Courtesy/IMDB

In the news this Monday morning is the fact that Justin Gatson is no longer playing Jordan’s (Chrishell Stause) brother, Ben on Days of our Lives!

Soap Opera Digest is reporting that none other than former All My Children reboot hottie, and current The Price is Right male model, Rob Scott Wilson (Ex-Pete Cortlandt) had indeed replaced Gatson in the role of Ben! Wilson was even on hand at DAYS on set celebration in late January for the sudser’s renewal by NBC.

And as fans know, DAYS tapes four months ahead of its airdates, so Wilson not appear on air till later in May, but obviously this switched happen sooner than later!

What do you think of Rob replacing Justin?  Let us know!

He is nice looking. But it occurs to me a lot of actors have come and gone for one character. Whatever could be the problem?

He’s only the first recast, right? The character just started appearing a short time ago onscreen, although I know he’s been filming for a while.

It sounds to me like TPTB saw something not working and just decided to make the change sooner rather than later.

I like Rob Scott Wilson. It took him a while to get up some steam as Pete Courtlandt in the AMC reboot but I think in the end he was doing a fine job. I’ll be happy to see him in the role.

I’m glad I don’t watch “Days of Our Lives.” I did watch “All My Children” and oh boy is he bad.

Doesnt bother me one way or the other…both Jordan and Ben are boring mainly because Jordans story is moving at a snail pace(maybe if Eve turns out to be their momma might help)…Days, however, is still a good show!!!

I’ve been thinking Eve should have kids. Of course she dating Frankie at one time & I thought it would be cool if she had his kid & he didn’t know. I miss Frankie.

Id rather had the actor playing Liam play a recast Frankie instead!!!

I have to agree… they need to step up to the plate…

forever, and a DAY

what’s with all the ID’s… I’m still waiting this out…. I like Chrishelle’ Jordan

she’s not wearing her glasses any more.. and when I first saw her… with straightened out hair… I immediately, thought of Carrie…. humm? w/Rafe

what with Sheryl GONE TOO soon… and a recast for her brother… not that it much matters with him… as he’s just started….

altho… when I watched this model…. act on nuAMC as Petey… for the most part I wasn’t taken in by him… so… another missing piece… with this Jordan mix

at this point… she’s got to start having MORE connections… to the canvas… and characters for us to start caring… and at this point… starting all over again… with no Sheryl and recast Ben….

I hope your idea that Eve… is somehow connected… should kick start this BIG

I’m guessing Jordan and Ben are twin brothers. Ben feels frustrated that he lost his brother. Sheryl dated male Jordan and kept his/her secret. Eve shows up and all hell breaks loose!!! Who’s their daddy?

This is further proof the reboots of AMC and OLTL arent coming back…PP would be better off creating a weekly one hour serial if it still considering doing soaps…anyway what happened to the studio and sets where the reboots were filmed? PP could reuse them for other future projects like the weekly serial i suggested…in any case this ‘new’ Ben looks like another actor who couldve been a recast Chad but whats with all the models…arent there any real actors in Hollywood, and remember when soaps hired stage performers instead?

Models transitioning to acting have been happening for a long-time, many turned out for the better especially if they have the passion and drive for the craft.

I think the pace is due to the nature of the story: Jordan and Ben are twin brothers!

Jordans a man? Rafe didnt notice when he slept with him…i mean her…him…her?

LOVE rob!!!

I wonder what happened? but I should not be surprise because this happen all the time on Soaps.

I’m sorry, but like his wife (Melissa Ordway, Y&R), I don’t think Justin is that talented. This is a welcome change.

why do you have to be rude? i love melissa ordway on yr and i thought justin was doing a great job. he hasnt had much screen time but he’s great to look at and could really develop into the part. no need to be negative.

I agree Maggie! Justin was doing a great job and I liked him as Ben. to Bad they replaced him. I enjoyed watching him.

Not sure what happened– but I think he would have made a better recast Chad than Ben, but if they are going for a Chad like vibe for a pairing up with Abigail I guess this makes sense. Also he has a following that might come with him to DAYS, which I am sure play some part in their decision– also he looks more like her brother than the other guy did. I wasn’t too attached to the former Ben yet, so I am glad they are changing it now before I did.

The problem is Ben could be Abby’s brother. Ben and Jordan can be twin brothers, but maybe they have different fathers. If the fans like Abby and Ben together, then Ben can be Frankie’s son and Jordan can be Jack’s son/daughter.

My GUESS would be that the new actor is just plain uninteresting in the new role. This happened on AMC a few years ago when the son of Erica Kane was quickly replaced by another actor.
Sometimes the producers feel that there just aren’t any sparks happening anywhere and I knew it would be just a matter of time before Rob Wilson, who did very well on the short-lived Reboot of ALL MY CHILDREN would land another role. I figured he would eventually wind up in Salem on Days of Our Lives. The character of Jordan is played by an Actress also from AMC and even EJ is originally from AMC.

Good choice! Looking forward to what hottie Rob brings to the role! I like the chemistry between Rafe and Jordan but Days has been dragging their feet on their story. It has all the promise of being good so why the hesitation in telling it? I’m hoping it’s because they were waiting to make this switch and now they have Rob in place as Ben the mystery story can finally unfold. I’m interested, so make things happen!

sad, sad news… they don’t give people any time to warm up and get into the role.

I never liked Justin from when he was on Nashville Star. I thought he was overrated and was getting by on his looks, which I didn’t think were all the great.

I was okay with him on Days. Just wish Jordan’s story would move along faster. Maybe this new guy will be more likeable.

I feel kinda sorry for JUSTIN GASTON – he really wasn’t given a chance to breathe any kind of life into the character of the mysterious Ben. Surely it takes more than just a few weeks to get one’s footing into a role. It’s not his fault that the character has barely had anything to do other than to show up, get a bartender’s job and apparently annoy his “sister”.

So happy for Rob! I loved him on AMC. I wish him all the best!

I was actually quite impressed with Rob Wilson on the AMC reboot. I really wasn’t expecting him to be as good as he was. Honestly, I only watched because he’s absolutely gorgeous and probably the most perfect male specimen on daytime. So, guess I’ll start watching Days again if he’s going to be on there, haha.

Thank God , now get rid of Jordan please! !!!!!! !!!

Actually surprised the character will still be around come May. Ben and Jordan are one of the weak points in the show.

I agree.

I think Jordan and Ben are twin brothers. Jordan had a sex change.

I liked the actor on AMC 2.0. That said, your SL about Jordan is unreal. I wonder if the writers could pull that off! (no kind of pun intended!) 🙂

Justin was very wooden and bland in a role that isn’t particularly exciting to begin with. Maybe this casting change will perk things up in that area.

Justin was wooden and Jordan lost his wood!

I wish Justin Gatson all the best but this isn’t the first time something like this happened on soaps.I’m sure when DOOL hired Justin they thought they hired the right actor for the role of Ben but things may have changed behind the scenes.Plus it could be better they do it now when the character is still new then later.

I saw the AMC reboot and this young guy can actually act and has screen presence..Like someone mention before, this Jordan story is dragging on like there is no tomorrow. Hopefully we will find out what secrets this family are keeping..The show is once again getting good and heading into May sweeps, I have a feeling we are in for a great ride.

If there was one person on the AMC/OLTL reboot that was going to find another job, it was Rob Wilson. He can actually juggle this role and his Price is Right role better since they’re both located in LA.

Oh I think he might wave bye bye to PRICE IS RIGHT – probably not terribly challenging for him. This role on Days could be the break he was looking for.

The first actor who portrayed Ben seemed very green, very uncomfortable on-air. Perhaps a new actor, not sure. I think this storyline of Jordan, her secret, her and Ben, and her and Rafe having the same conversation over and over again has run its course. Also, Kate trying to run Jordan out of town is a waste of Lauren Koslow’s (sp) talent. I think Ben and Jordan were abused and Jordan murdered her attacker-probably her father or step-father. At this time, I could really care less. Snooze-fest!

I think he’s going to be a better Ben. Glad he finally got another soap because he was a good Peter Cortlandt. It’s a shame what happened to AMC. So many good stories left in mid-sentence.

Rob looks more like his on screen twin brother, Jordan!

I doubt they are twins — but at least that would be interesting ~
the storylines on Days are sooooo drawn out – good acting, good direction but they need to speed it up a bit. Enough already with Nicole shredding those stupid papers and just how many months do we have to wait until we find out why Jordan is running from her brother – now the storyline is Daniel getting sick because a Pharmacy Rep keeps spicing his morning protein drink with Dilaudid, a powerful opiate derivative which everyone on the show by the way mispronounces.

LOL

Thank You, for the spell check

I still can’t get over… how much the DOOL production… wears heavily… on and for… Daniel and Jenn

I’m gobsmacked… to the gills

would that Daniel should hook and imbibe some… geez! give us a break.. on the god like persona…

EVERY one… boosting and equivocating Melissa Reeves’ Jennifer… is beyond repair…

Daniel and Jenn continue to be the weakest links… on the canvas

I was so over… and near livid… when… even “Father” Eric… lambasting.. and swearing… the death of Theresa.. at the Pub… come clean… if you know any thing… about : rescue Daniel…. thee Daniel… forever, Daniel… and tired Jenn

Give me a break

Is he one of the gay couples on DOOL?

I love both Justin and Rob but Justin was kinda bland as the Ben character. I think Rob is a much better fit for the role.

Carol Burnett Talks About Being a Superfan of ‘All My Children’ on ‘Live with Kelly and Mark’

In a heartfelt reunion, of sorts, the one and only Carol Burnett appeared on Monday March 25th episode of Live with Kelly and Mark.

Burnett had first met Kelly Ripa (Hayley) and Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo) back when they all appeared on All My Children together. Carol played Verla Grubbs first in 1983 and then again in the 90’s.

Host Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley, AMC) noted to Burnett that “we go back a long time”. She also described Burnett’s character of Verla Grubbs, “extraordinary in every way.”

Carol’s love for All My Children is well-documented, hence legendary soap creator, Agnes Nixon, created the role of Verla for Burnett.

Speaking on how her passion for All My Children began, Carol told Kelly and Mark, “It started with my kids. They would watch at noon. I said, ‘What are you guys doing?’ I sat down and I started to watch and I got hooked!”

When Carol’s family decided to travel through Europe during one summer, the comedic legend recalled thinking, “How am I going to last if I don’t know what’s going on in Pine Valley?” She revealed she had a friend, “who sent me a telegram to the (different hotels) on Fridays to bring me up to date.”

In a hilarious moment from the segment, Carol recalled receiving a late night telegram while in Lake Cuomo when there was a knock at her hotel room door from the hotel manager who was shaking.

Carol related what it said, “Erica is still in a coma. Mark slipped again and ran away from rehab.” As Kelly and Mark broke into laughter, Burnett continued, “Chuck has learned that Donna is carrying his baby, who was once a hooker.”

Check out Carol explaining how she became an AMC Superfan below.

Malachy McCourt, ‘Ryan’s Hope’ and ‘All My Children’ Actor, Dead at 92

If you watched Ryan’s Hope through its 14-year-run, you know that Kevin the bartender became a beloved “member’ of the Ryan clan on the defunct ABC daytime drama series. The character of Kevin MacGuiness became so loved by the fans because of the actor who portrayed him, Malachy McCourt.

Sadly, according to his wife Diana McCourt to The New York Times, Malachy passed away on Monday from a heart condition and battling cancer. The actor was 92-years-old.

Playing Kevin on Ryan’s Hope was not much of a stretch for McCourt, because in his lifetime, he was the owner of 1950s Irish pub Malachy’s on Third Avenue in Manhattan. Known as one of the city’s great story-tellers, patrons from longshoremen to the actor Richard Harris would stop in and talk all things Irish with . On Ryan’s Hope, Kevin was best friends to “Ryan’s Bar” owner, Johnny Ryan (Bernie Barrow) and he tried to keep Delia (Ilene Kristen) on the straight and narrow.

In his soap opera career, McCourt also was widely-known for his role of Father Clarence McCourt on All My Children especially come Christmastime. Was Clarence, actually St. Nick? That was always the proverbial question. McCourt also appeared on the New York soaps: One Life To Live, Search For Tomorrow and Another World. Other roles included: Devil’s Own, Brewster’s Millions, The Molly Maguires, and Starman, to name

Later in 2006, Malachy ran for governor of the state of New York as a Green Party candidate. He tackled social issues of the time including being an advocate for gay and lesbian groups to march in the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

McCourt’s childhood was recounted within his brother Frank McCourt’s Pulitzer Prize-winning memoir Angela’s Ashes, which detailed their mother’s attempt to raise the four of their surviving seven children in poverty in Limerick, Ireland. Later, Malachy wrote his own memoirs: 1998’s Monk Swimming, and 2000’s Singing My Him Song.

Malachy is survived by his aforementioned wife, Diana, daughter Siobhan McCourt; sons Malachy Jr., Conor and Cormac; stepdaughter Nina Galin; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
