REPORT: Michael E. Knight Done at The Young and the Restless!

More changes at The Young and the Restless and this one comes about longtime All My Children fan favorite, Michael E. Knight (Ex-Tad Martin).
According to a tweet Friday morning from Michael Logan of TV Guide/TV Insider, Knight will complete his run as Dr. Simon Neville after a few more episodes.
Logan related: “More #YR news: Three time Emmy winner Michael E. Knight out as Dr. Simon Neville after a few more eps. Decision made before EP switch.”
While Knight’s Simon was put in a storyline with another Daytime Emmy winner, Eileen Davidson (Ashley), seems the show may be going in another direction. Thus far, the CBS Daytime drama has made no announcement or confirmation on Knight’s departure.

Jiim, Dr Neville was funny as heck. And he didn’t fit in with Y&R because he was never given a chance. They have him in isolation tending to a comatose Hillary in Neil’s boathouse. He could have fitted in–he is an amazingly talented actor who rose above the crap that was thrown at him

Sad to hear that . I am 57 years old .I watched All my Children from day one . I would love for them to put it on from the 1st day.I thank a lot of fans would watch .or some how let the fans by them .
Maybe “Dr. Cliff Warner” recommended he should rest.
Enjoyed him for years on AMC, but he just never caught on with Y&R. He might have stood a better chance if they had kept Cady McClain and paired Simon with Kelly. Both of them might still be on the show. Just goes to show the Jill Farren Phelps has no clue what soap fans want. Glad she’s gone!
Don’t mind the actor, but I did mind the character– sci fi on Y and R? Here’s hoping things return to the origins of the program, starting back in 1970s with groundbreaking, honest and true stories, especially medical ones.
Loved him and Ashey they had really good chemistry & his quirkiness brought out some fun in Ashley too!! Will be sad to see him go but maybe that will mean less Hillary LOL she’s doing a great job being a witch!!
I loved him with Ashley as well. He brought a lighter side to the show and made Ashley laugh as well. I think there all crazy down there from the writer up. They don’t listen to the fans & get annoyed when we stop watching. Oh well no use complaining nobody is going to do anything. Hope your right Timmm and he goes to G.H. they seem to have a better story than Y & R right now.

GOOD! He was misused. Very talented but never clicked with anyone on the show. I hope he goes to GH and they pair him with Tracy Quartermanine. Those two would be awesome! BUT, you need a good story. Maybe he is Rachel’s father Raymond Berlin? Yummy!
MEK is only 10 years older than that dreadful Hayden.

Remember that William/Julian is only 8 years older than Kelly/Sam (GH), and he plays her father. She looks her age, too….so if we can believe that, we can certainly accept ‘Hayden’ as Michael’s daughter. Rebecca can pass for a thirty-year-old. Not so Kelly, in my opinion.

So true, Timmmy. If TPTB are ready to cast Ray, then, they will. I hope your eish is not out of reach. Technically, Michael is old enough to be Rebecca’s father. It is conceivable. As I said to Harry, if it works between Kelly M and William D, who’s depiction as Sam’s father is outrageous, age wise; then, it should work for Michael and Rebecca.

It really irked me today to see ash take the fall, didn’t she already try that to save John or was it the reverse? Too long ago to remember.
Love him as an actor but I think the story has run its course. Honestly it’s time to refocus on the core families and cut down on how many characters are on the canvas. Hilary for example needs to go. Maybe via a “Who dun it?” or drop dead because the meds didn’t work. The whole Victor story is utter trash. I feel for those actors. I want to throw something at the screen every time Victor talks. He never truly pays (even when jailed) and it’s become ridiculous at this point. I’d even suggest him as a victim of a “Who dun it?” Storyline. Bring him back later but appear to whack him initially and perhaps even have the killer be Kelly Andrews back from the dead! Oh and can we just make Patty sane already. That character has so much promise but has been kept the resident loon for way to long. Wrap up the whole Sage’s baby story and give custody to Adam and Chelsea.
Dr. Neville could have “cured” Patty.

I’ve watched Michael Knight on soaps since the first day he came on AMC. I was so glad to see him on Y&R and very sad that he’s leaving. I really thought there was a storyline brewing for him with Ashley…..In any event, I truly hope to see him on another soap very soon!!

Nothing against the actor, but the story they stuck him and his character in was lame beyond description. So if his leaving means this whole miracle drug that isn’t story will go way, I am all for it.
And it is my profound hope that all soaps stop this silliness of stunt casting, bringing in a big name for what are essentially dead end roles. These talented men and woman deserve better–
Right–no actor can make bad writing work for a long period of time. They painted MEK into a corner and then that horrid JPF comes in for the kill.

I am in mourning over this. I love him. He was one of my favorites on “All My Children” and was a breath of fresh air on Y&R under Pratt, as he had humor and wasn’t always yelling and screaming at other people. Plus he’s an excellent actor.
You bet, Dr. I’m with Timmm. He should be Ray Berlin on GH. Michael is such a versatile actor-of-many-faces. His good looks and easy-going personality can make one eat out of his hand.
He was, Tad, the Cad, afterall. He can certainly assume the role of Ray B.

What if he staged Nik’s fall? What if Nik was not the real Nik, at all? Helena/the Cassadines had the real Nik all this time and an imposter took his place? A creation of Helena’s.
It’s the only route to take in order to redeem him.
You are so smart! Yes, michael as a Cassadine, a male version of Helena or an evil scientist who switched Nicks and created impostor Jason! That way sleepy Miller can go and Steve Burton can return! Big story possibilities!

He, as a Cassadine, would bring the house down with his suave, easy-going ‘stride’.
Now, Nikolas! What an enigma!! I can bet we all guessed that the peson (all covered up) sitting next to Ava on the plane was Nik. That scene was heralded by another scene…..’the sleepwalking duo’, Sam and Jason, who were hard at work finding clues on the Laptop about Nik. Too much of a coincidence.
As asinine as this story may be, wouldn’t it be such a gift if Michael would assume a Cassadine role?
It is a shame this did not work. Mr. Knight is a delight. But the storyline seemed out of synch with the endless Newman-centric shenanigans. I found it difficult to invest.
Wonder what all we might expect to Y&R in the post-JFP era?
That’s too bad. I liked him, although storyline did seem disjointed at times.
I think that MEK was one of the better new hires for Y&R… He was terrific in the role and his chemistry with Ashley was off the charts. His interactions with the other actors seemed exceptional along with his sense of humour and delivery… I would much rather have heard that STEVE Burton and Hunter King were leaving the show…. Maybe the new EP can make an executive decision and keep Simon Neville, at least for awhile longer!
Hunter King is now recurring since she’ll be on Life In Pieces…
She’ll be back, she thinks everyone loves her. That crazy Chloe is coming back Dr. Neville could have cured her If they want to get rid of waste they can get rid of Hunter King for good and send Luka with her.

I started watching Y&R to see him. It was so wonderful to see him again! I thought his chemistry with Eileen Davidson was off the charts! Other than Michael, I didn’t find that much to interest me, so I won’t continue watching. I’ll stick with GH & Days.
I think they should keep him and let him and Ashley become a couple. Everybody rushes to judgements with ratings or study groups. If that attitude went into everything we do there wouldn’t have been Law & Order or CSI or even cures for deadly diaseases.
He had a rapport with Eileen!

I enjoyed watching Mr. Knight but not so much his storyline. He would have been better off as a recast for a legacy character. Maybe he would have stuck around longer.

He and Eileen could have worked. But she doesn’t have a story either. Half the cast on this show have no story. That’s the problem.
He’s as talented as they come. But you can’t animate what isn’t there. Stupid. For what it’s worth, I would have hoped he had been retained and finally given something to do. He was a plot point for a character on hiatus who needed to be returned. Well, Hillary came back and he hasn’t had anything to do since that
He is immensely talented and charming. They never gave him a decent story. I guess this is the last decision that that grim reaper of soaps (JFP) inflicted upon Y&R.. This is terrible unfair.

He just never clicked for me. Any romance between him and Ashley just never developed. I think there was just zero chemistry. And I’m still puzzled about what happened to Gwen!

If, a character is not connected to the Abbots or Newman’s, they are disposable; short lived.
It has always been that way always will be; if not of the Newmans and Abbotts then the actor had best have 2 jobs.

I’m going to see what direction they are going in. I liked the doc. I’m just concerned how they are going to change the s/l’s. Sometimes the changes are worse than before as I have experienced on other soaps. So I’ll keep an open mind.

Yes, he may have seemed “out of place,” but I found it delightful. Neville was as close to a dramedy as it gets. I always looked forward to seeing him although it wasn’t exactly clear where and how he would develop. It could have gone several different directions. Wish he could stick around.

Join Y&R at your own peril…Michael (Tad) and (Cady) Dixie both done wrong. And Patrick (Billy) not looking so good. Some think the same of Steve (Dylan) as well. But then roles at GH haven’t done justice to Roger (Franco), Michelle(Nina) or Michael (Finn) either. Tough to switch from one show/ identity and assume a new one on another soap, no matter how popular. Still I wouldn’t mind seeing MK at GH…I think Harry suggested as a Q.

tey just never developed the character..they brought him in on a rediculous storyline,..that just never took off…they just kept him in a lab coat in stead of developing a love story with ashley…as i did kind of liked the 2 together..now lets get rid of hillary,,devon,,,computer geek,,,brethany i mean cm,on writers please,,wtf…recast jill,,,and give the role to someone who wants to be there,,,some how continue the lagacy of the character of catherine chancellor through a relative maybe a sister,,,Kim Zimmer anyone….put the chancellor estate baxk to its old glory,,,oh yes and send new billy with new phylis to port charles,,dump this whole victor in prison crap,.i mean seriously the actors in his late 70s and were to believe prison drs are doing him on the infermatory floor…sorry but erics days as a leading man are done,,get back to the hystory of the show bring back matured fan fave actors like jamie lyn bauer and janice lynde,,bring them back with a few kids of there own and start your younger set there,,,maybe even woo john mcok from b and b back,,,bottom line start over,,,
If true, it is heartbreaking, though not unexpected given the miserable treatment of Darnell Williams, Debby Morgan and Cady McClain.
It is clear that whoever is in charge of this show has no clue what talent looks like nor how to write for it.

The sad thing is that MEK was all excited about getting this gig and was just glowing about how good his cast mates were.
I cannot but help but think he was too isolated from the core families/characters.
GH made the same mistake with such characters as Nina, Franco and the second character Michael Easman played (forgive me, he’s played so many characters on GH, I cannot recall his name).
I also cannot help but think that if Jeaane Cooper were around this would not have happened. It’s easy to visualize Mrs C taking Simon under her wing

Susan Lucci Joins the Cast of Jonah Hill’s Movie ‘Outcome’
Look who will be part of the ensemble cast in motion picture and film star Jonah Hill’s new film project! That’s right, none other than Susan Lucci (ex-Erica, All My Children).
According to Deadline, the daytime television icon joins other notables including Laverne Cox and David Spade who have been added to the cast of Outcome. The film stars Keanu Reeves, Matt Bomer (ex-Ben, Guiding Light) and Cameron Diaz.
In Outcome, which is written by, and will be directed by Hill, the dark comedy centers around Reef (played by Reeves), a damaged Hollywood star who must dive into the dark depths of his past to confront his demons and make amends after he is extorted with a mysterious video clip from his past.

Soap fans know that following her iconic run as All My Children’s Erica Kane, Susan went on to be featured in Lifetime’s Devious Maids in the role of Genevieve Delatour. Since her Pine Valley days ended (when AMC was canceled in 2012), Susan has appeared in numerous shows and made numerous appearances. n December of 2023, Lucci was awarded the Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award.

Outcome will debut on Apple and is an Apple Studios production. The film marks the latest collaboration for Hill and Apple Original Films, who are also developing a Grateful Dead biopic with Martin Scorsese’s Sikelia Productions, to be directed by Scorsese, with Hill starring in it and as one of the producers of the project, as well.

Jacob Young Shares Production Pic of Cast of His New Film Featuring Joan Collins and Nadia Bjorlin
Last month, during a livestream conversation on the Michael Fairman Channel, while promoting Jason Cook’s film, Four for Fun, and featuring soap notables Jacob Young (ex-AJ, AMC, ex-Lucky, GH, ex-Rick, B&B) and Brytni Sarpy (Y&R), Young revealed some intel on his upcoming movie project.
Jacob shared that he was set to direct, produce and star in a Agatha Christie-like murder mystery feature film, Murder Between Friends shooting in Prague.
The actor/director expressed, “I’m flying at the end of the March to Prague to direct, produce and star in a film with Joan Collins (ex-Dynasty). Nadia Bjorlin (ex-Chloe, Days of our Lives) is in it, and Toby Alexander Smith from Eastenders (ex-Gray Atkins). Plus, a couple of my Broadway friends and a very well known Czech actress (Hana Vagnerova). It’s very ‘Knives Out’ without having a hundred million dollars to shoot it, but still will be a lovely film nonetheless.”

Young is currently shooting the film’s principal photography abroad through April 17th.
Over the weekend, Jacob took to his Instagram to share a photo with the cast of the film where pictured is former Dynasty star, Joan Collins (ex-Alexis) and former Days of our Lives star, Nadia Bjorlin (ex-Chloe). In addition, former All My Children star, Trent Garrett (ex-Asher) is seen in director-mode kneeling.
Trent and Jacob are both co-directors of Murder Between Friends. Joan Collins shared the pic on her Instagram citing, “This was the #secret I posted about several weeks ago!”

Barbara Rush, ‘All My Children’ and ‘Peyton Place’ Actress, Dies at 97
Veteran Hollywood actress Barbara Rush, known to soap opera fans for her recurring roles on All My Children as Nola Orsini, and on Peyton Place where she played Marsha Russell, died at 97 on Sunday, March 31st.
Her passing was confirmed by Rush’s daughter, Fox News Channel senior correspondent Claudia Cowan. In a statement, Claudia shared, “My wonderful mother passed away peacefully at 5:28 this evening. I was with her this morning and know she was waiting for me to return home safely to transition. It’s fitting she chose to leave on Easter as it was one of her favorite holidays and now, of course, Easter will have a deeper significance for me and my family.”
Barbara had an extensive career in films and television that included roles in: It Came From Outer Space, The Goldbergs, 7th Heaven, The Young Philadelphians, Robin and the 7 Hoods, The Young Lions, Batman (TV series ), The Bionic Woman, Fantasy Island, Love Boat, Murder, She Wrote and so many others.

From 1968 to 1969, she starred in 75 episodes on Peyton Place. In 1980, Rush also appeared in NBC’s primetime soap opera, Flamingo Road taking on the role of Eudora Weldon, who’s adoptive daughter was played by Morgan Fairchild.
Then, in 1992, she was cast as All My Children’s Nola Orsini. In the storyline, Tad (Michael E. Knight) had amnesia and washed ashore from a river and wides up in California. He gets a job at Orsini Vineyards, where the owner, Nola Orsini (Rush), says that he is the spitting image of her missing son, Ted Orsini, who was kidnapped as a child, and insists Tad is him. She takes him in, trains him to run the vineyards, and makes him her heir, completely convinced he is her lost son, and the story unspooled from there.
Rush is survived by her two children the aforementioned Claudia Cowan, and Christopher Hunter.
