Saturday is World Cancer Day, and on this day when all of us can join forces to make a difference in the battle against this disease, but two soap stars shared some personal news and messages that will mean so much to their colleagues and their legions of fans.

First, the beloved Kassie DePaiva (Ex-Blair, OLTL and Eve, DAYS) took to Twitter to share some wonderful news: “Today is #WorldCancerDay and I’m grateful I can say I am cancer free. To all of you who battle cancer…fight on! Trust the journey!”  DePaiva had revealed back in August 2016  on her website that she has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Second, Kristen Alderson, (who played Kassie’s daughter Starr Manning on OLT:, before moving over to GH to eventually become the role of Kiki) shared how proud she was of her brother Eddie Alderson (Ex-Matthew, OLTL) who has been undergoing chemo for Hodgkins Lymphoma via her Instagram account.

On World Cancer Day Kristen expressed: “On November 11th my family and I heard the word no one ever wants to hear. I always had great compassion when I heard that someone was suffering with Cancer, but you truly don’t know the feeling until it hits you or your family. Being with my brother @eddiealderson every step through his journey has been and continues to be the biggest honor. I have learned sooo much. It has been the most terrifying, yet insanely inspiring experience we’ve ever faced. My prayers, love, sympathy, amazement, and awe goes out to anyone that has or has ever had cancer or has a loved one with cancer. We are all in this together.”

Please send your well-wishes to Kassie, and Kristen and Eddie in the comment section below!

Dear Kassie,

I am so happy to hear the news that you are Cancer free!!!! Thank God and God bless you; that is the best news that I have heard this year. Thank God; you must have great faith to go through this and come out Cancer free!!!!!!! 🙂 I am hoping to see you back on T.V. soon; maybe you can come to General Hospital.

Take good care,

Love,

Catherine Climpson

Dear Eddie,

I just want you to know that I am praying for God to heal you completely. You are young and strong and I am sure that you will be healed. I loved you on One Life to Live, and hope to see you on another soap; maybe General Hospital.

Take good care,

God bless you,

Catherine Climpson

Dear Kassie:

This is such tremendous news..i have been praying and wish you all the best to you and Eddie too. ..He may have a long journey but he has family and you PLUS so many gans.praying.for him too. Just like we were for you. I have M.S. and believe me having friends and family truly does help a lot.

Congratulations Kassie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I knew you and your beautiful family would make it through. As always, you remain in my prayers.

After watching Kristen and Eddie grow up before our eyes on One Life to Live, I feel like you are my children. Constant prayers and healing energy go out to you Eddie. Stay strong. You too will beat this.

Cassie you’ve always been one of my favorites. I am so happy for that you have been able to work your way back to good health. On a personal note you good news means even more to me today. I have been out of commission with some rare, exotic ailment that just popped up a couple of weeks ago. It been emergency to a current hospital stay. Having no tv or iPad (until) yesterday to hear the news let me think a lot. Only thing I want to say on this story (and I’m sure Cassie and Kristin would agree), thank our lucky stars for the angels in the health care system that get us through these things from doctors, nurses to cleaning staff…of all racial and ethnic backgrounds.

On another note, everyone deserves being able to get decent health care, and curses on those who are fighting it. And those worried about “the others” should understand many are making great contributions to the UNITED States, not just a nation some seem to want to be one tribe.

PS…should have said “decent, affordable healthcare.”

My best wishes for both of these fine actors. I didnt know about their illnesses. God Bless!

my ❤ n support n

I am so thankful that Kassie is cancer free. I was surprised to read about Eddie, he is so young. I was 35 when I had kidney cancer and I remember nurses, etc. saying that same thing to me, that I was so young. I guess it is good to remember that cancer can hit you at any age. What a wonderful sister you are, Kristen to your brother! Miss seeing all of you! Am still upset every time I see “The Talk” come on ABC at 2:00 p.m. I just have to turn the tv off! God Bless you all!

My ten year anniversary of being cancer free is less than a month away. I think it was harder on my family then it was on me.

To all who are healing and their families and loved ones, I wish you a speedy and full recovery.

This is such great news to hear about Cassie. I was just looking her up yesterday and hoping to hear something about how she was doing. Sending prayers for continued success. Also sending Eddie prayers to beat this and have strength.

God Bless Kassie, I am so happy for you. Prayers for Eddie

Much Love to you Kassie, and to Eddie! Great news! Cancer has hit my family hard, lost many loved ones to that beast. Keep on Rockin’ and get well soon Eddie Alderson! Love to you all!

Dear Eddie, Kristen. Eddie I know that you can beat this awful disease. I say that only because I’ve had two different kinds of cancer and with the grace of God I’m hear on this side of the grass. You are many yrs younger than me. I will pray for you . God Bless and i’d love to hear about your progress.

I am so happy to hear you are now cancer free Cassie. I am praying for you Eddie to also win your battle of cancer.

Congratulations Kassie DePaiva! This is excellent news, after losing a sister to the dreaded disease two months ago. Early detection is so important.

My uncle had leukemia in 1996 and was the only guy out of 4 other guys who survived his bone marrow transplant. On December 9, 2009 my Uncle Chris lost his battle with oral cancer. He had Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma.

Great news, Kassie! Eddie, I hope you beat cancer very soon and I am so glad that you have such a caring sister to support you. Eddie, I especially loved the Thanksgiving OLTL episode that you narrated.

That’s wonderful, wonderful news for the terrific KdP – such a class act, always. And the same for Matthew Alderson, my heartfelt wishes that everything turns out okay for him.

Wonderful folks, all around.

I’m thrilled that you are cancer free, Kassie. You’ve been in my thoughts since I learned of your diaignosis. Would love to hear you sing in person again and definitely on TV!

Wishing the best for you, Eddie.

All the best. Wishing the best for all in their fight against this deadly disease. Keep the faith.

Great news about Kassie (and I’m wishing Eddie Alderson all the best for his recovery). I hope that one of the first things Ron does as DOOL’s new HW is bring her (and Eve) back to Salem.

As all others have said. Only good thoughts and prayers go out to any and all who have or are battling cancer. We out here are wishing only the best for all of you. .keep fighting.

Well wishes are not enough for me. I am going to pray.
Dear Lord Jesus we come before your courts with thanksgiving and praise.

We lift up Eddie Alderson to you today. We know that your word says the very hairs on his head are numbered and known by you. We also know that you have known him before the foundation of the world.

His cancer diagnosis was a shock to him and his family. But you know all things and you made a provision for him and the healing of his mortal physical body by the stripes beaten on your back before you made the long walk to Calvary’s cross where you gave your life for Eddie and us all.

By your sovereign will and the authority of your name we ask that you would show Eddie your provision for his healing. We ask that your Holy Spirit would touch him from his flesh to the inner most core of his being. In the name of Jesus we take authority over the spirit of death which we call cancer. We know that all things are subject to your name and limitless authority. We command it to flee and for his health to be restored that he may give you the praise and glory to which you are entitled if it be your will Lord Jesus.
By your spirit we ask that you bring comfort to his sister his parents his friends and his millions of fans as we keep vigil over him during this painful journey.
We know that you are the comforter the prince of peace and the mighty God.
Bring the peace that passes all understanding to Eddie and his loved ones today.

In the eternally powerful limitlessly- loving and spotlessly righteous name of Jesus Christ the Lord of all we pray.Amen.

God bless Eddie, his family and his fans!

So glad Kassie is healthy. Believers out there please lets agree in prayer for Eddie. He is a very special guy. God bless him, his family and fans.

Keep the faith in God and the wonderful brilliant research ers that one day the word cancer will no longer exist, God bless all of you.

Prayers to all, God bless

What can I say that hasn’t been said already. Prayers go out to all of you and your families. Stay strong and positive! !!!

Wonderful news! When she feels up to it I hope to see her back on Days and/or GH again!

And prayers to Matthew too!!!

So happy for you, Kassie…love you; miss you and God Bless.
The same goes for you, Eddie. Stay strong!!!! Believe!!!!

I am glad to hear she is doing better – treatments have improved dramatically over the years for this illness.

So happy to hear of Kassie’s good news! Today’s medicine is amazing! And to Eddie – Hang in there kiddo – you are young and strong and will be fine!

God Bless you Cassie.I think of you all the time my prayers and thoughts are with you.

This week, DAYS head scribe, Ron Carlivati, confirmed that, and told Michael Fairman TV on the decision of the scripts the team submitted: “I like to have some humor, but it was also the funeral, and then there was Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) giving birth, and then Vivian’s (Louise Sorel) crashing the reading of the will.”
