Talk about your bad timing!  The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences revealed news on their upcoming 39th Daytime Emmy Awards presentation slated for June 23rd at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.    While we are still awaiting word on what type of ceremonies will actually occur,  a decision has been made this year to present two mainstay awards  of the Daytime Emmy acting categories, the Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series and Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series, have been bumped to the Creative Arts Ceremonies to be handed out on June 17th, instead of the bigger and more prestigious Daytime Emmy Awards themselves!

And in a year when one of the most hotly contested categories occurs in the Younger Actor category, nominees such as Eddie Alderson of One Life to Live, who has a shot at winning in One Life’s final year with his episode where Matthew reveals he shot and killed Eddie Ford to Nora and Bo,  Chandler Massey of Days of our Lives, who has done stellar work in Will’s coming out storyline, Chad Duell, who was so heartbreaking as Michael admits he was raped on General Hospital, and GH’s Nathan Parsons, so wonderfully introspective in his Emmy reel as Ethan, will not have their name called in front at the Beverly Hills main event.    Same goes for the gals, with Y&R’s Christel Khalil, B&B’s Jacqueline MacInnes Wood and DAYS, Shelley Hennig and Molly Burnett!

Here is the current list of categories slated for presentation at the 39th Daytime Emmys though:  Drama Series, Lead Actress, Lead Actor, Supporting Actress, Supporting Actor, Writing Team and Directing Team.Outstanding New Approaches in Daytime Entertainment,  along with the best in talk show, legal/courtroom show, culinary and game show (and hosts), morning program, children’s performer and children’s animated program for the series and the hosts.

So what do you think about NATAS shifting the Younger Actor and Actress categories to the Creative Arts Emmys? Weigh-in! And then,  let us know who you want to win the gold in the two Younger categories!

Hate it, there killing the genre slowly but surely. I cant’ stand what has happened to such a wonderful group of actors, to be treated so badly. So many actors made their start on Soaps. We knew them before they became so famous. They all deserve an Emmy.

I am so disappointed and it’s NOT fair to the young actors. The Emmys have made the show nothing but commercialism and I for one won’t watch them… All the young actors deserve their time in the sun too. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr…….

That’s f@cked up. ’nuff said.

THAT is TERRIBLE! They should not be separated from the rest of the acting categories. What a slap in the face. I am so mad right now!!!!

It’s deplorable.

Its a time saving maneuver. Chad and Molly.

Could be, If it’s not televised why would they care. The one thing I know I want to see the young stars get their awards the last award I care to see is who won the best talk show, Now that’s a waste of precious time. If we loose all the soaps, I don’t think that any one will care who wins the emmy in talk, news, food, or any of that garbage they are replacing the soaps with.

I Love Chad on GH. Want to see him win that category should definitely be included !!!

WOW, Even the emmys are getting cheaper, what the hell is wrong with these people , Oh I get it they have more respect for those everyday news, talk, food, celebrities we don’t care about, clothes we can’t afford shows, lets put the younger kids on the back burner. You know once the daytime soaps are gone, no one is going to give a crap about the daytime emmys, I care about the soaps I want to see them could care less about ellen, oprar, katie, kelly and ?, wende, God our afternoons are loaded with trash I think it’s a disgrace.

Barb: I just wrote you a letter and sent it. I just ran across “this” post of your’s, because I wasn’t on the site to read, but JUST to post you. ‘ This post ‘ was 2 places above the post of yours I replied to. I just wanted to comment that your punctuation is close to excellente. LOL ALL your coma’s are in place. U only have one bo-bo (after the word people-your coma should be closer to the ‘e’ ). All the others are perfect, and I love it. Thank You!

PS. Sometime in March, someone listed a site on Youtube that you could go and watch General Hospital. I clicked on the link, and boy did it have ENTIRE episodes of GH on Youtube weeks back. Do you know that link or site, so that I can catch up to on GH for the weeks I didn’t see even though my living room and walls did?
Thanks.

Well about a year ago or maybe more Peter Bergman & Christian Le Blanc both thought their should not be a seperate category for them they should all be lumped together and I was one of the few that threw a fit about their comments. In other words no younger categories I said then that we sure feel threatened don’t we, politics in everything.

Your right Kay Killgore.

Hi Barbara, what’s up? How are you? Overwhelmed here. Been watchin GH over the last four days, AND b’oy……. has GH gotten GOOD!!!! It opens up to like 7 different segements before the music plays/ oppose to 3 or 4 segments, as before. So many,,,,, that you can’t wait for the show to start AND for each one to play. Other than that, I don’t come on this site much anymore. I am not one to can keep talking about the ‘same ol thing ‘ which is ” OLTL ” being off the air, and GH verses OLTL. Blah. I had begun to feel like a tired soap fan who does nothing but sit home and watch soaps. No, I am a thriving person with a career, and IF we aint going to do something about OLTL ‘ make some noise ‘ EVEN hold a news conference/ gathering like the 99 percent, (something) I certainly wasn’t going to keep gossiping about it, debating on this site with strangers about it/ wasting my time/ and making this site richer, NAH…. I just couldn’t. Got to move on or stay stunk in the same place. I like to talk about social issures, change, politic’s of situations, BUT the conversation MUST change and move forward at some point. With that said, I’m going to rest now…. Just wanted to reach out to you. Hope you are still holding down the fort on the site, however. Hope all is well with you and the family.

Chow,
1love (ABC) soaps

This is a shame. Not sure why such a decision is necessary. Are the awards even being televised? I hope at least they invite the younger nominees and give winners some attention that big night.

Oh dear is all I can say……………..

I always felt that award shows including the Emmys (daytime & primetime), the Tonys and the Oscars, that their main acting categories were Lead and Supporting.

The Primetime Emmys have 4 acting categories in their Creative Arts Ceremony:
– Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series
– Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series
– Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series
– Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series

Part of me feels if National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences had the chance, they would get rid of the Younger Actor/Actress categories and have the younger actors/actresses compete in the Supporting categories.

I WANTED TO SEE EDDIE, AND YES OUR AFTERNOON IS FULL FOOLISH ARROGANT JERK ‘S TALKING BS

I can’t stand it, how can they award Emmys to talk show crap artists, all they do is repeat what I heard on a show 2 hours ago. And, oh, how they love to talk about themselves….hey, I don’t care what you did or who you saw over the weekend, puts me to sleep. Sleeping most of the day isn’t good for me. The soaps are the only shows worth giving Emmys to…..that’s where the real talent is and we need MORE of them.

It’s unbelievable and wrong. These young actors are worthy of being part of the larger ceremony. Why treat them like outcasts? I feel like this is just another way for soaps to get screwed. Shame on the Daytime Emmys for doing this.

I am really disappointed. I am rooting for Chandler to win, and it’s a shame that it won’t be a part of the ‘regular’ show. If the ceremony is televised, I hope that they will at least show video clips of the winners acceptance speeches, then again, why move the categories at all. It just seems that the NATAS has given up on Daytime, just like some of the network exec’s have, to a certain extent.

Daytime award shows never got the same respect as the Country, Music, Tony’s, Dog, Cat, Kentucky Durby, kid , Reality, etc stupid shows. Doesn’t matter that the daytime actors are better trained and many of the famous people got their start in the business. They are always treated like dirt. Makes me so mad daytime soaps are neglected this way. It’s funny though they keep the children shows , judge shows, talk shows still in the award show but get rid of the younger “daytime” actors when they arep the ones who should be front an center. What is wrong with this picture? I can rant an rave but it won’t change the narrow minded executives. Maybe their next suggestion will be to run a ticket tape across the screen on the tv with the winners like they put the weather alerts.

This is so wrong. The younger category deserves their time to shine. What the Emmys can move is their talk shows, cooking shows, children’s shows, etc. Practically all of ABC’s daytime lineup. And there needs to be tributes to OLTL and AMC.

These younger actors are as deserving as their more “seasoned” counterparts at receiving recognition for their outstanding work at the MAIN Emmy event when the other actors receive their awards. It just doesn’t make sense to include acting awards in the Creative ceremony, which groups together a completely different set of achievements. This is a terrible, terrible decision.

HORRIBLY UNFAIR and disrespectful.

I thought the networks were interested in attracting and keeping the younger Demo? Guess not.

I am betting this year’s DT Emmy’s won’t even be televised.

Maybe they should move the New Approaches in Daytime awards to the Creative Arts Emmys instead.

I think it stinks! They take animated series over live entertainers no matter what the age. Let me tell them one thing night time entertainment is not more important than our soaps are in the daytime. In face I watch more soaps than nite time TV. Who are these people who think they know what we the viewers want to see? They are wrong & that is why so many watch shows on the computer. Idiots are putting on the shows on TV.

That sucks.

DAYS, DOOL! Their First Year to red carpet with 15 Nods. Two, highly anticipated wins, are in this category. Chandler Massey and Molly Burnett. Will and Melanie. Sorry OLTL, & AMC fans… DAYS has never had this many Nods… and these two should win. I read in the soap digest, that Burnett may not be renewing her contract… i’m sorry to hear this. She’s so good as Dr. Carly Manning’s daughter… and i enjoy her scenes, if we ever get them again… with Maggie. with all due respect to the other nominations for best younger actor… their emmy reels were like one time revelations revealed… whereas…. Will… is still “coming” out to Salem… just recently with kudo scenes with his mom and dad… Sammi and Lucas. My hope is for Chandler Massey… as this story needs to be told… for the general public. it’s effectively heartfelt Soap.

Not smart! They do this with Grammys and Oscars and by doing so depriving the nominees and winners their time in the spotlight. I would like to see Chad Duell win for his memorable performance all year on GH. Jacqueline MacInnes Wood also deserves to win for her portrayal of Steffy – she has good comedic talent and her heartwrenching performance dealing with her marriage break-up has been award worthy.

The only real reason to watch the Daytime Emmys this year (assuming that they will actually be televised at all) is the younger actor category. Figuring out which stellar performance the amazing Chandler Massey or the equally hot Chad Duell, is the only real interesting award category this year. Who’s in charge of this bonehead decision? I just bet Brian Frons/Disney/Ann Sweeney/the dreadful ABC is somehow responsible. This is a great year for folks that hate soap operas.

Totally sucks! They are just as important as any other kind of actor..more so as they have to do their show 5 days a week with not much money. They can’t do ‘retakes’ like other stars.
The ones in charge of this have no brains or compassion for these young actors, they should be ashamed of themselves!

This is just terrible! I am begining to feel as if there is a conspiracy to kill the genre on all fronts! Did the assholes over at abc get the ball rolling? The nominees in this catagory all gave stellar preformances this year and to not have the honor of getting the award at the same event as their costars is an outrage! It’s not bad enough the way oltl was snubbed and the possibility that the show won’t even be aired. I am really disgusted! This is getting personal.

Days of our Lives Star, Greg Vaughan, Gives Health Update and Thanks Everyone for Their Support

Greg Vaughan (Eric, Days of our Lives, ex-Lucky, GH, and ex-Diego, Y&R) provided an update on his health on Sunday, March 17th. Vaughan had previously shared that he had become ill during a trip with his sons to Colorado, and had developed altitude sickness when he was having trouble breathing accompanied by terrible headaches and landed in the urgent care.

Now on St. Patrick’s Day, Greg took to his Instagram and shared how he is feeling now, and to thank everyone for their love and support.  As it turned out, Vaughan was diagnosed with high altitude pulmonary edema, commonly known as HAPE. However, he is on the mend slowly and surely.

In his new video post, the DAYS favorite started by expressing, “I just felt such an appreciation and gratitude for everything. . reaching out. Your prayers have been felt. It’s been a struggle, but I’m over the top. And, taking this moment just to say I didn’t realize the things that I was going through. My (original) post was simply just to educate, put some information out there and some things that I was feeling, just share that information and the struggle that I was going through, which I didn’t quite understand. And it wasn’t because I’m stubborn or just because I’m a father, a man, and didn’t want to go to a doctor. It is just something I thought was so minor that I could overcome it, just by taking care of myself.”

The Daytime Emmy winner then revealed his actual diagnosis, “So, basically my situation was high altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE). With some good friends, doctors that had reached out to me, it kind of gave me some understanding on the aftermath, which was very, very beneficial.”

“But I’ve been resting, taking care of myself even though I live in a hamster wheel,” said the dad of three teenaged boys. “I gotta get up and, you know, do my normal domesticated stuff, eventually. I’m tired of laying down in this bed, but, I am feeling much better.”

Photo: GVaughanIG

Talking on his confusion of trying to understand what could have been ailing him, Vaughan expressed, “I couldn’t quite figure it out, even though I was emphasizing and professing to my children going on our spring break getaway about hydration. I professed it. But, even though I was acting on it, it had a greater effect on me, and for which I did not even think, because my head was such in pain, and I was in a very bad state of mind – not being able to be out there with my kids on the mountain, enjoying their time, as well. I thought I was doing the right thing. Unfortunately, my lungs were full of fluids and my head was in severe pain and even migraine pills didn’t even help. So, I just want anybody that goes into the Colorado Mountains to know, it is no joke. It is this very serious thing which I guess is why they call it the Mile High City.”

Greg had a mountain of ‘thank you’s’ to give for the outreach he received from his original post, “For everybody internationally, wherever you are, I love you and I appreciate you and just the time and the thoughts that you’ve shared with me,” said Vaughan. “I didn’t realize that it would make such an impression on so many people around the world. I feel tremendously loved and I can’t say it enough. I’m good. And I appreciate you.”

Photo: GVaughanIG

The actor concluded his video with, “To all the family and friends that have reached out to me, man, it means the world. So take care of yourself, enjoy your spring break with your families. It’s Saint Patty’s Day, obviously. I wish I could be out there.” Vaughan added, “I feel loved and touched and I can’t emphasize that enough. I’ll take better care of myself, promise you will do the same.” Before he signed off, Greg shared, “Just know, that I’m alive and well and breathing, and I’m sore. So, be well, take care. I mean it. Thank you, tremendously.”

Glad to know that Greg has been on the mend, and shared his appreciation for everyone that reached out to him during this trying time? Comment below.

Days of our Lives Star Greg Vaughan Shares Sudden Health Scare: “I Truly Feel Like I Work & Live in a Soap Opera!”

What started out as an adventure with his sons, quickly turned into a nightmare for Days of our Lives Daytime Emmy winner, Greg Vaughan (Eric Brady).

In a series of Instagram posts, Vaughan shared the sudden health crisis he found himself in.  The images show Greg with an oxygen tank to help him breathe.

The actor began to fill people, sharing, “I’ve said more than a few times, I truly feel like I work & live in a Soap Opera! 🤪 this trip was nothing short of another great Vaughan adventure!”

He went on to say that on a father and son Colorado spring break trip, he began to feel shortness of breath, feeling tired and with a headache and after two days of hoping he would feel better, Vaughan finally went to an Urgent Care to get checked out.

Photo: GVaughanIG

“I finally surrendered & went to urgent care and to my shock I learned that I was experiencing severe altitude sickness.” Vaughan admitted. “My Blood Oxygen was at 54% & my lungs were full of fluids! Blood oxygen, also known as oxygen saturation, represents the percentage of hemoglobin in your red blood cells that is carrying oxygen. Most people have an oxygen level of 95-100%….”

Providing more detail to his health scare, Greg shared, “Well, 4hrs later, a couple of bags of IV & oxygen tank strapped to my face, I was told that I needed to immediately get off the mountain! However I couldn’t, we still had another day to go & wanting the boys to enjoy their last day on the hill tops! I opted to go home with an oxygen tank, a good laugh for everyone, and I know will follow, but my boys looked after their old man & fortunately they had friends on this trip!”

Photo: JPI

The experience of altitude sickness in the Colorado Rockies gave Vaughan a bit of a new perspective, “In all seriousness, no matter your age, and all the times I’ve ⛷️ & 🏂 in my lifetime, Colorado Rockies is no joke! As they say, ‘ take a breathe and smell the roses!’ That is truly something we need to remember & appreciate! #recover”

Share your well-wishes to Greg as he continues to be on the mend via the comment section below.
