Michael Easton To Exit General Hospital!

With rumors of a murder mystery coming up on General Hospital,  and persistent speculation, Daytime Confidential is confirming today, after their initial report, that daytime favorite Michael Easton is exiting the ABC soap opera.

Fan favorite Easton’s character of Silas Clay, has unfortunately never really had the story, and the character never fully fleshed out, since Michael had to abandon his role as the beloved John McBain, who crossed over to GH from One Life to Live, following the demise of that show upon ABC cancelling it back in 2011. When Easton came on to the canvas in Port Charles he was re-teamed with Kelly Monaco (Sam) in a romance since their on-screen chemistry is always palpable and harkened back to their days on the defunct soap, Port Charles.

Once Prospect Park relaunched the online version of One Life, and they filed suit against ABC for use of the characters of McBain, Todd Manning (Roger Howarth) and Starr Manning (Kristen Alderson), then GH head writer Ron Carlivati had to do some quick shuffling and rebranded Easton’s GH on-screen life through the character of the good doc.

Michael Easton has currently been working on his own directing and writing projects, and his graphic novels which we have previously reported on.  Easton’s legions of fans will no doubt follow him where ever he lands next, and are sad to hear the news, but probably also have been frustrated with his lack of story on GH.

So, what do you think about Michael Easton leaving GH? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.

At long last! Michael is such a one-note actor, who does not display any kind of emotion at all. And in any of his roles on GH, he had no chemistry with Kelly Monaco; I look forward to seeing Dr. Silas depart the series. Maybe he is the “murder mystery” that has been lurking online.

Awe. I enjoy Michael Easton, not sure if he’s a one-note actor, his face lightens up when he actually smiles. I think the lack of story for Silas, has been the issue. I will miss Michael Easton as I was really warming up to his scenes with Michelle Stafford, Silas seems to balance Nina when they have scenes together. I think it’s a shame that writing team since the origination of the Silas character, really hasn’t given Michael Easton worthy story-lines. I guess, this means, that Melissa Archer won’t be coming to GH to be paired up with him.
I just will miss his scenes mostly with Michelle Stafford, like I said, I like how they balanced one another in scenes in the past few months. Maybe, PLEASE, let Kiki go off with Silas to whenever he goes. Silas PLEASE take Kiki with you, and Denise. Ava can stay! 🙂

I think he’s an understated actor who has a very strong presence.
It’s just Ron C failed to connect him to the larger canvas. His only connections are with new characters most of us do not care about like Nina and Ava (sorry, I know most love Ava because of West but the character has been so poorly drawn that I could give two figs about her).
Silas was doomed to fail because of the bad writing–it’s not Michael Eastman’s fault. I know he has a successful career as a writer and wish him all the best.

I so agree with you its lack of roles the new kiki hadore roles than him,and she is the worse actor on gh is like all the older actors are getting push aside no face time it’s a shame I’ve been watching him for years instead of getting rid of him replace some writers

I think it really sucks. They should of kept his role as Set. McBain of OLTL to GH. The writers could of made him the new police commissioner instead of that jurk that’s doing it now. Michael I wish you all the best and I’ll keep following you. I don’t like GH much after what the writer’s did to you. Love you Michael always!!

I agree
He would make a much better commissioner than Jordan. She’s a one goal, straight- line vengeance machine against Sonny. Get rid 9f her and move Micheal Easton there ! Hell, all the dead people cone back to life on GH, so nothing is impossible in Port Charles !!

What a great idea, De Bohm! Great moniker, too. LOL.
Easton would be perfect in that role….

Scott! Michael Easton is a very good actor and TPTB at GH are idiots for losing ME!

Amen to that!!!!

Michael Easton is a noteworthy, interesting actor, who is just stuck in an unforgiving and disfavorable role.
As far as I am concerned, Kelly Monaco was all wrong for him. She’s not that magnetic , Scott…. Boring as heck! So, to each his own.
Michael’s McBain was one huge, authentic and stellar character paired with the right counterpart….Melissa Archer. Those two sizzled….hot, hot, hot!!!!!

What she (Cee Cee) said….in spades.

Agree with CeeCee , Easton and Archer were hot the pairing of Silas and Sam not! Would love to see MIchael Easton and Melissa Archer reunited again in another project!

@Harry (and CeeCee)….This is very disappointing news….to say the least! I’ve truly liked and enjoyed ME’s unique presence on the GH canvas. His cool, silent, intelligent, yet intense, nature has always been most appealing, and I have followed him in many different roles throughout his career. If this decision truly reflects what the actor has chosen for himself, then I wish him the best in his future endeavors, as he definitely has the talent and versatility to move on to far bigger and better things. However, if on the contrary, Easton’s departure is not at his own behest, then I shall be completely furious. Out of all the useless, boring characters currently residing in the Port Charles vicinity—-and there are more than plenty from which to choose—Silas is the one to be plucked out of the pathetic line-up and marked for extermination? Oh please!….Numerous players are just begging–I really mean BEGGING!– to be killed, and Dr. Clay is not amongst them! Whilst the past year or so has admittedly not been a stellar one for the normally outstanding Easton, it was most certainly not his fault…what primarily did in his character was his unfortunate attachment to the albatross known as Nina. SHE was the absolute death of Silas….carrying her was a totally thankless task that he never deserved to be forced to shoulder….once that raving loon of a poor excuse for a spouse showed up in Port Charles, what had been a promising start for Dr. Clay became an exercise in utter futility for both the actor and the audience. Had the show runners only waved the white flag, cut their losses early on and declared defeat on MS’s total failure of a character when it initially became apparent that she would NEVER work on the GH canvas, then perhaps Silas could have moved on to a more fulfilling and meaningful place in the scheme of things. The fact that he was never given that chance is, to put it quite simply, unforgivable! Furthermore, if the spoilers are correct, and Dr. Clay meets his end at the hands of the atrocious Ava, then it will be well and truly time for her to go, too. Although I found MW’s previously despised hit woman somewhat tolerable after her reinvention as a loving mother, I do believe that under no circumstances should she be allowed to prevail in a business as usual mode should she once again commit the heinous crime of murder…that will be one death too many at the hands of this nervy character, no matter how popular her portrayer, MW, has been with some viewers. Lastly, the most urgent farewell should be to Stafford’s Nina…she has been an unmitigated disaster, and not one more minute should be wasted on this despicable whack job and her nonsensical saga…sorry, CeeCee, I know you adore this actress, but enough is enough!!!! Way too much time and effort has already been allotted to this miserable mistake of monumental proportion.

Hi, Marianne.
Yeah, I wish these two could have worked together in other endeavors. Too bad Melissa is leaving Days. If Michael would have joined the cast? Imagine that!

@Shay.
Ahh, sweet, Shay. No need to apologize to me. You are correct in describing the deplorable, confounding and impossible ‘chore’ given to Michelle. That fact should not, however, negate her acting skills. She was glorious in Y&R….and, I do not use the word lightly. Michelle’s Phyllis was unique…she owned it…it was hers!!!….bad girl, good girl, all in one. Ultimately she was redeemed. Everyone seems to think Gina Tognoni is doing a wonderful job as Phyllis. Yes, admittedly, she’s a fine actress, as Kelly, on OLTL. But, she is not the Phyllis we know. ….a complete turnabout….no, she’s not Michelle. The new Phyllis is one-dimensional….sappy, and the complete opposite of the character Michelle originated.
My point? I see how Nina was just thrown at us, like a bucket of ice water. I do not know how familiar you were with Stafford’s thespian dossier, but for those who had no previous knowledge of her, or had never seen her in action, it is quite plausible to dismiss her as an annoying and useless bug. Then, of course, sometimes we have pre-conceived notions about an actor/actress.
In any case, Shay. There are those who feel the same way about Easton. The protagonists were both presented under a shady light, leaving an unsavory taste in our mouths.
One could turn the tables and say that Easton brought Stafford down.(that is not to say I do not like Michael…I love him). He was not very nice to her, if you remember. To Nina, her world was no longer hers. The pain she suffered…the betrayal by both her mother and her husband held her within a colossal vise. It must have been, and still is, an Herculean feat to combat her way out.
When there is a new character on a long-time show, loved by many; sometimes we do develop a like or dislike….we accept the character or we do not…hey, I am the first to admit how I feel about certain ‘actors’/characters….needless to say, Shay, you know who they are. LOL……just as we develop certain friendships with our fellow-posters. It is amazing how much we learn about a faceless person, just by his/her writing. I guess that’s how on-line-dating works…HAHa!!
I am demoralized losing Michael. And, you are so right, as far as Ava is concerned. Remember how we strongly disliked the character? To you, it was her love as a mother, which means squat to her, as we have witnessed. Taking up with a baby to do the hanky-panky….and, her daughter’s boyfriend, to boot. I do not like Morgan….however, to me it was her acting….impeccable.
By the same token, you like Donna Mills. Her character should be shot. But, for those who are fans of hers, they tolerate her devilish antics.
Did you like Silas with Sam? If anyone can put a ball and chain around a man’s neck…..it is she. I thought I had ONCE seen a spark in her acting….ehhhh….that came to naught!!!!
Sorry for digressing, Shay….Lastly, I do agree with you. Unless something is done to fish Nina out of deep water….out of this endless sea voyage to nowhere, then, yes….the character should disappear with Silas. TPTB did Nina (whose mental state is sooo fragile) and all mental patients an injustice. When will they learn? Mental disability is not something to shape and mold to their advantage…they could have presented mental illness with more care and delicacy. Regardless of her age, Nina should have been a ward of the state. TPTB should have taken this approach. If these writers had done things according to universal law, (that’s from my Dad) Rick should be in jail…..yet, he was allowed to walk freely and cause havoc to a child-like, mentally frail, woman? Sigh…..Later, amica mia.

@Steph.
Absolutely, Steph. We will always relate to Michael as John McBain. That name is indelibly imprinted on our brain. But, I really think that if he had been given a more aspiring role, Michael/ Silas would have shone.

Applauding wildly for Shay’s post. What a beautiful and eloquent tribute and defense of Michael Eastman.
Right now, thinking of Geary hamming it up while playing his father, Michael is breath of fresh air.
Sometimes it seems that if an actor is not hammering you over the head with their mannerisms while shrieking their emotions, they are not lauded or appreciated.
There is power in subtlety–Eastman had that power. You just had to be paying attention.

Eh, Cee Cee, I am afraid that this one of those rare times in which I disagree with you. I never liked Stafford’s Phyllis on Y&R. Never! I thought she was over-the-top and monochromatic with her tone of voice. You know how she sounded when she was giving Sharon the what for? Well, that was the same tone of voice she utilized when speaking to friends, lovers and her children. In short, in my opinion she was and is, a one note actress.
I realize I am in the minority here, but I never understood the collective fan adulation this actress continues to receive. Her stint as Nina merely confirms my poor opinion of her acting skills.

@Harry.
Hi, Harry.
I’m afraid you’re not in the minority where Stafford is concerned. There are many who dislike both the actress and the character(s) she plays. It is a matter of simpatia. As I have said many times before, Nina’s character, which has been affixed to the actress, is irritating; not endearing at all. I am still waiting for a modicum of redemption. However, I, hmyself, believe it is too late.
I feel that if the role were played by a younger actress, the storyline would have been received in a kinder, and more understanding way. The child-like persona just does not sit well with me. By the same token, perhaps that has been the writers’s intention from the onset. However, knowing who wrote the drivel……well, perhaps not.
Contrary to your feelings, Harry; I thought Michelle’s Phyllis killed the role. An actor/actress either rubs us the right way or not….it is as everything else in life, dearest Harry. Gina Tognoni is a great actress. But, for me? She does not have the wherewithal to be Phyllis…..the character, and all her nuances, has disappeared. I am not enjoying her pity-party characteristics, at all. Jack this, Jack that. This is the same old man (who thinks he’s a stud) left her to wither away in a coma to be involved with a woman who flipped her lid. I could understand if Jack were a young man, starting anew, but he should have been searching for a new medicine to ease his arthritic knees, not another woman.
The true-Phyllis would have never found herself lamenting the misery to have befallen her. And, the make-out sessions and sex scenes with Jack/Fack just turn my stomach…what is that orange make-up he wears? Loos like he and Sonny share the same make-up artist! So, as everyone else keeps suggesting, I control the FF button.
It is befuddling how the writers expect us to believe the sex drive and prowess of a man over sixty…..always at the ready….especially soon after waking from his comatose state? Really? Gosh, Harry. WOW!! I doubt men half his age have that much stamina. You see, Harry? ….there’s proof positive…..I know what it feels like to be completely turned off by certain characters…but, that’s another chapter…LOL.
I hope the charade ( the Adventures of Nina Clay…lol) comes to an end……that is, do something with Nina and Franco….something biting and worthwhile; otherwise, I agree with you, and many others…..time to say bye-bye!
Always a pleasure, Harry….later…well, in a few weeks…lol.

Double Cee, chiming in on Michelle Stafford. She was in a coma for twenty years and tied to Silas so they couldnt make her too young. Michelle looks great. I dont focus on her age but how the character was written. First she is in a coma for 20 years and they barely show her adjusting to life as we know it today. Think about how much has changed in 20 years they could have toyed with. Just with phones. [Pay phones, pagers, *69, ect.] Didnt she have any friends she wanted to see after being in a coma for that long? But after that they never even tease about Kiki being her daughter. I hate her with Franco. Well, I hate the character Franco! Michelle was born to play Phyllis, plain and simple. She wanted to do other things, fine. Nina shouldnt have been one of them! Gina Tags is a good actress but she is horrible as Phyllis. I dont know if its just her or the writing but Michelle lit up the room and she had fire in her eyes and she clicked with Michael, Victor and Nick. Now she just mills around thinking something is off with Jack, I get sick just thinking about it! And Billy, Billy still sucks! Thats all for now darling!

@Timmm.
Hi Timmm.
LOL. I think I my words di not come out right! Of course, Michelle looks great! She’s beautiful! And yes, I realize she’s been ‘asleep’ for twenty years. When she first awoke, I went into this tirade of how unfair it was for some not to be very sympathetic with her plight. The only reason I mention her age is because the writers have persistently written the character as a child….the storyline should not have gone that way……only my feeling, Timmm.
Oh, I agree. Michelle WAS BORN to play Phyllis. I simply fell fo Michelle ….I was mesmerized by her. I was fourteen when I first espied her on the Y&R stage. I wanted her height and wear those body-fitting dresses with the same ease. Obviously, my body was somewhat still acerbic, but a girl could dream…..Actually, at the time, I was stuck conforming to the protocol of my school’s dress code.
I am glad you feel the same way about Gina T. We do agree on her acting skills, but, not as Phyllis.
I will certainly miss chatting with you, Timmm….only for a few weeks. We will be on the go almost every day (thank God for nanny); sadly, I will miss so many episodes…but, I will catch up.
So I bid you adieu…..for now. Enjoy the rest of the summer, my friend.

I could not have said it better. I am so sad at the loss of such a wonderful actor whom I have followed for years. Melissa and he were the best, most angry, romantic, sexy, soulful pairings around my favorite OLTL couple that brought me years of enjoyment. Good luck and God bless Michael it is GH’s loss.

THEY WERE BEYOND HOT,HOT,HOT,HOT THEY WERE AN INFERNO!!!!!!! THAT IS WHY THEY NEED TO BE RE-UNITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scott (ATWT fan) you no Michael Easton is not a one note actor! Yes, he and Kelly Monaco have always had tons of chemistry. They have worked together fie years. You don’t know what your talking about

To each his own but the reality is Easton will always be remembered as McBAIN. The character of Silas Clay did him NO favors! The whole PP SITUATION WAS A DISASTER. The reintroduction of these new characters failed and left a void in the hears of longtime OLTL fans who had supported these actors for years. And oh yeah, Easton and Archer did sizzle , were hot together and made it seem effortless. I hope I get to see them working together again somewhere somehow! LOVE THEM,

So, Lisa Carol Wade, not only do you feel the need to make the same comment twice, but in your second commend, you stoop to “name-calling” to ease your own insecurity. Great job to you. You, my dear, also do not know how to spell. It is “you’re”, not “your” in your final sentence.

Scott that face in the picture says it all. He looks the same way at all times. lol. He doesn’t didn’t won’t can’t click with anyone on screen as well as Melissa Archer…he had better chemistry with the Jukebox in LLanview in his apartment. LOL

ONLY MA HE HAD PHENOMENAL CHEMISTRY WITH & WILL CONTINUE TOO & THEY WILL BE RE-UNITED!!!!!

No chemistry with KM AT ALL ZERO!!!!!! THEY WERE HORRIBLE AS THEY WERE ON PC!! BECAUSE IT WASN’T MA ONLY MA HE HAS INSANE,PHENOMENAL,MASSIVE CHEMISTRY WITH!!!!!! AND THEY NEED TO BE ON A NETWORK SOAP TOGETHER HOPEFULLY Y&R THEY WOULD BE FANTASTIC,GREAT!!!! Y&R IF YOU CAN HEAR ME SNAP THESE 2 TALENTED MEGA SOAP STARS UP ASAP!!!!!!-

First Kristen, and now Michael is leaving. I guess playing a doctor isn’t that exciting from playing a vampire or a detective who doesn’t play by his own rules!

Don’t be surprise when Roger departs too. I heard this was the same writer who was writing for OLTL when he left in 2003

If Howarth follows, I may tune back in more regularly to GH. Any time he is on, I tune out completely.

When I don’t like a character or storyline, I fast forward. Why not tune in at all. I fast forward anything with Ava and the current Ric trying to make Nina go crazy storyline.

When I watch GH it’s live while I’m working. I don’t DVR it because it just isn’t good enough these days on any level for me spend time watching it in the evening or on the weekend.

So since it’s on live, when Franco comes on I just shut it off, knowing he’ll be on every segment. Yesterday, when Franco was at Morgan’s door and started doing his schtick and histrionics, I just turned the whole thing off. I don’t find Howarth the least bit funny or entertaining, he is just such an annoying presence, he ruins the whole episode for me.

Me too, Matilda. I cannot believe that the actor I once found riveting, darkly compelling and complex is now providing fast forward material. I cannot bear to watch Franco–he is just so dreadful. It’s like he’s doing a poor impersonation of Jack Tripper from Three’s Company.

That’s the thing Harry, I never watched OLTL or ATWT, so I didn’t know RH when he came to GH. I didn’t have a problem with Todd. But Franco is a disaster and part of the problem is Howarth. It just isn’t the writing for Franco. I find his acting choices to be annoying because they don’t fit the character and I really don’t find him skilled at comedy regardless.

I know he has fans who watched him in previous roles, and I feel that he is performing for those people who get a kick out of watching him do anything. It’s as if he’s saying, I’m Todd, or Paul, or really, I’m Roger Howarth and here’s what i’m doing. I really think he just needs to go.

A www, Matilda. Give Franco a chance. Once Rick is out of the way, I am hoping he and Nina will make a go of it. It is in the hands of the new writers. I do see how you feel. For how long must the clowning go on? I get it. But, today, his acting impressed me. He is taking matters into his own hands and will save Nina from that weasel, and MadMaddie.

I think Franco has had enough chances in two years. Why would I care if Franco, a useless character I can’t stand, saves Nina, another useless character I can’t stand?

I am not impressed with Howarth’s acting in the least. He makes awful choices on a consistent basis. Anyone can turn in a decent scene or two. He’s awful most of the time. And since you brought up Ric, that man, Rick Hearst in an actor.

Howarth doesn’t realize that he isn’t on OLTL, that he isn’t as famous as he thinks he is and the GH audience isn’t filled with fans who know his previous character and want to watch him do schtick like his eating thing. When he was recast as Franco, he never thought that he needed to build a character and earn the audience’s respect because he thought everyone watching knew Todd Manning and loves him. He was wrong and I’ve seen too much nonsense, bad performances and attitude in the last two years to want to see him on my screen, playing a useless character, when there are so many great GH characters and yes actors that are not on because of him.

Time for him to go.

My feeling about Roger Howarth is that he took one look at the script and threw his hands up and said,”I give up.” And he did. He is capable of so much better, and I find his performance as Franco wince inducing.
His ‘I-give-up’ approach to acting would be somewhat tolerable if Franco wasn’t featured in front burner storylines every single day of the week.
And it certainly doesn’t help that they seem determined to pair him up with that oxygen sucker, scene chewing, overly mannered and highly over rated Michelle Stafford. The only hope for Roger is if they have Franco exit stage left with Nina. Then he can take a very long vacation and re enter stage right as an entirely different character, possibly a Quartermaine. We viewers would have to forget that there was ever a character named Franco–call it selective amnesia.

If an actor throws his hands up and gives up he should go and never come back. There are plenty of actors, better than Howarth, who would love a steady gig on GH. I have not seen any great acting from him, even when he was Todd on GH, and he just isn’t necessary. There is no guarantee that he would fair any better as another character. He would do the same annoying schtick and act like Todd anyway. Time for him to go.

I will be fine if Franco exits and takes Nina with him! MS is way too much for me…I am sad to see Silas go though because I was hoping for Ava to end up with Silas… I am not a fan of Ava and Morgan as a couple.

Michael Easton didn’t have a choice but leave OLTL. KMEL got cancelled. Nobody knew at the time that it would end up online. That didn’t last anyway.

I personally wish ABC could get the three characters back. I really enjoyed each of the actors in their OLTL role. I think the new roles were forced and IMO just do not work. Although I love Roger and Michelle as Franco and Nina.

Hate to see him go, he is a great actor and will miss him, wish him all the best

Hate to see him go

Port Charles is a bit crowded right now and the good doc hasn’t had much of a story– I hope before he goes they will reveal Kiki is really his and Nina’s daughter– I like the actor and frankly he deserves better than what they gave him so I’m glad to hear he was got other things to fall back on— I wouldn’t mind if he come back to Days– I know he played a role there once, maybe he could reprise it for the 50th.

On Days he played Tanner Scofield…and his girlfriend was Molly Brinker…both characters never left a lasting impression to warrant a return but maybe he could play Julie’s grandson Scott…imho!!!

Yeah, Mary SF, I would love to see Michael Easton on DAYS, as a new character.

Yeah, and be coupled with Serena/Melissa.

But isn’t Melissa Archer already done? Well, maybe if Xander doesn’t kill her, she can come back.

@ Chrystie Delancey, I believe Melissa Archer wraps up her time in Salem as Serena in August, along with Paul Telfer (Xander).

Yes, kill off Silas Clay, then have John McBain show up to investigate his murder! Hopefully, Nina kills him and is sent away for good!!! Franco also leaves…two months later the return of Todd Manning and Starr!!!…lol…OLTL will never return…its gone with the phone booth and dinosaur…lol…but since ABC bought a show from PP, maybe PP dropped their lawsuit in return and now some of those characters are free to show up on GH again!!!

Prospect Park and ABC are still at legal war over many things regarding the online OLTL, as far as i know. so ABC is still not allowed to use John, Starr, or Todd. But Kristen decided she’s been in Soaps since she was 3 and wants to explore other things, possibly college etc., it was not story line.

Yeah, i know…i just wanted to say those things before other OLTL fans…lol

How phenomenal would that be!

Jim (leave it to beaver) that would be cool.

The three One Life to Livers were interesting when they arrived but ALL three fell flat after they had to change their characters.

My heart is broken hearing the news of Michael’s leaving, I don’t understand GH at all, such a talented actor and beautiful person, he will be missed. Getting harder and harder to have any interest in GH at all anymore. Very Sad.

I hope this isn’t a sign of things to come with the new writing team. The change in writers offered an opportunity to give Michael the storyline he deserved. Boo, GH management!

I agree, though both John and Silas seemed to show little emotion.I don’t know if that’s the actor or characters.

I think it was the character. He showed more but different emotions in both roles. Lots of emotion when he played the vampire in Port Charles. As the vamp’s brother, his character had to be different

Vicki, I am pretty sure Michael Eastman had decided not to return before the announcement of a new writing team was made public.

It wasn’t his choice, Harry. He was let go.

@David Hi… How do you know??????????

Well, I don’t know, David. That could very well be.
But Eastman is enjoying success as a graphic novelist and director.
I guess I am hoping he wanted out because it’s kind of sad to think he was let go.
“As Jake Barnes from The Sun Also Rises once said,”It’s pretty to think so.”

It’s always sad when someone loses their job but the Silas character just wasn’t a good fit.

Loved him when he was on #OLTL. Now that he is leaving #GH, he will probably end up like a lot of other soap actors, going to #Days or #YR. Can’t wait to see what he does next.

He is a good actor, but as people were not watching him because he was a good actor, but because they could no longer watch him be John McBain on OLTL, I think him going is a good thing. I have long said this who is General Hospital not OLTL, and as such, h=we do not need several characters from OLTL filling the canvas, which I have thought all along was RC’s plan. If not for the trouble with Prospect Park, we would now be watching OLTL – Port Charles & not GH.

I have been a loyal fan of GH since the late 1960’s, and I did not like what I was seeing. Perhaps now things will change back to how they should be,–

Carol, I can’t agree. I actually watched both shows for years and I liked them both for their individuality. I felt that OLTL should have been left as it ended. I didn’t like how couples and history were changed to try to make the OLers fit in a universet that didn’t fit. I agree that Michael Easton was followed but when he was John and when he was Silas, none of that stuff was any good. I think GH should be restored to its glory and none of that had to do with the OLTL characters. The big push for ME was to be paried with KeMo due to the Port Charles vampire romance. To do all that damage to JaSam and that awful pairing with Todd and Carly and the cruelty of killing baby Hope…girl. I am not against crossovers but I do think this was a bit much.

I meant to say I CAN AGREE.

The damage was done to Jasam and Jolie and all for what? SO UNFAIR AND WRONG,

Not happy with all the changes at #GH. Love Michael Easton. To all those complaining about OLTL characters on GH, blame Prospect Park, They’re the ones who F’d everything up after ABC dumped their other soaps. Carlivati tried to make this debacle work, and if OLTL could have stayed in their original characters, it could have worked brilliantly Not his fault. I’m pissed he got fired

I will be sorry to see him go. Michaels unique talents were never fully used on General Hospital. I wish him well with his endeavors.

Please let it be a serial killer who takes several useless characters along the way.

That said, I like Michael Easton and wish him well. GH really does need a Dr. Paging Monica Quartermaine!

There would be a lot of killings!

Well maybe Resident Serial Killer, Franco, could go to town. I love Roger Howarth but making him Franco was the.worst.idea.ever! Ron Carlivati could be brilliant, but much like Tony Geary, his ego was his worst enemy and the fans suffered for it. A culling of the heard needs to happen. Although GH has a very talented cast, it is just too large and it makes the pacing of the show terrible. I’m sure most fans have a long list of “must-go’s” even if we don’t all agree on who must go.

Maybe he can return on recurring base back to days of our lives reboot where he played Tanner in the 1980’s along side Missy Reeves Jennifer Horton and Kasey Deprivea Eve Delvrraux .

Michael Easton is just sub par as an actor compared to the other shining examples of great acting done by the majority of the cast on GH. I am sad that Ron Carlivati is out as head writer on GH. Many of his stories were fun and paced nicely. I realize that he had favorites that he geared stories towards but overall he was a breath of fresh air for GH and it needed it. Any soap where I can see Maura West, Michelle Stafford, Billy Miller and all the other winners on GH has my complete devotion. In my opinion I wish they would drop the stories with the Spencers. I am glad Luke is gone. He is also one of the most OVERRATED actors on daytime. As a parody character in a YouTube series would say, “bitch, I just don’t see it!”…. I wish GH lots of success in the future, they are a hell of a show with a STELLAR cast.

I agree with you. GH has an awesome cast and they are the reason I enjoy the show so much. I’m over the Spencers as well but looking forward to seeing how their dynamic changes minus Tony. Easton really just never came to life in the role of Silas. I think he prefers the comic bookish character types. Either way he’s acting never stood out amongst all the bright stars on GH.

Mateo, I think Michael Eastman is good. I thought he made a better cop than he did a doctor and he was never given any decent material.
Also, if you want a good laugh and some kind of validation of your opinion of Geary’s acting prowess, check out The Soup/GH Fails Again.
It’s hilarious.

@HARRY your right… Michael made a far better cop, Mcbain and Anna
played off one another really well, both interesting, insightful & intelligent
imagine all that in one place the PCPD. When Ron C brought Michael &
Roger back after the PP debacle, he choose the wrong characters for them
to portray… Michael would have made a great Q. And Roger would have
been delicious as a Cassadine.

@Fanny,

I second the chemistry between McBain and Anna. That scene where they exposed Faison in the hotel room (McBain casually turned up the thermostat) was comedic genius!

Anna and McBain could have been HOT!

i am so upset about this – michael is a very good actor that was so underutilized at gh – what a waste of his talent…………….
i know he will land on his feet because he always does………………….

why is Ron Carlivati out as head writer? He was amazing when he took over for GH. Get with it. Michael Easton is a great actor as we saw from OLTL to GH. They used him a lot in the beginning. Now..Not so much. It seems that when the actors are no longer front and center, you see them fading. Now we have to watch the character of Kiki , who is not a good actress. Get Kristen Anderson back. This new actress has no substance. And who cares about getting the character of Christina back? Does anyone miss her! What bunk. I’m ready to stop watching. Michelle Stafford actually left the Y and Restless for the character of Nina? She should have stayed back there with Jack. It worked. Gina Tognini I’s too young for Jack and her character is dark. All she does is complain and bark like a detective. who is writing that junk? Get rid of Ava. If I have to look at that horrible facelift one more time, I will get sick.

I Love Michael Easton All I know is with Michael Easton leaving General Hospital has lost a viewer. I will never Ever watch General Hospital again.

GOODBYE!

Very upset to hear he’s leaving. From the minute he stepped foot in Port Charles he was placed on the back burner. They had Nina’s story, Baby Danny’s, Rafe’s, Ava’s. He was instrumental in saving, or trying to save, the day for them all. And then, nothing. He had no friends, no interaction other than with whomever needed his help…and then he disappeared. I thought perhaps they’d rekindle some attraction between him and Ava…there seemed to have been feeling there when he thought she was dying. Could have been with someone new. For some reason I could see him with a Britt type. Either way…a waste of an actor and yet another loss to OLTL fans who enjoyed seeing these actors. Kristen, Michael, Ron (which may or may not be a loss…time will tell) ..looks like one life has run out of its second. Fade to black…

Rebecca, I could not agree with you more.
After Michael had to re enter from stage left as “Silas” we had to endure this actor waxing poetic about his imaginary wife name “Nina.” He had been paired up with Sam and yet, poor Sam had to endure Silas sobbing and talking about this wonderful woman named Nina. We viewers were expected to care about a character we hadn’t even met yet while Michael was forced to emote about a character he hadn’t met!
What an impossible situation to put both Michael and the viewers in and of course we would fail to connect with Silas and later, Nina.
I said this before but when Silas babbled on and on about Nina, all I could think of was Big Bird talking about his imaginary friend Snuffelapulas.

Harry,,
Michael Easton was done as soon as they killed his McBain character on GH,,
ohh well, they kept him employed as Silas and Michael Easton then has less screen time and went on to write more novels and write and produce his movie, and that was very good for Michael..
I will miss him and hope to see him again, somewhere..

And for gawds sake all this constant bitching and negativity has grown as a disease in here..
It is overflowing the board, very unpleasant to see it, a constant thing..
((that was not at you Harry, I like ”bantering” ‘opinions’ with you..
I just needed to say that because this once cool fun bantering board has turned to crapazzes negativity, whining, complaining, bitching, and that sucks big time being it’s become near the norm….

It’s cool to bitch here and here but not constantly/ habitually ..

I completely agree with Rebecca and Harry! Michael is a gifted, nuanced actor with captivating screen presence. Silas came on strong with so much potential, but he suffered when his story was dominated by Nina and then Ava. He’s been completely isolated with little backstory and hardly any family, friends or integration on canvas. It seems that writers/show runners invested heavily on the return of Jason, and that caused them to lose sight of good writing not only for Silas, but other characters as well. So much of the show has been unbelievable and poorly executed.
Michael Easton is multi-talented. I hope it was his decision to leave and move on to better things. He deserves the very best.

Lol, Harry! The difference being Big Bird got to flap his wings on many a stage…poor Silas just fluttered into a wall, crashed and burned…

THAT IS HILARIOUS.

I thought writing Rafe off was a bad move. There could have been so much more there. I understand why they did it (I guess) but we’ve seen less of TJ & Molly since then. And I always felt they were trying to force Silas & Sam together b/c they use to play romantically involved characters. Didn’t seem well timed.

Yes, they forced him with Sam as Silas and as John and I was big on JaSam personally. But whatever. It’s been done now.

The writing quality on General Hospital has struggled to provide material that measures up to Mr. Easton’s incredible talent. I hate to see him go but I don’t blame him for wanting to leave the show. He has several projects going and many other promising opportunities that he is now free to give his full attention. All my best to Michael Easton. You have a fan for life.

make that two fans for life!

I HATED the character of Silas! Good luck to Michael Easton in his future endeavors though.

BINGO!

I agree with you. He is a brilliant actor, too bad he did not have a good role. It’s the fault of the director/writer

Big changes to come, rumor is Michelle Stafford is going to get fired and also Maura West as Ava.

Fire Michelle Stafford, her character is useless. Keep Maura West. I love Ava Jerome.

My fingers are crossed!

I really liked him on OLTL, however, as others have mentioned he didn’t get good writing on GH. I would see Franco/Nina exit and keep ME with some new material but I guess it’s too late for that. I just hope that RH and MS follow suit as soon as possible.

I think ME should have played the part of Franco and RH should have played Silas. That would’ve really mixed things up and made things interesting, but oh well. Wishing Michael all the best.

I’ve thought that too myself. ME seemed to enjoy playing vampires and villains so he might have been an interesting Franco. RoHo has hot chem with MS so he could have made the Silas/Nina story line work.

NOT AS GREAT AS HE IS/WAS AS A COP!!!!!!!

I’m very sorry to see him go, long time fan. Hopefully he’ll turn up somewhere and I will follow him there.

I HAVE LEARNED TO APPRECIATE THIS GOOD ACTOR…HE NEEDED A STORY…I THINK OF MANY THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OFF BEFORE HIM!!!!!!!! WOW..

I believe that this comment refers both to Michael Easton and Michelle Stafford. They are both more than capable of exploding their roles but the storylines they continue to receive are weak and boring. This should be a wake-up call to the head writers. I’m sorry that Silas is leaving and I hope Nina doesn’t follow suit. Nina is given the role of a weak character which is not where her talent lies. She was outstanding on the Y&R. I don’t want to have this soap canceled, so producers do your job and listen to the viewers.

I have always enjoyed Michael Easton whatever character he played he did it with class and grace. Most of GH’s talent is gone or leaving. The future of this Soap hangs in the balance. And it does not look too good.

I love Michael Easton! Liked Silas with Sam, but no storyline now. The writers Definitely did not use his talents! Would rather see Franco and others characters leave. Dr. Olbrecht can go and Silas could be Chief of Staff! Why do we viewers feel we could write better than GH writers at times?

I think he’s talented, and I’m glad he has several other things going for him. That said, this character never really worked. Especially when there were so many other under-used vets and missing characters. It will be interesting to see if he shows up later down the line on Days or YR, or if he’ll go in another direction.

Lately, hes been a snoozed. Throughout his scenes. When he is on , i FF SoRRy!!!. Goodluck

i will miss michael easton on gh . since tony geary has just retired to his home in holland, general hospital has lost a lot of star power and now they want to kill off michael’s dr. clay. does this mean his character of john mcbain will show up somewhere else on a different soap like young and the restless or days of our lives. that would be cool ,since melissa archer (natilie) is there.,can we buy his books somewhere. i would like too.
thanks for your talent…..michael easton, good luck to you.

melissa archer has already filmed her last scenes on days of our lives not sure when her last air date is…………….

I love Michael Easton, I loved him as McBain, but not Silas. Bringing Melissa Archer on as Nina would have certainly livened this character up, missed opportunity.

Hell yes it was a missed opportuniity! He does liven up with Melissa. He and Stafford were absolutely awful and awkward together.

Agreed Steph! The pairing with Stafford was so boring and passionless from the get go. It was incredibly strange. Michael looked so incredibly uncomfortable and Stafford was so damn over the top it made me cringe. Yes he and Monaco had chemistry in PC but Sam and Silas just flopped. Missed opportunity with Archer. As McBAIN and Natalie those two made it look effortless. Miss them so much.

I’ve always adored Michael Easton. He’s definitely been one of my favorites…I’m very sad that he’s leaving the show!!! To tell you the truth, I still can’t believe it. I loved Silas (though I agree that lately his character was put in boring/silly storylines) and I was hoping he and Sam (Kelly Monaco) would at some point reunite once more, loved the Siam romance… Michael is a brilliant actor that could always say so much in even just a gesture or a look. This is terrible news.

Will miss
Michael very much hope to see him in a new role how about a cop show

why is it that lately good actors are leaving general hospital that’s not a good thing we just beginning liking the actor and all of sudden there leaving . He is a good actor he should stay a gh.

While I adore Michael Easton, I wholeheartedly agree that his talents have been under utilized. I was NEVER a fan of Silas and Sam, so no love loss there. How I wish that Prospect Park wouldn’t have screwed up so bad with OLTL. I would love to see Michael land on a soap that will appreciate his many talents, perhaps maybe even reteam him with Melissa Archer. Either way, the character of Silas wasn’t getting a story. The writing was on the wall. It is so sad. I love Michael, and I, for one,, will FOLLOW him anywhere! Fans know your real worth Michael Easton!!

I second that good luck I hope they leave an opentire for you to come back

I’m going to miss Michael Easton. I have enjoyed watching him on Port Charles, One Life To Live and GH. Good luck to him in whatever he does next. Hope he shows up on one of the other soaps that is still around.

Maybe this is a well kept secret! Perhaps One Life To Live is getting ready to gear up…and as we speak Kristen is rehearsing Starr, Micharl’s polishing his McBain boots and Ron’s busy writing the script. If Roger follows…

Okay, not happening. Or is it?!? Hmmmmmmm….

I hope so – that would be so great but some of the other actors are now over to CBS and NBC soaps

It is too bad that the so called skilled writers couldn’t build a better story line around his fantastic doctoral skills and keep him. We love him and admire his versatility.

I absolutely HATE that Michael Easton is leaving GH. He truly is the only reason I even watch this show. I loved him as John McBain on OLTL, so when he moved over to GH, I followed. I can only hope that he’ll go back to Days since he has a history there.

Who knows — maybe he can be cast as Paige’s father???!!!! That would put him back in Kassie DePaiva’s orbit, and I’d really like that! No matter what, I just hope he lands on another soap. I’d hate to not see him on screen daily.

Love Michael but he is a tad bland. Pleaseeeeeeee take Kiki with you!!!!!

I’m sorry to see ME go, but the writing for Silas was abysmal. I cannot believe they are keeping Nina, Kiki and Ava but tossing Silas. What a waste of a fan favorite. I have always enjoyed ME’s work and wish him the very best in the future.

Thank God, Silas was a snore!

I am sorry to see ME go. He was under used on Gh like most of the actors over age 35. I am glad a new writing team is starting at GH. Maybe now the experienced good actors like Jane and Finola will get a good storyline. Duke is gone, Sean is gone, Luke is gone, now Silas! Pretty soon all male cast members will be under 25 at this rate! Not a good thing for the long time viewers. We deal with our own offspring that age we want to watch contemporaries that know how to act with a deceint script! I will be watching to see what ME does next.

I’m sad to see him go he’s a great actor they just don’t know what to do with him there could of been plenty of story line for him but I didn’t see any effort put into his new character it’s sad to lose a great actor I loved John McBain one life to live should of stayed on the air there’s not many soaps on no more oltl was a great soap better then dool it eon of been nice to see micheal at his best with a great story line I’m sure if they really tried he could of been a good character on general hospital with plenty of story lines

Loved Mcbain..Silas never clicked with
Me but I blame the writers for that.
Met Michael Easton at SSW and he was
So kind and wonderful to the fans..
I wish him much luck and will miss him.
Sorry to see him go…can he take Kiki?!

LOVE Michael Easton, he is a great talented man, author, actor, etc… and it is not his fault they gave him crap to work with. He has beautiful eyes, and smile, and he can act if they would give him some good material. There probably will be more to go, he sure is better than some of the actors I have seen on this show. I am really getting bored with General Hospital, and may move on to Days of our lives. Just my opinion.
Good Luck Mr. Easton on your next chapter!

Robin, Michael Easton is a very talented actor, and you’re right in saying he has great and beautiful eyes and smile. I loved when his face lightened up, because he’s truly very handsome, has great presence. Please move over to Days of Our Lives, it’s become my favorite soap of 2015, and it’s just about to get even better with the 50th anniversary approaching. It’s definitely worth checking out. I make DAYS a priority when I view the soaps on hulu. GH used to be my first go to soap to watch. Anyways, Michael Easton will be greatly missed on GH, it’s a shame that he wasn’t given proper storylines.
And for me, out of the 3 actors, Kristen, Roger and Michael, when they all were to play new characters, at the time, Silas was the most interesting character who was developed out of the three. Silas had great potential unfortunately, the writers focused on other characters.
Micheal Easton was wasted on GH as Silas. I wish the new writing team could have remedied Silas’s character development and given him some worthy material to showcase his great talents. He’s really just that good. Now, give DAYS a shot! 🙂

will definitely miss Michael Easton but not the character of Dr. Silas – unfortunately the writers did him a dis-service–not only to a wonderful actor, with a great scowl, but to the profession of oncology – NO oncologist would do what he did – the storyline belittled cancer suffering and recovery and the doctors who commit themselves to life saving techniques that do not include kidnapping. Wishing Michael well – would love to have seen a re-kindling of a relationship with Nina and Silas; they have chemistry and would have been worth a storyline

This news is not surprising at all. The cast is too bloated, and Silas is one of the most expendable characters. He has very few (important) ties to the canvas, he’s had little in the way of story for the past several months, other than reviving Ava, and his new persona never really clicked the way John McBain did.

It would have been really nice to see Silas’ character fleshed out more, and showcase more story around the hospital. There were many ways to incorporate his character in story, but after his romance with Sam, its almost as if the writers forgot about him. I was hoping to see the new writers create more story for him, but writing the Silas out may be the better route to take.

Since his exit is said to be dramatic, I wouldn’t be surprised if Ava kills Silas to ensure no one finds out about her secret – and then follows it up by offing Franco for safety.

Michael is a good actor, and I really enjoyed he chemistry he had with Melissa Archer. I was really hoping GH would hire MA as Sarah Webber, and pair her with Silas. The story practically writes itself since they both work at the hospital.

Here’s to hoping the departures don’t end here, and the next ones to go are Nathan, Valerie, Sabrina and Kiki. Trim the fat, create new stories.

Hiring Melissa was what many were hoping for. At this point both are available. Come on soap gods can we see these two actors work together again? Easton lights up with Archer. Wasted effort on GH !

It was as obvious as day that ME was going to be paired with KM at any cost: Destruction of Jasam, Jolie and out of character behavior for all involved. Then comes the new character after PP fiasco and once again isolation of Sam to prop SILAS. Enter MS awkward as hell. Enter MW same thing. Does it need to be spelled out any more clearly? Archer and Easton for the win!

Let me make something clear, I adore Michael Easton. I have known his work prior to him joining the ABC soaps. He had two series that he led; they didn’t last but that speaks to the kind of faith in his talent that was seen long ago. I loved many of his roles including his brief stints such as Ally McBeal’s fling back in the 90s. His leading role on Total Recall and Two. Many loved him as Tanner on Days; but he’s had other roles; he’s a well seasoned and gifted actor. Vampires were never my thing but John McBain is by far his most popular role and I watched him for his entire duration on OLTL. But at the same time, writers can’t always rise above the material. We loved McBain for years and he was written out of character on GH. Sure his old fans stuck with him and he got some new ones but the character of John McBain had been altered. I am not saying this out of hate for Sam McCall, as I said, I really enjoyed JaSam. But it was not necessary to undermine his loyalty; change a key piece of the integrity of his father and there was just no way the original John McBain would choose vengeance over his son or the woman he loved. If anything, he would take them with him. And not even fighting to get his son back? That stuff with Clint was so poorly contrived; John owned a bar in Llanview; he didn’t have any assets to try to fight? Well that was just all written away because as Marissa said, it was obvious that he would paired with Sam at all cost. And no, I don’t blame Prospect Park at all, Their intentions were good. They leased John, Todd, and Starr for 1 year in anticipation of revamping the show. ABC went back on the deal and that is when the drama started. The OLers were not written as though they were on canvas temporarily; they were written to be permanent in Port Charles and they signed both ME and KA to 3 year contracts KNOWING that Prospect Park always intended to restart the show. Sure it wasn’t a good reboot; I hated it personally. It was a shadow of its former self but they didn’t have much to work with. But at least they tried. I blame RC and FV for all of it in the end. But my feelings don’t matter; it doesn’t seem that any of the fans matter because it took 3 years for them to get rid of RC after he screwed up GH as well.

I agree with Anacarrie above. It was almost painful to watch the destruction of McBaiin’s integrity as well as his father’s. All the while thinking that we would ultimately get a Jolie reunion which never happened on GH or the reboot of OLTL. A big slap in the face to the loyal fans of several years. I personally wish ME well and sincerely hope he gets a role he is deserving of and that we get to see him work with MA again and witness their amazing chemistry!

I have grown tired of Amelia Heinle (as much as I love her) as Victoria.

I say hire Easton and Archer as a recast Billy and Victoria. I can dream can’t I?

Nancy Lee Grahn’s Star-Studded ALS Fundraiser Reveals “I’ll Be There” Video Featuring Soap Opera Notables

Talk about your impressive line-up! It’s a soap fans dream and for a great cause. General Hospital’s Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) is prepping her one-night only ALS fundraiser which will feature many of her friends and co-stars.

The benefit is set for May 4th in Glendale, California. Slated to participate are Genie Francis, Jane Elliot, Peter Bergman, Maurice Benard, Eileen Davidson, Thorsten Kaye, Michelle Stafford, Stephen Nichols, Rena Sofer, Jason Thompson, Kelly Monaco, Melissa Claire Egan, Maura West, Kristina Wagner, Gregory Harrison, Trevor St. John, Kate Mansi, Kirsten Storms, Cynthia Watros, and many others.

On Wednesday, Grahn took to her social media and released an “I’ll be there” video shout-out featuring, Monaco, Elliot, Bergman, Bernard, West, Harrison, St. John and more. In a touching and important moment in the new video, Michelle Strogny, who is battling ALS, is featured.

Photo: ABC

Previously, in speaking with Soap Opera Digest on the impetus of the event, Grahn recalled, “I was actually doing Zoom events during Covid and I met this woman that I just fell in love with, Michelle Strojny. At the time, Michelle had been living with ALS for four years. Now, it’s five years. She is a mom of a teenage son, she has the most wonderful husband, and she has been dealing with this [disease] for quite a while. And obviously, there isn’t a cure yet. It’s not survivable yet. But as she says, it’s not incurable. Nothing is; it’s underfunded. But anyway, I just really dug this woman. She is so grounded and filled with grace, and she spends all of her time working to raise money for the cause. We did a fundraiser for her last year and then I thought, ‘You know what? The soaps don’t ever get together to do something for charity.’ Collectively, we have this amazing community and we don’t collectively use it for a good cause, and I think it’s such an easy thing for us to do and we could potentially really make a difference.”

As GH viewers know, Gregory Harrison is playing the character of Gregory Chase, who is also battling ALS in a touching storyline that is currently playing out shedding a light on this disease.

For information on Nancy’s event, including the stars who are s scheduled to participate click here. To purchase tickets to the event click here.

Check out the video featuring Nancy’s friends and co-stars below.  Now let us know, your thought son the line-up for the benefit and helping raise awareness and funds for ALS research via the comment section.

‘General Hospital’ Writer Shannon Peace Let Go, and Shares on Sprina: “One of My Only Regrets is to Not Have the Opportunity to Develop That ‘Ship’ Further”

As General Hospital’s new head writing team of Elizabeth Korte and Patrick Mulcahy gets off the ground and running, there are still changes a foot on the writing team.

Now comes word via breakdown writer Shannon Peace that she is no longer on contract with the long-running ABC soap heading into its 61st season. Peace shared a heartfelt message on her Instagram, thanking the fans, and the show for the opportunity and the importance of diversity in the writers room.

Peace began, “After almost 3 years on staff and 106 episodes penned, I am no longer on contract with General Hospital. Writing for this country’s longest running television serial drama has been an education of epic proportions; I will forever be grateful that I earned my WGA card on a daytime fixture that holds memories for so many.” (Peace pictured below with GH EP Frank Valentini and script writer, Charlotte Gibson from about ten months ago).

Shannon added “Even more importantly, as the sole Black breakdown writer (and only POC in the writers room) during my tenure, I pushed for vital interactions and discussions that prioritized inclusion, visibility, and representation”

The writer pointed to the example of vital interaction when in story, “Stella and Portia’s frank July 2022 conversation about the role race played in Esme’s framing of Trina is just one example of the impact I’m gratified to have had.”

Acknowledging former GH co-head writers was also part of Peace’s farewell expressing, “Appreciation to my former bosses, Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor – not only taking a chance on me, but for valuing my opinion and championing my voice.”

Many GH fans know that Peace was key to the development of the love story between Trina Robinson and Spencer Cassadine as played by Tabyana Ali and Nicholas Chavez. Shannon gave a special shout-out to ‘Sprina’ fans, “I also want to thank fans who were supportive of my work, especially the recognition of my love for ‘Sprina’. One of my only regrets is not having to develop that ‘ship’ further.”

She concludes her statement with,”In the aftermath of a historic writer’s strike that shed new light on the troubling ways writers are regarded in daytime, my sincere hope is that General Hospital recommits to valuing staff writer efforts and input, with a more intentional focus on diverse viewpoints — and thrives for another 60 years.”

Accompanying her post, Shannon added, “Thank you all for the love and support these last few years. I hope GH fans get all they hope for and more!”

So, what do you think about GH not renewing Shannon’s contract? Will there be more continued changes afoot? What do you think is the future of ‘Sprina’ anyway at this point as viewers wait to see if Nicholas Chavez officially returns to the show?  Comment below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Learns Britt Died and Tells Anna He Has Been Working For Cates Since November 2021

On the Tuesday, March 26th of General Hospital, Anna (Finola Hughes) and the viewers learn about where Jason (Steve Burton) has been for over two and half years. However, Jason gets some news of his own.

Anna is visiting Jason at the PCPD interrogation room. She asks him if he shot Dante (Dominic Zamprogna), which he flatly denies. Anna believes him, but she tells Jason it doesn’t matter, because video footage shows him on the roof at the time of the shooting

When talk turns to Jason not willing to speak without his lawyer present, Anna can’t grasp why Jason would instead spend an hour alone talking with John Cates (Adam J. Harrington).

Photo: ABC

It is then that Anna brings up that John went by “Jagger” and that the two of them knew each other in high school. Jason doesn’t recall much of his time in high school following his brain injury, but then he gets furious realizing John knew about “Jason’s” past. That is when Jason slams the table and tells Anna, “I’ve been working for John Cates since November 2021.”

Next, Jason explains further that he has been working as an informant for the FBI. Anna wants to know how this came about and he tells her that after the tunnel collapsed, and he couldn’t make it to Britt (Kelly Thiebaud)… all of a sudden he sees Anna’s face drop.  Anna is the first person to tell him that Britt died and was murdered. She tells Jason the killer is in custody, but he continues to be shocked, overwhelmed with tears welling up in his eyes. Realizing he has to pivot to save his life, Jason continues telling Anna how he wound up working with John.

Jason explains that after the tunnel collapse in Greece, FBI agents grabbed him and placed him under arrest and took him to Quantico where he met John. At Quantico, John played a recording of RICO violations and offered Jason a deal if he agreed to be an informant against Pikeman, the illegal arms dealer.

Anna hears from Jason that he thinks Pikeman is selling illegal arms to anyone flagged by the NSA but has ties to the WSB which they needed a civilian to infiltrate their organization as a military soldier, a mercenary.

Jason tells Anna he was a part of the team brought into eliminate Sonny (Maurice Benard). Every time an attempt was made on Sonny’s life over the last two years, a different team was sent to do the job. Anna gets furious when she learns that John told Jason his job was to kill Sonny and she was with John at the warehouse that night. Jason ensured the sniper missed Sonny and left the rifle behind. However, they were supposed to meet an extraction team. Before he was shot, Dante saw it was Jason on the roof and when he turned around with his hands over his head, Dante was shot by the other guy. Jason says if Dante dies, he’ll be charged with capital murder and then will be useless to the FBI.

Photo: ABC

Meanwhile, John visits Bobbie’s and runs into Carly (Laura Wright). She learns Jason is in custody and is going to head to the PCPD. Before she does, Carly has some words with Cates when she learns not only does John have a vendetta against Sonny, but Jason too.  Carly tells John he should recuse himself from the case.

So, what did you think about the moment when Jason learned Britt died? What do you think of Jason’s return storyline thus far and what we learned about Jagger/Jason and more? Comment below. But first, check out a moment from today’s GH with Jason and Anna.
