As The GH Nurses Ball Concludes, Elizabeth Makes A Game-Changing Decision As Rebecca Herbst Delivers Power Performance!

On part three and the conclusion of General Hospital’s Nurses Ball 2015 episodes, all eyes were on Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) and what she would do next!  After learning from Nikolas (Tyler Christopher) that Jake Doe is really Jason (Billy Miller), Liz heads into the ball to stop the proceedings and take the stage to tell everyone in attendance including: Carly (Laura Wright) Jake himself, Sam (Kelly Monaco), Patrick (Jason Thompson), Michael (Chad Duell) and more that Jake is really their beloved Jason.   Only when it’s her moment to reveal the truth, she stops herself and then launches into a touching former Nurses Ball moment to cover her tracks.  Elizabeth recounts the time that Jason saved Robin (Kimberly McCullough) on the stage, and tears flowed not only from Nurse Liz, but Anna (Finola Hughes), and Patrick and Carly, too!

After exiting the stage and running out into the hallway, Nikolas finds Elizabeth in tears on the floor.   And then came the turn – Elizabeth, just as Nikolas had revealed he was over being the nice guy and getting stomped on for the last two years of his life – decides too, that she will keep the secret that Jake is Jason.  Liz rationalizes it will keep Jason away from Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Carly, Sam and everyone who got in the way of her chance at happiness with Jason in the past.  Now she says it’s her turn to be happy after years of being betrayed by the men in her life, especially just after what happened with Ric Lansing (Ric Hearst).  Nikolas questions her if she is prepared to carry this burden and this lie, and its implications – she is afterall keeping a father away from his wife and his son – to which Liz tells Nikolas if he ever loved her, he will do this for her and keep quiet as well,  and thus sealed the deal! These once former lovers, Nikolas and Elizabeth, are now both carrying the secret of Jake’s true identity for their own very different agendas.

As for long time General Hospital cast member Rebecca Herbst, she delivered a magnificent, nuanced, and emotional performance that will be remembered for some time to come.  The audience felt Elizabeth’s pain, heartbreak, defiance, and ultimately seeing her decide to step up and take what she believes belongs to her no matter what the cost, as so many other characters do on the soaps!

But the Nurses Ball wouldn’t be complete without the hankie-filled final moments to the now staple tune, “You’re Not Alone”  sang this year jointly on-stage by Sabrina (Teresa Castillo) and Ephihany (Sonya Eddy).  As the song plays out, GH fans watch as key poignant scenes tell the story along with the song.  First, Nikolas returns home from the ball to see son Spencer (Nicholas) without his mask covering his scars on his face.  This came about after a heart-tugging moment between Spencer and his late mother Courtney (Alicia Leigh Willis), who paid him a heavenly visit.  Courtney was able to help her young son get the strength to solider on and remove the mask.   In one final scene, Nikolas and Spencer are touched by the hands of Courtney as we see a momentary family reunion.

And then came the conclusion, the final scene.  As everyone in attendance had joined hands on stage in the now traditional ending of the  Nurses Ball,  Jake happens upon it.  We see him from the back looking on at all these people he knows and loves, but can’t remember.  Next, he turns around and Elizabeth is there who he has been looking for all night, since Ric’s scheme was outed by Carly.   As the door closes behind him, Jake AKA Jason heads towards his new life with Elizabeth!

Watch the final moments and the performance of “You’re Not Alone” below.  Then weigh-in:  What did you think about Elizabeth’s decision?  Do you think she will be able to pull this off and keep Jake from ever finding out he is Jason?  What did you think about the performance of Rebecca Herbst? Did you reach for the hankies in the final moments between Nikolas/Courtney/Spencer and Jake AKA Jason and Liz?  Share your thoughts below!

As happy as I am that the Nurse’s Ball is back-this year’s showing made me a little sad. It was a sad guest list-small, either filler, recurring cast members, or stand-ins. The best performance was Patrick and Emma-by far! Spins was great, too, as was Ned/Eddie Maine. Lucy Coe never disappoints. As much as I enjoy Jake(son), it’s time for the reveal. Although I enjoy Jake with Elizabeth, it’s time. I always enjoy the flashbacks-loved the flashbacks of Anna and Duke dancing. I think it would have been great to see flashbacks of Jason and Robin during Elizabeth’s speech. The marketing ploy between Carly and Sabrina was very awkward regarding Aveeno-really, really awkward…

The marketing was horrible and garish even.
I felt like I was watching an infomercial.

Hi, dmr.
Frankly, I had no idea everyone was so talented….especially the singers. Spinelli is a pro.
That is why I am somewhat taken aback when I see some fans complain that the Nurses’ Ball was not up to par? It must have been really something spectacular back in the day!!

That mini-Aveeno commercial presented to us by none other than Carly and Sabrina WAS awkward, yes….and weird….no subtlety. It made me chuckle…they had to ‘stick’ it in there somehow.

CeeCee , hi
In the old days the actors promoted their sponsors products in the show..
It was crazy.. if in the kitchen making coffee they would hold the coffee up and say how wonder Folgers coffee is . or how great their Revlon nail polish is while painting their nails etc .. crazy when I saw that watching old stuff..
didnt you ever see that when watching the real old shows online/wherever..
I bet the early soaps talked about the sponsors product too..

It is the called placement promotions, and done often on Seinfeld .. Near every show they talked about some product.. Junior Mints, Bosco, etc lol
It was fun to watch that lol ..

I agree Spinelli and Ned were the absolute best part. Showstoppers!

Suoo, product placement has always been an integral aspect of TV series and daytime drama. However, they did not incorporate commercials into the dialogue of the actors.’ You had various characters go on and on about how great Aveeno is instead of talking about the storylines in which they were involved.
Seinfeld made fun of Junior Mints, Bosco, but they did not promote the products at all.

Awkward? Check. Weird? Totally! And by utilizing that over-exposed nitwit nurse to hawk their hand lotion, Aveeno just made sure I shall NEVER buy this item, let alone any other in their product line! LOL. If they really wanted to entice viewers to purchase this oh so wonderful skin treatment, they should have shown Patrick and Sam rummaging through their bags of NB bling and locating said bottle of bliss, suggesting some sort of naughty purpose for it and then showing the glowing aftermath of their satisfied product usage. The stuff would have sold like hotcakes!!!!!

@Shay.
You got me practically on the floor, laughing, Shay.
You will never buy that product again, now? That’s hilarious. Oh, my God.

Patrick and Sam rummaging? Bottle of bliss? That is so funny!!!!!! I needed that, today….I feel miserable…..my allergies are so bad…you’re my antihistamine. LOL.

CeeCee…..you are right…the old balls were WAY better!! They had what looked Iike a ballroom with some depth, a real stage, and sweeping camera work. They were classy and emotional and they wove the stories together at the ball with real heart and soul. There were no teenage or gay male stripers taking their clothes off. Families were wel represented and the numbers were cute and emotional and sometimes silly but always appropriate and never distasteful or done for shock value. Back then, the show was not completely plot driven as it is now so viewers were able to enjoy the ball as an entertaining experience. For the record…I just want 1500 milligrams of whatever substance Ellie was on. She was right whacked and off kilter. Lol.

what I thought was “peculiar”

was when Dante saw Valerie looking at the gift bags

LOL and she was holding that bottled potion…. ever so lovingly

like she’d never had it before or intimated it was her favorite?

huh?

Maybe Val-Chops is a closet kleptomaniac or an extreme Aveeno aficionada, Patrick, and Dante caught her in the act of absconding with all the freebies! LOL…..

But you know what? I’ll take that thirty seconds of awkwardness if it means a sponsor is giving the show extra money to produce a more expensive show; be it for guest stars, song rights, etc.

The Aveeno stuff was too funny, a mocking of the old days placement ads.. yet, it was an ad .. Aveeno agreed to be spoofed.. gotta see it as it is, just fun LOL ..
why take soap stuff so seriously, it is nowhere being serious.. lol
I luved the Ball, I had fun watching it and I was entertained, and that is good thing..

Exactly, last year it was Yoplait, this year Aveeno- a necessary evil if they want to afford this bash every year. I am not a fan of working an ad into the dialogue, I think showing the product and having the name plastered all over the place should have been enough, but it is what it is, as long as they don’t make a habit of it, I can put up with it for a couple of days.

Elizabeth sleeping with Jason rather than telling him the truth – a real disappointment. But, adultery is part of the soap opera world. So selfish with Jason alive and his wife and son not yet having a clue. Of course, the truth will come out I would guess within a few months.

On another note, I must say I’m totally bored with Nicolas and Hayden’s escapades. Of all the actresses they could have brought on the show from AMC, they picked the one I find most annoying. Nicolas’ role seems so dead end these days. He’s been around for ages, goes on and off the show from time to time, but rarely does he have a storng storyline. And his turning into a greed freak since he hasn’t liked his life the past two years, that will of course bomb out eventually.

I was thrilled when Elizabeth called Ric a dirty name as he is a snake in the grass. I think she will keep Jake’s identity a secret for a while and have a romance with him. He will eventually remember parts of his past. I especially enjoyed Spinelli’s song and didnt know he had such a terrific voice. Epiphany and Sabrina did a great job as a duet.

Liz called Ric a snake but she is just as much an ASPhole as he is now she is keeping Jason a secret and away from his son Danny!!!

What else would one expect from Elizabeth? Either Jason will remember or she will ruin it . . . there must be someone else in town she hasn’t slept with yet. She wants to be happy at the expense of so many others. She and Ric should be together . . . they are so much alike.

I agree, and I love Liz! But I am very disappointed that she is going to keep this secret and pursue a relationship with Jake, knowing he is a married man and a father! This can only end badly. Too bad, “Lake” was my favorite couple on the show. Ah well, at least “Naxie” reunited today, they’re my second favorite. 🙂

I totally agree Jimh! Liz slapped Ric and made this big scene for lying to her. She then does the same to Danny, etc..

Lizzie being selfish and entitled nothing new she’s just owning it this time, she’ll pay and pay dearly. Sam & Carly will trying to kill the twit and hopefully they both get to smack the taste out of her mouth, sick of her constantly smacking people. Jason does she really think Jason will want her when the truth comes out. All her whining about them never having a chance if Jason really wanted her he would have been with her. The one person never mention was Danny never knowing his daddy, but why should Lizzie care about that none of her kids know theres. UGH!!! Can you tell I hate this girl!

Just like Sam never cared about Liz’s child (baby Jake) twice, it’s now Liz’s turn not to care about Sam’s for the second time. Karma’s a bi***. And I wouldn’t care so much about whether or not Jason forgives Liz. If he can go back to Sam after threatening to kill her, no doubts Liz/Jake (jJason’s) relationship will ultimately heal thyself. Also, Carly has no place to talk about denigrating anyone for their actions, considering she lied about the cold-blooded murder of her beloved son’s biological father at the hand’s of his adoptive father. As far as Sam’s concerned, considering her long litany of crimes, who’s she to pass judgment? Her history of crimes far outweighs Liz’s. All Liz is doing really is taking a page out of Sam and Carly’s book. And considering they’re the best at lying, manipulating and scheming, Liz has learned from the best.

Yay for this!!!

I agree, Shelby. I said something similar on another post regarding Rick. Basically, what he did was no worse than Nic keeping Jason’s identity a secret…and now Liz doing the same. Then there’s Carly who continually calls Rick a snake, yet how many despicable things has she done…pouring alcohol on AJ when he was passed out so everyone would think he was drinking again….and that’s just one of her many heinous acts. What Liz Said was true, most of the people of Port Charles have done their share of underhanded deeds..unfortunately…in the end this one will backfire on Liz…big time….

Please these are fictional characters I hope no one who posts on this board is part of the fan base for Sam who are posting pictures of Becky on the Internet beat up! If you are you should be ashamed of yourselves and I hope RC does something to stop this social media frenzy again. I hated that he put her right back in this mess and I hope KM tells her so called fans to stop it it is sick.

Love REBECCA HERBST.

Ditto!

Dr. O’s (Kathleen Gati) 99 Balloons song was refreshing. It was great to watch Ned (Wally Kurth) perform on stage. There were some touching moments: Emma’s song, Spencer meeting his Mom.

I loved this article Becky was amazing, and I just love Liz. You know other people have done worse, Liz said it best everyone in that room has lied & cheated to get what they want. I’m glad Liz is finally gonna make sure she get’s her happiness with Jason, it’s about time bring it Lizzie.

Part 1: Lame. The opening number was horrible!

Part 2: Much better. The boys striptease was good and I loved their song choice, “What you Need.” The girls number was not to bad.

Part 3: Really good. Patrick and Emma was great. Courtney and Spenser was the best! Snorbrina actually shined in the closing number! LOVED that Liz kept Nick’s secret, called out half of Port Charles and declared this her time to be happy.

Conclusion: Happy to always have the Nurse Ball on TV. I wish the production values were higher and the focus was on the show and performance and not so story driven.

Bonus point: I love Wally Kurth and loved Eddie Maine back singing the Queen classic. It is an absolute SIN he is leaving for Days. Ned Ashton should be the Patriarch of the Q’s and take over for Edward. So sad he is leaving.

Love your post, Timmm.
I keep hearing the name Eddie Maine being thrown around here and there. No clue….so I looked him up. ….everything is crystal clear now. LOL.

You Tube him singing “The Seventh Son.”

@ Timmm.
I did…he’s fantastico….thanks, Timmm.

Cee Cee…I really enjoyed the Eddie Mane era. It was fun, funny and R&R. Especially “Eddie’s” relationship with Lois/Rena Soper. She was fabulous. You can see her now as Quinn on Y&R. Still a bit of a quirky character to say the least. Plus, it introduced J Jaxs who I wish they would bring back. He’s just the type to throw a wrench into the takeover of ELQ since that is his business. Would be a great OKCorral between him and Nik.

CeeCee Cee. Oops! Quinn on B&B.

I’m completely disappointed Ned is leaving, too. There is something so likable…so stable about him. Just love his presence and will feel his absence on the show.

I would love to meet him. I bet he is the best!

I agree Timmm. Ned would be a great Patriarch of the Q’s. Sad to see him go.

Great post Timmm.

Thank you Fanny.

The show was a good one once you fast forward through all the cheesy performances. You get 15 minutes of good storyline.

Rebecca Herbst has been outstanding throughout this whole Nurse’s Ball. From her heartache and shock in learning Jake is really Jason to her realization that she can never win and choosing to take hold of the happiness she sees within reach. I can’t say that I blame her. Her speech made some sense. The liars, cheats and schemers of Port Charles get away with far worse. Just look at Sonny and Carly. That closing scene was beautifully done and so symbolic.

Rebecca Herbst has been the absolute, unequivocal star of the Nurses Ball this year! There is no denying that. Liz is wrong for keeping the lie, but after she gave her reasons I couldn’t help but just say, “Go on Liz, do what you gotta do!”. She’s right, she’s played by the rules and always gets steamrolled. I’m looking forward to her taking control of the situation and going after what she wants. I love Liz and Nik and I love Liz and Jake, it’s a win/win for this viewer!

Yeah, Dee. I can understand her reasoning…..she wants a piece of the moon and the sun and every kind of that elusive thing called love. It seems that love has slipped through her fingers many a time. Yes, that town is a den of vipers; vampires (LOL) who have sold their souls to the devil over and over….but, two wrongs do not a right make ( well, except in Algebraic equations, lol). I love Liz, but she will rue the day she was not straight with Jake. The truth always finds a way of coming out.
I guess not in soaps, right , Dee.
As Timmm said…no one pays for crimes committed on GH.

I shed a a few tears when Elizabeth realized Jake had chosen
their son’s name as his own, all those months ago…
Even then he remembered something of his past with her.

I love Liz but she hasn’t really always played by the rules. She slept with Nic over and over again when she was engaged to Lucky. This will be a great love story…until the truth comes out.

UR right Rebecca, it’s inevitable. Hopefully the truth and consequences
won’t crush her.

Rebecca Herbst was stunning the past couple of days, a true powerhouse performance for real! I gotta say as a longtime LizFF I am intrigued. The story has a ton of potential if done right and I can’t really complain about any of the writing for her the last couple of days even if it was a neck snapping 180 LOL. Anyway it if great to see Becky given some material she can really sink her teeth into. I hope she goes for it and gets that slice of happiness before its inevitably blown all to kingdom come and when it does, I want her to own it and then move on. Hopefully she will move onto a relationship with Nikolas because if the last few days have shown me anything its that Becky and Tyler Christopher are some of the best acting partners on the show right now. Still I hope to enjoy watching Jake and Liz grow closer. Becky & Billy have great chemistry!

There were many fine performance at the NB this year but I can’t help but be disappointed with the writing for Liz. She had just finished telling Ric off for his lying and scheming and then she does the exact same thing!

I feel that these actions, on the part of Elizabeth, is totally out of character….that is why I feel so betrayed by what she did. Yes, the scenes were well acted but I’m looking for a cohesive story, not a writer’s folly!

I wish Liz would of told the truth, but her excuse is valid up to a point, especially regarding how all the other characters on the show get away with lying, that was point on., still, eve though RC was trying to show both sides, i feel he’s going to screw the liz character at the end. i can see it coming, the wrath of the likes of Carly, Sam, and Jake/Jason will follow mainly because its obvious that RC wants sam with jason. I’m still hoping jason doesn’t remember his old self, because i like this version better, hope he understands were liz was coming from. Okay, i have a lot to say about this storyline, but i’ll wait to see how it plays out. as for other things going on, oh my goodness can they stop playing ‘your not alone” , this song is so cheesy, i can’t stand it. i love little emma, but geeez how quickly she has moved on, she barely interacted with sabrina at all and vise versa, this is a great example of how bad RC is at continuity, why would little emma outright ignore Sabrina? patrick barely said hello, and how awkward for sabrina to have to perform with Sam. I see Duke biting the dust, how more obvious then to have Anna now wanting to reconscile right before he’s killed, gee thanks for the flashback it will make us all miss him less.. So heres what i’m going to do, i’m going to enjoy any scenes i get out of jake and Elisabeth, before RC starts his plot to make Elisabeth the towns most hated character once Carly Sam and company find out she kept a secret from their skank ass. I jake turns on her, hopefully theres still prince Nikolas, especially since he’s now claiming to have balls, hope he defends her when they decide to burn her at the stake..

Little Emma…and her daddy, Patrick…..have traded up! Why would they wax nostalgic over their old jalopy when they now have a sleek, shiny roadster model in their midst????? And Aria….thank you, thank you for mentioning your annoyance with that barf-inducing ballad “You’re Not Alone.” I thought I was the only one who had had it up to here with it.!!!!

No, Shay…I hated that number. Not a fan of that song, myself.
I just have my guard up….saying anything infinitesimally negative will cause to wake and erupt that monster, Vesuvius. There seems to be a persecuting league after me…LOL.

Rebecca Herbst is fantastic. While I’m dismayed by Elizabeth’s decision, she’s emotionally overwhelmed right now (far too much emotional stuff was thrown at her in a very short amount of time at the ball). Rebecca Herbst totally sold Elizabeth’s reasoning, making Elizabeth shake with emotion–and it made made sense from Elizabeth’s viewpoint because she hasn’t been treated well by many people while she tries to be a kind and compassionate person. She’s not perfect, but no soap character is. It wouldn’t be a soap if people were perfect. It was a wonderful performance.

I enjoyed the singing at the nurses’ ball. Throughout the year, I tend to forget that several of the actors and actresses can sing so it’s always fun to see them get to show off their other talents during the nurses’ ball.

I had been thinking that Rebecca Herbst’s performance throughout the Nurse’s Ball had been impressive, but yesterday she was breathtaking. Even a first-time viewer would’ve known that it was a pivotal moment for Elizabeth. Just the memory gives me goosebumps! Of course RH has had some fantastic scene partners in RiH and TC, who are always in the moment when they’re with her. (I hope Billy Miller can keep up LOL!) She and TC in particular achieve something truly special in every scene they share. I don’t know where this story for Elizabeth and Jake is going to end up, but I’m strapped in for a ton of angst and heartbreak, AND more of RH’s acting master class. As for the Nurse’s Ball itself, I enjoyed it this year. I thought all the numbers were entertaining – I didn’t even mind the Aveeno stuff.

Wow. What a terrible story. Elizabeth has grown so much as a character, yet they STILL have her lying. Of course she will be with Jason now, but once EVERYONE finds out she knew and lied, she will be an outcast and thus her feuds with Carly and Sam can begin again. So pathetic and shameful.

Gahh!!! Couldn’t agree more! So disappointed by the same old same old storytelling. RH/Liz deserve better than this!!!

Chrystie Delancey,

Yes, she just keeps repeating past mistakes, kind of like Maxie. However, I don’t think Liz will keep up the lie. I think she was overcome!! I don’t think she can go long knowing Danny doesn’t have his dad, and yes, Patrick can be a dad, but there’s no sub for your real dad. If Sam were to stay with Patrick he could have 2 dads! IF she didn’t really give a rip about Danny, she does care about Jake-omitting info about a son right there in PC for Jake will be too much for her, unless she’s pregnant with his child soon.

I LOVE the Nurse’s Ball, but I also was left saddened, but that’s okay, I’d rather watch the Ball and be sad than not watch it at all. As to the question, I do not believe that Elizabeth can hold to this. I agree with her, but Elizabeth is not selfish at the core and I believe that if there is a crack in anyone’s relationship – it’d change how she deals with it. That being said – she’s right, she does deserve happiness…but not at the expense of anyone else’s happiness and I think eventually she will crumble…as I believe so will Nicholas in his quest to become fully Prince Nicholas.

LiZ called Ric a snake but she is an even bigger asphole keeping Jason a secret…away from his family and friends…oh, Jason will learn the truth on his wedding day to Liz during November sweeps…Spenser not part of the nurses ball but manages to use the big screen…wish the little phantom dropped a chandelier on certain acts…where are the stagehands…Sabrina fired from the hospital but is in the nurses ball…yet NO MONICA!!!

Not to mention she has NO connection to Lulu, yet she took center stage for the Haunted Starletts number.

And add to that, we were subjected to her presence on stage FOUR different times, plus the ridiculous plug for the hand lotion….why didn’t they just call the event “Sapsterpalooza” and be done with it???? Gag me with a spoon….

Annnnddd, jimh….Only ONE number from our esteemed Dr. O.!!!!! That was absolutely criminal! (No pun intended…..)

OK.. I wanna say;
I like Jake.. I want to watch his journey..
I like Jake better than Jason..
I would like if Jake shows some of Jason traits, becomes a cross of Jason and Jake but I do not want Jason back, I’m luvin Jake!!!

but- Liz and her big mouth will ruin it, it is inevitable that somehow Jason will be revealed and that will really tick me off !!

I agree…Jake should show some of Jason traits and that will eventually happen…Jason will probably be revealed either on his wedding day to Liz or his son Danny will have a medical crises and Liz will be forced to tell Jake he is really Jason!!!

Jihm..
I believe Jason will be revealed during the Cassadine attempt to take over ELQ..
Jason’s stocks will be needed to keep it in Quartermain hands..
Jason’s reveal will be during the takeover.. imo

Maybe Aiden will be the one who has the medical crisis and Jake is a match! How can this be? Unless he really isn’t Jason at all .. he’s LUCKY! That would be a great twist, and Liz&Jake could live happily ever after ..

Liz will have her time with Jason but she is not an evil bitch like Carly. Liz will eventually come clean and do the right thing. I think the first thing she will do is try and work Danny into Jason’s life. That might spike Sam’s curiosity a bit. Carly will keep nipping at Jake’s heels and she will find something odd and maybe stumble onto the truth. Hayden might be the one to throw the truth in Carly’s face? Maybe Robin comes home and Jake has more flashes of his and her connection and HE remembers he is Jason and kicks Liz to the curb and runs back into Sams arms and Robin, played by Elizabeth Hendrickson, reunites with Patrick.

no no no Timmm,
Liz will not come clean..
She wants to be loved and Jake will love her and her bonus is that he is Jason..
I think RC/Team are sick and tired of Liz being a Mother Teresa, a change is a good thing for Liz..
This will go on through the Cassadines/Nik, taking over ELO story..
Somewhere in that story Jason will be reviled, not before..
but-
by then Jake will be so in love with Liz that he won’t want back with Sam..
He will forgive Liz..
There is sooooooooooo much more to come..
RC & FV and team are going to move more pieces before a checkmate in this game ..

I like bad Liz so I guess her sister will not be casted? Fans had talked about Sarah coming to PC to cause friction and stir things up. Liz does need more family even if her sister is a pain in the azz! I think Jim H. is right, Liz and Jake will hit the wedding chapel and his true identity will be revealed then and there. Maybe August? But like you said, there is a lot of story here so maybe this doesnt happen until November.

I like that, Su. The idea that Jason will emerge at the/during ELQ takeover….sound deduction.

We’ve long want EH as a recast Robin and i will continue to keep my fingers crossed…i also wish Monica was shown at the nurses ball…she is Jakesons stepmommy and should be on at least a couple of times of month…puzzled by why Jakeson seems familiar to her and eventually realizing he is her long thought dead son…i was just ok with the NB this year…some entertaining moments here and there…KG was my favorite moment with Red Balloons!!!

No Bobbie or Scotty either.

I believe Jake and Liz will set to marry and on their wedding day the truth will come out or Danny will have some medical problem and a guilty Liz will be forced to tell Jake he is really Jason…and hopefully Monica will be there when the truth comes out!!!

Monica who?

That sounds good too, jimh. I also think, jake’s memory won’t come all at once…he will remember in flashes….a little bit at a time. And then, BOOM….when the time is ripe. But, I think it needs to be something big to jar the flood of memories.

I WAS SURPRISED HOW TALENTED THE CAST IS…..CANT WAIT TO SEE EVEN MORE OF BILLY MILLER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SOCRE! Elizabeth Herbst should be front and center more than she is. This show needs a solid heroine among the quirky and criminal.

Loved the Nurses Ball but didn’t think there was enough acts this year. What’s really got me pissed off though is that we’re not getting the Jason reveal. I read we may not have this reveal until November. Really?? Haven’t we all waited long enough? Now Liz is keeping the secret so she’s really no better than Rick. Danny deserves to get to know his father. The producers dropped the ball on this one because this storyline has gone on WAY TOO LONG!!! Not a happy GH fan right now.

It is a bit of a disappointment when writers have women throw away their ethics and values for a man. I don’t see how the character Elizabeth I know could ever be happy lying day in and day out to the man she loves. Story wise I get this is the more interesting route, but eventually the truth will come out and her keeping the secret will backfire in her face. The only way Liz can have her happy ever after, is if Jake isn’t Jason, but some poor slob Helena conditioned to think he was Jason — and the real Jason, will eventually show up when Steve Burton ever decides to come back.

That’s what I said .. maybe Jake isn’t really Jason at all. It would be romantic if he turned out to be Lucky.

I think it’s super f_ _ _ _ _ _ selfish of Liz to be keeping the secret of Jake’s (Jason’s) true identity. He has a wife and son who love him very much. Sorry, but for now I’m not liking Liz at all for her decision. Sam and her son Danny have the right to know that Jason is alive. Makes me sick that Liz is behaving this way. I get it, she’s had a bad lunch K with all the men in her life, but it doesn’t excuse her decision. BAD ELIZABETH! Have his true identity be revealed already. Ugh!

Rebecca this should be your emmy reel for next year! I don’t get into the fights of who belongs with who because it is a soap and nobody stays together for long. I just bet you RC already has her pregnant by Ric and have her say it is Jake’s. Same old tango!

“oh, no” I hope not

it’s time for Liz to tango… with her own conviction…. irregardless of the circumstances

just to see her “acting” some thing any thing… just her flawless self… (well a tad thin)

radiant that she is… this could be a surefire win for the actress to act and show hidden layers to this beloved character

have to agree, tho , w/MarySF post… how could Liz… lie/lay with Jake… day in and day out… if she’s in love

LOL : am loving all the posts… what an intriguing turn with mystery !

I do agree with you, Timmm. I think Liz acted impulsively. She is, fundamentally, a good person, and she will fess up in due time. But, will it be too late?

Jake/Jason will feel BETRAYED, Carly and Sam will chew her up and
spit her out before roasting her over an open flame…
Will it be too late? Most likely. However before that all comes to pass…
I’d really like for Elizabeth to find a modicum of happiness with Jason,
if only 4 a little while. She loved him first, she’s loved him the longest.

Same here, Fanny. However, I see doom and gloom on the horizon for Liz.
I do not wish Carly’s wrath upon anyone. As you predict….many will chew Liz up and spit her out.
There is no good ending here….unless, Jake loves her enough to understand and forgive her.
I think she is acting without thinking. I mean….she’s a mother. Sooner or later, the bell will go off in her head that there is an innocent child in their midst (Danny) , who deserves to know his father.

I hope Liz finds her backbone moxie and chutzpa and (LOL) her bearings… whatever it takes to commando Carly and Sam

OK it wasn’t the 50th Anniversary Nurse’s Ball with Rick Springfield, Frisco, and Mumbles, but this years NB had some really good moments for me…Patrick and Emma’s duet, and Sabrina and Tiffany doing ‘You’re Not Alone.’’… But my favorites were Spinelli singing ‘It Might Be You,’ the theme song from Tootsie (a great “soap” movie), Ned/Eddie Main, Anna and Duke’s tango, and Dr. O and the Red Balloons.

And a big WOW to all of Lucy’s dresses/gowns. They stand at least on par with the probably-way-more-expensive-ones on other Red Carpets seen on prime-time networks, as do Lucy and many performers at the Nurses Ball.

Hint, hint…bring the Daytime Emmys to national tv so everyone can see them live.

Also, re: Elizabeth saying she will keep the Jake/Jason secret. Although not a big fan of this character (think Rebecca’s acting of late has been great), I think she’s just had a bit of a I’ve-had-it-breakdown because of the final Rick fiasco. This kind of lie is not her style, even though she has also crossed the line in the past when she cheated on Lucky with his brother Nikolas. Just hope she fesses up before she’s discovered. Probably not because this is GH.

I loved the musical performances by everyone, especially Patrick and Emma. It just does not seem right without Robin. Oh how I wish someday she returns.

Well, I think she should woman up and tell the dude (Jason) the truth. I think it is time for every selfish person to stop lying to the man. Tired of this to say the least!

First let me say that Rebecca / Elizabeth was undoubtedly the loveliest woman
at the nurses ball. From the dress to the hair and makeup, perfectly executed.
When she tries to make Nik understand that it’s now her turn, her chance at
happiness with Jake/JASON. Elizabeth makes you feel what’s in her heart…
Unfortunately it will be short lived, since every time “Jake” comes across Sam
he gets a sense of déjà vu, in his case déjà lived. It will all come to a head because
Sam will be the catalyst that unleashes Jake/Jason’s memory.
Elizabeth still had a chance to explain, before she asked him to stay…
Oh Elizabeth, what have you done….

RC and FV did not bring Bikky Miller over to be ‘thee’ Jason..
SB owns ”stone cold” for 22 years, not replaceable..
But-
Jake will be on a journey to find out who he will be, which direction he will go..
Billy Miller is nothing like SB, not at all.. So Billy will not be Stone Cold..
I think Jake will be a hybrid mix of Jake and Jason, but he will not be ”thee’ Jason..
He is Jason but he will not be Jason;Jason in name only .. way I see it..

Fanny,
A few things I don’t understand:

If it dawned on her that when he remembered the name “Jake” when he woke up that “he was remembering their son”, which he was, does she think the remembering stops there? How about when he remembered, or should I say, felt something familiar about The Quartermaine’s pics hanging on the hospital wall? Their pics and names were familiar-she was the one he told. I guess she ignored Carly or Patrick’s mouth that blabbed in front of her in the GH hospital room after his last surgery that Jake had been having intimate “dreams” or “flashes” of him&Sam having sex.

I’ll start this w/a possible spoiler that I don’t think will come to pass:
I saw a while ago Jake would flash back to carrying a woman in his arms & the woman looks not alive. ??? Doesn’t mean she was dead. But, someone suggested perhaps it’s when Jason carried Robin offstage at the 1st Nurse’s Ball in 96 I think..? A few wks ago Jake was at Patrick’s and saw a pic of Robin & recognized her face (been waiting&waiting for that!!). Although Patrick had smoke rolling from his ears when Jake said that & Sam said he must have just seen her pic at Liz’s, Jake knew better but quit trying to convince them. Liz doesn’t know that I don’t think. But FF to the current Nurse’s Ball, and for some IGNORANT, MINDLESS, OOPSIE reason Liz gets onstage & tells the story of when Jason carried Robin offstage at the 1st nurse’s ball (that she wasn’t even in town yet for IDT). Jason cared deeply for Robin. She was some would argue, his 1st love. Liz knows this. I’d say zip about Jason from here on out if she wants to move on w/him, not jog his memory!! Just my opinion.

Laurie, UR right on all fronts.

Exactly, Laurie. I said the same thing. These flashes are paving the road to all of Jake’s dormant memories to reawaken. Bits and pieces of them. When he will finally remember? All these images will make sense soon enough…..in living color.
You also make the most important point, I think , when you say that the images don’t just stop there.
It is pretty foolish of Liz to thing that Jake’s memory would not return. She’s a nurse, for goodness sake. She cannot be that dumb.
This is why I think she is not thinking rationally.
I don’t know much about Liz, but I’ve witnessed her regret the rash decisions she makes.
As I said, the only way for Liz and Jake to make it, is for her to come clean…honesty is the only way. Is Liz the type to live with such a life-changing lie?
If Jake’s love for Liz is strong, he will forgive her . She did not want to lose him…thus, the duplicity, that would be her explanation, as twisted as that reasoning that may be.
Also, once Jake remembers he has a wife and son, there is no guarantee that he will remain with Liz. He may discover that his love for Sam is steadfast….that she means more to him than Liz. Then what? Will Sam choose to stay with Patrick? What a dilemma….perfect soap fodder.

……waiting for MS.THING to get whats coming to her…

can’t wait to see Danny…+ His mother…..

Sam get Olivia…

where is Silas ?

I understand Elizabeth’s reasons for keeping the Jake is Jason secret. However, I find it character assassination. I would prefer she tell only Jake the truth and let what happens happen. He could decide to stay with her anyway or at least until he remembers who he is.

I never cared that she cheated on Lucky time and time again. Elizabeth is a flawed character. I’d like her to tell Jake because she doesn’t want to lie and cheat like everyone else. Did I just say she cheated on Lucky…

Shame on Elizabeth !!! How selfish can someone be !!! Her negligence cost Jason one son and now her selfishness is costing him another. I HATE this storyline. Send Hayden packing and bring back Brit !!! Love Ellie and Spinelli back together. Sabrina should be with Patrick. Sam and Patrick are boring !!!! Michael is boring with any woman he’s been with. Morgan needs to take over the Mob along with Kiki !!!

I agree Patty! She lies and manipulates all the time. She acts like she lost Lucky because of someone else’s actions, uh nope, you slept with his Brother. You lied about all 3 of your kids Daddy’s, then used Jake against Jason. What did Monica ever do to her? She is keeping her only living child from her too, not to mention Danny. I love how she said, Patrick will be his Dad. Wow, just cause your kids don’t have a father doesn’t mean Danny doesn’t need his real one. I can’t wait for Carly to lay the smack down on her for this lie.

Love Becky. Would be great if you actually interviewed her. So glad she is getting a story line these days that is worthy of her talent.

What was the name of the song played in the love scene with Jake and Liz on Thursday May 7th. I can’t find it anywhere !

Just a little question about the spoiler about Jason carrying a body that looks not to be alive. Remember he carried Emily when she died and that was his sister so maybe he remembers her?

I just caught up after being on vacation!!

I LOVED, LOVED LOVED the performance Rebecca gave as Elizabeth!!! SO glad she is getting meaty material. For that reason I will continue to watch and hope they right this wrong of her keeping Jake Doe’s identity secret. May she come to her senses soon and be brave enough to weather the heartache.

Great set up… now surprise me Ron!

Nancy Lee Grahn’s Star-Studded ALS Fundraiser Reveals “I’ll Be There” Video Featuring Soap Opera Notables

Talk about your impressive line-up! It’s a soap fans dream and for a great cause. General Hospital’s Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) is prepping her one-night only ALS fundraiser which will feature many of her friends and co-stars.

The benefit is set for May 4th in Glendale, California. Slated to participate are Genie Francis, Jane Elliot, Peter Bergman, Maurice Benard, Eileen Davidson, Thorsten Kaye, Michelle Stafford, Stephen Nichols, Rena Sofer, Jason Thompson, Kelly Monaco, Melissa Claire Egan, Maura West, Kristina Wagner, Gregory Harrison, Trevor St. John, Kate Mansi, Kirsten Storms, Cynthia Watros, and many others.

On Wednesday, Grahn took to her social media and released an “I’ll be there” video shout-out featuring, Monaco, Elliot, Bergman, Bernard, West, Harrison, St. John and more. In a touching and important moment in the new video, Michelle Strogny, who is battling ALS, is featured.

Photo: ABC

Previously, in speaking with Soap Opera Digest on the impetus of the event, Grahn recalled, “I was actually doing Zoom events during Covid and I met this woman that I just fell in love with, Michelle Strojny. At the time, Michelle had been living with ALS for four years. Now, it’s five years. She is a mom of a teenage son, she has the most wonderful husband, and she has been dealing with this [disease] for quite a while. And obviously, there isn’t a cure yet. It’s not survivable yet. But as she says, it’s not incurable. Nothing is; it’s underfunded. But anyway, I just really dug this woman. She is so grounded and filled with grace, and she spends all of her time working to raise money for the cause. We did a fundraiser for her last year and then I thought, ‘You know what? The soaps don’t ever get together to do something for charity.’ Collectively, we have this amazing community and we don’t collectively use it for a good cause, and I think it’s such an easy thing for us to do and we could potentially really make a difference.”

As GH viewers know, Gregory Harrison is playing the character of Gregory Chase, who is also battling ALS in a touching storyline that is currently playing out shedding a light on this disease.

‘General Hospital’ Writer Shannon Peace Let Go, and Shares on Sprina: “One of My Only Regrets is to Not Have the Opportunity to Develop That ‘Ship’ Further”

As General Hospital’s new head writing team of Elizabeth Korte and Patrick Mulcahy gets off the ground and running, there are still changes a foot on the writing team.

Now comes word via breakdown writer Shannon Peace that she is no longer on contract with the long-running ABC soap heading into its 61st season. Peace shared a heartfelt message on her Instagram, thanking the fans, and the show for the opportunity and the importance of diversity in the writers room.

Peace began, “After almost 3 years on staff and 106 episodes penned, I am no longer on contract with General Hospital. Writing for this country’s longest running television serial drama has been an education of epic proportions; I will forever be grateful that I earned my WGA card on a daytime fixture that holds memories for so many.” (Peace pictured below with GH EP Frank Valentini and script writer, Charlotte Gibson from about ten months ago).

Shannon added “Even more importantly, as the sole Black breakdown writer (and only POC in the writers room) during my tenure, I pushed for vital interactions and discussions that prioritized inclusion, visibility, and representation”

The writer pointed to the example of vital interaction when in story, “Stella and Portia’s frank July 2022 conversation about the role race played in Esme’s framing of Trina is just one example of the impact I’m gratified to have had.”

Acknowledging former GH co-head writers was also part of Peace’s farewell expressing, “Appreciation to my former bosses, Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor – not only taking a chance on me, but for valuing my opinion and championing my voice.”

Many GH fans know that Peace was key to the development of the love story between Trina Robinson and Spencer Cassadine as played by Tabyana Ali and Nicholas Chavez. Shannon gave a special shout-out to ‘Sprina’ fans, “I also want to thank fans who were supportive of my work, especially the recognition of my love for ‘Sprina’. One of my only regrets is not having to develop that ‘ship’ further.”

She concludes her statement with,”In the aftermath of a historic writer’s strike that shed new light on the troubling ways writers are regarded in daytime, my sincere hope is that General Hospital recommits to valuing staff writer efforts and input, with a more intentional focus on diverse viewpoints — and thrives for another 60 years.”

Accompanying her post, Shannon added, “Thank you all for the love and support these last few years. I hope GH fans get all they hope for and more!”

So, what do you think about GH not renewing Shannon’s contract? Will there be more continued changes afoot? What do you think is the future of ‘Sprina’ anyway at this point as viewers wait to see if Nicholas Chavez officially returns to the show?  Comment below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Learns Britt Died and Tells Anna He Has Been Working For Cates Since November 2021

On the Tuesday, March 26th of General Hospital, Anna (Finola Hughes) and the viewers learn about where Jason (Steve Burton) has been for over two and half years. However, Jason gets some news of his own.

Anna is visiting Jason at the PCPD interrogation room. She asks him if he shot Dante (Dominic Zamprogna), which he flatly denies. Anna believes him, but she tells Jason it doesn’t matter, because video footage shows him on the roof at the time of the shooting

When talk turns to Jason not willing to speak without his lawyer present, Anna can’t grasp why Jason would instead spend an hour alone talking with John Cates (Adam J. Harrington).

Photo: ABC

It is then that Anna brings up that John went by “Jagger” and that the two of them knew each other in high school. Jason doesn’t recall much of his time in high school following his brain injury, but then he gets furious realizing John knew about “Jason’s” past. That is when Jason slams the table and tells Anna, “I’ve been working for John Cates since November 2021.”

Next, Jason explains further that he has been working as an informant for the FBI. Anna wants to know how this came about and he tells her that after the tunnel collapsed, and he couldn’t make it to Britt (Kelly Thiebaud)… all of a sudden he sees Anna’s face drop.  Anna is the first person to tell him that Britt died and was murdered. She tells Jason the killer is in custody, but he continues to be shocked, overwhelmed with tears welling up in his eyes. Realizing he has to pivot to save his life, Jason continues telling Anna how he wound up working with John.

Jason explains that after the tunnel collapse in Greece, FBI agents grabbed him and placed him under arrest and took him to Quantico where he met John. At Quantico, John played a recording of RICO violations and offered Jason a deal if he agreed to be an informant against Pikeman, the illegal arms dealer.

Anna hears from Jason that he thinks Pikeman is selling illegal arms to anyone flagged by the NSA but has ties to the WSB which they needed a civilian to infiltrate their organization as a military soldier, a mercenary.

Jason tells Anna he was a part of the team brought into eliminate Sonny (Maurice Benard). Every time an attempt was made on Sonny’s life over the last two years, a different team was sent to do the job. Anna gets furious when she learns that John told Jason his job was to kill Sonny and she was with John at the warehouse that night. Jason ensured the sniper missed Sonny and left the rifle behind. However, they were supposed to meet an extraction team. Before he was shot, Dante saw it was Jason on the roof and when he turned around with his hands over his head, Dante was shot by the other guy. Jason says if Dante dies, he’ll be charged with capital murder and then will be useless to the FBI.

Photo: ABC

Meanwhile, John visits Bobbie’s and runs into Carly (Laura Wright). She learns Jason is in custody and is going to head to the PCPD. Before she does, Carly has some words with Cates when she learns not only does John have a vendetta against Sonny, but Jason too.  Carly tells John he should recuse himself from the case.

So, what did you think about the moment when Jason learned Britt died? What do you think of Jason’s return storyline thus far and what we learned about Jagger/Jason and more? Comment below. But first, check out a moment from today’s GH with Jason and Anna.
