General Hospital
REPORT: GH and Rebecca Herbst Close To New Deal!
The fan outcry regarding one of General Hospital’s most popular actresses, Rebecca Herbst (Elizaabeth) may have been heard loud and clear by the ABC brass.
According to Daytime Confidential’s Jamey Giddens, he has been hearing from multiple sources that Becky is this close to reaching a new deal to continue in her role as the beloved Liz Webber.
Last month, the outlet reported that negotiations for a new deal with Herbst hit a rough patch. That started many rumors circulating that Rebecca could be on her way to DAYS as the new Abigail replacing the already departed Kate Mansi.
However, earlier this week DAYS has put out another casting call for thsat role. So coupled with this report, could it be that we are just a moment away from everyone signing on the dotted line for Rebecca to stay in Port Charles? The report from DC today relates an official annoucement may be forthcoming.
So if the report holds, will you be happy to know Rebecca is staying put at GH? If she continues on, as it looks like will happen, who do you hope Liz’s love interest will be? Comment below!

Y&R’s Hayley Erin Previews Her Role in Horror-Thriller ‘New Life’
Yes, very happy. No one else could play Liz.
As far as a recast as Abby at Days? Abby is supposed to be only a couple of years out of College. Would not work, as Rebecca does not look in her twenties.
TPTB are preparing a brand new script for Liz…..as a mother of teens and a tween. Possibly a new love story?
Yeayyyyy!! Kudos, Becky!
Yippee Liz may stay
She should go to days if things with gh don’t work out shed be so much better than the the old abigail
BH is to old to play Abilgail and they probably fire her ass anyway, they don’t play with the rebovoting and the lying! How any would want her to stay is beyond me.So that 100,000 strong she claimed with her few fans rebovoting, they do it all the time!I just hope GH survive, because I can see fans again toning out GH!
You have it backwards, mark. Abby is the young one. LOL.
It would be nice for her to stay at GH and then they could reform her character back to what it used to be. She even said herself she had a hard time reconciling Liz’s actions this past year. And I like her with Franco, The look on her face is priceless when she can’t believe she likes being near him.
I totally agree. She has such talent (and doesn’t go over the top). They should appreciate her great acting on that storyline and others.
Please let this be true and an announcement made ASAP I’m a big fan and GH can’t let her slip away they just can’t.!
I can only wish Rebecca Herbst the best, but I must admit I was glad to see Her character gone from GH.
Nope I think all the shanagans over this contract and her medicine acting should’ve been enough to let her go. she does not have as many fans as some say. I know more that don’t care for her than do! There was no big outcry I watch social media sites daily and cross paths with more fans than the average person and aside from the same bunch of fans on every page and tweet there was no big outcry. I was actually shocked there was not more. Petitions were very small. She is no big deal but wants to be. I will no longer view the show daily if she stays. I just can’t stand the character or the actress. I don’t recall other soap actors not even ones that are a lot better than she is making such a public fuss over their contract. Her husband is an idiot too. Yet again they caused a big commotion causing her fans to call for NV and FV heads on a platter and they gorture everyone else too. Her fans are insane I can’t take it and I won’t waste another minute on this crap. I’ve watched for nearly 40 yrs. I never liked this character or the actress. I think she’s very limited. I was hoping this new regime at GH was a little bit smarter.
I could care less who she ends up with. Who ever it is they are doomed though. Good luck and good riddance to GH
You aren’t that bright, are you? First of all – Medicine Acting? Don’t blame it on Auto Correct, it would only correct if your original spelling was wrong anyway. It had to search for something that looked remotely right.
The reports are pretty clear that it was the fan support that forced the brass to take another look. Despite your petty denials, it’s obvious that she does have a lot of fans.
Even the haters love her – look at you spending all this time on a veritable paragraph of disappointment. That’s a whole lot of investment for a character you dislike so intensely. 😉
In defense of anonymous, there are plenty of times I and many others post comments with completely non-intentional words…and there’s no edit button so…
I just think anonymous was venting rather quickly and thus “mediocre” came out as “medicine.” No biggie…
I am not saying you are a major Sam fan, but most Sam fans want her gone. She is great for trouble making. If not, she wouldn’t have so many people talking about her good or bad.
Work on your reading skills. ABC brass, not GH brass, couldn’t ignore the outcry from her fans. If the network itself became involved — which is what DC’s sources and Jamey Giddens are reporting — she obviously has huge fan support, so huge that the network could not ignore it. Clearly the network took control of this situation, as GH’s producing team were not responsive to fans. When the network gets involved, IT IS A BIG DEAL.
I don’t know what social media you watch, but on Twitter there was an actual #keepBeckyGH movement, so I think you have your facts wrong. Also five years ago they wanted to write Liz out and the outcry was so severe she was resigned. She’s one of the best actresses they have on there, totally understated like some have responded. An asset for sure.
I never ever ever go on ‘social media sites’, so I cannot rely on it or you, Anonymous…. with all due respect. I am not even on Facebook , nor do I tweet. To me? That is a waste of time and cr@p, not watching GH.
Pity you feel the way you do, but Rebecca deserves an Emmy. I found what Liz did to Jason and everyone linked to him very distasteful. But, the other side of the coin only tells me what a superlative actress she is for having drawn those feeling out of the viewer.
I hope she’s here to stay….especially if she is to be mother to teen boys. Miss Lizzie will be faced with a challenge. Should be interesting, to say the least.
I can see why you are anonymous since you hide when you name call. Secondly, you are another one of these “Fans” who tune out because of ONE character? BYE!
The above should read “mediocre” acting skills, not “medicine” lol autocorrect ugh
I would be thrilled if Rebecca stayed with GH! She is a treasure. Smart move by anyone involved to keep her on the show. They don’t have any other actress in her age-range who can emote all that she can. Plus, she has history with the show and is a sole link to Hardy family. I hope everything works out okay.
I’VE ALWAYS LOVED REBECCA AND ALWAYS WILL. I DO HOPE THAT SHE REMAINS ON GH AS SHE IS A WONDERFUL PERSON, ACTRESS, AND DOES HER LIZ SO PERFECTLY THAT SOMETIMES WE FORGET THAT IT’S JUST A CHARACTER’S NAME. I AM PRAYING THAT SHE’LL REMAIN ON GH AND NOT ANOTHER PERSON TAKING HER PLACE AS LIZ, NO WAY, NO ONE COULD TAKE HER PLACE JUST LIKE A FEW LADIES ON GH I FEEL THE SAME. THE WOMAN ARE GOD’S PERFECT LADIES BEING THERE AS THERE SELF FOR YEARS. I ALSO FEEL THAT TRACEY IS DRIVING ME NUTS. I LOVE HER AND HOPE SHE REMAINS STAYING ON GH TOO. THANKS FOR HEREING ME OUT.
Yeaaaa i am will be happy if RH stays on GH
I want her with Marc C the new Dr.
I could take her or leave her. I believe it was more of a publicity mover for GH in which I have no problem with.
Why wasnt our outcry to sign Tristan Roberts to a contract answered!
TR is way past the 18 to 49 demo, so I don’t see ABC/D/GH giving him a contract when you have a popular 18 year vet like BH who is only 38.
BUT, Tristan is loved by ALL ages!
I will be thrilled if Becky and, by extension, Liz stays but I am concerned that they were so ready to lose her and the GH brass may not capitalize on her massive popularity! I want Liz front burner and driving stories whether in a romance or not! She has proven that she can deliver and gets people talking like no one else. I hope she gets more family on screen, investigates Jake’s history, and gets to be in a romance – not an unbalanced triangle!
Happy days. She’s from a core family and is essential to keeping the hospital stories alive. Would love getting be paired with Griffin! How jealous would Jason be?
I agree that Jason and Liz will not be a couple but will always have a connection – he really loves her but is in love with Sam. He can’t help himself.
I am completely – over – Jason and Liz… he’s NOT good enough for her
Sam and Jason are so boring… stay that way
Jason and Carly are so boring… stay that way
Jason and Sonny are so boring… stay that way
come to think of it… ??? OK… i’ll relent… he’s got the most to gain by getting to know… Monica… his Aunt Tracy… even Dillan. BAM!
what IRKS me… is ; how quickly he fell in love…. with Sam
even Liz remarked to him as such
WHATEVER !!!! boring!
our little miss sleuth Sam… once again get’s it so easy in in her Nancy Drew Antics… that she’s handed clues and what not… LOL… it’s just laughable watching her character maneuver herself in Port Charles… she has no gusto; no fire; no palpitations ; there’s nothing fantastical about Sam
anyway: i’d rather Nicholas and Sam be wary and just not in to each other at all. it was so lame Nicholas having Sam…. investigate “Rachel” and then ask her to forget about it.
Rebecca Herbst is back… on contract ! waiting to celebrate this
Liz smolders with Griffin Munro
Liz smolders with Franco
Liz does not, need; Jason
Great news! Yay for the fans!
She would be foolish to leave. Be grateful you have a job in such a competitive business. I’m sure she’s making a lot more $$$$$ than most of us.
I’m thrilled to hear this. I see both Rebecca Herbst and Elizabeth as the heart of the show. I hope the incessant apologies Elizabeth is being made to say are over and that the story will move on. Herbst is a fantastic actress and can do any kind of story. Her emotional range and depth of nuance are terrific and she’s an asset to the show.
Rebecca Herbst is way too good an actress for DAYS. I am glad she is working it out with GH. No one else could do what Rebecca has done for the character of Elizabeth. YAY!!!!
I got a kick over some going bonkers over Rebeca negotiating a contract..
contracts are usually about negotiating the deal..
Rebecca Herbst is going nowhere, she never was leaving, she will grow old on GH, like Jane/Tracy..
Sorry I am not a Liz fan. I was hoping we would finally be rid of her. Very disappointed to say the least.
Nope, BH is here to,,,stay!
If Steve Burton can be replaced so can Becky, wouldn’t bother me a bit if she left. I have hated Liz for years and wouldn’t miss the character at all if she left
I have only been a GH ‘watcher’ for less than 2 years. So many conflicting opinions about Liz. I know I did despise her actions, but not to the point of wishing her gone. I am truly trying to understand if she is not liked by some for the same reason; or does Miss Lizzie have the reputation of being a back stabber. Was she always a baddie?
I just assumed that her love for Jason hindered her integrity and blinded her to do the right thing, temporarily.
She does seem to have closed that book, though, yes? ….and, to be on the right path now.
I just think she is an exceptionally talented actress and a core member of the GH family. That alone counts for something, no?
Liz always seemed to be one who talks out of both sides of her mouth but I personaly dont dislike her. Either way for me but if they would have done a recast it would have been another 3 ring circus on the boards!
Elizabeth’s recent trashing story was OCC per the actress, and BH knows HER character after being on the show for 18 1/2 years!
Great news. She has become a favorite of mine and I sincerely appreciate her superb work. Also, as Roger Howarth is my favorite actor, I am loving their scenes and they have demonstrated tremendous chemistry. I hope that their current friendship evolves into a romance–putting Franco is the middle of a torrid triangle with Liz and Nina fighting over him. I have even seen some online already dubbing this potential couple as “Friz!!”
Congratulations to both Rebecca Herbst and ABC in working out the new contract. General Hospital definitely would not be the same without her beauty and talent. And, I rejoice that she won’t be stuck on a horrible show like DAYS which I rarely watch anymore.
I don’t know if this is on the horizon…. on the cover of the latest SOD issue… (soap opera digest) there’s a picture, of; Julian, Alexis, and Nina… I’m not sure… of the caption… but I certainly took it to mean… that Nina is going to become very much INOLVED with Julian… (which is as I had hoped ) as she and Julian go head to head… with whatever means necessary to wrest control and live a little… For Crimson and ahem… his jewels…. Yumbo
which thereby frees my man… RH’ Franco to forge ahead with my oh so lovely Liz….
YES !
Alexis big production of a wedding… didn’t last long… her white wedding dress is a bust… LOL… fine by me… as Julian was wasted
on another note… I HOPE Kristina is in fact a lesbian… although… Ashley Parker is a dream cast hire… she CAN ACT ! lovely woman
there’s a lot of potential stirring in Port Charles…. dang it ! if it isn’t nice
ie: Ashley Parker…. is Ashley Jones
OHO, Patrick, my man. This I ‘gotta’ see. I hope it’s true. Stick it to Alexis, Nina!!
How about that Franco, Patrick? He seems to like the scent of some other skirt. So, I hope he gets his too, if he hurts Nina.
Glad she is staying. Th Liz-Jason-Sam storyline has been the best role for her in a long time.
Hoping for her and Nicholas to rekindle the flame
Wow, rekindle the flame with Nik? They were once an item? That’s something else I did not know, Carol. LOL.
I remember her debut, those achingly beautiful and tender scenes with Lucky. I have always felt Herbst is the most underrated actress in Daytime. GH is smart for keeping her!
Happy for Becky. Just hope she is finally given some “HAPPY” time…
BRING BACK LUCKY (JJ) FOR LIZ THEY WILL ALWAYS BE MY FAVORITE COUPLE!!!!!!!
I can see JJ coming back to GH for a few episodes, but the dude is on a primetime show! If Nashville goes off the air, I can see JJ looking for another primetime show.
