Days Of Our Lives

REPORTS: Freddie Smith Returning To DAYS To Wrap Story! Guy Wilson OUT!

Courtesy/NBC

Reports from a few online outlets that have surfaced today make it look like this could be the end for Days of our Lives WilSon, literally!

First, after posting a unconfirmed rumor, Serial Scoop is now relating to its fans that Guy Wilson has departed the show and is out at the NBC soap opera.

They also go on to mention that the character of Will is going to be killed-off the canvas, and it will be happening sometime next month in October.

Meanwhile, according to Jason47’s DAYS website, Freddie Smith, who left the series as Sonny Kiriakis will be making a return next month to wrap-up his story.  This now raises speculation that Sonny might be coming back for Will’s funeral.

DAYS has not confirmed or commented on Wilson’s exit, or Smith’s return.

If these reports hold true, it would mean that the soap opera that turns 50 in November, will celebrate it without their history making duo, who had the first same-sex gay wedding between two central male characters on a daytime drama.

So do you think Guy is truly out at DAYS?  Would they murder Sami’s (Alison Sweeney) son? Do you think Freddie is coming back to say goodbye to Will? Share your thoughts below!

geez..
DOOL has more darkness & killings/murders than GH ..
what’s this soap world coming to LOL!
((GH gotta get the mob back up and running!)

I am getting nowhere fast trying to get into DOOL, I like it I really do, but I just can’t jam 3 soaps into my time but still tuning in 🙂
I have only seen a couple of short scenes with these two guys, no idea what they are about. Now one is gone and the other leaving, two less for me to become acquainted with. that is good, in a way.
(how on earth do some watch all 4 soaps, where do they find the time that I can’t find 🙁 ..

you’re too funny

“… I just can’t jam 3 soaps into my time ”

LOL : I get it

I’d be watching Y&R if I could

DAYS is a steady gig… I love it

hey Patrick ..
I give a thumbs up to anyone who has time during the day to watch 4 soaps=4 hours at a sitting lol WOW!
I watch before sleep via web and Y&R & GH total time watching both is a wee bit over an hour..

DAYS is your ”love” soap.. good for you to have a soap you love and enjoy.
It’s a really great when someone loves their soap!!!

Hi, Su.
How are you? Lol…long time no talk.
Well, now, Su. Nothing will ever compare to GH for you. That’s why you can’t really get into Days. Days had its glory days and it will again. My Gran said so..then, it must be true.
Try harder, Su. Look at it this way, I have to suffer through Sonny, Morgan, Alexis, Valerie and Sam……I still watch GH, yes? LOL. later.

Hi CeeCee,,
yes my heart is with GH..
I also like Y&R..
working on Days..It seems to be good.

Yadi apa eka acchī posṭinga dosta haim angreji ko 🙂

@su.
That’s Hindi!! And here I thought you were Scandinavian. Are you Sri Lankan? Indian? WOW!
We may not have the same ancestry, (which I thought we had) but, we have our soaps, that we love so much, in common. Luv-ya.

Guy Wilson may be a bad actor but at least he never got behind a vehicle while intoxicated (like Freddie Smith0) causing harm to other people.

We are talking about acting ability, here. I am the first to repudiate anyone driving under the influence ( I don’t drink, nor have I ever done drugs or smoked Anything of any kind. Plus I am a mother of two small children). But, Guy Wilson is the worst actor on TV. I definitely do not condone Freddie’s behavior, and I sincerely hope he learned his lesson. By the same token, how do you know what Guy, or anyone does behind closed doors? That’s a very incongruous statement.

Be still my heart!!! I am so happy!

I can’t believe it! 🙂

Maybe they can convince Chandler Massey to end those scenes with Freddie?

Some of you CM stans need therapy… For real!

I like Chandler Massey also but if Will is getting killed I would rather see it done to Guy Wilson’s Will.

Though Chandler’s scenes would probably give him a third Emmy.

Fourth

I think It’s a terrible decision. Will is a Horton and a Brady, Sami’s son , Marlena’s grandson it doesn’t get more of a legacy character than that on Days. Before Guy Wilson haters spew their hate I wanna say he was the most entertaining thing about the show this year. I wish him well in his career. If they insist on writing Will off why not have him leave with Sonny? Fix the damage that the last writers did to that couple. Don’t like this at all.

I agree killing off a major legacy character is not a good idea here, especially given the diversity. If the characters need a break from the canvas, write them off for awhile. I thought the problem here had a lot more to do with writing than Guy Wilson.

ditto! “Thank You”

“… the problem here had a lot more to do with writing than Guy Wilson ”

DAYS production?!?!

why are you doing away with the one “epic” story line that carried DAYS of OUR Lives… in the last 2-3 years?

this is how you reward the fans?

this is wrong

I agree, Ron. I am glad Guy is leaving, in one way. The actor never took seed with me. The characterization of Will was destroyed. However, it is a big mistake to completely obliterate ‘Will’. I cheered that this Will is leaving, but I thought he’d be recast.

“… I thought he’d be recast. ”

so did I

reasoning for my wane and hurry up and wait.

Did Guy Wilson have the same impact that Chandler Massey reeled

heavens no…

after Freddie Smith left… I numbed to the absent of Sonny and Will

I so agree Ron and i have to say that i love GW as Will, i’m sad to see him go. Will is my favorite character so no Will, no me. I’m done with this show.

I agree it’s a terrible decision. But, the show hasn’t confirmed it, so maybe there is still hope that they won’t.

It would be a shame to kill off Will Horton, as he is both a Brady and a Horton. The only other characters to hold that distinction are Hope and her kids. And he was half of the first gay couple to be married on Daytime.
Granted many people did not enjoy Guy Wilson’s interpretation of Will, but he is not entirely to blame. The writers changed the writing for Will after Chandler Massey left, making Will very unlikable and acting out of character. Guy did his best with the material he was given.
It would be much better if Sonny came back and took Will back with him to wherever he went and let WIL-SON and Guy Wilson go on to greener pastures.
And with rumors that Camilla Banus is only back short term, this begs the question of what will happen to little Ari?

Camilla Is on contract. She is not leaving.

That would be great. Camilla has come a long way since she first started on DAYS. I had heard A. Martinez (Eduardo) was returning for his “daughter’s death”, but turns out he may be Paige’s father. Does not make sense then why Paige’s last name was Larsen. I had hoped they would make Frankie Brady out to be Paige’s dad.

Is she really on contract??? Oh man that would really make me happy. Like most people I could not stand Gabi at first but I really liked her with Nick. Great news.

Really, Mark? I’m so glad, Camilla is here to stay. I love her…I thought she came for a very short stint.

Agree- problem was with writing.

“And he was half of the first gay couple to be married on Daytime.”

Nitpicky, but he and Sonny were only the first male-male couple to get married on Daytime. Even though Reese was horrible and their marriage short-lived, Bianca and Reese’s nuptials in 1999 were the first.

Right. I did not watch AMC, but I know they got married. Thanks!

I agree, MrsNoahDrake! There are many ways to give a break to the WilSon storyline without killing one of the history-making pair.
In addition, as a 35+ year viewer of Days, I’m disgusted by the possibility of killing Will Horton. my favorite legacy character, linking the Brady & Horton families together & marrying into the Kiriakis family.
While I know this is said to be confirmed, I’m hoping that, like the serial killer, whose identity we will know long before the people of Salem, Will may be thought dead, but we will know he has left (my hope w/Sonny).
As far as Ari & Gabi are concerned, I could envision Gabi ultimately moving to join her mother as she will now be raising Ari alone.

“…There are many ways to give a break to the WilSon storyline without killing one of the history-making pair. ”

NBC / Sony / Days of OUR Lives

the story itself … tho not running it’s course… just lost spark and steam

is NO reason… to kill off this character and / or the one couple who carried this show

simply let them go… explore

and Gabs can have her own time with Arianna Grace

You’re right, Patrick. A story considered significant enough to be featured in the Hollywood Museum shouldn’t be thrown out the window for need of a time-out. I hope NBC / Days of Our Lives doesn’t throw their achievements away.

I’ll be mad if they kill off Will. Whatever you may think of Guy Wilson (I’m neutral) killing off Will would be very shortsighted IMO. I hope Sonny returns and he, Will & Ari leave HEA. We may need these characters in the future.

I definitely agree. As you say, both characters could be used in the future.

“…We may need these characters in the future ”

this is disheartening

this “gay” story

lit up
gave the show in and of itself… an added spirit
diversity
a message
an all encompassing journey that DAYS shared

DAYS simply has got to put it back in… with Paul… and their’s no letting up… his acting partner… has got to be well cast and contracted….

dang it ! assuming… that Paul is carrying DAYS past 50 !

?

Let’s be real though, Paul was just a plot point and, as much as i like CS, i don’t care if Paul leaves or die! It was always about WilSon, as Freddie said, they are the power couple here!
Will is a legacy character ( a Horton & a Brady ), killing him would be a really stupid move. If they go threw with it and apparently they will, i’ll have to give Days the deuces! ✌️

I agree John. I don’t care about Paul. I’d prefer he go. I like CS, but never liked Paul no matter how much TPTB try to connect him to the canvas. Please exit stage left. I hope WilSon is given the possibility to return. Love them.

Wow not very good news, also Kassie Depaiva got let go. I love Kassie, but she was miscast as Eve Donovan. Now that she is leaving, her role has been great. She deserves an emmy next year, for paige been murdered. Kassie got fired, the source came from daytime confedential and soap knows best. Days is getting rid of everyone. I hope Days gets renewed next year, but the ratings are not going up. And the soap is getting good now too.

I am heartbroken that Kassie is leaving. She’s a tremendous actress. Her scenes after Paige’s murder have been terrific. Eve’s tearful confession to Marlena was wonderful. And yesterday, when she threw things around her apartment and collapsed onto the floor in grief was just heartbreaking.

TPTB are being very short sighted in letting Kassie go. The tragedy of her daughter’s death is a perfect opportunity for Eve to reform.

Her storyline came to an end. Not so much a firing, she knew how long her time was for when she came on.

I like Kassie too but always thought Julie Pinson would have been a better recast– especially if they could have brought Frankie back and put him in the midst of a storyline w/ Julie (as Eve) and Jennifer.

I think it would be great to see Kassie use those scenes and win an Emmy next year. She definitely deserved one on OLTL, especially around the time when they did the live week.

I hope this isn’t true, but if this is, I can’t believe DAYS would do this?!
I hope that Will isn’t being sacrificed for the sake of another character(s) or a storyline?!

Will Horton (love him or hate him) is part of the legacy of DAYS!
Given who is parents are, his last name and his long complicated history!

Big mistake, if they kill Will off, Days Of Our Lives is not thinking and are getting pathetic with there decisions. Just recast the role again.

Good news. Finally guy is gone gone gone. Watch me Whip/Nae Nae.
I wish Freddie could stay forever.

No thanks! I’m so glad freddie is gone gone gone 🙂 Finally!!

LOL. Lina. Touche’.

Wills’s a goner this October…Sami returns for the funeral…Happy Halloween!!!…lol

Jimh….you’re a naughty boy!!

Im always naughty…but in a good way…lol

I heard Guy Wilson is replacing RP as Nathan on GH…kidding…lol

Lol. You light up my day, jimh, …always.

@jimh.
You almost gave me a heart attack, Jim. I would die if they ever took my Nathan away.LOL.

I seriously hope they DO not kill Will. I like his character and I think he could be a great story line if they would give him one.

I like the character, not the actor. He does not do ‘Will”s character Justice. He does not have the IT factor. I demand a recast….LOL.

@Rose9 and Liz.
Hi, ladies.
I didn’t watch when Stefano’s evil was at its best..LOL. But, I don’t know if I would have enjoyed it. I don’t like to see people suffer, even in fiction….or become possessed by the devil….Double LOL.
Liz, do you really think Stefano has Bo? What about Aidan? He has the most to gain. Think about it. Some goon wants payment from him. Would it be feasible for Aidan to owe this person money because he retained the goon to hold Bo captive somewhere? Another scenario would be that Stefano and Aidan are working in tandem. That is, Stefano wants to obliterate Bo and he retains Aidan to arrange things for a price. Now, Aidan is being threatened by the goon for payment….ergo, Aidan breaks into the DiMera mansion and steals a check.
….sort of off topic but I could not help but notice……I observed that while Bo is filthy-looking down to his fingernails, his teeth are so clean….white as can be…..Hallelujah!!!! Not a bar of soap in sight; but, plenty of toothpaste with a toothbrush. LOL.

I agree Terri. I really hope they do not kill him, Will is my fav and i actually think Guy did a great job considering the lame material he was given.
CeeCee, you should really get a life. You’re spewing hate in every comment. It’s pathetic.

seriously? Give me one instance where I am spewing hate. I do not use the word. I like the character, I do not like the way Guy depicts him. I have a wonderful life. Who are you to tell me otherwise? Read carefully what I wrote. Unless you have a problem with English, then you are misreading my sentiment. I said repeatedly I do not want Will killed off. It would be a big mistake. What part don’t you understand? Are you new to this site? I am not easily fooled. Examine what I wrote, before you spew your hate.

PS “Fred”
This is not GH. I know exactly who you are and I sincerely hope the moderators are on to you. You know nothing about DOOL…..you just put a couple of general words together that could apply to any story…. that is very obvious. You just made an appearance to dog me since you were shamed off GH with your insulting remarks. I get along with everyone. We exchange thoughts. No one insults anyone until you. And, you have targeted me. I do hope you receive this, albeit I will understand if the moderators will not make it public. But, it would only be fair if they did. Am I so important to you that you must look for me? We are doing just fine here without you.

I would not like the gay storyline to end, but it has not been a frontburner storyline in recent months. I have said before, bluntly, that I did not think it was working because of Guy Wilson taking over the role of “Will”. The energy is not the same. With Freddie Smith having left, the storyline just isn’t there at this time. We still have “Paul” (Chistopher Sean), but they could change his story to fall in love with a woman.
Now with “John Black” trying to find out his true identity (again), we might also find out later that Paul is not related to John Black after all. Then would that mean Paul would be leaving the canvas as well?
We will just have to wait and see what the new writers come up with. I like the character of Paul and would like to see him stay longer, but when you have these long lost sons, like “Daniel”, and daughters, it bites the shark for me and I become disinterested.

During a Periscope session early this morning that he was at the DOOL set working on Tuesday. I guess we will see those seen next Feb/Mar.

“…The energy is not the same. ”

Killing off a legacy character is never a good idea. Especially when it’s the 50th anniversary.

I think it’s ridiculous that they are killing all these actors off.

Wonderful news. Will be very happy once Guy Wilson’s awfully acted interpretation of Will is off the screen. Will save me having to fast forward through all his scenes.

Oh wow. I am glad that Guy Wilson is out as Will finally. I would rather them have Will and Sonny leave town instead of killing Will. With the new writers they have totally ignored the gay characters which is strange. That might be why Dena Higley only lasted a few months because she didn’t care for gay characters before.

It totally ticks me off that as soon as the “new writing team” came aboard, the gay characters were LITERALLY SWEPT off the dramatic canvas. True, the actor who portrayed Sonny left town, but they COULD have re-cast his role. The storylines between Will, Sonny, Paul and Derrick were completely left up in the air. It turns me off that now they are choosing to concentrate on older veterans, in celebration of years gone by. That’s fine but if they do not have any gay characters in town, I don’t think I will be tuning in as often. Plus, gay or straight or whatever, this show moves at a turtle’s pace. I don’t want to make it seem like all I care about are the gay characters, that is not the case – but they did suddenly ERASE them from the picture, and it annoys me.

You know, Lyon, what you said just hit me. I don’t understand why gay characters are never long term or forever. Is Paul sticking around? Hopefully, new gay characters will be introduced.

Like Guy or not– the problem was mostly w/ writing. It’s short sighted to kill him off. But didn’t Days pull this crap several years ago? Made it look like a bunch of main characters were killed off only to be alive on some Salem look alike island? So will some of these people REALLY be dead?

Yes, they did the Melaswen [New Salem] storyline several years ago. They killed off practically everyone & then had them all show up on an island, alive and well. This time, though, Corday as stated that if you die, you stay dead. Now will he change his mind if they kill off a fan favorite and fans blow a gasket & ratings go down? Who knows.

I haven’t been a huge fan of Guy’s but killing off a legacy character like Will is a mistake. I really, really hope that this won’t happen & that Will will be attacked & wind up in a coma, which at some point, recast or return of Guy, he’ll come out of.

Not going to lie, I LOVED that storyline! The crazy island where Stefano imprisoned everyone. I miss the day’s when Stefano was truly crazy, evil, and did superhuman things.

I loved that srotyline too:) I also think he has Bo captive

I think Guy Wilson was mis-cast as Will but killing Will is a mistake, IMO. Send him off to L.A. to be with his mother and siblings. But don’t off such a legacy character because the actors not really working in the role.

Why would they kill him off? They can always say that Sonny had a dream and Will isn’t dead they can always recast Will Guy Wilson acts more like a little boy than a adult.

I can’t believe they are getting rid of Will. Whose decision was this? This is Sami & Lucas son, he is a Horton. Whose bright idea was this, the new writers? I got use to Guy playing Will. Sonny is coming back for the funeral but he won’t be staying either. Arianna won’t have any dad’s now. Wrong move writers. Was liking the show but this is not right.

This actor was a total miscast. The other young man who played Will was a much better actor. This has happened many times throughout daytime where a strong character is recast AND the show realizes they messed it up. Does anyone else recall when they recast Lily on As the World Turns after they refused to pay Martha Byrne? Or on One Life to Live when the brought in someone to play Marty who was played by Susan Haskell or on Y and R when Maura West was playing Diane Jenkins. All 3 of these were disasters and the shows cut their losses. I wish this young man well but it was a mistake from the start.

My understanding is Susan Haskell wasn’t available when they brought Marty back on canvas. I think she was having a baby at the time. Luckily, Susan did return when she could. I’d love to see her in something again. I think Susan is very talented.

ME TOO, I have enjoyed her very much. I would love for her to come back to daytime. Maybe a new DR on GH?

It’s not like Sami (and Lucas) don’t have other children to step into “the legacy” role sometime next year. Johnny and Allie should actually be older than Joey who’s now in high school.

As for the gay characters, I’d welcome a storyline for Paul that’s unique to him and comes with none of the WilSon baggage. He’s now a member of a core family too, and they can always recast the Widower Jackson at some point to play possible spoiler in whatever Paul has going on.

I can understand what you are saying, but how much does anyone want to bet that they will be wrapping up Paul’s character? It seems that “gay” characters are just a novelty for a while and are just intertwined here and there. In real life, gay people have roots and long-term partners so why can’t it be reflected and depicted that way in the town of Salem?

If true, this is such a short-sighted mistake. I will agree that Will is a problem, but it’s a problem because #1, tptb hastily recast the character with an actor that ultimately wasn’t suited for the part. And #2, while the writing has changed Will into an unlikeable character, I personally feel it was done to better match what Guy was already bringing to the table – his good guy Will often came off as bitchy and petulant, no matter what he was trying to portray so I feel like the writers were just trying to write to what was naturally coming off the actor.

Hands down, when Chandler was portraying Will, he was the reason I came back to Days and for the first time in my life, became a regular viewer of Days. Through the lean times, it was Will and Sonny that kept me watching.

To possibly kill off a legacy character who was part of story that has won the show several awards and brought a new audience to the show, is sad. The rumors for months have been that the show is trying to appeal to the ‘classic’ Days audience, which has been interpreted by some as ‘the heterosexual’ Days audience that isn’t interested in gay characters. The gay couple got blamed for low ratings on OLTL and were written out – despite the fact that SO much was wrong with that show at the time. And now it seems that tptb have decided the gays and their fans need to go too because Days has been struggling. So, the solution is to take a once popular, beloved character and kill him off because – well the show screwed up with the casting and the writing – so of course, let’s get rid of the history making character on Days and let’s get these ‘straight’ stories going – we don’t have enough of those to please the classic audience apparently.

(and I’m not trying to be heterophobic here, I’m just really disappointed that the show that has really impressed me with their gay story the last few years, seems to be blatantly and irrevocably turning their back on that story and those once popular characters in a bid to get a short term ratings spike and to get their ‘old’ audience back – new audience be damned – they don’t care. I’m bitter, okay – lol.)

Mike

your last para

beautiful

i’m guilty of not standing by this epic true to life tour de force

I cried

Guy Wilson debuted on DAYS : January 8, 2014

tag this along with the writing team… production value(s)

21 months later….

DAYS / Sony / NBC: “Thank You”

this story is not unlike all of us

please keep this story relevant w/ Paul… and a new lead to feature… it’s tantamount to all that Days of OUR Lives reverberates my core

no matter how “well” they define Salem
a feature; a marquee ; relevant and viable pairing will now be noticeably absent

what is the status of Paul? is this how they plan to carry OUR lives

Thank you!!

Well, for years gays have been depicted in a negative way in movies, this show at least for a very short time did portray them as every day people with regular every day problems.
I AM annoyed that just because the actor who portrayed Sonny vacated the role, the writers didn’t think it was worth re-casting his role. People were critical of Guy Wilson in the role of Will (although I think he did the best he could) and so, hey, kill off another gay character (that’s the current rumor, that Will dies). Paul’s character has hinted that his product endorsement was a flop, so I bet his character rides into the Sunset. As for hunky Derrick, the Bell boy with a glimmer of hope that Paul would like him, he’s not even written out, we don’t even know what happened to Derrick, he’s another gay character who, we assume, just “left Town”.
But, not to worry, there will be endless BORING scenes of John and Marlena, who should be discussing medicare, still trying to figure out if they belong together. Plus, oh joy, there is Kayla and “Patch” trying to work on issues from thirty years ago.
The “new” writing team could have developed a storyline for Derrick, they could have given him a shot with Paul, or they could have portrayed Derrick as being a run around with eyes for too many guys and maybe even shown his bisexual behavior….but no, no….that would be too innovative. Instead, let’s bring back the same old, same old, so and so is pregnant and doesn’t know that he’s not the baby’s father and blah blah blah….that’s been done to death since 1921.
If I sound annoyed because I initially started watching the show to see where the characters of Sonny and Will would go, it’s because I truly am annoyed.

It is a bit ironic that Ken Corday just recently said something to the affect that a soap’s future lies in building the next generation. Will was a part of that next generation. Will is the ultimate legacy character, as a Horton and a Brady.

I was not a fan of Guy Wilson, or the way they were writing Will, but I did not want to see the character killed off. Of course on a soap I’m never convinced anyone is really dead anymore, because so many deaths have been undone. But still– this seems like a very bad choice to make. I think the character needed a rest and a recast, but killing the character off is short sighted.

Will was a glimmer of hope that gay characters could be more than a story story arc or depose of when the “fad” of writing a gay story wore off. I was looking forward to the day when gay characters would just be known as characters fully woven into the canvas, and not a novelty . As a legacy character Will had the best chance of doing that. By killing him off, his story just becomes another blip in the history of the show. It will be a shame, but hopefully the ground broken by this character will not be lost.

“… I was looking forward to the day when gay characters would just be known as characters fully woven into the canvas, ”

showing some heartache here

thank you sincerely for the shared meaning(s)

DAYS isn’t just good… it’s the best

yet… with the exit of;

Sonny
Eve
Aiden

these were three new talents… new characters… who carried the show

OK… Eve was new to me

have to share your first sentence, as well.

“soap’s future lies in building the next generation”

I don’t get this… (OK I wished Will dead) because i’d rather it not be Aiden… and now I’m hearing Eve, is dying)

Unfortunately Mary, if I were to guess, I have a feeling that although Will is a legacy character connected to multiple families – in the eyes of tptb and the current writers, he’s probably expendable because he is a gay legacy character. Not saying they have a true issue with the gay part, but time and again, daytime – while often progressive and ahead of the curve – can also be very conservative in embracing change and expanding the possibilities of storytelling. Yes, Days has done a great job since introducing Wlll in giving the audience a well rounded picture of gay characters, good and the bad. But that team is gone and a desperation for ratings I fear has resulted in a backtracking.

As such, writers and producers on daytime can have a limited scope of possibility when dealing with gay characters. There is the coming out story, the AIDS story – and then???? The cheating story with Will and Sonny was a first, and I was grateful for it because at its core, it was a SOAP story. But when you consider this was the first time we had seen that type of story with gay characters, then you realize how constricted daytime writers are when thinking of what to do with gay characters, either out of fear or lack of imagination. I mean, take a look at Y&R – where its’ been said they won’t do a gay story unless it’s unique or original. Never mind every other story they have on the show is a repeat of a repeat of a repeat in one way or the other. No, what that means is they would rather not hassle with gay characters, what they consider ‘limitations’ in storytelling, and any possible backlash that might come with it .

And I think that’s where we are with Days rights now. TPTB want to return to classic days and ‘family’, and they don’t want to court controversy – they want all good will and ratings. And When you hear those words – classic and family, you tend to think, A Days without Gays. To them, I would imagine it’s easier to come up with stories for their straight legacy characters than the gay one. It’s shortsighted, it’s wrong, and it shows a lack of conviction and creativeness. But, this is unfortunately what we have right now regarding the gay characters on Days.

Late coming to this thread, but I must go on record applauding all that you said, Mike. I agree that they tackled all of the heavy, hard stuff, reasonably successfully, so now it’s time to go back to the easy and safe stuff for their grand anniversary. I wonder if tptb have bothered to think what will happen to their ratings once this “festival” of the old “Days” is over…

The kill Will—if it happens—could spin off some dramatic storylines like a custody battle over Ariana and Sonny turning to Paul just as he has moved on with Derek…however, killing off several character is unnecessary and Ken Corday should recall that in 1980 Days cleaned house without a serial killer…Bob died but many others left town for various reasons…they couldve done that here…Eve and Paige couldve left as part of the witness protection program…Will and Sonny couldve left together to work on their marriage…Bo and Hope would find out the love isnt there anymore and Bo leaves for a job in England!!!…Sometimes the simple stuff works better than a publicty gimmick like a serial killer that could backfire!!!

I know, Mary….killing off the younger cast is not going forward. While I am glad Guy is gone, I am aghast at the fact that Will Horton is no more. That is so ridiculous….just as killing Nick off was.

Mary, I SO agree, I think Corday and his casting dept messed this up. This actor was a BAD fit and killing Will is NOT the best option. They could have written him out until they HAD the right fit come in. Sometimes in daytime if enough time goes by a recast CAN work…

I think it would be a shame to kill Will…Just have him leave town so at a later time you can
bring in a new Will when you want too.killing him makes know sience.not given who
his family is come on Writers At Days!!!

I have suspected that this was the case for quite some time despite Guy Wilson’s denial last month.

IMO the serial murderer plot line is lazy and lacks creativity, especially since it was used on this show in the past.

Paige’s murder makes sense, since she was tied to the drugs in Salem story line. And making Clyde her murderer sets him up to go to jail and never be seen again. Serena could have left and Dr Jonas could go join Doctors w/o Borders. It still would break the hearts of Eric and Nicole. And Will Horton could be left alive and turned into one of those Salem residents that’s mentioned but not seen except once or twice a year until another good story line comes up for him or his SORASed daughter. Dr Kayla Brady and her son are examples of what I’m talking about.

The writing at Days has improved, but the show is not telling any stories that I want to watch. I’ll watch Will’s death and funeral, and then I’m out of here.

I was shocked to hear that Daniel Jonas is being written out too. Are they killing him off too? I hope not. I think he’s important to the entire show. I know there are those who do not agree with me.

Oh, another thing. As long as I live, I will never understand all this Guy Wilson hate.

No, he didn’t play Will as well as Chandler Massey, but what actor would have?

GW is a decent actor and a decent human being who did the best he could with the material he was given. It wasn’t his fault that the writers took Will off into cray cray land, and he’s never deserved all the venom that has been spewed his way the past 2 yrs.

I actually never liked Chandler Massey as Will. Guy Wilson made me fall in love with Will ( i have a thing for edgy/kinda crazy characters!) But i agree that the hate GW has been getting for 2 years now is sickening and reading the comments on this page, i can see that it’s not over, some people are still at it! Disgusting.

What I don’t understand, Eddie, is why you put so much emphasis on the word HATE. No one hates anyone. I never ever use the word in reality. It is a very strong word….not in many of our vocabulary. Some of us strongly felt that Guy did not fit the characterization of Will. He is awful!!!! Now, I will grant the fact that I, personally, keep comparing him to Chandler. …..such a stretch. I don’t even recognize Will anymore., it does not mean I hate him….I do not know him. Cannot hate an image.

Well said, Eddie, well said! I totally agree with you. I’ve loved Guy Wilson from the get-go. It’s a great loss to the Sonny & Will storylines over the years. Big mistake by DAYS, however, things happen for a reason. I hope I will understand that reason someday.

Since Sonny character was still the same one we all loved, he didn’t get any hate despite having bad writing, same as Will.

My point exactly!!! I really hate that people are down right hateful and Guy has been bullied by all these people for no reason at all!! I realize Chandler was amazing as Will and we all fell in love with him, but Guy did his best given the material. I wish Guy all the best if dool lets him go, but all the hate he has been through since taking over from Chandler is insane! Grow up, people! Loving Chandler shouldn’t mean hate Guy.

Killing off a legacy character who is a Horton and a Brady? HUGE mistake.

A slim chance at a short term ratings boost is never worth the long term damage done to a show.

I know right?! Such a stupid move… I’m heartbroken 🙁 I love my Will.

Absolutely…not a smart move. They could have recast.

I’m torn.

Will is a very well connected legacy character and a diverse one at that and could drive plenty of future story. Buuut I’m not sure how I feel about Will being immune from this type of story because the character is gay. But the character as he is now – both the writing and acting – clearly wasn’t working.

I would have compromised at off-screen coma. Have him get attacked by the killer, Sonny comes to take him to an off-screen rehab center, and then they’d have the option to recast both parts down the line.

I agree with you on this.

Perfect scenario, C. Sometimes, I think these writers do things willy-nilly….no thought into it.

Stupid, stupid, stupid……..

What the hell? Well, I am one of the new viewers due to Sonny & Will. They’re gone? So am I! The rest of the show is a snooze. What’s this about Dr. Jonas? Are they dumping him, too? Seriously? Okay. I have an extra hour a day free! Idiots.

I agree with Eddie about the Guy Wilson bashing; he did a decent job with the role. Some viewers didn’t give him a chance . If the character was to remain, someone had to play the part. It’s better to get someone to play the role without constant hiring and firing. That’s what happened with the role of Billy on Young and Restless. No one pleased the viewers but Billy Miller who wanted to leave. Didn’t Chandler want to leave? Enough , already!

Everyone acting like Will is the only legacy character is getting tired. Will shouldn’t be put up there above everyone else on the show because he is lumi child or gay. I don’t feel like he is more important than other gay characters or other legacy characters. Speaking of legacy, that is exactly why his death should have more impact than Serena or others no one cares about. He shouldn’t be immune from it. The show is doing serial killer story and they need to kill note worthy characters. Will has been dead for awhile anyways. He was destroyed.

I’m also glad the show is smart enough not to put Paul and Will together or send Will and Sonny off to sunset after everything that happened the last year.

Hopefully this death isn’t undone.

The show doesn’t has to be gay free. They can grow Paul’s bonded with John and the rest of his family, give him some love interest. Hopefully in six months or a year, they can recast Sonny and finally explore Paul and Sonny as they should have. Or give Sonny new man and story line. The show would only be gay free not because they killed Will but because they don’t want to keep any gay characters on or tell stories with them. They can even have one of the new teens as gay or bi.

Lex

Also glad to have Sonny back even briefly. I miss him.

How will Abigail when she finds out that she is the underlying reason all of these people are getting killed in Salem? Serena, Paige, Will… That will be rough on Abigail! Do you think her baby will survive?

Will miss Kassie DePaiva. The Eve-JJ hook-up ruined her stint in Salem. The hook-up was a bust with the fans big time! Afterwards, her story was “boxed” into the JJ-Paige-Eve fiasco and there was nowhere for that story to go. I do hope they left the door open for Eve to return in the future. Maybe then she can have a fresh start with a brand new storyline.

Also heard Shawn C. Christian is out. Not at all happy about that. Maybe the contract negotiations fell through. Don’t know. Enjoyed Daniel and Nicole as a couple. Was hoping to see them as an “old married couple” in Salem. Maybe they will bring Daniel back at a later time. I am sure Shawn could use a little time off to pursue other projects. I do hope this is just temporary.

Months ago I called it that Will would die and Sonny would come back to bury his husband, which I am sure others did as well. Freddie had said they didn’t divorce and he didn’t die so this makes sense but it also is a stupid thing to do to kill Will off. Now Ari will be raised by an ex-con, even though Nick deserved it, and no daddy since daddy Will ran off daddy Sonny. Hopefully Guy can give us a good death scene.

Hi, LeeAnn.
I didn’t, LeeAnn. I never, in a million years, thought Will would exit by death. I guess I missed the boat on that one.
Gabi had her punishment…not just being imprisoned, but more importantly, missing much of her baby’s formative years. Nick was out-of-control-nuts. Yet, I think TPTB could have re-invented him. Blake is a young, but formidable actor. As you say, Nick deserved to die. Gabi may be an ex-con, but she loves Ari, and is a good Mom. By the same token, look at Sami….she’s not so pristine, yet she’s rearing her kids. I find Gabi to be a much more deserving mother than many on soaps.
I don’t want to see Will die, for so many reasons. His daughter, his legacy, Sonny; the love of his life etc.
If TPTB feel that Guy was not received well by many, then Will should be recast. But, “they” discard anything the fans have to say.

Exactly and heaven forbid they should let Will & Sonny be happily married. They said they had to be treated equally which I agree but not every hetero couple has cheating, so why bring it in to theirs? They changed Will so drastically that I no longer recognized nor liked him. Gabi is a great mom and I am glad Ari has her but why take both her daddies away from her ? So stupid. But like you said, why should the PTB want us to be happy Oh yeah cause we are what keep them on the air by buying the products advertized maybe? A recast for both Will and Sonny would be preferrable to killing off Will.

Corday said he didn’t recognize DAYS anymore. Was he referring to the gay storyline of Will & Sonny and later Paul? Isn’t he the EP of the show? If the ratings were up, would this have been an issue? Like everyone else, I never caught on with Guy Wilson’s interpretation of Will. Chandler Massey made it totally impossible for anyone to step into that role, because he was so dang good! Time for Mr. Corday and the rest of the world to realize that gay folks do live and breathe. With Chandler and Freddie the audience bought into the love story, because of their chemistry. So, now all of sudden Mr. Corday has come from under a rock and realized that his writers were writing stories that he did not approve? Never liked this guy because of his back peddling. When the ratings are down, he ALWAYS goes to the oh, we are going back to the heart of DAYS! How many times has he said this? Give me a break!

Yes, the audience bought into Chandler & Freddie’s love story, but that doesn’t mean everybody loved watching them make out with each other. I’m sure a lot of older fans found it cringeworthy. And, I’ll wager, DAYS lost a lot of viewers because of it. Especially when they did the gay wedding. Will & Sonny might be popular with gays and younger women, but the wedding only brought in 1.7 in ratings. A big wedding like that would normally be a big ratings grabber. IF it were a wedding the audience really wanted to see! But, instead, the wedding day was the lowest-rated day of a week full of wedding preparations, and Y&R, B&B, had their HIGHEST-rated days that day. That tells me that people purposely turned the channel. Not saying people hated the gay characters, but I do believe DAYS went overboard with them. Suddenly there were four front-burner gays in Salem, all tied to core families (you just know they were planning to make Derrick a DiMera or something). They were on every other day! And the heterosexual pairs were given short shrift. Where was Sami & EJ’s big, beautiful wedding? Eric&Nicole’s? ANYbody, heck, we ladies love weddings, but most of us want to see a bride and groom. Sami & EJ fans were especially bitter, and refused to help WilSon fans trend on Twitter. It became clear to me that DAYS just wanted to be “Gays of Our Lives” and all they really cared about was winning GLAAD awards. I quit watching after the holiday episodes last year, honestly, that Thanksgiving episode! No heartfelt family moments, just Kate & Clyde in bed! Paul fantasizing about Sonny! That’s not the DAYS I know! I’m hoping to see a Horton/Brady Thanksgiving this year, with NO bed scenes!

Maddie, I totally hear what you are saying, but why can’t there be room on the canvas for everyone? Regarding the bed scenes, they have been displayed on nighttime and daytime shows and movies for years. And yes, I agree they can be a little too explicit. But the same could be said about the violence on such shows as: Criminal Minds, All of the CSI shows and Hannibal. I will miss Will & Sonny’s love story and I applaud the previous writers for having the guts to go there.

HI, maddiehayes.
I agree with you to some degree…very wise words on your part, and I do get it……I find all love scenes…even just making-out, on daytime cringeworthy….not just gay, but heterosexual, as well. Sometimes these scenes are over the top. And I am not even thirty yet. But, I do have young children. As an educator, I do not lack for words of explanation, however; it becomes quite the challenge to explain one thing without the other; if you get my drift. I do understand about our elders….they are from a different time.
I have two grandmothers and a great-grandmother….they are as different as night and day. My Scottish grandmother is so open-minded…in some instances more so than I. LOL.
This is a changing world. Prime time love scenes, gay or otherwise should not be a problem for anyone if done with taste, as long as no children are watching. It is the parents’ responsibility to take it upon themselves to either change the channel or remove the child. A few weeks ago, as I was watching an episode of MISTRESSES, there was a scene with a threesome. THAT to me was ultra offensive. I did not want to watch, and I didn’t. I love that show, but I am very selective….my remote makes me the boss….LOL.
But, as one of the posters said, gay storylines seem to evaporate from the soaps. I don’t think that’s fair… Homosexuality is part of our world. Always has been. It is in the forefront more than ever because of certain civil rights and because the planet is forever a’changing in all ways. I apologize for sounding patronizing, maddiehayes. I certainly don’t need to tell you that.
It’s just that you mentioned the older generation having a problem watching any type of gay ‘activity’. The elders are the ones who need to step up. It is what it is. Gosh, what about the ’60’s? They lived through that free love stuff. Well, being gay was part of that revolutionary movement. Ok. I’ll shut up now. Thanks for indulging me. Bye.

CeeCee, i agree .. I usually FF through any type of sex scene, they have gotten so explicit now! I remember watching DAYS with my mom, I was so young and impressionable! And soaps have always had adultery and wrong-doing. But it was portrayed as WRONG. Nowadays, anything goes. I cannot imagine my mom watching DAYS with 7-yr-old me in the room now. I certainly don’t let my kids watch! I DVR the show and watch (or FF) later. And yes, it would be nice if everybody had the same moral standards and everybody thought the same way, but that’s just not the way the world works, that’s me being patronizing, sorry CeeCee! lol .. DAYS can preach about homosexuality all they want, and try to shame people into watching, but that’s not going to work. If people don’t like it, they can turn it off. And, I’m afraid, that’s exactly what has happened in some cases. DAYS needs all the viewers it can get! They shouldn’t be trying to alienate ANYBODY. Not gays, not conservatives. They can find a happy medium (and killing off all the gay characters isn’t it, LOL).

Hey Lew, I agree, they don’t have to get rid of all the gay characters, just have them on less often! Give some African-American characters a chance! (like Abe and Theo, when is the last time THEY had a front-burner story?!). There are many groups who get very little representation on TV (like the disabled), but just because they’re not LOUD like GLAAD, they get no attention. And, don’t forget, if DAYS wants to lure back long-time viewers with Bo&Hope, Patch&Kayla, most of them would be put off by explicit gay shower scenes. The DAYS audience is older and more conservative than the nighttime or cable audience. I’m sure Corday has done his research. I’m sure the gay characters will be on the front burner again, but right now is not the time, when they’re trying to lure back viewers who, perhaps, quit watching because it had become “Gays of Our Lives”

I really think that DAYS is going off the air, seriously how much more can they write ??? All the good actors are leaving ~~~~think about it ????? THIS IS A WRAP !!!

It certainly does feel that way, doesn’t it….

Bad move on DAYS part, another Brady gone and the best gay couple ever!

Hey, Brett.
I agree that Sonny and Will played by Chandler was the best couple. These guys were perfect….great fit. Not so much with Guy. I never thought the two had a good connection. And, to make it worse, the writers decided to have Will cheat on Sonny. So, we can’t really say the best gay couple ever. Gay or straight, feelings were hurt just the same. When that special bond and trust is broken between two people; more times than not, the marriage/relationship cannot be put together again.

I really hope will isn’t killed off. Maybe go off to do his writing To find himself but to kill a Horton I hope not. Will an sonny story line wasn’t the best but I understood why they did it. I just personally didn’t care for it. Just hope they leave it alone an will can come back soon.

Sad to see Will killed, but Guy killed the character long ago. I will not be sad to see Guy go. He has been awful since day 1 as Will. The writing didn’t help. I hoped they would recast Will (Is Chandler available?) and change up the writing. Maybe we find Will in the shower and it’s all been a dream. I also thought his writing career story was ridick. Wasn’t he in college and then all of a sudden magazines are clamoring for him. Didn’t make sense. Of course, Abby is some bigwig at the hospital and has some huge plush office and is doing who knows what.

Kate Mansi’ Abs is one seriously needed overhaul

Melissa Reeves’ Jennifer : DOA
Kate Mansi’ Abs: pedestalled golden circle queen who’s acting range nose dives
Casey Moss’ JJ: coop: this guy has carried the Horton Legacy… Love him!

DAYS is rightfully so… featuring Billy Flynn as Chad… he’s dynamic as the youngest DiMera… but to saddle Abs with him? I hesitate.. because of Kate Mansi acting…

it’s a natural choice to go with this…. A DiMera and a Horton

what bothers me… most of the time… is Kate Mansi’ acting choices
her range… from vacillating between Ben and Chad is cringe worthy… her going between both men… LOL is like watching her range from that of a child to a woman…

wheres the carry the Horton legacy and heroine ? she’ll rage at everybody else… especially Theresa.. but she’s so wishy washy with both Ben and Chad… make your own decisions!

I don’t really care about her inner turmoil .. her angst… her BIG decision (LOL) will she or won’t she choose the right man. ugh!

Kate Mansi: she has jumped in to bed… with Ben multiple times… and just as much w/Chad

is this… stirring enough ? for her lack of acting
as she is so indecisive about who she wants to be with

if this is all coming from her virtue and moral righteousness… then spare us all
the only one applauding is Jennifer

Your first sentence, Patrick, just got me rolling on the floor laughing. Poor Abs. Can’t say you’re wrong!! Actually, I hope TPTB NEVER saddle Chad with HER.
There’s no comparison between Abby and Theresa. The latter will outrace Abby each and every time in every way.
Chad is one gorgeous, sexy hunk who deserves the ideal counterpart. Ben is as wishy-washy as Abby, Patrick. They do deserve each other. He’s an insecure cry baby. Who wants a husband she/he would have to constantly reassure he is the only one? Tiresome. What kind of life is that?

Hi, Patrick.
Since your thoughts are always poetically profound…..let me put this to you.
Do you think that the appearance of Sean to Caroline was an omen? A foretelling? A warning of sorts that their great-grandson, Will, was to die?

its not be the same with out Guy Wilson, its like part of us fans would like part of us missing.im huge fan of Guy Wilson!!! why ?kill off WillHorton it you did not kill Freddie Smith character of Sonny Kiriakis. tell you the truth I think Will Horton could fake his death because he go a daughter,as these so call writer they did not give Will&Sonny a real chance of marriage.i support people who play there character.but since there letting everyone go i do not support days of our lives anymore just the charcter. only actors&actress not writers

The writers did give Will and Sonny a chance. Unfortunately, the audience did not take to Guy. He has a lackluster personality with looks to match…..a far cry from Chandler. If you remember, the fans complained endlessly about Guy. So, it was not the writers. Guy Wilson just has no charisma. He’s in the wrong profession.
However, Will Horton should not be killed off….it is wrong on all levels. It won’t be the same without him. Perhaps, there’s still hope. He should just go visit his mother for a while and then return, in due time.

Say what you will about Guy Wilson. At least he didn’t smile inappropriately in countless scenes as Massey Chandler did.

LOL, James, my dear friend. But, look at Chandler’s smile! The world lights up. Guy’s? Not so much! Later.

Hey there, Sweet CeeCee! You make a good point!

@James.
Hi, to you, dear James.
We all have our favorites. Sometimes we like or dislike a character for the most insignificant reason. That’s what makes us different as human beings. I know what Kathy is saying. That thing with Guy’s mouth and the moving of his forehead up and down really got to me….you know, James? I actually tried moving my forehead like that. LOL, I got as far as raising my eyebrows. HaHa. It’s all good, my friend….just bring some levity into it, albeit I do not like losing Will Horton. Never, ever did I think he would be killed off the show. Later.

No Guy didn’t smile all the time he just constantly pursed his lips and wrinkled up his forehead for no reason and in every kind of scene he attempted to act in.

Kathy, you make a good point, too! Chandler just got on my nerves with his mugging for the camera, but the Emmy voters likes his work nonetheless…

Hey, Chandler can’t do no wrong with his 3 (Junior) Emmys. He’s the messiah, haven’t you heard? lol…

Thanks, Rastia! Good stuff!

Lol, rastia. Good one. But, Chandler hasn’t walked on water, yet.

I’m shuddered at the possibility of a new height of some of his fans’ irrationality if he does walk on water. urgh…

Hi, rastia.
And, LOL again. You’ve got a great sense of humor. I love that. I like Chandler, yes…but I agree, i’ m no fanatic. Sometimes certain characters take seed, some don’t. I always thought Guy crushed the role. However, I really did not expect for the character to be killed off. It’s senseless. I don’t know how TPTB will explain it. This is a ridiculous move. Who knows, maybe they will rethink it? Later.

I have no problem with Guy. He had some really good scenes and not so good, just like Chandler. Yes, C had bad scenes. The truth is if there is an actor under 25, white, blond with more than 3 jr. emmys looking for a soap job, the whining fans will never be happy. Killing Will is a smart move by the show. Guy takes the blame and the show got to ‘un-gay’ itself. Let’s see if that means renewal.

Will Horton is my fave on the show.wilson is my fave couple.i don’t want guy Wilson to leave the show. I hate where days is taking the story line to infedility. I hope sonny comes back to ari and Wilson not Paul or funeral!!!
I was prefer Chandler massey but guy has kind of grown on me

If this is to be, I am disappointed. Will is a legacy character, tied to key families. That does not give the character a pass, but I am saying Willis important. As a gay man, I liked the Will storyline although was not fan of the recast, or how Will turned into someone I did not care for. Perhaps he is his mother’s son. Still, Will could grow, change and return to being a voice of reason for Salem’s younger set. I hoped Will and Sonny would be a long-running super couple of sorts, on and off through the years, but always strong.

Soaps often rush to make young people grow up, have sex, and unplanned babies and I think this did the Will character a disservice. Life is interesting and complicated enough in relationships and despite the massive society shifts of 25 years, it remains so for gay people. The rush to marry, parent, and more made this couple a little stale.

I can accept Will and Sonny off the Salem story boards for a while. But I would hope they would return to Salem to fall in love all over again.

Maybe Sonny returns to be killed by the Necktie Killer! And after the funeral, Will goes back to California with Sami.

What happened to Derrick? He was so smitten with Paul, and Will interfered and I guess it ruined Derrick’s chances…but of course, I can only ASSUME that since the new writing team completely chose to practically obliterate the gay characters. I certainly would have re-cast Sonny and kept Wilson going – I would have give Derrick (as played by Spencer Neville) something to do to utilize him further.
So now, we won’t have Will, we won’t have Sonny, Paul is reduced to a mildly supporting character, and Derrick is out of the picture. Heaven forbid gay characters should become a permanent fixture in the town.
Instead we are dealing more with characters who are about 102 years old seeing ghosts in the mirror, or actors using atrocious non- convincing Italian accents coughing in a hospital bed, or the same old stale will John and Marlena get back together again, now that they are old enough for Medicare.
I hope the New Writing team is happy, I for one am not.

If they kill off Will that will be an epic mistake by this writing regime and the show. Like or hate Will, like or hate the current actor. Will is a legacy character. Grandchild of 35 year vets, child of 20 year vets. Through Sami & Lucas we have see Will through every stage of his life. Why would anyone think it was a good idea to kill of a character with that rich history, ties to every family, and now his own standalone storylines. Will is the definition of the next generation of this show. If you hate Will (as I do) just recast, and start writing the character as less of a whinny, pathetic d-bag. Problem Solved! You don’t kill him off. Unbelievable…..

Exactly, I hope they don’t kill off Will. Not because he’s gay, but because he’s Sami & Lucas’ son! I was hoping he’d be ‘bi’ actually, and end up in a happy family with Gabi and Arianna, even though that would make a lot of people mad, lol. But he could still struggle with same-sex attraction, and that would be an interesting story for him. And definitely get a different actor.

I think Will will be killed by the serial killer when he comes to the rescue of his grandmother Marlena. That will be the reason Sami comes back to Salem. It also explains why Sonny comes back. Ken Corday did warn that legacy characters would be killed off permanently.

That’s so terrible. !!!!!!

Well when Guy Wilson showed off his new headshots, it was kind of a clue he was out on Days… If Will is going to be written off, Is it too much to hope for that ‘Wilson’ gets a happy ending …. IMO Days wrote their story horribly this year…

I find this new to be bittersweet. I’m very glad that the lousy Guy Wilson will soon be gone. (He should have never been cast in the first place.) I’m sad though that the role of Will won’t be resurrected by a competent actor or by the terrific Chandler Massey.

Days Of Our Lives

Days of our Lives Star, Greg Vaughan, Gives Health Update and Thanks Everyone for Their Support

Greg Vaughan (Eric, Days of our Lives, ex-Lucky, GH, and ex-Diego, Y&R) provided an update on his health on Sunday, March 17th. Vaughan had previously shared that he had become ill during a trip with his sons to Colorado, and had developed altitude sickness when he was having trouble breathing accompanied by terrible headaches and landed in the urgent care.

Now on St. Patrick’s Day, Greg took to his Instagram and shared how he is feeling now, and to thank everyone for their love and support.  As it turned out, Vaughan was diagnosed with high altitude pulmonary edema, commonly known as HAPE. However, he is on the mend slowly and surely.

In his new video post, the DAYS favorite started by expressing, “I just felt such an appreciation and gratitude for everything. . reaching out. Your prayers have been felt. It’s been a struggle, but I’m over the top. And, taking this moment just to say I didn’t realize the things that I was going through. My (original) post was simply just to educate, put some information out there and some things that I was feeling, just share that information and the struggle that I was going through, which I didn’t quite understand. And it wasn’t because I’m stubborn or just because I’m a father, a man, and didn’t want to go to a doctor. It is just something I thought was so minor that I could overcome it, just by taking care of myself.”

The Daytime Emmy winner then revealed his actual diagnosis, “So, basically my situation was high altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE). With some good friends, doctors that had reached out to me, it kind of gave me some understanding on the aftermath, which was very, very beneficial.”

“But I’ve been resting, taking care of myself even though I live in a hamster wheel,” said the dad of three teenaged boys. “I gotta get up and, you know, do my normal domesticated stuff, eventually. I’m tired of laying down in this bed, but, I am feeling much better.”

Photo: GVaughanIG

Talking on his confusion of trying to understand what could have been ailing him, Vaughan expressed, “I couldn’t quite figure it out, even though I was emphasizing and professing to my children going on our spring break getaway about hydration. I professed it. But, even though I was acting on it, it had a greater effect on me, and for which I did not even think, because my head was such in pain, and I was in a very bad state of mind – not being able to be out there with my kids on the mountain, enjoying their time, as well. I thought I was doing the right thing. Unfortunately, my lungs were full of fluids and my head was in severe pain and even migraine pills didn’t even help. So, I just want anybody that goes into the Colorado Mountains to know, it is no joke. It is this very serious thing which I guess is why they call it the Mile High City.”

Greg had a mountain of ‘thank you’s’ to give for the outreach he received from his original post, “For everybody internationally, wherever you are, I love you and I appreciate you and just the time and the thoughts that you’ve shared with me,” said Vaughan. “I didn’t realize that it would make such an impression on so many people around the world. I feel tremendously loved and I can’t say it enough. I’m good. And I appreciate you.”

Photo: GVaughanIG

The actor concluded his video with, “To all the family and friends that have reached out to me, man, it means the world. So take care of yourself, enjoy your spring break with your families. It’s Saint Patty’s Day, obviously. I wish I could be out there.” Vaughan added, “I feel loved and touched and I can’t emphasize that enough. I’ll take better care of myself, promise you will do the same.” Before he signed off, Greg shared, “Just know, that I’m alive and well and breathing, and I’m sore. So, be well, take care. I mean it. Thank you, tremendously.”

Glad to know that Greg has been on the mend, and shared his appreciation for everyone that reached out to him during this trying time? Comment below.

Days Of Our Lives

‘Access Hollywood’ and ‘Couple to Throuple’ Host Scott Evans to Appear on Days of our Lives

Scott Evans, host of Access Hollywood and the Peacock reality series Couple to Throuple, will make a guest appearance this week on Days of our Lives.

Circle the Thursday, March 21st episode of DAYS for Evans’ arrival in Salem. During his tape date last fall (since DAYS tapes months well ahead of when episodes actually stream), Scott posed for a snap alongside Mary Beth Evans (Kayla), Jackée Harry (Paulina), James Reynolds (Abe) and Greg Rikaart (Leo).

Teasers for the 3/21 episode of DAYS share that Leo tries to come up with his next gossip column, and Paulina and Abe return home to a mini-celebration set up by Johnny and Steve. Will Evans pop up in one of those scenarios? Stay tuned.

For a long time, soap opera fans knew only of one Scott Evans. The one who played Oliver Fish on One Life to Live from 2008-2010.  But in show business, there are two Scott Evans’ that are widely-known.

Last Thursday, March 12th at the 35th annual GLAAD Media Awards, it found both Scott Evans and Scott Evans together in the green room and they taped this video ditty below, calling out how they both share the same name.

Days of our Lives Star Greg Vaughan Shares Sudden Health Scare: “I Truly Feel Like I Work & Live in a Soap Opera!”

What started out as an adventure with his sons, quickly turned into a nightmare for Days of our Lives Daytime Emmy winner, Greg Vaughan (Eric Brady).

In a series of Instagram posts, Vaughan shared the sudden health crisis he found himself in.  The images show Greg with an oxygen tank to help him breathe.

The actor began to fill people, sharing, “I’ve said more than a few times, I truly feel like I work & live in a Soap Opera! 🤪 this trip was nothing short of another great Vaughan adventure!”

He went on to say that on a father and son Colorado spring break trip, he began to feel shortness of breath, feeling tired and with a headache and after two days of hoping he would feel better, Vaughan finally went to an Urgent Care to get checked out.

“I finally surrendered & went to urgent care and to my shock I learned that I was experiencing severe altitude sickness.” Vaughan admitted. “My Blood Oxygen was at 54% & my lungs were full of fluids! Blood oxygen, also known as oxygen saturation, represents the percentage of hemoglobin in your red blood cells that is carrying oxygen. Most people have an oxygen level of 95-100%….”

Providing more detail to his health scare, Greg shared, “Well, 4hrs later, a couple of bags of IV & oxygen tank strapped to my face, I was told that I needed to immediately get off the mountain! However I couldn’t, we still had another day to go & wanting the boys to enjoy their last day on the hill tops! I opted to go home with an oxygen tank, a good laugh for everyone, and I know will follow, but my boys looked after their old man & fortunately they had friends on this trip!”

The experience of altitude sickness in the Colorado Rockies gave Vaughan a bit of a new perspective, “In all seriousness, no matter your age, and all the times I’ve ⛷️ & 🏂 in my lifetime, Colorado Rockies is no joke! As they say, ‘ take a breathe and smell the roses!’ That is truly something we need to remember & appreciate! #recover”
