WATCH: Outstanding Younger Actress Daytime Emmy Nominee Reels! Who Should Win!

This morning, NATAS posted on their official facebook page, the nominated performances in the Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series category vying for the gold at the upcoming 41st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards to be held in ceremonies on June 22nd!

Nominated in the category are: Hunter King (Summer) from The Young and the Restless, Kristen Alderson (Starr now Kiki) from General Hospital, Linsey Godrey (Caroline) and Kim Matula (Hope) from The Bold and the Beautiful and Kelly Missal (Dani) from One Life to Live.  Below are the synopsis of their submissions and following that their reels! Take a look at the playlist of videos below!  Then let us know, who you think deserves the win?

Kelley Missal  – One Life to Live

Sometimes there is only so much a person can take before they make a very bad choice that leads them down a dangerous road.  Dani is lost.  After mourning the death of Victor (the man she thought was her Father) who was shot by her biological father, Todd, Dani has been neglected by both her Mother and Todd. Todd left Llanview for Port Charles, and Tea was so buried in grief over the loss of her infant son, that she could not see how badly Dani was hurting.  In the previous Episode, Dani overdoses on Oxy and collapses at the opening of Blair’s new club, Shelter. Todd has come to town because Dani has been “drunk dialing” him, and he is worried about her.  He arrives just in time to see Dani collapse and picks her up and rushes her to the hospital.  Victor, back from the dead, also arrives at Shelter and sees Dani collapse.  Victor and Tea wait bedside for Dani to wake up, while Todd watches from a distance.

Linsey Godfrey  – The Bold and the Beautiful

Socialite Caroline Spencer is determined to win back the heart of her boyfriend, Forrester Creations President, Rick Forrester.  However, Rick is currently in love and in a committed relationship with Maya Avant, a woman who has pulled her life together from a sketchy past.  In her attempt to break Maya and Rick up, Caroline ensures that Maya is hired by her friend; producer Rafael, to star in a web series entitled “Room 8.”  While watching the opening titles with Rafael and Maya’s hunky co-star, Carter, Caroline is not impressed with what she sees.  She offers up her services to revamp the entire episode and comes up with a plan where she and Rafael can both be satisfied with the series.  She explains how she will intercut ‘fantasies’ and sex it up between Maya and Carter.

Kim Matula  – The Bold and the Beautiful

Always forgiving and understanding in the past when it comes to her true-love Liam Spencer and her half sister, Steffy Forrester, fashion designer Hope Logan is confident that this time she and Liam will make it to the altar without interruption from Steffy who is far away in Paris.  Unfortunately, even though she truly does own Liam’s heart, unforeseen forces are still conspiring against her.  Days before their wedding, Liam made Hope a video tribute to their love.  Having accidentally seen it when Liam was asking Steffy to send the signed annulment papers, Steffy requested Liam make one for her.  Making it clear that he doesn’t intend to reunite with her, Liam honors Steffy’s request.  Innocent enough.  Right? Well, not if you’re Quinn Fuller, who desperately wants Hope to be with her son, Liam’s half-brother, Wyatt.  Quinn finds the video that Liam sent Steffy and anonymously sends it to Hope.  The outcome is heart-wrenching.

Kristen Alderson  – General Hospital

New Year’s Eve turned out to be a head on collision of lies and truth for Starr Manning.  After being involved in a serious accident, Starr was forced to help the one person she wished was dead, Connie Falconeri.  Starr held Connie fully responsible for the death of her daughter, Hope Manning, and her boyfriend, Cole Thornhart.  Starr quickly learned that it wasn’t Connie that caused the death of Starr’s family but someone else that she thought was her friend.

Hunter King- The Young and the Restless

Summer’s parents, Nick and Phyllis, have done everything they can to discourage 18-year-old Summer’s crush on Kyle Abbott, and now she knows why: he’s her brother. Nick delivers the shocking news that he’s not her biological father. Jack Abbott, Kyle’s father, is. Reeling, Summer resists Nick’s overtures to comfort her, insisting that she has no home, no family…and her whole life has been a lie.

Kelli(Dani) was the best…she’d be great as Ninas thought dead child…her and K.A. could play half sisters again!!!

the child is a boy to be seen in a few weeks

Great casting idea!!

Please no more screen time for Kiki!!!

I’d be okay with GH hiring Kelley Missal but i can already see some posters having a problem with the casting and saying that RC and FV were hiring another former OLTL actor.Plus i don’t think GH has revealed yet what sex Nina and Sila’s baby is/was because they may want to keep their options open if and when they do bring that character on.However the character’s age will have to be in his or her early to mid 20s and probably around Kiki’s age because Nina was pregnant around the same time Ava was.

Andrew Hass, here’s a question re: your post…Are we really sure that Ava was ever pregnant? Kiki was already an young adult when we met her. Could Kiki be Nina’s child and Ava took her to raise, in cahoots with Nina’s mother? As I write this, it seems a little improbable, but you never know on a soap.

I have the same theory that maybe Kiki is really Nina and Silas’s daughter and somehow Ava got her.I’m sure it’s Nina could give birth to a baby even though she was in a coma. However Madeline probably didn’t want the baby around because as Nina’s child he or she could be the heir to her fortune. So Madeline could have given the baby to Ava because Ava probably wanted Silas’s baby.Plus maybe Ava was pregnant but lost the baby somehow. However by then Franco may have known Ava was pregnant and Ava didn’t know how Franco would react to her losing his baby.So she needed a baby.

Please not Kristen Alderson. I can’t stomach her any longer. She needs acting lessons. Should not be in scenes with Maurice Benard, Jane Elliot, or Tony Geary. I don’t really know any of the other actresses. The little actress who plays Emma Scorpio Drake should be nominated, regardless of her age. She’s incredibly talented.

I agree with you on every word, she was great on One Life but can’t stand this Niki person. Kill her off for good!

The only good thing about her reel is getting to see BB/Johnny again the show was so STUPID to let him get away.

I AGREE! Kristen Alderson is awful, awful, awful. Yet another reason to hate GH. GH is an awful mess. But Kelley Missal makes KA look like a genius. Please don’t let her on GH. She was so bad she should never be on any TV ever again.

Kim Matula should win for putting up with the actor who plays Liam. Can’t remember his name, don’t really care. He’s a former OLTL and is a truly horrible actor! Those two women are nuts for wanting him. 😉

There were so many great performances on OLTL, none of which are recognized. Viki, Dorian, Clint, Bo, Nora….. The Emmys have become a joke. Its time to give up on OLTL. It’s over. I’m a long time fan, but after PP screwed it over,I hope it never comes back.

I disagree with you and everyone who agreed with you. Kristen is an outstanding actress!

I agree with you, Robert! I love Kristen! I don’t care who she is playing.

I disagree with everyone who agrees with you. Or something like that. I agree that KA is an awful actress and doesn’t deserve an award. I’m surprised she even has a job. There are so many other actresses who are more deserving of an Emmy than her.

I was going to say Kim, but I love the ep Linsey submitted. It is so funny and she is so good in it. Either one. They both deserve it.

Linsey is way better than Kim! Kim needs to stop looking at the camera!

Hunter

Kim Matula. Nobody plays heartbreak and has passion like Hope and Liam. Kim Matula is great in these scenes, so is Scott Clifton. Kim is deserving of this award for her continued great work.

I hate to say this because I don’t like Liam at all, but everything he said to Hope was spot on. He can love her and have memories at the same time. He spent a long time with Steffy and they shared something equally as special as what he shared with Hope. She can’t expect him to wipe those memories away and be perfect for Hope because she herself is not anywhere near perfect no matter how Ally thinks of her or how Brad Bell wants to write her.

KM does not deserve the emmy. In fact, she should not have been nominated! Her emmy reel is loaded with her looking at the camera.

Kim Matulas reel made me want to give the emmy to Scott Clifton. He was way better than KM in that scene. (I guess Scott Clifton will have an “extra reel” to show his stuff…)

I want Lindsey Godfrey to win the Emmy. She is fantastic in this reel.
This reel is also kind of a breath of fresh air compared to all the drama/weepy stuff that almost always win….

Isn’t Kristen being nominated for her role as Kiki? She won last year for playing Starr.

Ok,thanks for the info Michael.

Kristen played Starr for part of the eligibility period.Which means she could have submitted scenes as her playing Starr or Kiki.Just like Roger Howarth could have submitted scenes as either Todd or Franco and Michael Easton could have done the same because he played John or Silas on GH during 2013.

I would like to see Kelley win. She was a breakout star on the new OLTL and it would lend a lot of validity to what Prospect Park attempted. I could be on board with a repeat by Alderson. It would make up for all the years she was overlooked on OLTL. I can understand some of the initial Kiki bashing…the character was horribly written…but the hate aimed at Alderson herself has been vicious and misdirected. She has grown up before our eyes and always delivered whatever has been asked of her including handling some very demanding storylines from a young age. The B and B gals are a bit too vapid for me…but that is also due in large part to terrible writing.

Kelley was outstanding this past year in OLTL. My vote is for her to win.

I wish all 5 actresses luck. However i think Kelley Missal and Kristen Alderson might be the favorites in this category.

between Kristen Alderson & Hunter King

Hunter King!

Hunter!!

The winner is;
Kelli(Dani) OLTL ..
She is a fantastic actress!!
She has more talent than the other 3 together ..

There were four others for a total of five. 1+3=4. You must have hated one so badly that she was a zero unless you’re not good at math. LOL!

I think several of the actresses suffered from being upstaged by their co-stars. Scott Clifton seemed more front and center in Kim Matula’s reel than Kim herself. I also think KA’s reel suffered from way too much clutter from at least 10 other characters and too many short scenes cuts where she barely had a line or two. I was very surprised that she submitted as Starr too. I’m not sure that will help her.

I didn’t care for the campy, cartoonish tone of Linsey Godfrey’s reel at all. I’d put her at the bottom of the list.

That leaves Hunter King and Kelly Missal at the top IMO. I’d like to see Kelly win personally. She held her own against 3 major leads although I wish she’d also submitted the pre-overdose scenes where you could see her downward spiral as set up.

Kelly Missal (Dani) from One Life to Live

I pray Hunter King wins i like the character she plays on Y & R . Good Luck H.K.

Kiki should get the award for the best younger actress. She is a great actress.

Kelly Misal will probably win but she faces stiff competition from Hunter King and Kristen Alderson,

Not to diminish the work of Ms Godfrey, but how did this reel earn her a nomination??

The actress that played Kristina over at GH, should have been nominated instead for her fine work during the submitting period! I guess GH did not submit a good tape of her work?!

Kelly Missal should win for sure.

I love all of them but Kelly Missal hands down… She was amazing as Dani that last year on line. So hope she gets on another soap.

Kelley Missal is truly deserving of a win in this category. Her reel is so far above the other nominees that it is laughable. She really grew up and brought a mature performance, well beyond her years, showing an abundance of range as well.

Unfortunately, Hunter King will win. Her name was front and center this year, being heard on various news outlets that normally don’t even mention soaps. Publicity is publicity and, sadly, I think that will shine more than actual talent (which, compared to other nominees, she is lacking) and she will win. Hope she thanks TMZ in her acceptance speech.

I thought Kelly Missal was the best! Kristen and Hunter did great to.

Though I more than detested Prospect Park’s version of OLTL I thought Kelly did an outstanding job so I think if she won it’d be a good call.

1, Kristen Alderson & Hunter King (tie)
2. Linsey Godfrey
3. Kelly Missal
4. Kim Matula

Our lists are very close!

Personally, I’m not a fan of Linsey Godfrey. She’s whinny and prissy and too over-the-top. Kim Matula is the the same way, but her form of over-the-top is her constant weeping and crying.

My list is:
1. Kelley Missal & Hunter King
2. Kristen Alderson
3. Kim Matula
4. Linsey Godfrey

Why wasn’t Jacqueline MacInnes Wood in the running for this? Her scenes when she lost her baby were some of the best scenes she’s ever had, and her scenes with Heather Tom and Hunter Tylo were fantastic.

Looking at the reels they chose it is Hunter King by a landslide because she was smart enough to pick a reel where it showcased her. This should be a no brainer!

Not necessarily..
The judges need to see what they are acting in context to the scene ..
To see how they are acting expressing themselves to the situations around them..
And to see them preform next to the Stars..

Kim Matula’s reel was overshadowed by Scott Clifton, he was amazing in that scene! Whereas, Hunter’s scene was about her, not Joshua Morrow.

And the winner is…HUNTER KING!

#2. Linsey Godfrey
#3. Kristen Alderson
#4. Kelley Missal
#5. Kim Matula

Once again, every soap was not represented in this category! Let’s celebrate the genre by including all soaps!!!

I would have liked to see Kate Mansi on this list!

If I got to vote I’d cast for Linsey G. on B&B and Bryan Craig on GH. Good luck all!

Personally I can’t stand either of them. Back when Caroline was cast, I always thought the show should have cast Chrishell Stause in the role. Linsey is very whinny and prissy and all around annoying, I know that’s how her character is supposed to be but it’s not good when viewers are fast forwarding through every scene with a certain actor/character in them. That’s what I did when Caroline was acting crazy.

As for Bryan Craig, he just doesn’t measure up, IMO, to Maurice Benard or Chad Duell. Chad has really grown on me since his debut, back then he was really annoying but I like him a lot now. Bryan Craig is like how Chad Duell used to be – annoying and melodramatic.

I see it completely different. Usually younger actors are irritating to me at first but then slow grow on me. But something about Bryan Craig had me hooked from day 1. I think he is such a talented young man. I really enjoy all his scenes. And I find Linsey to be great at playing multiple side of the character. She manages to make Caroline sympathetic while playing out so much humor. I’m impressed by her as well.

Definitely Kelley Missal!!!

They were all strong reels– I would happy with any one they chose– I think the one with the least chance is Linsey’s simply because it was a lighthearted piece– she was great in it, but most times the emmy goes to a really dramatic scene that involves the actress crying and expressing anger– so out of the reels submitted I think Hunter King has the slight edge in that department. For me this one is too close to call outright.

Kelly missal or kristien alderson deserve to win.

Sry to say, but hope its anyone BUT hunter king unfortunetly… Not impressed with the storylines and wardrobe tthey have writtten and gave for her character. For examble, the “bra” scene with “kyle” was cheesy and led to nowhere and if anything may have caused trouble for her

KA is the only actress in this category with series acting chops and she had the material to play as Starr. Runner up is the actress who plays Dani. None of the others can touch those two in these clips. The irony is that Josh Morrow is the riveting performer in the Summer scenes as is Scott Clifton as Liam.

Outstanding : Younger Actress

#1. Kelly Missal : Wow! HER emmy reel just zoomed by : LOVED all of it…. she contributed her act : seamlessly : interwoven : her part Mixed : I was enthralled. when you are WITH 3 superstars (Trevor, Tea, Roger) and we’re transfixed… I’ve got to give it to this lady. As usual.. I was thinking… what part could she play on DAYS… a bit younger… but… could be spitfire… with Kate and Abs… Chelsea… 8 year age difference… but could work.

It pretty much goes downhill from here. couldn’t even finish several of the reels…

#2. Hunter King : I scratch my head… wondering… what the production finds interesting.. with said characters… who don’t resonate with the audience… where’s the pull…. she went from he’s not my daddy to pill popping model to coma.

#3. Kim Matula : I thought it was Liam emmy reel… she was reacting to his act.

#4. Kristen Alderson : I don’t get it…. all her appeal? there’s no acting here…. you wince and then it’s forgettable. currently, as Kiki… and Michael.. VS Tracy and Luke… at ELQ – I may have to start fast forwarding… this is too much

Brandon Barash stole her scenes… Man… doesn’t it make you realize.. what a loss… GH’ LOSS. I swear to you, tho… ex-Johnny is the perfect (male) counterpart… to Michelle Stafford’ Persona… Nina. this is tantamount to the biggest couple… GH should realize or Jax

#5. Linsey Godfrey : what was the least bit interesting here? all she did was talk about two other people… it wasn’t funny, interesting… and lacked … I didn’t finish her reel

This is clearly the weakest category… and a landslide victory… for nuOLTL Dani.

Brandon Barash/Johnny.. GH, when he left GH he went off to prison..
I hope he will come back..
As you said Brandon Barash and Michelle Stafford would rock GH !!

Patrick, I found Kim Matula’s reel very distracting because she looked directly into the camera at least three times. I “Hope” that doesn’t happen every episode she’s on!

Hunter!

Followed by Kelley…

and the EMMY GOES TO BEAUTIFUL AND TALENTED KIM MATULA….she is the star of young generation for sure. How beautiful eye expressions!!

Kim Matula. She flawlessly portrays a heartbroken young lady. She is the best in that category.

Kim Matula should win. She is so genuine and natural in her role, an absolute workhorse that always delivers. The girl can do comedy and drama, heartbreak and fun. She should win.

ITA with you.Kim Matula is shining in B&B and she is doing a perfect job as Hope Logan, daughter of Brooke Logan. She deserves to be the main character of the B&B in young generation. The Emmy must go to her,her brilllant acting and her beauty outshine others.

Fingers crossed for beautiful&talented Kim Matula. Her scene is definitely a perfect reflection of a great frustration and heartbreak.

of these, I like Kristen’s the best. I wouldn’t have picked those scenes for Kelly Missal…. those scenes were more interesting of the Manning boys than her. Especially since we hadn’t seen Victor for so long.

Not sure what I’d pick for her, but there were many scenes where she was in catflight mode with the mystery gal that Mathew was dating, or the earlier scenes where she was drugged up and rushed to ER, then skip forward to the scenes with Michelle and the Arturo guy.

Go Kelley!!!!

General Hospital

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Brook Lynn and Chase Have Their Bachelor and Bachelorette Parties

On General Hospital, Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Chase (Josh Swickard) both were treated to Bachelorette and Bachelor parties to shake off any of those pre-wedding jitters. At The Savoy, the ladies have a touching and fun time with Brook Lynn.

The bride-to-be gives a speech to thank everyone for coming, while Lois lets everyone know to try the signature cocktail the “Brooklynn Chaser”, which gets everybody eventually and mostly, drunk.

When Tracy (Jane Elliot) questions Lois (Rena Sofer) as to why there is no music for the party, Lois realizes she forgot, and somehow, who does she call to the rescue? Spinelli (Bradford Anderson)! Saving the day, he winds up playing some tunes and later gets on the dance floor to ‘shake it off’ with the gals.

Photo: ABC

Lois makes a speech as the mother of the bride, and shares how proud she is of the woman Brook Lynn has become. Wedding games begin, including one of “hot potato” with a wedding bouquet.

When it’s time for the “Silly Poses” section of the party, Spinelli has now morphed from DJ to staff photographer taking memorable photos of the ladies to remember the evening by.

Photo: ABC

The best part of the event, was when Brook Lynn tries to get her grandmother Tracy out on the dance floor, which, at first, she refuses. After several of the guests bust a move, a tipsy Tracy joins the dance party after Joss mentions that if her grandmother Bobbie was here, she would dance. Tracy says “she agrees” and begins to cut a rug on the floor, much to the delight of the other women.

Photo: ABC

In the final moments, a tipsy Joss and Kristina (Kate Mansi) have a confrontation about Sonny, and Joss lets Kristina in more on Sonny’s behavior, which looks to have clued in Kristina a bit more as to how something is way off about her dad.

Photo: ABC

Across town at the Hatchett Bar, Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and the men with the exception of Anna (Finola Hughes) and Jordan (Tanisha Harper), all attend Chase’s Bachelor Party where throwing hatchets into a dart board for supremacy is the order of the day. Drew (Cameron Mathison) and Ned (Wally Kurth) get into some words over ELQ, while Dante makes a toast to his police partner, Chase.

Photo: ABC

Suddenly Dex (Evan Hofer) shows up. Chase thanks Dex for coming, but Dex gets some dirty looks from other cops on the force. Dante gives Chase his present, which is a signed baseball by the Boston Red Sox.

Ned (Wally Kurth) makes a speech that although no one is good enough for his daughter, Brook Lynn, Chase has come closer than anyone has, so welcome to the family. Running in at the end is Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez), who just left Brook Lynn’s party, and she toasts her singing partner, Chase, and to the great man that he is.

Cameron Mathison Previews New Game Show ‘Beat The Bridge’ (Promo)

As previously reported, Cameron Mathison (Drew, General Hospital) will be seen doing double duty this summer when he premieres in June as the host of Game Show Network’s Beat The Bridge.

Now, while Cameron will be the host with the most, that doesn’t mean he will stop playing GH’s Drew.  In fact, Mathison taped the game show in 2023, so it will now air for the first time in 2024.

Taking to his Instagram this week, Cameron shared his enthusiasm and some new hosting snaps, sharing, “Our newest game show host reporting for duty😎 Head over to the Game Show Network YouTube channel for your first look at the show and don’t miss Beat The Bridge premiering this June! I can’t wait for you guys to see this!”

In Beat The Bridge, an enormous interactive bridge dares players to cross by stepping on the right answers to challenging trivia questions. As they play, each steps forward and puts money in their team’s bank, with bonus money for each successful crossing. Here’s the catch: the team gets to keep the money only if it can “beat the bridge” by returning one of its players back across before time expires.

Meanwhile, on GH, Drew and Nina (Cynthia Watros) recently had hate-sex. Do you think its a one-time deal? Where will Drew’s story take him next under new head writers, Patrick Mulcahey and Elizabeth Korte? Stay tuned.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Nina Confronts Ava for Sabotaging Her Relationship With Sonny and Signs the Divorce Papers

Looks like Nina (Cynthia Watros) and Ava (Maura West) are back to be each other’s sworn enemy number one. By the end of the Monday, April 22nd episode of General Hospital, the women know where they stand with each other after Nina goes in on Ava accusing her of wanting Sonny (Maurice Benard) all to herself, while her marriage has been on the rocks.

In story, at Nina’s office, Ava shows up to see Nina and says she is sorry about what happened with Sonny and that he reacted the way he did, acknowledging that is was over the top, even for Sonny. Ava says she’ll smooth things over, but Nina says she now understands how manipulative and transparent Ava really is.

Given their horrible history, Nina goes in on Ava and how she should never have trusted her. Nina wants to know how long has Ava had this agenda dating all the way back to telling Nina to turn Carly (Laura Wright) and Drew (Cameron Mathison) into the SEC. Ava says she never told her do to that, but Nina wants to know how long Ava has been playing her for a fool.

Courtesy/ABC

Ava says she moved in with Sonny to keep Avery safe and she wants to be on good terms with Avery’s father, Sonny. Nina thinks she likes being in Sonny’s inner circle. Ava tells Nina if she goes to him about her advising Nina to call the SEC on Carly and Drew, it won’t work.  Sonny still considers Nina a traitor and he will think she’s lying because she’s so desperate to win him back. Ava says if Nina would stop blaming everyone else that maybe Sonny would respect her.  Nina says “like he does you?” Ava says Sonny not only respects her, but he also counts on her.

From there, Ava launches into why she and Sonny understand each other, after all, Sonny is a powerful, turbulent, and sometimes violent man. She goes so far to say if Nina wanted someone to just sit by the fire with and play with their grandchildren, she’s got the wrong guy.  Ava then talks about Mike from Nixon Falls (Sonny with amnesia) and how Sonny hid the darkest parts of himself from Nina back then, whereas with Ava they are the same similar creatures, so he doesn’t have to hide anything.

Courtesy/ABC

Nina wants to know just what Ava wants with Sonny? What is her end game? Ava responds that they understand each other, in ways she can’t with Sonny. Nina tells Ava she can go ahead and have it all and signs Sonny’s divorce papers. Ava walks out with the documents, while Nina in tears at her desk, takes off her wedding rings and has her assistant come in so she can messenger the rings back to Sonny’s address.

The episode and these scenes featured great performances by Cynthia Watros and Maura West. You can check some of the scenes below.

Now, let us know, what is Ava’s next move? Is she going to become Mrs. Sonny Corinthos? Do you like Ava and Nina as enemies? Comment below.
