DAYS Alum Jensen Ackles on ‘The Winchesters’ Inability to Find New Home is a Case of ‘Unfortunate Timing’

Photo: SXSW

Former Supernatural, Big Sky, and Days of our Lives star, Jensen Ackles (ex-Dean, ex-Beau, ex-Eric) took to social media on Saturday when the news broke that his series, The Winchesters, in which he executive produced, has run out of options to find a new home.

The show which aired for one season on the CW was a prequel to Supernatural.   In an update, The Winchesters producing studio, Warner Bros, attempted to find another network or streaming partner to move forward with the series after its cancellation.

Now comes word that all avenues have been exhausted.  All this, even though a #SavetheWinchesters campaign led by Ackles, himself, was attempted to bring some attention and heat on the show.

Jensen expressed his ‘thanks’ to the viewers and cited the current WGA writer’s strike as one of the main contributing factors to making the search for a new home for the series extremely daunting.

Ackles shared: “To all of you who watched, followed, and supported this story, THANK YOU. And to all those who brought this show to life…I couldn’t be more proud of what we all did together. But as they say…timing is everything. With a massive Network shift coupled with an industry strike…welp…that’s some unfortunate timing. Sleep well dear  @WinchestersOnCW…until we meet again. Somewhere down the road.”

Sure hope The Winchesters can make a return to TV. It was getting started.

Jensen is so cute

I love both series & would appreciate it if they would be shown!!!

I really, really, really hope it comes back. My mom got me into watching Supernatural, and when it was over it broke her heart. And when she passed it broke my heart. Then you gave me the Winchester’s and had to watch, cause I know she would want me too. It’s like watching Supernatural all over again with her in spirit. We loved you guys

I’m really disappointed that The Winchesters was cancelled. I really hope it makes it back on Netflix. Maybe

Have been a fan from the begin I can’t believe that some other network willnot pick up the new show

Jensen Ackles displayed grace and class with his statement. Hopefully we will get to see him in The Boys. I have been a long time fan and think he is a wonderful actor. I loved the way he and Bobby got together on The Winchester’s. It was also a great prequel to Supernatural. Timing is everything in this life so I guess it just wasn’t meant to be.

The way these networks are cancelling good shows, makes it seem like they’re trying to force us to pay for all of these streaming services, just to watch anything decent.

Me and my husband watch Supernatural. We start at the beginning and watch until season 11 or 12 then start from the beginning again. We have not finished the series yet and don’t know when we will. I’m pretty sure it because it’s so good and we don’t want it to end. We don’t worry too much because we bought the series so we will have it forever. I know we will be watching it when we are 80 or 90. I want to watch the Winchesters when we finally do finish Supernatural so I hope the show keeps going. This are the best series we’ve ever watched. So I know The Winchesters won’t disappoint.

I liked the Winchester prequel.
I hope it can find a home in the future

I loved The Winchester’s. I thought the characters were awesome and the cast did such an amazing job.

The show was really interesting, you just really get into a show and then they cancel them. They need to take a pole with the people. Not the network decide who to cancel. I’m not happy that they took this off the air, I hope it comes back. Jansen is a great actor. They have cancelled so many of my programs now here goes another one.

I recorded and watched every episode of the Winchesters and hated to see the show end. Hopefully in the future Jensen will be able to bring the show back

May they comeback the cast, the writer, the producer, and it needs to go longer for us to know the crew! Hopefully, when these strikes are over and the writers and everyone else on set has comfortably livable pay can it return.

If it returns, it needs a complete overhaul. Stick to cannon and find actors who actually have some chemistry because, as a fan of Supernatural from the beginning, The Winchesters was bad. I mean, really bad. It would also benefit from better writers. The whole thing came across as a rushed mess, which is sad.

Kristian Alfonso Returns to Days of our Lives for Tribute to The Late Bill Hayes

After a few weeks of Days of our Lives fans being upset that Kristian Alfonso (Hope Williams) was not on the first list of initial returns for Doug Williams’ funeral and episodes honoring his portrayer, the late Bill Hayes, comes word that the popular star is back and taping scenes.

Kristian reported to work on the Peacock streaming soap opera on Monday, April 22nd. She shared how important it is for her to be back for this particular return to the show that made her a household name.

“My return is very bittersweet,” Alfonso told TV Insider,  “because it is the end of an era with Bill gone. So to return to Days is very sad. I am appreciative that they came to me to include me in their series of shows honoring Doug and I’m very happy to see everyone, but I’m entering the studio with a heavy heart.”

It was back in 1983 that Kristian first debuted as Doug’s daughter, and now 41 years later looking back at it, and her time with Bill Hayes is very emotional for her.

“I remember my first scenes with him/ He was very loving, very welcoming. That he was very talented and an incredible actor and an icon, that all goes without saying, but my personal relationship and my working relationship with Bill, it was home,” expressed Alfonso. “Doing the scenes with Bill, I felt like I was with my dad because there was so much warmth and reality.”

Photo: JPI

Alfonso did express some deep regret, in that she had wanted to work with Bill Hayes during her last appearance on the soap back in 2023, but according to the iconic actress, there was something in the works but it never materialized.  “I’m sad that I did not get the opportunity to do the storyline that Ron (Carlivati, head writer) had planned/ It was great; we returned to Salem to reunite with our families and I would have had father/daughter scenes with Billy. What Ron had written was beautiful and emotional and it was a fantastic story. I was 100 percent for it and the fans would have loved it.”

As for if Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope will be back on-screen together anytime soon, Kristian would only say, “What I will say is don’t give up hope.” Doug’s passing and memorial episodes will stream later this year come late November into December.

So, are you happy to learn that Kristian Alfonso is back taping episodes surrounding Doug’s memorial episodes? Comment below.
