REVENGE Post-Mortem: Two Dead And Six Feet Under, One Wedding & A Final Twist!

Courtesy/ABC

ABC’s Revenge bid farewell after four seasons of back-stabbing, murders, and twists and turns.  Some twists were fantastic, and some over the last few years not so much.

But the now canceled soap opera in the Hamptons, took its final bow during Sunday night’s series finale – trying to tie up loose ends quickly – and trying to make a semblance of a resolution for its main characters. (If you have not watched last night’s finale do not read any further.)

Let’s start with Amanda Clarke. (Emily VanCamp).  After over three and half season posing as her alias Emily Thorne, the showdown was set for her to take out and kill her arch nemesis, Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowe), who was alive and well, thanks to Margaux’s (Karine Vanasse) help.  Viewers learned that Victoria was able to can get an assist in her “death” thanks to her vile mother played by Adrienne Barbeau.  There is a flashback scene in a hospital where in her dying breathes and spewing venom at Victoria, Marion admits that Victoria was raped by her father all those years ago.  Next, it’s revealed that Victoria had put her mother’s body in the fire at Grayson Manor to help fake her own death.

After escaping from prison after “confessing” to the murder of Victoria Grayson, with the able help of Nolan (Gabriel Mann) and Jack (Nick Wechsler), she spends a night in the arms of her true love, Jack Porter.  After Jack goes out to pick-up breakfast for the two, all hell breaks loose as White Gold (Courtney Love) is on the loose and stabs Jack  … and it’s not looking so good for him.   He is taken to the hospital where Amanda and Nolan are so distraught, the duo decide they must kill Victoria Grayson for good!

In the showdown scene, Amanda is about to shoot Victoria, but her father David Clarke (James Tupper) shows up and plugs Victoria himself!  As Victoria is bleeding out, she has some time left to shoot Amanda.  You see both women in a pool of blood …  but only Victoria truly died!  We then learn that David died shortly there after when getting a compassionate release from prison (since he was dying of lymphoma – brain cancer) to be at home with his daughter.  Then in the moment that brought the relationship between Amanda and David full circle, the twosome says, ” I love you infinity times infinity,” with Amanda looking at the etched symbol in the railings on the house that David carved out to her as child that has been symbolic throughout the four seasons of episodes.

Next, we see Amanda prepping for her wedding to Jack. The two survived the final hour of the series  alive!  The duo say their “I do’s”, and Amanda gives Jack a new dog as a nod to his beloved dog Sammy!   The newlyweds are now setting sail to start their new lives together.   Next, we see what appears to be a flashback of Charlotte (Christa B. Allen) telling the doctors to not tell Amanda “who” provided her new heart (since she needed a heart transplant to survive her gunshot wound.) But guess what? It was Victoria’s heart who went into Amanda’s body to save her life.   However that stunning revelation was followed by Amanda suddenly waking up on Jack’s boat!  Whoa? Did that really happen?

And what of Nolan Ross?  Would he find happiness? Looks Like Amanda looked out for him as just about everyone Nolan cared about is gone. Just as Nolan looks to have no purpose or direction in his life at the moment, in walks a man who says he needs Ross’s investigative abilities to help prove his mother’s innocence who is prison on murder charges.  Nolan realizes Amandaand connected the two men, thus giving Nolan his next project.

Kudos to the performances of Emily VanCamp, Nick Wechlser and Gabriel Mann, who brought the heart and soul of the show together in their final performances.

So, what did you think of the series finale of Revenge? Did the right people go into the “Two Graves” as the title of the episode suggested? Are you glad Jack and Amanda got married?  What did you think of Amanda’s flashback moment… is Victoria’s heart beating within her as just revenge for all she did to the Grayson clan?  Share your thoughts below as we say “Goodbye Revenge!”

It was a very satisfying series finale. Thanks for the review Michael. Rip Revenge

I thought it was great, although i am sad tte show has ended

I thought it was very rushed, and I think ABC should have given the show an additional 30 minutes since it was absolutely clear this would be the last season since season 3. I enjoyed it generally speaking, in terms of plot and outcome, but I felt it was so full of events that it was hard to achieve any emotional impact. BAM! Jack’s stabbed! BAM! Victoria was raped by her father! BAM! Barbeau’s corpse was in the fire! BAM! Emily’s shot by Victoria! BAM! Charlotte gives Em Vic’s heart! BAMBAMBAM! FOOLED YOU, THAT WAS A NIGHTMARE! It was good, but it was rushed. ALSO, very disappointed that the Nolan spinoff wasn’t picked up by ABC.

Read an interview on tv line. It’s not definitive whether Amanda did or didn’t receive Victoria’s heart. I personally think she did…the final irony. As for Nolan, I read conflicting info of whether he’ll spin off on his own or perhaps wind up on another show…

In an interview with the writer he said it was NOT her father she slept with, but her mom’s boyfriend…

I agree.. 90 mins or two hours finale would have been much more suspenseful..

I agree! It deserved a little more excitement.

I agree! It should have been two hours. All the hype for the Emily/Daniel wedding and like 3 minutes for Jack and Emily. It felt like Jack deserved a little better. I also thought it would have been sweet of they would have gotten married on the beach and reenacted their childhood wedding, but a grown up classy version. I also thought it would have been better if Victoria hadn’t supposedly died in the fire. By the time she actually did die, I didn’t care at all! I like the ending of the story, but I think two hours would have been better. One episode for the mean gritty revenge stuff, and one episode to show Emily and Charlotte making up, the wedding, and the mushy stuff.

The episode had me in tears throughout the entire hour. I’m happy the writers finally gave us Amanda and Jack together at last. I think that Amanda does have Victoria’s heart, that Charlotte saved her half sister. I’m going to miss the show very much. Amazing cast, writers and producers! Very sad to say #goodbyerevenge. After 4 amazing seasons, I think it ran it course. The scene at the end, I felt it left the door open for Nolan to have his own spin off.

I will miss the show. I think they did a good job of ending it, however hastily. It could have been developed in a better way with 2 hrs to truly get the full emotional impact. It was great to see the happy endings.

Not such a happy ending. I truly hated that David died…regardless of the emotional impact or full circle or whatever impact the writers were going for. I get it from an artistic point of view…I just didn’t appreciate it as one.

wow!
The woman Nolan is going to investigate is the woman that married Conrad’s father whom came back spending his money.
An opening for a return for Nolan and a series for him..

Amada has Victor’s heart..
When Amanda was getting reading for her wedding while sitting in front of the mirror, she ran her finger down her chest on the transplant scar it was visible it was there..
watch for it online watch Revenge go to 35 minutes time/mark and wait you can not miss the scare..
She does have Victoria’s heart !!

I thought I had gotten the ending I wanted when Amada shot/killed Victoria and Victoria shot/killed Amada..
I wanted them to kill-off each other for the ending.
How awesome befitting that would have been, and when both had shot each other and they both were laying in their blood, I thought ”hooray” perfect ending, they killed each other but it went on ..

I read so many comments about Amanda having Victor’s heart, and not one, so far, caught the moment when Amanda ran her finger down her scare, genius!
Victoria’s heart beating in Amanda, yes! a perfect match in more ways than one 😉

I too believe it was Victoria’s heart though the writers said they purposely left people wondering. And yes, there was a scar…and once againI do believe it was Victoria’s heart…the perfect revenge that it was she who ultimately saved Amanda…and the two were still a part of each other. However, that doesn’t mean we’re right. The scar revealed she had surgery…could have been someone else’s heart. well never know…

the whole finale felt very rushed,,couldnt they at least given us a 2 hour finale and really give all characters some in depth endings,,poor charlotte had no closure at all…from being shot and walking down isle just way to fast,,there was no build up to the end …this finale had no fizzazz,,,, it fizzled,,,

Revenge was canceled, no notice..
what we seen was mostly the season ender not the final episode..
there is not time to create a 2 hour ending nor would ABC give up a time slot for a canceled show..
The ending was done for the time it had.. 🙂 It had no time to go on, it was canceled..
It needed to put a lot in a little space,in little time, to give us the great finial..

If she really DID give Emily/Amanda her mothers heart…that was HER revenge against Victoria…her closure…

I want a Nolan-centric spin off.

I gotta say, if Charlotte gave Amanda Victoria’s heart, that is BY FARRRRR the best revenge of the entire series. And when she delivered the line “It’s what my mother would have wanted.”, I was so gleeful! Best line delivered by an awesome actress! Gooo Charlotte!!!! I was also glad Louise came to get senses. I really liked her with Nolan.

I definitely would enjoy watching a Nolan Ross spinoff, and I’d like to see Louise in it. (The Exes as a thriller?) I was glad Louise wised up to the lies and manipulation and did the right thing. I thought it was rushed but I believe the producers tied up the show correctly. Victoria and David’s affair was a root cause for the upheavals suffered by their children, so they had to go. I liked the resolution for the remaining characters, and I’m glad Charlotte could save her sister through serving up a little comeuppance to her mother. I would have liked to have learned for sure what happened to the money Victoria and David had hidden away 20 years before; maybe I missed it, though.

Watched last night on DVD the finale (swiss-german tv cancled it after season 3). I have to say: wow.
to bad REVENGE ended now. It was great, entertaining. Compared with other cancled Shows (like “Dallas”): it was a great finale. And when Charlotte gave Amanda Victoria’s heart – this was really good (even it could be Amandas dream only ?). And like somebody mentioned: it’s a revenge that Victoria’s heart lives now in Amanda. It can also be a “revenge” from Charlotte to Amanda who killed her mother.
but at all: 4 years.. of lies, gossip, revenge… the writers did a great Job.

Mark Consuelos Celebrates One-Year Anniversary as Co-Host of ‘Live’ Alongside Kelly Ripa

Today, April 17th marks a full-year since Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo, All My Children) took over the co-hosting duties of ‘Live” alongside his wife, and longtime co-host, Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley, All My Children).

Consuelos replaced Ryan Seacrest who are six seasons decided to be back on the west coast full-time. For Consuelos, now having the opportunity to work off of Ripa as co-hosts has been something of adjustment for him, but viewers have been eating it up.

Live with Kelly and Mark has remained the No. 1 entertainment talk show on television over the past year, growing 3% in average total viewers to 2.23M per episode.  It is also the most-watched daytime talk show in the last year in key demos of women 18-49 and women 25-54. All of this, since the real-life marrieds teamed-up.

Speaking with Deadline, Kelly Ripa shared why the two are gelling on-screen, “I do think that there is something very possibly relatable about our relationship. We have disagreements like a normal couple, and we’re not afraid to let them unfold on the air and in front of America, and I think people find a lot of themselves in that.”

Mark weighed in how he has progressed as a host, and what he could improve at, sharing, “I’d like to get better at my interviewing skills. I’d like to get better at reading a teleprompter…I think I’m getting better at throwing to commercial. The other day in the middle of the show as we go to commercial, my sign off was ‘See you guys around.’ I mean, the show wasn’t over. The most obvious thing to say would be, ‘We’ll be back right after this.’ But I just said, ‘See you around.’ So we went to commercial and one of the producers (goes) ‘What was that?’ I don’t know… So for the next few sign offs, as a joke, I’d say ‘See you around.’ We got a kick out of it.”

Meanwhile, Kelly has given huge props to Mark, “I find Mark utterly compelling, really interesting, super funny, and he’s bold in a way like nobody else. He says what’s on his mind. If he’s thinking it, he says it.  I’ve done this a long time and oftentimes people will adjust their natural personalities to pander to what they think the audience wants to hear, and Mark will tell people what he thinks, and he doesn’t care if it’s not a popular opinion. It gives him an edginess that I think is really missing in the landscape today. Everybody’s so afraid to say anything, and Mark is unafraid to say exactly what he’s thinking.”

In a statement, Debra O’Connell, President News Group and Networks, Disney Entertainment shared, We could not be more thrilled with how Mark has seamlessly joined the show family as permanent co-host. His undeniable charisma and his and Kelly’s natural chemistry are evident as they deliver the laughs and smiles to our viewers each morning. We are incredibly proud of how Live has continued to evolve and that the audience is responding so enthusiastically.”

So, do you think Mark Consuelos is the best co-host his wife Kelly Ripa has ever had on ‘Live’? How would you say he is doing as co-host after one full year on the job? Comment below.
