Rosie Perez Expected To Be Dropped From THE VIEW!

The View continues to be quite the daytime drama!  Now comes word that it looks like new co-host Rosie Perez is on her way out!

According to The Wrap:  An insider said that the ABC network has reached the conclusion that it has steered the current panel too old.   ABC now wants to look at replacements for Perez who appeal to young viewers.  Orange Is the New Black star Laverne Cox and Glee alum Naya Rivera are on the preliminary short list.”

Meanwhile, Rosie has been on hiatus from the morning talker while doing a new play, and it looks like she won’t be returning.   In recent weeks, a number of guest hosts have appeared to fill in for Perez … and for Whoopi Goldberg who has been off the show with a herniated disc.

Has The View become unwatchable?  Would you give Rosie Perez the boot? Do you think the talk show needs to skew younger to appeal to younger viewers with a new co-host they can relate to? Comment below!

I think the show has reached it’s end. I don’t think it is about younger hosts, democrat/republican or being combative on screen. I think it is about chemistry, having a true point of view and knowledge of what you speak. The View hasn’t had any of the above in years. I don’t find backstage fights, egos and the flavor of the week/month/year interesting. The Talk has been successful, without the drama and The Today Show with Hoda and Kathie Lee, as well, even though I feel like I am coming down from a sugar high, after watching the latter.

Rosie has to go but mostly that Nicole- she just needs to have a show of her own coz she is so fake and rude– no one can get a word in –she refuses to take a breath once she gets the floor. and not only that…SHE IS SO DAMN BORING! Hate her skinny lips and kiss ass to whoopi. Act like she is the expert on any subject-Get rid of her FIRST AND FOREMOST. I CAN NOT WATCH THIS SHOW ANYMORE!

I like Rosie P but she is so out of her element on The View. She hasn’t really improved since the first episode, stutters and stammers when trying to make a point and just really brings little to the table IMHO. Also, with Whoopi out, Rosie O has really finally hit her stride filling in as the moderator. I know they won’t take the moderator role away from Whoopi once she’s back but Rosie O does a much better job. I’d really like to see Rosie O as the moderator along with Nicolle, Laverne Cox and a rotating 4th co-host (Whoopi, Barbara W, Mario C, etc).

Goodbye. I don’t watch. Don’t like the co-hosts.

Hi Mo,
If you do not watch, how do you judge not liking the panel? I like to give everyone a chance….then again, it’s your right to do as you please. Later.

No interest in watching this show anymore… Whoever was in charge of the adding the Rosie, Rosie and the other new person(can’t even remember her name) did a very bad job in casting the new show.. Lets hope those people are also losing their jobs or at least on probation without a raise!!

I watched the first two episodes this year.. and have not watched since.. Really….. they go rid of the table…. and all sat in chairs in the open segment??????? Producing of the show could be better also..

Lots of issues all around with this show..

Don’t watch.. either working or its boring. Also, I try not to watch ABC after they cancelled OLTL

DROP THE ENTIRE SHOW!

ms.Perez is a GREAT actress. Look at any of her work. The View is not for her. It was at times painful to watch, uncomfortable. Really.

Ms Cox would be groundbreaking and is a natural as host. Hire her! ms. Rivera is also fabulous! She is impossibly attractive but ABC should also put a ring on that!

The View has been unwatchable for years. It jumped the shark waaaaay back in the day.

I really like Rosie Perez….very intelligent and honest. I have a little trouble understanding her speech, at times, but one overlooks that because of her personality. What I don’t understand is why target her?
That is not to say I would not appreciate a younger panelist ….still, why Perez?
So, if ye gods have spoken, I would love to see Naya Rivera as a permanent fixture. I am a loyal watcher of the view, which is coming on in twenty minutes, LOL….Ms Rivera is very well-spoken and seems well-centered….good luck, Rosie.

I’ve watched the new View twice since the new cast began and, I, too, had a hard time understanding Perez’ speech. Plus, she was clearly out of her element and that table is only big enough for one Rosie. The View has become unwatchable, even worse than before the new hosts joined. I watched an episode recently only due to a specific guest, and I was shocked at how little those yentas let the guest talk. The hosts went on and on with their boring opinions and barely let the guest speak.

Drop garbage like this and bring back a combo of ALL MY CHILDREN and One Life to Live – I know, I know – it won’t happen but it should.

Love that idea, but why not dump shows such as Rachel Ray or The Chew?
I stopped watching The View when Sherri Shepard of the earth-is-flat-club and Jenny McCarthy of I-don’t inoculate-my-children-club dominated the format with their silliness and their relentless avoidance of real topics. It had turned into The Dumber and Dumber celebrity gossip show. Now they’re back to discussing relevant topics. I love Rosie O and Whoopi together–love that they are able to disagree on important topics and still remain civil. I also Love Nicole Wallace as she lends a cool, conservative voice of political experience and knowledge to the panel.
Rosie Perez? I like her but this format isn’t for her. She often repeated misinformation, and she seemed to take it personally if anyone disagreed with her. Her speech was too rapid and littered with a copious usage of”ums” and “ands.” Listening to her is like listening to a ten year old girl trying to tell you what happened at school that day. She seems so nervous she makes ME nervous just watching her. The show runs much smoother without her. Sorry, Miss Perez! I so wanted to like you too!

“…She seems so nervous ”

I have always liked, Rosie Perez, personality…. and that’s neither here nor their…. perhaps… for this show

I am just delighted to have her back in the airwaves… for however long this ride

I do agree.. that her speech patterns are obvious… and …

when they were announcing the new panel… i couldn’t believe that one of my choices for new co-host made it

Whoopie, Rosie O., Rosie P., and I wanted Jennifer Tilly

it’s so nice to see one of your favorite personalities… back… so it’s been sweet

oye! for those of us middle age plus… all of our favorite stars… be it : TV – movies – music… are all out of the loop and retiring !!!! ???? argh! fading spotlights

Great response Harry! My feelings on Perez Exactly. There were times when she was getting ready to talk I would grab the mute button because I was scared of what she would say and how she would say it. She is a teletext actress, however!

I wish, Bruce. I don’t mind THE VIEW, I, too, would want both AMC and OLTL back, but I believe THE VIEW should stay put. It never interfered with the soaps.
I agree with Harry. Rachel Rey (there is nothing spectacular about her cooking…well, I like her pots and pans and thingymajigs….that’s it…lol) became so famous due to Oprah, as did Dr. Phil. THE CHEW is another waste of time. Every channel has some kind of food segment or show. Why? Don’t Giada deLaurentis, Lydia what’s- her-name and so many others have enough exposure on the cooking channel and PBS?
Also, I appreciate a certain amount of intelligence from the panelists….after Jenny’s exit (thank God), we are graced with a little more class.
Similarly, with the exception of Julie Chen, THE TALK ‘s panelists aren’t that exceptional. Sharon Osbourne’s reputation precedes her. Look to her husband for reference…ugh! A British accent does not intelligence make. Most are semi-illiterate…LOL. Yes, the women of THE TALK probably read and prepare themselves for the next day and the subject at hand; but, if faced with a fresh, pertinent and ‘brainy’ question out of left field, these women would not be able to give a learned, intelligent answer.
Elizabeth Hasselhoff was such a panelist….it’s called natural, innate intelligence. I loved her. I appreciated her thought-process and brain. Nonetheless, she was not too well received, mainly by women. Why? Women can be very catty and envious of other women, whom they feel are a little above the norm….that is, intelligence wise. As a woman, I appreciate and respect independent, intelligent women with a certain amount of savoir-faire….WOMAN POWER !!
Let’s give these new panelists, that make THE VIEW, a chance.

Yes let’s never forget the soaps that were snuffed out before their time.

I knew once Rosie O’donnell came back it would be the end. She has this superiority complex like most of her peers. Her way or the highway. This show is not needed anymore, they repeat crap that’s already been said by the morning news and TMZ.

It is a talk show, Effie. That is the point. To discuss what is newsworthy. I appreciate the differences of opinion, always with an open mind. I can assure you that Rosie O does not have a superiority complex. She is a hard-working woman who has made a life for herself and her children against so many odds.

And, Patrick? I am so with you on the age thing. I would rather hear wise words from someone who has earned her/his stripes, as you so appropriately wrote. Plus, how young is one supposed to be on this panel? A teen? Good grief….all these naysayers….especially those who assume they “know” these women. They are real people we are discussing, not characters on a soap.

I don’t know what you’re talking about. I haven’t read any comments about anyone comparing these women to characters on a soap. You see Rose one way and I see her another. I don’t need to know her personally to form an opinion on how she conducts herself on TV.

I was not addressing you, penny. So, I don’t know what YOU are talking about.

You have completely misinterpreted my comment…so, no point explaining. Let’s just say I wish to end this, with all due respect. We are all entitled to our opinions. Effie opined and so did I. Okay? Bye.

what bugs me the most : “… ABC network has reached the conclusion that it has steered the current panel too old. ”

what about earning your stripes ! these are viable interesting people.

Whoopie and Rose Perez are like bestie BFF. they are both having a blast together!
Nicole, makes it seem like , YES, a republican, CAN have FUN. I am enjoying her
bang her up all you can…. Rosie O’Donnell… is amiable, spirited, bonded, and YES… as we know her to be… will staunch and amplomb her opine… she’s a beacon for many cause and effect…

geez! for all the guest hosts they’ve had… and will…. to bring in “younger” cache’…. LOL.. which , surprisingly, the only one that has made an impact… IS… Laverne Cox… you want spitfire and equal representation… hire her… she’s busy with orange is the new black… but… go their

Rosie Perez does stammer and her voice is pitched… SO WHAT ?! she’s new at this gig… and I applaud her…. and YES, I want her latina flava flav ON

the view is my new show again… over all the talk

Good points, Patrick. I agree with all of them except I do not think Rosie Perez is cutting it.

Quite honestly none of those women represent the viewpoints of anyone. Rosie O’Donnell thinks she speaks for many but she only speaks for herself. Whoopi Goldberg is so biased it’s beyond ridiculous. Rosie Perez can not speak without a script and is unsuitable for a talk show. And that other person is so dull and out of touch that I can’t even bother to remember her name. I realize she is the “conservative” voice but she doesn’t speak for any one. The show is a waste of time and is uncomfortable to watch. Cancel it. Put all those women out of their misery. Once Joy Behar left there was no reason to watch.

I do really miss Joy.

Same here. Joy was a joy. Her sarcasm is very similar to yours, Harry….LOL.

Thank God for Whoopi Goldberg! If and when I watch The View it is ONLY because of Whoopi! No Whoopi and the advertisers on The View would have NO exposure to my pocketbook!

I don’t really care one way or the other. I think ABC has messed up this show by tampering with it. The vision for the show came from Barbara Walters and not from ABC. They should have let Barbara Walters do whatever she wanted, assuming they did not.

Rosie Perez should be replaced with Perez Hilton or Chaz Bono.

I seriously doubt that will happen because the show is about women co-hosts expressing their views. Men were suggested in the last cast change and the answer was no! Chaz Bono could be invited, but she might not appreciate the invitation because she now considers herself a man. So that’s out too.

The suggestion of having a man as co-host, a transexual as co-host is a good example of “messing up” The View. Men and transexuals should be guests not co-hosts because the premise of the show is to have women co-hosts expressing their views. If ABC wants a talk show about homosexuals and transexuals expressing their views then they should create one. But don’t take a show with a different premise and turn it into something that it is not just because the show’s name is “The View”. You know there is such a thing as false advertising. That would definitely be a good example of false advertising!

Would not ever watch anything that Rosie O’Donnell was on.

Agreed.

I really do love Nicole Wallace on The View she is funny and enjoyable and very educated. She’s exceptional. While I do love Rosie Perez, I don’t feel The View is for her, she never seemed to look and feel comfortable. I would love Laverne Cox to join the show, she is an important voice and has great strength and courage as a woman. Her story is important and she’s co-hosted many times and fits in so well. I also think, Mario Cantone finally deserves a seat at The View table. Before the new season started, I supported an all woman cast, however, for the sake of the survival of the show, I’d like to see Mario and Laverne join the show. Also I would like to see Joy Behar come back to guest co-host, when need be. And finally, Barbara Walters is fantastic when she makes her sporadic ‘drop-ins’…I’d enjoy having Barbara more often.

Thank you, Jeremy…..we are of a mind. We do appreciate intelligent panelists who are capable of speaking on any subject without resources or references. Ms Wallace is such a person.

They need to cancel the show at this point. GOOD MORNING AMERICA should extend itself like the TODAY show has.

I like that idea, Todd. But, the show would lose its original concept….that is, all women panelists. I am not very happy with the hodge podgy, motley crue arrangement either; but, these women do deserve a chance. We may be pleasantly surprised.
To compare THE VIEW with THE TALK , as some posters have, is not fair. This concept , women’s views, women’s feeligs, women in politics etc. was borne of one ground-breaking woman—–Barbara Walters. No one will ever be able to fill her shoes; neither the women of THE VIEW, nor the apers of THE TALK.

When will ABC learn? If they want to save daytime they need to bring back Olne Life and All My Kids. It’s that simple. I wonder if thereven think about the potentially ratings and publicity bonanza they could garner by reviving these fan favorites. Talk is Boring- bring back the resal daytime drama!

I don’t even recognize this show anymore, so I don’t personally care if it ends.

I’ve never cared for The View but now you couldn’t pay me to watch. the moderator is repulsive and Rosie turned me off years ago. I also think the show has run its course, formats get old. I would love GMA in this time slow, which will probably happen next year.

Now that the news division controls The View’s budget, it seems more likely GMA would go to a 3d hour vs. ABCD being involved. Therefore I wouldn’t get my hopes up that daytime dramas are coming back as AMC, OLTL, or other. Half of the years this show has been on there has been internal strife. The show is done in my opinion.

There is one reason the View will never be successful and the reason why The Talk is. It is called respect for each other’s opinions and differences.

I love the View. I think they should bring Joy Behar back a few times a week and Mario Capone weekly. Lately, even though I like her, it seems as if Nicole Wallace has taken over the show. The show needs to be more balanced again, and she needs to give the others a chance to give their opinions as well.

I agree with you, Abruzzfan. This is why I suggest we give the newbies a chance. Nicole is finding her see legs and testing the waters. She is used to dealing mostly with men, therefore , I believe she comes out as being forceful. I am sure, she will find her niche, and calm down…LOL.

I don’t like the TALK – it is a cheap imitation. I have no interest in hearing what any of those women have to say.

I think the show is working fine, why fix something that’s NOT BROKEN. if Rosie Perez wants to leave then let her. But to start having only young kids you will be throwing the View in the toilet… come on you went younger when Barbara Walters left so stay with your panel

Perhaps some of you have missed how informed and intelligent Rosie Perez is!!!! She is also caring and sweet.
Nicole talks too fast and needs to stop going on about being a Republican.. however she IS funny and has much to contribute.
If you don’t like the show, pls tune out. I think it is much better and more fun since the STIFF Barbara Walters left!! To Each His Own!
