Courtesy/NBC

If you have not caught NBC’s This Is Us, you better start now because it’s not going anywhere! The NBC touching, human drama has officially been renewed by the network for two more seasons! In fact, NBC ordered the upcoming seasons with a minimum of 18 installments each.

The series features an ensemble cast led by: Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Justin Hartley, Chrissy Metz, Sterling K. Brown, Susan Kelechi Watson, Chris Sullivan and Ron Cephas Jones.

As for Hartley, who soap fans miss as Adam Newman on Y&R, his performances as Kevin Pearson on the primetime series have made many take notice, and that there is an extraordinary future ahead for this talented gent.

Jennifer Salke, President, NBC Entertainment expressed: “We all got our wish that this is a hit show. This Is U is as good as anything we’ve ever had, we’re thrilled to renew it for two seasons and there’s no doubt it will have a long life on NBC. On behalf of everyone at NBC, we’re grateful for the artistry of the cast, crew, and producers assembled by our gifted creator, Dan Fogelman. In a world where there are literally hundreds of television dramas, we’re proud to have one of the very best that is also one of the highest-rated.”

According to an NBC  press release:  “This Is Us is averaging a 4.6 rating in adults 18-49 and 14.6 million viewers overall in ‘live plus seven day’ results from Nielsen Media Research, making it the #1 new show of the season in 18-49 and television’s #4 entertainment series in that key demographic.  It returned to the schedule this last week after a five-week break and set a new ‘live plus same day’ series record in adults 18-49 (3.0 rating). This episode also set a new series record in L+3 (18-49) with a 4.6 rating, delivering NBC’s top rating in the timeslot with scripted programming since April 2008.

To date, 72 million total viewers have viewed the first 10 episodes in some fashion on all platforms. Linear viewership plus views on all devices of the pilot episode since Sept. 20 stands at an estimated 10.0 rating in the 18-49 demo. The show to date is averaging an estimated 8.3 rating in 18-49 most current data (includes long-tail viewing through various number of days available per episode, i.e. 114 days for the pilot, 107 days for episode 2, etc.).  On digital platforms, This Is Us is NBC’s most-viewed series premiere on record,  more than doubling the network’s previous record for most one-day views of a debuting series across NBC digital platforms.

Happy to hear This Is Us received a phenomenal two-season pickup, and happy to see the success of Justin Hartley? Comment below!

Although I originally tuned in to see Justin Hartley, (secretly hoping the show would bomb, so he would return to The Young and the Restless), I am fully vested for the long run in this phenomenal series. The lead actors are doing a great job with the fantastic story line they have been given. Kudos also to Gerald McRaney. I always enjoy his recurring appearances. Good for you, NBC! You’ve got a winner!

Agree 100%!! I would not have checked it out had it not been for Justin, but I was hooked after the first show!! My new favorite show on all of television!!

phenomenal show and awesome acting – i am not surprised………..love the show!!

Absolutely, the casting, writing, directing, etc., etc., etc.,-all exceptional choices! It’s my favorite new show and I look forward to watching it and escaping for an hour; although, I usually cry from the first scene all the way through. It’s just so touching and it has its comedic points, as well.

This is great news. Last night’s episode was amazing. Gerald McRaney turned in a great performance. How great was it to see the beautiful Susan Blakely last night? Mandy and Milo need to submit their performances for the next Emmy Awards.

Unfortunately most of the Primetime Emmy Awards are going to cable shows or netflix shows these days, rarely has a network drama or comedy even make the nominations these days—-sigh

Of course it’s happy news. GH used to be this heart warming and emotionally intelligent at one time, pre-Guza. Glad I have a show geared toward me.

Justin Hartley, made a good move out of Y&R and into an advancing career..
Justin changing in Adam for Kevin Pearson was a great move, indeed ..
”This Is Us” is a favourite of mine..

I thought you only liked rape, murder, mobsters, and constsnt misery!! This show seems a little soft for you!

hi Jenny..
You ”thought” wrong..
Only certain characters that were created for be murdering mobsters are expected to deliver their dark side, not the whole of all the characters..

This is wonderful news. This Is Us is thoroughly entertaining television. I am completely blown away by the cast, their characters, the stories, and the production value. My most sincere thank you to everyone who makes this amazing series possible.

I just started watching this show and i have to say it’s phenomenal. The writing is the best I’ve seen on a show in a long time. Not one stone gets left unturned. Good to have a drama on our screens that make for a fast hour of viewing.

Thank God a real show with real characters who can act their butts off took off and is going to stay on the air for at least two more years! The writing is so good! Gerald McRaney is awesome!

My favorite show since St Elsewhere which says a lot…Phenomenal in every way.

” This Is Us” is a primetime Soap series, actually..
A never ending family story ..

these posts make it all seem logical

post your hearts worth… and it takes

it’s in wonderment… that a show appeals all of it

WOW.. I applaud

Cameron Mathison Previews New Game Show ‘Beat The Bridge’ (Promo)

As previously reported, Cameron Mathison (Drew, General Hospital) will be seen doing double duty this summer when he premieres in June as the host of Game Show Network’s Beat The Bridge.

Now, while Cameron will be the host with the most, that doesn’t mean he will stop playing GH’s Drew.  In fact, Mathison taped the game show in 2023, so it will now air for the first time in 2024.

Taking to his Instagram this week, Cameron shared his enthusiasm and some new hosting snaps, sharing, “Our newest game show host reporting for duty😎 Head over to the Game Show Network YouTube channel for your first look at the show and don’t miss Beat The Bridge premiering this June! I can’t wait for you guys to see this!”

In Beat The Bridge, an enormous interactive bridge dares players to cross by stepping on the right answers to challenging trivia questions. As they play, each steps forward and puts money in their team’s bank, with bonus money for each successful crossing. Here’s the catch: the team gets to keep the money only if it can “beat the bridge” by returning one of its players back across before time expires.

Meanwhile, on GH, Drew and Nina (Cynthia Watros) recently had hate-sex. Do you think its a one-time deal? Where will Drew’s story take him next under new head writers, Patrick Mulcahey and Elizabeth Korte? Stay tuned.

Now below, check out the first promo for Beat The Bridge from the Game Show Network with you host, Cameron Mathison.  Then, let us know, will you be checking out the game this summer? Share your thoughts in the comment section.

Kim Kardashian, Emma Roberts and Marlene King Land ‘Calabasas’, a Soap in the Vein of the ‘O.C’ and ‘Beverly Hills 90210’, at Netflix

There has been lot of soapy projects coming to life and in the works of late, and now comes word that Kim Kardashian is executive producing a new series in development for Netflix called Calabasas.

After a bidding war last week, it looks like Netflix cemented the development deal from Kim, and her producing partners American Horror Story co-star Emma Roberts (pictured below) and Pretty Little Liars creators Marlene King and Alexandra Milchan.

The concept of Calabasas is based on the book If You Lived Here You’d Be Famous By Now by Via Bleidner.  King set to write the adaptation and will serve as the series showrunner.

According to Deadline, Calabasas is said to be in the vein of primetime young teen and young adult soaps the O.C. and Beverly Hills 90210. The story follows “Via, a 16-year-old sheltered Midwestern Catholic school girl whose world is turned upside down when her family moves and she’s forced to transfer to the fast world of Calabasas High where nothing is as it appears and where everyone is trying to be someone else. It’s a place where dreams come true … but not without complications and sometimes unforeseen consequences.”

Ellen Travolta Makes Another Return to General Hospital

If General Hospital’s Chase (Josh Swickard) and Brook Lynn’s (Amanda Setton) nuptials are on, you didn’t think Grandma Gloria Cerullo would miss out on the festivities, now did you?

Casting news from Soap Opera Digest reveals that Ellen Travolta is back taping scenes that will air the week of May 13th on the ABC daytime drama series.  When viewers learned that Carmine Cerullo, was also on his way back to Port Charles, now in the face and body of actor George Russo, it only made sense that Grandma Gloria would join Grandpa Cerullo. Look for them both mid-May.

As most people know, Ellen is the older sister to John Travolta. She first make appearances as Gloria back on GH in the mid-90s. Most recently, she returned to the Quartermaine mansion to meet up with daughter, Lois (Rena Sofer) and granddaughter Brook Lynn for Thanksgiving in Port Charles in 2023.  Michael Fairman TV interviewed Rena Sofer and Amanda Setton late last year where they shared what it had been liking working with Ellen, who remains very close to Sofer in real-life.

Photo: JPI

Amanda shared: “We fell in love immediately. What’s crazy is my maternal grandmother was Grandma Gloria. I had her till I was 30 and we were so close. She was really like a second mom to me. So, when I got this script and I’m reading “Grandma Gloria”, it was so bizarre. And then in meeting Ellen, she looks like my grandma – same haircut, same high cheekbones. It really did feel like I had a few days with my grandma. It was very, very special for me. Ellen is sweet, prepared, professional, talented and funny to boot. So, it was one of the best weeks I’ve had at work. I hope she comes back. My fingers are crossed.”

Now, we can’t imagine Brook Lynn and Chase’s wedding day to be smooth sailing, in fact, expect just the opposite, but could it be Grandma Gloria who is ultimately the hero or the calming voice of reason for any pre-wedding jitters? Stay tuned.

So, glad to know that Ellen Travolta will be back for Brook Lynn and Chase’s big day? Comment below.
