DAYS Rob Scott Wilson Dishes On "Killer Ben", The Reveal & The Opportunity Of A Soap Lifetime!

Courtesy/NBC

In the killer of all reveals, last week Days of our Lives in a did-not-see-that-coming moment – let it be known to viewers that none other than Ben Weston is the Necktie Killer!  The once charming good guy has now quickly become quite creepy.  And as any DAYS fans know, nobody does serial killer storylines like the NBC soap, which is about to celebrate its 50th anniversary come November.

Relishing the twist is actor Rob Scott Wilson, who gets to play the disturbed young man so deeply in love with Abigail (Kate Mansi), and betrayed by her at the same time, that he wants his rival Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) out of the picture by any means necessary.  For Ben, that is framing the guy for the murders of: Serena Mason (Melissa Archer), Paige Larson (True O’Brien), and the attempted murder of Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall).  But there is much more to the story to come, and as DAYS promised the rest of Salem will learn the identify of the killer come the series anniversary week.

On-Air On-Soaps spoke to Rob to talk about the character turn, and how he was able to keep it a secret from his cast mates, and just how large the Salem body count will be! Wilson also gives some insight into: what’s driving Ben to commit murder, the key moments in the reveal scenes, previews what to come, and the terrific opportunity that has been afforded him by the DAYS brass to show the darker side of his acting chops.  From his first big break as first male model on The Price is Right, to playing Pete Cortlandt on the online reboot of All My Children, “Killer Ben” is definitely a departure for Rob.  However, he is more than up for the challenge of making this now very troubled bad boy, one role that soap fans will not soon forget!

So, Serena and Paige’s murders had occurred, and you did not know at that time that Ben was going to turn out to be the necktie serial killer?

Courtesy/NBC

ROB:  Right.  I didn’t know about that, but it opened up an awesome opportunity.  I got exactly what I overall wanted – not in the form of killing pretty girls (laughs), but just in terms of this storyline.  I have so much great stuff coming up, and it has been a blast.

Let’s talk about the big reveal scene that aired last week on Thursday’s episode of DAYS.  Ben takes out a blue plastic container and in it are neckties … and what was in the plastic bag  …  flower petals?

ROB:  That he was smelling?  That was a big bag of weed! (Laughing)  No! It’s the flowers from the DiMera garden that Ben planted next to the bodies!

For a second when I was watching it, I was like, “Wait!  Maybe Ben was smoking weed as he prepares to go kill people!” (Laughs)

Courtesy/NBC

ROB:  Awesome! (Laughs)  Maybe we should tell our head writers; Josh Griffith and Dena Higley that! (Laughs)

What happened when you told people in the DAYS cast you were the serial killer?

ROB:  I kept it to myself for awhile. I let Kate Mansi know a little bit of what was going on, because we worked together.  I probably told her about a month and a half or two months down the road.   It’s a game you play.   It’s an actor’s power to have something like that.  It was so funny.  Everyone on set was wondering if they were going to get fired, or be killed!  Everyone was walking around on egg shells in the studio, or hair and make-up, and it was nice to know I had this secret the whole time.  I took a lot of pleasure in that.  It was fun. (Laughs)  I did not tell anyone.

What has been so interesting is that many DAYS fans have been commenting on social media and on my website, that there is no way that Ben is the killer.  They believe Ben is a red-herring for the real killer, even with last week’s reveal. (Laughs)

Courtesy/NBC

ROB:  Hopefully, in the next couple of months they will believe, and see that it is Ben.  They will see plenty!  It’s been crazy, and it’s been awesome all the people that have been reaching out to me. Usually, I see a lot of the same people on Twitter commenting, but now my Twitter feed has kind of blown up since the reveal.  That has been fun to watch, because nobody expected it.  But to what you are saying Michael, I did see that.  A lot of people were saying, “No, way!  It has to be someone else.  It’s not Ben!”

Some fans are of the belief that the killer is really Dr. Daniel (Shawn Christian)! (Laughs)

ROB: Good! Let them think that! (Laughs)

Another big murder is coming shortly.  I think for murdering the next victim, you are either going to be more loved, or more hated by the fans!  Wouldn’t you say?

ROB:  Oh, yeah.  There is a lot more to this story.  I think the fans are going to be very interested to see how it all plays out.

Will viewers learn more insight into what is causing Ben to be a serial killer?  Obviously, he is so distraught over his girl, Abigail lying to him, and he knows that she slept with Chad.  Thus, he wants to frame Chad for the crimes and get him out of their lives.  But, is there even more of a back-story to Ben that would cause this most heinous of acts?

ROB:  I think at the end of the day it’s a love story, as tragic as it all is.  It’s done out of love, but unfortunately he is going insane.  Ben is able to kind of keep everything under wraps and keep his cool. But in his private moments and when he is alone, that is when he can kind of revel in what has happened.  He can then take deep breathes, and try to regain his composure, and to keep his game face on for the public.

When Ben threw the evidence out in the deep waters of Salem in a trash bag, does he believe at this point, he is home scot-free of his crimes?

Courtesy/NBC

ROB:  I think he thinks he covered it.  I got to tell you, I was so mad.  I did watch the episode.  I remember when we taped that scene.  We did it one take.  I remember when I tied it up and I threw it, I felt that there was air in the bag.  I wanted to do it again and pop a hole in it, because I know these fans don’t miss a beat, and I think that’s great.  I so respect them for that.  But it was so funny, because there was air in the bag when I threw it.  I remember tying it up and asking to do it again, but we couldn’t do it again, because that is how we roll! (Laughs)

Before he disposed of the evidence, Ben’s dad Clyde (James Read) came to see him. At that point, Ben handed the keys back to the house Clyde got for him and Abigail, because he was going to leave town, and wouldn’t be needing them.  But once Clyde revealed that Chad is a wanted man for the murders, Ben did an about face!

Courtesy/NBC

ROB:  It was a quick turn of events, right?  Dad comes in and tells him there is an APB on Chad DiMera, and Ben was going to leave town.  So now at this point, Ben does feel like he has some closure on it, and so he can stick around Salem.  He is going to make Abigail happy, because she didn’t want to leave town to begin with.

This has to be such an internal struggle for the character of Ben.  Deep down he knows the girl he loves is clearly in love with another man … Chad.   No matter what she says, Ben knows she is for the most part constantly lying to him, and does not have the same feelings for him, she does for Chad.  That has to hurt deeply.

ROB:  Ben is constantly stuffing that fact deeper and deeper.  And when somebody does that there is bound to be an explosion.  That’s pretty much where he is at.   He’s been pushing that down and pushing that down.   But he’s a little psycho!   He’s never had a real relationship and he’s never been in love.  Ben has never had a family; he was always on the run.   He has been a loner, and been alone for a long time.  Ben does not know how to handle the whole situation with Abigail and Chad, and if that is taken away from him, or possibly taken away from him, he is going to wipe people out! (Laughs)   It’s the only way …  for him.

When Ben was going to kill Marlena, was he doing that just to set up Chad?  After all, it’s Marlena!  You can never really kill Marlena! (Laughs)

Courtesy/Pinterest

ROB:  Everything Ben does is to set up Chad.  He doesn’t want to hurt anybody.  It’s just the casualties of war.  He didn’t want to kill Serena.  He didn’t want to kill Paige, and he didn’t want to try to kill Marlena (Deidre Hall).  Unfortunately, in order for him to get his plan in gear … looking it across the board, these people are chess pieces that have to go down!  It’s tragic.

What do you think would happen if Clyde finds out Ben has been murdering people?  Do you think he would help his son?

ROB:  I think Clyde knows that Ben has inherited a lot of bad stuff from him.  But I think Clyde was taken off-guard.  The first time he ever saw that side of Ben was in the reveal episode where Ben used the words, “kill him”, and there was a turning point where it showed Clyde looking at Ben for the first time in a different light.  Clyde always thought of him as an innocent young kid, and he just wanted to maintain a relationship with his son.  Clyde is a badass, but I think he now realizes there is something ticking inside of Ben.  He noticed there is a lot more to Ben, perhaps then he thought.

Did you tell anyone in your family that you would be playing a serial killer on TV?

ROB:   I did not tell anyone, except my mom.  It has been so gratifying and emotional, and to have the opportunity to do material I have never done in the soap genre.

It must be so nice for you to not have to play for once … the hunky good-guy?

Courtesy/Twitter

ROB:  Oh, yeah.  I am trying very hard to burying that, but at the end of the day I have to pay my bills.   I have to take it as it comes.  I am not ashamed of anything, or any project I ever worked on.  However, I am just trying to grow my brand, career, and craft.  This was a great opportunity to help me be able to do that.  I am so very grateful to Albert Alaar, our executive producer, and I love what the writers have done.  It’s not your grandmother’s Days of our Lives anymore.  They realized things needed to change, and the boat has sailed, and they are taking initiative.

This storyline that features you, Billy Flynn, and Kate Mansi has become so compelling, and interesting with the change in head writers and with the killer twist.  DAYS is now playing that Abigail and Chad are the star-crossed lovers, and Ben is the interloper.  How has it been working with Billy and Kate through this?

ROB:  I am glad everyone has taken a liking to the story.  I enjoy working with each of them.  And whether they have been in the industry or brand new to it, I will learn something from everybody.  I know Billy Flynn didn’t have much experience coming into Days of our Lives, but I think he is doing a great job.  I love Billy, and I love talking to him.

Would you say Ben’s reign of terror will continue, and the body count will rise?

Courtesy/NBC

ROB:  Yeah!  The body count will rise, I would say so.  Everything is rooted in love as psychotic as that sounds. Ben thinks he is doing the right thing.  He doesn’t even know what he is doing.  These are blackouts.  He thinks this is all Chad DiMera’s fault.  So it doesn’t matter if one person dies or fifty!  In his mind, all these people are dying because of Chad.  That’s a twisted, twisted layer to a person.  Once you tap into that part of your psyche, it worked for me as an actor.  It is truly a great experience to go through as an actor, and weird at the same time.

So to clarify … is Ben aware that he is committing murder?

ROB:  I think he does it, but he is upset that it happened.  There is something that will happen in the near future that shakes Ben to the core.  That’s the full change for him. When that happens, then he will be aware of everything that is happening in real time, rather than playing this game where he is thinking he is doing something right, when it’s not.  There are two different Ben’s. There is Ben the guy that everybody knows who is the bartender and the nice guy who is with Abigail, and then there is “Benjamin” who is that second personality, and so that his old life, new life, and his alter ego.  I feel like Benjamin blacks out and wipes people out, and does crazy stuff. (Laughs)  Then there is Ben, who is the nice guy who takes the hand of the little princess of Salem.  Right now, I have so much love for Ben Weston.   That’s why I am so happy the producers entrusted me with this part, and being able to show the differences, which will air around November.  When I first read all of this I was like, “They either want to see me fail … or they trust me.”  They told me they completely trust me, and I am so grateful for that. We have all grown a lot as a team on this show, which has been great.

When you were informed that Ben was going to turn out to be necktie serial killer? How did that conversation go down?

Courtesy/NBC

ROB:  Albert called me up and sat me down, and Josh Griffith chatted with me, too. The first thing I thought was, “This is terrific!”  Then the second thing I thought was “Wow. This could be my exit.  I don’t know.”   Me as Rob, knowing if something like this was happening in my own real love life (like Abigail and Chad sleeping together), I would be snapping everywhere!  So, when the change finally happened, I was like, “Thank God! Let me play this guy honestly, and stop treating him like a child.”  I realized I am going to take the ball and run with it.

And there’s even another wrinkle to the story! Abigail is pregnant, and the audience thinks Chad is the baby daddy.

ROB:  Yes, and that is another layer to this story.  Ben knows there is a chance that the baby could be Chad’s, because of what Clyde did.  Clyde switched the DNA in the office and he had his guy go in there, and assure that the results would read that it was Ben’s baby.  The audience, nor Ben, (although Ben has an inkling that it could be Chad’s because they had the affair) knows for sure who the father is.  That whole situation is trouble!

Courtesy/TwitterRWilson

It has been reported you have also been doing some film projects.  You have become quite the in demand young man, Rob Wilson!

ROB:  I finished a film with Nadia Bjorlin (Chloe, DAYS) called “I Know Where Lizzie is” which I believe will air on Lifetime.  In addition, I am working on another film which features a great cast including: Daryl Hannah, Eric Roberts, and Mischa Barton.  The working title was called “Father”, but I think they are now calling it “Papa”.  Oddly enough, I play the role of Ben in that one as well!  This will be a motion picture that will be released in the theatres.  So a lot is going on, and there is so much more to see of what happens with Ben on DAYS, too!

What did you think about “Killer Ben”?  Are you enjoying Rob Scott Wilson’s performance in the storyline?  Who do you think will end up on the murdered list via the Necktie Killer when all is said and done?  Share your thoughts below! But first, watch a little video ditty from DAYS that appeared on the series facebook page shortly after the reveal aired featuring Rob!

Can you believe it was Ben?!

Rob Scott Wilson has definitely grown as an actor. The man is beautiful and when he first entered the scene on DAYS that was all I could see. But as he grew in his love story with Abbi things changed. He really started to blossom. Now with the murder story line I can’t help but find Rob utterly believable. I don’t quite buy that jealousy is the only motivating factor but I buy the intensity he is portraying. His scene today with him remembering the actual murders was chilling only because of how he portrayed those memories. I didn’t believe it was Ben at first but after today I am convinced that is the direction the writers have taken. I don’t like knowing that he will probably exit the show but I have to say that Robert Scott Wilson is going to do very well in Hollywood. Kudos Mr. Wilson for your growth and skills.

I think he has really grown as an actor. I’m enjoying the murder mystery very much Days is in fire!

I’m guessing the Necktie Killer’s next victim will be Will Horton!
I’m wondering how the showdown between Will and Ben will play out?
Will investigates the Necktie Killer and finds out (somehow) that Ben is the killer. Ben learns this and goes after Will. Will will have this big showdown with Ben (for his life), but Ben will strangle him to death with a necktie!

I think Will’s death will be like Frankie Frame’s death on AW in 1996?!

A lot of people are thinking Will Horton will be killed off. I think it will be Sonny that ends up dead! I think Sonny will show up in Salem unexpectedly. I also think there will be a confrontation between Sonny and Ben over Chad.

During Ben’s time in Salem, Sonny often had to come between Chad and Ben (not necessarily physically) while Ben worked at TBD. Sonny also fired Ben because of Ben’s bad behavior over Chad (if I remember that correctly). So with this obsession of Ben about Chad, I can see Sonny taking Ben to task over it. Sonny also knows how Chad really feels about Abigail. So there is no telling what will go down in any possible confrontation betweem Ben and Sonny.

When you take into consideration that Freddie Smith voluntarily left the show and Guy Wilson denying that he is leaving Salem, there is the possibility that Sonny is the victim, not Will.

I have read that Guy Wilson was let go from Days. But I don’t think that report has been confirmed. If it has, I stand to be corrected. But if anyone knows for sure that Guy Wilson has been let go, please say so. Otherwise I think there is a strong possibility that the victim who is from one of the main Salem families is going to be Sonny!

Won’t that give Wally Kurth some real good scenes? Can’t you see Eve and Justin grieving together?!?!?! Wow! It may also send Adrienne back to Lucas!

If I am wrong about Sonny being killed, I’m okay with that. But the possibility is too interesting not to consider it.

In “our” perfect worlds :

in my heart of heart(s)

I’d wish this for everything… I can

“…Won’t that give Wally Kurth some real good scenes? Can’t you see Eve and Justin grieving together?!?!?! Wow! ”

I would rather it not be either or (Sonny or Will)

Kassie DePaiva has been slaying me… upped the echelon factor and zoomed in on HER ACT

she’s meeting her mark and slaying with A. Martinez!

DAYS PRODUCTION!!!!

Kassie Depaiva’ Eve : WITH : Eduardo, Justin, Rafe, Aiden… just a hunkload of testosterone… to parlay… my new dream Queen

the intelligence factor and intrigue galore just explodes

Your scenario makes so much sense to me. Maybe it makes too much sense.

I enjoyed Kassie DePavia regardless of who her scene partner was. For her portrayal of a grieving Eve I think she will win a Daytime Emmy if nominated. I am convinced she might be a 90% “shoe in”.

I’m thinking the next victim will be Daniel.

I can’t wait to see what he does with this. I was impressed with Rob during the short run of online AMC. I think he has a lot to offer and this story will give him a chance to show it. Good for him.

I’m sorry but, I have not liked him since day one! The first Ben was much better! I don’t think he has strong acting skills at all. He shows no emotion. Just a drab dead pan face. I’m glad that he’s the killer because that means he will leave the show! The only better thing was if he was killed…then he could never come back!!! I just can not stand watching him! Sorry! Just sayin’!

HMMM..in front of RockHudson..well alrighty then…but to get to the point it was no surprise..and kind of an easy go to..that being said I hope the new writers realize the pot of gold they have..BillFlynn is the perfect EJ replacement..JenLilli is the perfect Sami replacement and both are tied to the canvas..these two characters together would lift ratings twice as much..Theresa in the Dimera mansion and Abigail pregnant with Chad’s baby and the supposed father a serial killer exposed..Theresa blanking and threatening Nicole at every turn over using Dimera money to take Basic Black from her for her own..Theresa at odds with STEPHANO AND VICTOR..Brady jealous..Kate being her slick self to get on Theresa’s good side to blindside Basic Black out of her control..Chad raising Brady’s baby..and all through it a hot steamy romance of Theresa and Chad..COME ON TPTB…it would make up for all the senseless murders and cast cuts and they are GOLDEN…

And while you’re at it have Marlena open a clinic in the impoverished part of Salem..we know there is one..every town has one..Julie as the receptionist..Maggie as a counselor for AA..Victor won’t like that..Jennifer as a HR consultant..Hope making certain clinic patients nervous when she visits during a clinic storyline..not a heavy addition to the canvas but one that explores issues with these strong ladies at the fore dealing with a patient storyline at least twice a year..A gala once a year for fundraising and light moments..have Abe and Roman and Rafe spotlight big brothers of the Salem PD and bring in a troubled teen here and there…JMO

That’s Dean Martin.

Yup, davlestev, Theresa is ‘sugar and spice and everything nice’, alright!!!! I have been asking for a Theresa/Chad hot romance forever. I still say Abby is as bland as polenta. Have you ever tasted that tasteless glob? LOL.
I want Brady to have a wake up call and start acting his 40+ age, and come down his high horse,…..smash that over-the-top ego to bits. She’s too young for him, anyway.
OOOOOOO!!!!! You and I have a vision, Davlestev….can you see them? Chad and Theresa….the next DiMera coming! YES!!

thank you michael………………awesome interview & very enlightening!

Ben, the fans need to guess no more…we are getting the story we are hoping for…you have to make another kill…hopefully, your next victim will be bland Will…and it will give us a chance…to do a happy dance…but we will still have to wait and see…if you are really indeed…and its not a lie…you are the killer with the neckties…lol

Good one, Jimh! Ben is definitely a dirty rat! That much we do know. BTW, I’m wondering how many people know what we have referenced regarding “Ben” the song and the movie?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Michael Jackson was the original singer of “Ben” which was then used as the theme song for the movie “Ben” which was part 2 of the original “Willard.”

“Willard” was the loner who befriended a couple rats and bred and taught them how to attack. One of the rats was named Ben.

In “Ben,” the focus was on a little boy who was sick and he had a friend in Ben…the rat from the first movie.

There has been a remake of “Willard” which used the song “Ben.”

yep, you are correct!

I liked Robert on the re-boot of AMC, and I will admit, I was less than impressed with Ben as a character, but I didn’t blame Robert for that.

However, the new writers have breathed life into Ben by making him a cold blooded killer and I’m glad to see Robert “take the ball and run with it” and keep the story a secret, heightening the suspense for the fans as well as his fellow cast members, rather than sit back and whine that he was thrown under a bus and destroy the suspense for loyal fans.

Robert is right – this is (well, was) an amazing opportunity for him as an actor! I wish him continued success in his career!!

I’m only surprised Ben is the killer because he was the obvious choice!

I still didn’t want to believe it was him during the “dream” sequences because I thought Ben being the killer was an easy way out.

I’m dissapointed the killer is Ben, but I’m still thoroughly entertained.

what if he isnt and it really is Chad…nice twist but its Ben

Sounds like he’s pretty busy. He’s doing a good job on the show. Although, I don’t like all the killing–especially Paige. And Abby should have kicked Ben to the curb after he went off on her about Chad.

If Ben is truly the killer then what’s the point in watching? I have zero interest in watching Ben go around killing a bunch of people while the Salem Police fumble around trying to figure it out. If there is any fun in the serial killer story line on a soap it is trying to solve the mystery along with the cops, looking for clues and enjoying the twists. Otherwise it is just depressing story of people dying, which I will FF over to hopefully enjoy other stories on the show– really disappointed beyond words— my only hope is despite what they are telling this actor there is something else going on– I’ve watch soaps for a long time and they never just casually reveal the “killer” so early in the story, out of sweeps—-so it still seems fishy to me, but I will play along, Ben’s the killer, ho hum—sigh.

Haha right?! So if Ben is the killer can anyone actually tell me the motive????
“So I have this girlfriend that doesn’t respect marriage vows, and I was warned about this prior to even dating her. But I dated her anyway, even though she cheats with married men. Then she is unfaithful to me. And instead of confronting her, or you know, having self respect, I keep it to myself and continue dating her. Then she is pregnant and I’m just trusting that the baby is mine, cause I TOTALLY believe she would be honest with me about a baby, that is different from being dishonest about everything else. But this guy keeps hanging around her so instead of like breaking up with the bitch and getting custody of my kid, I know what I’ll do. I’ll kill some totally random people that I or this guy barely know and frame him. Cause the solution to having and unfaithful finance is totally murdering random people.” WTF???????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???????????????!!!!!!!!!!!

Roooose! You go Girl!!!! Hilarious…I love it!!!!!

How about the plain and simple truth; Ben is a living breathing psychopath.

I think the point in watching is there is more to this story than meets the eye. You have to factor in Andre DiMera. He MUST be tied to this murder plot in some way. Andre also has an interest in “getting Chad DiMera”. My guess is that it has something to do with being Stefano’s heir apparent “head of the DiMera family”. Chad doesn’t want to be evil… Andres…is rotten to the core!

In addition to seeing who else will be killed, true, a depressing and/or scary thought because of the excellent performance of Rob Scott Wilson, we must wait for the true climax of the story, which will be the clearing of Chad because Ben is caught and the tie in to Andre DiMera.

My two big questions will be what will they do to Ben and how will Abigail react when she finds out the murders in Salem are directly tied to her one night stand with Chad DiMera. Will Abigail survive that revelation or will it drive her insane?

Another question is who fathered Abigail’s baby and will the baby survive. I do not see a future for Chad and Abigail because of Stefano. If that baby is Chad’s it will be “Sami and EJ” all over again regarding the baby. Not at all looking forward to that.

I’m sorry, but when you go to a restaurant and there is an item on the menu that makes it sounds like you are going to get a prime rib steak and then they bring you a hamburger, no matter how good the hamburger it will never taste as good as the steak you were expecting.

All the hype on this story promised me a good old fashioned murder mystery and the point of a murder mystery is not to know who the killer is until the very end. That is what I was expecting, that is what I was looking forward– so I don’t care how well they tell this tale now, as a murder mystery it has been ruin for me. If Ben had been revealed as the killer at the end the story, and insane like Norman Bates was revealed to be the crazed killer in Psycho that would of been great.

But for me this is no longer a murder mystery, but a thriller, which is a different type of tale. So as a murder mystery there is no point in watching if you know who the killer is, as a thriller, the tale goes on, but right now, after seeing the hamburger on my plate, it is hard to get excited about it, when I was really looking forward to that steak.

To each his own, Mary SF. I respect your point of view!

Oh, please, Gmbebet, let the revelation drive Abby absolutely loco-crazy…YES!! LOL.

What I would like is for Andre to discover the truth. Then we could all sit back watching Andre go postal all over Ben for framing Chad and Clyde for killing EJ. Neither Ben nor Clyde would stand a ghost of a chance against a determined vengeful Andre.

Yes, it does seem fishy. I guess he could be just, as Kelly said, a psychopath. That is the motive…..he’s a sick puppy, Mary SF, LOL. I did mention when the murders started that it was Ben. But, I only said it in jest. I really did not believe it. I was convinced it was Clyde. I also mentioned that Ben killed his own mother and Clyde knew about it. It could have happened? No?

Actually, doing the reveal this way is kind of clever. Even though you see the scenes through Ben’s eyes, the killer still has the mask on which leaves me wondering if there is still a twist to come.

I’m loving the show now. The new writers have really bumped the show up.

What an class act! I did never care for Ben upon til now. This was the wisest and most clever decision to go with the character. It will also give RSW a great chance and opportunity to show his range as an actor. He seemed little unsure of the material first but decided to roll with it and go all the way. Brave, you will shine in these scenes im sure!

Good luck with your upcmoing movies Rob! 🙂

As for the ppl NOT getting this, Im sure it will be revealed more into Ben´s background. You forget that he grew up watching Clyde abuse his mother. And him and Jordan prob saw alot of stuff. That left scars for life. It´s kind of tragic in the sense that Ben. Is finally getting a real chance at love happines and family. But the woman he loves, is in love with someone else.

Yes but not all those who witness their mothers being abused by fathers become murderous psychopaths.

the acting, the mood, the dark film noir vintage feel, ben looking like he s holding back his anger towards abbys obvious defence of chad, abigail always choking back tears everytime she calms ben down, chad on the run, the foggy docks, the hideout, the creepy music!!!!!
… this storyline and triangle has me hooked! days had to be the most improved soap and definitly the most entertaining!
loving it big time!!!!!!

I get all “choked” up when viewers are happy with DAYS, damien!

I am loving Days, 4ever….as I am loving you!….. DOOL is the soap to watch, right now. Later.

I gave my reaction to Rob’s performance on another article on this website. I will not repeat it here except to say I think he is a good candidate for a Daytime Emmy in 2016!

I also think that Kassie DePaiva is a good candidate of a Daytime Emmy in 2016. I also think she will win! I hope Rob wins too!

I agree.
Robert is doing a great job and Kassie(Eve) had me in tears with her guilt ridden grief..after Paiges death.

Rob has done really well with this storyline. I was even impressed before he was revealed as the killer. I can’t wait to see what he does next.

Rob Wilson is awesome and I am so happy that they gave him this storyline. Remember that Matt Bomer played a killer on (Ben as well) GL. Now look where Matt Bomer is!

Well, I will say the stories and the pacing are much improved.

Billy Flynn, to me, is who is driving the serial killer story. Good for Rob Scott Wilson
that he is being allowed to stretch his wings, but THIS story has nowhere the
intrigue The LOVING serial killer story had when the show was facing
cancellation.

I know Billy Flynn didn’t have much experience coming into Days of our Lives, but I think he is doing a great job.

———–

What difference does it make? Billy is 50x the actor Robert is. That’s one of the reasons so many people were taken aback by the serial killer revelation. They would have preferred a better actor. I’ve mostly been disappointed in the storyline.

I can’t wait until Ben is gone.

I am enjoying Ben on Days but he is going to killed my best acter sammys son Will
well so long i did enjoy him so much keep up the good work ben with your fine azz

Robert Scott Wilson is doing a really good job playing an evil character.Really scaring me through the tv screen.Ben was a little boring as Mr.Nice Guy.With the dark hair and good looks of Robert W. he should have been cast has an evil Dimera..he plays evil so well.Kudos to him and Billy F.I am just loving this new Chad.

Robert Scott Wilson is great as Ben, but the decision that tptb killed off Will has caused me to quit watching dool. Didn’t care to much for the actor playing Will but get a new actor instead of killing the character. They could have killed off Lucas or Nicole, either would be fine.

I THOUGHT CLYDE WESTON (JAMES READ) WAS THE NECKTIE KILLER! I WAS WRONG! IT WAS BEN (ROBERT SCOTT WILSON)! ROBERT IS A TALENTED ACTOR THOUGH!

Days Of Our Lives

Stephen Schnetzer Talks On His Return to Days of our Lives and Working with Susan Seaforth Hayes In Emotional Episodes

Who says you can’t go home again? In the case of Another World favorite, Stephen Schnetzer (ex-Cass Winthrop), he has proven that it is true, and you can go back to your soap roots and where it all started for you.

Last week on April 11th, Schnetzer, along with several other key returns were on set at Days of our Lives taping all-new episodes of the Peacock streaming soap opera, centering on the funeral of Doug Williams (the late Bill Hayes), and as part of the iconic soap opera’s 15,000th episode.

Stephen is reprising his first daytime role as Steve Olson, the brother of Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes). The last time Schnetzer appeared on a DAYS set was during his one and only run on the show from 1978 to 1980. Clearly, viewers will be in for some very emotional scenes when Steve returns to Salem to be there for his sister, Julie in her time of need. In real-life, Susan has been going through her own grief, having just lost Bill back on January 12th at the age of 98.

Michael Fairman TV caught up with Stephen during the 15K episode celebration ceremony, and during a break from taping the gut-wrenching funeral scenes, to get his thoughts on being part of these highly-anticipated moments that will air later this year in December. Here’s what he shared with us below.

What has this been like for you to work with Susan Seaforth Hayes after all of these years?

STEPHEN: She’s a dream and she’s so bright. We ran lines yesterday and we ended up just visiting for about 45 minutes and just catching up and telling tales about each other’s career. She even dropped off the autobiography that she and Bill did. And being back here at DAYS, every time I turn a corner, there’s another familiar face. When I was on the show 40 more years ago, a bunch of the guys, played softball on a team together. This is really a trip down memory lane as I knew it would be.

Photo: JPI

Taping Doug’s funeral must be a hard day for Susan. Are you checking in with her to help hold her up through this?

STEPHEN: I am and I’m checking in with Amy Shaughnessy (Susan’s assistant), and she’s holding her up more than anybody. We’re there for each other.

There will obviously be some major hankie-inducing moments when Steve comes back to Salem to console his sister.

STEPHEN: Oh, wait till you see it in December. It’s going to be great.

Were you surprised you got this call to come back to the show decades later?

STEPHEN: It was out of the blue! I was completely surprised. They should have called me decades ago! That’s what surprised me. When Another World went down, I thought I’d land somewhere else and it never happened. That was more of a surprise.

Photo: JPI

Cass is such an identifiable character for you. As well, you and Linda Dano (ex-Felicia Gallant) are so synonymous together as best friends Cass and Felicia from Another World. When fans heard you were reprising your role as Steve Olson on DAYS, they are now hoping there will be more of you on the show to come.

STEPHEN: Steven Olson is a real “Cassian “character. I cut my teeth on Steve Olson and that’s how Cass was introduced. He was kind of a roguish charmer. And then when the character stuck for Another World, they rehabilitated me, and turned me into one of the shows heroes. And that’s what would’ve happened if I stayed as Steve Olson probably. So, Steve is the ‘pre-Cass’, Cass.

Photo: JPI

As the story goes, you originally decided to leave Days of our Lives?

STEPHEN: I was never on contract. I was doing a day and a half a week and I got a Broadway play directed by Franco Zeffirelli starring Joan Plowright and Frank Finlay. I was able to it as I didn’t have to break a contract or anything. I cut loose and went back to New York for that.

How well did you get to know Bill Hayes during your first time around on DAYS?

STEPHEN: My first episode was with Bill and Susan, as her long lost brother coming into Salem. They were so good to me. They were so kind. I had been doing eight years of classical repertory theater, never been in front of a camera. I tell everybody, it took me longer than any other actor I’ve ever seen to get comfortable in front of a camera. And they were very supportive at that time in my career. Coming back to honor Bill now in 2024, and to be see Susan, I am just so happy to be here.

Looking forward to seeing the scenes between Stephen and Susan Seaforth Hayes come December and Doug’s funeral and surrounding episodes? Do you hope that DAYS might bring the character of Steve Olson back for a longer stay? Comment below.
