Last night’s  Daytime Emmys two-hour telecast averaged 5.6 million viewers and a 1.1 rating/3 share in adults 18-49, according to preliminary data released Monday by Nielsen Media Research. According to the Live Feed section of The Hollywood Reporter, That was up 2.9 million viewers and 83% higher than last year’s 0.6/2 adults 18-49 rating. Last year’s Daytime Emmys aired on Aug. 30, also a Sunday night, but on the lower rated network, The CW.

But it also could be the lowest rated major-network telecast in the adults 18-49 demographic, down 8% from 2008’s 1.2/4 when it was on ABC. This year’s telecast was up, however, 4% in viewers. ABC’s Daytime Emmys telecast aired Friday, June 20, 2008.”

I can’t imagine how that could be possible except that the CW doesn’t have as large an audience. This was the worse Daytime Emmy’s EVER!!! A big Vegas infomercial with a little daytime thrown in to justify the title of the show. No red carpet, rushed and confused presenters, no Emmy reels, no shots of the actors/nominees as their names were called, 30 second acceptance speeches and no memorial. What the heck does The Blue Man Group, David Letterman, The Lion King or Don Rickles have to do with daytime? A total disappointment!!!

Amen!!

I totally agree. That was a terrible show. The people that put that show together should be embarrassed, It was like the awards were a nuisance that they wanted to get through as quickly as possible, so they would have enough time for the “real” entertainment. And that so-called “tribute” to ATWT was an absolute disgrace.

Stop your bitching and be glad you got a daytime emmy show.
