General Hospital
GENERAL HOSPITAL: Chase and ‘Janelle’ Two Sides To Every Story?
On Tuesday’s episode of General Hospital, viewers were given more of the back-story between Chase (Josh Swickard) and Nelle (Chloe Lanier) told through a series of flashback from their disparate recollections.
At the PCPD, over the phone, Chase thanks his former police partner, Abby for sending the files he had on one … Janelle Benson. As he peruses through the files and sees the image of Nelle contained within it, and a postcard from Florida, Chase flashes back to his interrogation room and meeting suspect ‘Janelle’, when he was working as an officer in Maine. Nelle was being questioned in the drowning of her fiance’ Zack.. Chase asks why the upset ‘Janelle’ chose to vacation in Maine instead of Florida. She says it was so Zack could put space between him and his disapproving family. However, ‘Janelle’ does admit going kayaking was her idea.
Next, she cries that she had to make the decision to try to save Zack from drowning, but thought maybe she might die too, so she decided to save herself, and not go in after him, in what was an impossible situation to be in. Abby questions ‘Janelle’ about Zack changing his will right before they headed off for their vacation. ‘Janelle’ lets it firmly be known that it was all Zack’s idea to change his will.
Chase believes ‘Janelle’ is innocent, but Abby thinks Janelle is played the helpless victim card. Chase decides to release Nelle. Later, Chase remembers traveling to Florida, because Nelle was reportedly being harassed by Zack’s family. When he got to Florida, he recalls staying in a motel, and was set to meet up with her at a diner. However, ‘Janell’e surprised him while he was half-naked in a towel and the door of his room. Next thing you know, things get hot and heavy as she seduces him. Chase flashes to them hitting the sheets and being in the throes of passion, and promising to take care of everything for her.
Meanwhile, Nelle and Michael (Chad Duell) are talking at The Floating Rib. Nelle admits to Michael that she has a past with Chase, and her fear of him trying to bring her down now that he is in Pot Charles. She says that Chase would do anything to get ahead in his career. Michael asks if Maine was truly the last time she saw Chase. She says it wasn’t, and says he followed her to Florida.
Now, as there are two sides to every story, Nelle flashes to coming to visit Chase at his motel room; where he is only wearing a towel . In her version, she portrays Chase as the instigator. She start to cry and tells Michael that in her gut she knew that something was off about Chase, but she felt like she was drowning inside and he was her lifeline. Nelle says Chase became obsessed with her.
Then while alone, Nelle remembers how she was able to get Chase to go out to the store and get her some water after their hot sexcapade.. Once she is all by herself, Nelle calles the police to report misconduct by an officer at the motel. Meanwhile, Michael has headed over to the PCPD to confront Chase.
So, which version of the story of Chase and ‘Janelle’ do you believe? It appears Nelle has done a number on Chase. What did you think of Chloe Lanier’s performance where she can go from portraying the victim in a situation, to an evil bitch, with ease? What do you think of Josh Swickard as the PCPD’s main cop, now that Dominic Zamprogna (Dante) is on his way out of GH? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
I believe Chase’s version. Josh Swickard has made me totally forget about Dante. Swickard has star quality, there is a vulnerability and innocence that comes across in his performance that is very appealing. Nelle is the kind of character that keeps viewers coming back. Lanier’s performance reminds me of the ORIGINAL Carly, though sleazier and more evil. Good and evil together = interesting and compelling! Great casting choices by GH.
100% agreement, Bradley. Josh Swickard is a real find and, though I hate that he fell for Nelle’s machinations, I like that he may help bring her down. Now, if only that tool Michael would wise up faster, we could move on.
hi Bradley..
I like Chase and am looking forward to his development.
He has just begun and there will be changes as we learn of his backstory.
With both Dante and Nathan gone Chase is needed to carry the torch and that will take time.
I recall when Nathan arrived he was ehh not so great and the viewers were up in arms over the no talent bad actor pretty boy model lol, but after time he grew into his role and became awesome, I feel Chase will also become.
Of course Nelle is lying and Eventually, Chase will take her down but that’s some time down the road.
using newbies to prop other newbies. perfect of everything that has been wrong with this show since February 2012.
Too bad we are losing Dante. Was enough to lose Maxie’s husband.
If they really needed to fill the cop role, they need to get Jonathan Jackson back on board. Nashville’s final episodes are on the air, so he has to be done filming that by now. Bring back Detective Lucky Spencer.
And once he gets back into his routine at the PCPD, he can get the mother of his children away from the psycho serial killer. Or should I say, the serial rapist using the name of a dead serial killer.
Of course I believe Chase, but how anyone could fall for that little witch’s “charms” is beyond me! Like he couldn’t do better in his sleep! He is smoking hot but also very sweet and a little goofy, too. A perfect combination for daytime!
Pot Charles-lol…yes the show has gone to pot-lmao!
“…Just, saying ” when it seems like soaps “story” collide and it’s a free for all… may the best Serial – SHOW –
General Hospital : Nelle N Chase
Days of OUR Lives : Ben N Ciera
GH: meh . like @Soaphound… I feel like Chase is being soiled by Nelle up to the gills stank Corinthos’
DAYS : pulse quicken > this is like a two person Tennesee Williams PLAY ; gala premiere. Robert Scott WIlson IS THAT GOOD. STIR more please. am loving my Ciera Alice to bits
Can’t stand this girl.pleasecrap up this story. And let everyone see the conniving person she is . For me enough already.
I know that a lot of people do not like Nelle; and although, I am not really a fan of the two storylines (the past/pregnancy), I think that Chloe Lanier is a phenomenol actress. Josh Swickward came across really inexperienced in the flashback episodes, though (not sure, if he was trying to come across as nervous, being around Nelle, a woman he was attracted to, or an inexperienced cop, but it felt awkward to me). I would much rather see Nelle/Chloe Lanier on my screen, than that lousy Peter/Wes Ramsey who looks greasy, slimy, and can’t act for ****. For someone that went to Juilliard, why did he need his girlfriend to get him a job on a soap?
I agree, dmr, and is it just me or, unlike most actors, does he get WORSE instead of better? In spite of Liesl’s evil imprisonment, I find myself wishing she would get rid of him. Doesn’t speak too well of Mr. Ramsey.
So this is where all the soaps stories are– the latest news section rarely has anything related to soap story lines which is what I like the most from the old site. It is a bit of a pain to have to look under each soaps section to see any “action” on what is on screen, but now that I know there where to look I will — as for the topic– I am not a fan of new characters being tied to relatively newer characters–a soap should have a set of core characters and newer characters should be tied to them otherwise, you are basically creating a whole new soap and using an established soap name to front it. I think it might have worked better if they could have linked Chase to a legacy character without rewriting history–that said– the only thing I really like about this pair (Chase and Nell) is that it is really difficult to tell who is telling the truth. Chase could be an ex lover, now stalker out to get Nell, or Nell could have been guilty of killing her fiancee —the fact that it could go either way is the only thing intriguing part of the story line
I am so glad this storyline is coming to an end but I hope the fireworks happen after she has the baby and Carly is in the delivery room.
