Who Would You Cast In The Role Of Josh Williams On The Young and the Restless?

The buzz today has been a casting call that has gone out via The Young and the Restless for a new leading man, and for a character that would appear to be a relative of Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) named … Josh Williams!

According to the casting breakdown, “Josh” is described as in his “mid to late 30s, handsome, successful and very sexy.”   Although the Williams clan has long been known as blue collar workers, Josh will be “a smart businessman who can out-manuever even the shrewdest”.

The news first broke today via Soap Opera Uncensored and then was confirmed by Y&R to Soap Opera Digest.

So, Y&R continues to add new characters to the mix, following the last casting call for a male role which was that of “Andrew Abbott”,  the never before heard of cousin of the current Genoa City Abbott clan!

Since the casting call has gone out, who would you like to see play the role of Josh Williams? What actor in daytime or primetime television do you think fits the bill?  Who do you think Josh could be paired with romantically? Comment below!

Jason Gerhardt, it’s about time somebody brought him back to daytime.

He was a cutie! Am sure it will be another out-of-work actor from “Hollywood Heights,” though.

Forbes March

Tom Pelphrey

excellent choice

YEP!! THE BEST!!

I agree!

Any actor with talent with a story to play.

Damn another newbie I cant keep track anymore right now the only people I am watching is Lauren/Michael/Fen/Paul/story. I am so damned sick of so many newbies since the new regime came on I am about to just turn the freak show off.

Really? That is the story which is the most boring to me.

Paul had an older brother Steve who disappeared from the show ages ago, so I supposed Josh could be his son, making Paul his uncle. Carl Williams, Paul’s father, when he disappeared for a while, turned up again, from having amnesia– he had a another family, so I suppose Josh could be from that second family– either move will at least relate Josh to the history of the show.

But if they just make up some connection not previously known– just to introduce younger characters because they can’t think of interesting stories for characters over forty than that would be sad.

So I will take a wait and see on this– find out who Josh is and whether they will use Paul just as a means to introduce another newbie, or if this time actually involved Paul in whatever the story is. Who will play him? A FOJ most likely.

That’s right I remember that.
There were the 4 Williams kids – the three sons and daughter Patty.

god… how I missed Mary Williams…. her tough as nails approach – spot on Mother!

isn’t it nice to see…. “at Last” Paul Williams character is being fleshed out.

No one. This cast is already bloated as it is.

tom pelphrey

AMEN!! Although I have been hoping for primetime for him!

hmm
Josh is; “mid to late 30s, handsome, successful and very sexy.”

So, who is he to be ”sexy” with?
The woman of Y&R have little sex appeal and are too old for him..
The younger girls, well…….
haa what a waste if indeed he is handsome ans sexy 🙂
what will do with a hotty dude in GC…

“Carmine”

Billy…Nicholas…Adam…Dylan….Cain….I think the cast is pretty much stocked in that age range. Why are they bringing newbies we have never heard of?? If they are well written and properly integrated with veterans it should work but that has not been a strong suit of this regime thus far.

Dullan is in his mid-40’s.

richard simmons. lol.

Brandon Barash (ex Johnny , GH) and I’d pair him with Avery or Abby.

Yes!! I like it!

Great choice! He was brought onto GH by the JPP group, so he has an “in.”

I think that the passing of Katherine C. has reminded the soap that many of our beloved vets will want leave the show sooner than any of us want them to. By creating characters related to core families, the opportunity for generational watching will continue.

Great talent who would click right away since him and Steve Burton are buds.

The casting call is a recast for Billy Miller’s Billy Abbott. Billy Miller did not accept CBS/Sony/Jill Y&R last offer to renew his contract . It’s a shame they don’t appreciate the talent they have but promote all the new “friends of Jill” over long time cast. It’ll be damn hard to replace BillyMiller –especially now we’ve seen just how really great an actor he is. SHAME on CBS/SONY/ Jll.L

No.. this guy is named ”Josh”
and he is mid to late 30s..

It is not a replacement for ”Billy”, the new guy is named ”Josh”

Casting calls almost always use fake names/characters for casting calls…especially if it’s for replacement of a character already on the show. DUH!

“oh no”

horrors…. to not know he’s on daytime.

my first thought…. GO TO DOOL…

and replace – recast for Daniel…

wouldn’t he make Salem’ sexiest doctor in the house calls

If Billy Miller didn’t accept the latest contract offer, how is that CBS, Sony of JFP’s fault?

You’ve gotta be kidding!

stupid remarks. may not be accurate. need to remove.

I totally believe this! If they can’t keep Billy because of a pay dispute then they deserve another Daniel, who can’t hold a candle to Billy’s acting talent. Just another pretty face.

What? How do you know this? If you have read something please share, I wouldn’t think they would use a Williams for secret casting now maybe this “new” Abbott I could see so it won’t get out and probably the reason why they gave Billy is Emmy reel.

No it isn’t. Billy signed a one-year deal earlier this summer. They wouldn’t send out a casting call so early.

Thank sweet Jesus for small favorites because I couldn’t accept no more FOJ on YR at this point.

IF this is true, and that’s a big IF, I’d like to see him on General Hospital. Maybe as someone for Elizabeth?

And you know this how?!

John Paul who played Rex on OLTL.

Y&R needs a new man for Sharon, somebody who treats her with kindness..no more NEWMANS for Sharon..recast for Sam would be good!
Don’t need another Williams, Abbott or Newman..

Brandon Barash or John Paul Lavosier!

Before I did any casting, I’d make sure I had a fully developed character and some long term story in place.

Bingo! They really fumbled the ball the way they brought Dylan in.

Someone who looked along the lines of Doug Davidson, definitely! I’m happy that Doug could have some major connections within Genoa City.

I would love to see Agim Kaba (ex-Aaron, ATWT) as either Jesse or Andrew Abbott. Or even someone like Tom Pelphrey (ex-Jonathan, GL; ex-Mick, ATWT). I just want someone amazing to join this already stellar cast, and to see some other cast members depart.

They should hire Trevor St John! He’s gorgeous, sexy and a fine actor!

Ohhhhh… yes!!! He would be perfect!!!

they’re just throwing new characters/actors at the canvas without much thought – nuKyle is boring, nuNoah ditto, Tyler/Mason/Hilary/Melanie/Courtney – ALL BORING. Leslie WAS interesting and sassy when she was first on, not sure what’s happened to her now. Stitch is refreshing, build up his character. bring back Sheila – her character is a cartoon now, but Kimberlin is great and her storyline is pure soap opera! it should turn out that SHE killed Carmine and not Fen!

and if you haven’t figured it out already – THAT storyline is stolen from Knots Landing. Both Abby and Olivia thought the other killed Peter and it turned out Paige did. not original

YES! I hate Tyler/Mason/Hillary too, their characters and storyline are boring!

nuKyle is awful, nuNoah is actually good, but he needs a storyline.

And it would be amazing if they brought Sheila back as Carmine’s killer, the Baldwin family would be horrified!

Just not anyone who has previously worked for Phelps, regardless of what show they were from.

I don’t need her pets on the show.

Miller isn’t leaving by the way.

Phelps naaaw i don’t like her. I think they should bring back gloria and jeffrey not to mention they have Kate Linder and they should give her a story not having Esther not coming out of her room what a waste of wonderful characters played by such talented people. And if they bring Ashley back they ought to give her a rich storyline.

As much as I love Tom if this new Williams needs to be lighter hair and eyes, my choice is Billy Magnussen he would rock as a Williams.

Billy Miller isn’t leaving the show, look at the storyline he’s in right now. This is some of the best acting he’s done ever, so why would he leave?

As for the role, I could totally see Tom Pelphrey from ATWT or John-Paul Lavoisier from OLTL as Josh Williams, and maybe Brandon Barash as Andrew Abbott?

As far as the Abbotts go, though, all I’m hoping for is a recast for Kyle. I can’t stand Hartley Sawyer in the role.

And since there’s a new writing team coming in, please also get rid of Tyler, Hillary and Mason, and give Noah an actual storyline – Robert Adamson is too good an actor to waste away without his talents being used!

With so many guys on the show…they are gonna have to start pairing up the guys…oh there’s an idea! About time Y&R did that storyline! And no, I don’t mean Adam pretending to be gay to get in good with an attorney either.

I vote for Jonathan Jackson

Jackson is busy with Nashville and doing great on it.

I would love to see Forbes March. He is an amazing actor and he can make the character come to life

There are so many fine actors they could show on The young and the Restless but they insist on showing them damn Newmans every damn day. These Newmans are played out, they might as well changed the name of the soap to The Newman Hour. The young and the restless has never mastered the art of “making their characters grow”or figure out how to juggle more than 2 storylines. They have never saw fit to “grow up” victor newman or phillis. Victor is the same spoiled, selfish, physco five year old boy today as he was when he first came on the show. The newmans are tire, need new blood.
