The Revolution continues to be a huge bust in the ratings … leaving OLTL fans outraged!

Courtesy/ABC

While ABC Daytime’s decision to decimate their line-up of daytime dramas, was due in large part to the belief that they can put out to the viewing public less expensive and cheaper production replacement programming to replace the soaps, and do it with content that is informational for women, is proving to be a huge bust! Well, at least where One Life to Live’s replacement, The Revolution is concerned!

The Revolution in week four of its programming life, had abysmal ratings! According to TV Media Insight for the ratings week of February 6-1oth, 2012, “Based on the Live Plus Same Day ratings, week four of The Revolution averaged 1.52 million viewers (versus 1.44 million one week earlier), which dipped by 43 percent compared to year-ago occupant One Life to Live.

Erosion demographically was as much as 50 percent as follows:  One Life to Live – Week of 2/07/11
Viewers: 2.69 million, Women 25-54: 1.4/ 8, Women 18-49: 1.0/ 6, Women 18-34: 0.5/ 4 The Revolution – Week of 2/06/12 Viewers: 1.52 million, Women 25-54: 0.7/ 4, Women 18-49: 0.5/ 3, Women 18-34: 0.4/ 2 Percent ChangeThe Revolution vs. One Life to Live Viewers: -43, Women 25-54: -70, Women 18-49: -50, Women 18-34: -20

However, ABC is feeling good about their decision to replace All My Children with The foodie show, The Chew!  As for The Chew for this ratings period as compared to All My Children, the for the ratings week were seven percent in total viewers (2.57 to 2.38 million), eight percent in women 25-54 (1.2/ 7 to 1.1/ 6) and 13 percent in women 18-49 (0.8/ 5 to 0.7/ 5).  Results were equal among women 18-34.   This begs the question, have some of the soapers decided to give The Chew a try?

Meanwhile, die-hard and long time One Life to Live fans who have now gone over a month plus now of not having their favorite soap on-air are left scratching their heads, wanting to believe that the network will see the error of their ways and give life back to Llanview, while others believe that ABC will just put up another show of the same ilk as The Revolution but just revise the concept.   Whatever the case, with General Hospital in dire need of ratings and The Revolution tanking, how can this be good for the ABC programming block?   Soapers, let us know your thoughts!

This is absolutely crazy. Is ABC trying for bankruptcy, so it can get out from under Disney? I can’t think of another reason for such a suicidal move to make daytime on ABC a total wasteland. I’m certainly not watching either of the new infomercial shows. They’re idiotic, condescending and degrading to women (and men). Thanks, but my tv will be off until/unless they return OLTL to the airwaves.

So much for their idea that we’re mere sheep that will watch anything during those hours.

As a replacement show, how about the Real Housewives of Llanview? 😉

as long as it is scripted ,Id watch.dorian and vicki ,tia and blair, now they were the first real housewives.oh,cant forget linsey and nora.

That would be a terrific idea for a Reality Show – since ABC wants Reality on their Network. I’d watch it, Barbara!!!

Mark: I’m with you and Barbara – that would make a great reality show with our glamorous housewives of Llanview. I’d love to see Dorian and Viki in a food fight -what a fun idea!!! We need to alert ABC writers/producers to this great idea for a terrif Reality Show!!!

OLTL is so missed but looks as if ABC/D doesn’t care if anyone watches the replacement shows or not. I will never ever watch anything ABC day or night except GH. I can;t believe that anyone watches the Chew either. Susan Lucci said it best–
a deadly combination of arrogrance and ignorance.

I miss OLTL so badly and am so happy that the Revulsion is bombing! I have to believe that someone somewhere will realize the potential profitability of OLTL and the huge audience that is just out there waiting, and produce the show!! I dont care where, cable, internet whatever!! Just miss Llanview!
I have no faith in ABC to “do the right thing” they have done nothing but manipulate us for the past year!

They are not going to listen to the fans. You’re right, they’ll replace that stupid show with yet another. As for resurrecting Llanview, I think the hopes for that are dismal as so much time goes by and the actors and crew are signing on to other shows and pursuing other projects. If it does come back, it will probably be with all new actors and writers and will be a shell of itself. I tune into ABC/Daytime at precisely 3:01 to catch GH and once that goes, it will be turned off in my house for good. Fools, they are.

I said it once…..big boo boo abc. I gave u 43years..that’s it for me to hello cbs an nb !:/

I’m down with you, Denise, but once B&B (my new daytime fave) is over, that 2:00 hour is so depressing!

I know what you mean, today after B&B I had a momentary flicker of anticipation, like yea, OLTL is next, only to quickly remember that it’s not. In my town OLTL came on at 1 p.m.-the most depressing hour of my day now. I used to wake up in the morning excited about that damned show, that’s how much I love it. Now there is a huge void in my life.

Be bold and cancel general hospital and return one life to live to the air , we all know there will only be room for one soap on abc, and that’s if they allow that to happen. I have been a fan if both shoes for 30 years, but at this point rebuilding landview is the only thing that makes sense, I do have faith in the team in place at GH now, but honestly so much damage has been done to that show, like all my children , that with Disney in charge, the will never be given the time to really fix the show, so let’s go back to landview!

music to my ears, yesterday I heard they are still giving 30 bucks to those poor people who agree to watch that crap, but now they are not asking for people to view the revolution, now its called, untitled network talk show.30 dollars is not enough money for anyone with a thinking brain to go in for 4 hours and be bored beyond anything they have ever, in there life ,been through.can it be worse then going to your doctor waiting patiently for your name to be called ,or standing in a grocery store with several people before you and there are cash registers that are closed ,or maybe you feel so over whelmed in the dentists chair waiting for the drill to start up again.not now or ever will I watch abc s the revolution, and I am sure abc will replace it with another garbage dump show unless they keep general hospital ,which we will be finding out whether its stays or goes, read that there will be a decision in a few weeks.why abc had to go and cancel a perfectly good soap for this garbage is such an insult to the soap fans ,and I am running out of words to what I can call this cheep programming ,and I dont understand who is watching the chew also heard that stupid show is doing ok,get use to it soap fans but it looks like our daytime television viewing is changing and its not for the better.but there is one bright spot and thats ,the revolution is not any better since the first day abc took off one life to live .and abc has to know ,they screwed up at the 2 oclock spot and told me that a soap that I watched for 43 years will no longer be available ,because we dont care.

YES! I read the same thing, and it’s only $30 for “a 4 hour commitment”. You’d have to pay me 5 times that to sit thru a live on-air taping. Talk about desperate.

I dont understand why abc doesnt just cancel the stupid show already,if it was in prime time it would be gone by now.

ABC just put back AMC and OLTL because, you’ll see your ratings and money sky rocket.

I have not watched CHEW or REVOLUTION and will not but from reportage here and elsewhere, CHEW has a couple of personalities I think are more watchable than some on the REV team. Also, food is a more logical center of conversation than rapid makeovers. REV’s concept in description seems a little aimless. And CHEW is on at 1 PM instead of 2 PM. Makes snese why CHEW is doing better. That said, both shows are weak in content and presentation, I am guessing, or they’d be hits. They are not. I do miss CHILDREN and ONE LIFE. I miss ATWT and GL. Even AW! I pray for GH and its renaissance. I believe in the new blood and energy there.

Michael, the only way I would EVER watch ABC network during the day is if OLTL came back. What a travesty to cancel beloved shows for this nonsense and garbage that are polluted on our television already! I want to watch GH but can’t bring myself to. as it is just not the same without Melissa Archer and the chemistry she shares with Michael Easton, and I am a huge fan of his. It’s a shame that once golden beloved iconic shows have to be replaced by such garbage that ABC force feeds it’s viewers. I say put them all out of work at the ABC network until they right their wrong! BRING BACK OLTL!!

I wonder if ABC really cares about the ratings, or figures they just want to save money and OLTL was expensive to produce. No soap fans will ever watch the REvolution, and people who were not soap fans see nothing worth watching in the Revolution. If ABC does not want OLTL they should give it away (if they don’t want it= why charge) or sell rights very cheaply. Anyone reading this from a network or online entity- we’ll watch you like crazy and loyally if you give us OLTL 2.0

What I dont understand is all the hype with talk shows and celebrity reality shows are people really watching joan and melissa please dont say it is so i loved one life would watch on ABC .com and I also love a good movie all that is lost on TV know a days doesnt seem any reason any more to even have cable

“Fans” would have been outraged if the revolution did well or poorly. Sad to say it’s over OLTL…time to let go.

ABC put out a casting call for audience members for The Revolution… yup $30 per person to sit in the audience and look like u r having fun!
So, they can’t get a studio OR viewing audience… yet they’d rather air this dismal attempt at a talk show instead of OLTL?
This tells us exactly what ABC thinks about scripted story telling… and for this reason, I fear it does not bode well for the future of GH. 🙁

I keep thinking there will be a promo saying “fans you’re getting what u want. Coming this May, OLTL returns”!!!!! I don’t watch “The Chew” or the “Revolution”. IT’s all mundane and boring. Keep hoping ABC changes their minds. Please!!!!!!

From your lips to God’s ears.

Shame On You–Both ABC & Brian “Butthead” Frons!

One difference between the Revolution and the chew, is the chew is up against 2 soaps. The revolution is up against (at least in Orlando) up against THE TALK and ANDERSON. That is 3 talk shows. 3 you have 3 shows competing for the same viewers. It’s called counter programing. 3 drama’s or 3 sitcoms competing at night would not be real successful. The daytime landscape used to be more diverse with DRAMA’S game show’s talk shows and repeats of prime time shows. Probably didn’t help the soaps that we have had 3 drama’s competing at the same time, for these last years.

Here in Sacramento the Chew is competing against the noon news on NBC and on CBS its competing against the the local news show for 30 minutes and the Bold and the Beautiful for the other 30 minutes while the Revolution is competing against the Talk on CBS and Days of Our Lives on NBC.

will never give up abc made a real big mistake by canceling both soaps it is pretty bad when you have to pay people to be in audience

People, come on!! If you are watching that horrible Chew show, PLEASE stop!! ABC will not get the point if we cave!! Do we want reality programming or our soaps?

They should have just done the whole natural disaster thing and created 1 new show where a bunch of the characters end up to combine viewers of all 3 soaps. Though not idea, I would have been okay with that and I’m sure most fans would agree that a combined show is better than no show. I am beyond irritated at this point. I started watching GH again because I NEEED at least 1 soap in my life!! but I’m really concerned that GH will be torched as well. Makes me sick. Life is not the same without these shows– I need my daily fantasy back! 🙁

As for THE CHEW- I can see why that one is doing alright– everyone can enjoy a food show, but the revolution… no one wants to watch that junk every single day. It wouldn’t surprise me if THE CHEW loses steam at some point as well… not sure there are enough recipes to fill up the next 40 years. 😉

Don’t like cooking shows at all!!!!!!!!!!Especially The Chew..,..Carla is so goofy!!! The whole show is RETARDED!!!!!!!!!! The revolution falls in that catorgory also!!!

The network only cares about money. It’s all about the bottom line, and that’s it. Decision makers in America, be they corporate or government, do not care what the average person thinks or feels or wants. It’s all about spin and putting on a smile while they screw us; but if we speak out, we’re unreasonable, undiplomatic and disagreeable. That’s just the way it is in 21st century America. Long live ONE LIFE TO LIVE.

It was a huge mistake to cancel the soaps! Bring them back. People have enought reality/lifestyle nonsense. Just Stop ramming it down our throats and bring us back our soaps!

YESSSSSS!

Ten months after the cancellation bomb shell, I continue to ask the same question; why was OLTL cancelled? It made no sense to me at all (still doesn’t). Boy ABC is really in dire straits regarding daytime decisions. What to do, what to do with replacement #2? Are they really willing to risk replacement #3 tanking because of poor lead in ratings? GH’s ratings are low due to the hideous ratings of replacement #2. I’m no TV expert, but it doesn’t take rocket science to figure that out. Maybe it was the plan all along, who knows.

I love the CHEW….but absolutely HATE…the revolution…it’s like watching paint dry…I have never never liked Ty Pennington…or Tim Gunn….PLEASE bring back…ONE LIFE TO LIVE…

The soaps have a MAJOR enemy and her name is Anne Sweeney. OLTL could never return and GH will not survive as long as she is at ABC.

Intersting numbers for the Chew, some thought they did well because of the holiday shows. I’ve seen it a few times, the 2 women are pretty good. ABC is cleaning up on the switch from AMC to the Chew. Darn.
I have not seen 2 seconds of the Revolution, sounds too intense for a mid day show. People want to escape their problems. I’ll bet they are coming up with a replacement for the 2pm slot. It won’t be a soap. ABCD will not go back. They’ll cancel GH and be done with the soap genre.
I don’t plan to watch Katie C, Cannot stand her.

GH is suffering because of the weak lead in from the Repulsion. The Chew numbers are a mystery and I bet ABC is manipulating the numbers to make it seems like it is a better show than AMC. I watch the Food Network Channel for a reason and only they will get my viewership for any type of food programming. The Chew is a sad replacement show that will not last and the Revolution really only has one life to live and that will end very soon!

I have no confidence whatsoever in our favorite soaps ever returning….none. ABC will never concede to our sentiments or our outrage.

The further dismal ratings for (now) GH will only add further fuel (probably) to axe our last ABC soap and it wouldn’t surprise me to be learning of such a decision too, by oh, say about April 2012…(‘seems to be the favorite month networks announce soap canceliing–ie. GL in 2010 and AMC / OLTL last yearl)

After all, “gotta make room for good ‘ole Katie Couric in September you know, — on all those ABC affiliates!

In the meantime?…., my personal ABC boycott continues.
And, even with yet MORE fervour, too!

from what I heard at another sight ,abc will be making a decision in the next few weeks,at least we will know one way or the other ,I also continue to boycott abc and I let them know it a few times every day.they have cancelled so many shows that I liked ,boston legal ,brothers and sisters ,v ,there are A few others my point is ,Im not missing anything on abc because they are willing to let a show go ,even with good ratings ,I dont think that abc will ever have the day time fan base that they use to have ,Ive been watching the abc soaps since the beginning of general hospital ,and if they cancel it ,there goes the only hour I was willing to spent at abc/disney,I wont be missing anything of importance, not anymore.I take it you dont like katie couric either ,what a waste of money.

I LOVE Revenge. I can’t boycott. But I won’t watch OWN! I started to watch something the other day and I didn’t know it was OWN until a commercial came on….and I changed!!

(barbara t)….I don’t personally dislike Katie Couric, but I’m tired of her liberalism, if I may be so honest! The thought of working her once again into network television right in the midst of these changing tides of daytime makes my blood boil.

CBS putting her on the evening news a few years back was simply awful judgment IMHO and the ratings decline over there proved it. What an insult to their loyal conservative viewership who made the CBS evening news popular for years and years. When Walter Cronkite and Dan Rather faded, so did the CBS loyal viewership.

And then? What did they do at CBS?…They switched gears and went for the younger demos…brought in Katie C. All fresh from NBC Today, the sure bets were on Katie! She’ll SAVE the evening news!

(…..it didn’t work)

LOL…When she first started at CBS, I recall Katie’s greeting to begin the evening news….something laid back and resembing …”Hey, how’s it going?”
(she eventually went BACK to the tried and proven “Good evening” and then went from there to the first story) Scott Pelley (current CBS evening anchor) has resumed much of the conservative approach as modeled years and years before him.. At least the CBS on-air product seems more credible again.

All the while though, with dear lil’ Katie plugging along, trying to find her niche and making her blemished mark, , I was there at home killing myself laughing!

The point is a network was second-guessing the audience and misinterpreting what was really wrong. They totally over-reacted and screwed up big-time. But they never admitted to it! Oh no. They just quietly slipped the whole matter under the rug and shhhhhhhh ! ( whispering) “Just don’t mention it ever again!)”
Yeh…right.

So, now, we have the same stupidity going on with DAYTIME TV….cancelling soaps! HISTORICAL Legendary soaps! I mean, just five years ago, WHO would have thought it? Yet? elsewhere in the world? soaps are THRIVING.
In Europe. In Latin America…..so, what are THEY doing right and we’re not?

The entire genre of talk shows, game shows, and “reality shows” (for me) has become extremely nauseating……I proudly declare that I represent “the older generation” (okay, “baby boomer”) and it’s my generation which is NOT being listened to nor respected by these nitwit network decisions.

HEY ! My age group buys products too, and just several months ago, I heard a reputable TV / Advertising / Marketing report stating that advertisers had better wake up and recognize “baby boomers” as the target audience for the future and not the younger demographics which have traditionally been the main focus.

MY generation and even those coming after me STILL ENJOY SOAPS!
How irritating we’re not being listened to ! …that our loyalty to soaps is being forgotten. All those years and years of viewing and supporting soaps!

Soaps have been in my life ALL of my life. No, I haven’t always stayed glued to the TV when they’ve aired but they provided me “background” to my everyday life and yes, something to look forward to. At least, they were always there when I wanted them to be! I’ve also seen these programs mean a lot to relatives and friends confined at home or in convalescence centers and hospitals. So, now? what are these folks doing to help “fill their day”? …Are they sitting there watching numbskulls chit chat about recipes or bizarre off-the wall decorating or fashion “trends”?……I mean….really? Is that “stuff” helping divert their attention from real life for awhile? Or, is it only adding to their stress level? (btw, I’m betting they’re ‘stressed’ just by having their soaps taken away from them… just like we are!)

This whole daytime TV “meltdown” is terrible, I even feel sorry for the actors, crew, and other staff members now– out there looking for work, picking up the pieces of THEIR lives. –The greedy networks couldn’t care less.

If my own boycotting ABC matters, then count me in. I’ve never gotten into GH myself, having been a loyal CBS soap fan most of my life. Just when I got used to OLTL (following CBS soaps cancellations) and was really beginning to love the ABC show!)….poof.

I’m reluctant to even try to catch on to GH at this point. I do sample it every now and then, but believe you me, I have Never, as in NEVER EVER allowed Chew or Revolution to even begin in my household each weekday afternoon. Nosiree. Never. I also don’t watch CBS’ “Talk” and “Let’s Make a Deal” either.

GH is not going to survive in its current timeslot!…sandwiched there in between that rotten meat–ie Chew and Revolution. ABC’s entire afternoon stinks from greedy rottenness. If GH gets rescheduled, would THAT even really help now? Hmmm, I’m not so sure.

Now, in all due respect to GH and its fans, I merely say this theoretically.
To REALLY teach ABC the ultimate lesson?
‘Just ‘let the network go ahead and put GH out of its misery and flat out cancel it.

And, then?……WHAT will they have, huh?

Absolutely NO soap fans will be left tuning in to the ABC network OR THEIR AFFILIATES !

….’sure would serve ’em right!

Sorry, but I’ll repeat the inevitable….”let ’em CHEW on THAT!”

everything you just wrote I agree ,but I think you forgot one thing ,and I read your post 3 times so maybe you dont remember ,but that first night katie courtic finished the evening news ,she got up walked to the front of the desk, sat on it crossed her legs ,thats when I laughed my ass off, didnt hear what she said, because I was in tears at that point ,how she brought sex in the news ,I said it before and I said it after her first day she will sink the cbs news and she did.and I hope her talk show fails to along with abc ,I love my soaps ,I miss all my children and one life to live ,and I will continue to boycott anything abc/disney,and like you said let them chew on that .and I love your post you wrote everything that I feel ,from the beginning to the end.

I dont know about where U live, but there is room for Kati in my market. She would come on at 4pm, as Oprah did, and the local news would resort back to airing at 5pm, as it had done for year’s after Oprah. I don’t understand all the fuss about making room for Kati, by axing General Hospital. There is room for Kati at 4pm, by moving the local news BACK to 5pm. No one wants to look at news from 4pm until 7pm anyway. That’s over-kill. 5pm until 7pm is more than enough news.

here it wouldnt work because ellen comes on after general hospital.what abc has to do is get rid of that pathetic show the revolution .no body watches it and I am sure abc is loosing money having to pay 30 $ for them to walk in and have to spent 4 hours of there lives bored to death .I say get rid of the revolution.you get your local news from 4 to 7? thats a long time .what the heck do that put on for 3 hours?the longest we have is 2 hours on fox and 1 and a half hours for the other networks.

Why hasn’t that train wreck of a show The Revolution been cancelled yet? ABC has no problem cancelling their Prime Time shows when they tank (Working It) so why don’t they do the same for Daytime, is it because they’re afraid that would be admitting that they made a HUGE mistake in cancelling OLTL? I think we all know the answer to that question.

While it’s always great to read about The Revolution tanking, this author from Media Insight TV seems to have a bias in favor of One Life to Live, meaning that what he says about The Revolution may all be wishful thinking.

For me to have insurance that The Revolution has a chance of getting cancelled to make room for General Hospital, I need to read the news on a third party source such as the NY Times, Hollywood Reporter, Deadline, EW, etc.

ditto Heather

As pissed off as I am about this whole thing, ABC will never bring back OLTL. I don’t have much hope for GH either… (sad). They deliberately moved RC to GH because they know HE will give us what WE want in the end. Scrap the newbies, bring back the Q’s, bring back the vets, and most of all tell good stories!! The ratings will rise, replacement #2 won’t be cancelled, but re-worked, and just maybe the soap viewers will fall in love with replacement #3 (please note readers this is not what I want, this is what I think will happen).
That said, it bears repeating because I believe ABC has interns and flunkies who read these boards. I’ve never seen a single episode of replacement #1 or #2 and I NEVER INTEND TO!. Furthermore, I refuse to watch #3 if you cancel GH. I belong to the coveted 18-49 demographic. I make most of my household purchases. I work, I shop, I go out. I have a family. I love the soaps, they are my escape. I have no interest in cooking, lifestyle, or news shows. I want my soaps and I will do my part to turn off ABC and support the remaining networks (including news and primetime). Please get a clue!

I miss the days when broadcasting was a public service and the Networks cared about what programing they put out over the airwaves. Unfortunately, today… all the networks are owned by corporate parents that care more for the bottom line than quality and what the viewers want. I have not watched ABC daytime from 12 noon onwards since they cancelled AMC and OLTL. I rarely watch any of ABC prime time lineup… and they seem to be cancelling the shows I enjoy. So… until the rat at Disney changes his mind… I’m not bothering to watch the American Banal Co.

Actually, you are right. You have brought up an important, perhaps overlooked issue here. The Federal Communications Act requires broadcasters to act “in the public interest.” This is because the spectrum (airwaves) are considered to be publicly owned. Clearly, the replacement show is proving not to be the greater public’s interest, but rather in the networks financial interest. While there has been much debate what that means, a knowledgable attorney may want to make a name for themselves by suing the network in the “public interest.” just a thought. 😉

I like it!!

Given the poor results from the revolution, abc may reconsider if the affiliates pressure them to. The meeting of ABC Affiliates is at The Langham Huntington Hotel in Pasadena May 21 and 22, 2012. These are the local abc TV stations. They are bound to be loosing money because of the revolution and they can put enormous pressure on the network. If soap fans would contact the General Manager of their local station and express how they feel. They can ask the GM to ask abc to bring back OLTL. Fans may aso want to protest at this meeting to get media attention. Its better than boycotts which abc don’t care about.

Unfortunately my ABC affiliate could care less if I watch their station. I had thought at least they would want me to watch their local news and syndicated programming, but they don’t. So, I do hope the dollar is talking to them now and they will squawk at ABC, but if all the affiliates are as stupid as mine, I doubt it.

Sorry to hear this. Some are like that, fortunately most local stations care what viewers think especially when you call the GM or owner, and it adversely affects their profits. Perhaps calling the owners of local business that advertise on them may help. I have been a part of groups which have done that and it worked. They eventually got the message.

WATCH DAYS OF OUR LIVES!!

KEEP SOAPS ALIVE!! FUCK REPLACEMENTS!!

DAYS/Y&R/B&B…lets show CBS/NBC how to NOT get it wrong like ABC has with OLTL/AMC and soon to be GH!

replacements are popping up all over the place and we have to boycott ,all food, talk ,reality ,all cheep programming of any kind, there all over the place ,and soon there will be no such thing as a scripted drama .because some one ,somewhere ,decided that there are idiots out there that want to see shows like that ,I for one dont, somewhere there should be a soap channel so we can view the old soaps and create new ones and bring back one life to live and all my children and any other soap that was wrongly cancelled.I would watch soap operas all day before I watch any of the trash the networks are trying like hell to make us watch now, leave the soaps alone.

I watched “One Life to Live” every weekday at 2:00. I watched this new replacement show “The Revolution” twice and did not like the people they have on there just don’t seem to connect. There was nothing there for me and I have switched off ABC and now watch some syndicated shows on other networks. I occasionally watch “The Chew” and the people on that show are much more in tune with viewers than those know-it-alls on “The Revolution” I say bring back “One Life to Live” and get this trash off the network or you lose this one viewer. ABC really dropped the ball on this one thinking anything but soaps are what they want and they did not listen to the people who watch them.

hey ,any relation to ozzie and harret?you shouldnt watch any shows on abc ,the crappy shows you are watching can be found all over when you channel surf ,why give abc the ratings ,you should watch general hospital ,todd blair and star will be in port charles soon.you should call .email, and write to abc telling them you hate there crappy shows and want one life to live back.I let them know several times a day.also on facebook there are several places to go to support the soaps.join swan ,we are hoping to get agnes nixon the rights back to her ,for all my children and one life to live , to go on to another network.how could you sit through even 5 seconds of the chew and the revolution ?the ads are bad enough.rick nelson ,start changing the channel,no more abc, just watch general hospital.

BRING BACK OLTL! Soap writers can bring back the dead so surely ABC can resurrect OLTL.

i have been watching one life to live and all my children for about 3 years now i fell in love with both them shows and then when i heard they were taking them off tv it broke my heart they could have put them on a difference channel or something i really hate what they did i miss my 2 soaps so bad bring back one life to live and all my children please

OK PEOPLE LETS GO ON STRIKE N HAVE SITOUTS BETWEEN 2 N 3PM AT ABC HEADQUARTERS OR ABC NEWS STATION WELL GIVE ABC A FRONT ROW SEAT IN FRONT OF THE NATION TO PUBLICLY SEE HOW WE FEEL WITH THEIR DECISION TO CANCEL OUR SOAPS SURELY SOMEONE WILL BRING THEM BACK IF WE ALL GO ON STRIKE AT ONCE! YEAH LETS DO THIS !!!!!!!

GET YOUR PICKET SIGNS READY PEOPLE CMON LETS PICK A DATE TO DO THIS!

Big mistake dropping One Life to Live.
This was my favorite show for years.
ABC does not seem to care about their viewers
elfman

I really miss One Life To Live! That was the best entertainment during the day time hours. I am praying that General Hospital does not get cancelled as it is the only thing that I watch during the day on ABC. I hate the Revolution and the Chew.

I don’t care what kind of other crap ABC will try to cram down our throats……..I won’t watch. ABC is dead to me!!!

I will NEVER watch The Chew or The Revolution. If any soap fans are watching The Chew, I will be very much surprised. Since it appears the rating for The Chew are rising, then maybe this show has taken over some of the Fans from other Food shows and even men watch some Food channels. Give it a little more time and I believe the ratings will drop for The Chew as well as The Revolution.

I wouldn’t watch ABC’s Oscar night if they put a “GUNN” to my head!

Did you see that Tim Gunn along with someone else from project runway are part of the lead in for the Oscars tonight?? I find it humorous that they keep referring to Tim Gunn as being the ‘fashion guru from Project Runway’ They need to update that to “one of the flunkies from that horrible Revulsion show that took over the time slot of one of ABC’s greatest shows for 43 years — ONE LIFE TO LIVE, but only because some idiots in charge thought that’s what the fans would like.” That’s a much better fitting description of Mr. Gunn!

I won’t be watching the Oscars on ABC-Duh channel tonight. I believe I’ll be watching old tapes of the shows I want to watch, One Live to Live and General Hospital!

me to.and the only satisfaction we get is that revolution show will not be the show that abc thought would bring in more viewers ,if this dumb show would have been on in prime time abc/disney would have canned it by now .so stupid to cancel one life to live ,the best soap ever for this trash ,it blows my mind ,there must be alot of stupid people who work for abc /disney.to think there are people who will watch this stuff and enjoy it I dont understand ,give me a scripted drama ,give me all my children and one life to live and keep general hospital.I cant see anyone watching the oscars either ,who wants to watch a room full of the most stuck up people in the world get there award for best whatever.

Still devasted over loss of OLTL. Will not watch ABC daytime with exception of GH,which by the way was not my fave. I tried watching CBS/NBC soaps but am not familiar with story line. If I want to watch TV at 1:00 I will listen to The Talk on CBS. I, too, like the idea of the Real Housewives of Llanview. ABC should bring back OLTL..they can always streamline with fewer characters. Or, perhaps, bring it to primetime since 1/3 to 1/2 of ABC shows are really worthless.

listen bring back one life to live give the chew and the rev another time slot on the food network chalk it up i will respect you better if you admit you made the wrong decision and bring us back our soaps

….can not /will not tolerate “soap opera” type shows…on my days off and after work, I watch The Chew, Revolution, The Doctors & other talk shows while multi-tasking and learn new things at the same time ..with these shows, you can do while listening..

Nancy Lee Grahn’s Star-Studded ALS Fundraiser Reveals “I’ll Be There” Video Featuring Soap Opera Notables

Talk about your impressive line-up! It’s a soap fans dream and for a great cause. General Hospital’s Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) is prepping her one-night only ALS fundraiser which will feature many of her friends and co-stars.

The benefit is set for May 4th in Glendale, California. Slated to participate are Genie Francis, Jane Elliot, Peter Bergman, Maurice Benard, Eileen Davidson, Thorsten Kaye, Michelle Stafford, Stephen Nichols, Rena Sofer, Jason Thompson, Kelly Monaco, Melissa Claire Egan, Maura West, Kristina Wagner, Gregory Harrison, Trevor St. John, Kate Mansi, Kirsten Storms, Cynthia Watros, and many others.

On Wednesday, Grahn took to her social media and released an “I’ll be there” video shout-out featuring, Monaco, Elliot, Bergman, Bernard, West, Harrison, St. John and more. In a touching and important moment in the new video, Michelle Strogny, who is battling ALS, is featured.

Previously, in speaking with Soap Opera Digest on the impetus of the event, Grahn recalled, “I was actually doing Zoom events during Covid and I met this woman that I just fell in love with, Michelle Strojny. At the time, Michelle had been living with ALS for four years. Now, it’s five years. She is a mom of a teenage son, she has the most wonderful husband, and she has been dealing with this [disease] for quite a while. And obviously, there isn’t a cure yet. It’s not survivable yet. But as she says, it’s not incurable. Nothing is; it’s underfunded. But anyway, I just really dug this woman. She is so grounded and filled with grace, and she spends all of her time working to raise money for the cause. We did a fundraiser for her last year and then I thought, ‘You know what? The soaps don’t ever get together to do something for charity.’ Collectively, we have this amazing community and we don’t collectively use it for a good cause, and I think it’s such an easy thing for us to do and we could potentially really make a difference.”

As GH viewers know, Gregory Harrison is playing the character of Gregory Chase, who is also battling ALS in a touching storyline that is currently playing out shedding a light on this disease.

‘General Hospital’ Writer Shannon Peace Let Go, and Shares on Sprina: “One of My Only Regrets is to Not Have the Opportunity to Develop That ‘Ship’ Further”

As General Hospital’s new head writing team of Elizabeth Korte and Patrick Mulcahy gets off the ground and running, there are still changes a foot on the writing team.

Now comes word via breakdown writer Shannon Peace that she is no longer on contract with the long-running ABC soap heading into its 61st season. Peace shared a heartfelt message on her Instagram, thanking the fans, and the show for the opportunity and the importance of diversity in the writers room.

Peace began, “After almost 3 years on staff and 106 episodes penned, I am no longer on contract with General Hospital. Writing for this country’s longest running television serial drama has been an education of epic proportions; I will forever be grateful that I earned my WGA card on a daytime fixture that holds memories for so many.” (Peace pictured below with GH EP Frank Valentini and script writer, Charlotte Gibson from about ten months ago).

Shannon added “Even more importantly, as the sole Black breakdown writer (and only POC in the writers room) during my tenure, I pushed for vital interactions and discussions that prioritized inclusion, visibility, and representation”

The writer pointed to the example of vital interaction when in story, “Stella and Portia’s frank July 2022 conversation about the role race played in Esme’s framing of Trina is just one example of the impact I’m gratified to have had.”

Acknowledging former GH co-head writers was also part of Peace’s farewell expressing, “Appreciation to my former bosses, Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor – not only taking a chance on me, but for valuing my opinion and championing my voice.”

Many GH fans know that Peace was key to the development of the love story between Trina Robinson and Spencer Cassadine as played by Tabyana Ali and Nicholas Chavez. Shannon gave a special shout-out to ‘Sprina’ fans, “I also want to thank fans who were supportive of my work, especially the recognition of my love for ‘Sprina’. One of my only regrets is not having to develop that ‘ship’ further.”

She concludes her statement with,”In the aftermath of a historic writer’s strike that shed new light on the troubling ways writers are regarded in daytime, my sincere hope is that General Hospital recommits to valuing staff writer efforts and input, with a more intentional focus on diverse viewpoints — and thrives for another 60 years.”

Accompanying her post, Shannon added, “Thank you all for the love and support these last few years. I hope GH fans get all they hope for and more!”

So, what do you think about GH not renewing Shannon’s contract? Will there be more continued changes afoot? What do you think is the future of ‘Sprina’ anyway at this point as viewers wait to see if Nicholas Chavez officially returns to the show?  Comment below.
