!

I watched the “tribute” episode this afternoon on the alternate COZI channel due to the blizzard here in NY. Am I a Grinch to say I was deeply disappointed? The memorial at the very end, with a great photo of Joe and Shakespearean quote was lovely, but I think that a retrospective of some of his greatest scenes, especially those with Thao and James Scott as well as Dierdra and Kristian, would have been something his many fans would have appreciated. It was obvious that the miniscule scenes of Stefano had been recorded much earlier, and he no lines. How wonderful it would have been to have heard his deep and powerful voice one more time. Today should have been a day when other story lines stepped aside and Stefano/Joe should have held sway for the entire hour. Just my opinion, and I am happy that they at least did something.

I agree with you Boots! I, too was disappointed. They should have devoted the whole episode to Stefano – if he was unable to speak, they could have had flashbacks with EJ, Lexie and Kristen. But, we got what we got and Joe is gone, may he Rest In Peace. But! Stefano, the Phoenix will never die – not in the memories of his fans!!!

They did do a full episode last year with past Stefano scenes, when Stefano was first killed off, all his adversaries gathered at the Brady Pub, there was Roman, John, Marlena, Caroline, Victor, Kate and a very quiet Hope. I still don’t get how he came back to life this time, those death scenes wer pretty final.

I am hoping they will do something later, like Y&R did for Jeanne Cooper.

It seemed to me that it was merely old footage of him in a jail cell from some older episode edited in to make it seem these folks were confronting Stefano — don’t get wrong I am super glad they undid his death at Hope’s hand– thought that was the dumbest thing the previous writers ever did– so great– and I love the idea the character is somewhere out there– never to be seen again, but causing trouble in Salem until the show ends whenever that might be— I think Joe would have liked that.

Yes, super dumb to have Hope shoot/kill Stefano. And the scenes of it were ridiculous IMO.

Maybe Stefano and Sally Spectra are living it up somewhere. 🙂

I heard that Joe’s last filmed appearance, which was this, was taped back in August of last year.

It wasn’t an old film; it was an actual performance because of how Days tapes its shows. In this case, I’m glad that they tape months ahead. (only in this case)

Didn’t air in NY due to snow coverage.

Very touching I cried and actually goose bumps watching this,May he rest in peace and God bless him and his family he will be missed.

Well, we saw Hope shoot him, we saw him go down, we saw Rafe assist Hope in putting his body in a building that was about to be imploded. So, although I have not yet watched today’s episode on the NBC app – will be interesting to see how the writers got around this one –

Agreed. I’ve watched every ep, they havn’t properly explained this

Stevie g , remember Days tapes shows months ahead as to how he came back; in this case, I’m glad that the show tapes months ahead.

One of the best villains ever!! He will be missed! RIP

This is one of those moments where I’m glad that DAYS tapes ahead of time that Joseph was strong enough at that moment last year to make one last hurrah for the show and for the fans who thought that his last onscreen death was his last appearance ever.

As the song goes from the lady with a beard: “Rise like a phoenix”, Stefano DiMera.

It wasn’t. He also appeared in ghostly dream of Hope’s and he appeared to Chad aswell.

You will always be remembered in our hearts. RIP

REST!

They should have an hour long episode tribute for him, with a bunch of different old episodes put together..

I will miss his accent and watching his moves as a villian.

It was both great seeing him and at the same time hard to watch. The fact that he didn’t speak lead me to feel he couldn’t talk because of his Alzheimer’s… but did the best he could while struggling with his memory because of the awful disease. It would have been nice if they would have shown clips from the past so you could hear his voice which I think would have softened the fact that he wasn’t speaking. Or they could have spliced in him speaking from his cell while not seeing his face so that it had the appearance of him answering Marlena, Anna and Rafe. Wish I wasn’t left with the sad image of him not speaking but I will also remember what a great actor he was. Thanks Joe.

The show was not seen here on NBC yesterday due to the storm but they went and showed it on there sister station Cozi tv and I am glad they did. However I did see todays show what is up with Shane and Steve did they fake the whole thing and why. Perhaps just to free Hope I am really confused.I suppose if u missed Thursdays episode you can go the the Days site NBC.Com and you maybe able to find yesterday show there to watch .More snow to come .lol

That’s exactly what I did. We had snow coverage ALL day in Connecticut, so didn’t see it ! It was great to see him one last time. RIP Joe !!

The show is to be commended for bringing back Joe Mascolo one last time to free themselves from the terrible decision by the prior writing regime to have Hope “kill” Stefano. It is clear those scenes were taped the same day as the rest of the show, but they had to be sensitive to Mr. Mascolo’s medical condition, and I thought they were very considerate. Remember that back in March 2016 there was an entire clip show devoted to Stefano as the Bradys sat around the pub and remembered their encounters with Stefano. You can still download that one on Itunes. And it is fitting that Marlena of all characters was part of the final show with Stefano. That was another mistake from the prior writing regime to have Hope be the one to “kill” him rather than Roman or John or Marlena, whose lives he had destroyed for so long.

This week, DAYS head scribe, Ron Carlivati, confirmed that, and told Michael Fairman TV on the decision of the scripts the team submitted: “I like to have some humor, but it was also the funeral, and then there was Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) giving birth, and then Vivian’s (Louise Sorel) crashing the reading of the will.”
