ABC Confirms Michael Strahan To Exit "Live" On May 13th! Who Should Be Ripa's Next Co-Host?

After all was said and done, now Michael Strahan is exiting much earlier than originally announced from his co-host seat on Live with Kelly and Michael.  Seems after all the parties discussed the events that transpired, ABC, Good Morning American and “Live” felt it best for Michael to exit on May 13th!

This decision would allow Straham to integrate into Good Morning America more often this summer while also giving LIVE! more time to find a new co-host.

After Tuesday’s return to work, Ripa made her sentiments known to the studio audience and the audience at home.  E Online reports that a source revealed, “ABC could have tried to pre-tape her comments. They could have tried to block or censor her comments. They could have asked her to go out there and pretend like nothing happened. But ABC didn’t. I think the network deserves credit for that.”

So who should be Kelly Ripa’s new co-host now that Strahan is on his way out in a few weeks?  Share your thoughts below!

Neil Patrick Harris, Ryan Seacrest or Clay Aiken would all be good.

she hates clay aiken, they had an on air fall out.

what about Craig Ferguson, Patricia Heaton, and Anderson Cooper.

John stamos, he is hot and he would make a terrific talk show host.

Caitlynn Jenner would be great, hire her ABC

Andy Cohen or Anderson Cooper.

Ditto David . Josh Groban is also great with Kelly.

Have another female host, Rosie O Donnel.

Rosie and Kelly had a falling out back in 2006 when Clay AIken covered her mouth. She said thats a no no putting his hand over her mouth because she has no idea where its been. Rosie took it as Kelly being a homophobe. Beside Rosie would quit in a blink of an eye like she done on the VIEW 2x.

Great memory! I forgot that!

You really want the show to fail, don’t you?

I think Alfonso Riberio would be an excellent choice.

OMG great pick. He is such a likable guy.

She has great chemistry with her husband, Neil Patrick Harris, Josh Groban, and Anderson Cooper.

I think Donald Trump as new co host. The ratings would go thru the roof!!! If ABC made the offer, maybe he would drop out of the race.

why would he He’s going to be President.

Double puke!

Anderson Cooper or Rosie O’Donald but although I like her husband Mark I would hate to see him as her co-host. I don’t like the two of them together on the show.

Another one would be great would be Kathy Lee Gifford.

How about Strahan’s former coach with the football Giants, Tom Coughlin? I hear that he’s available, looking for work, and doesn’t know what to do with himself 🙂

They’d be forced to start the show 5 minutes early every morning, at 8:55 am, cutting into the end of GMA 🙂

Boy, everyone did mention some great suggestions—if they went with any one of these names, the show would still be fun.

Neil Patrick Harris

Another former Soap Star from New York. There are plenty to pick from since the soaps are all gone. #ATWTforeverFan

This is all just a publicity stunt and it is becoming sickening.

My theory that this is a PUBLICITY STUNT is building. That entertainment show with that guy that used to be on The Tonight Show as Ross the Intern showed a photo of Kelly Ripa coming out of her home with Anderson Cooper’s book in her hands and they made a point to mention that you could clearly see his face on the book. They also say that he is in the lead to be her new cohost.

So why the close-up picture of the book? Why the photo of her coming from her home? Why carry THAT book? And now Strahan is leaving sooner? Please! I bet it was their intent to have him leave at this time all along. Nothing gets eyeballs than DRAMA and all of you are buying into this “story” are being played! Mark my words.

Oh, and if you think for one SECOND that they don’t already have the new co-host chosen and on contract, then you are exactly the lambs for ABC that they expect you to be. This is a publicity stunt and has been in the works for a long time. Oh I am sure they will trot out a bunch of so-called “prospects” to make you think they are auditioning, but they already have the host. That is why Strahan is leaving next month so the new co-host can debut in the fall. Don’t fall for this, people!

So agree! Networks know what will get ‘eyes’ and bump ratings and “we” never disappoint. Sadly…
Live wants its #1 spot back.
Billy Bush leaving Access for NBC Live; no chatter about that.

Mark Consuelos

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

GOOD! That means I can start tuning in on May 14th!

I share your sentiments, Timmm…

same here

I think everyone would love to see Anderson, Neil or Andy. I also read Jerry O’Connell is in the running. I am not a fan. I know he is California-based, but I would like to see Mario Lopez be considered.

Mark Consuelos (Kelly’s husband). End of story. Next……….

OMG Nooooooooo. He is such a bore with her. It would be snooze-ville.

Cameron Mathison, Kobe Bryant, Ronan Farrow, Andy Cohen, Mario Lopez or A.J. Calloway.

I liked on Tuesday when the camera cut away after Kelly’s announcement, when Michael normally pulls out the chair for her, and she told him she has it. Kelly doesn’t need Michael’s help, she’ll be better off with whoever comes next.

Bring back Regis and Kathie Lee and dump the others.

I agree with you Charday.

Me too.

Not Mark Consuelos. Anderson Copper and Kelly have a good time together.

First Choice, Mark Consuelos
Then Nick Lachey, Neil Patrick Harris and Anderson Cooper all tie for second because she has great chemistry with them all.

Cameron Mathison, Larry King or Josh Groban.

I thought about Cameron Mathison also.

Also, her husband Mark could be a possibility. Funny, I am commenting because I have not actually watched the show in years!

I was watching GMA today and when he came on I changed the channel.

No one—kelly is our long, national nightmare.

TA -DA !!!! spotlight !

the answer IS : “Joey Fatone”

Joseph Anthony “Joey” Fatone, Jr. is an American singer, dancer, actor and television personality. He is best known as a member of the boyband *NSYNC, in which he sang baritone.

Cancel it, don’t care.

I think it should be her husband they will do great together it is a family show

Sooo, Michael knew but HAD to keep the news under wraps. Kelly should understand and move on now. I don’t watch ” Live” b/c even at home Kellys looks and unprofessional ism is uncalled for. It’s done. Pull your big girl fancy pants up and move on. You know most of the watchers now are just wanting to see or here what you’re going to do next. How disrespectful you are. *Way to go in being the bigger person, Michael. Good Luck at GMA. We’ll be watching.

Even tho this may not be printed anywhere, I sincerely hope Kelly sees this and makes the little time she has left with Michael better and not just with him but the veiwers. Let us see that she’s moved and make it sincerely fun again. Am sooo sure I’m not the only one that feels this way. As much as I dislike writing this, I think much less of Kelly now.

I feel the same way Lynn. I think Kelly is being very immature and a bitch. I always thought she had a big head but she has a bigger attitude to go with it. She is really sickening. Everyone in my house only watched the show for Michael and now that he is leaving you could not pay me to look at it with Kelly on it. Just saying (truth)

I agree Lynn. Good luck Michael at GMA. You’ll be in better company than with this spoiled kid that thinks she runs the show. I’ll be watching GMA. My hope is that they take Kathy Lee Gifford back to be Kelly’s co-host. Believe me Kelly would be behaving herself or walking off the set because Kathy wouldn’t take her pouting and childish acting. Grow-up Kelly and See you on GMA Michael. Watch the ratings for Live drop now that Michael’s gone. Enjoy your emmy Kelly there won’t be another one. This one was for Michael.

Thinking out of the box ….Erika Slezak of OLTL. Could be a greT dynamic.

Carol Burnett Talks About Being a Superfan of ‘All My Children’ on ‘Live with Kelly and Mark’

In a heartfelt reunion, of sorts, the one and only Carol Burnett appeared on Monday March 25th episode of Live with Kelly and Mark.

Burnett had first met Kelly Ripa (Hayley) and Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo) back when they all appeared on All My Children together. Carol played Verla Grubbs first in 1983 and then again in the 90’s.

Host Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley, AMC) noted to Burnett that “we go back a long time”. She also described Burnett’s character of Verla Grubbs, “extraordinary in every way.”

Carol’s love for All My Children is well-documented, hence legendary soap creator, Agnes Nixon, created the role of Verla for Burnett.

Speaking on how her passion for All My Children began, Carol told Kelly and Mark, “It started with my kids. They would watch at noon. I said, ‘What are you guys doing?’ I sat down and I started to watch and I got hooked!”

When Carol’s family decided to travel through Europe during one summer, the comedic legend recalled thinking, “How am I going to last if I don’t know what’s going on in Pine Valley?” She revealed she had a friend, “who sent me a telegram to the (different hotels) on Fridays to bring me up to date.”

In a hilarious moment from the segment, Carol recalled receiving a late night telegram while in Lake Cuomo when there was a knock at her hotel room door from the hotel manager who was shaking.

Carol related what it said, “Erica is still in a coma. Mark slipped again and ran away from rehab.” As Kelly and Mark broke into laughter, Burnett continued, “Chuck has learned that Donna is carrying his baby, who was once a hooker.”

Check out Carol explaining how she became an AMC Superfan below.

Now, let us know, did you enjoy Carol as Verla Grubbs? What show do you consider yourself a Superfan of? Tell us in the comment section.

Malachy McCourt, ‘Ryan’s Hope’ and ‘All My Children’ Actor, Dead at 92

If you watched Ryan’s Hope through its 14-year-run, you know that Kevin the bartender became a beloved “member’ of the Ryan clan on the defunct ABC daytime drama series. The character of Kevin MacGuiness became so loved by the fans because of the actor who portrayed him, Malachy McCourt.

Sadly, according to his wife Diana McCourt to The New York Times, Malachy passed away on Monday from a heart condition and battling cancer. The actor was 92-years-old.

Playing Kevin on Ryan’s Hope was not much of a stretch for McCourt, because in his lifetime, he was the owner of 1950s Irish pub Malachy’s on Third Avenue in Manhattan. Known as one of the city’s great story-tellers, patrons from longshoremen to the actor Richard Harris would stop in and talk all things Irish with . On Ryan’s Hope, Kevin was best friends to “Ryan’s Bar” owner, Johnny Ryan (Bernie Barrow) and he tried to keep Delia (Ilene Kristen) on the straight and narrow.

In his soap opera career, McCourt also was widely-known for his role of Father Clarence McCourt on All My Children especially come Christmastime. Was Clarence, actually St. Nick? That was always the proverbial question. McCourt also appeared on the New York soaps: One Life To Live, Search For Tomorrow and Another World. Other roles included: Devil’s Own, Brewster’s Millions, The Molly Maguires, and Starman, to name

Later in 2006, Malachy ran for governor of the state of New York as a Green Party candidate. He tackled social issues of the time including being an advocate for gay and lesbian groups to march in the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

McCourt’s childhood was recounted within his brother Frank McCourt’s Pulitzer Prize-winning memoir Angela’s Ashes, which detailed their mother’s attempt to raise the four of their surviving seven children in poverty in Limerick, Ireland. Later, Malachy wrote his own memoirs: 1998’s Monk Swimming, and 2000’s Singing My Him Song.

Malachy is survived by his aforementioned wife, Diana, daughter Siobhan McCourt; sons Malachy Jr., Conor and Cormac; stepdaughter Nina Galin; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
