Follow Pete Cortlandt as he falls in love with a girl named Celia who has a dark past even she doesn’t know about. Get re-acquainted with Angie and Jesse and see them tested by tragedy and loss. Witness the return of Zach and David and follow the emotional journey of Bianca’s daughter Miranda, whose own mother lived in the shadow of the great Erica Kane but who is determined to forge her own path, on her own terms. All that and more begins on April 29th…”

Good luck to both shows, hope they eventually end up on cable or if abc is really smart they will end up airing them on its network again.

ABC’s lease with PP doesn’t expire for another 9 years, so they’ll either buy their way out of it somehow or wait the 9 years, but by then.. cable TV and internet TV will be the same thing. As soaps helped usher in radio to TV, so will they usher in TV to internet.

Internet TV will spell the end of network TV, with everything on-demand.. who needs a network? If ABC was smart, they would have moved AMC and OLTL to internet tv themselves, and anchored their own transition to internet TV.

Agreed AJ!

I agree with you, I’ve been saying the same thing, the days of Network TV will be coming to an end in the coming years. I am not a kid, I’ve been watching AMC for more years than I can count, but the time is right for this kind of project to be launched. As it is, I hardly ever watch “regular TV” anymore, cannot endure the commercials, and why should I? I either stream something on Netflix or HuLu or whatever – even renting DVD’s will eventually be a thing of the past as more and more people are streaming their fave movies or TV Programs. The only time I watch regular broadcast TV is in the morning, just as a background, while I’m shaving or showering and the weather person is on and I’m getting ready for work. Otherwise, really, I don’t watch regular TV.

Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh my god, that was fabulous! I cannot wait for OLTL to come back!

WOW This is wonderful. Loved the OLTL storyline and got chills when I read about Viki and Dorian. It’s so exciting that they are back!!!!!!!!

Amazing pages; hopefully the HD versions come out!

The AMC description makes it sound as though the show will focus primarily on the younger generation with cameo appearances by the veterans. However, the OLTL description seems to be more evenly based between veterans and the less expensive newbies.

OLTL sounds more interesting but what sounds good on paper maybe completely different from what appears on screen…guess its best to wait and see b4 we judge. I wish them both success no matter what!

AMC didn’t get back everyone(Erica, Kendall, Jack, a couple of others).. OLTL got virtually everyone back, so it’s a different dynamic. Hopefully it’s just in the description, and the people at AMC aren’t stupid enuff to long-time fans by focusing on newbies over legacy characters.

Will the episodes be free, or do you have to pay for each episode?

iTunes might charge for downloads, but it’s totally FREE on Hulu.

Oltl sounds awesome

I agree it sounds like they couldnt get too many of the original actors so it will focus on the younger town folks so new people can be introduced. I loved the shows and would very much like to keep up with the stories but… I have 2 issues I dont like having to get used to new faces and stories and MOST of all I like so many other people out there dont have access to or just cant afford the faster internet connections that it takes to watch video on the computer…a lot of the older generation that supported these shows for so many years on TV just dont mess with computers. And apparently are completely over looked by everyone in control of these shows.

I am no technology wizard but I think a basic dsl connection is all you need. I have no idea if dial up connections are still in use or if they would work for this. There is a company called dsl extreme which supposedly offers service throughout the US and advertises a basic dsl connect for as low as $12.95 per month. You have to have a home phone.

I’m impressed each day the amount of older people on the internet and computer savvy. Ones older than i am-60’s, 70’s and yes some eighty year olds!

Love the OLTL description…Dorian and Vicki battling again is enough to get me to tune in!

It sounds great, but the clock is ticking for getting the shows up to Canada. Now more than ever, I’m anxious to get back to Llanview and Pine Valley.

well hopefully TREVOR /VICTOR IS BACK .AND THE EVIL ORGANIZATION IS THE ONE THAT KEPT HIM N TODD PRISONER.

Canadian store says ‘not available in your country’. 🙁

I know they are working on a distribution deal for Canadian viewers! Keep checking as it gets closer to 4/29/13!

OMG, I started tearing up watching the video realizing that’s it’s finally happening – my story is back!! Yay, AMC I missed you so much!!

Sounds great!

I am very glad these shows have finally found new life. However, I find both cast photos sleazy, inappropriate and disgusting. What is up with Erika Slezak, long the epitome of class, wearing such a short dress? Kelly Missal, who plays the teenage Danielle, is sitting, legs spread, looking like a mini Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct. And this girl they have hired as the new Destiny? Did the character lose weight and follow Nate into porn?? And the All My Children one is just as offensive…various teenagers lying around, spread eagle, in various states of undress. What on Earth are the promotional people thinking??? They are saying how “edgy“ the new shows will be…if profanity, soft-core nudity, and sleaze is how they are defining edgy, I would rather remember the shows how they were, when at least they retained some semblance of class. I will reserve such opinions until I see what transpires on screen. I certainly wish everyone involved the best in this endeavour! It is still hard to get beyond the fact that Cady McClain is 42 in real life and playing gramma to a teenager now. Wait and see, I guess.

Destiny looks like shes not wearing anything from the waste done, Vikis dress is just a tad short, and Dani looks like shes going to the toilet…lol! AMC doesnt look too bad except maybe the one sitting near Jill Larson with the too short dress…? As for the adult content i doubt itll be as offensive as it might sound…im certain it will all be done in good taste. Im not judging any of these shows til we see them…its all about the stories for me, and if i dont like the show as a whole i might not stay with it but im going to watch a month of episodes b4 i make any final decision.

The promotional people are thinking that they need to get younger viewers attracted to the show.
And Erika Slezak herself said she thinks they are going the right way and not to worry – Viki isn’t going to start dropping F bombs! She is still classy.
And I know a woman who is 45 and has a 13 year old grandson. It can happen.

just a word about the photos. The best way I can explain this is Have you ever seen the show Americas next top model? It is like that kinda. They do VERY high end photo shoots, edgy, sexy, sometimes almost pornographic to a degree but they don’t cross that fine line. This is not how they are going to be dressed on the shows 🙂 They will have some profanity, it is going to be online and they no longer are held by the same restraints as if they were on tv, and from the sounds of it even the vets are excited by this. BTW the photo you are talking about is just one of the pics taken, it is not the cast photo. If you have not seen it yet I know it is on their fb page as well as the Hulu page for them. One other thing, they are trying to bring in new viewers, the younger generation and as we all know sex sells. But I really believe that they will do this in a way that long time fans will still enjoy the show. Glad you will be giving it a chance!!

They gotta put butts in front of the monitors somehow.

This is wonderful. I have an Apple computer and need to find out how to make iTunes work. If not, hulu is just fine. Either way I am so jazzed I can’t stand it.

A friend brought up some questions I don’t have answers for. The information we have now says the shows will be available at 12 o’clock on April 29?. I assume that means EDT. Since we’re on the west coast, does that mean we can see them at 9AM PDT? How long will episodes be available for viewing?

Quote;
” Blair and Cutter’s popular new club Shelter places Llanview on the map with DJ’s, singers and cameo roles played by the biggest names in show business today.”

wow this will be great.. being PP is in the music business and produces/promotes some of the biggest rock stars, that will simple be awesome .. excited to see which ”big names” will entertain me.

Aslo, I think the unpleasant complainers should have their own BWM complain board so as not to irritate and depress us happy people .. 🙂 lol

I am thrilled for both OLTL and AMC. The video was spectacular, and it did what it was supposed to do–get the audience who battled to bring it back on air to feel victorious, and enlist a new regime of followers. I never watched AMC, but plan to support it and can’t wait to meet and grow to love my Pine Valley family as much as my OLTL family!

YAAAAAAAY! 🙂

Crossing my fingers, but not all that impressed. I just feel they are going to “amp” up these shows too much with “cutting edge” and “sex” that they will not be staying true to what made them great to begin with. Hope I’m wrong, but we shall see.

And quite frankly, I’m tired about people gripping that they have to pay for these shows (either by upgrading to a better internet system or with HuluPlus to avoid commercials). We all wanted these shows back and now we are complaining about how they came back! In this day and age, everyone should have a basic internet system AND a computer – the investment would not be just to watch these shows. Worse comes to worse, go to the library once a week and watch them there – these show are on only 4x a week for under 30 minutes each.

I agree with you Kelly, sick of hearing any kind of complaining of watching the soaps on Hulu, And like you, I hope they don’t sex it up, I like the soaps they way they were written before, I don’t want to loose them because of any kind of changes like you said “cutting edge” and “sex” But I will watch and save my opinion after they have been on for a while.

What made them true didn’t keep them on the Air look at Dallas no.love scenes but cutting edge f u drama that has old n new characters to keep us glued in …Enuff said Besides Super couples can carry the show it will be good to see How Dixie character has developed 5 yrs later. All I can say is everyone wants to bitch n moan but be greatful that first time in history have not one but 2 soaps come back …….. Long live Am and Oltl I am actually glad there is no boring ryan and greenlee kendal triangle . But to
see Miranda and Aj s teens ……..

Sorry guys…thank you for your respectful and humorous replies. I do appreciate them, and I read your various explanations of the cast photos. But really…hear me out again…the promotional people behind these particular photos are ALL wrong. The hope with recreating these shows is to get the audience who watched them on t.v. to follow them to the internet. There are millions of viewers who were never counted by Nielsen boxes, and hopefully this will be proven. But this elusive “new“ audience…tuning in to these two new “edgy“ shows that they are hoping for…it is just misplaced prioritizing. Can you HONESTLY hear the masses of 12-19 year olds chanting,“Oh wow! I gotta mark my calendar for April 29! That‘s the day my grandma‘s cancelled soap starts airing on Hulu! I hear it‘s going to be hip and edgy now with lots of cursing and maybe even some nudity! I have to watch it!“ I am not trying to be negative or sarcaastic. I am THRILLED these shows have new life, I hope they will be modern and fresh, and I wish everyone involved the best! I just don‘t want the promotional efforts to be counter-productive to what the shows are actually all about, or to sabotage the efforts of talented people. The promotions should be nostalgic and heartwarming focusing on “We‘re back..“, or “Wishes do come true…“, or something of that nature. Showing half naked children and scantily clad senior citizens in ads, when neither is what the show will be about, is just misguided and poor taste. But again, I am along for the ride with these shows, as I am a lifelong viewer of the genre.

What it is is that “edge” starts conversations. Point blank. When any artists (singer, actor, ect.) does stuff like this, the main point is to get people talking. Everyone knows that you’re going to have some positive responses to it and some negative responses to it. But regardless of the person’s taste, as long as people are talking about it, it creates hype and in the end, more publicity for the shows.
One Life got too many of their core characters back to not focus the show on them. All My Children IS going back to its actual roots. The show started with teen storylines, and those “teens” (Erica, Tad, Dixie, Angie, Jesse) and even the other characters we watched grow up (JR, Bianca, ect) have kids of their own. So they’re still going by the same formula as when they started.
The cast photos are going to offend some, and some are and do love them. But at the end of the day, if one of these teens gets their picture in a contemporary or urban magazine, it helps bring in more ratings. I think the pictures aren’t meant to draw back the original fans. I think they’re hoping people who have always watched the show, will continue to watch and support and help drive new viewers to watch.

It has been proven…time and time and time and time again…LOL…Soap audiences do NOT tune in for pretty young things, for partial nudity, for “edgy“ stories, or any other such gimmicks. They tune in for well written stories that are well acted and that are played by proven viewer favourites. Think back to ANY time in the past when ANY soap hired a bunch of “sexy“ newbies. Ratings did not rise. Many soap performers have appeared in other magazines or media, ratings did not rise. Showing a bunch of unfamiliar strangers writhing around half naked with the title ALL MY CHILDREN on top of it is misleading, disrespectful, and inappropriate. How about some old-school Beverly Hills 90210 style promos? Young, fresh faced, All-American teens in RELATABLE poses like high school shots, team jackets, etc. I am only in my 20‘s…I am not so far out of the teen demographic. But when I see poses like that, it turns me RIGHT off and makes me giggle at how out of touch these suits are with this age demographic. Unless they are promiscuous or seeking fame in Hollywood, normal teens don‘t writhe around half-naked with pouty, come-hither, trying-to-be sexy looks on their faces. They are more concerned about their next exam, their latest crush, their part-time job, their fight with their best friend, etc.

Ashlee you keep saying “edgy” like it is something completely new to soaps. Robin and Stone and the AIDS story line was “Edgy”, The Kish ((Gay couple)) on OLTL was “Edgy”, Most story lines are Edgy in some respects…..Soaps are Fantasy, fantasies anything can happen!

Sometimes I feel like there’s no real point in responding on these things cause it’s like everyone is so quick to prove THEIR point, they tend to not read replies or responses to their statements.

Yes, soap audiences have a particular taste. But the point is now that they’re trying to EXPAND the soap audience. Bring in a new wave of fans to join the others that also like the medium. And to do that, sometimes you have to take chances and try new stuff.

Yes there are teens who worry about fights with the BF’s and with…but there are also some that are promiscuous and dress inappropriately and do drugs and drink, ect….

Alls I’m sayin is that the promos make people talk. Even on this site, that’s full of true soap fans. You may not like the pics. And a few others may not like the pics either. And as you can read, there are some fans who DO like them. Even some of the stars of the show like them. And because we all have different opinions, what’s happening. We’re talking about it. Which is bringing publicity to the shows. New viewers will hopefully tune it to see what the shows are about. Original fans will tune in and hopefully fall in love with the characters all over again. It’s not as big of a deal as you’re appearing (in my opinion) to make it.

Bottom line, support the shows! The end. You don’t have to like the PROMO pictures. They’re just pictures. If the shows are a success, They’ll continue shooting more as time goes on.

It’s so weird to me how people speak for “all soap fans” sometimes. That’s like one person speaking for an entire race. Or one person speaking for an entire state. Without having spoken to them all. Soap fans are so all across the board. Instead of wasting time voicing what you already don’t like, spend more time posting what you DO like and what you’re excited for. So these 2.0 versions make it the long way!

I think we should post our thoughts good or bad. While someone is reading the post they may think of something better to do. So I say keep posting the good bad and the ugly only to help the show. You don’t have to be rude or nasty with it for sure.

So are they going to pretend Dani, Matthew, and Destiny are older now or are they all going to be in their early college years?

I can’t wait. If you go back in History radio was the thing to listen to. And now we have ITunes and internet so there you go Soaps being apart of our future.

Carol Burnett Talks About Being a Superfan of ‘All My Children’ on ‘Live with Kelly and Mark’

In a heartfelt reunion, of sorts, the one and only Carol Burnett appeared on Monday March 25th episode of Live with Kelly and Mark.

Burnett had first met Kelly Ripa (Hayley) and Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo) back when they all appeared on All My Children together. Carol played Verla Grubbs first in 1983 and then again in the 90’s.

Host Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley, AMC) noted to Burnett that “we go back a long time”. She also described Burnett’s character of Verla Grubbs, “extraordinary in every way.”

Carol’s love for All My Children is well-documented, hence legendary soap creator, Agnes Nixon, created the role of Verla for Burnett.

Photo: ABC

Speaking on how her passion for All My Children began, Carol told Kelly and Mark, “It started with my kids. They would watch at noon. I said, ‘What are you guys doing?’ I sat down and I started to watch and I got hooked!”

When Carol’s family decided to travel through Europe during one summer, the comedic legend recalled thinking, “How am I going to last if I don’t know what’s going on in Pine Valley?” She revealed she had a friend, “who sent me a telegram to the (different hotels) on Fridays to bring me up to date.”

Photo: ABC

In a hilarious moment from the segment, Carol recalled receiving a late night telegram while in Lake Cuomo when there was a knock at her hotel room door from the hotel manager who was shaking.

Carol related what it said, “Erica is still in a coma. Mark slipped again and ran away from rehab.” As Kelly and Mark broke into laughter, Burnett continued, “Chuck has learned that Donna is carrying his baby, who was once a hooker.”

Check out Carol explaining how she became an AMC Superfan below.

Now, let us know, did you enjoy Carol as Verla Grubbs? What show do you consider yourself a Superfan of? Tell us in the comment section.

Malachy McCourt, ‘Ryan’s Hope’ and ‘All My Children’ Actor, Dead at 92

If you watched Ryan’s Hope through its 14-year-run, you know that Kevin the bartender became a beloved “member’ of the Ryan clan on the defunct ABC daytime drama series. The character of Kevin MacGuiness became so loved by the fans because of the actor who portrayed him, Malachy McCourt.

Sadly, according to his wife Diana McCourt to The New York Times, Malachy passed away on Monday from a heart condition and battling cancer. The actor was 92-years-old.

Playing Kevin on Ryan’s Hope was not much of a stretch for McCourt, because in his lifetime, he was the owner of 1950s Irish pub Malachy’s on Third Avenue in Manhattan. Known as one of the city’s great story-tellers, patrons from longshoremen to the actor Richard Harris would stop in and talk all things Irish with . On Ryan’s Hope, Kevin was best friends to “Ryan’s Bar” owner, Johnny Ryan (Bernie Barrow) and he tried to keep Delia (Ilene Kristen) on the straight and narrow.

Photo: ABC

In his soap opera career, McCourt also was widely-known for his role of Father Clarence McCourt on All My Children especially come Christmastime. Was Clarence, actually St. Nick? That was always the proverbial question. McCourt also appeared on the New York soaps: One Life To Live, Search For Tomorrow and Another World. Other roles included: Devil’s Own, Brewster’s Millions, The Molly Maguires, and Starman, to name

Later in 2006, Malachy ran for governor of the state of New York as a Green Party candidate. He tackled social issues of the time including being an advocate for gay and lesbian groups to march in the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Photo: ABC

McCourt’s childhood was recounted within his brother Frank McCourt’s Pulitzer Prize-winning memoir Angela’s Ashes, which detailed their mother’s attempt to raise the four of their surviving seven children in poverty in Limerick, Ireland. Later, Malachy wrote his own memoirs: 1998’s Monk Swimming, and 2000’s Singing My Him Song.

Malachy is survived by his aforementioned wife, Diana, daughter Siobhan McCourt; sons Malachy Jr., Conor and Cormac; stepdaughter Nina Galin; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Share you remembrances and condolences for Malachy McCourt via the comment section, but first check out this scene from a 1983 episode of “Ryan’s Hope” featuring the late actor with Ilene Kristen.
