43rd Daytime Emmys: Watch Outstanding Younger Actress In A Drama Series Nominated Performances!
The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) released today the nominated reels in the Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series category for this year’s 43rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards to be handed out on May 1st. In the running are: Ashlyn Pearce (Ex-Aly) The Bold and the Beautiful, Brooklyn Rae Silzer (Emma) General Hospital, True O’ Brien (Ex-Paige) Days of our Lives, Hunter King (Summer) The Young and the Restless, and Reign Edwards (Nicole) The Bold and the Beautiful.
In this category, only Hunter King has won previously having taken this category twice. So who’s performance will have them taking home the gold on Emmy night? Will it be Pearce’s twisted Aly who is out to kill Steffy? King’s Summer, who learns the truth of her late husband’s infidelities with Abby? Edwards compassionate Nicole, who tries to tell her unwavering parents about Maya, and that she wants to stay in L.A. and live her life? O’Brien’s Paige, who learns her mother has been sleeping with her boyfriend? Or, Silzer’s Emma, who falls apart upon learning that Sam and Patrick are breaking up and once again she has no mother figure in her life?
Watch the nominated performances after the jump, and then weigh-in: who do you think deserves the Emmy based on these reels? Which actress are you rooting for? Comment below!
Please for all that is holy give to the little girl that plays Emma or the gal that played on B&B hasn’t HHK gotten her rewards for her lies yet?
Talking about AP/Ally who Brad Bell threw under thee bus!
KK…um….what a vicious, unnecessary comment aimed at Hunter King. You have NO idea what went down in that situation, and she was NEVER quoted in any source as saying that anything happened. It was all third party rumours presented in the media. If they were lies, okay. If it was truth okay. Point being…you weren’t there. You don’t know. It boggles my mind the kind of hatred that can be spread on these lines! There are three scenarios here…. 1) Completely fabricated by the media. in which case, who cares. 2) It was true. In which case, a young girl was violated by an older man, which is disgusting and wrong. or 3) She lied. In which case, she needs some help. For you, a fan with no inside knowledge of the situation, to accuse her of lies is just mean-spirited, and wrong.
Excuse me but I do know what I am talking about the incident argument happened in June of 2012 six months later you are fired ??? By the way Chris Engen was the best Adam but then he was a homophobe right.
Brooklyn gets my vote
Brooklyn Rae Silzer without a doubt. She’d get my vote.
Brookyln Rae for sure–if any one else gets it then something smells rotten in Denmark.
Go Brooklyn!
Days big mistake was aging the children-they already had a younger cast like JJ, Paige, Bev and Rory who had talent and far more interesting than the current teen scene…Bev could have been a rape victim if they had to go there, became pregnant and accused JJ of rape after he spurned her advances…but Bev really had consensual sex with JJ while both were drunk partying with Rory-Rory knows it wasnt rape but is in a coma after an accidental drug overdose…Paige believes JJ is innocent and stages a breakup with JJ then befriends Bev to get to the truth-later we would learn Rory is the son of Scott Bannimg making Rory a Horton…Bev could have been aa constant thorn in JJ and Paiges side for years just like the Rachel-Steve-Alice triangle that was very popular on AW for many years.
Hi Jim. I agree…the JJ, Rory etc set was a very entertaining teen set. there were no rapes, no murders, just very natural teens doing what they do. And Jim, um, unless Rory was delving into some VERY hard VERY manufactured drugs, which was never presented, then he could not be in a coma. You can NOT overdose on marijuana and end up in a coma. You smoke too much weed, the worst that happens is that you walk to 7-11 for chips, or you fall asleep. Maybe if he fell and sustained a head injury while high on marijuana, that could result in a coma. But I wish head writers thought like us fans. Rory was a TOTAL scene stealer, a fan favourite, a realistic teenager of today. His one line in Paige’s reel, during the reveal of JJ and Eve’s sex…he just said “Whoa dude!” that had me laughing and laughing!! It is a shame that these writers and execs will push their pets and faves..Serena, Summer, Daniel, etc, etc, etc…and yet a young kid with natural charisma and talent that lights up message boards with positive response…the show won’t even give him a chance. I never would have thought to make him a Horton, but why not?? DAYS is in trouble…too much violence and too much darkness…and light hearted characters like Rory are exactly what is needed!!
The writers and execs pushing their pets & faves..Serena, Summer, Daniel etc. etc. etc. It just boggles my mind the kind of hatred that can be spread on these lines.
Brooklyn or True are my choices…
I agree, I’d rather still have JJ, Paige and Rory for sure.
The only actress from this group to leave me in tears is Brooklyn Rae Silzer. Her performances are leap years ahead of her tender age of 9 and nothing short of brilliant. I hope she is awarded the Emmy for what was a truly memorable performance and a truly memorable year!!
It’s little Emma all the way ! Plain and simple!
Brooklyn Rae Silzer for the win. She was the most realistic and honest in her young performance. That young lady was given a HEAVY task to perform and she slammed it out of the ballpark. She deserves the win. The second choice, and this pains me to say, is True O’Brien. Her scene of devastation and pain at finding her bf and mother sleeping together was an authentic mix of rage, pain and disgust. She really bit hard into that performance and deserves some kudos. She wasn’t really a great actress until the end of her reign as Paige Larson. In typical DAYS fashion however, when an actress gets good, kill her off. Sad. The rest of the nominees were okay but it always surprises, and sometimes disgusts, me that Hunter King gets nominated over and over because she is just lousy. Over reaching and over acting every time and that speech pattern is almost painful to listen to. The two actresses from Bold & Beautiful were okay but the writing was rather tepid and the monologues too preachy. Let’s do this right, shine up that Emmy and hand it to the brilliance of Brooklyn Rae Silzer. I might accept True O’Brien getting it but any of the others, not a good thing…
Mateo you are so right in everything you said. I agree Brooklyn Rae Silzer should get this award hands down. I think a few others were ok but this little girl had it from the get go. She had a lot to memorize and came through with flying colors. I think this little girl is going places.
I can’t really call this category. True’s reel was very good. It was the time when Paige came to life and let everyone have it. I would be happy if she won. For a child, Brooklyn Rae definitely deserves the award for her very realistic tears, and childhood innocence. She has a big future! I was more impressed with Reign’s reel than I expected to be, but the dialogue sounded like a Public Service Announcement, or a GLBT Pamphlet. Writing definitely plays a part in performance, and the writing of B and B’s transgender story was so phony and stilted, that is a reason why her performance didn’t wow me. Ashlyn…off her rocker Ally…lol…she definitely brought the cray cray, but even through nonsensical writing, she managed to shine. So I would be happy if she won. Hunter King, well, over the top writing and screeching did her in. She already has two Emmy’s, not sure how…but the writing of the Valentine’s Cabin killer was absurd from the get go, and did no one any favours in the performances. My votes would be with Ashlyn, True, or Brooklyn…all of whom have left their shows. Probably for strictly sentimental value, I would have to go with Brooklyn, because the writing supported her performance. The character of Ally was rambling and ranting and raving about morality, and how Forrester used to stand for class and respectability. Um, since when?? LMAO. When Eric the father, and Ridge and Thorne the two sons all had sex with Brooke? Or all the near incestuous permutations that the family has been involved in? Brooke’s Bedroom? I don’t recall Forrester ever standing for class or respectability, so I don’t know where Ally would have gotten that idea from. Maybe because she was away for a long time, and had a rose coloured view of her fragmented family, but she became a raving lunatic and I liked what Ashlyn did with it, she really committed to the cray cray. I think they are all talented, and wish them all the best.
WHOOT WHOOT !!!
#1 ,, Hunter King (Summer) The Young and the Restless !!!!
Oh, you are funny, Suoo. I do get the joke. Ha ha!
As much as I dislike the character of Summer Newman, Hunter King knocked it out of the park with that performance. Very hard choice, but my vote is for Hunter, with Brooklyn & Ashlyn a very close 2nd. Good luck to all the nominees.
I agree. In that scene, Hunter King did a great job. Convincing as the hurt, angry,
confused young widow scorned.
Emma. Brooklyn definitely. This little girl
Is amazing actor
I think Paige Larson should win for these scenes. It would be great if she and Kassie DePaiva won!
BEST BY FAR……MY VOTE GOES TO EMMA!!!!!!!!!!!!
For the love of God any human being with eyes and heart knows that little girl Brooklyn deserves this Emmy–I truly hope whoever is judging this category will not let her young age handicap her, thinking she is so young she will get another kick at the can– the Emmy is for outstanding performance, and her’s was the outstanding performance– if she doesn’t win the system is broken and beyond repair.
She is cute and good..
Bryan/Morgan is a powerhouse and has delivered great performances, not just a minute scene as Brooklyn, but full performances up front for months, not just short minute scenes.
Not sure of your point since Bryan Morgan is in a separate category thereby not in competition with Brooklyn– the Emmy is based on submitted reels and not months worth of work. However you do have a point about the older younger actors and actresses always have an advantage because writers can give them better and meaty stories, true child actors are restricted to the number of hours they can be on set and so restricts their screen time giving them less material to have to submit. So unfortunately child actors rarely win the Emmy, which is why I always thought they should have their own category but then there aren’t really enough of them a big pool to choose from.
I think True O’Brien should win. Emma is good, but too much crying in the scenes.
I’m giving my vote to Ashlyn/Aly. I saw 4 of the 5 “live.” Come to conclusion it’s hard not to vote for story that you like most, or moves you, or an actor from your favorite soap. But Aly was downright freaky. Next Reign…thought her character was just nuisance value in the beginning, but she grew in her role of a story I don’t particularly like. Love Brooklyn…but not this time. And as for Hunter…Too bad she’s been saddled with such an annoying character and part of a past p.r.”scandal.” I think she’s grown lately with her confusion and mixed loyalties over Victor, but that’s not what she submitted, so no award this time. Don’t watch Days so no idea about a True.
I say Ashlyn.
I like all of them and thanks for posting the videos on here it is great to see all these.
Ashlyn or Reign!
Lil Brooklyn can act circles around those others. Hands down. Miss Emma Drake!
